LD44 — Your life is currency

RogueLife by Gipzo 2019-05-01T09:14:30Z

Oh my, the game was fun to play! The only thing is, I haven't figured out how to activate shield (playing on my Mac and somehow, RMB just didn't work even though I purchased a shield). And at one point, I couldn't finish LVL 2 because suddenly, the game locked and behaved as if I was always pressing RIGHT, so I couldn't move anywhere :( But still, I had fun and enjoyed playing the game as it was challenging enough (and man, those exploding "barrels" were satisfying!), and exploring the map made me happy. The graphics, the music, level design, I liked it all. Good job! :)

Grim & Tonic by Calzep 2019-05-01T10:17:12Z

Sadly, I also skipped the text at the beginning as it was long, and it took me a while to figure out which matches to avoid. I LOVED the music and art, interesting take on match-3 games.

Mine Corp. by Hadik 2019-05-01T11:27:59Z

I went into a full berserk mode when playing this game, internally yelling "Go away! Go away! Go away!" – great idea! Very enjoyable game, getting super challenging the more you progress. Loved the art as well. Sadly, didn't get any sounds or music and as my colleague mentioned, after a while, my hand was getting tired after constantly tapping the light bolts (still, it was oddly satisfying bolting all those little astronauts :D), but otherwise, a solid entry and a very nice game. Thank you for creating it!

NECROCAT 9000 by tweedle 2019-05-01T14:14:27Z

Meow! It was really difficult for me to dash over the corpses and I missed most of them – sometimes I was "dancing" around one corpse, always missed it and then it disappeared :D Otherwise an interesting concept, loved the art and music, and the intro made me smile. Interesting game!

The Cult of the Morning Star by TheGamer1123211 2019-05-01T10:56:51Z

Really felt like Cultist Simulator. It felt too hard to gain back lost favor but I guess that was intentional – still, sometimes frustrating as I ended up having four or five mass mind bending cards on my hand that I couldn't use or get rid of. Sounds and music were cool! As a few other people said, it was harder to read the font. I also didn't quite get the suspicion as it was easy for me to lower it and I din't know where the top cap was and when it would harm me. Overall, an interesting concept and nice balancing. Could use some more balancing but it's a solid entry!

Your life is my money by squaredev 2019-05-01T16:15:52Z

I loved the graphics and the music was amazing but I didn't quite get what to do β€” I tried crossing the river many different times and always died. And I also died when the wooden shopkeeper started throwing wood at me :D But maybe it was just me ... 3D art was amazing, kudos to the artist(s).

Proton by Greg Lord 2019-05-01T10:03:36Z

Nice level design and onboarding! The camera controls felt a bit strange at first and I had to get used to them – otherwise, I enjoyed playing it and the last puzzle was fun to crack :) I agree with @nillard about wanting more levels, nice game!

Piggy bank by Papaver 2019-05-01T09:54:03Z

Aaaah I'm so bad at this game – but, to be honest, I really enjoyed being bad at it :D It took me a while to get used to the controls but once I did, I had fun. I would love to see how other players did in this game and how far they went but even having my own high score on the screen is a nice touch :) Thank you for this game!

Piggy bank by Papaver 2019-05-01T13:58:55Z

@papaver pheew, I'm afraid I can't remember ... a bit over 200 I think. not an amazing score but I tend to panic and just randomly jump when under pressure :D and I get what you're saying – we were also thinking about global leaderboards but haven't figured out a way yet :)

Lifeblood Arena by svntax 2019-05-01T10:12:00Z

Should have played this with a mouse, it was really challenging playing the game on my touchpad :D Nice concept and graphics, guys – not overcomplicated and simple enough, I enjoyed playing it.

Life is Money, Captain! by Luis J. Benitez 2019-05-01T10:42:38Z

It was sometimes frustrating how slow my ship was shooting but I got used to it after a while. At first, I also thought that I was supposed to defend the outpost where I started but then realised I had to fly forward to finish the mission :D As others said, very 90'-ish feel.

Fluffensnuff by Rongo Matane 2019-05-01T11:18:29Z

Challenging and clever, I liked it! Some puzzles really made my brain engines turn :D I got stuck on one of the later levels and couldn't figure it out but the progress was fun! I would love to play more of this game and I'll definitely return to it. I enjoyed it all, graphics, music, level design ... Good job!

Knock Knock... The travelling soulsman by Angry Squirrels 2019-05-01T11:55:51Z

Poor demon, never seemed to be able to push the door bell! :D Great into!! Nice idea and I really loved the dialogues and the way of how you showed how people felt about the demon – facial expression, doors closing and opening, ... Nice design! Agree with contract selection being a bit clumsy and somehow, I couldn't escape the fullscreen on my mac. Overall, I had a lot of fun playing this game. Great job guys, I'm happy!

Knock Knock... The travelling soulsman by Angry Squirrels 2019-05-01T13:55:42Z

@tbaudon I'm using Safari on a Mac. I always had to break something, either a plant or a window to get people out. but it was kind of funny this way and I thought it might be intentional :) I didn't mind it that much

Elevator Pitch by Hugimugi7 2019-05-01T16:04:52Z

Had a hard time damaging the boss and the elevator ride was looong but the idea was interesting and music GREAT!!

Real time by antoined73 2019-05-01T16:24:50Z

Nice shooter, very challenging though. I died A LOT in te first wave as sometimes, I was riding throught the space and enemies would just slam into me from behind and that started to annoy me after a while β€” but maybe I was just playing it wrong. I still enjoyed the game and stayed with it for a while. A solid entry with nice graphics and sounds!

Demon's Wages by Bibilega 2019-05-01T11:37:42Z

I love the art and the idea seemed interesting but I couldn't get any souls and didn't know much what to do ... I would also welcome some slower onboarding/tutorial rather than a lot of text during intro screen. It also took me a while to realise that the characters were returning back to my bar, with different characters looking the same – but once I did, the game became a bit more understandable. Thumbs up for the artist, the game really looks pretty :)

Piggy the Bank by Kusaihana 2019-05-01T09:23:14Z

Thank you guys for your comments, they are really appreciated! :)

@grewoss yeah, it would make sense for the hammer to catch up faster to you when you stop – it's one of those things we thought about having but didn't have enough time implementing. but I'm sure you know this from your own experience :) thank you for playing!

@dk5000p yup, it's an endless runner – you can run for as long as your pig is alive :) we were thinking about implementing leaderboards or highscores so players can see how others are doing, but that turned out to be trickier than we expected. we were still talking about it yesterday though so leaderboards might be coming at some point

@flavienrombouts thank you! (and also, thanks to you, I found out that there is also a piggy emoji! yaay :pig: )

Piggy Bank ! by FlavienRombouts 2019-04-30T09:14:06Z

I've been looking forward to trying out this game since I first saw it on LD post feed – the graphics looked SO GOOD! But I just tried playing this game in the browser (Safari) on itch. io and it was all black and white and with no sound :( I'll try it later today, this time from the G-drive download – hope to enjoy it more, as the mechanics were great and I the first few levels made me happy even without the sound or colors :) I had some tough time with the controls as I sometimes messed up the buttons and the directions they were assigned and had to restart the level. Otherwise, great level design guys!

Love, Death&Swords by Dmitry Kaidash 2019-05-01T16:39:07Z

Unfortunately, the game was buggy for me :( In the beginning, I wasn't able to finish off one of the enemies and that little guy was constantly following me around, not doing any damage but still running towards me. And out of a sudden, I wasn't able to attack a boss, no matter what attack I pressed. I agree that powers tied to keys would be amazing and audio feedback too. Music started to feel a bit repetitive after a while but I get that creating music during a jam is super duper hard :) The graphics looks great, the whole environment and characters were nice!

The 7 Cents Deal by Probe31 2019-05-01T15:49:02Z

Aaaand this was the moment when I realized that I'm bad in math when under stress :D Boy, I had a lot of fun! Great idea, great music, great art ... I liked the game a lot! Nice entry, the game felt complete and was really enjoyable. I downloaded it for the cute cats, stayed for a nice experience! Thank you :)

Money Golems Warriors by Buddaccio 2019-05-01T16:28:44Z

Did I break the game? I'm pressing PLAY and nothing's happening :( The idea and visuals look appealing, I would love to try it out!

Heartless Deal by Kakera 2019-05-01T15:05:34Z

It felt strange to me to have only one correct answer β€” I would expect the game and my choices to be more branched out and not to have one answer that will lead me through the game and others to end it, especially when it was more of a guess and gut feeling rather than actual puzzle. The writing could use a bit more polish, some sentences felt a bit like a clichΓ©. I liked the art style, the demon was beautifully drawn. The UI was a bit buggy when I went into the settings.
