nice teapot
One of the few games in which 10 seconds feels too long, haha. It was a bit too easy
I expected some kind of escape the room game first! Have to say, it feels a bit slow and gameplay is not really a challenge
The graphics are nice but not really a game.
It works and the rules are almost from a classic game. I think this is nicely done in 48 hours. I, too, think it feels a bit too slow. 10 seconds is sometimes surprisingly long time.
The idea is a little weird, but I had fun trying it anyway. The graphic is really good in this game. I believe you have opt-out of most of rating by mistake. Anyway a okay little compo game.
I like the gloomy working men's club vibe and the creme egg poster. Quite spooky.
Good graphics and light. Some objects are too shiny. Add I can see the quad/triangles of the bottom of the teapot, it seems the light effect when you use light in vertex or not smoothed normals in the model. Screenshot 2022-10-03 at 13-23-39 What's Under The Teapot ldjam.com Ludum Dare game jam.png
Interesting idea. The issue is that my daughter always wins against me in such a memory games, so the joy was not there for me :) Some feedbacK - I managed to rotate the camera in a way that I was under the table and I had no idea how to go back - When I lost a life, I couldn't see how much I have left. - I did miss sounds. - I didn't know what's the end goal?
Besides these, congratulations for finishing a game! That's the hardest thing to accomplish.
Great teapot! Not a big fan of the default Unity UI and fonts, though, they make the game look more bland than it needs to.
I used the 10 sec to explore the room, it's nice that you spent some time on that too :p
Great assets, impressive that the whole scene was designed in such limited time. There really is no gameplay.
simple, and nice game, well done
I have no access to the linked itch.io page. Anyone else got that?
I've never played with a teapot sitting on figurines before!)
I like the nonsense idea with the teapot, but I also think the 10 seconds were a bit too long. In this case I think a more fast pace would benefit. Something like you choose when the teapot will move and you have a score of how many objects can you guess in 10 seconds? But all in all it was a good entry, great job! :D
This game idea is great. My kidΒ΄s would love it. Some of the other players has already pointed this out but the gameplay was a bit slow. The wait is OK when the teapot is covering the things as that makes it harder to remember what was on the table but the time between that I clicked to the response and the next round was to long. Overall a nice little game.
Graphics are nice, but some of the game pieces are hard to see what they are. Also, it would've been nice if the game skipped the rest of the 10 seconds when you select a piece and immediately told you if you got it right or wrong.
Good take on spot the difference. I like this type of game, and I don't see it often. The controls work well in general, however it was sometimes hard to click on items, since they were small, and the collider is smaller than the plate (I think). The camera slider is nice touch. Also nice art. The scene really sells the game.
I like the use of the theme in spot the difference, and I liked the setting the table is in, makes it cozy. Only feedback would be maybe exponentially increase the items at the start to ramp up the difficulty a bit
10 teapots from 10.
Pretty cool concept, the theme is well used. Plays pretty easy. The graphics, and especially the lightening, are generally gorgeous. The camera rotation is a great idea
Nice gameplay, cool use of the theme:) good entry, congrats!
I did not understand the principle... But the graphics are good.
I got "Well done for paying attention, you got 19 objects" and then all of a sudden it said "times up you lost a life" haha ^^
Fun game I enjoyed it :) the room behind the camera is very impressive I'm surprised you faced the camera away from it initially cos it looks so nice. And don't worry I won't tell anyone the trick that you can see what the next object is going to be by looking down the spout
When there have been 10 items, the game really starts. well done
Yo, sweet game. Great fit for the theme. I found the gameplay a bit slow. The wait time to hear if the choice was correct could have been removed. Especially because at the beginning the game is quite easy but still takes a lot of time because of the waiting. Overall nice idea and setting, and the camera movement was a really neat addition and a great way to fill the waiting time.
it's a bit slow, there's a lot of waiting, and I'd prefer a different camera control. Other than that, cute little game! Nice models and environment
I'll echo the sentiment of other players too, the 10" wait maybe is too long π besides that, it's a nice spin on the classic memory game genre, cool job =]
It's cute.
Like the others said, a little slow unfortunately, but otherwise a nice little game
Well done! Too slow, imo. A bit choppy, otherwise I enjoyed the unique concept, and selection of varied objects. Otherwise, good work!
A simple but fun memory game, but as others have pointed out, 10 seconds is a bit long. This game might have worked better with a different theme.
The game is a bit slow but I like memory games ^^ It could be nice to be able to rotate the camera with a mouse. And nice teapot :p
I really like the art style, great surroundings. I'd say 10 seconds is a bit long for a memmory part. Camera was also moving a bit slow, but it is a great start to a good looking game!
Not impressed, weird idea overall and it's too easy
A nice refreshing pallet cleanser after some of the more loud fast paced ld games I have been playing tonight. Good work.
Very chill memory game. Would benefit from a classy soundtrack. I like that you fleshed out the space beyond the focal point of the game
It took me a while to understand how the game really worked (I think I got a little confused with the camera control). But on a second try I managed to play.
The graphics are interesting, and I would say that you have in your hands a good prototype of a differentiated memory game. Good job!
Really nice and simple game that fits the theme! It does what it needs to do. I think it has the potential to do more if you were to keep going at it. The teapot is really funny though haha. like golf balls!? keys!? why are you here! One thing is that I started to notice that the new item's "circle" "base" "plate", whatever its called, is a slightly darker color than the others so at first I didn't really notice it but later on I was like, oh I can tell this is the new one cause the circle is darker. Haha! But pretty chill game! I like that its chill :) Good job!
Cool idea! I had a bit of trouble learning how to play. At first, I thought I was supposed to be looking for one of the paintings in the background or the water glass on the table to change. I was quite shocked when I learned the teapot was the thing blocking my view. I had assumed it would go to a black screen to hide the view from the player. And I was even more shocked when I saw that the only items I was supposed to be memorizing were the ones beneath the teapot!
I like how you developed the whole room. Game pacing is a little slow. But I can see where the game is going.
I also found the challenge to be a bit lacking. One thing you could do to make it more difficult is to shuffle the objects each time the teapot covers them.
Got it working. Game assets look nice. I don't know about the timer, I think it could count down from 10 and repeat. It was quite at the edge of the screen as well.
I agree with others that the pace could be slightly faster. No real reason to wait for feedback after guessing (unless there is anticipating drums or something to enhance the experience). I feel the game could start with multiple objects already at the table and moving them around could give a nice little boost to the difficulty.
Camera movement is nice, but I didn't feel you need it really.
Nice work.
This game is truly great, love the Utah teapot and Suzanne making an appearance, along with other familiar test models that have been used in computer graphics for a very long time. It felt like a trip down memory lane. Pun intended! Test your memory, why not? In all seriousness, I think this sort of game could be used as a therapy tool for people suffering from memory loss. Easygoing exercises like this can help a lot. Thanks for your kind comments, and well done creating such a cohesive and relaxing submission. In some games, 10 seconds feels like it comes so quickly. In this game you really get to sit and rest and look at some nifty 3D models while contemplating tea and computer graphics history. I think that's great. Thanks!
Pretty impressive as a compo submission. I couldn't imagine trying to make all those assets in such a short period of time. Good take on a classic.
It might be more fun to have a lot of differences at once to compare, and make the camera move a bit faster.
This is way to easy especially as the objects don't move.
Really easy - would be nice if you could "submit your choice", There needs to be some distractions to make it harder.
Nice teapot though - well done on submitting!
@jaker - an excellent idea, @phillip-scott like jaker said, perhaps also by animating the pieces or having some minitures running around? Definately food for though. @astrydax Thanks! I have really put together a few years of slow learning, many things which used to take days I have memorised and can model and texture very quickly, it just took a few thousand hours(realtime) in blender. @jjbug Im glad you appreciated it! I recently did a deep dive into VFX/graphics lead by ILM/Starwars/GeorgeLucas and was surprised to see how much digital tech/graphics/vfx tricks exist because of star wars! It really changed how i look at 3d objects and helped me to improve on VFX. @theseusinabottle @vphyre Im glad you liked it.
I like the quirky idea of hiding objects with a teapot in some kind of 70s dining room complete with Mondrian painting. It is essentially a memory game (which is fine by me) however I found it very easy because the newly added item always had a darker green base than the previously added items. Not sure how or why that's the case for me as no one else seems to have mentioned it, so I guess it only happens on my browser/machine. Overall, well done!
it seems that there is some hidden message in the wall paintings... take a closer look...
Unfortunately I think the timer isn't syncing with the changes. Also because after each new addition the older items aren't shuffled and the new item has different tint to it, it makes the gameplay less about memorizing and more about just looking for different colored pedestald and clicking it.
Good job with 3D models for a solo jam, but the gameplay was quite lacking.
I clear concept, but after about 400 seconds my interest had steadily waned to the point where a 'you lose' screen was more welcoming than the 'correct' screen. It would have helped if there was no waiting time between selecting which item was new and the 'correct' screen, I think.
The camera controls were an interesting choice, but I'm not sure it was really needed. Holding right-click and moving around seemed like a more intuitive approach to me.
All in all not bad, but I wish there was more to do for the player.
I like the variety of little figures!
I would like to know how much time I have left before the teapot is moved.
great solo effort in 48, the assets were good!! main feedback was that the camera was too slow to turn, and I found the objective a little confusing to begin with. Felt I needed to be doing more due to the time limit, but appreciate that was the theme!
Hmm, maybe 10 seconds is too long to test short term memory, maybe add more tasks than staring at the teapot to make the game more challenging? or switch up the position of the items to make it more interesting. Overall felt a little slow, but for a solo jam this was some solid effort!
It's a fun idea, but I have to agree with the others that 10 seconds is a bit too long in this case. Originally I thought I would have to find an item added to the room, and use the camera rotation to find that item. I think in that case 10 seconds would be a good amount of time to do so. You did put a lot of detail in the room, so I used the extra time to look around a bit! It looks really nice, good job overall!
Totally fits the theme, and is definitely an original idea! Since the 10 seconds feels a bit long for the task, could you put some additional detail in the room every time the player has a chance to look around? You could even build up a narrative using e.g. posters?
It'd be better if you reset the timer after every 10 seconds so that we can't see how much time we spent playing. It's nice to have good-looking game, but in this case it seems like an overkill.
Really nice test of memory, it was simple and easy to understand but maybe a little bit slow. I liked the camera controls :)
Error 418: I am a teapot. (i'm joking)
Fun little game, moves a little slow, though, waiting for the time to elapse for it to move back and forth. Great job, however!
Hey, good little game, I enjoyed playing it. I remembered 16 items before losing. Obviously you used the 10-second limitation, but it feels a bit slow to wait for 10 seconds and then another 10 seconds to finish - perhaps if you got immediate feedback when choosing the new object instead of having to wait another 10 seconds, it would be better. I did not see a "life" indicator (but I might had missed it). I think it's a creative take on the theme and a good submission as a concept. I noticed the time got a bit out of sync, although I couldn't pin down exactly what caused the issue (but time at the start and end should be multiples of 10, right? could it be the additional time it takes to display "Correct" message?) Also, the camera rotation is a bit slow, albeit I only needed to do it once at the beginning (I used the top-down view) and did not find use to rotate it again. A leaderboard would be amazing to encourage competition with other people. Congrats!
Managed to get to 17 objects. It was getting crowded under the teapot towards the end!
Interesting game, but its too easy. I think it's a bug but, the new piece that appears, appears in a darker color, so it's easy to tell which one is the new one. Anyway, nice job!
The idea is good and could be extended on - because the gameplay felt too slow. The graphics though would fit well this kind of game!
Good game, I think making it a little bit more fast paced would benefit it though. Good Job
Cool game! I wish there was some UI to indicate the 10 seconds and that I could click on the actual object instead of just it's base. Overall well done!
Game is a little bit too slow for me, played for over 3 minutes and had only guessed around 7 items. But still its always good to get something playable and working during a 48 jam so great job :)
Neat game. Not so original, but it fits the theme, and is executed well.
I haven't tried, but it looks like the game supports mobile. If that's the case, that's super cool!
It's a little bit too slow for me. I could play for 300 seconds first time without failing. I like to think that I could do better if I play a bunch of rounds, but I'm not going to try :/
Maybe it would be nice to put the teapot back immediatley when the player clicks an item? That could make the game faster (without ditching the 10-second criteria).
Cool game! A simple concept but made really well! People calling this slow just have too short attention spans :D Now that's a big teapot :) Graphics look really good too!
Nice idea, I didn't think about memory game
Interesting game idea I think it was a little slow for my liking but cant do anything about the ten second timer lol. The graphics look quite nice.
i liked the game a lot, it was somewhat slow but i enjoyed it
The game was confusing at first, but the gimmick is interesting. I think that the teapot should reveal the items quicker, so that every 10 seconds the scene is set up with a new one in order to minimize the time where the player isn't really playing anything. Was also confused as to why the camera gimmick existed, but didn't mind so much since it was fun to play around with.
Nice entry! original concept and good implementation of the theme, i get 6 objects correct but sometimes was confusing with similar items, donΒ΄t know if it was intentional, need some sound effects, cool camera movement and graphics, nice job!
Simple concept hard te remember :). Evertying looks real nice props for that.
I liked the detail in the room, like the paintings and chalk board on the walls!
I don't know if it is a bug or what but the newly added object always has a darker base so it's very easy to identify.
Good concept, very original. It would be nice if we could move the camera a little more!
Simple but fun
It's a nice entry, although I would've liked the early game to be sped up a little more.
Simple but nice! Good visuals and smooth camera movement.
In this case I think the theme was your enemy, because 10 seconds slow the pace a little.
Kind of easy but neat. I liked that you could look around the environment. Gave me a chill vibe. I think adding music and sounds would add a lot. Good job.
Nice Models und good to see my girl Suzanne
Intriguing idea, and it looks really great.
It looks cool! I like the gameplay core and the graphics. But it need an audio, think, with it this game will be much more immersive!)
Well done, the game is easy to understand and fun. However, it is a little slow, especially at the beginning.
what's under the Teapot? it it hard work, fun game and nice concept!
I think it's an interesting concept, and as far as memory games go it's a decent game. Only feedback I can give is to have a way of telling how many lives you have left, plus maybe having some background music, although it's always better to have a game with no music, as opposed to having no game at all. Graphics look good, it did get a bit harder to memorize everything at the end, but it could really benefit from having multiple items be added per round, at least in the later game.
Good job! -Peter
Nice game, unique style and mood and a fun and simple concept. A little sound or visual effect or some satisfying juice would have been nice here to get some more validation and motivation to keep playing
Nice game. I do think the new item has a slightly different bottom color as the others which gives it away. If the locations of the previous items gets randomized every turn the game would have been way more challenging. Good job on all those graphics though.
Cool approach to the theme. The game looks really good and I like how you setup the controls. Nice work!
I would've preferred to have the timer to reset every ten seconds. Otherwise, nice game!
Great submission! The 3D arts are solid, kuddos for that!
I am impressed how you managed time for compo. It is great submition, I love this style
Other than the feedback already mentioned by the other players, I think it's a good submission for compo. The concept fits the theme but I think it might have been overkill to do the whole room haha. Otherwise, great work!
Nice job with this! I love a good memory game and I like how you made it in 3D, especially with the ability to spin the camera around and look at things from all angles. I definitely would've liked it to move a bit faster earlier on when it was easier, but obviously the jam theme restricts that to 10s. Great job though!
Hey, thanks for making the game! I played through it and recorded my thoughts.
https://youtu.be/Wszp7hM16cs
Nice work. The pacing felt too slow though, a few indicators to show what's happening would be nice. with some polish I can see this being quite good.
Tha rt is pretty great! ππ»ππ»ππ»
I liked the tea in the game.
