Stuck in a Round by seurimas 2020-10-08T08:39:08Z
Good little game. Balance is not polished though - the game became really easy after a minute of training.

Good little game. Balance is not polished though - the game became really easy after a minute of training.
The game looks basic and it is not much to talk about.
BUT!
But this is the only game I give 5 stars for innovations so far, just because of how you make Moebius strip. This may seen as a small thing, but in reality it is not so easy to make.
Also, the doge is cute.
@tero-pulkkinen this is a quest, so figuring out what to do is the main task. (Well, at least it supposed to be). If you are interested in replaying my game - do this: Try to aim with mouse and shoot harpoon into asteroids, grab them, and then throw them into different objects and explore what you can do with the world.
Also, I am planning to make a walkthrough video soon.
Anyway, thank you for playing.
@scraggle I've added video walkthrough. The goal is to somehow escape 'stuck on the orbit loop' situation. There is no peril, since it is more like a quest or puzzle game.
@zachsbutt oh thank you.

@spawncampgames yeah, maybe you are right. I was trying to add at least some arcade challenge, so it won't be just point-n-click and player would have something to play with until he reach desired point over planet. Idea of some forced challenge if that make sense.
@sanojian I am glad you find it funny, that is what matters after all. I was trying to create atmosphere of absurdity, but make it too far. Obscure is a correct word, now I see it.
@arkinrev you can change gamespeed by +/- on numpad. Maybe that would help for better experience. But yes, you are probably right about grapple speed.
Thank you all for playing.
Wow, this is a great game. Stuck on the level with many horizontal platforms for a while.
Also, love LD community, how nobody complains about lack of tutorial, but everyone praise your game. This is amazing, compare to corporate gamedev.
Wow, this is potential jam winner. Wow. Just wow. So simple and complex at the same time.
Aesthetics are great, the theme is 100% fit, and the mood... Sad that it is not finished.
I want more levels. And there are some little interface problems - delay after pressing R is too long, placed dots are deleted after death or restart, better allow player to move them by grabbing.
Cool game, but the fastest strategy is to ignore doors and buttons - just cut the wires from the start.
So, I've launched the game and was like 'meh, another unfinished... thing. With basic controls and no graphics'.
All that until I've reached level with blue buttons and generate my first paradox. And it changed everything. It was a wow moment. The game immediately become something deep and meaningful. It goes from low tier to potential winner in main categories.
You MUST add web-build, upload it on itch. This game deserves better.
The story is ok, reminds me of that movie "Pandorum" (2009). Not directly, maybe by the mood. I don't know why.
And the 'loop' twist plays great.
The graphics is not fantastic, but good enough to not distract.
But little bugs make it harder to play:
-When you go near the wall you can't turn to the door, so it may confuse that it does not react to action button while in reality it does, you just need to take a step back from the wall.
-When you trade keycard for toolbox or crowbar, the trade is not always happened. Probably when I don't move mouse and it keep 'selected' buttons from previous exchange. Unity UI bug. But maybe not, it is just my theory.
And I am not quite understand who speaks to me after the loop. I didn't finish the game though, maybe it is explained somewhere.
Graphics, music and mood are good enough to not distract. I think the balance is where this game shines. Difficulty is at point. The flow, the dynamics, the mood. Theese parts are great.
You should add ESC in controls description. Game is too hard without it and I was about to leave and only then for the first time pressed ESC - and it saved everything.
Game itself is great, maybe too much shooting of basic enemies - it is boring after 5 rooms.
I was pushing dead caterpillars into the hole, but their bodies teleport back. So it is not a loop for everyone, only for main character.
First of all, this is definitely in my top-5 games on this jam.
It was hard to feel the game without other player or bot, but I've managed to do it. And I have some strange feelings - I think that something must be changed, but I don't know what exactly. Maybe placed beams should pulsating every 5 sec? Or players should leave a trail like in tron? I don't know. This game need some RnD, bots and it will make you rich. This could be new BIG thing. I am serious, you should work a bit and release this game.
UI design is great. Everything works smooth.
Not much to do, more like a meditation experience. And this is ok, space must be slow.
A bit basic, but well polished and overall fun.
Hm, it is possible to jump over the borders at the very start and freefall for any time you wish. The graphics are good, the mood is decent, gameplay is ok.
First of all - your website is very slow, 50 kbs download speed. As for the game - I love battle, but chest part is boring. I've played 3 levels and in every one there was ~5-8 empty rooms at the end. I don't get it. Add some enemies, it is fun to fight against them.
The music is boring, have to mute.
The game is ok, have some fun, found my friend. Not sure if level-ups were random or not, but I got 3x lifesteal. Enemies are basic, does not threat you. You can even finish game without any upgrades - just because how enemies are not dangerous.
The graphics and the mood are decent enough.
The game have big potential, like all those mobile games like Archero. I think you should have change story to make loop infinite with infinite powerups, but I am not sure there.
Great concept, cute graphics, simple gameplay.
The game is ok, but dialogues text is too slow. I mean it may be to support the mood and set the pacing, I don't know. Just think it may have been better without that typing effect.
Nice game, but I don't like when half of the screen become unplayable zone. this is too much for an obstacle. Also would be nice to add some shadows to bullets for better 3D-space feeling. Those are not big problems, it's just some little things I would tweak.
By adding a possibility to cancel any recorded move you've remove any challenge entirely. Now I can just override any mistake and stop thinking at all. Just move by corridor directions.
Check out that game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/stuck-in-a-time-loop-1
They have similar ideas, but much better implementation. And it is a solid puzzle with many possibilities to lose.
This is what I am looking for on Jams like LD. Something simple yet innovative, with a cool mood and overall interesting idea. Great job.
Wow, I am impressed by your game graphics. To be honest, didn't expect that from Construct. Most innovative game so far.
I don't understand this game. In one of the circles red things are follow me, while in the other they are static. So I can't dodge red things from 'dynamic' circle no matter how hard I am trying.
Well, I am rate like everything works fine, because idea is clear and it is easy to imagine how fun this game could be.
Wow, this Final Fantasy remake looks awesome.
Too much text. I am in a middle of the fight, I don't have time to read. I think you should have spend more time polishing dynamics instead of creative writing.
Wow. I am impressed by simplicity of idea and how clean is implementation. But how did you do roots? Is it a lot of line renderers?
Idea is great, but the game itself require too much to even understand how to play. I hope you will make more intuitive version some day.
Nice, nice. This is the type of a game to play on TV with remote. You should contact TV manufacturers and sell it to them. I am serious, you can easily earn 10k-100k with just few calls and some polishing.
How did you do sectors of light and shadows? Is it real light sources or some trick?
This is what I like in jams - when 5 minutes is enough to can understand and evaluate game. Simple game with clear idea and vision. Thank you.
Great game, quality is like it was in development for 1-2 weeks. I want more games like this. What I would change - at the very beginning, after clicking in googoo search it was 100% black screen because camera was pointing on the floor and I was thinking "another bugged game" and already wanted to close it, but by pure luck I moved mouse.
1. Can't turn off music, even if move slider to the left or left+1 pixel - it still playing. Music is ok, but definitely not good. And this became an issue after 5 minutes of playing. 2. Balance need some polishing, game feel slow. Something major (new guy or item) happened only once per 3-4 runs, especially important on early stage of the game. 3. Bugs-1. Game does not recalculate HP for new run if I haven't visit shop, so my guy with armor does not have his +10 hp. 3. Bugs-2. Not sure how moving order is calculated. Probably it suppose to go like this: my guys, enemies, my guys, enemies. But when there are more than 3-4 actors pattern breaks and became chaotic. Sometime enemies are the ones who skip turns, other times - my guys. One mob killed my 12hp guy on level 8 because he moved 5 times in a row. 4. Would be nice to see money in game, not only in shop. This is not important, just some small thing. 5. I personally think game will better with auto-battles. It is not a FF with unique heroes/animations/tactics. But that is just my taste.
Ok game, there is a similar one on GP in AR with mobile camera, you should check it.
Love the minimalism, wish there more games like this on LD.
Also, I am not sure, but maybe flickering seams may cause health problems to some players.
Nice dynamics and flow feel. Great graphics, best from what I played so far. A bit monotonous after a minute or two playing. Cool sounds.
P.S. And because of this game I realized I don't have a tool to unwrap rar archive and have to install it. I don't know if this is common, but maybe you losing players because of that. Maybe not, I don't know.
The most effective tactics is to move mouse really quick and launch box far in the sky. Got 1.8M score this way.
Also, I guess some indicator of stability will be nice. So it will be 1 sec warning before game over.
I don't understand strategy. I just completed the game first try with literally random choices. Maybe I was lucky, I don't know.
It does not mess up grades, game idea is clear and that is what matter the most.
It was fun experience, thank you.
I scored 1200 max with honest play. Then I just set my mic sensitivity to max and blowed on the mic. And got 3500.
Then I tried to play it on electric guitar plugged in mic port. Died instantly.
Then I tried to place mic near PC fans so there will be permanent stable speed. It worked for a while, until I pressed a key too loud.
Then I tried to put mic into a metal cup and create noise by repeatedly hitting its side. It's also worked, but at this point I realized that cup is full with water and I need to save mic as soon as possible.
Strange, but this little game get me engage more than any other on this jam.
@pete-thorne @ubershmekel thank you for playing, I've added FAQ with math under the hood if you interested.
@reyansh @alpacalypse thank you
Also I uploaded version with fixed resolution (game is the same)
@const-arch yeah, I've made it at first with smart opponents who team up against player but it was impossible to win and game overall feels like gambling, so I've decided to make them do random moves and that's allow focused strategy like yours being ultra-effective. Game lose some of its chaos, but now it have The Message and educational value how hating is bad and all that stuff. Even better strategy is not to vote at all. I am not humble bragging but game is just not polished at all in numbers.
@tosk3 thank you for playing. Opposition may hate themselves to allow new player to win with some intuitive strategies. It is a jam and most people play only once so I reduce difficulty to make them win more easily and maybe even learn something. It was almost impossible to win when AI plays somewhat optimal.
@herryfabien my main goal with this game was to invoke reaction "wow, this is relatable". Huge narrative and big picture. I don't know much about CNN but it is probably good that you find some analogies. Thank you for playing.
@unknownlocal yes, I know it is junky, very unpolished and lacks some critical functional (like hating those who hate particular group), but I think I did enough to create something bigger than just mechanical game, it touches people thoughts and feeling about real world. So I am very glad you liked the premise and ending, this is the most important parts for me. Thank you for playing!
@jaker I was trying to create such game that "every 10 seconds" would impact meta-gameplay, something outside the game itself, if that makes sense. Of course it is metaphorical and as you say on-the-nose, but that was my main goal. I've tried to make it without "next round" button at first, but it lost a lot of deepness. Time pressure is a good tool but not for a games like this, but I've tried to fit theme with "hate somebody new every 10 seconds".
I appreciate your comment about gameplay, UI and graphics and I agree more or less with all of them. I just didn't have enough time unfortunately.
Anyway, thank you for playing.
@oozer thank you, and thank you for playing.
@amarokczukay thank you for playing and criticism. The irony is that population actually have a lot of information to show, every person have a 9 stats for hating, 6 stats for candidates and 6 stats for likeness of candidates. I just didnβt have enough time unfortunately.
@fribolin oh, sorry. My bad. Totally forgot about existence of color-blind people.
There are some math and mechanics behind everything, but opponents make random moves. I've tried at first make them play optimal but it was almost impossible to win against. So yeah, they are dumb now.
Thank you for playing.
Game itself is good in its core, but balance is broken. 80% of time I was just running around looking for any gun. It was not challenging it was just a waste of time. And sometimes wave ends before I even found a gun.
You should have started the game right on arena, skipping all the lab tubes part. I am pretty sure most players click randomly without reading just to get to the battle as soon as possible.
Also, to fix html build you should change compression format in build settings in unity for none.
This is brilliant in its simplicity.
It is a good game but you shouldn't punish player so much when he dies from his child. Maybe just 2 seconds stun will be better. I am afraid some people will die and immediately leave after just 10 seconds of playing.
Everybody knows that bird is the word.
This game would have been so much better if this Jam's theme was "every 3 seconds"...
Kipo owns you all!
Start is too delayed. I've met first enemies only on the end of 4th wave, some action started around 7th wave. So literally nothing interesting happened for almost 1.5 minutes. That is wrong, because after that 1.5 minutes game is good, but I am not sure if many people even reach that point.
td.png
Game is good, but too easy - income is too high. Usually they make cost of houses higher and higher with every new house. And enemies stop spawning after some point. And I didn't understand what the difference between different attack blocks. And didn't feel the need to use any defense.
Also you should check icons on buttons and text around them for a 'raycast target' mark - it should be ON only for buttons.
Huh, that is interesting.
This game is very similar to mine, but I think mine is better. Yes, I am very humble.
Why? Because yours is smart but not exciting, mine is not so smart but you can do whoooosh and boing and buzzzz and squash.
You have obviously much better graphics and power-ups, but I think you should have spend that time on core gameplay mechanic polishing. There is just not enough cool moves you can do with it and it is not relaxing nor satisfying.
You should include illustrations or photos in the description. It won't be cheating but you will get your 20 ratings faster.
About game itself - it's ok, I've tried it once. Personally I would have made it much more complex with something like random dices and maybe other players but I am not a big solitaire fan, so I am probably wrong.
@zonoxx I've actually tried it with cooldown on anchors at first, but it was counter-intuitive on the level "I clicked but nothing happened, the game is broken". And I decided not to limit players so they could limit themselves if they wish. Swinging with precise timing can make you much faster than spamming. So everyone can select personal moves and style.
@greenphox yeah, it is a bug for web version and I even know why it is happened (~30 wav sounds and game load a new one only when it first time played, so that create a micro-lag and that mess up physics). So if you play for a while the CrAzY mode stop happening.
For everyone saying how easy it is to move with just spamming 123 - yes, it is. But I prefer not to limit players with artificial walls like cooldowns or minimum distance between anchors. Players can create restrictions themselves. My game is more like a toy than a game - you can play with it in any way you like. Slow movement is also satisfying, or moves synchronized with swings. Experiment!
@iCalm thank you. It was actually "poor hungry orphan kittens" initially, but text stretched too far, so I remove kittens.
@augmotic @quadtree @ginathepotato yes, you can spam-click and it kills bunging. But you also can not-click and play in any style you want. I was thinking about cooldown, single pin but decised against it. Because it is jam and better to allow people play however they want. I was trying to create something like a toy, not a game, if that make sense. Pure fun from mechanic, satisfying movement and all that stuff.

I am not sure 1400 tower worth it. Wasn't even sure it do damage, until tested it separately. And sell price is the same as buying. Usually sell is discounted in TDs. Well, I have my fun. Game is ok, but there is just not so much to do and curve of difficulty is broken, but you already know that. The best part is randomly generated grass, it is a huge tactical thing, very innovative for TDs, but most people play jam games only once and won't even notice.
@cole-and-jordan-studios do you check for passability of generated grass maze?
It is so weird how I rate a game by 9 y.o. higher than half of 'adult' games. And I didn't care about his age during rating process, it is not a patronizing, he made objectively decent game in my opinion. It is have clear gameplay, nice dynamics, simple cute graphics. Can't play multiplayer though.
No idea what's happened, but it was beautiful.
It's good but colliders are confusing sometimes, especially in the forest. Dieded after level 18 because I stuck in the tree.
I've played for ~5 minutes and all I did is kill 5 guys and collect one soul. Graphics is fine, but balance is broken.
You shouldn't use that in-game font (hint in the corner, "Q for laser"). Because Q does not looks like Q and I have to reload page to learn how to play. And I was not able to resume focus on game after alt+tab for a moment.
That is not a big problems, game is fine.
This game desperately need normal tutorial. Or what-to-do in description at least. Most people will just play random cards.
It's ok, but there was no clear goal - I've beat dragon, mermaid thing and witches and just stopped after that. Because I didn't see a point to continue. And what was the point of crystals?
You should check LD-48 compo winner, ROOTS. It is quite similar, but without techo part.
@asasin56 oh, yes. Thank you so much for noticing. Totally forgot itch didn't publish for all, it is in draft mode initially, you have to manually click "public" checkbox. And I didn't notice that because I was logged into account.
@asasin56 totally agree, I was just messing around with render textures, to make that foldable plane. Also this is my first experience in writing music.
@brandon-campbell Thank you. Well, I have to add some challenge. So controls are intentionally wacky - additional random rotation force with every W press.
@perfectsquare my main idea was to create different stuff with somewhat seamless transition. And I think the really cool stuff is those transitions, not the folding. You are totally correct about wind particles, don't know why but I didn't think about it. Thank you for playing.
@beeb-gamecodecompany yep, you are 100% correct. This was literally an experimental game - in creating foldable mesh, in render textures and in somewhat seamless transitions between different gameplays.
Thank you for playing.
Traffic keep stacking on some points, sometimes it is about 10 cars and it is impossible to drive around. Usually that happened when multiple agents compete for the same waypoint but neither can reach it because of that competition.
Also, games without fuel mechanics are always better. Fuel is almost never fun.
Game itself is fine, everything works and graphics is decent.
Wow. Really impressive for 48 hours and I even checked sources, so unbelievable it is.
Monsters have amazing design with their holes and how they are hollow. And world color palette adds to the mood.
Very, very impressive graphics. Gameplay is basic and not polished though.
This is the most complete game on this jam so far, with huge commerce potential. You should definitely polish it a bit and make mobile or something. I have a lot of fun.
P.S. Not sure how to flip the iceberg.
@ace17 it is embedded into this page, right on the top.
Game is fine, but I prefer backward movement with inverted horizontal input.
And some restart button will be nice, don't want to reload page after I stuck between houses.
Game is fine, but camera is a bit dizzy, also death animation is too long.
Thank you for changes!
There is 2 small things left I would change - allow to skip intro, and do not stick to wall if I was holding right and begin jump when already touching that wall.
Also, I am not sure about death counter and clock - it may scare some people, with a mentality of something like "I don't want to feel bad, like I am a bad player. I don't want game that remind me about my skills, I just want to play". It is not a big percentage of player base, but maybe you should allow to turn off counter and clock. Again, I am not sure, it is usually decided via tests and analytics.
That is amazing game in its core. Yes, graphics could be better and some checkpoints will be nice, but overall it was very fun. You should add some screenshots on this page, people need to play this! Also I couldn't beat boss with huge bullet spread (final?), but kill his teammate.
P.S. Love how reload is o__o
It's fine, but car does not feel physical, with accelerations and inertia. There was one very old game, BHunter, you should check it out, they made flying cars right. And city design is very similar to yours but much more polished. And I think you can get it for free, or just watch youtube.
Very clear idea, I like that. Also I think you should not destroy milk particles after time, let them fly inside ship and create more chaos.
You should use noise reduction when recording voice or after. In something like Audacity it is literally 5 clicks for great sound quality.
Love the game, but I think it should have been more puzzle-ish. It's always obvious what I have to do, in every level. Because there are not so many possible routes for cable. So we basically just execute instructions, which is ok for relaxing games but you made it frustrating by insta-killing from every touch and by making aggressive timings in some levels. So it is a mismatch of genres and moods, if that make sense.
All above does not affect score, it is just my thoughts. Game still very good as is.
Interface is counter-intuitive, double click is a no-no for such games.
Balance is broken, I get holy spirits by spam-clicking right most topic and thumbs up.
Idea is great though. Just not presented in a fancy way. Very similar to one of my games from LD-51, I made overcomplicated democracy election simulator with deep math but not so much gameplay.
