The UI alone..just in love. Saw this in development on Twitter and excited to see the submitted game! Took a bit to understand what was going on, but then it clicked and I really enjoy it, very unique premise too

Not quite sure how to play. Looks interesting. Can you add some instructions to this page??

The targeting levers didn't seem to work on Firefox, but when I switched to Edge the framerate increased and all the controls worked. Very complex, but a super cool concept! I love sci-fi and the theoretically possible, so this is an awesome thing to see at a game jam. Absurdly intricate for something made in only 48 hours!

I was entertained, but the steering levers didn't work for me so I was at the whims of the drifting. I wish I was in this timeline...

I like it! ^^ I got flight time 5:56 with the easy ship, is it possible to make it to the end? I'll have another go if so, otherwise that's my best time.

The only problem I really had was with my mouse clicks highlighting text all the time haha, especially when coating the plates. fun game! :)

What a cool game concept. I liked the simulator-feel of it. I lacked the tutorial/instructions-screen and the steering did not work for me neither but owerall a fun experience. Thanks for making this game =)

As a fellow astronomy/cosmology nerd, I love this concept and that introduction text is quite funny in my opinion.

However, I must say the controls were not very intuitive, and I never figured out how to steer (from what I read in other comments, it's broken in Firefox).

Same comment than for the others. The levers do not seem to work (or maybe I just haven't found how to make them work). And the text selection when trying to click on things was a bit distracting but other than that it's a pretty cool game showcasing a cool concept.

Good game. The steering worked in the opposite direction to what I expected but I felt I had it working and the plate coating/swapping as well. I was unsure what to do with the damage/fire on the schematic side. Would also have liked an indication on the game over screen of why the rocket failed.

Interesting game, took me a little to understand how subsystems interact but in the end I think you did a pretty good job at making all of them useful and at making the player feel the pressure in having to prioritize them. A little thing that threw me off in the beginning is that things that are clickable (buttons and the like) have no way of being recognized other that clicking on them and checking if something happens: this could be easily improved with something as simple as a slight change in color or something like that.

Same thing everyone else said about Firefox vs Chrome on the controls. Had to full-screen the game to get the interface up to a reasonable size for reading text. Overall it's a pretty cool game concept, but the controls don't do it justice.

The biggest hurdle I hit is that controls are pretty ambiguous until you hit spacebar. The instructions on the pause menu are super helpful. I think it would be a pretty big quality of life improvement to start the game paused after selecting the ship. Easy to dismiss if you already know what you're doing, and ensures first-time players see the instructions.

Other than that, I don't want to comment too much on the controls themselves. I have little doubt that a lot of effort was put into getting the controls to the state that they're currently at on such a short time scale. One thing that does stand out is that the targetting levers reset. Is there an important reason for that? It feels pretty weird that everything else remains static between detonations, but that one thing resets.

Pretty cool! I liked having a bunch of stuff to balance. My interface often got a bit hung up (kept getting the navigation sliders stuck thinking I was still dragging the mouse after I let go, sometimes had text getting selected when I did something resembling a double-click), but it wasn't game-breaking. Game over screen often disappeared before I realized the game was over, let alone had a chance to read why it ended. The tile plating bit of the game was weirdly satisfying =).

So many of my favourite things packed together into one game, Space Travel (and Project Orion in particular), an immersive interface with components (!) and power transfer (!!) and an animated pusher plate (!!!). The only thing I could say I was missing was sound, truly feeling the power of the bomb and a few warnings would be absolutely amazing. Great game! :D

I wasn't able to finish the game, but nonetheless it was quite interesting. I like the concept and how innovative it is. Well done.

I started it and watched it, ca's I didn't know what to do. By coincidence I pressed space and I understood the idea. I like the concept a lot as a sci-fi fan, but the levers were stuck.

deepfreeze 2022-10-19 10:05

Can't say I was expecting a game based off of Project Orion, but it absolutely needs a manual. Took me a while to figure out what I could press, but I still veered off course, and could not figure out how to get back on course. The game also doesn't run very smoothly for me for some reason. Awesome concept, but absolutely needs instructions. If the red levels are supposed to work; they don't.

lachlan-james 2022-10-19 10:32

Loved what I could get through of it - but as with other reviews, a manual/video guide/something would be huge. I'm sure there are things about this that I wasn't able to figure out, and I would love to have gotten deeper into it.

aligator 2022-10-19 17:03

Very interesting game and idea, but it took some time and experimentation to get into it. I like it :-)
