LD42 — Running out of space

Demonologist by Ghen 2018-08-19T02:12:29Z

Really fun, impressive for a one person job. It even inspired me to make something like that one day. I only have worked in a team, it's remarkable what you achieved alone in only 42hrs! The gameplay is very satisfying, the design concept of life being the HP and that you "lose" hp when attack, BUT are rewarded with more hp if you kill the enemies in a efficient way is very good, I felt that it was fair and challenging. The only thing that bothered me was the need to read the guide thoroughly to understand how to kill the fire thing. The feedback that I was receiving (my body heating and the fire pulsing) told me that I needed to get away from it. If the design was more intuitive I would had given max points.

Kingdoms Fall by LandoSystems 2018-08-15T02:59:36Z

Nice setting and music! The only thing that confused me was the attack vs defense of the characters, it seemed that sometimes I could kill them, other times I couldn't. Another minor thing was that the place substitution of my mage with another character worked only sometimes too.

Hoarding Hank by BarkerGames 2018-08-14T23:58:04Z

The theme and concept of the game is fun but I don't liked the "tank" commands. The gameplay gets boring quickly, maybe if you added more elements to it or stepped up the difficulty it could be more compelling. The sounds were very loud too, even on the minimum volume of my headphone.

Chill Chair Simulator by radmars 2018-08-19T18:59:14Z

The concept is interesting and your description here is clever haha, not expecting this atmosphere at all. But the controls are very frustrating, I feel like I don't have much control on the way that he moves. I caught myself pushing all the buttons at the same time :p

Bug Squasher by erikiene 2018-08-17T18:40:21Z

Hey, I think I beat the user highscore haha. One of the most fun games that I've played here on Ludum Dare, amazing!! I was going to comment about the theme not fitting it, but then I realized the pun: THE BUGS ARE ACTUALLY RUNNING OUT OF THE SPACE BUTTON!!! HAHAHA! Very good, clever.

Bug Squasher by erikiene 2018-08-19T15:56:34Z

Actually I played it again to try and beat my own highscore, woah, didn't remember how intense it was! Here is my new highscore!

I played it again, funny and challening as always. Here is the score!!

Edgy Fantasy Battle Deluxe by Shess 2018-08-15T23:57:51Z

Awesome art and graphics! The humour was very good too. The only thing that I didn't like very much was the beginning of the game, kind of confusing.

Cutting Edge: Screensaver by kazuo256 2018-08-20T01:20:06Z

@prodigalson Thank you for your kind feedback! You are right, other people pointed that out too, we will work on alternative controls.

Cutting Edge: Screensaver by kazuo256 2018-08-24T14:22:18Z

@erikiene and @ratherjolly, thank you very much, this means a lot to us!

@folex70 Given the nature of our game's core mechanic (the shrinking of the game window), it is desktop-only (no Web or Mobile versions).

EVOLUTION by Noa Calice 2018-08-15T02:21:42Z

The art is amazing and the sound effects made with the mouth are a nice touch too. I only felt that, as a game, it doesn't have much of a objective, since the death of the planet is inevitable and the only way to save the planet is by doing nothing, which is boring :p

CapyBarbra: A New Brow by Ratherjolly 2018-08-17T01:59:46Z

One of the weirdest games that I've ever played haha. The capybara blinking on the intro is very cute, well done on the graphics! I only felt that the gameplay was too simple, if we had more things to do while we were chewing it would be nicer.

Disk Allocation: Typing Spectacular by electr1ca 2018-08-25T00:55:48Z

AMAZING GAME! One of the best that I've played here, definitely. I like typing games and this one combines it with nice elements like the rpg-fight style, with HP and the possibility to use itens, the mechanic of upgrades in-between levels and bosses! Very good! The art is cute, the sound effects are nice, a good job indeed. I think the only thing that I didn't like very much was that when I finished typing and hit enter while the enemy is attacking me, it won't sent, I had to hit enter multiple times to send the word. It would be smoother if you could just furiously type in a continuous manner.

Dear Leader's Diet Plan by Historymaker118 2018-08-15T01:59:49Z

The theme combined with the music/sound fx are very fun, but the gameplay was kind of confusing at first and I got stuck pretty hard on one level, mostly because of the not so satisfying mechanic that don't let you bounce everytime you hit spacebar.

Garbage Compactor by negativegeforce 2018-08-25T00:37:13Z

One of the worst games I have ever played here on Ludum Dare. The collision while you are holding things are totally bugged: the objects passes through the walls. There are times that I simply die out of nowhere, being far away from the compactor. There are no menus, no tutorials, very bad.

Reptiloid Simulator by Mark Chepicov 2018-08-16T00:27:29Z

Awesome game, the best one that I've played on this Ludum Dare! The theme fits perfectly, the music puts you on the mood, graphics are nice, gameplay was very fun and the humour on dialogues were the icing on the cake! The mechanics worked perfectly too, very good. The only thing that I would complain is that sometimes there are two planets on the same path and I didn't notice when one ship targeted the far one, so it would explode and frustrate me haha. Maybe if you put some indication on those cases would make it better, but overall, fantastic work!

Personal Space by ProdigalSon 2018-08-19T19:14:18Z

Well polished game! Nice graphics and audio! I just think that the controls were a bit clunky, I'd liked it better if it was a bit faster to break the tiles and stun the enemies. Another thing is that it took me a while to understand how to make them fall, but it can be just me being dumb hahaha. I guess there are many dumb players out there too, so if you showed a demonstration before the game begins it would definitely help.

DE/VOID by randomphantom 2018-08-19T17:51:24Z

Definitely the best game I've played here on Ludum Dare. The game design is marvellous, you introduce the mechanics in a nice manner and then combine them to make challenging but not unfair levels. Very fun and rewarding! It inspired me to, someday, make a game like this, all alone, simple, but awesome. The only thing that bothered me was level 34 was very laggy, even if I disabled the post processing =(

DE/VOID by randomphantom 2018-09-05T00:00:00Z

Haaa! I saw your game on one stream and it was one of the best that I've played here. I came back now to see the results and I'm very happy that you got top 10 overall, congratulations!!!

A Tale of Fish by dalton5000 2018-08-14T23:46:24Z

The humour on this game is very good, I chuckled with those dialogues. The music is very soothing too, but the dialogues were breaking to me: some of them only appeared for like 1 second and I couldn't read, mainly with the turtle. It's nice seeing games that have a cool narrative here, though!

Globulator by Corbak 2018-08-18T20:50:05Z

Awesome game! Very fun and well done, its challenging but not impossible, the controls function well, the graphics and audio are very satisfying. The only thing that bothered me a bit was that there were too much text. I was not able to read most of the things that appeared mid-level because I was too occupied shooting those damn bacterias! haha

Sodaboi by Tony Redmer 2018-08-19T16:59:01Z

Omg, my arm is tired haha. Simple and nice game, I liked the idea of having to focus on two things at the same time, it tricks my mind.

Dataphobia by Shozou 2018-08-19T20:02:20Z

Nice work, considering you made it all alone and with so little time! The audio is very good! Maybe if the mechanics of changing your skill set were more accessible in-game it would lessen the hassle of having to restart every time.

Will Survive by foxserranu 2018-08-24T17:50:10Z

Excellent art and sound! The narrative is good too, you even have a nice intro! But the gameplay is very dull and repetitive, you are not challenged by any means and, if you keep the mouse button clicked, you basically have to just walk though the screen.

Anxiety by TontonPizza 2018-08-24T18:08:02Z

Excellent job on passing the message of the social anxiety, both with the gameplay and the phrases on the screen.

DON't WAKE UP! by sqrrel 2018-08-19T02:19:27Z

No tutorials, very confusing, I never knew why I've lost, nothing makes sense. But the idea of not waking up the programmer was nice though.

She is helmet by Stegobubbles 2018-08-21T19:24:12Z

The art is absolutely amazing! I wished that I could vote for graphics. The music and sound effects too. But the gameplay and design have many problems, in my opinion, such as:

-You waste your dash if you use it standing still.

-If you dash after the enemy's attack animation has begun, you die, even being far from the enemy.

-The continuous deaths are not fun. I know that you designed the whole clone idea based on your death, and it is fun, but maybe if you spawned immediately it would be less frustrating.

-The movement speed of your character is too slow, if you don't have your dash you just cannot avoid the melee attacks.

-I eventually managed to kill the big one, but I guess things were still falling and I died, despite having killed all enemies

-I didn't feel that I was running out of space

A Way Out by sdrrv 2018-08-15T01:38:35Z

It's a challenging game! I celebrated when I won haha. Took me a while, 4 tentatives I guess. Most of it was because I wasn't understading that I needed to hit the walls only on the blinking red spots. When I read "hit the red things" on the instructions, I started to frantically hit the red bullets, wasting it all xP. But apart from that, it's a nice game.

Space Hoarder (Ludum Dare 42) by JinPT 2018-08-15T00:08:59Z

One of the most confusing games that I've played on this LD. There were no clear instructions of what I had to do, neither ingame nor on this page. How do I fill the ships tanks? What is my objective? Why do I need to put those characters on the ship?

Storage Almost Full by Sthor726 2018-08-19T02:51:59Z

Nice game! It was challenging. I liked that the characteristics of the enemies were associated with its image, like a rapid file is only a sheet of paper and the tank one have lots of things inside it's folder. But in a game like this, the updates means a lot, so, putting even a little description of what each thing does would be extremely helpful.

Blob Attack by AdiH 2018-08-14T23:00:58Z

The music is nice, it gives a sense of rush when you are in the enemy zone, the graphics are cute, but I was very confused in what to do, the bullet boxes hitbox is not so nice and the bullets don't spawn correctly, sometime you click and it doesn't spawn. The idea behind the spreading thing is interesting though.

Slime Defense by dimlyorchid 2018-08-16T00:32:11Z

The shooting sound is very loud, but the music is nice! I liked being able to spawn those fireballs hehe

Space is running out of space by DarkGuardsman 2018-08-19T02:34:36Z

I felt confused and frustrated. I took a while to understand that if I pressed "up", I would accelerate my ship towards the upper side of the screen. The most intuitive mechanic is that pressing "up" will accelerate the ship on the direction that it is facing. The fact that I'm flying at a certain speed and the asteroids are too, makes it very hard to find even one on your screen. When I tried to shoot it, I thought that I would destroy it or something but I didn't understand what happen. I think I teleported to the main area? I was with 2 points, I didn't know from what I've gained those points. I don't know what the R command do too...I think the mechanics were not so good but the point that definitely needs more work is the Tutorial.

Leave me alone by kraiom 2018-08-16T00:57:42Z

I only played with the AI, and it was kind of fun, but you don't see it playing step by step, it just teleports and you don't know what happened haha. I felt that the game ended too quickly too, maybe if you added some mechanics that let you teleportate, with a larger map, it could help make the game last longer. But overall it was fun!

LD44 — Your life is currency

Wizard of Worth by schizoid2k 2019-05-02T06:12:26Z

Nice take on the theme! Generally shoot'em ups let you spam bullets but here you used the theme to do something new and fun.

Dr. Ectomy by BoxedMeatRevolution 2019-05-03T04:15:49Z

One of the best level designs that I have ever seen on a jam game, OMG!!! The art is well done, nice choice of font too. The layers mechanics could be introduced more clearly, I spent some time until I understood how the organs would fit into the lower layer.

I spent more than one hour playing, this game is very challenging and rewarding! If it were on an app I would DEFINITELY come back to play it until the end. The puzzle structure is simple, yet you managed to keep introducing mechanics and inventing new puzzles, amazing, really, congratulations!

Bartleby in Space by CarlsonAndPeeters 2019-05-01T03:01:16Z

The art is simple and beautiful! The music fits the game well too. The gameplay works fine, it really feels that I'm controlling some astronaut in space, he keeps spinning, even in place xD.

Funny texts too, just thought that it didn't combine well with the theme, because you are limited on time, which gives an anxiety to find things quickly, so reading flavour texts goes against that. But overall it's really good!

Monotheizmation by Zeriver 2019-05-04T20:43:24Z

Things I didn't like: - Very confusing, I didn't understand bery much what I was doing and for what purpose. Like, the sun and rain were very intuitive, but the population mechanic was not clear. When people had bubbles of humans should I put more population where they were standing or on the houses? If they wanted the animal, how could I provide it for them? There were other icons like the leaf and other plant that I didn't understand, I was taking care of the things that produced them, why people were sad about it? haha - The game starts abruptly with all the mechanics already there. The main thing that I learned searching for how to do tutorials is: "Teach gradually through experience". If the player started with only one mechanic and the game explained how to use it and what consequences happened, one mechanic at a time, it would be much less confusing.

Things I liked: - The mood is nice, the music and graphics made me feel calm and happy to provide for my people xD. - The theme was fun, being a god that people sacrifice other people to. - The limited time to enhance each thing made me want to continue improving and continue playing. If you continue working on this game and make an objective system and such, I could see this being an addictive game.

Soul Surge by Brackeys 2019-05-06T19:31:17Z

Things I didn't like: - The attack working in the direction the player is facing instead of where the mouse was pointing at felt weird to me. - The hitboxes are a bit awkward, sometimes I was spamming the attack, directly facing the zombies and they hit me. - When I took damage, I expected to lose souls. When it didn't happen I was confused. Maybe if it was clear to the player how many hits he could take before dying and that it was a different mechanic from the souls would make it less confusing.

Things I liked: - Amazing art and animations. I follow your youtube channel for a while and seeing that you are primarily a programmer, but you also make beautiful art, it's inspiring. - The souls being used to buy upgrades fits the theme very well. - The rooms systems was very well thought.

Nice game!

Library of Madness by ectucker1 2019-05-11T18:16:08Z

The gameplay was a bit weird to me, like having to be exactly at a certain position to be able to climb up or climb down a platform is too clunky, not dynamic. Sometimes when I was too close to the enemies, I couldn't hit them but they could hit me. Not being able to just drop from a platform seems very unintuitive. I think I picked the tome of vanishing two times.

The art is very well done! The little details like the colored books, grass on the walls, it's great. The music is nice too!

The level design is good, I felt compelled to keep going and finish the game. The game starting to getting weird and creepy with each book picked was an excellent touch too, good job!

Lifeblood Arena by svntax 2019-05-04T18:49:12Z

Things I didn't like: - Sometimes I lost a lot of life on the first or second wave, it would be nice to have a retry button to instantly go to the beginning insted of waiting to die. - I've noticed a bug: sometimes my hit counted many times, I killed a bull in one attack (it did the attack sound many times) - I think it would be nice to have an invulnerability time after taking damage, because when I made contact with a monster I got hit several times, this seems unfair. - The whole idea of trading your life to pick skills is only used once. The moment I realized I liked speed and didn't like ranged attacks, I simply made a "build" spending everything I could on speed and removing the ranged. Then I would never change it. The fact that I never regenerate my life made me not want to spend it on other things.

Things I liked: - It's nice that you let people choose which playstyle they want: focus on speed, ranged attack, dash etc. - Nice graphics, very simple but functional. - Melee attack is juicy - The music is good! The sound effects too, mainly the "pop" when monsters died, very satisfying. - I liked that before the wave begins, there is a little delay to let you think about a strategy - Very challenging! I hit wave 5 several times, when I finally was beating wave 6 I felt thrilled. Hitting wave 7 was rewarding.

Overall, a very challenging and mechanic oriented game, with rewarding sounds and difficulty, good game!

Sinner by kazuo256 2019-05-01T09:03:02Z

@jayometric Thank you for the feedback! The damage after death was not intended, we fixed it for the next version. We added the info about the ghost not damaging you on the tutorial, thanks for telling us how you felt playing our game!

@svntax You were right, we increased the size of the skeleton projectiles, thank you for the input!

@mamoniem Hmm, that's strange, are you playing on OSX? We couldn't test that platform because none of us have a Mac xP.

Sinner by kazuo256 2019-05-01T23:08:50Z

@mrtnldm You're definitely right, we added some ingame screenshots to clarify. I loved your way of describing our game, I'm gonna put it in the description too haha, thank you very much for the feedback!

@nigogo The visual aid would be awesome indeed, it hasn't even crossed our minds to do it, we'll certainly be more aware in the next games! Thanks for the kind words!

@carpin Thank you very much for the comment! Yeah, those black squares happened with one of our members, we are almost sure that it was caused by his Windows desktop wallpaper changing automatically, bizarre xP.

I'm flattered that you two used my style of comments, it was unexpected for sure hahaha.

Sinner by kazuo256 2019-05-03T19:52:33Z

@zeriver You're definitely right about the spells, one person here on the post commented that we should've done a visual aid and I think it would've fixed the issue you noticed too.

We thought deeply about the tutorial, I'm really, very happy that you liked it! Thank you very much for your words!

Sinner by kazuo256 2019-05-11T23:20:53Z

@joshanthony1990 Hey, thanks for playing our game! Yes, those flickering things happened A LOT on another game that we made (on Godot aswell), and we realized that it was happening because of the Godot rendering backend, the GLES2 or GLES3 that appears on the upper-right corner of the interface.

At that game, we used GLES3 and , on Linux, the issue appears to be much less common, but in Windows that game was unplayable. So for this one we used GLES2 and it helped a lot, but it still flickered a little on one PC where the setting to automatically change the desktop wallpaper was on. Do you happen to use this setting on your PC too? If not, we still don't know exactly why this happens haha. But thanks for your feedback!

Idle Idol by Daniel Moreno 2019-05-10T23:45:50Z

Things I didn't like: - The specific sound that plays when you click on the statue is not so pleasant, sometimes I avoided clicking on it because of the irritating sound. - At first, it wasn't clear that I had to reach 1000 cultists to finish. I thought that I had to fill the screen with the 300$ building. It caught me off guard. I clicked to play again just to be sure and saw that you put it in the beginning, but so much thing is happening on the screen that I missed it. Maybe put some popup before the gameplay telling this to the player and only start the game when he hits OK, or something like that. - I played for some minutes thinking that the trees were put in a smart way and I had to think where to put the structures to optimize the space. But then I realized that you can destroy the trees haha. It would be nice if that information were clearer, I felt dumb. - Sometimes I destroyed some structures while trying to click on the statue. It would be less prone to error if the right button destroyed them, instead of the left.

Things I liked: - The music is very good, it works nice in the background. - Most of the sound effects are good. - The art is amazing, very very good pixel art, it's inspiring. Nice animations when you destroy trees and such. - It offers a complete experience, with an end game screen, very polished. - The mechanic that makes the player avoid incremeting the currency too fast is awesome because it requires the player to be proactive, making it different than other idle clickers.

I generally avoid clicker games because I'm easilly addicted to them. This was no different hahaha, had to finish it! Very satisfied with the experience.

I Burn by mamoniem 2019-05-03T20:23:02Z

The music is good and the graphics are nice too, but it is simply not a game. What differentiates a game from a movie or other medias is the interactivity. Even controversial games of the genre "walking simulator" has some kind of interactivity: you have to walk and point your camera to where you want. Regardless of the quality of your work, it simply doesn't make any sense to be here on Ludum Dare.

This is a game event. You submitted a "JAM GAME", it's literally written on top of the page. I was expecting a game. So I pushed every button of the keyboard and managed only to open the console and change the camera on the Spectator mode, but that was it. I got disappointed. Your work has quality, but not on a game event, maybe in an art one.

Pit King by VeryEvilTomato 2019-05-03T21:29:11Z

Things I didn't like: - The click to update popup is not very practical, it fills the screen unnecessarily. It would be better if it were smaller on top of where you clicked. Also the arrow button doesn't work if there's a turret underneath it. - I built a line of exploding potatoes and they bugged: enemies walked on top of them and didn't explode and when I clicked on some of them, the game would select three or four of them. - I can build walls on top of walls and turrets on top of walls. - I couldn't sell turrets that I misplaced or don't use anymore =( - Very easy.

Things I like: - Audio very well made, since the first second I was already into the music. The in-game sound effects were awesome too. - Art and animations are on point, it seems like a finished game sold on steam, the cannons launching, the enemies walking and dying, everything is very good! I'm a programmer but when I learn Art I want to do something like you guys did here. It remembers me of Super Nintendo games. - Satisfying and fun gameplay. Seeing the turrets shooting ememies feels really good xD.

Very well made and polished game, just a few bugs and the balancing problem, but great overall.

Veggies For Life by Kashif 2019-05-04T19:05:33Z

My notebook has a rather small resolution (1366 x 768) and you chose to not give me the choice to resize the window (with that popup that unity games has, before the game begins). This makes the game totally unplayable, I couldn't read the tutorial entirely and I only saw one seed on the menu.

Woodland Warfare by Kichex 2019-05-01T03:31:21Z

The art is really good, everything is beautiful and polished. The music is nice too. But the gameplay is not so good.

I didn't understand how things worked, there is no tutorial, I thought that my tree could hit his tree, the summon that costs 20 does just a little bit more damage than the one that costs 5, I lost suddenly 2 times, really didn't get what happened. The interface is clunky, I had to click several times on the characters to make it appear the menu on top of them.

I think with more time spent to polish the design and the technical parts, this game could work well.

That Time When I was Reincarnated as a Coin by randomphantom 2019-05-04T21:53:40Z

Hello! I knew you for the game De/Void, it was an awesome game, so I decided to play your entry for this ludum dare too.

I played for much more time than I am proud to admit hahahaha, maybe 1 and a half hour. It was definitely a VERY challenging game, but extremely rewarding too. The mechanic is so simple but you can do so many things with it, it was very smart of you to do this.

Trying to put the coin on the side to let is slide, together with the lock on the camera view was really, really smart.

That ramp on the last level was the hardest part, for sure, but the Esc button that wipes all the dead coins of the way was very well thought.

The animations on the face of coin ant the story were a very nice touch, you have a sensitivity to do simple things that works so well, it's inspiring.

I finished the game with an extremely rewarding feeling, you did an awesome job, again! Good game.

Reaper's Keeper by chelC 2019-05-01T01:59:25Z

One of the best jam games I've ever played!

Absolutely beautiful, all of the art elements are awesome, the character, the monsters, the environment, omg!

The gameplay is very satisfying too, it's simple, engaging, rewarding and addictive! My only complaint is that I wanted more xD. I found it rather easy, on my first playthrough I only slipped once. I think if it had like 3 more levels with increasing difficulty it would be more challenging and even more rewarding.

The music fits the game perfectly, and it's not dull: I'm writing this listening to it on the background and it doesn't become tiresome.

It's cute, fun and very polished, congratulations!

In Exchange For My life by Fahim Faysal 2019-05-04T19:27:07Z

Things I didn't like: - The melee attack is very lackluster. Its animation is too clunky, it doesn't indicates the range of the attack very well, and if I was walking to the left and attacking to the right, it continued to attack to the left. I don't know if it was inteded or not, but anyways, it's confusing. I only used spells for the entire game. - Sometimes the red monsters don't blink when taking damage. - Very easy: the life is currency theme didn't even offer any difficulty, I just spammed spells and my life would be regenerated on the next update room. - Unbalanced: the dash and the other spells are overpowered and it costs just a little health. - It ends too abruptly. I think if it had just one more room with a very strong boss would make it more rewarding and less sudden.

Things I liked: - The animations of the spells are very good. It was very satisfying to use them. - The sprites are very beautiful!

- The cat movement is very irritating: we can only jump forward if we had inertia before jumping and while on air we can't control it, it feels very bad :( - It has a very high bounce effect when hitting things, it doesn't make much sense haha. - I couldn't buy more than one item per lvl, which also doesn't made much sense because I had enough lives. - Why is there a orange bar at the bottom of the screen? - The Descriptions of the items have many typos - The cat simply got stuck while I was jumping from one platform to the other. It remained on the walking animation and didn't move anymore. - The sounds made with the mouth are funny though xD.

PizzoTyping by Carpin 2019-04-30T22:35:24Z

Things I didn't like:

- The bass part of the music made me think that I had made a mistake, I was confused - When I made a mistake, I had to wait for the error animation to continue typing. If I realized that I messed up and continued typing before the animation was finished, it got me another error, because I had already typed a lot of things. It made me feel angry haha. - Repeating words is not bad, but consecutive words I think are not cool on typing games. I had to type "mortadella" three times in a row xP. Variation is nice.

Things I liked: - The pixel art is very beautiful! - The change of music between gameplay and "cutscenes" are nice. - Mafia theme is funny. - Screen shake is juicy. - The sound effects when you get things right and when the level finishes are satisfactory! - The game has a well specified scope, with 10 lvls and a finish screen, I know how hard this is for a jam game xD. - The "tutorial" teaching the core mechanic of the game being made into the "cutscene" to introduce the theme was smart and well done! - I haven't noticed any bugs, my experience was smooth.

I love typing games, had fun playing it, congratulations!

Lifelust by MateusBoga 2019-05-10T19:44:07Z

The gameplay feels clunky. I didn't understand how the staggering works: the skeletons stop attacking me when I attack them? Can I avoid their attacks? When I wait for them to come and I spam my attacks, I take damage. If I try to attack and run, I take damage too. It feel that it's impossible to avoid damage.

Loved the art and music! I liked the variety of items and their mechanics too, very good job on those!

EXO by Firesplash Entertainment 2019-05-03T02:50:23Z

Things I didn't like: - A little confusing. At the start I walked near the building point and it said to press F, but I kept running and hitting F and nothing happened haha. Maybe if the platforms had more contrast with the environment it would indicate it better. - Sometimes I had to press F two times to enter building mode. - I got confused when I built something and then got hit. I thought that some monster was near me while I was building, but then saw nothing. I took some time to remeber that the theme is "Life is currency" and realize what was happening xD. It could have something to indicate why you are losing health while building things. - The green barrier dealt damage to me. Nothing indicates it, I think if it were red it would be better. But even then, I would think that it would be impassable and would try to pass through it just to confirm haha. - The default configuration for mouse sensitivity was way high for me, had to fine tune it before playing. - Monters died with a little bit of health on their life bar. When they were dying, I thought that they were hiding themselves or something. - The music didn't combine very well. I think it fits more into a Horror game, like if you are entering into some unknown place. For this game I think a bit more calm ambient or even a bit of action would fit more. - The Tesla coil simply didn't work, it did nothing. I even upgraded it and it still did nothing. I couldn't sell it too =(. - The cannon hit the tall monster like 50% of the time. If it was intended, it needed to be more clear. - Wave timer is too long, since I already had spent all my life building and upgrading towers and the life I gained per wave was a small amount, there wasn't anything that I could do while waiting for the next wave.

Things I liked: - The ambient is very well done! - Nice graphics for monsters. - Weapons are well modelated. - Particles are beautiful, the catapult explosion was satisfying. - The rate of fire from the weapons are very satisfying too. - The preview for the weapons are very well made.

Sorry for the wall of text and the complaints, I really like tower defense games and I feel that if this game got more polished on those things it would be a really good game!

EXO by Firesplash Entertainment 2019-05-03T17:46:11Z

@firesplash-entertainment Lol, that part about the mushrooms making the sound is nice, didn't notice it haha. I got that this was the intention, to make it creepy, but I think that it just sounded displaced. But it's subjective, for sure.

Now that I'm testing pressing F while walking to the platform, I noticed one more bug: if I enter the building mode and press Esc, I expected that the building preview would disappear, but instead the paused menu appears and when I press F again, it doesn't go to the menu, it builds things, with the pause menu on my screen. Then I have to press Esc three times to open the functionak pause menu again.

And yeah, the bug happens because of what you mentioned: it's the inertia of the movement that causes me to exit the building mode.

One more bug I like to report is that my mouse continues on the screen while I'm playing :p. It remains fixed on the center.

Ohhh, the Tesla slows the enemies... When I saw the tesla I immediately thought that it would electrocute them, didn't even read the text saying "Slowness". That's my bad, sorry. But I think players that don't read things, like me, are very common haha. People like to learn while playing, through experience. Maybe if there was an animation or a sound feedback to accentuate the slowness, you would have a greater guarantee that the players would understand that mechanic.

Now that I'm playing more, I have more feedbacks hehe: - I think it would make more sense that you gained life after a wave ends, instead of when it starts, because you could spend your life in the time between waves. - Maybe if it had a button to immediately start the new wave it would make the game more dynamic. I started with a tesla and a catapult and it made me survive for many waves doing nothing, jut waiting to have enough life to update the catapult. I started to listen to a podcast while waiting for the waves to start haha. - I'm very competitive and when I saw the ranking at the end, this game became much more fun to me hahaha, I had to take the first place. - This made me see the late game, the level design is very good, lots of places to put the weapons, I died on a dead way, very good.

I totally understand not having time to polish the game, it's a jam afterall. Given the limited time, your work is very good!

Rashness by Saering 2019-05-11T10:49:12Z

Awesome art and music, really well done! The music reminded me of Super Meat Boy, which I love!

I liked the build system too.

Just somethings that bothered me a little were: - I was constantly clicking on the same spot the entire game, it's tiring, maybe if we could hold the fire button it would be better. - I chose the dash and speed upgrades. I was constantly going left and the camera wasn't able to follow me properly, I wasn't seeing my character xP.

Overall a very good game, it's inspiring that you did it all alone!

Darkling by jordantanner 2019-05-12T17:36:46Z

I didn't understand the decision of cleaning the enemies at the end of each wave. This makes me don't want to fight them, just run until the time is over. I kept running on the edges of the map and I was able to survive many waves, without shooting or buying upgrades. There is a bug where the character keeps jumping after I press space only once, I think it has something to do with the terrain where you end your jump. Despite those things, the mood is nice, the shooting feels good and the game fits the theme well too, nice job!

Impact! by JoshAnthony1990 2019-05-12T00:36:36Z

This game has a lot of content! Nice art and music. The theme is very funny too, like running out of emails because they will waste your time haha.

But I found the gameplay confusing. I was going through the platforms, then I saw a door and got teleported to some other place unexpectedly. My complecionist self that wants to see all the paths got anxious haha.

The interface to accept or reject something only works with the mouse, interrupting the normal flow of the game.

Maybe an ingame tutorial would help too, because I didn't understand well the two special modes, so I played the whole game with the dodge mechanic haha.

Overall an interesting and funny game.

Attack on Jerry by unplugred 2019-05-04T00:00:01Z

Things I didn't like: - At first I wasn't understanding what I had to do. I took some time to see that there were icons that I could click and took even more time to realize that I could only put turrets on the blue places haha. If it had some simple arrows ponting to the turret and then on a blue place, I think it would be sufficient. - It would be even greater to have like a grid to see exactly where I could put turrets, because what I did was simply spamming clicks and praying to get it there hahaha. I was able to put a lot together, I don't know if it was intended (see picture) - The balancing was not so great, I noticed that the nose was overpowered and just put tons of it every time I had the money. Never got hit. In fact, when I put something like 7 or 8 together, the viruses didn't even left the spawn point lul. - Low variety of enemies. The "nose abuse" could be avoided if some enemies were tankier and slower, so I would have to build a high dmg structure. - I didn't understand why I had to select the number of waves. A beginner won't have reference so he will left the default and if he managed to advance through 5 waves, then why make the game stop? I think it could be 20 by default and don't let the player choose it. - The huge map without a zoom tool or fast movement was not so good too, I had to constantly slowly move through the map to check the two spawn fronts.

Things I liked: - The gameplay is fun, I love tower defense games and you guys had the right idea about the genre. The multiple fronts and the combination of turrets eliminating a bunch of enemies is very satisfying. - The art and the animations are very nice, they follow an art style that is different and simple, but works. It's vapor-wave like haha. - The music is good too, it stands on the background, doesn't overwhelm the player. - The theme was fun.

Overall a fun game that could me more challenging if it had more enemy variety. ld1.png

Mana Drunk by JustusPan 2019-05-04T00:59:28Z

Things I didn't like: - It's a bit confusing the part where we hit the purple one and then he absorbs mana and when we kill him we gain absurd amounts of mana. It scales too fast. It's kind of fun too, but more confusing than fun hahaha. It's too chaotic. - The sound effects stacks when you kill many monsters. It gets really loud. (I use Godot too and have the same problem, don't know how to solve...) - The difficulty curve ramps up too fast. The levels 1-5 are very easy, the green blobs pratically don't count as threats. Then the boss comes and instakills me, lul.

Things I liked: - The effects were very good, like when enemies died or when I threw a large bomb and many died, satisfying. - The music is awesome!! - The boss fight is very challenging. I was satisfied when I finally killed him. - The pixel art is simple but beautiful!

Kill The Money by Copper_Aardvark_Games 2019-05-04T20:22:07Z

Things I didn't like: - The jump is too "floaty", I think if it had more gravity and you had to press the up button longer to jump higher it would feel better. - Having to jump and shoot feels not very practical, if I were able to shoot in the direction of the mouse I think the game would feel more dynamic. - There were an unbalance of levels and weapons. Lots of weapons but only a few levels. I just experienced two weapons =(. - The "Your life is currency" theme was used but it never offered much difficulty - You can only change the direction of you character on the ground, it's a bit strange. Generally, in many games, when you are jumping, if you hit the left button your character immediately starts to face left.

Things I liked: - The art is EXCELLENT, a very cute pixel art. The rolling animation is awesome xD. - The variety of weapons are nice. - The music sets the mood very well, nice sound effects too. - It's absurdly impressive that you made all of this on your own in so little time, really inspiring!

Overall, I think this game has a lot of potential. If you polish the gameplay, I can see this being successful on steam and such.

Your Life, My Currency by Jayometric 2019-05-03T19:40:02Z

Things I didn't like: - The game has many subjective phrases, like I think people that never showered must go to hell and what is wrong about fondling crabs? xD. It makes us lose to learn the mechanics. I don't know if this is the best approach to teach new players. - At the first playthrough I did something like 15/3, because of the previously point, and lost. Again, for the first round, getting 80%+ right and losing, it's not so balanced I guess. - The choice of putting the scan lines was not a good one. It certainly gives the game a personality, a uniqueness. But it worsen the gameplay, which I think is the priority of the players, given the challenging nature of the game.

Things I liked: - The audio is veeeery good, everything about it. The shop, the title, the sound effects, everything is very pleasant. - The pixel art works, it's nice. I liked the style too, jesus and lucifer dressed like office people. - The devil deals were a nice variance to the gameplay, allowing players to choose to take the risk or not. I noticed the catch, that it would be difficult to send EXACTLY X sinners to heaven, and even so I lost haha, it was fun. - After learning which phrases are bad and which are good, the game becomes much more enjoyable. The mechanic of immediately sending someone to hell/heaven let people that got the idea of the game to just be as good as they can, only limiting themselves by their own hability. I felt that I was doing very good and fully entered in "the flow zone" where I didn't blink and my mouth was a little opened hahahaha. I was just living the game, very difficult to do. I was very satisfied with my performance.

Very fun game, well done. ldHs.png

The Last Drop by Fiiction 2019-05-03T22:58:47Z

Things I didn't like: - The gray monster seems to be invincible before he splits himself. I expected that I could kill him if I maintain distance and deal damage equivalent to killing all the little blobs, but I was just wasting life =(. - The initial learning curve and addition of mechanics was very well done, but after you reached full ATK, there was no purpose to use the red seed. I wasted some life to see if they would add more things, but no. Ended up with 20+ red seeds. I think it would be better if the game tracked the ATK bar and when you completed it, it stopped droping red seeds and went right to the yellow ones. - After reaching full Cost upgrades the game should stop, in my opinion. Because there was nothing more to do. The game was so fun, engaging and happy! After getting all buffs, you just repeat the same things over and over. I reached wave 25 and stopped out of boredom. It left a bitter taste. =(

Things I liked: - The music is astonishing, it's absurd how people can make things so good like this in so little time!! I intend to learn music some day and this is what I want to do, amazing! - The art and animations are really, really good too! Little details like the bubble exploding on contact, very well done, really. - The monsters walking pattern is simple but works very well! The fights were challenging. - The bomb mechanic together with the different move speeds of the enemies were very smart. It was like a mini-game to mob them and throw the bomb. See them all dying because you calculated it correctly is very satisfying! - The mix between farming and fighting was very well done too, adds variety.

Overall, one of the best jam games I've played, congratulations!

The Last Drop by Fiiction 2019-05-04T04:04:02Z

@sakkia Ohhh, now I get it, you had to turn your game into something else to fit the limited time. And even so, it's still a great game! I think it indicates that if you invest more time to calmly do the things that you've planned, it will be a success. I'm glad that you will continue it, I hope it works out!

Escape from Hell by Becher 2019-05-11T00:06:36Z

Things I didn't like: - The hitbox of your attack is a bit weird, sometimes I saw that my sword hit the soul blobs but it didn't damage them. - I got confused with the mechanic that I had to use my soul as a bridge to the north pathway to be ressurected, because the NPC says that he will ressurect you, so I collected some souls and then talked to him again, waiting for him to ressurect me, but nothing changed. And the text on the screen was confusing too, because it says "press space to ressurect", so I pressed and nothing happened again haha. There are two ressurecting mechanics here, the one when you spend your soul and the one that brings you back to the living world. They got a bit mixed.

Things I liked: - Nice pixel art and animations! it's amazing that you did it together with the design and the programming. - The whole story that you had to beat one very strong boss is cool, I felt like playing Dark Souls haha. - Being able to talk to the npcs was a nice touch.

Overall a cool experience!

Boskov by Elie 2019-05-03T15:53:24Z

Things I didn't like: - The game crashed when I accidentaly clicked to submit a score without putting a name on the game over screen. - I'm using a Playstation 3 controller, so a tutorial image showing the xbox controller would help me map the buttons mentally, like X being the square on my controller - One of the things that I've learned searching for how to do tutorials is: "Teach gradually through experience". The game starts with all the mechanics already there, it overwhelms the player. I had to lost several times to understand what each thing did.

Things I liked: - The recharge mechanic is very interesting! It makes you use one hand to spin the stick so you can't do other things, it's smart. - The mic mechanic is cool too and it fits the theme. - The pixel art is simple but well done! - If I undestood correctly, that ranking in the game over screen is updated online? That's awesome!

Super Epic Insurance Fraud 3000 by Nigogo 2019-04-30T23:38:45Z

Things I didn't like: - The controls are a bit confusing, sometimes they don't do what I think they should do. - Almost every time that I got hit really hard and was launched out of the screen, I wasn't able to come back, neither walking nor teleporting. It punishes players for good plays. - The teleport mechanic isn't clear on how it works.

Things I liked: - Very funny theme! - The physics works wonderfully to make it fun and engaging. - The point system is addictive: I think I've played for 30min trying to beat my highscore. I swear that I reached 300k!! But I closed the window before taking a print xD. If you keep track of the highscores here on the page and update the top 1, I'm sure it will engage people that already played your game to come back and beat the best score. - Nice work putting two lanes with two ways. If one gets too crowded with stopped cars you can go to the other one to get those sweet fast red cars.

It's one of the ludum dare games that I have played the most, nice job!

BraveBelly (Thiccboy hurdle jump sim) no download required by TomasMunro 2019-05-01T00:09:57Z

Things I didn't like: - The music is very repetitive and the drums are higher than the rest. I missed some kind of melody. - The gameplay is boring. It gets speedy at some point before 100, but then it never gets any harder. There is no penalty to hitting the high hurdle too. I seriously turned on a podcast in the middle of the gameplay. (I only died because I got baited trying to pick a fruit immediately before a hurdle, you are eviiiiil hahaha.) - I didn't understand the commands to walk left and right. Clearly the best place to be is at the left of the screen, to have more time to react to the hurdles appearing, so no use of walking left and right.

Things I liked: - The art is good, the parallax effect is well done! - Funny theme, the pixel art belly is very funny xD.

Our Dear Friend by Wildebeest 2019-05-04T01:51:09Z

Things I didn't like: - The game is very dark. It is not a problem by itself, but I understood that the hook+rope mechanic existed to deal with it, like putting it on the rock you are standing on and then going down into the unknown. But it doesn't work, because monsters keep jumping on you and past the middle you have an invulnerable ghost following you! So you don't have time to use the hook slowly and safely, it works more like a fast traversal mechanic than an exploration one. - Many times I died I felt that it was unfair. Spiders popping out on me, falling into pointy things that I didn't know was there, arrows coming out of nowhere. The only thing that could prevent me from taking those damages is memorizing. After I've died a bunch of times, I had memorized that some place had spikes, some place had a spider and such. I don't know, maybe it's subjective, but I don't like memorizing where every threat are on the map. - The game has mechanics like the arrows, the hookshot and the person that gives you things. I thought that I would have to learn to use those things right, to be able to progress. But in the end, to reach the end of the game, I simply had to ignore all of this and ran as fast as I could, together with the memorizing technique. It rewards reckless, lucky and good memory people instead the ones that really try to use the game mechanics.

Things I liked: - The ambient was amazing, the little creatures that gave you life shining just a bit was a nice touch. It really sets the mood. - The music helps with the mood too, it's good. - It has a compelling story, you want to go further to learn more. - The hookshot works very well (I'm trying to make a game with the same mechanic, it's remarkable that you managed to make it work in such a small time!!) - I haven't noticed any bugs, everything works perfectly! - The arrow works perfectly too, being able to recollect it is awesome!

Overall, it's a difficult game that has an interesting ambient, story and core mechanics, very difficult to do in a jam, good job!

LD45 — Start with nothing

Chronicles of the Mattock by NickZangus 2019-10-18T00:20:39Z

Things I didn't like: * You can rotate the camera to see inside things, like the house at the beginning. * Lots of repetitive messages, it discouraged me to keep talking to npcs and searching houses. * The skeleton were able to hit me while he were on the death animation. I could hit him too after my attack animation ended. * People kept telling me that there were a cemetery that I could loot, but it seems that it was just a joke =(. I kept searching for it on the whole map!

Things I liked: * The funnniest game I have ever played on ludum dare, nice creativity xD * The graphics are very nice! Alongside with the music, they set up the mood very well. * The credits scene was very well polished and funny haha

Really nice work with the art!

Draconomics by CyberStarLight 2019-10-19T21:31:03Z

Things I didn't like: * I put the game on fullscreen and went to read the instructions, but it didn't fit my monitor's resolution, I couldn't read it properly =(

* When the dragon thinks about a gem, I thought that it immediately meant that he wanted it, so I let a mole bring it to me, which punished me. I think in a fast paced game, if it happened immediately it would be better.

* I took a while to understand that the button that gives me capacity activates a thing that I must build somwehere. It would be a lot better if it had a clear feedback on the screen, like a message saying "BUILD IT! PLACE IT SOMEWHERE!"

Things I liked: * Extremely challenging and fun gameplay! * Simple but nice art! * Very good and fitting music!

One of the best games that I have played on this LD, good job!

Please Move by aeveis 2019-10-16T06:03:56Z

Things I didn't like: * I took a while to understand the goal and what I had to do, it felt like trial and error for the most part.

Things I liked: * The mood is set perfectly: the music, the motivational messages, the narrative with the doubt cloud, very chill. * Awesome pixel art! * Nice ending, very cute and beautiful.

Void Prisoner by BoxedMeatRevolution 2019-10-18T06:06:53Z

Things I didn't like: * The game bugged when a clone slug ate a burning ghost orb (yeah, very specific lol). I couldn't pick the resulting ghost orb. * I found another bug where I restarted the page and made the two ghost orbs WITHOUT spawning the purple guy, so there was no feedback saying that I win or not =(

Things I liked: * This game is hilarious hahaha. The dialogue is so goofy and random, I laughed a lot when my character slowly said >:| and >:-), so many expressions on these simple texts

* The hints spread between dialogues were very helpful and at the same time didn't directly spoil things.

* It was very fun to discover the interactions between monsters and the player mechanics, like you having to pick up the slug to make the cat copy it without letting the slug eat it, or hiding a burning sphere to let the slug eat only one and etc.

* The music and sound effects fit the game so well!

* The tutorial blended with the narrative was very clever.

This was the game where I spent the most on this ludum dare, very simple but engaging game, congratulations!

Dear Diary by Rodrigo Denúbila 2019-10-18T04:02:51Z

Things I didn't like: * Sometimes the voice was being played from a place at the room instead of centered on the main character, this made the sound change when I moved the camera or the player, breaking the immersion a bit. * I was not sure where to go at the beginning, so I randonly walked between rooms and nothing happened, it was a little frustrating, especially because of the slow walking pace. * The collision was not on point, the main character would enter on objects all the time, breaking the immersion again.

Things I liked: * Wow, voice acting!!! I think this is the first ludum dare entry that I ever saw with voice acting, and it was so well made! Astonishing! * Nice narrative! * Very good movement on the models, I was not expecting so much detail on a LD game.

Orudo Taima by thomas-olsson 2019-10-19T22:47:58Z

Things I didn't like: * The texts appear weirdly on my screen, don't know if it's because of my resolution (1366x768).

* The texts at the beginning moved without input from the player, it would be better if they too had the option to "click to continue" that the levels have.

* I noticed that I was able to walk on the ceiling of the "First steps" stage. I thought that this was intended and would have a secret or something but I just ended up falling through the stage and dying hahaha. The level with the platform that throws me into the air, near the portal, have this flaw too. I ended up on a place with nothing but death =(.

* The first enemy that I encountered was the thing that stays on the ceiling and shoots at me. I tried to jump with the stick and hit it, but apparently it is invulberable, don't know why

* Apparently the shooting enemy only dies if hit by a pole? So if it's on the ceiling it's impossible to kill it? This is not intuitive.

* The enemies don't take damage to the spikes, which is a bit confusing.

* I can jump with W but not with the up-arrow.

Things I liked: * The sound effects are AWESOME! Arriving at the stages and hearing the sound of the car engine an door being closed sets up the mood very nicely!

* I loved the "tutorial". Making the first stage without enemies or something that could harm the player was an excellent choice. Teaching how to attack with immobile targets and such.

* The mechanic to throw the items fits the game very well, because it would be very bothersome to walk all the stage many times to pick up things. The portal later into the game helped a lot with this too.

* Very challenging and fun gameplay!

* The juiciness when hitting enemies, with the brief pause to transmit a feeling of impact was very well made!

* I noticed that when you reach the end of a platform and are already falling for like 0.2s, you are still able to jump, which is a WONDERFUL quality of life mechanic on a platformer, knowing that players tend to jump at the last moment, very very nice.

* The gameplay loop of fighting, gathering and fixing the boat is satisfying.

* The pixel art and animation are smooth and beautiful.

* Nice level design, especially the one with the screen moving.

Maybe the most well polished game that I've ever played on all the game jams that I've participated!

Cerrado Rangers by gustavo.christino 2019-10-18T00:38:32Z

Things I didn't like: * The first shop confused me, because I had a lot of money but couldn't buy things. Only later on the level that I understood how it worked.

Things I liked: * Very challenging! The enemies were simple but their pattern were difficult enough to be engaging. * The music set the mood very well, putting me in a kind of "urgency" mind state. * Nice pixel art! * The whole theme of putting of fires and rescuing firefigthers is cool.

Nice game! (o nome é bem legal também, bem chamativo pra brs haha)

Nothing Left by Solah 2019-10-18T03:37:37Z

Things I didn't like: * If I restarted the game when some message was still being typed, both would get typed resulting in a strange gibberish haha

gibberish.png

Things I liked: * The dash animation is very smooth! I felt like a ninja * Nice mood, the graphics reminded me of old game boy games, oh the nostalgia. * The instant restart pressing R is very nice, especially on a game where you can die easilly. * The narrative added an interesting depth to the game. * Smooth fighthing gameplay!

WHILE (TRUE) { JAM(); } by cybersoftuk 2019-10-16T02:49:35Z

Things I didn't like: * The game tells me that I'm hungry but I couldn't find how to eat some pizza =( * It doesn't let me work on the music if I don't complete the other modules and I couldn't manage to complete the code part, I guess because I was hungry and needed food, but couldn't find food... * I think the bar that tells me my energy level is bugged, it stays on 80%, I only knew that I was at 10% energy at the sleep menu

Things I liked: * The art module is very fun! * The timer fits the jam theme and makes the game very challenging! It makes me want to keep retrying until I get it, it's fun. * The graphics set the mood nicely, well done!

The meta-idea to do a game about the jam process is awesome, I think if you had managed to complete all the features or at least make the game able to be finished it would definitely be a 5/5 game!

typ0; by siimer 2019-10-16T18:38:43Z

Things I didn't like: * At level 8 there's a hidden wall on the part with "f"s

Things I liked * Excellent take on the typing genre! In general I like to type things fast on those games but in this game you have to type it precisely, it's different and very fun! * Nice level design, especially level 6. * I liked the highscore too, it hypes up the challenge

A simple but very fun game, good job!

Epic story of a nobody by The Osk 2019-10-18T01:05:06Z

Things I didn't like: * The narrative at the beginning, together with the messages when you kill 10 enemies, appeared and disappeared too fast, I wasn't able to read it entirely =( * There were paths that I couldn't escape, like fighting the bandits at the bandit camp. If I refused to fight, there were nothing to do. * I entered the jewel shop and said I wasn't happy for not helping the merchant. Later, I reentered there to see if something had changed, and this time I said I was happy, just to see what would happen. The game crashed hahaha, I'm sadder now for not helping him =(. * The battles felt like a grind. I won a lot of money but there were nothing to buy, I didn't have a goal to fight.

Things I liked: * Nice art, it gives the game an unique personality. * It was very funny!

ReWorld by Firesplash Entertainment 2019-10-18T04:39:28Z

Things I didn't like: * The first tutorial was very confusing: it gave me a lot of cards on the left part of the stage. I picked the music one with E and nothing happened. So I searched a place where I could put it to make it work, walking to the right. I found a different wall, walked to it and the "tutorial completed" message appeared, lol. You shouldn't let the player exit the tutorial without guaranteeing that he understood the mechanic you are trying to teach. I only understood what I had to do by holding ESC and playing the level again.

* I think that putting the timer on the screen by default gives the player a feeling of anxiousness, which is not optimal in my opinion. It is definitely a good feature if the player is playing to beat it fast, but not while he is learning how to play.

Things I liked: * The idea of unlocking features of the game like the music and light is very cool! * The design idea of mixing colors is clever and interesting! * The puzzles were challenging but not very hard, just the right difficulty.

Overall an interesting and nice puzzle game, good job!

Blueprint Blast by Tui 2019-10-16T04:44:54Z

Wow, what an experience! It kept on adding new elements of gameplay, I definitely wasn't expecting the music creation part xD. The editor works really well, it was really cool to create my own things and seeing them becoming alive. The mood set by the physics and graphics is very funny!

Really well done guys, it amazes me how many things you were able to do!

Cave by Team-on 2019-10-16T02:35:23Z

Things I didn't like: * Lots of typos, both here on the site and ingame

* If you keep clicking on the resources, you keep hitting it forever. It only gets destroyed if you stop clicking

* If you keep walking upwards you get out of the map into the blackness lol

* I was very confused to what to do with the resources that I collected and if I could interact with the mouthed box

Things I liked * The art and animation are really beautiful!

* The mood is set nicely

Beyond the Veil by Wolfrug 2019-10-18T03:15:02Z

Things I didn't like: * The game is kind of buggy: when I hit W a blue circle appeared for just a moment and then faded, very confusing. I took a long time to udnerstand that the powers were related to the answers that I gave. * The sound effects were strangely loud. * When I put the game on fullscreen it doesn't changes the resolution to fit mine, which is smaller. I had to zoom out the screen to make it work. * I can only attack facing left.

Things I liked: * The mood is awesome! * Nice music. * Awesome art!! The items, the main character, the enemy and the room. Everything is very beautiful! * After I understood that the powers were related to the answers, I liked it very much! A nice concept! * Maybe the best narrative that I have ever encountered on a ludum dare game, it really got me engaged and curious.

When I realized I was walking towards the mysterious door of the story it felt very good haha, awesome game!

Girl in a Dungeon by Phoenix Fireflower 2019-10-18T02:23:41Z

Things I didn't like: * I noticed some buggs, like when the brown tower hit me while jumping I got pushed far away, and if I happen to be pushed into a coin, the game restarted with the coin picked up already lol. * The brown tower collides with the green tower, making it stop sometimes.

Things I liked: * The level design is very cool: the mechanic which involves luring the brown tower while not getting too close is fun. * The art is cute and well done!

Spooky: The one who lost everything by Susumu Asaga 2019-10-16T05:31:27Z

Things I didn't like: * The movement is not very precise: if I do just a little tap on a key, I expect the player to move just a little bit, but in this game it moves a bit far. * I encountered a bug many times, where I possessed the lamp right when the enemy spell was about to hit me, in which it didn't dissapear and when I exited the lamp, it killed me.

Things I liked: * The music sets the mood very well! I liked the sound effects too, they give a nice feedback to the player. * The art is beautiful, it inspires me to be able to do something like that when I eventually learn pixel art xD * I loved that the things you possess changes their appearence to have the ghost in it, a cute detail. * Nice level design, especially the last one, it's impressive how many mechanics you guys extracted from the lamp! * It even has a narrative too, which was told little by little, not overwhelming the player.

Really awesome game, I definitely see it as one of the best from this ludum dare!

The Legend of the Empty One by SpicyPaper 2019-10-16T02:59:53Z

Things I didn't like: * I took a while to understand that I could pick all the powers on the first level, maybe if it had some instructions and explanations that later you would need to manage the powers that you get it would make more sense. * The item selector phase is not clear that it is an item selector phase haha, I only understood when it ended * Most of the time that I took damage were because monsters spawned on top of me, without a warning. It's frustrating because you can't do anything against it * The game ended when I killed the boss while there were still enemies on the board * I didn't know if the enemy that healed other enemies would heal me too. It looks like it's a friendly unit, maybe because it's all green.

Things I liked: * Very fun and challenging gameplay! * Great variety of enemies. * The management of items is an awesome mechanic because it has puzzle elements, in which you have to fit items, and it also let the player decide what strategy fits his style, very nice! * The item selector art is cool.

LD46 — Keep it alive

Tumble Baby by 01010111 2020-04-29T08:25:22Z

Awesome concept! It was very well executed! I liked how you introduced us to the core mechanic on the first level, without having any hazard. I love tutorials that teach you gradually through experience! Very nice art and sound! I just found it strange that the baby was able to walk through the spikes though haha. And the difficulty ramped up very quickly, I couldn't manage to beat the level where the bear was at the middle, it was much harder than the previous ones.

Potater Toss by BoxedMeatRevolution 2020-04-21T22:39:47Z

Yaay, I made the perfect potater and never need to eat again!

I remember playing your game "Void Prisioner" and thinking it was very weird, but this one is even more hahaha. I took a long time to understand what I had to do (besides punching the potato). I think if you made more clear that the knife doesn't hurt the player and, if the butter came sooner, the goal of the game would be more clear. I had problems with that box with 2% written on it, it wasn't combining with the potato, so I got confused, thought that I should let the knife hit it, but then nothing happened, it was frustrating.

Overall it was very fun, humorous and the music and sound effects were really well done!

Rampage by PhilStrahl 2020-04-20T09:11:55Z

Things I didn't like: * The sound effect of the ram charging is pleasant when you hear for a few seconds. But when it repeats for too long it gets annoying, even more at the beginning of the game :(

Things I liked: * The art is very cute and beautiful. * The music is something that I would expect from a paid game, it's awesome! * The level design is interesting. I understood immediately what I had to do at each level. They are neither too easy nor too difficult, well balanced. * It has a tutorial! And it teaches gradually with instant feedback, very nice! It's cleaner than what I did in my game, which was simply writing things directly on the screen.

I remember you saying in one of your videos that you don't know how to make fun games. This game is really fun! And absolutely beautiful too. You should be proud of yourself :)

Healing Quest by kazuo256 2020-04-22T01:26:05Z

Things that could be improved: * At the beginning I wasn't sure if my skill healed 3 hearts or all of them. Maybe if the character had 1/5 hearts instead of 2/5 it would indicate better that I heal 3 hearts.

* Sometimes there were lots of things happening in the screen and the sprites ended up overlapping each other, which led to some problems: * When I clicked to use a spell I wasn't sure if it was being cast or not. If, for example, the pointer disappeared when the spell was cast it would be a better feedback.

* It wasn't very clear that the skill casting was being canceled by taking damage.

* It was a little hard to select one specific character to heal or buff. Maybe if it had some squares on the UI with the characters face and health it would make it easier to select an specific character.

Things I liked: * It's fun to strategize things like who am I going to shield, who am I going to buff, wether to wait for the perfect heal, or heal only 2 hearts to manage cooldown etc.

* The AI is nice, works as you would expect from a decent RPG party.

* The music and sound effects are incredible!

* The graphics are awesome! Everything has a cute animation: attacking, being hit, casting spell, walking. It's very well polished!

Overall, a beautiful, fun and challenging game. Good job!

Tiny Fragments by Daniel Moreno 2020-04-20T10:15:54Z

Things I didn't like: * Sometimes I forgot that the character bounces back at the end of the screen. I was sure that it would fall off and die haha. Maybe if it had a stronger indication of that mechanic it would be more clear. * The fact that the character paused when I was holding a piece made me play the whole game holding a piece hehehe. I don't know if this behavior was intended or not, but if it had a pause/play button it would lessen the hassle of holding the mouse button for long periods of time. * I found a bug: I was typing my thoughts on my cellphone while the character was bouncing over and over and it eventually fell off the screen and the game crashed. (maybe something to do with rounding errors?) feedback1.png

Things I Liked: * The art is simple but very cute and polished. Everything has an animation, nice work! * The music is pleasing, fits the game very well and the loop isn't tiring. * Nice level design! It reached that point in puzzle games where I felt good and smart when I finished a level haha, this must be very hard to design. * The concept is very interesting, I can't remember other games with a similar concept.

Your game inspired me! It has a small scope, with just a few mechanics, which probably let you focus on polishment, good level design and to make a complete experience. This is the way that I want to go on Compos. This is my first time doing Compo and my scope was too big. Next time I will remember your game!

GhostVac by christina-antoinette-neofotistou 2020-04-29T07:38:49Z

One of the most polished graphics I have ever seen on Ludum Dare. I really felt like I was at an arcade machine! The game is very fun to play: after I finished it, it made me want to play again, which happens very rarely on game jams. The only thing that bugged me was that sometimes I managed to hit a door perfectly but the other balls inside threw my ball away :(

Overall a really great entry!

Shooty Moony by flyingbear 2020-05-12T06:18:54Z

I spent a lot more time on this game than I imagined haha!

The gameplay loop of going into combat as long as I can take it, earning money, and then spending it, is quite fun and is a great way to keep engagement: I spent 1 hour playing!

The mechanic of the player spinning around the Earth is very interesting, because you cannot simply click endlessly in the direction of enemies, you have to care about the angle that you are going to shoot in order to not to hit the Earth. At the end of the game I was shooting to reposition myself as much as to attack enemies and that is brilliant! The narrative of you being the Moon fits this very well too, you nailed it.

I think the only thing I didn't like was that my shots hurt the Earth. It was inconsistent with the fact that the balls that bounce off enemies don't damage the Earth and when I lost because I accidentaly hit it, it got me extremely frustrated. Perhaps if the shots were simply absorbed by the Earth it would be less frustrating and would still achieve the goal of it serving as a barrier.

I liked the variety of enemies, behaviors and items. Everything is very well balanced!

I really liked the fact that it was a game with a small scope and simple, yet functional, interface and graphics. This is exactly the type of game I want to make. I will bookmark it and will definitely revisit it to seek inspiration on my next jams!

Sisters' Lighthouse by imod 2020-04-21T07:41:11Z

I felt confused about the story. I didn't understand it all, even after the end. The bad ends frustrated me and I think some of them are very abrupt. But the art is AMAZING! And the music too! One of the best graphics that I have ever seen on a ludum dare game, really well done!

File Survival by Probe31 2020-04-28T06:04:58Z

Nice idea, the concept is very fun but I had lots of problems: the hitboxes were very weird, I had to click in the left part of the icons to move them. I never passed through the rename file part because I'm very used to hit "F2" to rename a file in my computer and when I press it on the game, the screen gets very small haha, it's confusing.

When I reopened the game and managed to click on the rename button, it didn't go automatically to the box where I write the name. I had to click on it to start typing, which is weird. I loved the idea, the audio and the graphics but I think the gameplay was a bit off.

Protect the Walnut! by Eduardo Yukio 2020-04-20T22:13:49Z

@goldfish-games Oh, I never thought of implementing the double jump like that, next time I will try it out, thanks!

@barelos @saviqq Which part of the controls was hard to work with? Would you prefer to use another set of buttons? Thank you very much for the feedback, I'm very glad that you guys liked the level design!

Protect the Walnut! by Eduardo Yukio 2020-04-22T06:06:36Z

@makiyoshi Thanks Maki! I really should've explained the mouse direction thing haha.

@imod Thank you for the feedback! Yeah, I messed up the controls :p.

@daniel-moreno I'm very glad that you liked the messages and the cute Walnut hehehe. I'll definitly put more effort in the player movement next time.

@kazuo256 Thank you very much for the comprehensive feedback! You are absolutely right, I intend to finish this game occasionally and I'll take all of your tips into consideration!

Protect the Walnut! by Eduardo Yukio 2020-04-23T19:40:51Z

@blaster391 You're not being silly at all! I'm sorry, I should have explained this inside the game: the strength of the launch is tied to how far the mouse is from your character. So if you want to throw it far away, point the mouse far away!

Protect the Walnut! by Eduardo Yukio 2020-05-12T00:25:41Z

@coolestdoggie @kszaku @eric-lagergren @cobear25 @dk5000p Thank you for the feedback! Yeah, the controls could be better implemented and the difficulty curve was a bit steep, I shouldn't demand perfect execution from the player on the tutorial level :P

I'm very happy that you guys liked the design and found the game cute haha

@PTSnoop Great implementation idea, this is very valuable to me, I will definitely try it next time!

Protect the Walnut! by Eduardo Yukio 2020-05-12T00:36:10Z

@flyingbear WOW! I feel extremely honored to know that the director of a game I love played my game! Plants vs Zombies is my favorite Tower Defense game and, yeah, your character designs inspired me a lot hehe.

I'm very glad you liked my tutorial! And you are right, I certainly should have mentioned that clicking far away would throw the walnut far away.

My intention with the tall wall puzzle was to use the walnut as a stool, where you could climb on it to get further (and then you would leave it behind and another concept related to the metallic bow tie would be introduced 😏). But your way of thinking is totally valid! It just didn't cross my mind during development, I should've playtested to avoid these game breaking moments.

I'm a big fan of your work! Your feedback was extremely meaningful to me, thank you very much!

Running Old Game On Windows 10 Simulator 2020 by Kszaku 2020-04-22T06:42:23Z

I like VERY MUCH these types of games that break the 4th wall and make you mess with things outside of the game. But I never expected to find something like that on a Ludum Dare! It was very unexpected and a pleasant experience, really unique game, great job!

By the way, have you played [Notpron](http://notpron.com/)? If not, I think you will like it ;)

Embers by Barelos 2020-04-28T04:54:59Z

At the beginning there was too much text, functioning both for teaching and as narrative, and I think this is not very optimal. If you could teach the player gradually through experience it would be less overwhelming. The narrative is a nice touch though! The concept is very good, I felt like playing Don't Starve, having to collect things and come back to the fire at the same time that you fight monsters, it's a fun dynamic.

At the beginning too, a monster spawns too close to the girl too quickly. You punish new players too heavily. It would be nice if you let the player understand how to pick up items and put them on the firewood first, and then spawn a monster.

The shadow effects were very well made! Nice job!

Saving The Light by Dpeet1 2020-04-22T07:47:51Z

Things that could be improved: * When you die a lot and the music keeps reloading it becomes a bit irritating. I noticed the importance of maintaining the music playing when I played Super Meat Boy, it lessen the frustration.

* I like hard games, but this one was evil (or it was bugged). On the level that had many disappearing platforms, that you need to keep climbing up, there is a platform that has no collision!!! It was very hard to reach it, and when I finally did, I fell right through it... Then I suspected that I had made something wrong, so I climbed again and fell again, it was very sad =(. (It is near two red squares and a blue one, after the two feathers, don't know how to explain it better xP)

Things I liked: * The idea of using the light as the player's health is very interesting!

* The game is very well polished, lots of particles and pretty lights.

* Nice music and sound effects!

* I liked the idea of the two sets of platforms, you need to memorize and get the right rhythm, very fun!

Overall a great game, with a nice mood to it, just wish I could finish it =(.

Little Restaurant of Horrors by Goldfish Games 2020-04-28T04:32:45Z

Interesting concept! On my resolution (1366 x 768) the text got a bit broken, I couldn't read it very well. I felt a little confused about what I was doing in the game, like if I was choosing correctly or not. There is no hint either, at least I didn't get any. But overall it had a nice mood and I feel that it has a lot of potential!

iCroog by TyXo666 2020-04-22T05:17:51Z

Things that could be improved: * The controls were a bit confusing, I would enjoy more if the movement was straight up, down, left and right instead of an "isometric" kind of way.

* It would be cool if the drinking animation were faster, I became a little impacient after the first level.

Things I liked: * Very funny game! Naturally, when I lose in a game I get frustrated, but in your game, the loss animation and sound effects are very funny, I laughed every time. * The graphics are awesome! * The concept is very innovative too, well done!

Bug Smashers! (HTML5) by Plopmenz 2020-04-23T06:50:24Z

Things that could be improved: * I discovered a strategy that worked very well: run through the borders, then kill the clusters on the center and repeat. This turned the game into a resistance one, where the only factor that made me lose was that my hand was tired of clicking xD. If you let the player hold the mouse button to hit continually and if the respawns got a little faster, like, every 10 seconds, it would make the game more skill-based and it won't cause hand pains on the player hehe.

Things that I liked: * The music is very soothing.

* It's very humorous, the quit button escaping from me, the FPS slowing down and eventually crashing the computer, it was very funny and creative!

* The graphics are simple but nice, the lights were a nice touch to it.

* The minimap was a really nice addition, I was playing looking more at it than to the main screen!

Overall a really fun game, but gave me hand pain haha. feedback3.png

TamagotchIT by spyranteros 2020-04-21T00:45:51Z

Nice entry! I like reaction games, so I enjoyed your game very much! The humour is awesome too xD.

I would suggest just some kind of difficulty progression, like, for every 10 points the game gets a little sped up. I think it would make it even better! Got 123 points!

Keep E.T Alive by Saviqq 2020-04-28T05:35:41Z

Things that could be improved: * I had some problems picking up the items, it wasn't very responsive, and when the game was going very fast it became frustrating. * The fail sound effect was a bit annoying after some time.

Things I liked: * The idea of having to look at different places like the monitor and the E.T. body is very fun! * You managed to use the theme in a very humorous way haha.

I got 350 points! It was very fun!

Twist Turn Shoot Burn by gamepopper 2020-10-10T10:05:18Z

I found your postmortem randomly while I was searching for chronolapse lol, and I liked it very much, your tips are excellent! Especially those about scope and sticking to what you know: my biggest mistakes on my last two compos.

This game is simple but very fun! I played the postjam and it is bugging a little though: the characters teleport a little bit forward near the corners.

The music is AWESOME!! I left the game open while I write this so I can continue listening hehe. I'm a programmer who is willing to learn how to do these kind of music, so let me ask you: how did you learn? I'm planning to study some basic music theory but don't know where to go from there.

Thanks for the tips and the fun!

Toucan's Revenge by AfroAnt 2020-10-11T23:24:07Z

Wow, what a different game!!

The art style is very unique, I liked it but the main character sometimes gets blended with the background.

On my resolution the game was cropped: I couldn't see the whole window (my resolution is 1366x768).

I started very confused with what I was supposed to do, but the Help button was a nice addition to reduce the confusion.

I liked the riddles but the game resetting everytime I made a mistake was very frustrating.

Overall, its a nice and unique entry! Good job!

Electro-loop-tion by BoxedMeatRevolution 2020-10-06T10:56:55Z

Couldn't play, the window was stuck on the upper left corner and I could only see one button (resolution: 1366 x768)

Electro-loop-tion by BoxedMeatRevolution 2020-10-13T20:23:06Z

@boxedmeatrevolution Now it worked! I found love <3

The humor is nice, the mechanics are interesting and different, I just didn't think it was clear that if I teleported to a plyon it would disappear.

The pixel art and animations are cute, the sound effects work very well, overall it's a nice and fun puzzle game!

Anomaly 47 by PhilStrahl 2020-10-06T08:16:40Z

Yaaay, I managed to escape! As always, you did an extremely good job of setting a nice mood, writing a compelling narrative and creating amazing graphics!

The player's movement was a bit off though, I got stuck at some small spaces, losing precious seconds.

Another little detail that bothered me was the fact that I couldn't tell which things were interactable without getting close, making me have to touch everything that I saw. Maybe if the interactable things had some kind of highlight, like some glow, it would improve the gameplay.

Overall, a very nice entry, good job!

Stuck in a Loop (station) by erikiene 2020-10-06T07:50:35Z

I tried to play it but apparently my computer can't handle the graphics haha. I wonder if there is a way to lower the graphics settings, like with those older unity games that had a launcher with the option to select the resolution and graphic quality.

Stuck in a Loop (station) by erikiene 2020-10-06T20:57:42Z

@mackandrius Thank you very much for the consideration! I still have some lag issues, but it's playable and very enjoyable. Got stuck on the tv room too though haha

Ribbon by 100th_Coin 2020-10-10T02:09:21Z

It's a very charming game!

The art is very well done, so cute, everything very well polished with animations and particles!

The music is excellent too, very lively and matches the game.

The mechanics of the tape and walking around with it by cutting the level is mindblowing, I am very impressed that you managed to implement it in such a short time! And it works very well, without any bugs!

When I looked at the theme, I already knew that many games would implement it in a very frustrating way, like making you lose progression by looping you back in time. But you managed to implement something that fits the theme perfectly and also is very fun and rewarding, great job!!

The only problem is that the game ends too quickly hahaha, I wanted to play more!!

Awesome game!!

Demongraft by kazuo256 2020-10-06T11:39:26Z

This game is sooo beautiful! I got to the end in an unintentional way and got very surprised by it, excellent job!

The Looper's Path by UnidayStudio 2020-10-06T10:10:18Z

Awesome entry!!

The graphics are absolutely well done! I loved that the music is nice to hear and also serves a purpose to let me know when I'm running out of time.

The design was very nice too, I have already seen the clone mechanic on Braid, but here you guys expanded and improved on it, nice job!

One of the best entries that I've played on this jam!

Oplo by Harry Alissavakis 2020-10-07T07:00:18Z

I liked the implementation of the movement mechanic from *Crypt of the Necrodancer*.

Amazing graphics and music, very polished and beautiful.

The gameplay gets a bit repetitive: I reached level 19 and the stage with 2 zombies on the right repeated at least 3 times.

Besides that, it's a very fun and pretty game!

GOTO START; by simex 2020-10-07T07:44:15Z

I think the idea of the game is nice but maybe it lacked playtesting, because it was too easy. I just spammed my cards and won. At the end, I got scared when I saw a lot of enemies, but then I just killed the weak ones and left the last one permasleep. It didn't need much of a strategy.

I liked very much the graphics, referring to text editors, nice. The music and sound effects are very good too.

Great entry!

Cake Factory by flyingbear 2020-10-06T09:25:13Z

I loved the tutorial, it introduced the mechanics very well, little by little, through experience, nice!

The turbo button was a nice quality of life feature too.

It would be nice to have the option to resize the screen: in my resolution (1366 x 768), the screen was cut off at the top and bottom, I could barely see the level indicator.

The level design was really clever, I felt very good passing through level 11, but I think it ramped up too quickly: my head started to hurt a little thinking about the two inverters at level 12 haha.

Overall, it's a very fun game! Good job!

App-ocalypse by ReDDarKwh 2020-10-09T00:11:27Z

I liked the theme, it's very funny!

But the resolution is very strange, on my monitor I couldn't see my score neither half of the lower balloon (my resolution is 1366x768). I lost and didn't understand why, maybe it has some sort of warning that I couldn't see because of the resolution, but it was frustrating.

Haighper Lewp by mmiddleton 2020-10-09T23:41:08Z

Hi! I think one of you are Saphirako, from twitch? I saw your game link on the Simpathey stream! And I won one of your gift subs haha, thanks!

The ray field button was very hard to notice! It wasn't very clear that after I respawned on the yellow button I should have walked down the stairs. I thought that I had made some mistake, then I remade my path many times, pulling the levers and this was frustrating because nothing changed and I kept going back because of the loop.

The controls were a little hard too. Space, Enter and Esc are a bit far apart from each other, maybe if it was like Space to activate interactive view, Click to interact and Space again to exit it would be more convenient.

The character animation is cute, I loved the little ball floating haha. The graphics are nice, there are light and reflections, very good!

I liked that it stops the timer when you are on the interactive mode too, nice quality of life feature.

Overall, an interesting and different game! Nice job!

SAW: 60 Second Loop by PatrickRMC 2020-10-08T08:02:42Z

This is a very unique game! hahaha

I liked very much the mood, the ambientation and the graphics style (it reminded me of playstation 1). I suppose you were recording your voice in the middle of the night, so you couldn't talk loud or something? haha, because it is a bit muffled. Maybe if it had subtitles to accompany the speech, it would make it easier to understand the instructions.

I managed to beat all the mini-games, but the number that appears to me on the wall isn't working. If I were supposed to do something with it, the clue definitely isn't clear, because I tried a lot. The clicking mini-game is fun and the one with the keys reminded me of some flash games, especially that one with the jump scare haha.

Overall, it's a very interesting and nostalgic game!

Chronic Curse by Diego Escalante 2020-10-05T10:47:36Z

Very beautiful game! It'so well polished: animations, sound effects, screen shake, everything very well done.

I have only a few criticisms and they are kind of subjective: one of my biggest fears when I read the theme was making a game that fit the theme very well, but that wasn't much fun for most players, like these "while (true)" games. The mechanic of going back to a previous position in time is nice and fits the theme very well, but I didn't find it very fun, perhaps due to the lack of control. Several times I had already used up the shift power and the yellow bar would be over half, making any further movement useless, so I just stand still waiting for the cycle to end, which is not much fun. I think I would enjoy more if I had more control.

Another little detail is that the difference between a low jump and a high jump is very small, and sometimes, when there are segments with spikes on the ceiling, for example, it would be nice to have the option of making small jumps.

On my last two compos I made platform games as well, and I always do poorly on the polishing and audio parts, so your game is a big inspiration to me, especially on those aspects. Nice job!

Tower of Madness by Eduardo Yukio 2020-10-05T07:20:59Z

@jcmonkey Thank you for the feedback! I initially went with the WASD+Space+Shift scheme but then I realized that my left hand was doing all the work and was getting tired haha, so I tried to balance the commands between the hands and maybe ended up restraining too much. I made a new version implementing your suggestion, I think this qualifies as a minor fix on the compo rules. Thanks again!

@zachary-barbanell I appreciate that you played my game even without liking the genre! I put a lot of effort on trying to replicate the difficulty of those hard platform games, so your comment made me happy, thanks!

Tower of Madness by Eduardo Yukio 2020-10-05T20:17:02Z

@diego-escalante HAHAHA! When I implemented the moving spikes I imagined that people could get paranoid and I laughed out loud, all alone in the middle of the night, like a maniac. I'm very happy that it, indeed, happened! You are right, I intended to improve the ledge jumping by implementing the "coyote time", allowing the player to jump just over the edge, but there was no time =(. Thanks for playing!

Tower of Madness by Eduardo Yukio 2020-10-06T21:21:22Z

@kazuo256 You are definitely right about the feedbacks, I intended to do them when I was going to implement the polishing effects like particles, screen shake, sound effects, but there was no time xP. I didn't know what a *tsukkomi* character was, but now that I've researched it, I see that my character fits this category very well haha. You are right about the autosave too, I planned to follow the VVVVVV style of checkpoints: many of them, spread around the level, but I was desperately implementing it on the last 30 minutes hahaha.

@kazuo256 @makiyoshi Thank you very much for the kind words! It means a lot to me that you guys liked the humor and the art <3

Tower of Madness by Eduardo Yukio 2020-10-07T10:43:53Z

@schraf Hmm, do you played on the web version? Sometimes I experienced a bit of lag there too, when I had many tabs opened, but on the Windows version I think it was fine.

@cryptomnesic This was the best short compliment that I have ever received, thank you hahaha

@judgezedd I playtested with some friends a couple of hours before the deadline and they mentioned that it was frustrating to respawn at the beginning everytime, so I thought about adding checkpoints. I'm very glad that you noticed it and extremely happy with your kind words <3.

About the tower thing, you are right hahahahaha. I only noticed the incoherence in the middle of the jam and decided to shrug it off. If I made the player start at the top of the tower, would it be better? hahahaha

Tower of Madness by Eduardo Yukio 2020-10-08T09:54:28Z

@nethead Thank you very much! Yeah, I pretty much spent the majority of the jam implementing mechanics and doing level design haha, there was no time for audio or polishing... Next time I will do something like you did and balance things out.

@szabe I understand, I actually intend to do less difficult games next time, more like *Super Meat Boy* and less like *I Wanna be the Guy*. I think these types of games are too frustrating for the majority of people and I want everyone to have fun!

@thewinrawr You are right, when I was making the spikes I saw that *Celeste* have more thinner spikes but I chose to go with the *I Wanna be the Guy* spikes and they are, indeed, much more cruel hahaha. I think on my next games I will stick with the *Celeste* ones. Thank you for the kind words!

@dmitry-mozgin Hello!! I agree with you on the art aspect, those visuals don't help to sell the game. I really intend to work on my art skills for the next one. Thank you very much for the compliments on the gameplay and level design, I worked veeery hard on both of them and it makes me very happy to see that it worked! About the gamepad, actually I have forgotten entirely about it!! I implemented the support to it, but forgot to test, so, I'm glad that you did hahaha. Now that I've played the game with a controller, I noticed that a huge coincidence happened: in the dialog that teaches how to dash, I wrote "Press X to dash" and X functions both for the keyboard and for the X Box controller lol

Tower of Madness by Eduardo Yukio 2020-10-08T19:22:18Z

@jordan-kelly This is a great compliment for me, thank you very much!!

@toulou Ohh, I didn't know *This is the only level*, but it's very similar to *That level again*, which was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the theme hehe. Actually, to close the dialog window, you can click on the *Continue* button, press *Jump* (Z, Up), or press *Dash*(X). I think I should have made it more clear, putting it explicitly on the text like "Press any button to continue". Thanks for the feedback!!

Tower of Madness by Eduardo Yukio 2020-10-10T02:34:23Z

@fabula-rasa Your criticisms regarding the graphics and lack of audio are completely reasonable: I used to make games with a team in which I only programmed and, now that I'm doing Compo, I'm still learning the basics of these things

I'm very happy that you liked the controls and the level design! I worked very hard on them!

Ohh this level is very hard indeed. About the story, **SPOILERS**: The boy eventually finds an opening to break the descending loop and gets out of the tower! Then, he continues to walk to the right and eventually gets bored of his repetitive routine; until he finds a small tower! Hehehehe.

Thank you very much for your valuable feedback!

Tower of Madness by Eduardo Yukio 2020-10-11T06:21:15Z

@thesedatedprince I was curious if someone who played IWBTG would like my game, so your feedback means a lot to me! Yeah, the level with the red boxes is the only one that I'm not satisfied with, I definitely should've made what you suggested. Thank you very much!!

@ubershmekel Yes, those were all programmer art hahaha, I intend to learn proper art and music creation someday. I'm very glad that you had fun! Thank you!!

Suicidal Boyfriend by Federico Giorgi 2020-10-06T11:20:56Z

The mood, audio, graphics and theme were all executed wonderfully well, but the gameplay was kind of lacking: I clicked on the bible and it showed me the scene where he is in the bathroom with the toaster, and many other times I cliked on different things and he appeared on the cross, I got very confused.

I was extremely impressed by the voice acting, it was so well made!

And I loved the reference to the Inception totem haha.

Nice job overall!

Sad Dads: Loop of Lawn Maintenance by Shay Cichocki 2020-10-05T03:50:56Z

The humor is very nice! And the game fits the theme very well too lol. But the gameplay lacked variety, if I had like one or two more things to do it would be nice.

Curse of King Uroboros by Echo GameWorks 2020-10-08T08:16:59Z

Yaay, I managed to beat it!

The music is pretty cool and works very well to set the mood and the sound effects are nice to give feedback that I'm being hit.

The concept of your clones functioning as your worst enemy or your best friend, depending on the context, is very interesting! And it works really well in the game. I'm sad that you didn't have time to do the other two bosses, I wanted to see them!

The bullets are well implemented, but the jump is a bit "floaty". I think if the character fell faster it would feel better because I would be able to control it faster too.

Overall, it's a nice boss fighting game!

Need More Space by wheatleyscience 2020-10-10T00:19:59Z

Very nice entry!

The graphics are awesome, it's very impressive what you guys achieved in so little time, the animations are so cute! The audio sets the mood very well too. Nice UI indications of temperature, it reminded me of *Don't Starve*. The arrow indicating the direction of the ship was a very good addition, maybe if it helped to locate the ice cubes it would be even better! Because I was suffering to find them haha, died a lot from dehydration =(

I had some issues though: The screen kept shaking while I walked, maybe because of the irregular surface? The hitbox to pickup items could be a bit larger, I lost many precious seconds trying to pick nearby items. There were some food that stayed very high up and I couldn't pick it up.

Besides the small issues, it was a very fun and beautiful experience! Great game!

Tuxedo, watch out for the rock! by Gumemura 2020-10-06T07:29:45Z

This is really impressive for a first game! I agree with some of the comments above, it would be nice to have a score meter and some sfx, but I understand that it's hard to add all of the things we want in a jam.

I, personally, would prefer if the player's movement were less "floaty", like without the acceleration, because it would give me a faster response to my inputs.

The fact that the coins load your special bar is a bit unintuitive, maybe if it had a fuel icon or something like that, it would be more clear.

But, overall, it's a nice game! You did the most important thing when starting with jams: small scope. It's a very hard thing to do, so, congratulations!

S P A C E D O U T by LanaLux 2020-10-07T07:22:09Z

Extremely well made graphics, the best I've ever seen on an LD game!!

The audio is very nice too!

But the gameplay was kind of clunky. I didn't know exactly why the game wasn't letting me do the things. I clicked and nothing happened. It would be nice to have some kind of feedback, like "you don't have enough health" or something like that. This made me click on everything and I happened to lose a lot of money, turning into an eternal debt haha. I don't know if this was intended or not but I couldn't progress any further.

Besides that, it is a very good looking game with an awesome mood, nice job!

Delivery Boy Forever by civmaniac 2020-10-09T21:11:50Z

The story is very compelling! I liked the *bzzt* sound and all of the slow discovery of the plot twist. But I think the end is a little abrupt, I wanted to know if he succeeds or not.

The mechanic of unlocking words is very fun and the audio sets the mood nicely.

Great game!

Lava Labyrinth by PeelyGames1019 2020-10-05T04:05:26Z

Very fun game! I had to really stop and think through some puzzles, good job on the level design! The polishing aspects like screen shake, sound effects, particles are all nice, but the background moving constantly is a bit nauseating haha. I have some issues with the game aspect on the browser, I think my monitor is too small. I had to scroll to reach the full screen button and then decrease the zoom to 80% to be able to play. But very nice overall!

A tale of Loopism by Pomo 2020-10-10T03:23:38Z

I saw your game on the Simpathey stream! I love difficult games, so I thought of trying yours and oh my, I thought I had made a difficult game lol.

But I guess on my case it was a bit harder, because my GPU is very weak and the game lagged a bunch. The resolution was very weird too, I couldn't see the whole subtitles neither the main menu options, look: a.png

(My resolution is 1366x768 btw).

But from what I saw on the streams, you implemented many cool levels and mechanics! And very funny dialogs too haha, it reminded me a lot of Portal.

Nice entry!

Omega Virus by Cryptomnesic 2020-10-07T04:33:00Z

Yaay, I managed to beat the virus! I played as a single player, but I bet this would be very fun with other people. It has a nice pace and a fun gameplay loop. But I think if the instructions were taught to the player step by step on a tutorial level, without much danger, it would be a more smooth experience, because I was very lost for a couple of minutes trying to understand what was happening. Besides that, the technical features are impressive, like the network and random map creation. Nice entry!

Pogo Knight by TheWinrawr 2020-10-08T10:34:04Z

I loved your game!!! It's so addicting!!

I played Hollow Knight a lot, so I already knew what this mechanic was all about, but in your game I think it's a little more difficult: you have to hit closer to the spikes to be able to pogo on it. So I took a little while to get used to it. But when I finally mastered it, it was a very nice feeling! I felt like a ninja slashing through the bullets.

The difficulty progression was on-point. Removing the spikes as the game goes by is a very clever idea, as well as keeping the ghosts on the ceiling, making us pogo on the bullets, nice game design.

I think my only criticism will be the powerups. In the end, I get used to a certain rythm of pogoing and moving, so changing the gravity and the movespeed kind of broke that rythm and worked more like a debuff, so I ended up slashing through all of them xD.

The music is AWESOME!! It gets you pumped up to keep slashing, it's very good.

The art is beautiful, those pixel art shadows and lights are very well done.

Your game is inspiring. This is the type of game that I want to make: small scope on the mechanics and scenario, a very fun gameplay loop and lots of polishing with art and music.

Amazing game!!

Groovy Loops by Simpathey 2020-10-07T06:32:29Z

Yaay, I managed to beat it!

I loved the concept of placing the platforms, and it fits the theme as well, nice!

The connection with music is very clever too and extremely well executed, good job!

The start screen was extremely zoomed in, my resolution is 1366x768 and apparently its too small because I could barely click on the Play button.

The movements are feeling a bit "floaty". There's a video on youtube called something like "better jumping in unity" in which the person analyzes the mario jump and notes that when the character is falling, the velocity is higher than when he is going upwards. He explains how to implement it, I tried and found that it really improves the game feel.

The hitboxes could be improved too, standing at the edge of the platform was very strange haha.

It would be good to have an indicator of how many boxes you still have, because, on the last level, I spammed the boxes and had to undo all of them later =(

Overall, it's a very enjoyable game! Very impressive for a first time jam!

Overcoming by Archock34 2020-10-09T00:43:14Z

I finished it, but didn't quite understand what happened hahaha. The difficulty curve is a little unbalanced: on the Danger room, I had to run really fast to be able to survive, whereas on the rest of the game I didn't have any threat, I just walked. The mood is nice though.

Loopfield by MikoziQ 2020-10-08T02:55:44Z

I really liked this game! You took a very simple concept and made it fun, making us have to decide quickly if we want to block a projectile or not. Very good! The graphics and audio work well, too, I think for a first jam you did great!

It would be the icing on the cake if it had a ranking system. Without the ranking, there is not much motivation to keep playing and break the record. But as a simple and short experience, it's great!

Cycle Breakdown by TheJohnyFeeD 2020-10-07T21:25:25Z

Wow, this game is a complete experience! Very good graphics, extremely well polished everything: screen shakes, lighting, animation, enemies exploding when they die, trail after the dash, pausing frames in the sword attack, really a great job. I always have difficulty implementing polishing, so your game is an inspiration for me!

The music and sound effects complement the game's rhythm very well.

The level design matching the theme was also very smart. I think this is the first time that I have seen a game creating the restriction of not being able to walk and shoot at the same time, very cool!

Perhaps my only criticism is in the AI of the enemies, they are a little too easy: if I simply run around the room, near the walls, it is very difficult to be hit.

But overall, one of the best entries that I've played!

proceed by anchorlight 2020-10-08T07:38:14Z

I liked the dark atmosphere. The audio and the graphics really made it work! But I found the controls a little "hard" and slow, the ball took a long time to accelerate and the jump feels very weak.

From what I understood, death is a fundamental mechanic on your game, but the death animations took a long time: it was several seconds waiting on the loading screen each time I died. And I died several times, because I fell into holes that I wasn't even seeing. I think the idea of using death as a mechanic is interesting and matches the theme, but it is only reasonable to be implemented if the respawn is fast, otherwise it becomes frustrating for the player.

Despite this, I think this game has a lot of potential, especially in the mood category, good job on that!

30 Seconds to Die by Kharath 2020-10-09T01:40:43Z

It's a very fun game!! The homing missiles at the end were a nice feature of difficulty progression, they were really challenging and fun to avoid. I think the controls are a bit weird, I would prefer if the spaceship turned around immediately after I pressed a button. For some weird reason I couldn't shoot while holding the up and left arrow at the same time, but this issue doesn't happen when I'm holding up and right lol. The clone mechanic works and it's satisfying, nice job!

The ending screen should wait a couple of seconds before disappearing, because I was hitting space like a maniac and didn't see it xD.

Great game!

Endless Void by FireGamer3 2020-10-08T07:10:20Z

For a first jam, you did a great job! The music works, the art is cute too, but I think one part that could be improved is the gameplay: it is very repetitive. Maybe if it had a progression system in which more and faster objects appeared over time, it would be more challenging and fun.

But overall, great game!

Stuck in a Timeloop by Stefan B. 2020-10-12T08:59:45Z

This is a nice puzze platformer!

The player movement could be improved in some aspects though: it's too "floaty", the player takes too long to fall down, and when I push myself against a platform and jump, for some reason I jump very higher than normally. I managed to pass through level 2 without using a single ghost, just using that mechanic (as you can see on the image). a.png

The idea of using my clones as platforms is very interesting! And you guys managed to execute it very well. The level design is fun, I had to actually stop and think a little to elaborate a plan and when I executed and it worked, it was very satisfying.

On level 4 one of my ghosts pushed me against the ceiling and I got stuck there =P.

The audio cues are simple but effective: they let me know when a ghost pushed a button somewhere else.

Overall, it was a very fun experience!

The infinite maze by BaptistePerez 2020-10-07T07:56:38Z

This game is both one of the best in graphics and one of the worst in fun that I've played in this LD haha.

There were several screens that were exactly the same, and to find the right path, it just needed trial and error. This is not fun.

But the graphics are inspiring, I would like to be able to do something at that level someday, very good.

Spinning Around by Dmitry Mozgin 2020-10-08T07:23:01Z

For a first jam, this is impressive!

The graphics are excellent. I really liked the effect when I'm accelerating, it's a really nice detail.

But I had a lot of problems with the camera: I couldn't quite understand where some obstacles and diamonds were and to what direction should I go. I took many diamonds only through trial and error. Later on in the game it starts to get frustrating, because I died and I didn't even understand why. Maybe if it was more zoomed out or perhaps centered on the player, it could be less confusing.

But overall, it's a solid and fun game, great entry!

Loop Deleter by Zachary Barbanell 2020-10-09T06:02:23Z

Hey 00gogo00! I saw your game on the Sympathey stream and I noticed that you played my game too, so, thanks! Your game is awesome!! I spent like half an hour on the level 8 hahaha, I was so frustrated, but when I finally got it, it was very fulfilling! I got stuck on lvl 10 though =(. It is impressive that you managed to do such elaborated puzzles in so little time! The difficulty curve is a bit harsh though.

Besides that, it's a really fun game!

SORO BORO by nethead 2020-10-07T02:10:45Z

I definitely wasn't expecting the drum and bass haha, it's one of my favorite music genres, and it's SO GOOD! It gave a nice mood to the game. I never created music in my life, but now I feel inspired to learn and make something like you did, its so good, I left the game tab open to write this comment while listening to it hahaha.

The pixel art is awesome too, everything is beautiful and well polished: it has screen shakes, particles, animations, nice.

I think it would be nice to have the instructions inside the game. I had to exit fullscreen twice to read the commands and what I was supposed to do.

It is a bit harsh too, when I died after going through three rooms it was very frustrating to spawn at the beginning.

But overall, I think this was a great experience! I'm feeling very inspired by it. I will for sure revisit it in the future to use as a reference!

Social Loop by Animo 2020-10-06T11:44:21Z

For your first jam, you did a great job! In my opinion, one of the hardest things to do in jams is aim for a small scope and you managed to do it very well! I think what could be improved are the instructions: it would be nice if you introduced the controls inside each mini-game and let the player understand what they have to do. In the Youtube mini-game, for example, I lost almost immediately after I clicked to play. I had to guess how to play it.

But overall, it's a nice simple game!

Obs: The WebGL version gets stuck at 90% loading. I had this problem too, and what worked for me was setting the Compression to None (or disabled I can't remember exactly) on the Player Settings button inside the build window.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

The Limbo Runner by jk5000 2021-04-30T04:20:21Z

The graphics are well done, and the game in general is funny, especially because of the voice acting haha

The core mechanic is fun, but the lack of an indication of how long I needed to go with the balance meter left me a bit frustrated.

Other than that, it's a nice entry!

Diggy hole by someone 2021-04-30T20:12:08Z

The graphics are cool and the audio complements the gameplay very well, but I found the digging speed a little slow. It took me a while to find gold and, when I found i,t I didn't understand how to collect it. Then I clicked by mistake on some distant place, panicked and pushed esc twice and it closed the game haha. It has definitely some potential though!

Nuclear blaze by deepnight 2021-04-30T01:02:04Z

One of the most polished games I’ve ever played in all of the ludum dares! The particles with trails and the smoke effects are so beautiful, congratulations!! The tutorial is very good and the graphics in general are also very beautiful. I found it very impressive that you managed to do all these things plus the dialogue system, the narrative, the items and doors, all in 48 hours!

But the lack of sound and especially the extremely punitive system of distant checkpoints makes the game very frustrating. I was not able to pass the key stage, even trying several times. A post-jam version with closer checkpoints and audio has great potential to be a game released on steam or something. Well done!

Chess Hellevator by BoxedMeatRevolution 2021-04-30T16:21:21Z

Very fun game!!

At first it wasn't very clear how I got the bonus moves. But when I got it, it went nicely. The character showing up between rounds added an interesting narrative touch to the game, aswell as the ending. The audio accompanied the strategic mood of the game very well! Great voice acting too. Very fun idea of joining chess moves with randomization.

Awesome entry!

Descentris by PhilStrahl 2021-04-26T05:12:43Z

Very interesting this reutilization of the classic tetris concept! I found it very fun to have to create a path with the pieces. As always, very high polishing quality: graphics, music, sound effects, interfaces: everything impeccable. Nice job!!

hiscore.png

RAMnesia by 100th_Coin 2021-04-30T20:47:53Z

Very unique and interesting concept of erasing the actual memory! Nice level design using the reversal to the original variable value. But on the level that needed 10 coins, I resetted the Y value and I fell into an abyss. I could walk in the X direction, so I managed to pass many levels while standing on the -500 Y hahaha. But eventually I reached the end and it got very bizarre. Anyways, it was definitely a unique experience!

Deepest Sword by Strega 2021-04-30T02:32:55Z

I definitely played a lot more than I expected hahaha.

The graphics are very beautiful and the game is well polished: particles, animations, sound effects, everything excellent!!

Although it is a long game, the music loop is not tiring, I will definitely use it as a reference for the games I’m going to make in the future.

The core mechanic is very creative, it reminded me a lot of "Getting over it" but with a touch of originality due to the small pixel art ambient. Having this idea in a jam and actually making it work in such a small time is an incredible accomplishment, best jam game that i've played in a long time, congratulations!!

Fade by Jeremy Ryan 2021-04-30T18:15:24Z

The game lagged very much on my pc =(. Don't know if it is too weak (i3-6100U 2.3ghz, intel hd 520) or its due to optimitization problems.

I liked very much the first levels, I love rythm games and you did and excellent job of creating a good one! But the difficulty sparked immensely fast: almost immediately after you introduced two and three notes at the same time, you requested playing different notes with two hands. I'm guessing that you know how to play piano yourself and thought that it would not be too hard, but I've never played, so, for me, it was a huge jump.

The graphics are beautiful and the narrative is interesting, but the level design prevented me from enjoying the game completely.

Other than that, it was a great entry!

Holey Moley by flyingbear 2021-04-30T19:19:20Z

Suddenly I couldn't use the rope anymore and I got stuck, not understanding what happened. Other than that, the game is really cool, it has a fun loop to pick up loot and come back to sell, which reminded me a lot of MMORPGs. The music is cool and the art is simple but efficient. Nice game!

Tunnel of Love: I'm Digging It by chelC 2021-04-30T15:47:45Z

This game is absurdly funny hahahaha

The theme is very unique and the graphics are awesome

Great job!

Caribbean Invaders by Firesplash Entertainment 2021-04-30T13:45:27Z

The game has nice graphics and audio, but I had many difficulties with the "tank" controls. Sometimes the boat moved forward by its own, noy only when I pressed W, which made me lose and confused me a lot.

Other than that, its very fun and the AI is very challenging. Good job!

Fallen Angel by Eduardo Yukio 2021-04-29T17:29:59Z

@nethead @substr @jk5000 @fdk @boxedmeatrevolution @borabee Thank you very much for the feedback! It was my first time creating music and pixel art so it means a lot to me that you guys liked it <3

@susumu-asaga Você tem toda razão! Isso era um bug, eles deveriam ter apenas 1 de vida. Já arrumei, muito obrigado por apontar esse erro e por ter jogado meu joguinho xD

@dmitry-mozgin Wow, I'm really glad that you remember my other jam games!! You're right, I should've made it more clear that you couldn't stomp on ther red angels. I tried to draw some horns on them but they ended up being too small, so I turned them red haha, but it wasn't ideal for sure. Thank you very much for all the feedback!

Fallen Angel by Eduardo Yukio 2021-05-01T02:59:33Z

@fabula-rasa It is possible to pass those rows of spikes without taking damage but I admit that you needed to master the controls almost perfectly for this, it is indeed too hard :p. Thank you very much for the extensive feedback!!

@gustavo-rocha Thank you, glad that you liked it :)

@lorwon Yeah, I tried hard to balance that hovering mechanic. Thanks for your kind words <3

@oune I'm happy that you pushed through the tough controls at the beginning!

@someone Thanks! I'm glad that you played until the end!

@barelyevengames I watched your stream and it was awesome to actually see someone playing my game, thank you very much for that! I'm very happy that you liked the downwell-inspired mechanics xP

@chacawott Thank you! I'm very glad that you enjoyed it

@j-kyle Thanks for the feedback, I'm happy that you had fun!!

@binaryprinciple I actually tried that route, but the player would be able to fly upwards instead of only hovering and it went against my design plan. I'm glad that you had fun with my little game xD

@pijamar I remember playing old Windows games when I was little, so your comment means a lot to me, thank you very much!! Sadly I was only able to make those two levels, but the plan was to create Heaven, Purgatory and Hell, with a boss fight against Satan at the end haha

Last Flower by Ekaterina 2021-04-28T23:39:52Z

Wow, that was a very ~deep~ game. In such a small amount of time you managed to build an interesting narrative and world. The graphics are absolutely gorgeous and the sounds complement the mood very well.

I just felt that the gameplay elements were a bit too simple: there was not much challenge or variety to them. It was always the same actions.

Anyway, it was a nice and surprising experience!

Bubbly by Kaish 2021-04-30T21:27:46Z

Awesome graphics! Cute and very well made. The audio accompanies the game very well too.

I liked the mechanic of throwing the ball and having to catch it again, I just think that it faded too fast when I got deep into the game. It became kind of useless past 250 points.

The character's speed is too high, too frenetic, very hard to control precisley. The fact that it doesnt stop immediately when I released the walk button felt frustrating.

The ranking is one of the coolest features in getting the player engaged in the game, especially in a jam game where people usually play just a little to be able to give many ratings. I spent much more time playing than intended haha, but eventually I got top 1!! Very nice entry!

Quick Scrap by Vimlark 2021-05-01T00:02:45Z

One of the best games that i've played in this jam!! Extremely well polished, lots of particles and animations. The art is beautiful, it really inspired me!

Controlling the player is very satisfying: the upwards and downwards dash are really well implemented!

The music is awesome, the sfx are nice, the level design is interesting... I liked everything from that game!!

It would be nice to have a ranking system though, because I collected all the scraps and it felt like I did very fast. It made me want to know if it was indeed good, compared to others.

Great job!!

6 Feet Under by theStoff 2021-05-01T02:36:08Z

This is the game that I've spent more time playing this jam!

The theme is very unique and the core mechanic is very innovative. I could bet money that you guys are going to win at least a trophy in innovation. The art is amazing, very well polished! All these animations, oh so juicy!!! The music awesome, the level design is extremely fun and interesting.

I loved everything about this game, absolute 5/5.

I played the v1.0, can't even imagine how good it is the post-jam version. This game is already steam ready. When you launch it, give me a key please xD feet.png

The Deepest Dungeon by Susumu Asaga 2021-04-30T20:26:12Z

Very cute graphics! The music and sfx are awesome too. The game is very reminiscent of those old game boy games, you nailed that nostalgic vibe. But the gameplay is very repetitive: maybe if there were more challenges, like life, defend or if the monsters blinked and you had to press the right mouse button to do a critical attack or something, it would increase the variability and make the gameplay more interesting. Overall it was a great experience, nice job!

Shire Story (Underground Edition) by Gustavo Rocha 2021-04-30T21:41:19Z

This game seems so fun! Unfortunately I can't play it: my screen resolution is too small (1366x768), so I can't see the whole screen and I think it is affecting my clicks because nothing happens when I click on the door =(

Catlantis by fabula_rasa 2021-04-29T19:12:59Z

Very beautiful and chill game! It fit the theme well and the level design was interesting. The only thing that bothered me was the speed of the companion because after I rescued her, I rapidly dashed out and she got stuck in the middle of the rocks, so I had to go back to rescue her again haha.

But in general it was an excellent game, congratulations!

Untitled Simulator by Eugenik 2021-04-30T22:22:44Z

Maybe because of my old pc, the web version lagged a lot. The words came out soooo slowly that it was impossible to play. It would be nice to have a button to skip the animations and drop the entire sentence at once. I then downloaded the windows version and it went more smoothly.

I was definitely not expecting such a serious themed game. Very interesting, you must have had a very deep research work.

The dancing hitler at the end was even more unexpected hahahaha, nice entry!

Blackout by Frasse 2021-05-01T01:15:40Z

This one is my favorite! Best narrative I've seen in a jam game; several plot twists, many interesting rooms, dozens of item descriptions... you guys really did a lot of work!

Awesome art, awesome music, the humor is great.

The only issue that I had was with using items: I spent like 3 minutes to be able to put that stool in the right spot...

Other than that, its a 5/5 in every category for me (except theme lol), just an outstanding work!!

Solar Subs by Simpathey 2021-04-30T20:38:30Z

Simple gameplay, but very fun! I exploited a bug where I clicked desperately on a fish and it activated the next one, so I got a dirty score of 88 :P. The graphics and the audio are very good! But maybe if it didn't have this bug and if it had a ranking at the end, the game could be more interesting to play.

Reach That Point by Dmitry Mozgin 2021-04-28T23:19:59Z

This was a great experience! I'm used to play action games so a chill one is a nice change of pace and your game is very chill. The slow music helped to set the chill mood very well too, well done!

I know how hard it is to make rope physics and I think you've done a great job! It worked nicely.

I don't think that it had a low quantity of levels, it was a reasonable gameplay time for a jam game.

Your game inspired me to make more "abstract" games like with only shapes and such. I always waste a lot of time elaborating a solid theme and narrative and it always ends up being overscoped.

Anyways, awesome game! I'm really hoping that you achieve a good rank!

Ziggurat by nethead 2021-04-26T02:29:26Z

Hi @nethead! I just published my compo entry and it was my first time creating music! I wanted to thank you for inspiring me with your previous game, which had a badass drum and bass song. I never thought that I would be capable of making music, and you somehow gave me a little push lol.

About your current game, I loved the mood! It reminded me a lot of Fez. I had some problems with the controls, especially the wall jump. Maybe because I'm used to Super Meat Boy, I first press the directional button and then jump, and in your game it doesn't work haha. The instant deaths from falling into holes left me very frustrated too, I fell 2 times after taking all the diamonds xP.

The sound and the pixel art are extremely well-made, well done!!

Asterisk by Crychair 2021-05-01T00:22:37Z

Perhaps the best voice acting I've ever seen in a ludum dare! The voice is extremely pleasant and it looks like its from a professional game.

The art is beautiful, everything is very well polished, full of particles and animations.

The gameplay loop is cool: use sonar, escape the mines, get the treasures. But I felt that there was a lack of purpose for all of this. If it had a ranking or a store where you could buy upgrades and the challenge would increase, maybe the game would be more interesting.

But overall, it was an amazing entry!!

Deeper by hgushi 2021-04-27T09:07:43Z

Awesome pixel art! Cool wordplay with the characters D-P-R spelling "Deeper" hahaha, it took me a while to realize. Nice job!

Botanica by FDK 2021-04-30T13:34:21Z

I loved the death animation haha

The music is decent, i just think that the loop is too short. It becomes a bit repetitive too quickly.

I didn't like the difficulty curve: on the last level many enemies come from out of the screen, so there is no time to react. If the machete were like a thing that I could reflect damage coming from anywhere it would be more useful in my opinion.

But for a first game, it's very good! Nice job!

More Deeper More Strange by Greb 2021-04-30T20:58:47Z

At the beginning I didn't see the mailbox so I went on the street and couldn't explore because of invisible walls. It was very frustrating.

The footsteps sounds are very repetitive, you could try to vary its pitch each time it plays to add some variety.

You got the mood and the ambient right though! The monster relentlessly following me certainly gave me the creeps haha. Sadly I experienced a lot of clipping: the skeleton's model went inside the fallen staircase, killing me and making me fall through the ground =(

More Bass! by Substr 2021-04-30T19:32:38Z

The mechanics are simple but very fun! As your first jam game, you nailed the scope. I always overscope and end up trying to make big games and it definitelly doesn't work. I really liked the theme haha, congratulations!
