The Trash Bin That Could by mathijs750 2017-08-07T18:37:42Z
Your game is quite simple to go through but it's funny :) The basic idea is so perfect ahah xD And also the end is very funny :)
Overall it's a great game! :)

Overall it's a great game! :)
It's honestly quite complicated to find out what to do or to understand what's happening. Maybe it was what you wanted though but I think it doesn't serve the game very well sadly ^^… Otherwise, the game is a very interesting experience (I think it's about the last days of a person called “M”, probably in a hospital bed?) and the fact you chose the Windows console as a game environment (with graphics!) is very interesing! Excited to see some other games like this from you :)
Fail is all part of the game jam and game design experience :) Someone who tells you he never failed is nothing more than a liar. Try to figure out why you didn't achieve to finish your game and learn from it :) It will be the best way to take your revenge next time and finish your project!
Good luck! :D
The idea is nice and right in the theme :) It's amazing you could do this all alone! I had some time to understand that the last enemy appearing was a boss to fight, though. You should do some more feedback on him when hit, I think!
Otherwise, nice entry :)
Nice puzzle, I liked it! The gameplay is intuitive, I loved how the graphics looked (this lighting <3), the music is great too, maybe a bit too repetitive! ^^ I had hard times seeing the last stairs though :) But otherwise, very nice game! Congrats ;)
P.S: Thank you very much for making a Linux version! :D
Very nice game you made here buddy! I love the rhythm gameplay tied with the great music and storytelling  It’s so you to make a game like that! :stuck_out_tongue: Looking forward to making another game with you, some day
I find the concept very nice, loved it! The game is very fun to play! Congratulations on that entry!
One word: WOW! How did you succeed to make this during the jam? That’s insane! The art and music are simply wonderful! And even if I honestly felt a bit lost and not really knowing what to do past picking up the first character, I simply loved the atmosphere of the game, as much as his artistic direction! I think you offered us one of the most polished games of the jam, and I think you definitely deserve to be in the top 10 in several categories
Et un peu de français parce que voilà : putain bravo les gars vous avez tout géré c’est dingue !
The game is very nice and polished to me! I really loved the graphics and the audio. I really like its topic too, really great great job on that! Though I have to admit I was a bit lost on the gameplay. I never really understood what some objects in my inventory were, and if what I was doing was good or bad ^^ Some sort of tutorial would really help to enhance the experience with your game which, to me, has a lot of potential!
Thank you all for playing my game!
@snory That’s a very nice feedback thank you very much! I think I will always forget to put a pause menu and an exit button in all my ludum dare games XD I’m glad the game felt that right to you, that’s awesome!
@landerack Thank you very much! I’m glad the game feels that great for you! I’m also glad you liked the music because I felt super unsecure about my music writing skills XD The mini map is a great idea, I may try to add one if I continue developing this game  Thanks!
@nirose Thank you very much for the constructive feedback! Indeed that seems smarter to do it that way :) If I continue that game, I’ll consider doing so
@dangitspang Thank you very much ! Would you say it was satisfying?
My my, the time I took to write my answer, two other comments popped out!
@bigtinygames Thank you very very very much! I wish I had more time to do level design, I loved designing the different levels present in here, and I’m a bit frustrated I could only make one “complete” level… I’ll really keep your comment somewhere if I want to do some improvements  Thank you very much again!
@axelrinaldo Thank you very much for your comment! I wish I could have made more levels as well, the level design process on this game was extremely satisfying to work on  You made me so happy calling it brillant haha! Thank you! :D
@captainabi Thank you! I’m glad you liked it  Hope the difficulty was enjoyable!
@cagibi Thanks for your feedback! I note that the counter should be more visible then! :stuck_out_tongue: Did you find the “blind exploration” feeling frustrating? I might work on that for post LD, if any :)
@cagibi Thank you very much for feedback  I feel from other comments (both here and in private) that some may actually enjoy that exploration, but sure it may need to be less frustrating :stuck_out_tongue:
@leon-oost Thank you very much for your feedback! I’m glad you liked it all  I’m so unconfident about my music writing skills so it warms my heart to hear that someone found it great!
@joowon I’m honored that you found my game great! Sorry if the music made you sad xD There’s no real story behind it if I’m honest! If I’m honest and personal, I could tell part of the artistic direction was led by the melancholy feeling I have from not being able to see my lover during those quarantine times ahah ^^ But yeah thank you veeeery much for your feedback!
@taldius Thank you very much for your feedback! It’s very nice to read that! I’m glad the game plays with your feelings that way haha :stuck_out_tongue:
@raivk Thank you very much! I’m glad you enjoyed the game!
@brice-mahier Thank you very much! I’ll try my best to do other nice games for future jams!
@zimny11 Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed it
@joe-bustamante Thank you for your enthusiasm about my game  I’m soo glad you find that awesome and that you liked playing it! I’m very happy to read that you like graphics and audio, because this is the first time I create them for a game! I’m more of a game designer & programmer to start with! Funny you said it deals with relationships; now that you talk about it, I kinda get that my game can be interpreted that way  I didn’t specifically design the game around that theme, but it probably was somewhere in my head while creating it
@stending Thank you very much buddy! Your feedback means a lot to me
@inka-mcatee Thank you very much :D I’m glad you found it enjoyable, sorry if it broke your heart xD Thank you again <3
@8bitcharlie Thank you very much for playing my game entirely! Yeah I know, I wish I could have done that in time ^^ Hope it didn’t bother you too much!
@blobo Thank you very much for your feedback  That honestly was not really intentional but, if you liked it then, let's say it's a feature! Haha!
Wow, that might be one of the greatest entries I found so far! What an amazing job you guys have made! I love the art, the gameplay sure is simple but very addictive, I love the story telling… Really awesome job! I’ll remember this game for some time that’s for sure!
The game is very fun! I really like the concept and how it’s related to the jam’s theme to be honest  Plus I love the humor and the voice acting, it’s very funny  Nice job! If I had to say something, that would be that the game would have deserved some music to enhance the experience  But otherwise, it works great to me!
Hey that’s a nice game you have here! I really like the concept  It’s very fun to play and can be very challenging very fast  Great job!
The game is really nice! I love the arts (even though you told you rushed them) and the music/audio  The game overall is very fun as well, awesome you got to make a whole rogue like in such a short amount of time  If I had to same something, I kinda feel like the core mechanic of having less light when your life goes down is a bit of a downward spiral. The more you lose life, the more you lose light, and the more you lose light, the harder it is to see enemies and the more you lose life… So maybe it was intentional, but it bothered me a bit ^^ Otherwise, very nice game! That’s a great entry and you guys made a great job!
Your game really made me laugh, I love the concept of it! This is very funny, very interesting, and I felt very satisfied to use my typewriting skills to play a game :smiling_imp: Yeah really loved your game, congratulations on that one!
The game is nice, it feels like a nice first compo entry to me! I found it pretty easy though, the fire never seemed like it would die ^^ Good job though! ( Also yell sound is awesome  )
Just tried your game! I find the concept interesting and nice to explore further maybe, if you want to continue the game  However, I admit I find the UI very confusing ^^ It’s hard to know what the icons mean or what the buttons do. Thankfully, you gave explanations on the LD page (by the way, I think you inverted left and right? ^^), so I could understand the game a bit better, but it’s still a bit hard to know exactly what to do. Maybe the game needs more explanations about the dice system, I don’t know ^^ Or some tutorial levels to explain the mechanics!
Although, for a first try, and moreover for someone beginning into gamedev, this is very encouraging and amazing you achieved to do something like that within 48 hours  Keep up the good work!
@snory Good luck with your projects then!
The game is really nice! I felt the feeling of stress when trying to manage all of those bloodrooms and brainpkins  You have a nice gameplay which engages players into trying to find the best strategy to produce the most blood possible  Although, if I can give you an advice (and maybe that’s something you could fix even for the jam version), the tutorial says brainpkins produce more juice if there is one bloodshroom in its row or column. What happens if there is more than one? I ask you because I’ve never been sure if this cancels out the bonus, keeps it or increases it ^^
@zimny11 Thanks for your response! Well I think you should insist more on that in the story ^^ Maybe that’s just me not being a native english speaker, and so, not understanding this as easily as someone who’s one. But I think it would be more understandable if you say the bonus happens if there’s *only* one (or *exactly* one) bloodshroom in column or row in the story part  That’s minor though, your game is still very nice even without this ^^
I loved your game so much! Wow! The graphics are awesome, the music and sfx as well, the story telling is so neat! And I love the gameplay and the difficulty curve! You did such a great job, I love it and wasn’t expecting to see that when starting the game! Thank you for sharing your game
Hey it was an enjoyable game  Spent a nice little time playing it, even though I got the feeling that some levels were not solvable? Like I didn’t figure out how to make it to the star, and sometimes i had the star and the shark in the same place  Nice one though!
That’s a nice game here! It’s nice you were able to do such gameplay in your first jam! Well the graphics can be improved for sure, and… you’re asking for audio ratings, but I didn’t hear any sound I think? You may want to uncheck that I guess ^^
I couldn’t go very far (can only buy the second rifle before dying ahah) but the game sure seems interesting  Great job! Looking forward your next jams
This is a nice game you have here  Minimalistic and fun  Good job on this
I think the game was a bit buggy for me, like the sprint didn’t use my soul at all… or maybe I wasn’t using it well ^^ I didn’t understand how to get through the tentacles without taking damage though The graphics are neat! I like the level design as well (would have loved it even more if i understood how to overpass those tentacles XD) But yeah nice game!
I really, really liked your game! The gameplay is hard to control, but I guess this is the whole isn’t it? Love the graphics, love the concept! Congrats! If I have one thing to say… I still don’t understand how you’re supposed to kill the “laser vessels” but I feel like I could understand by playing the game more
@nirose Ok! I honestly thought I had to charge my punch for longer time, but even that didn’t succeed… Anyway now I know how to kill them! But maybe you should try to make that more explicit, if you do further versions of the game  Still one of the best entries I found so far though!
I like the game’s mood a lot, you managed to do something very relaxing and lovely! Awesome  The game might be a bit easy and it’s a bit hard to understand when the fire is going to die, if you want to improve the gameplay!
Woow! I love your game guys! This is such a simple and nice concept, and beautifully done! The all hip hop atmosphere is very well brought, through the graphics, the audio, everything! And the game is super fun to play! I really felt the need to try to go further everytime I played  Really great job here!
That’s a nice game here! The gameplay is very fun, I love the mood, and the difficulty curve is very well done! Damn, the balance is hard to manage after some time! xD
Just a little commentary: the indications only given by the english-speaking god’s voice can be confusing for those who aren’t very fluent in English, like I am  Some subtitles could have helped solve this issue!
We're still working on it until submission hour :) A few last things to do before really publishing the game!
@vivifx fun fact, killing enemies *actually* heal you, but I think there are never really enough enemies for it to be visible
@amythyst Don't you have the health bar? Have you played on itch or on here? :)
Thank you everyone for your constructive and kind comments
You already know how much I liked your game guys :) Graphics are awesome, music is awesome, mood is awesome… It's awesome! :D And I really like how weird and unexpected the game goes as you lose it progressively :) That's a very nice idea to mix such moods together!
Keep going like that!
I liked the idea :)! You perfectly match the theme and found a great idea through it! Nice job!
PS: I think the game would be more enjoyable with a bit of music. You didn't want to be rated on audio of course, so it doesn't count in my ratings, but for a post-jam version maybe… :)
