Solid entry with nice graphics and some twisted humor. Good implementation of the loop theme and a really nice soundtrack

@hydrasil thank you so much)
Good and fun game. Great job! Точно тебе говорю )
Nice idea! Gets a little repetitive, though but I guess that's the point :D
Oh my god. I laughed out loud when I relalized what you had done. Perfect, just perfect.
Nice little idea, I didn't find a cactus and something unexpectable though... Should I have kept playing? (I had seen the same things 5 times already so tried going left but that whas it.
@elpadlos спасибо :D
@nehvis you are right! You did wrong answer - started again. Thank you!
@ghuyajil you have to give right answer. So, when you started again, next time just give another answer and all will be ok! Thank you)
@henrik-ganard thank you so much! I am happy that you enjoyed it :)
@ellladee ooooh, how did I miss that haha - nice, I've adjusted my rating accordingly :sweat_smile:
@ghuyajil well, I hope, you enjoed the game and, well, adjusted your rating for the better 😅
Took me a moment to properly understand how to play, but I certainly felt like I was stuck in a loop! You tackled the theme well and it was enjoyable experience! The humor was enjoyable and added to the experience a lot. I like the graphics and animations although the player did sometimes get stuck in his idle animation whilst moving (only a minor issue though).
Great job and fun game! :)
@tom-stephenson thank you so much!
Great concept, cute graphics, simple gameplay.
@kohcepba можешь ещё в геймджеме от индикатора оценить :D Спасибо!
I liked your game my congratulations, I also did one if you want to know, and give me your feedback I am very grateful, this is the link https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/resurrection
Cute graphics, controls seem a little buggy though
@eugenik yeah, maybe. Thank you!
@etrealjunior thank you. And I like yours too!
Well, the game it's perfect for this theme. The art is nice and the music helps creating the mood. Good job
The most fun so far. Humor 5 stars. :)
Great job! Normally, I would say that, from a gameplay perspective, you should shorten the distance between each door so players would know sooner if they made the right choice, but since this is supposed to be hell, I found the longer distance to be quite fitting hahaha.
Fun concept with great humor. Good work!
Really liked this concept and was a great take on the theme! Storyline was good and although I got the answer wrong first time pretty much every time, kinda made me understand afterward why that was the correct answer (or at least my interpretation based on the character). Maybe got a little too repetitive which I get was the point but by the time I'd done it 10 times, those corridors seemed longggg. Maybe shorten them just a little which would make the game a little more enjoyable but still repetitive :) Graphics were cute and sound complimented it well. Thought the different characters were good too. Overall, an enjoyabe story that hit the theme but just could be slightly less frustrating when you have to go back again after the sixth dorr! Great job guys!
Hahahahaaaa... what a great game :smiley:. I got confused on the first loop, but then realised it was like a memory game! Spot on with the theme. Love the art/animations - the walking animation was just a tad slow to react. Other than that, this is a solid entry. Congrats :raised_hands:
Hey team ! @manlok @shmank @smdaniels @ellladee
Nice visuals on this one !
Getting the hang of the mechanic takes some patience but is still reasonable, however having to take it from the start at every wrong answer feels a little unfair.
As a player you always choose your answer randomly (since the questions are not based on anything you've seen or heard before), perhaps linking the questions to the environement would have worked better, since in that case if you fail to answer correctly it is clearly your fault for not paying attention to things.
The falling piano is a nice addition since it breaks of the point and click action into something a little more platformy (it is sunddenly important to control your movements), a welcome change of pace !
The humor is here and works well, I would say a few tweaks on the Q&A mechanic and this would be a neat little game !
Keep up the good work !
And feel free to check and give me your opinions on my entry !
Thanks
Damien
Nice game! I swear the distances between doors felt longer and longer every time i restarted. This would usually be annoying, but here it just adds to the mood. I also quite enjoyed the pixel art as well as the music.
Wow very nice pixel art, funny idea to get the loop running :) I enjoyed it very much.
Pretty cute game, having to restart the loop when answering a question incorrectly can be a bit frustrating, but it is cool seeing the progression!
Nice idea and fits perfectly to the loop theme. I agree with the others that the distances between the doors became more annoying than funny when you had to repeat them especially that there wasn't any clue for the correct answer so it was just 50/50 chance to continue. On the other hand I really liked the feel of the game and the pixel art and music was really nice. Good job!
I hated it it's absolutely horrible (especially this piano), I kept telling to myself why am I inflicting this to my self. And the worst part is watching this wall going way to fast so I go a bit of motion sickness on the ways and each time I returned to the office I hated myself for not having the the luck to get the right answer...
As much as I hated playing the game I must say that is a very well executed hell experience so ... Bravo !
@victorcrafty thanks!
@gurigraphics thank you!
@mikdionio yeah, the distance is longer than I expected, but we didn't have time to fix it. Thank you!
@monninen thank you!
@teto yeah, those corridors... Anyway, I am really glad that you like it, thanks for such a great feedback!
@oddsocks Thank you :smile:
@guaranteedtrainwreck wow, such a great feedback. Thank you! It was our first LD and next time we will know how to do a better game)
@markus Thanks a lot!
@merrow Thank you <3
@thundersalt Thanks!
@spacecadet Thank you! Well, actually, game is not finished, distance had to be shorter and with content
@nakami well... thank you? :D
Nice entry! May be, i misclicked, but all three optiions on 5th guy sent me to start, and on 4th time i passed him with first option i tried. Also i tried to come back, and i spent a lot of time to come back from 5th guy to just meet a scene border. it was guite dissapointing, Anyway, good job! simple and catchy, fits in the theme nicely. Thanks for the game! Молодцы =)
It felt a bit repetitive and even boring at the beginning but after a final twist I can say that it was totally worth it! Great humor haha And the soundtrack was also great.
@trizalio , @valisse21 спасибо, ребят :)
This was nice! The graphics are beautiful, and the idea is nice. But, the gameplay is boring to start, and I'm reading that there was an ending, but I clicked off before that happened. Also, I see you are using Unity, so, in your animation transitions, change exit time to 0, and uncheck use exit time, that is what is causing your buggy movement. Also, change your canvas scaling mode from constant pixel size to scale with screen size, as the text is sooooo tiny. Otherwise great job!
@n8dev thank you so much! We will fix all this stuff if we will develop this game more serious
I really liked the idea, I found the fonts very small, and the animation of the character was not similar to the speed he moves, but nothing to hinder the gameplay, congratulations, a big hug!
@etrealjunior thank you! A big hug to you too :hugging:
"We hope you have an unpleasant eternity" :D
And why is there a piano?
Small Caveats: The running animation seemed to somewhat lag behind starting to walk, maybe it only changes animation once the current animation cycle is completed? And on a device with a pixel ratio of 2 (4 physical pixels per screen pixel), the font was really small and hard to read.
Nice entry!
@potti thank you! Yeah, we just didn't enough time to fix it((
Does it ends with a black screen on the 7th circle or something went wrong? Nice game though
@zhanna yeah, you are absolutely right, because according to Dante, seventh circle is for people who killed themselves as our hero did. Thanks!
@ellladee Oh I got that, just thought that black screen might be a bug and there was more to the ending after all, but I guess that's it
It's a pretty hilarious trolling game which make you feel like a character.
@ellladee Ого, спасибище!
@tricky-fat-cat thank you!
I liked the pixel art graphics and the sound design, and the little detail that the character walks in sync with the clock sound made it even better.
The game was a bit too repetitive, especially if you give the wrong answer on the last choice, but the piano and the overall flavor text were well executed ideas!
@frigow thank you! (:
Great job ! this is a simple game but it's well done. Graphics are good, the gameplay is nice and is well integrated with the theme. I like that without any explanation it quite obvious what's happening. This one of my favorite entry so far !
The dialogue in this game is top tier, and I love piano falling. The sprites were all amazing. I agree with what other comments said about the repetition getting old and the spaces between doors feeling long. Overall great job :)
@dokthar wow, thank you so much for such a great feedback!
@sophiemae0 thank you! I hope we will fix it when we will make a better version of the game
very cute!! wanted to reach to the end so bad to know how it ends, how does it ends? nice job!
@dani-tufeld thank you! Well, you go to the seventh door and enter, that all. Maybe will be the second part about living in seventh circle, I don't know :D
So, I didn't get the loop idea at all when I was playing. But then I read through the comments and I understood why - apparently I have chosen all the right answers on my first playthough, so I just got to the end, went through the door and ended up in darkness (I assume that was the end as noting else happened?). I was never returned to the start because I answered wrong - no loop for me :laughing:
So I guess I really experienced a different game than everybody else :laughing:
Maybe you could introduce something to prevent that from happening - to make sure that the player experiences the loop. Like make one of the "proper" answers only appear as an option to chose from if the player got returned to the beginning at least once.
@fabula-rasa I think it's a miracle that you did all right answers and avoided the piano :D But still thanks for playing,for feedback and for advice)
Love the art style, the humour and feel is spot on. A simple entry but everything is as it should be. Nice work
@arron-fowler thank you so much!
So in the end... there is only awaiting darkness? :(
@klaus-peter for now. But maybe there will be a sequel :D Thanks for playing!
It's a good idea and well executed, being stuck in a loop without the gameplay being tedious. I really like the graphics, only the movement seems a bit fast for this low res pixel art. Good work!
@rucksack thank you so much!
Cool!
Not sure if jumping is needed for anything, but I have noticed a small bug with animations. When jumping, I assume, you go from state Idle->Jump->Walk->Idle. Walk state should not be there, if jumping straight up.
Also, as already mentioned, fast moving pixels make the game a bit unpleasant to look at. You could simply decrease the movement speed and distances between dialogues so that time to reach is the same, but room does not move that fast.
Apart from that very solid first entry. Music and art is great, even if not particularily hellish.
Cheers!
@ryzy27 thank you so much for your noticing and for playing!
Really unique concept and interesting dialogue! Nice works! I just reached the seventh door, and the screen just fade to darkness, so is there any ending for it? ^_^
@yword thank you so much! No, it's just darkness
Solid little entry. Music was really catchy.
@samuli thank you!
The music is very nice, the character animation is very smooth, and the low-res pixel art is looking very stylish. It took me an embarrassing amount of time to realize that the "Welcome to Hel" logo is missing an L not because of bad grammar or some hellish annoyance, but because it has fallen off and it's dangling by its corner, heh, a nice touch in an all around polished entry, well done!
@ditam thank you so much for your feedback!
Cool style and cute game!
@martin183 thanks!
the piano caught me off-guard :D
Very funny dialogue, also very emblematic game! Combining this ld's theme with the *Divina Commedia* is an inspiring idea I wish I had! :D
Pretty good overall! The graphics were cute and effective, music fit nicely, and the clock sounds in the background made it even better! Regarding gameplay, it was pretty fun to play, and the piano added variety. It took me a bit to understand it, but once I did, the game got better. So, being this your LD, it's really polished. Congratulations!
@trexxak @theinkskeleton thank you so much, guys! It means a lot <3
