LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Twilight Souls by Yword 2022-10-13T22:37:56Z

Wonderful game! The art, the music, the gameplay, the puzzles: it all comes together in such a polished package. The tutorial was very clear and well executed. The controls take a bit to get used to, but once you get the hang of it this is an absolutely impressive entry.

Moonbase by SaxOps1 2022-10-04T14:54:11Z

I really like this concept and the game is fun to play. An in-game description of each block, what it does, and what it takes to build might be a welcome addition. Looking forward to seeing where this one goes!

Steam-Machine Survival by Ivan Garcia Filho 2022-10-13T21:07:43Z

The sound and visuals are super slick and very impactful. They definitely give that strong punch that makes it feel real, so exceptionally done! The game could use some more stuff to do: differing enemies, upgrades, a win condition, etc, but the foundation that's here is stellar.

Don't press this buzzer by eptwalabha 2022-10-13T18:41:18Z

It's kinda silly how high I am rating this game, but it's fun, simple, and well put together. If this is an "unplanned" entry, I'm crazy curious what the real deal would have looked like!

Starshot by groverburger 2022-10-06T14:28:23Z

What a rush! This game definitely requires you to make full use of your 10 seconds and the upgrades are fun and force you make snap decisions. I had a hard time with terrain readability: What is a viable path, where are the edges of map, where is there a hole in the floor that feels like it is too small for me to fall into that is nearly invisible while charging down the path at break-neck speeds to reach the flag. The procedural generation was excellent for variety in the maps, and the game was insanely fun to play.

Four Seasons In One Play by beardywombat 2022-10-04T03:43:42Z

Fun game! I like the shooting and cover system, they are fairly intuitive to understand once you get the buttons figured out. I love that you went for multiplayer for a jam and I can see where this would be a good time with friends! I also think some sound would really help bring it to life. Fun concept!

Oxylunky by daandruff 2022-10-04T04:58:01Z

Very cohesive look and feel, love the little details in the environment. Having to start from the beginning every time was a bit frustrating, but it did give me time to take in the mood of the game more. Well done!

360° MICROSCOPE by Brendo 2022-10-13T02:43:12Z

Super fun, and the soundtrack was great! Some audio feedback when the laser is ready would be a great small improvement.

10 sec to witch pain by asfdfdfd 2022-10-13T02:53:03Z

Interesting puzzle game. The ten second timer adds some challenge for sure.

A Space Polka in Ten Parts by eerongal 2022-10-05T00:02:35Z

Loved the intro and the overall vibe of the game. The random events every ten seconds were good to shake things up. I got really unlucky my first run and lost my second guy almost immediately. It took me a second to catch on to what I was supposed to be doing, but I figured it out after my first run. A background change with the "warp" every 10 seconds might make it easier to catch on to the shifts. Overall, good fun, nice bit of chaos.

Watch Wizard by monika 2022-10-13T18:01:58Z

Top marks for innovation, and thanks for adding the web port! The idea of making a gamejam entry for smart watches is most excellent. The gameplay is simple and clean, and I think is an excellent proof of concept. Well done!

Wizard Heist by TheHansinator 2022-10-13T04:03:50Z

I love the old school vibe of the game and the art and sound bring that together beautifully, very well done. The gameplay itself was interesting, and it took me several goes to get through it. It was kind of hard to read what was interactable or not the first go through, but trial and error was a good teacher there. Overall, very nice!

Piggy Go Bye Bye by Keenan Woodall 2022-10-15T05:47:51Z

I played this waaaay too much. Excellent execution on the mechanics, it was loads of fun figuring out different ways to get at that bacon. Brilliantly done!

Plop by Ayced 2022-10-04T03:36:43Z

I like the direction this game is headed. It's a little hard to plan your move without knowing the order in which the characters will act, but the system overall feels solid. Like the simple design and winter aesthetic!

Tiny Tiny Orbit by Belonzik 2022-10-04T18:28:33Z

Very nice! The gameplay, art, and sound compliment each other very well, and it feels very cohesive. The control scheme feels a bit spread, requiring the use of both WASD and Arrow keys, and then control to interact is a bit much. Maybe using ctrl to cycle through the different options would feel better? Overall, this is a phenomenal game so far, and I could this turning into a bigger game I would pick up.

The Lure of Treasure Whisper Island by GameDevZach 2022-10-13T03:02:50Z

Very nice! A nice take on the theme. I wish I could open the treasure :(

The Zero Countdown by kromeboy 2022-10-13T21:14:09Z

Solid entry, and as a number of people have already indicated the leader board is a fantastic idea to keep people playing. Good execution, though having a larger field of view would add to the game a good bit, as would a background track. Not that it needed either of those things to keep me playing

Dare to Jam by TJ101010 2022-10-04T04:32:57Z

This game is so solid! The play is simple but polished, the sound is excellent and I'm a huge sucker for getting to pick your own sound blend in a game  . One thing to improve: the readability of the items people are working on. The content is too funny and well thought out to not make easier to pick up on a glance. Heavier font might help there.

Super fun, super meta, and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Stardark by Johnsensei 2022-10-06T22:14:40Z

I really like the concept, though there doesn't seem to be a way to win? The music is really good and fits the game really well.

Spell Survivors by dnich013 2022-10-05T00:38:16Z

I am in love with this game. Its easy to pick up, fun, fast paced, and the sound, art, and gameplay link up really well. I think it would be cool to see your stats (fireball size, damage, move speed, cast speed, etc) either throughout the game or as an endgame summary page. A joy to play. Thank you for making this game!

Honk Hard by bigwhiteshogun 2022-10-06T13:57:39Z

This game has so much going for it: the art, the gameplay, the puns, the MELON, the soundtrack. I think some feedback when the player gets hit would be super helpful, some audio and/or visual cues. Also, an on screen visual of the upgrades you selected would be nice to have, just to keep track of what worked or didn't work for me on my last run. Overall, fantastic entry!

Super Auto Crusaders by Savolae 2022-10-04T22:08:11Z

Super fun to play, great little strategy game, and I love all the upgrade options.

Super Garden Lord by poboy 2022-10-04T03:54:38Z

I think this is the closest anyone has ever come to understanding "rage gardening". What delightful chaos this is! I love the art style, and the sound fits well, though I might need to get new headphones now after holding down the spacebar after the 70 second marker...Great game, thanks for the epilepsy warning!

Slow Mo Samurai by Rawb 2022-10-03T22:57:31Z

Holy cow, this one is soooo good! I loved the music and the gameplay was great. The white bullets are a bit hard to see on the light yellow backdrop, so introducing some more contrast for better readability would make this game even more enjoyable. Really really like your game!

Murmillo vs Murmillo by leekanarchism 2022-10-06T22:07:09Z

I played both players by myself, and I can see how hectic this game could get. I'm a big fan of the music for this game, and I'm curious what additions like buffs or more players might do for this game. Very nice submission!

Otherworld Kitchen by Flawed_Gamer 2022-10-03T07:07:25Z

Nice twist on the theme! I like that the difficultly scales as you progress. Some of the foods don't work quite as advertised, but it's no less than the main character deserves! Fun story, great concept for this theme.

Wizard's Basement by Kongo 2022-10-06T14:12:55Z

There is sooo much going on in this game! The control scheme is a little odd to get used to, but the gameplay is solid, the art and sound are very well done, and this is overall a fantastic game.

Count Down Dracula by Guilloteam 2022-10-07T17:35:51Z

Such a fantastic game! Super well executed, looks great, sounds great, plays great, hits the theme. Solid all the way around. Phenomenal job

Untitled Cat Game by edgeboyo 2022-10-13T17:56:19Z

Neat game and a good overall concept and take on the theme. I like the music and the quick gameplay. The gameplay is pretty rough around the edges: the controls are jarring, there are errors every end game, and other than survival I am not sure what the goal of the game is. All that said, this game is already very fun and has a lot of potential.

Chaos Pigeon by jabsatz 2022-10-03T22:27:22Z

This was a blast to play. Lots of old school GTA vibes, just more entertaining. The sound track is great and fits really well. I think the rounds were a bit too long. I caught myself looking at the time with about 90 seconds remaining each round I played. Overall, a fun bit of chaos!

Wait 4 upgrade by Gastar 2022-10-15T05:37:16Z

Looks good, sound is pretty good, and the gameplay is enjoyable. Very polished look and feel.

In The Hair Tonight by sdelay 2022-10-03T06:50:14Z

Great concept! I'm a big fan of the soundtrack, and the gameplay loop was unique. Moving my hand from one side of the keyboard to the other to go to the upgrade station felt a little clunky, but the audio and core gameplay loop are solid. I'm excited to see where this one goes!

Waddle In Time by gobos12 2022-10-04T03:19:13Z

Cool puzzle game! Couldn't finish it, but I got a good taste for the overlapping time elements, very thematic!

THE WORLD NEEDS BISCUITS! by PureImprov 2022-10-04T14:59:53Z

Your itch.io link appears to be broken. Looking forward to playing this when it comes up!

THE WORLD NEEDS BISCUITS! by PureImprov 2022-10-04T17:33:55Z

Thanks for letting us know it was fixed! Well worth coming back to. Fun concept backed by a fun simple story (and good timing, as it popped up just as I was eating a biscuit!) The soundtrack fits well, supporting the fairly relaxed feel of the first couple of levels, then juxtaposing it with the more hectic nature of later levels as the speed ramps up but the music remains obliviously relaxed. One small improvement would be to put some sort of counter on the screen as to either how many more humans you need to biscuit this level, or an indicator as to where they are. I was a bit lost early on when I thought I had fed everyone but didn't click in that I needed to move the screen for more HUMANS to biscuit. Overall, great concept, fun game!

Mages Arena by makar-ss 2022-10-13T19:16:46Z

I was surprised by the amount of depth and strategy there is in this simple looking game. I was surprised by the utter chaos that ensued the first time I teleported into the arena, and I got pretty salty at just how many kills the AI stole that first game. Enjoyed the gameplay very much, and would love to see what this would be like with sounds of all the wizards casting all the time.

Internal Business Struggle by SimonO 2022-10-07T14:03:46Z

So much to love about this game! While the humor is a little below the belt (heh), the game is well polished, understandable, very consistent in it's styling, and just ridiculously fun! Well done all around!

Natural Snek-lection! by Falk Hoeppner 2022-10-03T23:17:01Z

@sdelay There's biology and luck at play here. Hitting tab while playing will open up the Phenotype/Genotype breakdown, which may give you a clue as to what traits it is you are looking for. The Punnetts menu at the beginning will help out as well (and will fill in as you play!)

Natural Snek-lection! by Falk Hoeppner 2022-10-04T04:43:26Z

@caerul Sssshhhh! Don't tell anyone!

Natural Snek-lection! by Falk Hoeppner 2022-10-04T05:18:11Z

@zungryware Thank you so much for the feedback! I think you are spot on on all fronts. The 4x4 Punnett adds a lot of complexity as the game runs, especially in the first couple of run throughs. We added a Punnett reference on the main menu that fills out as you play so that players who had gone through the core game loop a couple of times would have unlocked those phenotypes and see them mapped to the genotypes in a static, not time bound place so that, should the player want to target a specific look for one of the secret endings, they could plan or get a feel for what the potential risk/reward balance is of any given mating pair. After that, the in-game tab was intended to both give you a list of traits you have or have not unlocked and to give you a cheat-sheet for in game reference.

During the jam we also considered pausing the game while the cheat-sheet is open. Do you think that would address the problem?

Natural Snek-lection! by Falk Hoeppner 2022-10-05T14:29:00Z

@eerongal I like to think of them as "burninators in the making". We had a absolute blast making this game, and we're glad you had fun playing it!

Natural Snek-lection! by Falk Hoeppner 2022-10-05T23:51:01Z

@jmad Gon' GIT! Thanks for playing and exploring our game! We're thrilled you had a good time!

@ryan-dotsikas Snek Snek Snek Snek! :snake: Thank you for the high praise!

@saxops1 Thanks for the feedback! We really really wanted to add stat modifiers in for things like speed and attractiveness, but time was not on our side for LD. We do intend to get that and the pause when opening the tab menu into the game soon.

Natural Snek-lection! by Falk Hoeppner 2022-10-06T13:02:45Z

@khadia I think you're right about the 2x2 probably being more fitting for the time window. We had considered the 2x2 initially, but wanted more variation of traits in the game than a 2x2 would offer. Using that for an intro level sounds like a phenomenal idea though, and the feedback that "the target is unclear" is a running theme for the next iteration. Thanks again for the feedback!

Natural Snek-lection! by Falk Hoeppner 2022-10-06T23:41:30Z

Thanks for the feedback @rawb ! Someone previously suggested doing an easier tutorial level to introduce the mechanics. Sounds like it might be a good idea to use that space to introduce the biology concepts we are utilizing as well?

Natural Snek-lection! by Falk Hoeppner 2022-10-11T02:59:14Z

@bqq YES! You got the vibe we were going for exactly! We had even planned to add in a droning biology lecture as background noise, but just didn't get around to it. Well done!

Natural Snek-lection! by Falk Hoeppner 2022-10-14T15:12:41Z

@lsy Thanks for your feedback! I hadn't considered the philosophical implications this game might portray. 10 seconds does make it more chaotic for sure. We had some grand ideas to implement stat changes with each trait like speed, attractiveness, etc, that might allow you to make more effective use of the short time each snek has in the world. Longevity might be another one we talk about if we do more work on this post jam.

Pillagers Plague by bcollins0000 2022-10-13T05:00:19Z

Great twist on a tower defense game. The revive really adds an extra element. Had a small bug where I would accidentally place a tower on top of the tower "shop" buttons and it would then make it impossible to see what tower I was selecting from then on because of the range circle. Other than that, some sound would add a lot to what is already a very solid game. Well done!

Poppy Birds by Sh4dUp 2022-10-04T23:50:49Z

Nice game! I enjoyed some of the back and forth the bird did, and the powerups where fun.

Heaven or Hell by Ryan Miller 2022-10-06T22:17:50Z

@ryan-miller @greenmat

Looking forward to playing this once the imbed works. Currently getting this error:

Failed to read the 'serviceWorker' property from 'Navigator': Service worker is disabled because the context is sandboxed and lacks the 'allow-same-origin' flag.

Wanderhythm by zhelding 2022-10-13T03:25:25Z

Very cool! The style changes are very well done, and the art is well done.

Break-New-Fast by Lsy 2022-10-13T18:50:59Z

It's an interesting concept, but I definitely struggled to figure out what to do at the beginning and how to do it, though I think that may have more to do with the imbedded version being very hard to use due to screen size constraints. I thought the story got really interesting, and I would love to see where this goes from here.

GRABOUL by mattguil 2022-10-07T17:52:50Z

Very nice! The rotation with the bullets works well, and I can see where this can get hectic as a party game, especially if you add interactions between the player (being able to push/pull each other around, change gravity outside the timer, cause more bullets to spawn, etc.). It's got a great vibe already, excited to see where this goes!

Flicker by oolimry 2022-10-13T05:12:23Z

I love this game! It's very simple and mechanically strong, and the story and aesthetic come together very well into a nicely polished package. The main thing I would help is a good intro and outro sound track. There is something about the silence as you play that is very fitting, but I think some audio "bookends" would be fitting, either surrounding each room or maybe just to the game as a whole. Absolutely one of my favorite submissions so far!

Platelet Commander by dandeliondino 2022-10-13T03:47:05Z

I love a good science game, and this one is very nice! Not sure how to win the game once I got the clots in place and upgraded, but its a very cool concept and I love this game.

Judge Absurdia by Kujoen 2022-10-13T17:38:27Z

What an absurdia game! Had a lot of fun with this one, it was funny and mechanically sound.

What's Under The Teapot? by thegamearchitect 2022-10-04T04:42:21Z

Very chill memory game. Would benefit from a classy soundtrack. I like that you fleshed out the space beyond the focal point of the game

LD53 — Delivery

Spaghetti Rails by milano23 2023-05-03T02:48:00Z

Really like the way the tracks are laid out. Had a hard time with the first couple of tries, but got through it eventually. The music was an excellent fit. Very nice overall!

Haul and Pray by Shess 2023-05-06T15:45:38Z

The art is phenomenal and the music and sound design really help set the tone of this game. Excellent all around, than you for sharing!

The Great Beer Robbery by PoshDan 2023-05-04T13:37:47Z

This was a fun and surprising challenge! Fun game with a simple and clear premise. That you had to choose between health and points was not something I worried about until I realized (all too late) that it was something I had to worry about lol.

Small side note, I very much appreciated the volume sliders on the main menu.

Baby Boom by Whirlwind 2023-05-04T21:19:49Z

I'm a huge sucker for rhythm games. I love this concept and execution, though it was a little weird having all of the controls on one hand. Would have preferred the keys split across both hands. Either was, this was way fun and I had a blast playing it. Thank you for making it!

deLIVERY by hwaet 2023-05-03T04:44:10Z

Fantastic! I actually had an idea like this on my initial list, but this is waaaaay better than what I was thinking. Very cool idea, hilarious and thematic writing, and the game was super fun once you learn the terminology. Maybe a glossary of terms would be helpful, though I enjoyed figuring out what was what. Super enjoyable game, thank you for making it!

Totally Legal Baby Delivery by Sassages 2023-05-05T17:26:57Z

I have been looking for this one since the post went up earlier on in the jam. Everything I dreamed it could be. This is easily my favorite game so far. Super fun and thematic, and overall a well put together package. This game made my day.

Popcorn Odyssey by 0X_VOID_X0 2023-05-04T14:00:00Z

What a fun and challenging puzzle game! Very good concept, very well executed. The art and gameplay are excellent.

Deliver Them From Sin by ugly_robot 2023-05-04T13:49:33Z

The controls take some getting used to, but it is clear that a lot of thought and love went into the character controller for this game. That paired with the animations for main character made for a very polished interaction with the game (even though it is ugly as sin :P)

Fulfillment by fargred 2023-05-05T17:02:33Z

Nice entry! The controls feel good and are intuitive, the gameplay is fun and engaging, and I think there's a lot of room to do more with this. I think the manager popping in to literally slow you down is a funny (and way too real) touch. The background/color/font combo is hard to read for my taste, and I found the audio feedback when you drop boxes into the slots inconsistent, and I wasn't sure if different sounds had different meanings. Overall this was a really fun game though, and I played multiple rounds, enough to get this very fitting high score: gameOver53.png

Thank you for making this game!

Fulfillment by fargred 2023-05-05T17:53:54Z

@fargred Do get a plaque in the breakroom for that? Also, it should be 53 in the leaderboard ;)

Rescue Rat by Sashalipatov 2023-05-04T13:27:03Z

I loved the music and art, they made for a very aesthetically enjoyable experience. The gameplay was limited but good.

Hungry Space Cat by Bitlytic 2023-05-03T02:29:23Z

Was a little scared to approach the black whole cat in the tutorial, but I'm glad he turned out to be pretty chill. Like the overall vibe of the game most of all, good blend of audio and visuals.

Mt. Deliverest by QwillaK 2023-05-03T03:21:55Z

Strong QWOP vibes on this one, but a really fun twist. Great combination of theme, visuals, and audio, really a cohesive package. Very well done!

Tracks 'n Bandits: Haulin' Cargo by Terquey 2023-05-04T13:15:58Z

The art style is very cohesive across the game and UI and it looks great! it definitely looks like some care was put into getting that smokestack juuuuuust right. The gameplay was fun and engaging, the audio was good and match the theme and style, overall a really good package. Great job!

Punchline! by Federyee 2023-05-04T21:34:35Z

Nice use of the theme and well done on your first finished game! It was good fun, and I enjoyed the multi-minigame approach. Thanks for making this!

Aspect Traveler by Benedict Ide 2023-05-05T21:27:33Z

I'm a big sucker for games like this. The amount and quality of the writing for this is very good, and it comes together in this enjoyable, cohesive product. Loved it!

Equilibrium. Delivery of emotions by abi.code16 2023-05-03T11:29:11Z

Great combo of art and music, made for a very chill mood. The could definitely use more gameplay, but the core idea is good.

LD55 — Summoning

Pact Factory by tukisboolukis 2024-04-22T16:27:14Z

Really well put together game! I had a blast with it, and I am super appreciative of the tutorial. Well done!

Ars Vocandi by abcdef65g 2024-05-01T01:39:48Z

I love this game. I'm a huge sucker for TCGs, so this is right up my alley. Mechanically, I think the card game is rock solid. Several other folks have provided a lot of feedback for the stuff outside the card game itself (menu options in general, tutorial, audio controls, layering, etc) and yeah, that stuff should be addressed, but don't let that get you down. This is easily my favorite game in LD55.

Waves of Chess by frozenfire92 2024-04-17T02:38:40Z

I love chess, and this is a really fun twist! Had a blast with this game, great submission!

Arcane Anagrams by edj99 2024-04-17T02:59:28Z

2063! The soundtrack is a banger, and you manage the transition back and forth between regular play and the danger zone really well. There's never any question of you status in the game. I would be nice to be able to see your score go up as you play, or to see the list of words you made along the way, but this is a great little package. Would play this as a mobile game for sure.

Summon the Courage by Yubs 2024-05-01T01:49:48Z

Took a few tries to get used to the flow of the game, but once you do, it's really clever and I really like it! We pitched this theme in our group too, glad someone else thought of it and ran with it! Really nice entry!

Dry Season by HolyPerceval 2024-04-17T02:48:07Z

This game is fire! Fun soundtrack, great tie in to the theme, inventive life counter in the villagers. Definitely my favorite submission so far!

Summonware by HelperWesley 2024-04-16T02:32:48Z

The art and audio are a fabulous combo, and very well executed! The minigames are fun and inventive. Overall a fabulous game!

Imagining Dragons by Falk Hoeppner 2024-04-22T16:12:02Z

@brogan-ward thanks for the feedback! In the Friend phase, the heart acts as a shared health bar, where the player hitting the boss fills it and the boss hitting the player drains it.

@sabasa Health bars on the blocks is a great idea! we will keep that in mind for future builds and games.

Rolling Ba'all by mathead 2024-04-30T23:57:17Z

The soundtrack was great, really kept the energy pumping. Overall, well done.

Evocation by kanity 2024-04-17T02:32:41Z

I love a good visual novel! This one was good fun, and you really nailed the suspenseful mood. I did run into an error right after picking up the wind scroll that caused a crash on my first play through, but the second time around was no issue. Great submission!

Evocation by kanity 2024-04-17T02:50:50Z

@kanity Hi! Yes, it was in the web version. I picked up the scroll, an error flashed across the top of the screen (i should have thought to grab a screenshot, sorry!), then the people engaged me and I could no longer interact.

The Salmoning by villhest 2024-04-17T03:06:15Z

I'm glad that pun made it into the jam! We are all better for it :D.

They Ran Out Of Flying Spells So Now I Summon Platforms by Gaverion 2024-04-24T19:43:35Z

A rhythm platformer without platforms? Very interesting idea that you can a definitely do a lot with, and I think the bones of what's here are really good.
