I enjoyed your concept and gameplay. Runs smooth, nice work.

thesunshineraven 2019-05-01 09:54

Aaaah I'm so bad at this game – but, to be honest, I really enjoyed being bad at it :D It took me a while to get used to the controls but once I did, I had fun. I would love to see how other players did in this game and how far they went but even having my own high score on the screen is a nice touch :) Thank you for this game!

banzi 2019-05-01 09:56

Awesome! I love the mechanic. Especially the transitions between coins next to each other. I would maybe add some coins that are collectible without jumping on them and "consuming" them, as collecting coins partially prevents you from going up. Good job!

firellon 2019-05-01 10:11

Very creative one! Quite a unique take on the theme, liked the idea a lot Climbed up to 274 meters

sillyman987 2019-05-01 10:41

Nice!

papaver 2019-05-01 13:35

@Ryano @sillyman987 Thanks!

@firellon Well done! :)

@thesunshineraven How far did you get? After play-testing all weekend long, I forgot that it's probably quite challenging for new players. ;) A global highscore table would indeed be very nice, I still have to learn how to do that...

@banzi Thank you! Indeed, when you collect a coin, you lose some altitude. That's the price you pay, it's a trade-off. ;) If you're too greedy, you've got a problem! Did you notice the platforms on the side?

thesunshineraven 2019-05-01 13:58

@papaver pheew, I'm afraid I can't remember ... a bit over 200 I think. not an amazing score but I tend to panic and just randomly jump when under pressure :D and I get what you're saying – we were also thinking about global leaderboards but haven't figured out a way yet :)

pedro137br 2019-05-01 23:18

I liked the idea and the graphics were really good but the controls felt a bit weird

papaver 2019-05-02 05:52

@pedro137br Thanks! Can you specify what felt weird about the controls? (Did you notice that the direction of your jump depends on your position on a coin?)

pedro137br 2019-05-02 12:04

@papaver yes i notice but still my brain always tought that if i press the up arrow he will go up and not the direction he is facing on the coin

peachtreeoath 2019-05-05 04:55

wow, very clever game! I've played lots of similar games (at first glance) on flash and mobile, so I thought it'd be standard fare, but you added 2 things. 1) manual movement, which made the skill floor/ceiling a lot higher since you could make crazier jumps based on what you were going for, and 2) more importantly the consume gold option is GENIUS. It completely changes the decision-making in this genre and makes each jump pretty thoughtful as you're weighing your life bar vs positioning+where you're gonna fall. Overall, I loved the simplicity of the game yet you were able to create so much depth with some small tweaks. Excellent game design and excellent execution!

d5r 2019-05-14 22:32

Cool creative take on the genre by using the platforms you land on as health! Jumping from one coin to the other can be a bit fickle because of the way you orbit around coins but otherwise, really good!

edevjogos 2019-05-14 23:23

Great concept, fun gameplay, it took me quite a while to get used to the controls for some reason i kept pressing space to jump.

jsec 2019-05-17 14:27

There are some strange movemnt sometimes on jump but mechanic is relly funny. Good job!

Nice entry!

The platforming from falling coins was a really neat mechanic, and it felt really good when you got a rhythm going. It felt pretty varied with random positioning and coin size, and while your health lowers faster the longer you spend in game, it feels pretty fair.

Graphics are clean. Audio is simple but works fine. My biggest gripe is probably that the music doesn't loop.

rjhelms 2019-05-17 23:36

Really cool! Took me one play through to figure out what the heck was going on but then I had a lot of fun. Got a high score of 623m which maybe is good?

The jump mechanic was really unique and contributes really well to the feel of this. It gets really tricky when standing on really small coins as it's tough to precisely line up a jump when small movements make such a big different.

I really like this. Great job!

papaver 2019-05-18 21:46

@peachtreeoath Thank you for your nice and detailed comment! :pig:

@d5r Thank you! Just keep on walking till you are at the right angle on the coin to make the jump.

@edevjogos Thanks! I can imagine the confusion. Maybe down arrow would also be nice for picking up coins. Maybe I can add a 'select your controls' option in the Post-compo version.

@jsec Thanks for your comment! What kind of strange movements, could you elaborate?

@jeremy-ryan Wow, nice score! :raised_hands: Thanks for your comments. Looping the music - I thought it worked, I should look into it again... Aha, it seems to work the first time you play, but not after you retry. Hmmmm...

@rjhelms Thanks! That is a pretty neat score, well done!

jsec 2019-05-18 22:26

@papaver When You try to turn midjump sometimes it works as You would expect and sometimes pig moves different direction or changes direction in the air. Few time also got situation that mid jump by pressing only one direction pig moved in one, but on next key press in different (but same key was pressed)

papaver 2019-05-18 23:05

@jsec Thanks for your explanation! I didn't notice it myself before. If you're still holding the Left key while pressing Right, then indeed you don't change direction, because the netto result is that your horizontal velocity goes to zero (since you're going both left *and* right). This makes sense to me, but perhaps you prefer to go into the direction you pressed last? Something to think about for the post-compo version, thanks. :)

almost 2019-05-21 06:07

174m for my first try. Didn't see the number for second try, but it was a bit further. The tradeoff of platforms vs life is very interesting. Walking around the circles and jumping from circle to circle felt smooth. One thing I wondered is if different size or color circles provide different amounts of money.

Edit: score of 369 later

papaver 2019-05-21 10:36

@almost Thanks for playing and for your comments. You should be able to see your highscore at the start screen or whenever you are gameover. At the moment, the different coin sorts give a different amount of money/health, but the size of the coin doesn't matter (yet).
