Fantastic game, well done. The graphics and audio were on point, and the gameplay itself was fun. The only thing I would suggest for this would be the ability to take more upgrades. You should let the player push things to the very limit with their health. But very nice work, keep it up. :D
Simple and clean. I like it. The sound design is great. The BGM adds a lot to the feel of the game. I also like the upgrade system. It's a lot similar to my won game. Overall your is much more focused and polished compared to mine.
I now checked out your game too!!! Its much better than mine and fits the theme very well. The audio was nice, i think and it is visually apealing. Really liked your shop mechanic, that makes the game really fun and so fitting to the theme!! really enjoyed it for a long time!
Glad to see more and more people using Godot! Art and music was good and so was the gameplay.
Died in wave 5. This is interesting concept with a key idea that 'consumed' resource and return to HP, which give a possiblity to recover HP with the pay of ability. The art work is simple but very comfortable and fit overall style. The only downside for me is the and damage range of the red bull, which confused me a little. Nice work.
Had fun playing this! Really cool pixel art - great work! Great mechanics for a game done in such short time
Should have played this with a mouse, it was really challenging playing the game on my touchpad :D Nice concept and graphics, guys – not overcomplicated and simple enough, I enjoyed playing it.
very good!
Nicely put together. I like the variety in the enemies, and the satisfying splat that results from you hitting them. Overall a very enjoyable game. If I could add anything, perhaps a few defensive upgrades? Something to help against a mob of those skeleton projectiles. Good job though, I enjoyed it
Just dropping by to let you know that the WebGL version breaks on collisions for me. I'll try to download it later.
Nice pixel graphics; try adding in some shadows (pretty easy to do) to add a bit more depth or shading to the game. I enjoyed the wide variety of enemies that are there. The red bull is a little to strong, and is hard to get used to.
Fun game, played through a few times. I like the random levels and the set up of the levels on their own. The audio for me was kind of lacking, it didn't really seem to match the concept you guys were going for. The death sound effect also kind of took me out of it. The fighting felt really good but it seemed like the hit box was a little off? Regardless it was a fun little game and fit the theme really well!
It's a very well executed, with nice graphisms.
I think everybody's HTML5 export with Godot has been experimental, I've played one game so far where it wasn't broken, haha.
Nice concept and implementation! Style also great~ I just felt a bit clucky and weird while doing a meele attack, and I wish there was a way to recover health... But hey, that's me! Great job anyway!
Things I didn't like: - Sometimes I lost a lot of life on the first or second wave, it would be nice to have a retry button to instantly go to the beginning insted of waiting to die. - I've noticed a bug: sometimes my hit counted many times, I killed a bull in one attack (it did the attack sound many times) - I think it would be nice to have an invulnerability time after taking damage, because when I made contact with a monster I got hit several times, this seems unfair. - The whole idea of trading your life to pick skills is only used once. The moment I realized I liked speed and didn't like ranged attacks, I simply made a "build" spending everything I could on speed and removing the ranged. Then I would never change it. The fact that I never regenerate my life made me not want to spend it on other things.
Things I liked: - It's nice that you let people choose which playstyle they want: focus on speed, ranged attack, dash etc. - Nice graphics, very simple but functional. - Melee attack is juicy - The music is good! The sound effects too, mainly the "pop" when monsters died, very satisfying. - I liked that before the wave begins, there is a little delay to let you think about a strategy - Very challenging! I hit wave 5 several times, when I finally was beating wave 6 I felt thrilled. Hitting wave 7 was rewarding.
Overall, a very challenging and mechanic oriented game, with rewarding sounds and difficulty, good game!
Simple idea, but very well executed! The use of theme makes for a nice customizable challenge; I ended up over leveling myself and not having enough health, which is exactly like it should be! Great job!
I feel like the use of the theme could've been more creative, although it did make for an enjoyable experience. I'm not sure if this has been brought up by anyone else, but at one point I got stuck on one of the enemies-- I couldn't move and died. Overall, though, not bad!
Web version doesn't work. Freezes as soon as I hit an enemy.
As @heyycap says, the web vestion is buggy... I can't play... Sorry!
Very nice entry, I just wish there was another way to restore at least some health between the levels, other than selling the upgrades. It could prolong the suffering of the gladiator on the arena.
This is very well put together and surprisingly fun to play. The Throwback to old school visuals is awesome- I especially love the bull design.
Very nice game. What I really liked in comparison with other games with similar theme idea is that you could actually reduce your upgrades to recover health again. Nice mechanic.
Music is fitting as well.
Keep up the good work.
The game was really fun! Great job. I don't know if there was a boss, because I died always on the 4th level/round. Overall, awesome game
@spirits There's a lower tier of levels at the beginning and a higher tier with a blue background later. They cycle randomly for infinite survival.
really nice work here -- like the concept and use of theme -- went from zero to hard in no time -- thanks for making it
nice one but we need to win life to play a long time ;)
Wow, what a great game! Had so much fun playing it. The graphics and sounds are just awesome. Perfect use of the theme. Good balancing
Really fun game and well polished.
It's an interesting game with a nice polish. I like the small things like the screen wiping out as it transitioned and the simple mechanics.
It'd be nice if there was some way to get back some hit points though. Also, the second level and fourth level kinda repeated themselves (bull fights) and that one kinda takes to long to finish.
A polished effort though!
wow ! very noice !
great retro game! the different AI are quite interesting, and give the gameplay the good twist
Had fun playing the game. There is no reason not to take all the upgrades, since having more health will not help you if you are struggling against the enemies. Just found it a shame that it seemed to simply repeat levels after a while instead of just getting to an end. What I didn't like was that it was hard to tell, when exactly enemies would attack, making it hard to predict and avoid enemy attacks.
cool game, a bit slow at the begining but I guess it's intended. nice entry
@eduardo-yukio Thanks for the very detailed evaluation!
I agree about the skill builds - I definitely would have loved for strategic circumstantial rearrangement of the stats but it would have required some sort of advance knowledge of the level layout. I would need to show a preview of the level so the player could strategize around it. Even harder, it would require that the game and enemies and levels be re-balanced such that certain builds would be substantially better than others in some cases but not others - and that's crazy hard to do.
Very fun! The graphics and sound worked very well together.
This is a very well made game! I am not sure how many waves there are suppose to be but I enjoyed spending most of my life on upgrades trying to see how far I can make it. The art is solid as well as the music and sound effects. I did not encounter any bugs or glitches.
