Spot on with the theme. The graphics were brilliant, especially with the time constraints of a Compo game 😄. The difficulty was pretty high, but that probably made it all the more fun. Congrats on making this in just 48 hours!
I liked this game, it was pretty tricky to get used to the game play, but once I had I really enjoyed it. Pennies are always fun to collect! Nice job on the theme too. Plus this is a 48 hour game... so kudos on that.
Really well produced game. Loved the graphics (sprites in a 3D game always looks awesome in my eyes!) and the music. Well... I loved all of it actually. A few bugs in WebGL. But it is a top notch game. Congrats to the whole team 🙌

Great game. Loved the art style. Nice and different compared to the rest of the games I've played so far. Enjoyed the tactical (almost puzzle) based movement. Thinking a little ahead came in handy a lot! There were one or two jittery moments between character dialogue where the background room would flash up. But for a game made in 48 hours, its pretty well polished. Nice one!
I loved this game. Stream trains have always had a soft spot in my heart! Loved having to add coal. I found that there needed to be a balance with the speed, so that you could get off to defend, but not have the train get to far ahead. For a 48 hour game it's amazing. Congrats.

Awesome game! Like others have said, the atmosphere is tremendous. Camera control is a little annoying. But wow! What a game for a LDJam, and solo too. Congrats 🙌 Also the voxel art is great... I have a new found love for it.

Awesome game. I actually managed to play it on my iPhone! Couldn’t move around. But had great fun shooting. Music was fantastic, as was the sound effects. Loved the voxel/vector art mix. Colliders on enemies were a little off, but that was likely because I was using my phone to play it?! Congrats for this great entry.

Love the artwork. Stunning. Got really hooked on the gameplay. There was a very strong dystopian feel to it. I felt genuinely sorry for some of the people! Especially the ones willing to pay loads of money but have 100% chance of death. I always took the money!!!

Thanks for all the feedback so far. I completely missed that first wall not having a collider! After uploading I also found that it’s missing most of the cut scenes between levels I made too. Only half the first one, and the second one survived! No idea what happened there?!
@zugai89 Yeah. I was struggling with the end. Completely ran out of time. Really not happy with the particle effect either. The ending just didn’t pan out right. And yeah. Jellybeans were a static variable, and I forgot to do a reset for each scene. Helps with getting through the game quickly though ;)

@dusterherz. Thanks for the feedback. I had a lot planned for the story, but I just ran out of time in the end. I will definitely finish it at some point. It’s also missing most of the cut scenes. And quite a few of the random story elements. They mysteriously vanished after the last build I made and didn’t have time to fix before upload! However, I am apparently allowed to fix bugs. So that’s my job this afternoon 😄

@tay Thanks for the feedback :) The garbage bag was there at the start of the game. I didn’t think it would make sense to still be there at the end... but I recon if there was a bloodstain where it used to be, that might make more sense? Like a constant reminder for him. The dungeon level needs a lot of work done to it!
@oropouche - Thanks! I tried to make it as funny as I could. There is a lot of dialogue missing, I’m not sure what happened exactly. But there is more to the story side of things. Will try to fix them post LD.
@quasar47 Thanks for the feedback. I’ve had a lot of comments about the labyrinth level, and I agree it’s tedious! Buuuuut... I think I’ll leave it in as death is sort of messing with the character. There is a ton of missing dialogue on that level too, which might have made it less gruelling!
@pkenney Thanks for the awesome, and hilarious, review. Lightened my day up for sure. Interesting you mentioned about pressing the shift key, I think I’ll make it so when you press it he says a few different things, like ‘slow and steady wins the race’ etc... 😁 But yeah, you were spot on with the game. Testing those last levels was a traumatising experience!
What a pile of... blood and guts! Honestly this is one of the best games I've played this Ludum Dare. The pixel art is fanstastic. Especially the character animation, impressive. Stunning game for just a weekend of dev. Congrats.

Very enjoyable game. I was hooked pretty fast. The level challenge steadily got harder which was spot on. The shop might not have been needed. I think just pressing space to create a box and then deducting from your health would have worked fine (likewise for chests). But either way it works great. The theme was there for sure. A good start to the game for sure. The hit detection was a little off. But the graphics were great. The one thing I struggled with the most was the movement system. Looked a little off while moving backwards with a forward running animation. Still... amazing work for just a weekend.

I like the concept of loosing hearts to upgrade. I struggled to get past the second level though. Those jumping gaps are ruthless!
Fab little game. Really enjoyed this one. It was quite a dark sort of subject, abducting people and then harvesting stuff from them. But it somehow felt light and breezy! Clever stuff.

Interesting short game. You got the theme spot on 😁. I enjoyed the quotes. Its was super small on my screen. Possibly because of the 4k res though?

I had to play it solo! The amount of work that went into this game must have been huge! The art is fantastic, reminiscent of Don't Starve. Really loved the artwork :D The music was really great too. Solid smooth game play. The only downside I can think of right now was that there is no player vs computer. But as you only had a weekend to get it down, that doesn't surprise me!
If you do carry on working on it, PvC would be an awesome addition.
Probably the best LD game I've played so far, top stuff.

I enjoyed this. It was a short experience, but really good. The art was interesting and fitted perfectly with the style. The challenge was lacking, and not collecting items didn't seem to change anything. But I would love to see the other days and extra challenge added. Great LD entry.

Cool idea. The key bindings were off. 'wasd' wasn't working and they were bound to zqad I think. I was using chrome is that helps with fixing it. I really like the idea though, but got stuck when none of the emoji's worked on the characters anymore. Love the art.

Just starting this game was awesome! Loved the sound effects as the menu revealed itself. The polish you added is amazing, doubly so as this is a compo. Challenge vs reward was right on point. Thoroughly enjoyable game. I want to have a comment on something you should change, or that wasn't working... but I'm at a blank!!!

Really enjoyable game. I struggled to read much of the item names - my screen is 4K and there was a little issue with scaling. But what ever you did to the visuals to create that effect was awesome. Great entry :raised_hands:
@firellon Thanks for playing :D I had got as far as creating little soldiers, and helicopters were on my to-do-list! Originally you did take damage, but I ran out of time, and couldn't add any sort of lives or health bar, so you just loose points if you are hit.
Fantastic game. Really enjoyed this one. The pixel art was great. I had one or two issues with the bullets flying off in odd directions if I shot while standing next to the generator. No other issues found. Awesome entry :thumbsup:

Not a bad game at all. It would have been nice to have had some random maps, or just a few different variations. Playing got a little tedious after a while, but for a 72 hour game, this was really good. A few bonus pick ups might work well too, like a speed boost, or something to slow battery discharge for a while?
This is the bestest, cheesiest, game I've ever played. Had a real blast sliding down that infinite grater! My daughter loved it too, which I can assure you is high praise indeed! Awesome entry :raised_hands:

@upsitesdown @tamail Thank you both for playing it. I wish I had managed to fix the exponential increase in the enemies attacks. It needed a lot more balancing. Yeah, the space key as an attack was an odd choice. Perhaps I should have used ctrl for attack? Hindsight!!

@bottini Cheers for having a play on it. It does get incredibly hard. I left the enemies attack to increase exponentially. That needed fixing. If I had set the ray cast to only detect what was in front of the player, that would have allowed a more stealthy approach to game play!
@jin9310 Haha, cheers buddy. Most of the sounds were made in Rytmik. Jumping was my son going 'huh', and the enemy death was my daughter! The armour was a metal gong (edited a little) :grin:

I liked the art style. The physics could have done with a little tweaking maybe. It was a short game, but then an LD game is supposed to be a prototype anyhow. Wow. What a game. Just using 2 colours to such effect is a true skill. How you made this over a weekend is mind boggling! Little details, like how the air supple cable will make the character bounce back and forth as it moves, and the overall super fine tuned physics of the whole game, make this a truly stunning LD entry. @justcamh Oh wow. Thanks :D I’m currently working on an update, and I’ll be adding your look down idea. It was originally going to be a Jet Set Willy style procgen, but then found this small ‘room’ concept. Works (IMHO!) brilliantly in the updated version :D
What isn't to love about this game! The pixel art and colour palette is stunning. It's spot on with the theme. Both relaxing, but also with a certain level of suspense - which, along with some terrific music, adds a decent amount of atmosphere. Best LD entry I've played so far. I'll be following :D

What a fantastic game. Really enjoyed playing it. One thing I would say is that it would help if the hat would fly off in the last direction the player had moved. It caught me off guard a few times where the hat would default to down. Other than that, this was a fab game. I enjoyed this one. Very different concept compared to many of the other games I've played. I really liked the low resolution pixel art, it just seemed to work well with this game. I've left it playing in my browser... I wanna see how deep I can go! Great LD entry :smiley:

It might not be finished, but it's a great start. The pixel art is fantastic, and I love the atmospheric music. I followed you on itch so I'll keep an eye out for any updates you do on it :thumbsup:
I liked the simple clean graphics. The starting story added a nice feel to the game. The controls were a little complex, but all in all... a great LD entry :smiley:

Well I really loved this little gem, playing it was a blast. The pixel art and music were dynamite. The few bugs there were really resonated with the theme :D

I really enjoyed this game. I feel like the potential is high, and who doesn't like vampires?! Interesting that the game was about the transition sort of phase. The only thing that bugged me was the font! But I understand it fitted with the general vibe. Good LD entry :raised_hands:

Love the pixel art graphics. It's all very clean and crisp - something I love when it comes to pixel pushing! The attack system seemed to be a little glitchy, and if there was an attack sound and something to show when you are taking damage, that would be fantastic. Otherwise, solid LD entry :raised_hands:
I made it to 65 years :D I am pretty proud of that - loved how the character started slowing down as he got older. Very nicely thought out and a generally great fun game :raised_hands:

Super interesting take on the theme. I initially went straight for the sun, but on my second attempt I had a good exploration of the game world and read all the lore. Like others have said, really interesting putting it all together. Great game :raised_hands:

I played this game for way longer than I thought I would. It was addictive! As @nullval mentioned, it felt like the I was the one in the cage. Didn't notice any bugs at all, everything ran really smoothly. Really great LD entry :raised_hands:
