@stanroy Thanks for playing.
Fun game well done! I realized while playing that my greed knows no bounds..
I've never played anything like this before, I liked it!
I like the music and use of the theme. I don't understand what to do properly on balance. Good job!
Oh i just figured out! Good game!
I liked to balance the cargo, the value just does'nt affected my decisions of just mantaining the balance of the counteiners, did i not paid attention to something? Or the value of the cargo has a gameplay effect?
Very cool idea! I sunk my commerceship first time out because I thought I had to fill it.
There's a LOT you could do with more time and this basic gameplay!
Very cool game, with a notion of balance that perfectly fits the theme. I really appreciated the tension that you feel during the trip between two ports. Kudos also for the clear instructions and easy-to-use interface.
Stengths : Fun gameplay, thematically adequate Simple, straightforward UI Cool nods to Tetris in the gameplay and the soundtrack ;)
Possible Improvements Font sizing is sometimes a bit off.
All in all, great game !
@shaggy @zain Thanks for playing :slight_smile:
@lumbigui The balancing was quite an "interesting" thing to do.. I think it only worked properly 6h before the end.
@lucas-viana Only the weight has an effect, the value is random and is not used later on. Although it lays the basic idea of trading. We even toyed with the idea of the player having to "Buy" the information such as value / wtigh etc.
@maxathon There is no limit to how high you can stack.. only a limit on the weight :wink: We had loads of ideas.... next time (3rd time) will be the charm (I hope)
@jlv The UI was also "interesting" to do.. some of us used 4k screens, others 16:10 (1920x1200).. so the resolution varied a lot :laughing: But yeah, time was the limiting factor (as usual)
Fun! Great potential for further expansion of the game concept! Would have liked to see how much money every trip generated. :moneybag:
@praccen As mentioned above: Ideas where there, time was not enough :smile:
Very fun idea, seems like you could do a fun game, adding some objectives. As is, I don't see why I should put any container on the boat, perhaps a minimun value requirement, and also, to see a preview of the route. It reminds a lot of the board game Galaxy Trucker.
Interesting idea, quite fun, would be interesting on how to could be expanded upon.
@elmismopancho hmm having a min value might actually be a very simple idea that would make it a lot more engaging.
Very fun concept! I enjoyed playing, though it would've been nice to have a progress bar of some sort, because I couldn't really tell if I was getting anywhere or if there was an end to the game.
Nearly tipped over with a 1/4 tn of cargo. 10/10
@garett There are 6 designed levels and 2 test levels by mistake, so a total of 8.
Cool idea! At first I didn't know how to play, you could probably always show the help at the start or have some other indicators visible on screen to help with figuring out the controls. Anyways, I liked balancing and putting on as much cargo as possible. I wish the value would actually contribute to the cash you earn to continue operating your shipping company.
Cool game, only missing a bit of feedback and the reward of shipping a full ship. Never thought balancing a container ship would be funny :)
@barrier @max-s Thanks for playing. Yeah, the value was supposed to haven an effect.. but time constraints :sweat_smile:
Coool Game! I would love to see the Value at the end shipped from Rotterdam to Hamburg! Good music
Cool idea, some nice risk, reward, and balance decisions. The sailing part can be pretty stressful :)
It would be nice to see how much profit I have made over all of my successful trips (and how much I've lost from shipwrecks)
Sailing is fully automatic, right? I tried some mouse and WASD inputs but it didn't seem like I had any influence.
@erikengineengineer Thanks. As mentioned in credits, we had the luck of a professional musician... actually learning to play the accordion (or at least the skill required).
@almost Correct, no input works during sailing. Some testers actually mentioned the same thing as well, even going as far as suggesting the usage of mobile phone level sensors to actually counter the tilting angle.
This was way more fun than expected. I wish it was a little more streamlined, e.g. having crates be just heavy, medium or light instead of weight to the .1 tons, and it would be kind of fun to have a Box2D style physics showing the crates tumbling and sliding even if that didn't matter to the simulation. But overall a lot of fun, and I could imagine a full game loading and sending out a bunch of ships at the same time, this feels like it could be it's own whole genre of management+physics+sim. Nice job!
@joel-davis nice idea with the moving containers.. never thought of that!
Having the random weight and color makes it way more difficult to actually balance the load. You can only rely on the ship movement to go for a best guess, thats why we went for that :wink:
Like it!
Nice idea.
love the art of this game especially when you win, the game idea is pretty cool tho feels limited at first, also is that a rearranged version of tetris music ?
Thank you for submitting the game to the stream! I had a lot of fun, even though greed sank my ship and caused a bigger international shipping crisis that the boat in the Suez canal.
Like I mentioned, I really like the fact that you have an in-game tutorial. It was made in a really clever way. The game it self is a lot of fun, found it awesome that your ship can sink when you are in the bay, that was the first thing I wanted to test.
I liked the varied weather effects that occured when the ship was sailing as well :)
Overall a great entry! :trophy:
@forik @picknucker thanks for playing.
@0x-void-x0 it is. We chose to do this due to the fact that the player has to stack the containers.
@simon-rahnasto Thanks for playing on stream and the great feedback. Sadly we didnt have the time to make the hreed worth it :wink:
Hello! I really liked you game! If you care for feedback then I will jump straight into it and say that the containter-loading part of the game was amazing! You really had to make interesting decisions of whether to place something or to not place something, and whether or not you should stop or if you should greeedily continue! :D I felt that the shipping part could have been better, because it didn't feel intuitive when the ship was gonna crash and I was quite surprised when I lost. I would've loved to see some game mechanics for when you did the actual shipping, like maybe you have to be the captain who controls everything and makes sure u don't tip over or likewise (but of course that's just an idea). I loved the music, it fit perfectly, and the artstyle was nice. Overall I think you did a great game and you did exceptionally well when it came to it's game design :D
My only complaint is the lack of a score or some way to keep track of how well you're doing. I really like the core mechanic of the game, however. The cover of the Tetris theme was a nice touch!
@maxkyckling Thanks a lot for playing. We are always interested in feedback, as it helps us improve. We were already very limited on time and thus almost didn't finish... and had to cut a lot of features. For example the usage of the value for each container, a leader-board and influence over the ship whilst traveling.
Nonetheless we are happy with the result.
@sestren Thanks for playing. Yeah, the value was added at time that we thought that we could use it. We also planned to have a feature where you had to buy the information e.g. Weight or Value etc.
Really fun concept! Greed doomed my ship many a time... Seeing this contiued with features to reward my greed would therefore be great! I am also *in love* with the sea-shanty-like tetris music.
@axelrinaldo Thanks a lot. Yeah, greed always gets the better of us :wink:
Very fun game. Fits perfectly to the theme. I liked the music with tetris-tune.
@monninen Thanks for playing :heart:
Nice game, you guys did a really good job with design and sound! I just wished there was more interaction with the player during the levels
Nice game! I found the balancing mechanics pretty interesting, and they are very relevant to the theme of the jam. However, the game gets a little boring after a while since balancing the crates is the only thing you do. There is also a lack of control on how the ship does when it is travelling.
The music is awesome. However, I felt like the SFX are too loud, especially the wind, but I do appreciate the ability to adjust the volumes of different groups of sound.
Also, I like the name of the game. Overall an enjoyable experience, awesome job.
