LD45 — Start with nothing

Logical by Cethin 2019-10-07T21:26:06Z

Nice little logic solver/puzzle, but I could see it would be hard for someone not knowing the gates to get through the game. A little description of the gates after they were unlocked would help a lot.

Other than that it's a great idea that fits the theme in a unique way.

Buzzsaw Cat by DPS2004 2019-10-07T23:42:39Z

Didn't get music the first try, but it worked when I used a different browser. The movement of things also made me a little dizzy, maybe a little less contrast would help.

Other than that it was a fun little game, not too hard and not too easy. Nice and simple art style.

@dps2004 Brave browser, which is a fork of Chrome. It's just the internal tracker blocker that blocks it.

Oriopia by TheMuffinMan314 2019-10-07T21:39:35Z

It's a nice idea, I like the particle effects on shooting. Only issue I have is that there is very little sense of progress so it's hard to know if there is something else you should be doing.

In any case, nice work!

Boing! by Refsa 2019-10-09T14:27:16Z

Thank you for the kind feedback everyone!

@twinturbodouche yeah, the Game Over stats was never implemented. I didn't get time to do it so the placeholder was just left in.

@themuffinman314 Yeah, the wall/bars were a last minute addition. I sort of forgot to change the sprite it uses and add some SFX to make it more obvious that it does damage.

LD46 — Keep it alive

Keep it Alive, Keep them Alive by jeremyfa 2020-04-20T13:24:38Z

I liked this puzzle game. The art style is simple yet aesthetically pleasing. There is strategy involved through the whole thing since you can move the commands around. This also makes certain situations a bit more hectic and doesn't just require the initial setup. You got lots of room for more levels and ideas, so this is a great starting point for a deeper puzzle game.

You could have explained the controls a bit more. Since the commands are numbered it seems they have to be placed in order but you can also move them around. The numbering also logically connects them to the numbers on the keyboard so it was a bit confusing on the first level.

Good work!

Always nice to see someone use the Love 2D engine.

I really like the concept of this game, there is a lot of interesting stuff this can be expanded into. Nice use of different audio clips on the nodes to make a melody. The UI and gameplay is nice and smooth, but it did take me a little while before I noticed the line drawn to a node didn't control the direction it played the wave in.

Nice work!

Interesting concept. Nice and simple with no extra fuzz.

First off, congrats on your first LD game!

Overall I enjoyed your game and you clearly managed to create an experience. The music sets the mood really well and I like the idea of having to swing my axe physically to chop down trees and gather rocks. The controls are a bit stiff and I think you could improve it a lot by allowing the player to swing the axe with the mouse.

Overall I would say you did a great job!

Control Room by jsec 2020-04-20T13:02:22Z

I like the art style and the background music was in tune with the gameplay. The core gameplay loop is fun and engaging and you have plenty of room to expand with more actions for the player to perform. It gets hectic towards the end and you got a nice pacing to the gameplay.

The font you used was very hard to read and it was hard to read stuff fast. The STOP button for the Solid Fuel Loading window wasn't really explained and caught me off guard a few times. The low energy beeping was also a bit loud and could use some tuning.

Other than that you did a great job!

Ballistica by SimonBeats 2020-04-20T13:53:26Z

I like having to aim the turrets around. Makes the waves a bit more interesting and not just a spectator game. Would be nice to have a better indication where enemies are coming from as later rounds requires a lot of micro management of the towers. Art style feels nice and there is a good selection of turrets to use.

Overall a nice little tower defense game.

Last Fortress Left by ConnorThompson 2020-04-20T13:30:59Z

Great start for a more engaging puzzle game. Understandably you didn't get time to create and playtest more difficult puzzles, but that shouldn't take away from the core idea. UI is clean and the art style makes it feel like a chess game.

Nice work!

RESCUR'ROBOT by jiukka 2020-05-12T14:46:47Z

I liked it even though it was very short. Good idea, nice VFX and the music was very well fitting. It had a good atmosphere and just lacked a bit more content. Well done!

For future reference, it is good to try and review more games and leave feedback on them. Bigger chance for your game to be seen. Hope you get your 20 reviews in!

Sourdough Starter Simulator by kristina 2020-04-20T15:31:32Z

I like the idea! Took some time to figure out how to play but once I understood the mechanics it played well. Nice little race to balance the three states of the sourdough in order to create more scallion pancakes. Nice job!

Fuzzle by Refsa 2020-04-23T01:42:11Z

Thanks for all the nice feedback :)

@cagibi @mudlee Yeah, I wasn't really sure if it was a good idea to force people through the "tutorial" part. I really wanted to add a shorter ingame tutorial and should have spent some more time on that the last day. Thanks for pointing it out, I will make sure to focus more on this part in the future 👍

The Dark by XeduR 2020-04-20T13:13:49Z

Great atmosphere. The text bubbles was a nice touch that did a lot to the overall character of the game.

Good job!

Congrats on your first LD game!

Overall you managed to create a short but put together experience. I did see some nice attempts at creating non-linear levels which is a nice way to affect the end. You got some player choice at the end of each level which was a nice touch that also directly affects how the story ends. There was just enough content to keep me entertained and you paced it well.

You mentioned it had some jank and it did. But I didn't meet any game breaking bugs so overall I would say you did great!

Supernova by Clément K 2020-04-20T15:22:24Z

Got a bit scared from the tutorial screen, but it quickly made sense when I started playing. It's a neat idea that is simple to get into and hard to master. The spaceship is a bit floaty so it takes some time to get used to maneuvering around to find radioactive space rocks and flinging them into the sun. Maybe an additional mechanic to slow the spaceship down faster would make it a bit easier to control (an maybe help with flinging rocks into the sun?)

The sun expanding and pushing everything away when it dies was a really nice touch, great work!

Danger in the City by Fififox 2020-05-12T05:59:54Z

Cool retro style graphics and the core gameplay loop was well made and simple to get into. Didn't figure that I had to drive to the other side of the city until I tried but other than that this was a nice entry to the jam!
