Hey guys pls check out my game i have got 0 ratings on it, i dont want to loose, i beg for my life
mood and audio are pretty ok. But its get boring pretty fast imo. Cutting mechanic is clever.
Good work for your first ludum keep it up. I like the resource system you have put in to the game, nice one
Nice job! I like the rotation mechanic for chopping trees, makes you really feel like you are working :D. For just normal movement the rotation is a bit jarring though. The UI could also be more usable. That being said, good gameplay depth with different materials and tools etc. Very nice submission!
First off, congrats on your first LD game!
Overall I enjoyed your game and you clearly managed to create an experience. The music sets the mood really well and I like the idea of having to swing my axe physically to chop down trees and gather rocks. The controls are a bit stiff and I think you could improve it a lot by allowing the player to swing the axe with the mouse.
Overall I would say you did a great job!
thats so cool! i love the axe mechanic! well done
From one developer to another: I love the art. It feels like there needs to be a little more visual feedback when performing an action, I wasn't sure if I was chopping things at first, maybe have the trees shake a bit.
I like the gameplay and had a lot of fun playing it. Fits the theme well, and a nice take and lore on the "firekeeping" mechanic.
Would have loved more sounds.
Unique mining system, game gets stale pretty fast. Combat with this mechanic could be pretty fun.
Nice entry. I like the depth of the game, very much to do and upgrade here. After building 4 tree planters, I could not keep up with the trees growing :-) The axe mechanic is a bit stressful for the fingers after 5 minutes, since you always have to rotate. Really liked playing the game
Wow! This is a very unique game style. I havn't seen any games where you actualy have st wing to damage something. The art was... sub-par - it could have had a lot more work done to it. The music was quite dull, and repetitive. Extending the song by about ten seconds, to make a longer loop, would make it a lot better. I wasn't sure is there was something to work towards, so it did get quite dull dater than expected. Maybe a chalenge/quest system?
Nice game. I like the cutting mechanic. Somehow addictive. Graphics could be better though. I didn't even realize that those are trees in the beginning :)
There's a lot of nice touches to this game as others have mentioned, the cutting mechanic, the resource system etc, but yeah it's very slow paced, especially for a large jam where everyone's trying to play lots of games  I hope you keep that in mind for next time and make something faster paced, then it would be awesome!
@jsec Yeah, I realized I had set the resource values a bit too high when I did my final playtest but I didn't have the time to change it, a reduction of those would probably tighten up the gameplay a bit.
@munkkeli Great feedback, making a button based UI would probably have been a good idea, the amount of number pressing options got a bit out of hand... The movement is also clunky as you say, following @refsa 's suggestion and making it mouse-based would probably have been smoother.
@cryptomnesic Good idea, that would probably have made the axe swings feel weightier. I'll try to think more about visual feedback in future games.
@despiciestboi I... don't know how I hadn't thought of that. That is absolutely going on my ideas list, thanks!
@tomdeal Ah, yes, I forgot to consider the ergonomical problems of the axe swinging mechanic. :D Glad you enjoyed it!
Great job! This game was fun. :) The music was so sombre it definitely emphasized the seriousness of the situation.
Very interesting game, having to physically swing your character is unique. The difficulty really spiked when you unlocked the ironworks but the chainsaw balanced it out. Repaired the helicopter and got out of the infernal forest. Keep up the good work
That was really fun, getting the chainsaw is really rewarding!
The movement controls are a bit frustrating.
The game felt really well balanced. I felt the pressure to keep the fire lit until later in the game, when it was strictly about getting the repair materials. Each upgrade felt like an accomplishment, especially since it relieved that pressure.
Despite it being written in the instructions, it took me a minute to recognize that I needed to rotate my character to chop trees - it also took me a minute to recognize what were trees. After the first few minutes it felt intuitive though. Some additional feedback would have been useful, since I found myself asking "What's this grey thing and why can't I chop it?"
I also appreciated the story text. It did a good job setting the tone and context.
@arcus Thanks for the feedback! The art really could use a lot of work, my own terrible art skills were amplified by the thought "I'll just fix it up later". Of course there was no later. The music is a similar deal, I actually made an entirely different track but it didn't fit the gameplay at all so I threw together what can be heard in the game very quickly. It fits the game better but I unfortunately didn't have the time to make it very long or varied.
@rustyrobotgames Yeah, it turns out I have a really poor perception of what a tree looks like from above. :D Thanks for the feedback!
@congusbongus Yeah, it was supposed to be a much shorter game but I both went a bit overboard with the amount of upgrades and the resource cost for each of them. I'll have to remember this valuable lesson for LD47.
@steelysam Ah, yes, those ironworks do eat fuel fast. Maybe a bit excessivly so... I'm glad you thought it was interesting enough to complete!
@bongo227 Glad you enjoyed it! I agree that the movement really would have benefitted from some more work. I also would have liked to add a specific chainsaw sound if only time had allowed me to.
@pincushion It makes me so happy to hear you appreciated it! :) I really should take an art course in preparation for the next Ludum Dare. Or make a text based game, that might also work. :D
Reminds me of old shareware games, the tree cutting mechanic is great :D
