LD35 — Shapeshift

The Ooze by Danman9914 2016-04-18T19:27:00

Definitely the best so far. Well done!

Copy-Paste by nicoplv 2016-04-18T12:15:00

Very nice concept and graphics.
I just wanted to report a bug: I was able to pass through the wall to the left of the exit without revealing it and actually exit the building while transformed into a binder.

Duality by HolyBlackCat 2016-04-20T15:25:00

This is brilliant! Not sure if it fits the theme perfectly but still it's a great game. Definitely the best I've tried so far.
I really hope you continue developing this with more levels and "traps". The level design is really amazing considering the time limit.

GattoMagico by tanis 2016-04-20T12:15:00

Nice, the only thing that bothered me was that the first selection after death was new game instead of continue.
It's definitely my fault but I misselected new game quite a lot of times, while i think the most commonly selected option would be continue and it should be on top.

Squares and Circles by jmintb 2016-04-18T15:23:00

Nice idea, but the shapes were a bit too small and quite hard to recognize.

Party Like Its 2078 by RedBricksStudio 2016-04-20T13:07:00

I really missed the music, especially since we are at a party.
Other than that perhaps a somewhat stealth system for when you kill people would have made sense

Shaze (Shape Maze) by Alphius 2016-04-18T11:49:00

well made puzzle, also quite hard

The 3 Rules of 2-Color Shapeshiftin' in a Microworld on a Flickering Torus by theOnlyGoodDrcz 2016-04-18T15:32:00

great job! I love the pencil graphics and the weird music

Shifty Ninja by ConorOD 2016-04-18T17:42:00

I had some serious performance issues and the game was super slow and the controls laggy. Apart from that it seems well made, except maybe for the fact that at least in the first level I've never had to shapeshift to kill everyone

Georena by sbeif 2016-04-18T14:25:00

Thanks!
@dsmeathers You are definitely right about starting slower. Though I think the rotation should be part of the skill needed. It would probably work better with gamepad support using dual analogs but to make sure everyone could try it I've decided to stick to keyboard.

Georena by sbeif 2016-04-18T14:51:00

Oh darnit! I just noticed that the web version only stores local highscores :(
I now suggest the windows version for better performance.
Well then, feel free to post your best score here!

Georena by sbeif 2016-04-18T21:14:00

Thanks everyone!!
I honestly didn't expect such positive comments.
I'm glad you liked it despite its flaws :)

Georena by sbeif 2016-04-20T18:16:00

@f222 I know, sorry, it's my first time making "music"
@kosik1337 Yeah I wouldn't exactly call that an AI, it just follows the player turning very slowly (in order to be beatable) and sometimes it gets stuck trying to turn against walls. It can surely be improved.

Battle of Creatures by JNI 2016-04-18T15:01:00

Beautiful graphics. I love how things break apart when they are hit!
I kinda didn't feel the need to shapeshift though.
Oh and great audio too, very epic.

LD36 — Ancient Technology

Mecha Jousting by LordalZero 2016-09-02T17:38:00

The base idea is nice but I think it needs to be more transparent, for example by showing some stats like attack, defense, hp and so on. This way one could choose the components more consciously. I'm saying that because I couldn't grasp what the crew stat meant (and because by using only one stat everyone would probably go for the combination that maximizes it).
It might also benefit from some interaction during combat, such as timed clicks to improve one's attack (just a personal opinion).
Anyway the models look nice and the music is great (although it might use some sfx for impacts).
Oh and I only got to the 5th round.

1991BCE by GhostBomb 2016-09-02T11:26:00

Nice job!
Very good level design, with the right amount of difficulty, enough to make it challenging but not frustrating. It made me want to reach the end despite my many deaths.
The only flaw that I can think of is that the theme is not really integrated into the mechanics.
Rad game though!

Rat-tato Power by Jelinib 2016-08-31T09:04:00

Well done, nice idea, graphics and music. I think this game would benefit from a common leaderboard as for now to me it lacks a bit of competition.

ab aeterno by sbeif 2016-09-03T09:16:00

@paruthidotexe Thanks, I've never tried that. When I have some time I'll take a look into it.

Gear Kitty by Raiyumi 2016-09-02T11:44:00

This is a great entry under every aspect. Nothing to add.

cognizance by managore 2016-08-29T19:49:00

I wanted to try out your game but it crashes at launch with this error:

cognizance by managore 2016-09-03T14:12:00

I was finally able to run it and, as always, you did an amazing job. The level design you manage to put in 48 hours games is incredible. Great game!

Aliens vs Ancient Indians by paruthidotexe 2016-09-03T09:32:00

Nice game and nice music.
I would have liked the theme to fit the mechanics a bit more. And maybe you could add a small cooldown between shots as I can sweep through the first waves just by moving left and right and mashing the spacebar.

Hammer Stone by 9.ar7k 2016-08-31T09:22:00

Very nice game. It really took me more time than I'd like to admit to figure out the weight mechanic. Nice idea, well executed.
Oh and I tried only the web version and the rock switching didn't work there.

Heroneous by NoNameNoSocksAndGuests 2016-09-03T11:37:00

I love the graphic! gameplay i think is funny with some friend! i wish you had time to introduce some power up!

LD39 — Running out of Power

CHAINED by Mr. Chelnoque 2017-08-04T11:08:38Z

This is really interesting, very nice atmosphere. I think you perfectly delivered the chained feel. It was quite hard since the harmful enemies had colors very similar to the other ones, and in the end I couldn't break free but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

Displaceable source by HolyBlackCat 2017-08-04T10:01:07Z

Amazing work as always! Also really hard, I managed to die 40 times in 47:41 and I think probably half of them were caused by the boss (that second stage kept destroying me before I could land a hit and it took me a while to figure out how to deal with it).

Thank you for your entry. This is a really good game, and not only in a game jam context. Keep making games!

Spincharge by DMajor 2017-08-07T09:20:59Z

Nice game, it reminded me a bit of the beyblade game I used to play years ago. Very cool textures on those spinning tops, but if you worked also on the aesthetics of the environment it would have been a bit more appealing. Sometimes the game called a draw even if I still had some energy left. Other than that it's a nice entry.

Good job!

Wind, Sun and Power by concalf 2017-08-01T20:08:43Z

Beautiful graphics, I like the sunlight moving around. I don't know if it's the absence of music or the slow pacing or the (apparent) absence of penalty for doing nothing, but I didn't feel any pressure to focus on "playing well".

Wind, Sun and Power by concalf 2017-08-01T20:08:45Z

Beautiful graphics, I like the sunlight moving around. I don't know if it's the absence of music or the slow pacing or the (apparent) absence of penalty for doing nothing, but I didn't feel any pressure to focus on "playing well".

Plagued Station by Mr_Field 2017-08-15T17:42:27Z

Amazing game! A brilliant idea and an extremely polished execution. I have no suggestion on how to improve this apart from the missing "down to interact" tip at the beginning. I love how you tackled the double jump mechanics. Great job!!

Shekateka by dietzribi 2017-08-02T13:17:24Z

Dang this is good! I got nothing to complain about. It hits all the sweet spots this kind of game is supposed to hit. Great job!

Yet Another Exhausted Day by Gao Ming 2017-08-01T00:23:24Z

The movement is just hilarious.

After that first impression I got the feeling it was a bit too easy. I definitely changed my mind at the 90° curve level. I appreciated the change of perspective in the flying cabinet level, it added some variation. Nice ending too.

THE RISING OF THE MACHINES by GreepyBrainsDev 2017-08-01T20:24:33Z

This was really nice, i liked the narrator and the camera shake added a lot of punch to the hits. I liked that you put a boss fight, otherwise it would have been a bit monotonous. I had fun with this, good job.

GREED by NORRIMO 2017-08-09T11:15:27Z

I played only the jam version and I liked the idea and graphic style. The fact that the movement is quite fast makes it a bit weird that there's no animation for the player movement or jump. Good job anyway

Ministry of Synthesis by impbox 2017-08-02T19:54:08Z

As a former electronic student, this is gold.

Extremely difficult, and sometimes I had to go by trial and error, but still it's very well done and the idea is really good. A minor complaint is on the sound of the waves, as it is more often than not just noise, it can be a bit annoying, especially when I'm analyzing the waves to understand what's missing. Oh and the theme is basically just in the description, rather than the game itself but having seen the quality of the work I'm still glad you did it like this.

I didn't manage to finish it but I'm pretty sure I'll keep it around to try and finish it some time later.

Great job!

Durst by Pikas96 2017-08-07T15:31:38Z

Nice game. I like the graphics, the sound and the final "cutscene" (although I would have liked to see one at the beginning too). One thing about the story and the mechanics is that if the character is dying from a disease, I feel like it doesn't make much sense that he heals himself after every level. I get that if you make only a global health bar you risk that dying is a bit too unforgiving if you force the player to start over, but it would be more connected to the story.

That's just my thought on the story and theme, since gameplay-wise your solution is probably better. Good job!

Journey in the Dark by FurkanFS 2017-08-04T10:47:46Z

Solid entry. I like the minimal graphics, and the sounds coupled with the darkness create a nice isolation feel. The use of the theme is basically the same as in our entry so I can only appreciate it :P

Good job!

Breath by sundr0 2017-08-01T20:33:33Z

The mood here is amazing. It perfectly delivers the feeling it's supposed to.

Bulbino's Quest! by alpenter 2017-08-01T21:18:45Z

Really well done, and quite hard. I love bulbino!

Thermal Power Plant K-13 by Finlal 2017-08-04T23:54:03Z

Beautiful graphics and apparently some nice mechanics but you really need to add a small tutorial, at least in the description because I didn't understand what half of the symbols mean or what I was supposed to do (maybe it's just me). I think that if it was a bit more clear it could be a great game (at least it looks like it from the large amount of details you put in)

Nex Machinan by MestreRothLD 2017-08-07T09:51:25Z

Well done, nice graphics and sound, gameplay is smooth. It works really well, good job!

Every Light Goes Out by sbeif 2017-08-01T11:43:51Z

@squaredev Thanks for your feedback, we tried the game also on a couple of weak laptops and it ran more or less smoothly, so unless it's very old or something like a netbook I think it might be able to run it.

We thought about adding an alternative input method but since the webcam mechanic is the main feature of the game we were afraid that it would deliver a lesser experience. But if it turns out that many people can't play the game because of this constraint we'll include it.

Every Light Goes Out by sbeif 2017-08-01T22:33:55Z

Thanks everyone for your feedback. We really appreciate your enthusiasm!

Since you asked for it I've added to the description a link to an alternative version that allows you to play without a webcam. I still hope that if you can you'll use the webcam input because that's how the game was meant to be played.

Every Light Goes Out by sbeif 2017-08-02T09:46:30Z

@squaredev @shezard @whiteninja @kevin-borrell @n-feofentov @branquelo @josehzz

Hey guys I've updated the description with a link to a build that allows you to turn on the light by pressing "P".

Every Light Goes Out by sbeif 2017-08-02T10:52:41Z

@zenmumbler Yeah I can see that. If you use a smartphone I suggest instead of turning the flashlight on and off, to aim it towards and away from the camera, so that you don't have to worry about pressing the right touch button (that might require you to look at the phone screen from time to time).

With a light that has a physical button it should be more comfortable.

Every Light Goes Out by sbeif 2017-08-04T10:20:33Z

Thank you guys, you're making us really happy with all your comments :D

BATTERYMAN RECHARGES THE WORLD! by XAVIER_INDIE_GAMEDEV 2017-08-04T11:30:15Z

Great job guys, this is well done and fun to play!

Mad Trax by boats 2017-08-02T16:21:28Z

Gorgeous graphics and music. This was really beautiful and well made. I just felt maybe a bit too constrained by the energy consumption and it left me with little to no choice. But maybe that's just me, in tower defense I usually like to upgrade stuff and have many choices. Great job anyway!

Gradient Descent by Zelos 2017-08-02T14:24:40Z

Amazing.

Mayor on a Roll by maniacanshul 2017-08-02T11:27:15Z

This was really fun to play. I loved the intro, and the music and the graphics worked very well together. Good job!

Temple of Illumination by Johngun 2017-08-01T21:28:25Z

Really nice platformer, great level design. The only complaint I can think of is that maybe the theme is a bit of a stretch

Mountaintop Groovy Robot Laser Battle by Jeremy Ryan 2017-08-02T13:49:57Z

Awesome graphics, animations and music.

One problem though: if I keep the attack/dodge/block/charge button pressed, it does the corresponding action at every beat. Since I think it would be too hard otherwise (I died quite a lot as it is), it's not a great problem, but maybe for a rythm game you should reward players who can keep up with the rythm (but in that case, even though the music is really awesome, it might be better to use something with a slightly more heavy beat).

Anyways, this is great nonetheless, so good job!

Roboy Awakening by Arden 2017-08-09T11:28:23Z

This is a gem! Really nice job on everything, from music to graphics to gameplay to story. I really liked the narrative and the ending. Really a great entry!

daemon by bombjack 2017-08-04T13:52:13Z

I just tried the updated version and encountered a bug: the wall jump fires automatically if you hit a wall while keeping C pressed from your first jump. Furthermore it is possible to jump through platforms. This led me to jump on top of the roof and reaching the end by just going right and then falling down.

Little Light by Qu4k 2017-08-01T21:40:30Z

Beautiful graphics, and well done platformer. My biggest complaint is that I couldn't play it fullscreen. I had a light background so my eyes struggled a bit to see in the dark.

Floppyboy by Dariusa 2017-08-05T09:08:53Z

Really nice entry. Good visuals, great music and funny dialogs. Great job!

Battery Battle by arctic_allosaurus 2017-08-09T10:57:34Z

Nice game, there's nothing particularly innovative in terms of gameplay but it is well done. Good job.

The Final Boss: Running Out of Powers by n.feofentov 2017-08-01T21:02:44Z

Really nice, this was one use of the theme that I was waiting to see, and you did it quite well. I didn't manage to kill the boss after 3 tries but I think that with a few more tries it could be done. Still, pretty difficult.

Maybe edit the description of the game because I didn't check the comments until after I played and found out I could dash only after I lost that power :D

T.A.G. Reborn by Code Dream 2017-08-01T00:37:33Z

This is a nice entry, you have a great tutorial and a good amount of variation in the traps.

The only thing I feel like mentioning is the fact that I found the controls to be a little clunky, like not entirely responsive (for example sometimes when I tried to jump while going down a slope it either ignored it or jumped lower than usual).

Good job anyway.

Wayside : A world awaits you by TheCodeFactory 2017-08-05T00:12:46Z

A part from the weird physics of the jump (the drag is a bit too high imho) the game is really good. Nice graphics, nice music, nice controls and a pretty good level design. Good job!

Discharge by SurprisinglyShockedCat 2017-08-01T07:55:30Z

Simple and effective, I like it.

I noticed that sometimes it didn't shoot where I was aiming, it made me miss several times. I don't know if that was intended, just reporting it in case it wasn't.

Day and Night - 2D Game (mac/windows) by Syl-WhatsUpDesign 2017-08-04T10:35:02Z

Nice game. Maybe you should consider enabling fullscreen since the text at the beginning is quite small. Oh and I think this would work quite well with a touchscreen.

For your first ludum dare this is a pretty strong entry, good job!

PS: I took a look at your portfolio and you misspelled the link

Shadow Crawl by Connor Hagan 2017-08-01T00:00:51Z

I like the mood you set up there, both the music and the graphics work well in that sense, but I feel like the experience could benefit from a better tutorial/explanation. For example I'm still not sure how do I gain or lose sanity. Anyways, nice job.

Night Driver by nbitsstudio 2017-08-02T16:37:54Z

Amazing graphics, really good audio and physics (although I'm not really a good judge on that since I never play racing games). Everything is well done, the only drawback is that I couldn't feel the theme here. Great job anyway!

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Heart Of Stone by holgk 2017-12-06T14:18:47Z

Wonderful graphics, good mechanics (although the units are a bit unbalanced in favor of the ranged ones). The main issue for me is that it has basically nothing to do with the theme..unless you consider the fact that if you have more enemies it's bad..but it's a bit of a trivial interpretation, and it doesn't really add something to the classic tower defense genre. Don't get me wrong, the game is really well made and especially beautiful, i liked it very much. I just expected to see the theme a bit more.

Ni by HolyBlackCat 2017-12-06T10:54:22Z

Really nice entry! I actually felt the boxes as a hindrance only on the boss fight (probably because in every other case I tried to shoot all boxes before entering the fight area), so maybe you could add a few boxes that are harder to avoid? Other than that, solid gameplay, nice visuals, maybe the audio is a bit lacking (but it still delivers quite a nice atmosphere). Great job as always!

PS:you might want to opt out of humor

TYPPOS by Tymus 2017-12-06T13:59:34Z

Love the music :D

Hunt Together by Gao Ming 2017-12-06T11:23:32Z

Great graphics, really smooth camera control and really solid gameplay. I kind of missed some background music (or some sort of forest noise), and the directional audio was a nice addition but it would have been more effective if it helped identifying close enemies. Great entry overall.

DUI: The Game! by AfroAnt 2017-12-12T10:51:45Z

At first I didn't understand that my goal was to get home as wasted as possible and the game didn't make much sense. After I got that it became a pretty good game. The drunkness effects are great. It fits the theme perfectly. Good job.

Save the Plants by joski 2017-12-12T18:22:49Z

Great graphics, audio and gameplay. My right arm got stuck on a plant at some point but I managed to set it free by wiggling the analog stick. Great job!

Procedural City Maze by artmajcher 2017-12-12T10:36:54Z

Good job on the procedural generation, however the game doesn't fit the theme very much, as it looks like as soon as you grab the first box all walls are generated. I also had a problem with the mouse control where sometimes it jumped to a specific position and made me rotate and fall from the path. Overall, good job technically, but the game feels a bit lackluster.

One for sorrow by bisente 2017-12-10T15:08:12Z

This is very interesting. It perfectly fits the theme in a smart and new way. I loved the music and the mood (btw the music stops after a while if the fight is a bit long). The art looks great. Great job overall!

The Curse of Power by sbeif 2017-12-12T10:20:45Z

Thanks everyone! I hope you all had fun playing our game :) @sgadrat That's a really good suggestion, it would definitely help.

Reyerta by Tatos 2017-12-12T13:20:03Z

Nice game, technically sound. The main push-your-luck mechanic is nice and it fits the theme. I feel that it could be a really good game if you added some more rules..as of now it's a bit simple (as a board game fan, I would love to see some more strategic decision making). Other than that, the art is really nice, the game is well done and the music creates a nice mood. Well done!

Video Games by Bastienre4 2017-12-06T12:57:43Z

Amazing. Simple concept, perfectly executed. Well done!

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Revolver Curse by SkullPixel 2018-12-04T17:54:03Z

Very nice game. The warping animation is a little bit weird for a pixelart game, but overall it works well for me. Enemies work well and I love that you put in a boss fight!

My only complaint is that, as others mentioned, the movement is a little bit slow, especially vertically, almost like it was floating, or falling through honey.

Anyway, great job!

Colors of Your World by DDRKirbyISQ 2018-12-27T23:30:22Z

Loved it!

I tried the original compo version and the amount of content and polish is amazing. Everything is great for me, except maybe one thing: I loved your idea on the theme, but the outcome is pretty much null..I mean, if you didn't tell me that I was sacrificing colors I would have just thought that it was a slightly different theme for a new level.

One thing that would've blown my mind would have been if I had to replay always the same level, but with some colors (i.e. platforms or obstacles) removed. Of course I realize that from a level design point of view that's definitely not an easy task, but if you managed to create a level in which you can strip away layer after layer of platforms (or hazards) and balance that with the additional powers, that would have been truly amazing.

Anyway thank you for a great entry. Good job!

Follow Me by sbeif 2018-12-04T21:50:26Z

@acuriosity Thank you very much for your feedback, I hope losing your last survivors that way wasn't too frustrating. I noticed the dead before touching (at least for the spikes) before publishing so I reduced the colliders size, I thought it was enough but it turns out it probably wasn't. There's actually a pretty bad bug related to that in which the survivors could die if you make them pass too close to a spike. I hope it doesn't happen too often, I will fix it in an update.

@brklipel Thank you very much!

Follow Me by sbeif 2018-12-05T12:22:45Z

@1257th-or-nothing Thank you very much, I've always wanted to try creating some interesting puzzles but I have no experience so I'm afraid it would have taken too much time for me (or I'd end up with trivial/impossible puzzles). I should experiment a bit outside a jam. I'm glad you appreciated my approach on the theme.

@cincerteri Thank you, my first idea was actually to make them follow me in real time instead of waiting on checkpoints, but then every time I died, I died again because I would always freak out during the character change, so I opted for this solution.

Follow Me by sbeif 2018-12-05T17:34:23Z

@esosek Thank you so much, I'm so glad you enjoyed my game. And it's the first time someone called my music great..actually it's the first time it's been called music  thank you so much. Concerning the graphics, well, I'm not going to lie, it's not because of the limited time, this is probably the best I can do right now, if I try to go any more complex I'll just mess it up.

I'll look if I can find out something about this getting stuck bug, thanks for pointing that out.

Follow Me by sbeif 2018-12-08T08:59:39Z

Thanks everyone for your kind words! I'm so happy you liked it :) I'll definitely expand it in the future.

@mmason thank you I didn't know about pixel perfect, I'll look into it.

@p0nce I'm sorry that wasn't actually the end, you had to climb using your people and then proceed forward. You'll know it's the end when you reach a big flag. Maybe I should have added a suggestion there..

Follow Me by sbeif 2019-05-01T19:58:09Z

@najmm Thank you for your kind words and sorry I took so long to answer. It was actually quite simple, I stored the position of the player every time it moved and when it reached a checkpoint I passed the list of positions to each follower with a delay in between and they just moved to the next position at every update, updating the animation according to the difference between the previous and the current position. I also tried storing the input instead of the position and having them behave exactly like the player would, but when I passed near spikes there were slight errors and differences that often made them hit the hazard, so in the end I opted for using the positions.

Dungeon of Sacrifice by kantieno 2018-12-04T21:28:55Z

Nice one, very enjoyable. Maybe I'm just bad at it but I kept dying before receiving too many wounds, so I didn't really have to sacrifice anything :P

Sacrifice by earnso 2018-12-06T17:45:50Z

Very nice graphics, impressive for a jam. Your choice for input is not exactly comfortable (at least for qwerty users), I would've kept the over the shoulder camera also for combat (maybe inverting the y axis) with LMB for attacks. Also the collisions were a little weird, I had to hit them multiple times to kill them.

Anyway, good job!

Requiem by brklipel 2018-12-04T18:45:29Z

Nice entry. Very nice character and enemy art. The soundtrack is pretty epic sounding, so it fits your setting very well. I'm not a fan of the theme interpretation but that's just my taste. Nice game overall!

Shamanigans by SnoutUp 2018-12-05T18:00:23Z

Very well done, great entry. The graphics are really great and the mechanics work really well, with so much variety on the items and the actions. The guidelines were definitely needed, I was a bit lost at first. And I missed the audio, it would have made it a real gem.

Great entry!

Friends OR Food by najmm 2018-12-05T18:32:11Z

I really liked your subtle take on the theme, I think it's very smart (although I wouldn't have caught it if not for the description). Nice game, I'm not a fan of survivals but it's definitely well made. Maybe since you aim with the mouse the fact that the camera moves w.r.t the player can mess up their aim (it happened to me a lot because I tried it on a laptop with a touchpad, not the best call). Anyway, this is great for your first LD, well done!

Shepherd Sacrifice by aCuriosity 2018-12-04T21:57:58Z

Very nice entry, the song is great! The controls feel good and the graphics are nice. Too bad there's no real goal, but even if I don't like sandboxes, this was fun. Well done!

Toothless Speed Dating by Flying Dog Fish 2018-12-04T18:26:30Z

This is very funny, I loved the sound effects. The movement however was a little bit frustrating and the music was weirder than the graphics. Nice photo though. Nice idea for the theme (and the title).

You or Me by huot14 2018-12-04T18:11:24Z

Nice idea but honestly I'm not sure what the colors mean. I'm pretty sure that purple means you don't know if there's a trap or not but I didn't get the others. Oh and I would've liked some sort of ending, maybe based on my morality.

btw, I don't know if it's intended behavior or not but often the prisoners would die without a sound, and I'm not sure but I think it happened mostly on colored tiles.

Anyway, nice entry.

For The Greater Good by Eddie Li 2018-12-06T17:27:53Z

This was really well made. Great mechanics, perfectly fits the theme, very nice graphics and music, checks all the boxes. A really great outcome for your first jam. At one point it completely froze and I had to kill the process, but it might have been my pc.

Well done!

King's Last Stand by Pukami 2018-12-04T22:06:57Z

Beautiful graphics and nice mechanics. I feel that some good audio would really help it stand out. Well done!

Old Ways by Esosek 2018-12-04T21:42:17Z

This is really funny, I love the sound effects! Very well done, at first I thought the movement felt a bit too inertial but I was actually able to dodge all incoming progressive green people just enough to keep me on edge. Very well done!

Gears by DJH 2018-12-05T18:22:40Z

This is amazing. I wish I had your skills in level design for puzzle games. The game is really polished. My only minor complaint is that the movement inertia is little bit too much, sometimes it's a tad annoying when you can't connect properly because of that.

Anyway, this is brilliant, and I love that there's a theme for each level, it's so well thought. Great job!!

Immortal's game by dodormeur 2019-05-01T20:27:48Z

Amazing, really creative interpretation of the theme and great execution. Well done!

Harvest by fingamer 2019-05-01T19:18:20Z

This is really good, I loved that it's not just a beat em up but you actually told a story (although after foolishly buying all possible upgrades before the last fight I wish I could skip the dialogue and try again).

Great job guys!

Lifeblood Arena by svntax 2019-05-02T09:24:38Z

Just dropping by to let you know that the WebGL version breaks on collisions for me. I'll try to download it later.

The Alchemist by sbeif 2019-04-30T10:49:12Z

@enichols I'm sorry I was half asleep and wrote the wrong key in the tutorial, you should actually press 'T'..my bad, I'll update the description

The Alchemist by sbeif 2019-05-01T15:09:12Z

@noah-reinagel @ultrasonicaeron @knatt @gaming-night Thank you all, you're right about the input switch, I updated it so that it automatically detects if your using gamepad or keyboard.

I know sound can make the difference in the feel of the game but unfortunately we only managed to deliver right at the end of the jam (3AM here and I had work the day after ) so we didn't really have time to add it. That's why we opted out of audio, but we'll surely add it later on.

The Alchemist by sbeif 2019-05-01T20:34:21Z

@ldjsq You can either hit his fist right after he slams it on the floor, or you can hit is mouth right before he shoots the beam (the second one becomes pretty hard near the end as the boss gets faster as his health grows thinner and the window of opportunity becomes really short). We didn't write it in the tutorial because we wanted the players to find out, but maybe since you lose health with each attack we should have shown it more clearly..

The Alchemist by sbeif 2019-05-02T09:04:39Z

@ristoretto the hands can hit you during the return because they remain on the ground (instead of being lifted like before the attack), so I thought it would be weird if they hit you and didn't damage you.. Although it can also be weird if they hit you "outside the attack". I'm not sure which way is better..if anyone wants to join in and tell their opinion on this, please do.

Mercenary by tvle83 2019-05-01T16:46:39Z

I'm sorry I don't get it..I tried both sides but I can't find any enemies..if I stand on the defenders side I can dock to the small station and the number of saved people increases but that's it. Models are nice though.

Edit: I opened the page before all other comments so now know that there simply aren't any enemies.

Lousy Life Lessons - [LLL] by AwesomeAlliterationAlliance 2019-05-01T19:38:42Z

This was absolutely amazing, you managed to combine different types of gameplay with a really well written story, great visuals and a pretty good soundtrack. And it was all so polished, every detail and animation, I loved the "Inaccurate reflection of events" message. Oh and the voice acting, that's a really nice touch! Best entry I tried so far, well done!

Stay alive! by Richard Jedlicka 2019-05-01T11:59:20Z

Very nice idea and cool graphics! It's really hard, I also tried it in coop with another person but it's too easy if you split in heart + lungs and digestive system. One thing though is that I don't really see the connection with the theme, I can't see the concept of currency. Also, you might want to opt out of audio since there's none.

Nice job overall!

Mind Over Matter by MZA 2019-05-01T13:22:56Z

Nice idea but I got to the point where I was almost constantly stopped by the Q thing and it got a bit annoying. Also it was a bit weird that the camera jumped faster than the character. I liked your take on the theme, the graphics and the mood was certainly spot on. Nice job overall!

I D E N T I F T Y by Psychedelia 2019-05-01T13:39:01Z

This was a really nice experience, I always love trying narrative games during jams and this was well made. I managed to get it almost right on the first try. I'm not seeing a strong connection to the theme but it's still a solid entry, it only needs a soundtrack that matches the situation to really shine. Great job!

PizzoTyping by Carpin 2019-05-01T20:42:13Z

Very nice idea, also using the introductory conversation both as a tutorial and as a settings setup was really clever. Well done!

Snots Quest by Lodugh 2019-05-01T14:02:57Z

This is a solid entry on all categories. I have just a few notes. I felt that the initial light was a bit too weak, and I managed to finish the game only when I reached the first vendor with enough cells to buy like 4 levels of light. Also the fact that you need to have at least 40 cells to buy something is a bit limiting. Also on the main menu I couldn't see the help button at first so I didn't even know that I could attack..maybe my display is too dark? Anyway I liked your game very much, great job!

PS: loved the graffiti

Temple attack by bryyrt 2019-05-01T14:21:22Z

Well done, your take on the theme is solid (although fairly common from what I've seen so far) and I enjoyed it although I'm not a fan of survival games. FYI, the game crashed after a while.

Brain Drain by svdvorak 2019-05-01T13:09:27Z

One little note, both the people and the tasks overlap incorrectly, making it hard to understand what you're clicking on when there's more than one item at the same location.

Anyway brilliant take on the theme! I loved the art and bgm. Great job!

Bread by Quackqack 2019-05-01T15:18:47Z

Brilliant! I love the tweets on the side and the shadows effect. Very nice and original take on the theme. Well done!

SoulHunt by Wolf Flare 2019-05-01T18:58:57Z

Really good graphics, and the menu audio is nice, I'm sorry something went wrong.

Behind Your Light by Cem Adiloglu 2019-05-02T09:42:32Z

This is really nice! Can I ask you how you implemented the light reflections on the monsters? It's really cool and I'm not sure how to do it in 2D. Is it a custom shader?

EXCESS by ratz 2019-05-01T17:13:16Z

Best game so far. I only have one doubt which also applies to the game I developed for LD 43: what do you think about letting people continue playing even when they have no chance of winning anymore? I'm afraid that could be frustrating..I mean when I realized that, I started killing myself as soon as I got hit because I knew I couldn't possibly win, so maybe should it just be a 1 life game, without the paying for the levels?

EXCESS by ratz 2019-05-01T18:05:19Z

@ratz uuuh I see that now...well played ;)

LD53 — Delivery

Deliverace by sbeif 2023-05-02T00:09:44Z

just a heads up: I didn't have the chance to test the linux build so there's a high probability that the online stuff doesn't work, since I tried with a WebGL build and that didn't work out of the box. Please let me know if you try it and it doesn't work.

Deliverace by sbeif 2023-05-03T17:22:20Z

Thanks everyone, we considered coloring just some parts to draw attention to them but in the end we decided to keep it in black and white because we liked the aesthetic more, perhaps that wasn't the right call ahaha. Also noted: dial down the difficulty a bit. I just wanted to avoid having someone completing the level on the first run and finding it trivial, but apparently I went too hard in the opposite direction. Anyway thank you for your kind words and I'm glad some of you managed to try it in multiplayer mode :)

Deliverace by sbeif 2023-05-03T19:24:49Z

thank you very much @josephgallear these are all great suggestions.

We considered the alternating buttons and liked the idea and tbh I don't remember why in the end we chose a single button ahaha, perhaps it was because we planned to deliver a smartphone and thought that smashing different buttons without a tactile feedback could have been weird, but without the touchscreen version it'would've probably been better to use two buttons.

The checkpoint idea is great if we want to make longer levels but for the current length they're probably not necessary (random generation was part of the plan but we didn't have time to implement it).

I love the idea of the progress bar, we didn't think of that but it would work very well with our idea (that we didn't manage to implement) to include username or color or something to recognize different players. It would help increasing the tension when you see someone getting closer to the finish line.

@dan-allison thank you very much, I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

Deliverace by sbeif 2023-05-04T06:21:42Z

@groundwater-studio The goal is to get to your customer on the right end of the level (the slightly open door with the money sticking out) before your opponents, while jumping over obstacles (i think they're called concrete bollard in English). In a single player game you can host a game and start the race and you just have to get to the end of the level. If you smash into them (or into the sides of balconies) you explode and have to start over. You move to the right by repeatedly spamming "K" and jump with spacebar. Please, let me know if you have any other doubt.

Marvin's Day Job: Sabotage by Devez 2023-05-03T19:50:13Z

Very cool game, I loved it and hated it simultanously. Props to you for tuning the push this well, I think it was perfect to allow a very good control when being careful but risking everything at the first mistake. Great job!

Wasabi Whiskers by Beebo Studios 2023-05-02T20:45:08Z

very cool entry, spot on sound design and art, and very good level design. Good difficulty progression and perfect amount of challenge. The reset button didn't work but it might be because I tried browser version only

De-Liver by benskca 2023-05-03T20:42:12Z

Very interesting interpretation of the theme. In the first run I understood nothing despite having watched the "How to play". The hints are definitely necessary. After that it became interesting, and I'm not sure if my kidneys zap stuff like that but it felt somewhat educational. The music is nice but I'm not sure if it fits what I would expect from a game like this. It felt like it was more suitable for a sad story-driven game. Cool idea nonetheless, good job!

Oh and I tried flinging out food before it arrived in the stomach while I was managing the kidney but it didn't get burped, is it only possible from the stomach "screen"?

The Pigeon Post Principle by cassowary 2023-05-08T21:01:26Z

Very polished product and brilliant level design! I feel like you exploited your game mechanics as much as they could possibly be exploited without introducing new elements. Got stuck at level 13 for a bit but managed to finish in the end. Amazing job, and congrats on the sax, that was something I did not expect to find, especially in a compo entry

Punchline 'em all by Samoussa 2023-05-02T21:32:42Z

Brilliant take on the theme! Very clever, the lines were cool and it was fun even if I lost against the AI. The only suggestion I can think of is perhaps adding a stronger beat

Zip and Steady by TopperVideoGames 2023-05-02T22:01:52Z

very good level design and progression, with a better presentation (for example an animation for the movement instead of a walking animation while standing still and then a teleport to the next square) this would be really great

Broomstick Blitz by nsadie 2023-05-03T18:13:29Z

Cool game, I'm not personally a fan of games without an end (unless there was some twist that I missed later on), but other than that the game is well made, the art is cool, the controls are well balanced between having enough control but not too much and I think the difficulty was well tuned, which is important in this type of games, well done!

Legal_Transactions.bat by johjoh 2023-05-03T18:34:00Z

I suspect that the high scores are not synchronized between players so I'll write mine here: 269600

Very nice game, simple concept but well thought out mechanics with a good execution. The web version could have been improved by enabling the full screen mode to see more of the map at the same time (sometimes it was hard to notice the attackers on the other side of the map).

Pack It In! by Broccolly 2023-05-02T21:01:33Z

Level five is almost impossible with a mouse. I would see this working well on a smartphone as with a touchscreen you don't have to "aim" for the intersection. Other than that it's a very nice entry, simple concept and good execution, well done.

A Backyard Scramble by Bea 2023-05-03T19:10:45Z

I had some troubles exiting the initial cage and lost more than half my eggs there, but other than that it's a nice entry, the music especially is great

Parcels, Please by Mat Stevenson 2023-05-02T21:13:00Z

135 dollars and 6.08 minutes. Nice game, works well, although I would have liked more couriers since most of the time I was just waiting for them to come back and losing money. Perhaps you could consider making them a maintainance cost instead of a one time purchase so that the more courier I have, the harder it is to manage them and the higher the cost, for a possible higher gain. Anyway nice game and good execution

Smuggling Pirates by Hoeleboele 2023-05-03T16:54:34Z

Really nice, I thought I did somewhat decent with 900, then I went to the leaderboard and saw a 22000..and with 9 rating received I'm not even in the top 6 ahahha. Very nice idea, and good execution, loved the tutorial, it was definitely needed and made the overall experience much better. One thing I didn't like much was the sequentiality of moving into different areas of the ship. I guess that was desired for increased difficulty but it was a bit frustrating when I knew where I wanted to go but went the wrong way and perhaps even overshot in a rush, all while taking damage.

Rescue Rat by Sashalipatov 2023-05-03T18:48:45Z

I got an error when trying to play after the tutorial Screenshot 2023-05-03 203859.png After a page refresh however I was able to play. Cool art, fitting music and funny dialogues. I noticed however that I was almost exclusively looking at the minimap, as it made it easier to locate the goal and to avoid plague rats. At the same time though, I think this was making the gameplay less interesting. Perhaps you could consider a different approach, like for example an arrow that points towards the target so that I have to memorize the map a bit and have to look at the main scene.

Hell'o-Cargo by agudar 2023-05-08T19:51:49Z

Best game I tried so far. The theme is definitely there and it's tied very well to the gameplay mechanics, very fluid control and gameplay, great graphics, great music, a few more obstacles/enemies and a few more levels and this is a complete game. Loved the plot twist at the end. Great job guys!

Firestarter by barce 2023-05-03T20:57:53Z

This is amazing, the level of polish is astounding. Great art and music and the combat feels natural, which is not easy in a beat em up. Only the theme here is a bit of a stretch but since this edition's was so uninspiring I can't blame you. I'm not 100% sure what happend at a certain point when while interacting with a machine I respawned at the start of the level. I had fun and I'm glad I played it, great job!

Diseased Dirigible by Falk Hoeppner 2023-05-03T17:15:16Z

funniest entry so far, loved the music. The art is cool although there is a bit too much contrast between the definition in the characters and in the ship. It also pulls you out a bit when you climb and it remains into a walking animation. But apart from that it's a nice game, good job!

Flooding Fisherman by JoaoPBax 2023-05-02T21:48:40Z

Very cool art, the mix of 2d and 3d is a bit strange but it works. The idea is nice but I felt like the challenge was mostly due to the stuff filling up the boat and making it harder to change the rod, while I probably would have enjoyed more a gradual increase in pickups and obstacles as a way to increase the difficulty. I also wasn't sure if there was a goal or progression, other than the boat life points, but that didn't push me to pickup more stuff, only to avoid obstacles.

Slow News Day by JosephGallear 2023-05-03T19:39:18Z

This is a very clever take on the theme, I love to see these kind of creative games. I think your idea for a voiceover would be pretty funny with a good broadcaster voice. Alternatively this might also work very well as a multiplayer party game, a la fibbage, where each player must respond to news or perhaps even prompt their own news. Very cool artwork and the music is spot on. Great job!

KPI_MASTER by DankNStein 2023-05-03T20:21:38Z

Very nice game! Interesting take on the theme and really polished product, cool art, finely tuned gameplay and great music. Well done! Screenshot 2023-05-03 221927.png

RELEASE THE MEAT by NuiN 2023-05-02T22:23:47Z

I agree with pretty much everything @danmerey said. This is a very good entry and since I like these kind of games I enjoyed it a lot. With a couple of the already suggested tweaks, this would be great

Solar Eclipse by Luxiffre 2023-05-03T17:59:19Z

This is amazing and I loved it, best game I played so far (probably because I love action platformers). The idea of having the double jump tied to the attack is very cool, the art and music are great and I really hope you'll continue development. That said I really don't see the theme here. It almost feels like this doesn't belong to this specific jam more than any other jam (or perhaps you took one of the discarded themes "every input does two things" and applied it to just one input :P). Anyway, great job!

Side question: did you develop any other games? I'd be interested in seeing more of your work but you don't have other LD projects here unfortunately. From the quality and polish of this however I'm pretty sure this isn't your first rodeo

Oh and one more minor thing: the dialog was a bit too fast to read comfortably.

Solar Eclipse by Luxiffre 2023-05-03T20:03:41Z

Ooh ok I get it, I completely agree that this edition's theme was very disappointing, I almost gave up because of that and ended up partecipating mostly because I decided to try making my first online multiplayer game and suprisingly succeeding (although the game itself ended up being very simple because of that)

Dude Germinal looks amazing! And it's my favourite kind of game too (Celeste is one of my favourite games and I have to admit I can see the similarities, but in a good way it seems)! It's definitely on my to buy list now. Do you have any plan on porting it to switch by chance? I'd love to play it there.

Dungeon Delivery Service by the Sÿhl 2023-05-02T17:23:28Z

It took me a while to understand what each action did, but it's not clear to me if there's something other than score that changes and whether there's an actual end. I got to 101 points and the game got stuck moving back and forth. The music is very cool and the art is nice.

Pack It Up by thomaspixelart 2023-05-08T21:32:44Z

Beautiful game, love what you did with just one input, this would work perfectly as a mobile game. Great graphics, music, level design, everything is spot on. Great job! [Screenshot 2023-05-08 232945.png](///raw/7a3/2/z/5b9e7.png)

LD54 — Limited Space

Micromachines by HolyBlackCat 2023-10-05T14:51:20Z

Very cool idea and very polished game. I always make sure to check your games when I join a jam because they're usually great. The quality is great in this one too, but I feel there are a couple of things keeping it from becoming a great game: the first is that I think I completed the first four levels with the this design without giving it so much thought, so perhaps the level design could be changed so that this is not the best choice as often Screenshot 2023-10-05 163658.png The other is that I'm not a fan of the behaviour where when expanding a bit, both sides would move, as it wasn't always intuitive where one would stop and suddenly cling to a surface. This feeling was stronger with purple blocks. Also I think in level 4 I had to start over a couple of times because I pushed a block like a pixel too far, so perhaps some kind of snap to a grid could help.

Also as a side note, my game crashed at level 6 while I was trying to make a probably invalid shape (also how do you get down those stairs with only horizontal expanders without making the blocks stick to each other??) Screenshot 2023-10-05 163240.png I verified that it crashes every time I make this combination (which I realize doesn't make sense, but still..) Screenshot 2023-10-05 164401.png

Micromachines by HolyBlackCat 2023-10-05T19:36:16Z

@holyblackcat oohh I get it, when I tried to place two rods in a row I saw them in red and it didn't occur to me that it could be fixed by placing a square on both ends, i thought it was illegal. Ok now it all makes sense!

Yarn by manabreak 2023-10-03T12:47:21Z

Great game! This is a very good take on the theme, with a limitation turned into a strength. Amazing music, great art and great overall. It reminds me a lot of windowframe, which is probably the best game I ever tried in all game jams I joined (see https://managore.itch.io/windowframe ), but with a simpler mechanic. The only "problem" I see is that it can be a bit frustrating to get stuck and starting over so I would suggest keeping the levels a bit on the shorter side

Super Earth Spacer by OWC 2023-10-03T15:54:16Z

This is the most polished game I tried so far. The art is amazing and the game feels great. I'm just not sure if the capacity to build our own world really adds to the experience. I think that to achieve that we would need more different blocks, such as ally spawn, shield, or stuff like that, that allows a greater range of strategic choices. I realize that perhaps you had something like that in mind and you just didn't have time to implement it (it's crazy enough that you reached this level of polish) but right now it feels like the only viable strategy here is "group the enemy spawns on one side so that you can shoot in that general direction and never get surrounded". Also I feel like the theme here is more of an "unlimited space" as it keeps expanding. I hope this comes across a constructive criticism because the quality is great and I'd love to see this idea exploited more

Pool Frog by notnasiul 2023-10-10T21:31:53Z

Very nice game, maybe just a bit too easy, after the first try in which I died immediately, I just kept going, it might make sense to slowly increase the difficulty, for example by making the fish (are they?) faster so that you have less time in the water, or making lilies sink sooner as time goes by. Well done nevertheless

PIO by sbeif 2023-10-03T13:47:04Z

@eryph Thanks for the report, I think it can happen if you move while you're eating, since the check to verify if you have enough space around you only happen when you start eating, if you then move to a new position before growing you can end up in an invalid position.

Also we were about to add nicer death and win transitions but then we realized that it was just 45 minutes to the deadline, so we decided not to risk it

PIO by sbeif 2023-10-03T14:26:23Z

@notnasiul ahaha I'm glad you liked it! For that level I suggest slowly moving to the right while you let them follow you and circle around platforms, to slowly "guide" them into a single big flock. If you rush in it's hard to dodge them all.

The last level instead requires careful planning and timing, I find it hard too.

PIO by sbeif 2023-10-03T16:24:26Z

@magalix in that level you can eat up to three eagles before releasing them, so my go-to strategy there is eating the first three, than retreating a bit, releasing all of them to my left and either eat the last one and release it to my left or fly over it

PIO by sbeif 2023-10-04T09:32:01Z

@magalix ahahah actually I made that level with the purpose of pushing players to try eating more eagles to "discover" that possibility on their own, but maybe I should have specified that

@feor I'm impressed! I think you're the first one to complete the game, and you did it without eating multiple eagles? That's crazy! And yes, I just assume the eagles are very well mannered and choose not to disturb you in your home

@oller125 If you try to eat near a wall you don't get damaged, you blink red just to notify that you can't eat because there's no space. It was an attempt at showing why you weren't eating and without making you think that it just ignored the input, any suggestion on how to make that clearer is welcome. And for the death we planned to do some kind of short animation but we ran out of time, we don't like it either. The upside however is that this makes respawning a bit faster

@viktorthegreat I agree, the death when you eat near other eagles is very annoying, I think that the main issue is that you die apparently before growing in size so it seems unfair, maybe growing in size when you start to eat instead of after could be better, and maybe growing towards the back instead of from the bottom center could make it happen less often. Or maybe even just delaying the death screen a bit would let you show the collision with the enlarged chick and justify the death

Anyway thank you all for your feedback and for trying our game, we really appreciate it

PIO by sbeif 2023-10-04T14:38:51Z

@smitner that's an interesting idea, it would shift the focus more towards space awareness and make a stronger connection to the theme. In that case I'd probably need to look at the level design from a different perspective, such as using some eagles to make you stuck and others to finish you off. That's definitely an interesting point, thank you

PIO by sbeif 2023-10-05T10:01:08Z

thank you @kasmilus , I agree with the coyote frames concept, unfortunately I couldn't find the time to tune the growth check implementation for some leeway, I'd probably let the player move automatically if he's close to the wall but there's room on the opposite side. The puzzle could have been an interesting choice, in that case I would probably consider making it turn based and with a discrete grid movement

PIO by sbeif 2023-10-11T10:36:01Z

@jrevel @devez Thank you very much, I know the input mapping might be a bit weird, I noticed people having some troubles at the beginning, maybe using z and x as some do could help but I was worried about qwertz and azerty layouts, maybe I should just look into keys that remain in the same positions in all layouts. Gamepad would surely be easier.

@johnnysix do you mean that instead of shooting them over the edge they collided with the edge? I might need to tweak the virtual mouth position (they get shot out from a position which should roughly be in the middle of the open mouth but I didn't have time to check how correct it was for all sizes, when PIO grows I move it up but maybe it remains a bit too low). Using the eagles as projectiles could be a good idea if we expand this to include other enemies (maybe even a boss-fight) or breakable obstacles, thanks!

Purrimeter by johnnysix 2023-10-11T14:27:28Z

This is amazing, very good idea, I especially loved level 6 (although it's very hard) with the toggling blocks mechanic. Very clever addition to the design. The game is extremely polished for a game jam, definitely in my top 3

Carl's Limited Adventure by Ranzor 2023-10-06T17:51:15Z

Very cool idea, it's nice how you play with the window and the comments on the window title were funny. I found a couple of bug though: after a couple of death (more like 10 probably) the window started getting bigger at respawn and it wouldn't move, making it impossible to proceed. Also I'm not sure if it was wanted but the first time I went through the first door I ended up in the second level, while the second time I ended up in a bossfight. I don't know if that was randomized but the window glitched a bit when loading the second level, so maybe it skipped the bossfight by mistake. Anyway very nice game!

Seagull Island | L'île aux Goélands by Seb_degraff 2023-10-05T16:05:37Z

Very cool and relaxing game. Well done. I'm just sad I couldn't zoom out and keep going Screenshot 2023-10-05 180426.png

There are leaks by Eryph 2023-10-03T10:31:54Z

This is extremely cool, a brilliant take on the theme and an excellent implementation. It was really hard to keep track of which keys I no longer needed to hold so perhaps a slighlty longer transition would help (or maybe with a few more tries I can learn to look always at the first and last keys), but still, this is a great idea and a very fun game, great job!

Floodwater by John Gabriel 2023-10-05T19:30:18Z

This was more of a "limited steps" but, still a very well made sokoban variation, nice job!

Gyronimo by pepnou 2023-10-03T13:23:31Z

This is really well made, but very frustrating. I'm not a fan of the high inertia of the character, especially in a platformer that requires this level of precision. I'd probably suggest to decrease it a little bit. Other than that, and that I didn't feel the theme much, everyhting works great and it's a very cool game.

Gyronimo by pepnou 2023-10-04T08:42:19Z

@enderswype I fully understand the design choice and I feel your struggles with tuning the difficulty, I also often make my games a bit too difficult because when it comes to level design I usually already have almost a day of training on the controls. This time on my game I tried to start easy but I think only one person managed to complete the last two levels :( BTW it probably just takes a bit of time to get used to your character, especially considering your last screenshot, where you had an almost perfect run

If I Fits, I Sits! by cheesepencil 2023-10-05T16:11:51Z

AHAHAHAHA I can't believe it! Not even 5 minutes after publishing our game I told my girlfriend "dang! we missed an opportunity! If someone has made a game about a cat and called it "if it fits I sits" I'm gonna have to give them 5 stars on the theme". And here you are. I'm going to try your game now

EDIT: Not the best score but I consider myself satisfied Screenshot 2023-10-05 181538.png Very nice game, when I thought about this idea I was considering it more as a flex the limbs to make the whole cat fit in a box top-down, but this is a quicker arcade version, very nice!

Though I Walk by AdamCYounis 2023-10-05T15:49:00Z

Great game! Brilliant concept and very polished. The cutscene at the beginning gave me a very serious and professional blasphemous-like feel. It just missed some background ominous music to be perfect. Oh and I go stuck a couple of times in a level where I **think** I was squashed by the two layers while I was exiting the level, but I saw a glimpse of the next level before dying so that was quite confusing, but other than that it was amazing

The Giant's Globe by Jvdwijk 2023-10-03T16:19:07Z

I really like the idea of building your skillset, although it didn't give me the "limited space" feel, since it's actually limited by what you find in the level, rather than what you can "equip". Nevertheless the idea is great, it just needs a bit more polish (for example I got stuck between tiles while falling next to a wall a couple of times, the two platforms that are not synchronized and you have to wait for them without doing anything, the skill audio that lags a bit behind the skill activation) but it works well

The King is Watching by Tvorojok 2023-10-05T09:29:06Z

Really a great game, extremely polished, It could have worked well enough with less options but you went all in and I loved it. I loved the main mechanic, the only thing I think could make it better (and I'm really nitpicking here) would be if you gave more emphasis to the fact that you only have enough workers for three squares and somehow justify why they need to stick together. I think it would add some nice flavour to the main mechanic, but again, I'm saying this only because everything else is flawless. Great job.

Neptune's Wake by feor 2023-10-03T10:56:27Z

Very cool game, it took me a while to understand how to use the sacrifice mechanics, but other than that it works great. The theme is a bit thin, I would have loved for it to be more present than in other conquest games. Another thing is if the random sinkage cuts you off early you can be as strong as you like in those regions but have no chance. One way around this might be to consider also the amount of units when you sacrifice to gain sacrifice points and the possibility to spend more points to sink larger areas. This would allow you to make a comeback from a small stronghold and to exploit more the sacrifice mechanic

Safe Space Passage by Kepsert 2023-10-05T00:06:50Z

ok, where can I throw my money? I would buy this. Everything is basically perfect, from the iterpretation of the theme, to the implementation, the graphics, the level design, the music and the story. And everything merge together, the level design and the story are perfect for this mechanic, and the art is perfect for the story. I loved every second of it. It's so polished that it's crazy to think that this was made during a game jam. Best game so far hands down, and definitely in my top three of all jams ever.

On the technical side I can only mention a bit of tearing with white stripes in the middle of the screen (html5 version), a couple of times were I kinda teleported, and the fact that the springs were a bit wonky sometimes. I was also a bit confused about the key icon in the first levels, was there an hidden key? I tried looking around but I couldn't find it. Oh and the gamepad is highly suggested, I started with the keyboard but everything changed when the fire nation attacked (and I tried the gamepad: way better experience).

And now it's time for a weird coincidence OT: while playing your game I remembered that during the theme slaughter I came across "giraffe", and approved it because I immediately thought of a platformer where the character is a giraffe and can use it's unusual shape to cling to platforms and rotate (similarly to what you did with the safe space here) and liked that idea. Well, after trying your game and enjoying it so much I looked at your previous games and found @kepsert profile description stating "I appreciate giraffes" and his LD50 game giraffe o'clock and was stunned. End of the weird OT, sorry for wasting your time, have a nice day and thank you for creating this gem.

Monstrous Search by Rafael Garcez 2023-10-03T13:14:54Z

The game is well made, it's very simple but I think it works well, mostly thanks to the leaderboard that brings out some competitivity

Stretchmancer by Choo 2023-10-11T10:20:00Z

Ok this was amazing. Brilliant concept, perfect execution, very funny dialogues with great voice acting and an unexpected twist. I loved every second of it. Oh and the squashed message was a brilliant idea, it made me feel very clever :) The only thing I think could be done a bit better is the graphics, not because it could be done better, but because it could be done differently. The chosen art style is very well made, but imho in a game where you stretch everything, perhaps a higher resolution (but still low poly) flat color style might work better (I don't know if I explained it well, something that scales well to achieve something closer to vectorial rather than raster graphics). The aliasing here is a bit aggressive and the texture stretch doesn't always look great. Everyhting else is top notch. This is definitely one of, if not the best game I tried in this jam. I'd love to play an extended version of this, please keep working on it.

Bathtub Buccaneers by Cloverfall 2023-10-03T10:19:52Z

very nice idea, I liked that you had to "aim" with the whole ship and it controls quite well. It is a bit frustrating though to lose without any feedback on the hits received. I still don't know how many hit it takes to sink. On another note I think you could have made the theme pop more if you designed the level with smaller spaces, as it is I didn't feel the space limitation.

Unsquished by RogerW 2023-10-11T09:56:34Z

Very cool game, the theme is spot on, the music is great, the graphics are simple but very clean and well made and the crt effect really sells it. Great entry!

Packed to the Gills by npckc 2023-10-05T16:31:05Z

Very cute art, and you managed to make it feel alive basically without character animations, well done! Very funny, cool idea and very polished, great job!

Clearing space by Sevansevan 2023-10-05T16:36:28Z

Really interesting new take on sokoban, very well done!

No Space for You by DavidJihwan 2023-10-09T15:12:39Z

The story is nice, albeit simple, I just wish there was more gameplay with it, even just some kind of dialogue choice if you want to keep it on the narrative side. Oh and the embedded version here doesn't load.

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Tiny Boids by OccamsLaser 2024-10-08T10:44:52Z

Very cool idea, definitely spot on w.r.t. the theme!

Tara by sbeif 2024-10-08T10:27:06Z

Thanks everyone :)

@akacooh Yeah I just removed it, yesterday I left it hoping that it didn't work only because the website was overloaded but apparently not. Thanks for the suggestion

Tara by sbeif 2024-10-08T12:05:38Z

@occamslaser Yeah that is a loss, pressing "R" resets the level. Unfortunately I thought I was clever by activating the "Press R to restart" text in level 2 or so only when you fall into the pit, but if you don't fall there, you may never know :(

Tara by sbeif 2024-10-09T13:25:11Z

Thanks everyone for your kind words

Tara by sbeif 2024-10-09T15:10:22Z

Hi @nadan Thank you so much! I'm really glad that you and your friend liked our game :) I think it took us about a couple of hours (after reading the theme and going to sleep since the jam started i think at 1am in our time zone) to come up with the core idea, then during the whole jam we refined it and added and removed details but most of the concept was there. The level design I think took almost a full day.

Tara by sbeif 2024-10-11T10:28:08Z

@tiberiusuciu Thanks for the feedback, I've seen that a couple of times but I couldn't figure out how to reproduce it, and the amount of levels back seems to be random, I think I've seen from 0 to 3. I'll definitely look into it for future development but couldn't fix it in time for the deadline

Bubble Blast Cleanup by abductedPlatypus 2024-10-08T10:36:23Z

Tiny Apple by DocGeraud 2024-10-11T11:15:02Z

Very cute artstyle, and audio, very polished

Bug Bash by ZuhairGhias 2024-10-08T12:18:57Z

The idea is nice but I have two possible suggestions: a fast forward button to increase the game speed, since during the wave I'm just waiting there for the bugs to die, I'd like that to happen fairly quickly so I can move to the next stage and add more towers. Another one would be to make it so a bug can only eat part of the food. I had two bees run past and I lost and it felt a bit too unforgiving. I like the lenses and mirrors idea very much, I don't think I've ever seen that kind of turret. Very clever!

Monster Strike by COKE 2024-10-09T09:11:18Z

As the others mentioned, the idea is nice but it would feel better with faster gameplay and more oomph to the destruction.

Humans left by JulienLussiez 2024-10-09T13:06:29Z

Why are they jumping in the hole? Why??? The inability to save them all and the music make this a very sad experience. It's kinda powerful though. Sorry about your time issues, but all in all this is an interesting entry

Head'quarters by YogurtTheHorse 2024-10-11T10:55:52Z

This definitely has the best graphics I've seen so far in this jam and probably in most if not all jams I've took part in. I'd be stunned if I found it in a fully released game, in a jam even more. The audio design is also top notch, great presentation overall. The idea of creating a dedicated alphabet is just brilliant. The only thing I could think of is that I'd like to see this as the core mechanic of a game with more context. For example this is the "brain" of a "person" that does things through these tiny creatures, with an actual person in its environment that shows what you're doing and where you have to react to the environment. I'm thinking about a sort of combination of Manual Samuel and Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime

Chumini: Tiny Army by Guilloteam 2024-10-11T12:20:49Z

Very cool game, very polished and good idea with the online leaderboard, battling other players definitely makes it more interesting

MicroMedic by Mechazawa 2024-10-08T21:43:16Z

Nice game, very funny articles and patient cards :)

Fairy Haven: The Search for Home by David York 2024-10-08T23:27:51Z

Cool game, very nice narration and art style. I tried settling and didn't expect the ending to be so developed. Very impressive!

Creature Crusher by BlackCat508 2024-10-09T08:44:38Z

Very nice entry, if I may add a rule variation suggestion, you could look into the rules of the board game [ghost blitz](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/83195/ghost-blitz): in that game you have to get the object that matches both color and shape, but if no object matches both color and shape you have to get the only one that matches neither. Perhaps something similar could be applied to your game, so that you have to think less linearly.

Oh also I almost forgot that in the beginning I was confused because I was expecting number 4 to work on the belt it touches (so the one above it). Later I realized it made more sense the way you made it, but I was a bit confused for the first round.

Shrimpy by Kultuk 2024-10-10T12:50:41Z

Simple game but extremely polished, with very beautiful music, sfx and artwork. Maybe it misses some sense of urgency, like for example you could lose points if you miss food and lose if you get to zero. That way you could push the player to risk more to avoid losing points, otherwise one could simply keep jumping without eating anything, which is fairly easy (which is definitely not what I did on the first run because I didn't read the tutorial on the page :eyes:)

Follow the light by Maria Alrik 2024-10-09T09:50:20Z

I was definitely not expecting a game made in figma. Very nice idea.

The Big Battle for Tiny Mouse City by Gametrodon 2024-10-08T22:04:21Z

I have to say, the faces of the mice are hilarious. Very nice!

The drunk bassist of Hamelin by Fataljg 2024-10-11T12:43:43Z

Very funny ending, cool idea and great voice acting. The only suggestion I can give you is to try to stick to a more cohesive art style. Having a single style, even if very simple and minimal, often works better than cool mismatching pieces

SOKOBEETLES by ghettobastler 2024-10-08T22:48:20Z

Really clever puzzles, it's a kind of sokoban on steroid, with move programming and additional possibilities given by the single use arrows. The difficulty level is spot on, I had to think about it, without ever feeling too lost. Very cool game, I wish there were more levels!

Ant Conquest by Dylanlemcke 2024-10-09T12:16:38Z

Very cool idea, the only thing I can suggest is to give somehow a more direct feedback of what's happening. There are many types of blocks and memorizing the matching between colors and effect is not easy to do from a single image in a few seconds, and the effect was not that explicitly visible from just the single line of units. Clever game nonetheless and very cool music

Candyween by Megurt 2024-10-11T11:38:28Z

Very cute art style but if I may make a suggestion, I think adding a shadow below the cat and more frames in the walk animation would go along way into making everything feel smoother e more integrated with the environment

The Great Dangling by magopian 2024-10-09T08:21:35Z

Very nice game, at first I didn't get it but once I got to the frenchman I realized where the difficulty lied. I had a blast with this and the sounds are very funny. I think there are some issues with the nightmare/random mode as sometimes it started refreshing continuously with new spawns.

Let's B. cereus by seastove 2024-10-08T23:06:20Z

Cool movement idea, I wish there was some kind of progression after replicating. Also if you plan on expanding this, I don't know much about bacteria movement, but imho I would have felt more in control if I had two buttons, one for clockwise and the other for counter-clockwise, just to make the wait between movements shorter

LD57 — Depths

Very clever puzzle game and extremely interesting interpretation of the theme. Also the last screen was a nice touch. Loved it!

Descendant by silkworm_sweatshop 2025-04-11T10:10:59Z

Lots of content and very polished, well done! Beutiful music too, I feel like this could almost be released as it is. The only bad thing I can say about this game is that maybe it's a bit weak on the theme but everything else is top notch. Impressive level design too, great work!

Hyperspacedive by marudziik 2025-04-10T11:19:59Z

The gameplay is a bit trivial but the graphics are really interesting

The Well by sbeif 2025-04-08T11:46:06Z

@sofia-miglan No bug there, the game is all played on a black screen through sound. The idea is to use the sounds that you hear to navigate inside the game as if you were really inside a well where no light can reach you.

The Well by sbeif 2025-04-08T12:05:15Z

@sofia-miglan Thank you so much for giving it a second try :)

The Well by sbeif 2025-04-08T12:08:28Z

@angelalb If you hear the "blaargh" sound you've been eaten and the game restarts (same as if you hear the crushing sound after falling). We wanted to add also a "Try again" voice to suggest that the level restarted but in the end we missed it in the rush to deliver. BTW there is an end, I didn't time it but I think the game only takes a couple of minutes from start to end.

The Well by sbeif 2025-04-12T08:43:54Z

@borabee I designed a physical level and used collisions to trigger the audio cues, It's probably less computationally efficient than say timing stuff, but it's way easier and intuitive to design the level this way.

@xivo @timelost Yeah most feedback included that the death/respawn is not very clear, we planned on adding a voiceover for that too but we feared it could get too repetitive and in the end we missed it in the rush to deliver

The Well by sbeif 2025-04-23T09:48:20Z

@moondweller I did try panning the monster so that the sound came from the left at first and became more centered as it came closer but apparently (and I'm only noticing now) it doesn't work with WebGL builds. In the editor it worked as expected by just modifying the StereoPan parameter of the AudioSource component.

A seance and a murder by Stratcat66 2025-04-08T11:36:37Z

This is really cool, I like the idea very much and I love how people change discussions when they move to different rooms. It took me a while to realize that I had to keep Q pressed so I lost a bit of time in the beginning just talking to people. Great job, very clever and very nice writing! Also very interesting take on the theme!

Scavenger Deep by hope42morrow 2025-04-12T09:06:30Z

I've never seen this level of quality in the artwork in a game jam before, I wish i could give more than 5 stars because it's on its own league visually. The gameplay can get repetitive but the visuals and the audio really teleport you there, making this a very powerful experience anyway. Great job!

Through the Brush by JDeeDubs 2025-04-11T16:26:05Z

Extremely interesting take on the theme and the character animation were really beautiful, although the flip even though it makes sense sometimes flickered too much. There is maybe a bit too much contrast between the details in the character and the simple style of the environment, and the character movementis a bit cluncky at times, but with a bit more polish this could become a gem. Nice work!

View in the Depth by noagard 2025-04-11T08:38:21Z

It took me awhile to figur out that I didn't have to zoom all the way in, I even tried to change my mouse wheel settings to scroll by a single line because I thought I was overshooting the correct focus position  Nice relaxing and interesting experience. I feel like it could become a great observatory simulator with actual space bodies and information about them.

View in the Depth by noagard 2025-04-11T09:03:06Z

@noagard Yeah I get it, it makes perfect sense from the game design pov, I just didn't get it right away so maybe a hint on the fact that you have to find the correct zoom level instead of zooming all the way in could help. Perhaps even just increasing the maximum zoom a little bit so that you're clearly zooming too much could be helpful as I had the whole planet in my view and my first instinct was that it was the correct zoom amount.

Meanepth by rensun 2025-04-10T11:13:46Z

Dang I nearly shat myself! Very cool game, beutiful scenery, very clever use of the artstyle as it almost looks like the voxelization/aliasing combined with the camera movement provides a sort of "animation" of otherwise static objects. Technically impressive and interesting storytelling. At the beginning I got stuck for a bit in the first tunnel when everything went red as everything was vibrating and couldn't find the object to interact with.

Mewnion café by yvaine 2025-04-08T11:25:38Z

Very beautiful artwork and the music sets a nice mood, it makes for a very cozy game. Tbh though I was a bit confused also after looking at the suggestions here, I'm not sure where the cigarettes are supposed to be. One small suggestion is to move on from the tutorial when the player clicks something instead of on a time basis as I ad to refresh the game and still wasn't able to read everything.

LD59 — Signal

Hive and Honey Horticulture by Sarah 2026-04-27T12:16:26Z

Very cool game, very polished. It might improve with some balancing as most plants made enough money that I was able to sell them all and replace as soon as a new one was unlokced. Also Mrs.Bee kept telling me that I could enable auto harvest but I couldn't find it, only to figure out after like 20 minutes that there were arrows to reach the other parts of the shop. Very impressed with the artwork, game design (you also managed to add minigames) and polish. Maybe the theme is a bit thin as I feel it applies mostly to one of the minigames

Sine Factory by oxnh 2026-04-24T14:02:34Z

This was so cool that I had to finish it. Great interpretation of the theme, I wanted to do something with waves manipulation for the "wave" LD some time ago but I couldn't make it fun and I ended up giving up. I'm glad to see it working so well here. Great job and very nice level design! Screenshot 2026-04-24 155810.png

Per Signum by apoly 2026-04-22T11:26:55Z

Very cool game, I found the perlin noise a bit in contrast with the art style of the cards and units but it was fun and definitley more compelling than I expected, with a quite a bit of content. Luckily I followed your advice, otherwise I would have been destroyed! I'm particularly impressed by the ai of the strykers, they had a very natural looking movement that managed somehow to seem completely random while actually going exactly where they needed to. Well done! Screenshot 2026-04-22 132005.png

I got stuck here, I suspect I should jump while the platform is coming down to reach the top part but it doesn't seem to work. Cool idea, it reminds me of fez.

I have no idea what I was supposed to do. Like I got more or less the possible actions but I didn't understand the feedback for my actions so I had no idea if what I was doing was correct

Very cool idea and execution, the effect is really great, it took me more than I'd like to admit to figure out that those that I thought were narrow dead ends were in fact just rocks in the middle of the path. It would help a lot to have some ambient noise and a muffled sonar beep to improve the immersion. Also I found myself spamming the sonar like crazy so maybe a very short cooldown could prevent that, or better yet adding a cost, perhaps in score so that if you abuse it you score less
