LD51 — Every 10 seconds

The Game Ends by smilewood 2022-10-03T03:31:02Z

Hey I'm a sucker for clicker games and this is exactly that but on speed. I chuckled at the title since hey, it's exactly what it says on the tin! (Especially after reading the retrospective, I think this is an awesome swerve!)

Tentris by bentglasstube 2022-10-03T03:02:49Z

Loved this. Big Tetris fan and I'm already thinking of how strategy varies. Whether you hold on to bricks for a bit, it makes you slow down a bit when playing. Really great and can see myself coming back for more

Base Defense by pvg 2022-10-03T19:48:28Z

Love a good tower defense, and this is a great split of your brain figuring out what to concentrate on. It starts to feel a bit overwhelming(ON PURPOSE) but always rides that fine line of controlled chaos. Can see this being a good springboard to future features. The ONLY thing I would say is the enemy creeps seem a bit fast, but I also understand that adds into the tension by design

A Space Polka in Ten Parts by eerongal 2022-10-03T16:28:02Z

I absolutely loved this! Everything from the intro, the font, ease of seeing what was going on based on the color stations matching the meters...had a blast. Especially got a kick out of a certain jump that added more pieces to the map. Very very well done, and the music fit the hectic nature. Would love to see this expanded and fleshed out more to a full release!

Sprawl: A cyberpunk interactive graphic novel by m11 2022-10-03T18:23:28Z

This is an awesome experiment. Would agree about choice would be nice earlier on, but I was so fascinated looking at the art that I didn't mind. Could see this evolve further into it's own subgenre in the near future

Ten Second First Dates by Rose 2022-10-03T14:36:09Z

I love the art style! Really nice style and a good use of emoji, super smart. Really makes you feel those 10 seconds, quite the brain teaser and I had a really good time! Thanks for a fun game!

Deadly DIving by Gildar76 2022-10-03T04:17:43Z

This is a good take on the theme, practical and you're always feeling the clock on your back. Had a good time with it!

Dimension Clicker by Dr_V 2022-10-03T04:40:57Z

Took me a few rounds to figure out what was going on but I really enjoyed the journey of discovery. Always fun to click and see more options show up, good use of the theme!

Destroy Blocks by mdotedot 2022-10-03T17:52:58Z

Looove different takes on Tetris, and this is a great idea. Really loved it, plus the sound design was great and artstyle made it easy to follow. Only thing is I had a discrepancy between where my mouse cursor was and the block, but I got used to it really fast. Great job!

10 seconds or less by DrunkardWolf 2022-10-03T02:59:19Z

This was awesome, the fact this was done in 48 hours is amazing. Really enjoyed the developer time popping up over the end of level, gave incentive to go back and try again. Fun replay, and a nice bite sized bit of speedrunning!

GLUB? by DJTequila 2022-10-07T13:47:47Z

I really liked this, it's a fun take on that qwop style gameplay and just when I would get used to the controls, the game became fresh again. The simplicity of the graphics and music fit really well too, good entry!

DODGE! CATCH! DESTROY! by Solah 2022-10-07T13:50:22Z

This is a perfect fit with the theme, reminded me of a simpler version of the WarioWare games. Music was perfect as well, just a good, fun game!

KindergARTen by benskca 2022-10-03T17:24:16Z

This is a super cute idea! Great visuals for it and 'story', I have to say I think I'm a better finger painter in your game than I am in real life, even then I felt fear for being expelled! Exquisite! (and top notch voice acting)

Oasis Escape by Zerbu 2022-10-03T17:20:09Z

I think it's really good, especially for a first time submission! The art style reminded me of some ps1/flash era platformers, so it had a cool throwback feel. Jumping was a liiitle hard to see where you were going to land, but maybe shadows or some other ground indicator could help with that. Overall a great submission for a fellow first timer!

The CyberZapper by Vhalenn 2022-10-03T16:35:00Z

Really liked the artwork and atmosphere! Cool idea with having to teleport around, and I enjoyed the bit of grace period where you can stay while the screen starts burning away as a visual reminder to zapp

Lab Rat by fnelix 2022-10-03T17:48:29Z

I like the concept quite a bit, and I saw what you were going for with the camera but I think it could probably be a fixed angle and be alright. I like how it was a slowed down version of overcooked, good submission!

110% by SciDev 2022-10-03T03:46:27Z

REALLY love the formulae and other symbols so integrated into the game. Really flashy but also still easy to follow. Loved the controlled chaos feel

Cadet Set Go by MrWarranty 2022-10-03T03:52:42Z

I would agree with reverse tower defense as well, really enjoyed how it's sort of setting up your own difficulty. Main feedback given from me would be a couple placements are rough and required some super smart inputs right as the 'run through' portion started, maybe lowering turrets down to get a buffer in would ease the player in at the start. Really great go for a fellow first timer!

Asteroids: Driving Home by Rokevicius 2022-10-03T04:35:02Z

The idea alone is mind blowing and really takes me back to the times before I was lucky enough to have a Game Boy light attachment that took way too many batteries. The aesthetic is just *chef's kiss* and the spin on the theme is friggin awesome. Great job!

Chernobyl by Robert Li 2022-10-07T13:55:49Z

Atmosphere and art style are really good! The gameplay was simple but took me a few seconds to understand exactly what was going on, really simple and makes you think faster after you understand the gameflow. A bit difficult, but also....that's the point :P Would love to play an expanded version!

Shifting Dungeons by APG 2022-10-03T18:09:27Z

Art and sound design were great, especially when hitting space, I had fun hearing that ghostly boing noise every time. A fun little survival game!

Nuke Yourself to Alpha Centauri! by Josh Roby 2022-10-03T03:10:41Z

The UI alone..just in love. Saw this in development on Twitter and excited to see the submitted game! Took a bit to understand what was going on, but then it clicked and I really enjoy it, very unique premise too

ShipIt! by Joey Van Lierop 2022-10-03T04:26:49Z

Super cute art style and music, colors are so pleasing to look at. The animations are great, and it feels like I just had essence of Stardew injected into my veins while Tom Nook is on a boat with a baseball bat in his hands waiting on his delivery. I will say it's pretty difficult in the first go around, but I really enjoyed it. Sending the link to a few people who I know will love this. Very well done!

Poker Blitz by dan-whiffing 2022-10-03T03:55:17Z

This is a fantastic idea. My brain had a delay of about one second as it just took in all the cards on the screen and how I wanted to physically mix them some more to be a nuisance. Really fun and awesome concept, will echo the call of wanting to play this online or in person now

Time To Live: 10 by Lancival 2022-10-03T03:44:14Z

Took me a bit to understand the battery switch, but when I did I really enjoyed it! Really like mechanics where you use time to help solve puzzles, and this fits perfectly.

Did have a couple collision issues where I would get stuck to the side of platforms, but other than that I enjoyed it and would love to see it fleshed out given more than just 48 hours!

Modern Post by Holy_Doggo01 2022-10-03T17:43:50Z

This is a fun concept and fast puzzler! Really satisfying to get the packages in the correct pattern, especially for the animation afterward. Like how the packages snap to the grid when you drop them, the only thing I would suggest is maybe having the square below highlighted just to make it a tiny bit clearer which square it's going to land on. Fun game!

Yo, Listen! by Trabasura 2022-10-03T03:15:03Z

I don't get the reference.

For real though I laughed at the loop, and a very very good premise for the theme.

Lighthouse by rickylee 2022-10-03T17:58:18Z

This was SO GOOD! The style and atmosphere was absolutely breathtaking, especially loved the detail of lightning flashes giving you some small hints between the set timer. Loved it, thank you for a great game and really impressive this was made in the timeframe!

Edit: I'm just keeping this up in the background now for the storm noise. So cozy

Sprint10 by Ben Parisi 2022-10-03T04:29:41Z

The graphics are AMAZING. Love that aesthetic and it just really calls back to some early 3d games with a modern coat of paint. Liked how tightly it was tuned, though some of the platforms were a bit hard to stay on with the controls being so snappy. Overall really really fun, thanks for a great experience!

LoopTown by Pandamander 2022-10-03T04:46:34Z

I liked this! Bite sized puzzle where there's some memorization but once you start to see more of the story, you can piece together what you need to do. Loved the use of the theme!

🌙 Night Shift by Puree Adventure 2022-10-03T04:32:51Z

This is a really cute concept, and the artstyle is just lovely. The colors all blend together to really add to the scene. Took a bit to realize the paper stops movement, but this adds to the difficulty and I really enjoyed it. Even had fun just throwing pizza at the wrong people, oops.

SKY ROBOT QUANTUM ECHO by Bosco 2022-10-03T03:18:07Z

Really really love this concept of your past selves helping you. The music is great with it too, just enough but fits the aesthetic perfectly. Awesome work, would definitely play more!

Cat Jam by Frib 2022-10-03T04:13:49Z

I was ready to just peek in and suddenly I'm lost in the vibe of the music and atmosphere. Absolutely loved this, and never got stuck on the security code puzzles long, just enough hints in there. Really loved this, fantastic job and....who needs their hand anyway?

You vs. the clock featuring the narrator by ljg 2022-10-03T18:12:22Z

I really like the concept of having to develop a character in 10 seconds, and I liked the humor of the game quite a bit! I did lose track of how much time I had left, and with the text scrolling it might have taken up too much time for waiting. Maybe having the text instantly show up along with the options, or fiddling with the layout might make it a bit snappier? Really good take on the theme!

Pillagers Plague by bcollins0000 2022-10-03T16:40:29Z

Really love this idea of each creep wave being a double dip. The enemy sprites were fantastic and I had a great time!

Square in 10 seconds or less by Caresle 2022-10-03T03:28:11Z

Really like bite sized platforming levels, super satisfying to just 'ready go' and shoot towards the goal. Liked the tileset as well!

What's Under The Teapot? by thegamearchitect 2022-10-03T14:33:54Z

I like the use of the theme in spot the difference, and I liked the setting the table is in, makes it cozy. Only feedback would be maybe exponentially increase the items at the start to ramp up the difficulty a bit

Blobbbert: 10 Second Navigator by Xorel 2022-10-03T03:33:27Z

@trabasura Thanks! Totally just ran out of time, especially since I spent more time building up an easy way to churn out levels...only for time to be up. Waffled on doing that for the jam category, but I challenged myself to finish in 48 hours. Thanks for trying it out!

Blobbbert: 10 Second Navigator by Xorel 2022-10-03T04:48:06Z

@joey-van-lierop Oh the ideas in my head for pitfall traps...multiple floors..enemies that have patterns to memorize... I'm excited to get some rest then build on this for the near future

Blobbbert: 10 Second Navigator by Xorel 2022-10-03T06:17:04Z

@haydads Should be good now, for some reason it flipped back to private. Sorry about that, and it also is embedded here on this LD page just in case

Blobbbert: 10 Second Navigator by Xorel 2022-10-03T11:50:34Z

@henrik-ganard Hardcore mode sounds like it might be a thing in the post LD additions!

Blobbbert: 10 Second Navigator by Xorel 2022-10-03T13:34:06Z

@pvg I waffled on that last level, especially since before the last level there was going to be a ramp up on that. Excited to keep refining it going forward, and thanks for playing!

Blobbbert: 10 Second Navigator by Xorel 2022-10-04T05:15:59Z

@matt-green Thanks for the feedback! Besides wishing I had more time for more levels, the other feature I was close to wrapping up planning stages was a scoring system of some kind to prevent exactly that kind of slow movement. It's an interesting problem that got deeper the more I thought about it, do I have a set score for each level and does each step lower it? Do I instead lower it for extra 10 second cycles to push for speed? It was a fascinating problem that I couldn't solve in time and is the top thing I'm excited to tackle for my continued work.

Oh and I so wanted squish music too, alas my lack of experience making music made me finally just go with a bouncy/metronome sound lol. Again thanks for the great feedback, I really appreciate it!

Blobbbert: 10 Second Navigator by Xorel 2022-10-05T01:01:10Z

@mikoziq Thanks for playing and the feedback! Definitely wanted to have a ramp up of difficulty up to the end level, buuuuut didn't have time so it just slaps you with a spike of unfairness lol. Already been adding some more levels since submissions ended!

You and Floor by Climbing Dolphin 2022-10-03T16:21:36Z

Really like this take on the theme where the world changes. Also a good way to make the player adapt to their environment. Bamboo seemed a bit sticky, but that was the only issue I had. Also enjoy how theres multiple paths through the level

Zombie Bomb 10 by Sparkinex 2022-10-03T03:58:29Z

Cool concept! At first was thinking this is a bit easy...then realized I didn't have a force field ready to go. Great base if you wanted to develop this idea further!
