nice game overall. It would be nice if you've add some sfx.

joellikespigs 2020-10-05 20:13

Not bad for a first jam entry - It would be nice to have some sort of score meter or something to judge how well I'm doing outside of the colored background.

Well done

2020-10-05 20:22

nice game! i liked :)

2020-10-05 21:56

Great game for a first time! Keep going

charlieboss22 2020-10-05 23:51

well done !

dharby 2020-10-06 01:10

Having the eyes look in the direction you're moving was a very nice touch. Good job!

snowinn 2020-10-06 01:11

If you port it to WebGL with unity, I would love to play it! Looks cool!

gumemura 2020-10-06 02:09

@shan-hsgames no SFX makes a huge diference. But unfortunately there was no more time left to insert them

gumemura 2020-10-06 02:10

@joellikespigs thnks for the feedback! just like the sound, there was no time to implement it

gumemura 2020-10-06 02:10

@julie @pfgm your comments makes me very happy. thnks very much!

gumemura 2020-10-06 02:12

@dharby i saw your game. a complement coming from you is very pleasing! further more, i confess that i tought a lot about if its was worth or not to implement it or not. in the end, its was totally worth it

gumemura 2020-10-06 02:13

@snowinn your wish is an order. i updated the link now u can play directly on browser

2020-10-06 03:13

That's amazing for a first time bro. Great job. Would love to see some more SFX. Hell of a job

snowinn 2020-10-06 03:37

@gumemura Nice job man ! This is a fantastic entry for your first game and it was really fun! For next time, I would try and make something more related to the theme, as this doesn’t seem to be like ‘stuck in a loop’ (except for repeating after you die which most games do already). I love the Tuxedo guy’s expressions also! :D

This is really impressive for a first game! I agree with some of the comments above, it would be nice to have a score meter and some sfx, but I understand that it's hard to add all of the things we want in a jam.

I, personally, would prefer if the player's movement were less "floaty", like without the acceleration, because it would give me a faster response to my inputs.

The fact that the coins load your special bar is a bit unintuitive, maybe if it had a fuel icon or something like that, it would be more clear.

But, overall, it's a nice game! You did the most important thing when starting with jams: small scope. It's a very hard thing to do, so, congratulations!

It's really cool for a first game ! Love the look of the character and his eyes following the direction, it's a little thing that add a lot of humour. Very simple concept but it work and fit the theme. Transition between worlds is nice and unexpected. So congrat !

Nice game bro

kazuo256 2020-10-06 13:07

Like many said, it's a great game for a first attempt!

I also agree with the rest about sfx, score, movement precision, and the coins not being intuitive. My personal remarks would be that:

* I don't know why you chose to be vague about the "special power". Took me a few tries (which I could have use to actually play the game) to figure out what it does and how it relates to the coins.

* The intro animation is great because it serves multiples purposes. It tells us what the game is about, why it is so, and what its tone is. Besides, it's funny and helps break the ice. I don't know how hard it was, but I always leave cutscenes to the end and end up making them in a hurry. You made the right choice putting the time and effort into it.

Hope you keep making good games like this =)

Nice game man. The animations are good and i liked de mechanic motion. You can improve the spawn of coins, sometimes coins spawn at the same place of platforms, it`s really frustrating kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.

Hey, nice work! The choice of assets is very cute, it gives a nice tone to the game. I think it would've worked better if you'd made it in portrait orientation instead of landscape. I felt a little squeezed by the resolution, lol. Another critique I have is about the character's super power, it took me a while to figure out that you have to hold down the space bar to use it (I initially thought it was going to activate just by pressing it). Apart from that, I think it's fun and cute, congrats :)

glayson 2020-10-06 23:02

nice graphics! I want to report a bug: if you hold right in the initial animation the dude will stuck offscreen in the top.

kohcepba 2020-10-07 16:17

Hm, it is possible to jump over the borders at the very start and freefall for any time you wish. The graphics are good, the mood is decent, gameplay is ok.

nazorus 2020-10-07 16:28

Pretty nice game, especially for a very first one! I love the art style and the little animations like the eyes of the character that look in the direction he's moving. The only thing I would change is to add a health system (instant death seems kind of harsh), and maybe add some music and sound effects as well.

Anyway, you managed to finish a simple and fun game in time, so that's great, good job

dk5000p 2020-10-07 16:32

I really liked the falling main character, given that you used other people's assets I think you are supposed to opt out of graphics but I could be wrong, good job giving credit, though. The game really would have benefited from some sound. Given it is a jam game there is a lot of free sound out there to use. As indicated by other people a score would have helped and a high score. Also, in the intro cutscene you can still move and move outside the world. For a first game, though, this was really well done. Ludum Dare was also my first game and game jam.

baran 2020-10-07 16:45

Even though it is so simplistic, congrats on your first finished project! Even though the art is not yours, it suits really well to your game.

raffe 2020-10-09 10:41

Hey! This was a cool entry for you first LD! First of all, good and respect for you for giving us the info that you werent using your own assets. I've seen MANY cases in the past, where especially SunnyLand assets have been used a lot and they have claimed the graphics for themselves. So that was nice to see.

The gameplay felt quite smooth, and I didn't really find any bugs or anything game breaking, maybe just some super small collider issues. The animations were really nice, and stuff like that makes a game feel a lot more polished! You could've added some sounds if you had time, for example some kind of wind blowing (or something like that) as you're falling time. But this is a super good first Ludum Dare, I really hope to see you join the upcoming game jams and see you improve!

thomz12 2020-10-26 12:43

Fun game! I liked the animation in the beginning. It would benefit from having some audio. Maybe having the player higher in the screen (instead of the center) would've been nice. Right now all the screen space above the player is mostly not used.

Anyway, great entry!
