The graphics, sfx and bgm are absolutely fantastic. One does not expect such a level for a game jam. It feels like an old fashion top-down zelda with up-to-date graphics. I am looking forward to playing the final version

arzi 2020-04-21 09:19

Impressive art!

sir-needleworth 2020-04-21 11:27

Absolutely amazing !

spyranteros 2020-04-21 11:45

Wooow! The map is huge, the RPG element is there, the art is phenomenal. But the music... oh boy the music! Many congratulations to the guys of Moonchimes, can't wait to listen to more. The sound design is fantastic as well.

doritolord 2020-04-21 12:00

everything is on point. i am astonished!

alexvoxel 2020-04-21 12:38

Very good result, you guys rock! The only thing i struggled with is that i didn't completely understand what the endgoal of the game is, but the gameplay was great.

kfischer-okarin 2020-04-21 13:22

Wow this is amazing production quality for a 3 day game jam... Coordinating everyone's efforts over that time must have been quite a task. Music and graphics are amazing. Just wow... I was not quite sure what the connection to the theme was though....

seano 2020-04-21 13:35

wow

hadesfury 2020-04-21 13:36

Well done, it is pretty .. and the music is great.

nickavv 2020-04-21 14:40

The graphics in this are phenomenal, and the music is very chill and nice (reminds me of something you'd hear in an Elder Scrolls game). The gameplay is pretty fun, I like the resource gathering and crafting element. Great work

cosmiccrystalgames 2020-04-21 15:18

Woah! Crazy polished for a jam game. Moment to moment gameplay was really great, but I sort of struggled with the quests and the NPC's (why do some follow you and others don't?), and just navigating the map in general. Audio and graphics, incredible. Great work all around

arinyl 2020-04-21 15:36

Very pretty game! The music was amazing too! And even tho it's unfinished, it's promising!

pndaa 2020-04-21 15:56

Everything is great. The graphics are gorgeous. Music and sounds are also wonderfull.

In the gameplay part, I sadly didn't succeed to finish it. Also NPC are not really great at following you. They spent their time stuck on walls this is a little annoying.

The idea of crafting your own bullets is genius.

Good job overall.

fakefrogsonly 2020-04-21 16:18

A little unclear what to do and how to progress but overall this is a fantastic achievement! Every aspect of the game feels like it has had a lot of attention and care put into it and it is a very high quality for something made in such a short amount of time. Great work! :D

barret 2020-04-21 17:05

Wow I was like I'll play this game during my lunch break. But the game is actually pretty big for a game jam game so I didn't get to finish the game, but I got the idea and wow the music, art, and sfx really shine together. There was one song by a castle that kind of reminded me of stranger things theme song and it was awesome.

I almost got stuck at first until I realized there was a hole in a fence haha. Being able to craft the different ammo is pretty nice too.

The one thing I'm not totally sure of with the theme is what were you trying to keep alive. I assume the main character, but I wasn't sure if there was something I missed in the interpretation of the theme

lespaul59 2020-04-21 17:46

this is just perfect, thank you so much for making this little masterpiece! Can you pls make a Switch Port? Thank you!

oxalotte 2020-04-21 18:06

Un excellent jeu très prometteur, une fois fini ce sera une vraie pépite ! Du bon travaille à vous tous en tout cas, la musique et excellente, les graphismes au petits oignons et le gameplay est vraiment très bien. Un gros GG à vous ! [^u^]/

motley 2020-04-21 18:25

Very good artwork and sound. Really like the merge of a topdown shooter and an rpg game.

At some locations I felt there were too many enemies (of the same type also) and that I have no way of killing them all with a restricted ammo count.

But overall: Magnifique jeu!

kiln 2020-04-21 19:30

I want a full game in this art style alone. I don't even care what it's about, the game is just amazing! The audio was amazing. The controls were great. Honestly, it's a wonder how y'all did this in three days, it's just insane.

endymion 2020-04-21 19:33

This is incredible for a game made within 72 hours. It has lots of content and almost every single aspect is pretty polished. Well done!

analog-limb 2020-04-21 19:34

Very cool and funky look for the game. I love the atmosphere and how it feels when you shoot with peas. Music is top notch and the graphics equals. I am inspired by your game. Well done!

leafthief 2020-04-21 19:56

The art was so good and only topped by the amazing music. The individual elements of the game were fine I think, I just had issues with the size of the world and how the systems interlocked at times. But the level of polish blew me away. Good job!

pee-thief 2020-04-21 21:06

very pretty

drunkain 2020-04-21 21:23

It's amazing to do that much in 72hours, and it's look so nice! amazing!

rednaxelus 2020-04-21 22:14

wow that´s impressive

harry-alissavakis 2020-04-21 22:18

Okay, this is ridiculously well-made and polished! This might as well be a full-blown game right there! The art was awesome, everything felt great and juicy and I just could not get enough of the music! Stunning work, well done!!

bebadboi 2020-04-22 03:29

This is absolutely exceptional. The art style is so amazing and cohesive and the music is wonderful. I'm stunned!

zzox 2020-04-22 04:44

Only possible complaint is the little bit of lag when enemies are spawning, but that's it. Quirky animations, beautiful pixel art, cool combat, music, all are really great. I'd pay for a full version for sure. Great work team!

nightvision65 2020-04-22 05:48

Unbelievable, you guys can make such game in 72 hours. Don't know what to do at first but soon figured out. The map is really huge with lots of side quests. The music and sound effects are really impressive. The collision may have a bit problem as sometimes the npcs shake rapidly at the edge of the obstacles. Overall, really nice and interesting game.

brylamare 2020-04-22 07:28

Had a lot of fun with this even though I could not figure out what to do haha, I crafted lots of ammo, got granny to follow me, and killed the same guys over, but couldn't seem to figure out where to go. The visuals are astounding in this game, great job art team. The music ambiance is really cool, gets you locked in.

abregado 2020-04-22 07:36

Very nice! Massive map to explore and relaxing music. I couldn't figure out what the minions were for apart from just being meat(veg) shields.

has 2020-04-22 07:39

Very cool and fun game with a cool visual style. Implementation of the idea at a high level. As a child, I loved playing games like this. It is very cool.

wowa 2020-04-22 10:34

WOW! I can only repeat what the others said, IMPRESSIVE!

soldierbear 2020-04-22 11:20

This is an extremely polished game for an LD game :D A very impressive submission!

jamesolivermusic 2020-04-22 12:06

Music is amazing! As a composer myself I was impressed with how it was written and produced. I love the transitions between different zones as well. Most of the fx were great as well, except the sound when an enemy hits you which needs another couple of variations as to not become overly repetitive. Graphics are beautiful as well. As a package you've all achieved a lot for such a short time period, and I wouldn't be surprised if this lands in the top 10, it certainly does in my books!

rusty-jim 2020-04-22 13:05

Outstanding work! Definitely one of the best I've seen this jam! The music is outstanding and the sheer scale of this thing for 72h of work is just absurd. A great start and I would LOVE to play a full version one day. I simply CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF THE ONION MINIONS.

nek 2020-04-22 14:21

The art is amazing.

jin9310 2020-04-22 14:22

Art, sound and content wise this is really amazing! It is impressive that you were able to implement even few quests! Only thing I would say against is that the theme is represented only by the health of main character. But this is hardly a complaint. Great job!

red-ash 2020-04-22 15:04

Art is super cool! Impressive work youve done for this jam. Gameplay is pretty cool too, i like shooting the creatures!

drums 2020-04-22 15:30

So much to this game, its amazing the amount of content. I love the audio design! I was wishing for unlimited ammo, even if it was weak. Good game!

thibaud-ligneul 2020-04-22 15:59

Unfortunately I can't launch the game, I want to test your game so bad! The music and art-style are so good!

elisee 2020-04-22 16:14

@thibaud-ligneul What seems to be the problem? Can you press F12 and report any errors you see? Hit me up on Twitter @elisee if you want to troubleshoot.

patsui 2020-04-22 16:43

Amazing graphics and great music & sfx. The setting seems interesting. I think the world was too big and confusing so I had trouble navigating and finding stuff. The characters seemed intriguing. Good job!

deathbysnail 2020-04-22 17:24

That soundtrack is so lit 🔥🔥🔥

rlods 2020-04-22 17:32

well done !

darkmax14 2020-04-22 17:37

Gorgeous art and sound, very impressive result for a Jam in such short time

isayneigh 2020-04-22 17:53

Impressive to have been made in 3 days. I don't have much feedback, everything was so good. I could see myself buying this for the Switch. Incredible job.

dedicave 2020-04-22 17:57

Amazing! Gorgeous art, nice music and sound desing. The game looks so clean and polished that it seems like you guys worked for months. Good work!

thibaud-ligneul 2020-04-22 18:03

After learning you can navigate the menu with arrow keys (I was trying to click...), I managed to launch the game. Amazing game overall. Sweet sweet music, and gorgeous art. Downsides: I wish I could know what I'm crafting beforehand, and that the the 3 minions where a bit different  Also I didn't quite understand the story and how it fits this jam's theme. This aside, the abundance of plant meant that I never felt in trouble, but having to craft ammo was sufficient to create an interesting gameplay loop. The missions are nice, and the characters funny. It looks like a retail game to me, maybe expand the map and the missions and your good to go!

jazambuja 2020-04-22 18:08

Nice game, love the art style, pixel art is very treaky to master, congratulations

duke 2020-04-22 18:09

Impressive entry! The art is gorgeous (reminds me alot of zelda 3) and the soundtrack kicks ass. Really adds a lot to the mood. There isn't really much I could critize on those merits. Game play wise, it wors great as well. Shooting is satisfying and the craftig mechanics work fluently.

The main issue I had was the mostly barren world. Would've been awesome to have more content in it or have the content, that is there, a little more dense. I never knew if there was a possibilty to get through an obstacle or it wasn't part of the experience. I was running around alot only to get into a dead end. Enemies are rare and I only encountered one type so far.

On a technical level, there is also something I could provide as feedback: * The frame in the website where your game runs is not fitting the native resolution of your game, so the pixels are distorted a little. The pixel art is so beautiful so it pains me to see it treated like that * Some of the objects in the map have z-index issues (signs or some pillars) where the pc wasn't rendered behind it correctly

Awesome entry nontheless. Great work!

jlelez 2020-04-22 19:12

It's a nice job ! Gameplay, Graphisms, Sounds, Story are cool ! Bravo à vous les gars ;)

docgeraud 2020-04-22 19:37

Beau boulot ! :)

grtodaro 2020-04-22 20:30

Graphics and sounds are fantastic, but I haven't understood the role of the vegetables that you can shot.

loicroger 2020-04-22 21:11

C'est super classe! impressionnant de tomber ça en si peu de temps! j'ai rigolé dès le premier son de shoot de graine :)

tmpvoid 2020-04-22 23:23

Absolutely amazing work! Really good graphics and adorable animations, great sound effects and lovely music. Got pure zelda vibes in the misty forest bit, both from the graphics and the music. Gameplay wise I didn't quite get what the craftable companions did, and I got put off at the start because I overlooked the note about how to craft, so I got stuck on the first quest :D Very much liked the plant theme as well :)

lajazuve 2020-04-23 01:02

I want to see this game complet, the gameplay hype me so much and, it's so beautiful

lukas-mayer 2020-04-23 01:05

The color palette is amazing, creates a really good mood.

fianchetto 2020-04-23 01:18

It is a nice game, the mechanics are well done and the art is very consistent. It would be necessary to fix the movement issue only (It remains for the pos XD)

levi 2020-04-23 01:25

What a very unique mechanic! I felt very overloaded and stressed the whole time, which was great fun! At one point the lock button on the phone screen slid off all the way to the left, but that was only a minor issue. The graphics were great and the use of sound was perfect.

hiremedeveloper 2020-04-23 05:55

reallly pretty game :)

dev-dwarf 2020-04-23 05:56

Amazing art direction for a jam game, the sound/music/animation is all stunning. Didn't really understand how it fit with the them though to be honest. That being said, I'd love to see it as a longer game!

dummydojo 2020-04-23 08:32

Great art. I liked the crafting mechanic. As it is, its not very fun, but I can see this as a full game.

jayesstee 2020-04-23 09:25

Lovely art and music and an interesting crafting mechanic for your ammo!

blackgoku36 2020-04-23 09:52

Nice graphics and good gameplay. Maybe it the goal of the game should be clearer and the overall gameplay could be shorter?

borodaolen 2020-04-23 11:28

Very cool game! Good job.

shadow30 2020-04-23 12:15

I love your soundtrack it is really cool! The gameplay is fun but the follow mechanics are a bit tedious. A better path finding would be great. Sometimes my followers were stuck. I managed to save three friends.

The art and animations are so beautiful! Excellent entry!

hectorpather 2020-04-23 12:32

Amazing art and very good music, the three last ammo which spawn companion are a bit unclear but the content created in this short amount of time is really impressive.

snowirbis 2020-04-23 12:46

Everyone says it's a good game, but I don't understand, I get a quest but I have no idea what to do and the game isn't helping me.

I killed monsters 'till I had no ammo, and that was it.

May be an information is missing in the game ?

Edit: ofc do not hesitate to at me and I can give it another chance

Edit: Much better once you know you can craft ammos  but yeah the goals are not clear enough and my road was blocked many times Still incredible for a game jam though !

mathemagician 2020-04-23 13:00

Whoa this is gorgeous. I had some trouble figuring out what I was supposed to do, and ran into an issue where the text was almost impossible to read in full-screen mode (it was fine once I exited), but on the whole it was a super enjoyable experience

bigsylvain 2020-04-23 13:35

@snowirbis you can craft ammos with the plants you collect, hold shift to open the crafting menu! I agree the quests are not really explicit, we implemented them 2 hours before the deadline :/ The post-jam version is where we are adding the real fun in the gameplay ^^

bigsylvain 2020-04-23 13:39

@blackgoku36 yes it would have been more fun to have a clearer goal and faster gameplay, we always overestimate our goals for the ldjams and can't finish it on time

mechanicallife 2020-04-23 16:12

Very impressive, especially the presentation, art, sound and music! I managed to beat the game eventually and it's surprisingly long at that. Not sure if I found all the friends or not, but hey, what can you do: smile: That said, there were a few question marks for me. I never really understood what the point of the monsters I could craft was, they didn't seem to do anything for me. Might just be me missing something obvious not sure.

lucasp8 2020-04-23 16:54

Wow, the art is awesome, the music is really good too, it's an impressive amount of work for a game jam! I got lost sometimes, I could have used a map. But great entry!

ysopprod 2020-04-23 17:21

The game looks great, but I don't really get how it fits the theme

saadsirius 2020-04-23 18:05

First of all god damn your main menu looks absolutely amazing,I loved the art, loved the music overall a very polish experience, also i noticed that sometimes BG music suddenly stops in certain areas, few areas of improvement i thought were controls they feel very basic and 1 dimensional and the character speed doesn't feel ryt also i personally think there should have been some kind of map or quest tracker still overall i really liked the game, keep up the good work guys and good luck with the ratings

malai 2020-04-23 20:34

Cant believe how detailed the whole map was, also fully packed with that great pixel art! Great atmospheric music and the controls felt very smooth, only excluding the followers, they got stuck everywhere (in the jam version).

artist-hidihojoe 2020-04-23 21:26

this music is excellent!!!

elisee 2020-04-23 22:09

Hi everyone!

Thanks so much for the kind comments, we're glad you're liking the game.

We released a postjam build that is much improved, has even more content and fixes most of the things you reported... We're still working on a possible minimap & quest log, so more updates are coming!

Make sure to **choose the LD46 version for rating** 📑, but when you're done, if you like it, **pleaaaaase enjoy the improved version too**! 😄💖

yeti-kid 2020-04-23 22:49

Really well made game, you guys clearly have a great chemistry! Artwork was beautiful, the music works really well too. All in all great game, not sure if I finished all the quests but had a great time! Good Job!!!

peachtreeoath 2020-04-23 22:56

Impressive game as always, this is the game for people that love exploration. It was always a joy to see new areas and hear new themes. I was always really intrigued when a new quest character popped up because they had so much personality to them.

Was the purpose of the minions to make sure your friends didn't take damage? They were so fragile I'd be surprised if anyone 100%'d this game. I think it's possible but it would take a long time with very careful play. I'll revisit this game after LD rating is over and try to do a full completion, though I'm scared of losing someone at the very end lol.

Side note, probably the funniest thing I've seen this LD is the grandma just POPPING like 20 seconds into venturing out into the world. I actually thought that was part of the joke til the end ship told me I needed them...

roz 2020-04-23 23:25

Greeeeat! I don't mind not having a minimap, it's interesting to not know where it will leads you, it's like going through a maze. I understood crafting pretty quicly, everything great, but probably i'm stupid because i got stuck on money quest, i found the money but i just don't know how to give it to the character :D would be nice if i could drag it from the inventory and drop it on the character, but nothing i tried worked, so i feel sorry and stupid :D but i'm looking forward to play finished version :)

Edit: okay, my bad, that wasn't money :D i've saved most of the characters, but i think i haven't found all of them. Great game tho, i spend on it like two and a half hours, insane! And as a animator i really appreciate how unique those NPCs are with their's visuals and movements.

taffyko 2020-04-24 01:40

this is awesome! you all accomplished far more than i could have expected together with this entry, so great work! honestly so much to unpack, but you all killed it in every category! and i'm glad to hear that you're continuing work on the post-jam version 'cause it's definitely worth expanding!

pekolio 2020-04-24 11:01

waynetron 2020-04-24 12:40

The visuals and the music are great. It's incredible the scope of this for a 3 day game, even with such a large team. Who organised everyone? They should probably get an extra credit!

The crafting mechanic didn't do it for me. I really like the idea behind it, but I think in it's current form picking up plants to craft bullets is really just picking up bullets with extra steps. There is definitely something really interesting there though and worth exploring further.

tom-robson 2020-04-24 18:06

Pretty good entry overall. The presentation was stellar! The art was lovely, the music amazing for a jam, and it felt great to play most of the time.

There were a few issues I had though. - I was lost for most of the time I spent playing. I just didn't know where to go. I must have spent a good 20 minutes just running around areas I've already been, until I eventually found the right path. I feel like adding a map, compass, or just some directions from the NPCs themselves would solve this, then at least I can have some idea of where to go. - I found myself getting caught on edges a lot. Never to the point where it ruined the experience, but enough to the point that it got annoying. - Both enemies and friendly NPCs were always getting caught on things. I feel like the idea was to have a big gang of friends following you around but their pathfinding meant that, at least for me, they always got caught on stuff before I could get more than 2 of them together. (Obviously though, it's LD, 72 hours isn't much time to go about adding complicated pathfinding, so I totally get why this would be a thing)

Please don't get the wrong impression from this comment though, I had a lot of fun playing the game! I feel that with a bit of polish and development post-jam, you'd have a really great little game! Everyone involved should be proud!

taran-unraveler 2020-04-24 22:38

Had fun playing this game, I tried to have a ton of minions to help me. Well done guys, this was a great entry!

maytch 2020-04-24 23:36

Very nice looking atmospheric game! I agree with everything @tom-robson said, but it's definitely a post-jam material game that could iron those things out.

coatline 2020-04-25 00:11

Fun! Not quite sure what the minions were for, but boy were they cute. I ended up using all of my plants just to by up to 50 minions just for the fun of it. Great presentation! You almost had a full on Zelda game there! One thing was that I was lost for a lot of the time. Maybe add some sort of map? Though I can't complain with this amount of content already in such a short amount of time, even with the team you had! Great job!

recursor 2020-04-25 00:11

The gameworld was so big I got lost a few times though I enjoyed seeing more of the map. There were several "closed" areas which I guess you guys plan on finishing up later? I wasn't sure exactly what the NPCs were supposed to do when they followed me around. All but "Mom in Law" died as I drug them around. I was most sad about grandma though. Poor grandma ... The enemies respawned a bit too quickly for my taste, but the music and graphics and NPCs were great. Lots of organization and coordination for such a large team and it was cool to get to play what the team produced in 3 days.

kunonooni 2020-04-25 01:42

What and amazing game! The music was outstanding and I loved how each area had its own music. The plant based crafting system was really cool as was being able to craft minions to help you. I can't believe how big the map was and all the different areas you created. This was a very impressive game!

dingotime 2020-04-25 03:04

Beautiful game! Great music too! Really impressive for such a short time.

g-a-gamestudio 2020-04-25 03:19

The graphics in this game were amazing! I didn't find it as fun though as it got boring and repetitive because you collect crops, make ammo, kill enemies, and move on and this cycle repeats.

jacksgamessucks 2020-04-25 11:02

great game! congratulations. i love it. so complete and all pieces work together. good job!

nicko-klyukay 2020-04-25 11:21

Music is great! And I like craft system.

zyow 2020-04-25 16:57

As always with your team, the artsytle and audio are awesome. The gameplay is really well finished for a game made in 72 hours even if it's a bit complicated to understand. I really want to see how far you can go with this game. Good job!

drevilbrain 2020-04-26 08:27

Really would love to see a full release of this game. It looks great and sounds great, but definitely could use more work to make it into a full game!

jishin 2020-04-26 09:56

Wow, very impressive, it can easily become a commercial title! The atmosfere is great, being done in 72 hours makes this even more spectacular!

clu 2020-04-26 12:51

Pwaaa the music is very good! Is it possible to release an album in 72 hours? Well done! The pixel art is very impressive. GG team!

randomhuman 2020-04-26 19:24

Really great stuff - excellent art and music, and quite complex gameplay for a jam. I couldn't find a way to make progress on all of the quests I encountered, but I really enjoyed what I played anyway. Good work team!

nutriz 2020-04-26 20:10

Yeah french game devs :). Very impressive for a 3 day jam. I was constraint to stop the game 2 times because after hitting the tab key my caracheer keeping going down infinitely :(. Maybe Firefox is in cause.

kuiefs 2020-04-26 22:06

This was a lot of fun! Great work on the design! Maybe add a dash so we can get around the island a bit faster :) Thanks for the entry!

Lovely aesthetic. I love that the music and art support each other to create a vibrant mood. Honestly I enjoyed just walking around and seeing the world you all built together, and especially just listening to the music in each area. The gameplay was a little overwhelming at first, but I eventually understood how it all fit together. Great job everyone! The fact that you put out something so cohesive as a team of 7 is an incredible feat in its own right.

Amazing graphics and sound! You've managed to create a whole little world in 72h timespan. Definitelly one of the best looking games I've seen in this jam. Good job!

It is hard to complain about anything here - the game is nicely polished. I feel, it can easily be extended into a bigger game - all core mechanics are already implemented, so it is all about the efforts on content.

franklins-ghost 2020-04-27 13:49

Most polished entry I've played so far, doesn't even feel like you're playing a 72hr jam game. Impressed out how much work was put into this. The art and music are fantastic and work so well together. Would be good if you could also move around using the arrow keys as I struggle using the trackpad and other keys.

A worthy indie project that has been done for weeks. Good graphics, nice music and simple animations create an unforgettable atmosphere.

Really nice art and music. The quests are interesting also. Well done.

gamescodedogs 2020-04-28 12:01

Thanks for the game!

Art is incredible!

sticmac 2020-05-01 20:43

One word: WOW! How did you succeed to make this during the jam? That’s insane! The art and music are simply wonderful! And even if I honestly felt a bit lost and not really knowing what to do past picking up the first character, I simply loved the atmosphere of the game, as much as his artistic direction! I think you offered us one of the most polished games of the jam, and I think you definitely deserve to be in the top 10 in several categories

Et un peu de français parce que voilà : putain bravo les gars vous avez tout géré c’est dingue !

puppetmaster 2020-05-02 10:28

A really great game, music and sound effects give the game a great mood. Unfortunately it was a little lost. No idea why this guy is following me and why I have to create an onion guy. I think in this area the game could be improved otherwise flawless!

winniehell 2020-05-02 21:32

Awesome game, can't believe you did this within a game jam—it felt really complete!

I loved the big map to explore. Sometimes it was so big that I wished for an overview though.

The enemies felt a bit too easy to defeat (but maybe that was intended?). However all my friends died because I wasn't able to get close enough to enemies to shoot but far enough for my friends not to be hit.

I had plenty of minions and they often got in my way or stuck at a bridge (then reappeared after a while). Overall not too bad though.

They music was so great that I'm likely to buy it on bandcamp. (actually more :heart_ears:  )

Good job on this submission!

This game was really nice! could have used some more feedback like where to go, what to do, etc. Other then that I really enjoyed it!

bigsylvain 2020-05-03 15:54

@winniehell Thanks for the kind words  If you want to just listen to the music, it is also available on http://soundcloud.com/moonchimes/sets/woodpunk-ost

We're working on the post-jam version of the game, enemies will be more diverse and some very hard to kill

Lovely presentation and great character design and theme. Missed the instructions initially so was quite confused at first, my bad but would be nice if they were in game. World seemed a little empty and easy to get lost in, a bit more direction would be nice if you develop it more. Overall, enjoyed it and it has great potential!

It's insane the amount of work you guys put in. I loved the music and vibe of the game. I liked the small panels/Comic strip at the start of the game I just wished it was also used to give more direction about the goals. All in all, I think it's a fairly solid entry, I'm impressed. Good job guys.

Lovely graphics, great game. I included it in my Ludum Dare 46 compilation video series, if you want to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/p2lUl96x8_U

I don't know what to say that hasn't been said a million times already. This is absolutely incredible.

flynn 2020-05-07 19:20

Love it! I really enjoy games involving crafting and collecting stuff. And you guys did a perfect job combining it with top down shooter. Art and music are fantastic!

mattwoelk 2020-05-09 12:42

This game is so huge! Finding that gap in the wall threw me for a bit, but it was smooth sailing after that! I like the option to just say "I found enough people, let's go". :P :) Very wonderful!

nabo369 2020-05-09 13:57

I enjoyed every moment of this game and was really surprised with how much I could explore and how many different monsters there where in the game. Absolutely fantastic job!

strega 2020-05-09 23:49

Nice top-down exploration game. The art is well done. The map is nice and large! I ran around all over the place making a bunch of plant friends and collecting NPCs. There was some cases where I could walk through the walls of the castle, but it didn't seem to break anything. I wasn't too sure what the goal was, but I eventually made it to the boat and won.

kusaihana 2020-05-10 09:11

the interface is so clean and pretty! amazing job :) sprouts!

notexplosive 2020-05-10 19:54

There is a LOT of content here! Especially for a Ludum Dare game. Every inch of it looks great and sounds pretty good too! However it took me multiple attempts and reading the itch page description to figure out how to craft, which is a pretty essential part of the game. Perhaps binding the crafting menu to the right mouse button would have made it more discoverable?

I didn't complete a single quest in the game. I would get a quest, not understand how to complete it, and then move onto the next area. I figured out what Onion Minions were and how to create them about 2 areas in and didn't feel like backtracking to complete the first quest. Maybe Granny could have mentioned something about "Pressing shift to open your crafting menu." Fourth wall breaking but entirely necessary for gameplay. Likewise, all of the enemies could be summarized as "click on them until they die," regardless of what type of ammo I was using. It seemed some enemies weren't even worth killing since they'd either just stand there or were easy to evade.

The world design is well done. It feels like an open world and yet I was constantly able to progress and continue onto the next area. I never felt lost. I made it all the way to the boat, where I was promptly stuck because I didn't know where to find planks. There appeared to be some planks in the basement of the castle area right before the boat but I think those planks were decorative planks and not quest item planks.

All this being said, this is an incredibly ambitious Ludum Dare game and I'm extremely impressed with how much game you managed to get out of the weekend.

spyri 2020-05-11 19:57

Absolutely lovely game, I've played the post ludum dare so I won't give feedback on issues you've already fixed. I'd say that a way to see your current quests as to check if you've obtained an item would be nice. This is such a nice ground for a full release, hope you keep working on it. Was the graphics inspired by Atomicrops?

louiejams 2020-05-12 11:00

Really lovely music and nice, simple artstyle! Abit vague on what the player is suposed to do, I figured out how to give the onion minion to the Granny, but shortly after she started following me, they kept getting stuck on terrain and eventually I lost the Granny. I'm not sure if the creatures got her as there wasn't any notifications about her or anything.

I stopped playing shortly after the guy asked me to find money. You've said that the project is unfinished so so not sure how much there was to do for the player here.

I raly like the crafting system you have here, after I figured out how simple it was to work, I was hardly ever out of ammo. It made sense in that world, that the plants would grow back rather than finding ammo packets on the ground!
