LD46 — Keep it alive

MÄHBÄHRT by tomdeal 2020-04-20T17:21:11Z

Great game though I think I would have personally prefered it without the recharging mechanic, turning it into more of a peaceful lawnmowing simulator. :D

Chrashsite by axelrinaldo 2020-04-20T12:56:18Z

@jsec Yeah, I realized I had set the resource values a bit too high when I did my final playtest but I didn't have the time to change it, a reduction of those would probably tighten up the gameplay a bit.

@munkkeli Great feedback, making a button based UI would probably have been a good idea, the amount of number pressing options got a bit out of hand... The movement is also clunky as you say, following @refsa 's suggestion and making it mouse-based would probably have been smoother.

@cryptomnesic Good idea, that would probably have made the axe swings feel weightier. I'll try to think more about visual feedback in future games.

@despiciestboi I... don't know how I hadn't thought of that. That is absolutely going on my ideas list, thanks!

@tomdeal Ah, yes, I forgot to consider the ergonomical problems of the axe swinging mechanic. :D Glad you enjoyed it!

Chrashsite by axelrinaldo 2020-04-20T13:08:43Z

@arcus Thanks for the feedback! The art really could use a lot of work, my own terrible art skills were amplified by the thought "I'll just fix it up later". Of course there was no later. The music is a similar deal, I actually made an entirely different track but it didn't fit the gameplay at all so I threw together what can be heard in the game very quickly. It fits the game better but I unfortunately didn't have the time to make it very long or varied.

@rustyrobotgames Yeah, it turns out I have a really poor perception of what a tree looks like from above. :D Thanks for the feedback!

@congusbongus Yeah, it was supposed to be a much shorter game but I both went a bit overboard with the amount of upgrades and the resource cost for each of them. I'll have to remember this valuable lesson for LD47.

Chrashsite by axelrinaldo 2020-04-20T13:18:13Z

@steelysam Ah, yes, those ironworks do eat fuel fast. Maybe a bit excessivly so... I'm glad you thought it was interesting enough to complete!

@bongo227 Glad you enjoyed it! I agree that the movement really would have benefitted from some more work. I also would have liked to add a specific chainsaw sound if only time had allowed me to.

@pincushion It makes me so happy to hear you appreciated it! :) I really should take an art course in preparation for the next Ludum Dare. Or make a text based game, that might also work. :D

Control Room by jsec 2020-04-20T13:36:38Z

What a lovely innovative take on the theme. Great art, music and gameplay, my only problem is that I didn't quite understand how the solid fuel tank was operated.

The Heart Pieces by Sticmac 2020-04-20T12:37:01Z

What a brilliant puzzle game, especially how you had to do a few trial runs to figure out the map layout on the last level. I wish it had more levels to complete.

Sci-Fi Lumber by munkkeli 2020-04-20T13:49:05Z

The dual-purpose beams is a really great and innovative concept. The difficulty curve was also splendid, I could really feel myself being slowly overwhelmed. :D

Last Fortress Left by ConnorThompson 2020-04-20T13:40:56Z

I love the style and concept. Some sounds and music might be nice and of course, as everyone has already said, more difficult levels. :)

Peculiar Farming by Arcus 2020-04-20T17:37:56Z

That is the best music I've heard in a game yet, great job!

Fuzzle by Refsa 2020-04-20T13:59:22Z

The beeping increasing in frequency as the fuse gets closer to burning out is a brilliant feature. Really stressful and fun game!

Frost & Fire by Cryptomnesic 2020-04-20T14:14:58Z

Lovely retro graphics, especially the night and dawn waves.

The 24th Century Surgeon by DeSpiciestBoi 2020-04-20T17:09:01Z

If this is how medicine will look in the future then sign me up for a time machine! Really fun game once I figured out that you had to click the top of the notepad to hide it. :D

Keep Your Rage Alive! by cateye 2020-04-20T14:06:04Z

Fun game! I really like how every object has its own destruction sound, it adds a lot to the destruction experience.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Train Wars by Lintfordpickle 2020-10-06T22:12:24Z

Really nice little game! The train sprite at the top of the screen looks amazing. 5 minutes felt like a tiny bit too drawn out though, something more like three would have been better in my uneducated opinion. :)

Loophole by louis-denizet 2020-10-06T21:42:15Z

Great audio, atmosphere and very zen-like gameplay. My only criticism is the lack of checkpoints, getting annoyance mixed in with all the zen was not something I was expecting. :D

Goblin Alchemist by James Dunlap 2020-10-09T22:05:44Z

As a person who is not typically easily scared I am surprised, somewhat pleasantly, at the absolute terror I felt when I saw the undead run towards me for the first time. Amazing game!

Loopy Flight by Macmist 2020-10-09T20:59:45Z

Great take on the theme (though I may just be saying that since I had the same)! The height of the skyline might be a tad too aggressive though. :D

Blind Faith by sohakes 2020-10-06T23:12:31Z

Really nice interpretation of the theme! And absolutely lovely cutscenes! A health bar would have been nice though, but maybe that's just me being overly traditional with UI. :)

Last Command by GettingRekt 2020-10-10T00:07:54Z

I absolutely love this take on the theme (though that it has some similarities with my own may help with that)! And that engine cutoff sound effect gives this game a great score in humour.

The Looping Legend by PronomicalArtist 2020-10-05T13:42:53Z

I see we had the same take on the theme, very good!

Amazing graphics and fun gameplay, though a bit too hard for my mediocre skills.

One thing I'd like to comment on though is that the crosshair is a bit hard to spot, I didn't even notice it until I'd already died a couple of times. :)

ORBIDRONE by bixarrio 2020-10-06T21:21:27Z

Really wonderful concept! That the icons and resource numbers didn't update in the maintinance menu did cause me a moment of confusion but considering the limited time I understand that there probably wasn't enough time to fix that. :)

Age of Amperes by JHax 2020-10-06T22:41:42Z

Absolutely lovely game! Played through the entirety of it and it was all very enjoyable. The only negatives I have are quality of life things like a "Next Level" button and possibly a button to fast forward the game that you can use after you've made a correct solution to skip the wait.

Evo Battle by Arthur Silva 2020-10-09T23:07:29Z

Great art, sounds and music and very chill gameplay, though it got quite hectic near the end. Though if you want my feedback I'd advice making the eras just slightly shorter, they felt a bit drawn out at times.

Orbitoor by omnes ludos 2020-10-06T22:18:50Z

My hours of playing Kerbal Space Program have finally been useful! Love the orbital mechanics! The asteroids always coming from the top of the screen did make it a bit hard to avoid them when you were at the top point of your orbit though.

Fire in time by leggy 2020-10-06T22:54:24Z

Fun little game, though I am absolutely terrible at it. :D The placement of the walls was a bit wonky at times but nothing too game breaking.

Space Loop by IndivisibleParticles 2020-10-06T22:45:34Z

It may be simple but that does not make it less enjoyable. Flappy Bird became a worldwide hit after all and this game has better graphics. :D

Little Orbit by CurdleGames 2020-10-06T23:03:11Z

Nice little game! Amazing music, good art and a really satisfying fire animation. The aiming sensitivity was just slightly too high for me though.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Wall of Red String by PTSnoop 2021-05-14T22:56:42Z

What an amazingly original idea! I absolutely loved it though I have learned that I am as terrible at sorting out these tangles as my tangled up headphones, haha. The only thing I missed was a satisfying tack sound effect. :D

Tiefenmesser by axelrinaldo 2021-04-26T10:33:58Z

@verygenuinecraze Glad you liked it! Rebalancing all the speeds make it a bit more pleasant experience was on the to-do list, unfortunately 48 hours go by way too quickly. :D

Tiefenmesser by axelrinaldo 2021-04-26T10:38:38Z

@bw-devel Accuracy points are a great idea! Why didn't I think of that? And torpedoes do indeed reload a bit too quickly. Thank you for the feedback and glad you liked it!

Tiefenmesser by axelrinaldo 2021-05-01T15:13:16Z

@subman It was on the to-do list! I quite enjoy the idea of the maneuvers one could pull if it had been implemented. :D

Oiligarch by dxk2294 2021-05-03T16:39:41Z

Reminds me of the flash game Oilagarchy, though this one has a grimmer end. Would love to see a more fully fledged out version of this!

Stabalot by bw_devel 2021-04-26T11:08:12Z

That is the most innovative idea I've seen yet! Turns out my poor tetris skills transfer to this game as well but at least I managed to defeat Rousseau after only a few too many tries. :D

Abyss. by Darylsteak 2021-04-28T00:02:41Z

Submarine! Sonar! Morse! It's all so bloody amazing! I really really love the touch of having the actual messages in morse (though it didn't always *exactly* match the written text). My only problem was the final boss being a bit too hard for me. :D

Hell Diver by MacDoom 2021-04-26T11:45:00Z

Love the graphics! Feels like it would be a really fun game to have on my phone with a bit more polish. The hitboxes did feel a little bit too punishing, or maybe I'm just bad. :D

Viper Mission One by Majadroid 2021-04-26T11:27:06Z

You did really great with the BSG feel of the game. The controls were also nice to use and destroying the enemy felt really satisfying. I did have some trouble hitting the pickups with the slightly strange perspective though so it would've been nice if they had a larger area. Also I constantly saw asteroids blinking in and out of existence in the background which was a bit distracting.

Ballast by Ekoxe 2021-05-03T16:12:12Z

A great little game! Really stressful, as these types of games should be! :D I did have a bit of trouble seeing the ocean floor sometimes when the sub was partially filled with water which lead to some quite embarrassing deaths...

Project Achelois by DzejPi 2021-04-26T18:01:31Z

I made it to the end! I liked the voice and dialogue. I do think that the pacing would be a bit better if the enemies were present higher up in the level though. I also think you see things worse when you shine a spotlight on them? :P

Deep Sleep - The Sandman by VeryGenuineCraze 2021-04-26T10:56:48Z

I love the sound design! Especially the dog sounds, absolutely fantastic. The graphics are great as well and I think the balancing was quite good, I made it 12 hours which feels like a very good amount of sleep. :D

RUN FROM STUFF (2D Chase Game) by PookiPoot 2021-04-26T11:58:16Z

I really like how this game looks! A platforming casual like me would have appreciated some checkpoints though, I really wanted to see if there was an end. :D

Egress by SirDuck 2021-05-03T16:04:06Z

I love this! Would absolutely play a more finished version of this in the future. I would have liked to have more info about what the effects of the different types of programs and their stats were though.

LD49 — Unstable

heat wave by gentoogames 2021-10-11T14:13:19Z

Really nice game once I'd played a few rounds and gotten the hang of it. Gave somewhat of a frostpunk vibe. Somehow managed to get 9999 fuel on one playthrough (might have been a bug?) and got a score of 1231 :D

Nukular Falling Tower by blearn 2021-10-11T14:43:57Z

Really nice little game! Played it through a few rounds and noticed that the length of it varied by quite a lot which is a cool concept for replayability but I got one where the goal was two platforms before me which didn't quite feel like a challenge, haha. Really like the hats, great addition, every game needs hats! :D

Balkanization 1 by kr4ft3r 2021-10-11T15:48:05Z

Great take on the theme! Also really impressive strategy game to put together in a weekend. Joining the EU as Serbia in 1280AD is a bit funny though, they truly were ahead of their time. I did notice that completely destroying the economy of a losing country might be a bit too punative though, maybe just lose a few levels of it in order to preserve long term balance?

Path of Giants by Jon_Nova 2021-10-11T16:22:15Z

A nice puzzle game! The puzzles were fun to do but I had trouble judging the stability of the ice which led to a bit of trial and error on some stages. Otherwise great! :D

Meltdown by LouieJams 2021-10-11T14:52:22Z

Really nice cute little game! I especially like the slime just chilling in the corner, great piece of atmosphere! :D Some music would have been nice to add even more of that as well

D.A.D Logistics ltd. by Xparker 2021-10-11T14:35:50Z

Really fun concept! Greed doomed my ship many a time... Seeing this contiued with features to reward my greed would therefore be great! I am also *in love* with the sea-shanty-like tetris music.

Decommissioned by T90. 2021-10-11T15:27:16Z

Absolutely fantastic atmosphere! A visual novel about particle physics was certainly not something I was expecting to see but I am pleasantly surprised! Really enjoyed it but would have appreciated some more tutorial info, does the energy of the particle matter for example? Or the difference between alpha and beta gameplay-wise?

Defence Extraction by Random Ideation Studios 2021-10-11T14:25:22Z

A nice little game, especially for only being made in a day! Quite enjoyable gameplay, though I think the rocks should have done a little more damage on average, doing only 2 damage or so per hit made the rounds a little bit long. :)

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Isn't it a bit hotter than normal outside? by axelrinaldo 2022-04-04T23:02:52Z

@garazbolg2 Ah, yes, the sun not expanding again is a bug, I really should put aside more time for testing and balancing lol. I did have planned to make a separate ending for getting the sun back to 0% but ya know, *time*. :D Some random events would be nice though, the game being a bit too "stable" doesn't help the fun factor. That rocket animation was also even better in actuality with the spent stages being discarded from the rocket but for some buggy reason I did not manage to solve building the project broke the subemitters of the rocket particles. :/ Thank you so much for the feedback! :D

@2demigods Well frick, that's a bit embarrasing... Thanks for telling me! :D

@gummibot Hm, yeah, I really don't like how Itch.io puts the game in that small a window. :/ Updating the building cards with info on energy cost was something I planned to do but completely forgot, oops. :) A thousand thanks for the feedback! :D

Eldritch Legacy by amkingTRP 2022-04-17T21:14:56Z

I will always love birds-eye perspectives and a game with a focus on story is always nice to play. :D The infoboxes for the characters where a bit on the small side though and some sound effects would have made the immersion even better. :D

Death Or Taxes by Fionnabhair 2022-04-17T20:57:21Z

Feels nice and refreshing to play a text heavy choose-your-own adventure, really makes it stand out among the jam games. :D I am impressed at the amount of text and it was very well written though (and this might just be me) I found the background colour made it a bit unpleasant to read.

Good game! :D

Last Bastion by sansman01 2022-04-17T22:04:54Z

The game is a little quick in the beginning but once I got my bearings it went quite well and I at least lasted for a while. :D It would be nice for the HP for the furthest out gates to always be visible somewhere on the HUD since I accidentaly lost due to not noticing some enemies getting past my character :D

Red giant by Szkocka 2022-04-17T22:14:34Z

A really fun game and a good take on the theme. :D I do appear to have caught a case of the stupid though since I died two times to simply forgetting oxygen was a thing, some kind of warning sound would have been appreciated to help my failing mind. :D

InevitaBallistics by JHax 2022-04-17T21:28:44Z

This is the game I've played for the longest so far, I went through all the maps. :D I think this would've been quite a popular arcade game back in the day. :D Apart from the slightly wonky collision already mentioned by others I have no complaints, I mean, it even has character selection!

From Beyond The Stars by 0X_VOID_X0 2022-04-17T22:29:23Z

I am sad that I can not rate this game in humour, that flip is worth a 5/5! That is how the short Ludum Dare time should be spent!

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Deadly DIving by Gildar76 2022-10-14T22:44:51Z

A nice little game which I absolutely did *not* ragequit after the second shark spawned right on top of me. :) A very well drawn shark mind though! :D A good take on the theme! :D

Quick to Judge by axelrinaldo 2022-10-12T17:55:05Z

@pbg That would be a good change to make yeah, I noticed during testing that it was a bit more stressfull than I was aiming for (even after being very creative with how fast time passes in-game, there may be a slight time dilation going on :P). Thanks for the suggestion! :D

Quick to Judge by axelrinaldo 2022-10-16T13:31:26Z

@ninjacreeper47 That is some very good feedback. I did feel a lot of these things when I finally had the game finished enough to playtest it myself. Unfortunately this was too close to the deadline for me to make the wider changes that would've been needed to fix it. The only fix I had time to implement was that the 10 seconds are actually a bit more than 10 seconds, unfortunately stretching it any more would've been a bit too obvious. :D Thank you yet again for a list of things to keep in mind if I ever make a game like this again. :D

@john-wuller I thought I had finally released a game without an exploit, I was once again proven to be wrong. :P Thanks for the feedback and bug report. :D

Six Shots Per Minuteman by MikeSalyh 2022-10-11T18:56:22Z

This is my favourite games of the ones I've played so far. Historical accuracy, those great reload animations, the tension of every shot counting and the British voice lines are all amazing. You really have to make sure your shot hits even while you're dodging around countless enemy bullets because otherwise it's another long ten second wait. The difficulty did ramp a bit quickly for me though and having quite poor reflexes I would have appreciated either the enemies having a bit less range or having a bit longer viewrange myself so that I don't have to dodge bullets from enemies I couldn't see, beating level 3 took me many many tries and while I'm working on level 4 i've probably got a bit to go on completing that one. :)

Marshmallow Bandit by Flamboozle 2022-10-14T23:29:49Z

I have never in my life had my heart beating so fast as I did playing this. Absolutely amazing, I find nothing worthy of critisism, the only bug I encountered was some enemies health not being reset on a respawn which was after all very appreciated :P

Nuke Yourself to Alpha Centauri! by Josh Roby 2022-10-11T23:00:36Z

So many of my favourite things packed together into one game, Space Travel (and Project Orion in particular), an immersive interface with components (!) and power transfer (!!) and an animated pusher plate (!!!). The only thing I could say I was missing was sound, truly feeling the power of the bomb and a few warnings would be absolutely amazing. Great game! :D

The Spacetime Contraption by Craig King 2022-10-11T19:17:31Z

I really like the concept of having to go through a few rounds to see what happens at which moment, being able to slow down time for this felt great. Took me 12 rounds which I'm quite happy with :D

Web-Cleaner by Heming Ruan 2022-10-11T19:43:56Z

Awesome game, I like how you managed to tell an overarching story through the game that was possible to follow despite how stressfull it was. Great graphics and nice balancing on the gameplay speed, stressfull but not too stressfull. I would have liked a sound effect to tell if I made the right moderation decision though (if there was I must have missed it). Great game! :D

Two Tanks by K3y 2022-10-14T23:03:40Z

I think this is really great for a first jam game and if you keep improving at this rate you'll be making AAAs by yourself by the end of next week :P Regarding the missile exploding audio might it be that you want to destroy the missile object while still playing the sound from it? If that is the case then a solution is to have an object responsible for playing sounds and sending a signal to this object to play that sound when the missile is destroyed :D

Judge Absurdia by Kujoen 2022-10-20T16:53:51Z

I am glad someone else had a similar idea to me and managed a better implementation of it. This was *exactly* what I was going for with my game. :D Silly laws, funny people and good honest absurdity. Great game! :D

LD53 — Delivery

You crane do it! by crazyrems 2023-05-19T19:59:15Z

This game is very fun to play, and above all funny. There is a lot of humour in for example an old lady thanking you for dragging her face to the ground across the street and then just laying there motionless on the ground. :D The dialogue was also good and the crane movement while being fiddly like it should was better than most similar games I've played. The only thing I was personally missing would be some whimsical background music. Great game!

Fine I'll Do It Myself by axelrinaldo 2023-05-03T12:27:01Z

@potatocouch @hacktic Yeeeeeee, for proper gameplay I really should have limited the max force, the problem was that I was having a bit too fun yeeting the box across the map myself, lol. Glad you still enjoyed it :D

@theguy *Clearly* the slimes must be made of a special cardboard degrading acid. :P Glad you enjoyed it and it is nice to know someone likes my programmer art :D

@payaosito Those are good suggestions! Might have to make a post jam version sometime with that mechanic just for fun :D

Fine I'll Do It Myself by axelrinaldo 2023-05-19T16:17:07Z

@ddesigndude @patrick-abernathy Yeah, that would probably have been a good idea, especially for some longer levels (if they existed) being killed in one hit is probablably way too harsh. :/

@sudocoffee Ah, frick, I did not think of being able to do that! But well, it's not a game jam without some bugs slipping through :P And especially when the engine is new to you as you have probably also experienced. :D

@cataclysmicknight @zundou @moonsheep I'm glad you got some enjoyment out of it! :D

Fine I'll Do It Myself by axelrinaldo 2023-05-20T13:23:19Z

@lomby Oh lord, watching my game getting played is among the most awkward feelings I have experienced but thank you so much for doing it! You gave good feedback and seeing how someone experiences the game for the first time gave me some interesting things to think about. :D I am indeed poor at leaving comments on other games though, I try my best but the social anxiety often says no. Leaving ratings is much nicer but I do understand why it's good that people give feedback and will try to push myself into doing more of that earlier next jam so that I don't have to stress this much over being rated myself. :)

Timeline by Avi 2023-05-19T21:18:47Z

My favourite board game turned into a computer game gets high ratings from me! I did find it unfortunate that the cards were not always very specific, it made me misplace quite a few of them just from misinterpreting what event the very short phrase was trying to allude to. In general though, great work!

Supply Heroes by SvenErik 2023-05-19T16:02:30Z

As a lover of games like Planet Wars I really enjoyed this game. It got really hectic really fast and I was not good at it at all but it was fun! The art looks great and it is very intuitive to play so great job on that! The only negative I can think of would probably be that the sound volume feels a bit strangely balanced with the sounds of battle being quite overpowering. Great game!

Kingdom Post by Astoeth 2023-05-16T17:48:16Z

I really enjoyed this game, in fact I have bookmarked it so that I can play more of it after I've finished rating other games. The risk-reward of sending a far-away delivery works great, balancing between the safe option that will keep my staff fed and a grand treasure to use to expand is really fun. The concept of having to give up on your runners is also something I haven't seen before that I think adds a lot of tension, it felt really great when my merchant returned and saved me from a game-over after having been gone for a week.

Critisism-wise the only proper gripe I had was that I would like to have been able to see the available deliveries even when all the postmen were out and about so that I could see if I should hire someone new to take an especially lucrative delivery. Amazing job!

Planetary Pizza by mrks 2023-05-19T20:13:19Z

I do enjoy myself some newtonian physics and while I agree with the previous commenters in that gravity doesn't quite match what my Kerbal Space Program-filled brain tells me it should be I did get the hang of it quite quickly. I managed to deliver 100 pizzas but in the process of taking a screenshot of this I acidentally alt-tabbed and died instead but I still have the proof right here:Skärmbild 2023-05-19 221150.jpg It was a great deal of fun! Though I think the hitboxes were a bit too unforgiving, I did quite unfairly a couple of times. :( Still, well done this jam!

The Ferryman by Lomby 2023-05-19T15:29:05Z

I love this take on the theme and the general mood of this game, too bad you ran out of time though, I wanted to experience *more* of it. :pensive:

13Hour Shift - Idle Game by ScriptMage 2023-05-19T20:36:57Z

Big numbers getting bigger will probably always make my brain happy and this game certainly has that. I think the balance is surprisingly good for a jam game, it has this very good exponential growth curve where at the end you have more money than you can spend and the total playtime is still not unreasonable for a jam game. I really liked the visuals, especially how they change with the upgrades and the little letter explosions from the progress bars. :D My only gripe was that the text was a bit of a strain to read on some colours. Overall a great game! :D

There is nothing better for learning a new tool quickly than a game jam! I really like the graphics style and it feels like a good style of game to learn a lot of what Godot has to offer on. Great work! :D

Back to the Roots by Essillore 2023-05-19T15:22:52Z

I think there is a good start to a game here, some kind of puzzle mechanics would probably work quite well with this. Or some kind of obstacle to growing the roots in general. I do enjoy the general idea of an in-depth root nurishment simulation though :D

Fetch Quest. A small text adventure by Patrick Abernathy 2023-05-19T15:14:48Z

I love seeing text adventures in Ludum Dare, they are always really fun to play. Four whole endings is more than most games I have played so I'm impressed. :D Negatives wise it does suffer from the age old problem of text based games, that there is often a certain way you have to write your commands for best effect that you kind of have to figure out, though I really appreciate the example you included. Overall a great game!

Pallet Panic by Henrik Ganard 2023-10-15T01:10:31Z

Really nice game, I felt encouraged to drive the forklift just as recklessly as I have seen real workers doing. :D One detail I really liked was the use of "pyjamaspapper" (the english translation of which I don't think will be necessary for me to look up :P) for the UI, it adds a lot to the visual experience to have UI that fits with the setting, especially when it's constantly on the screen. Great work! :D

Fun game, and a very relatable struggle for those of us who regularly partake in the joys of public transport. It took me a bit before i figured out that the speech at the bottom doesnt actually have anything to do with what i need to do, and i think it would be a neat extension of the current game if it did.
