LD46 — Keep it alive

Good stuff! Cute style and nice music :) Managed to find all the birds, though it took me a while to figure out that some rooms have a map, and not being able to just turn around in a few rooms made it a bit frustrating to explore and find the last bird. Overall I think the difficulty was fun - the rooms where you had to leave the way you came were particularly tricky. One suggestion I'd have for the controls is having some sort of acceleration. That'd make fine adjustments easier, since you wouldn't start at the full steer speed immediately. Screenshot 2020-04-22 at 18.20.08.png

Damn this gets tricky fast! I'm not sure that the turn limit adds anything to the game other than frustration, at least without a "turn undo". Also at least on mac, this was surprisingly laggy :/ The concept seems solid though!

What a great little experience :) The tasks weren't super exciting, but having a something to do that built up into a little story arc felt nice. And the art style felt pretty fitting for such a cozy game! I got used to the controls at the end, though at the start I did a lot of aiming up very high because I kept holding W after taking off. That context switch of the input is a bit strange.

Lovely stuff! Simple but enaging mechanic, and all aspects are well executed. The only issue I had was that I had a hard time guessing the function of some of the placeable items because the pixel art made them a bit vague. Nothing that a few test runs couldn't fix though :)

Super cool concept! I definitely think that this would be worth expanding on in the future :) The main thing I'd note that was detracting from the experience was that hitting the walls with the cursor made the mouse jitter. If you did work on it more I think that'd be the main element to improve. Apart from that, I managed to skip what seemed like about half of level 3 because I could see the orb through a hole in the ceiling :D

This feels like a really cohesive and complete little game :) In terms of balance, it was pretty easy to keep two plants alive, after I had lost the third and finally understood what temperature did. If you wanted to expand on it there'd definitely be room for more ramping difficulty, and then maybe upgrades to improve over time? Great work overall!

Absolutely amazing work! Really good graphics and adorable animations, great sound effects and lovely music. Got pure zelda vibes in the misty forest bit, both from the graphics and the music. Gameplay wise I didn't quite get what the craftable companions did, and I got put off at the start because I overlooked the note about how to craft, so I got stuck on the first quest :D Very much liked the plant theme as well :)

Neat little idea, especially the flower building from seeds. It's a bit unfortunate that most combinations seemed to create the same flower, and I couldn't quite figure out any rules so I got stuck on the green flower task :/ Nice graphics though, and having the different characters with dialogue adds some good structure.

Space Support by Jaacob 2020-04-22T22:38:25Z

This is impressively polished for a jam game! The graphics and sound are lovely, and the gameplay is simple but a good core loop. I really think that this could be expanded on really well if you wanted to. The only issues I had were that the meteor storms can get chaotic enough that I didn't feel like I could do much dodging, especially given the area I could view in relation to my steering ability. Also, it took me a round to exactly understand what the UI was meant to mean, I thought at first that the station damage on the hexagons was some sort of progress bar on producing a good. That could maybe be made a little more clear. Good stuff overall though, played it multiple times :)

Nice little game! I quite liked the wavy grass :) The bees were a bit hard to react to once they all swarmed the flowers, and the window resizing based on the level side caused some light glitching for me :/ Still, solid entry :)

All Systems Grow [LD46: KEEP IT ALIVE] by itsandyjones 2020-04-24T17:57:38Z

Simple but clean graphics and a well executed premise :) Maybe this is a personal preference, but I would've preferred the player movement to have a little bit of acceleration (i.e. your speed ramps up a little as you start moving), which I find makes it easier to do the little position adjustments that are necessary at this difficulty.

This was really lovely! The art is great, with lots of great details (the bow animation is cool, revealing the background based on your position is a neat effect). Re-using the same narrative fragments when going either direction, and making it loop in the end was especially cool! I think that the slingshot mechanic is fun, but overall the gameplay is a little lacking to be fully engaging. Still, it worked fit well with the narrative, which was definitely the centerpiece :)

Robot Walk by tmpvoid 2020-04-23T15:11:46Z

@mrabnox Funny that you reference that, because that was certainly one of the inspirations! The first version of this idea actually had you climb around in the robot in a side-on view, but in the end top-down fit better with what I had planned for the rest of the game :)

Robot Walk by tmpvoid 2020-04-23T15:13:50Z

@lamasaurus Thank you! I spent a long time on the robot movement. In contrast the camera zoom was added an hour or so before submission, I'm glad that I got it in :)

Robot Walk by tmpvoid 2020-04-24T17:08:46Z

@coda-highland Thank you! Yep, all custom-made. I wrote a bit about the details of it here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/robot-walk/robot-walk-post-mortem Regarding audio, I didn't get to it. Disabling audio rating is a fair point, thanks :)

Kakyuumari / カキュウマリ by studioNOKOI 2020-04-22T17:46:11Z

Nice idea, and a lovely intro! My main issue is the camera, it kept jittering all over the place which made the game hard to look at for a long time. I feel like if you were controlling the sphere instead of the character that would be much smoother. Also not sure whether the timer was super necessary, I never got to what I feel like would've been the super fun part (picking up whole trees). Nice work overall though!
