Controls are immensely satisfying and the graphics and effects are top-notch. So polished! The Downwell vibe is strong with this one ;)

Incredible atmosphere and really fun puzzle mechanic! Looks can be deceiving though as it is quite challenging also haha! Great job, love it!
Awesome graphics and retro style. Like others have noted however, the presence of SFX and music would improve the game immensely. I really liked the movement mechanics, controls and the character animations. But the way these mechanics are implemented with the enemy spawning just doesn't feel right and is more frustrating than fun.
Hmm not too sure on this one. On the one hand the graphics and effects are very good, and it fits the theme nicely. In practice, it's very hard to play due to the controls and the core mechanic is a little poorly explained and becomes frustrating :(
Really original concept for a puzzle game! Had quite a bit of fun with this one, though I felt like I was fighting the controls and collision a majority of the time :/
Fantastic entry! A one-button game shouldn't be this fun! Awesome graphics, music and atmosphere. And just like IRL, there's nothing quite as satisfying as a perfect shave :D
Simple mechanic superbly executed! Really fun, I got too greedy -_- haha
Fantastic, but needs to be longer!
Really fun and original take on a classic and often overdone genre, and the ultraball mechanic fits the theme really well! Great job!
My eyes have never been treated to such a delicious graphical delight! Beautiful! Fun gameplay and great use of projectiles but could use some unique bosses to spice things up a little bit!
Incredible doggo physics and animations! Had a blast playing this one, absolutely adorable; would be even better with sound!
Absolutely fantastic in all areas! Would perhaps benefit from some sort of win state or break in the gameplay, like a day/clock system and try to beat your previous day's score.
Haha this was fantastic! Well done!
Cute and charming as hell, I just wanna crawl into bed rn ^-^
Spectacular in all areas, one of my favourites of this jam. Would pay for this as a full game for sure :D
Love the graphics and the wrapping mechanic, but I feel it doesn't fit theme all that well. Fun platformer experience nonetheless
Fantastic use of the theme! Everything about this game is slick as heck, though I am really bad at puzzles and did not get very far :|
Had a bit of a hard time getting the controls, but a fun concept. I liked how powerful I felt with the giant sword :D
Great platformer controls and a superb use of the theme. Some expertly designed puzzle levels for sure though some jumps were super hardcore!
Adorable pixel art kittens and some fun auto-runner mechanics. Wish it was longer!
This was a delightful game! Very good use of the theme. Incredibly fun and original gameplay, that is iterated on very cleverly through the use of new enemy designs and something as simple as increasing the tempo of the song. The accompanying audio design was fantastic considering the scope. With some flashier graphics and more content I could see this being a successful commercial title :D
Oh my god what an ending! :D This was fantastic all around. Graphics and audio are on point. Gameplay was astonishingly intuitive and very fun. Those damn shoelaces tripped me up more than once
Really innovative and cool game! Excellent use of theme, probably one of the best I've played so far. I found the difficulty to be a little punishing but maybe I just don't have a big enough brain for these types of puzzles! It gets difficult to manage sliding the pieces while the bebe is walking. But honestly I think that is just a personal preference thing.
Great graphics and audio that fit well. Really a solid entry all around, you be very proud of this one :)
Simple and fun arcade score chaser! Very clever use of the theme, really liked this one. The isometric art was very efficient and super charming. However one thing I'd like see improved is definitely the sfx. Nice background music, but the sound effects really drown it out and they become repititive/annoying very quickly. Other than that though, a very good job!
Beautiful and moody game about relationships, a very interesting take on the theme!
I really wanted to love this game more than I did. I found the puzzles to be too obtuse in their solutions, though I guess this is just a common pitfall of the P&C adventure genre. The collision when reassembling the photo and the message was also rather wonky and a bit unsatisfying. But I adored everything else. The pixel art, and cutscene animations were truly lovely to behold. Great music to set the mood also.
Great work!
Really adorable graphics and audio. Fantastic atmosphere!
I personally struggled with the controls a bit. It was a bit fiddly with just the two buttons. Could use a little more direction as a player, I accidentally killed the guy near the chickens (due to the controls) and couldn't figure how to get an egg :( But overall I found the sun/water/food mechanics to be a great idea and everything feels and looks really juicy! Good job!
Woah! Crazy polished for a jam game. Moment to moment gameplay was really great, but I sort of struggled with the quests and the NPC's (why do some follow you and others don't?), and just navigating the map in general. Audio and graphics, incredible. Great work all around
What a clever concept! Good job thinking outside the box.
Really interesting take on a classic formula. The reversal of the traditional mechanics really tripped me up at first, especially trying to hit the connections between the batteries correctly. But it once all starts clicking, it becomes a very addictive and fast-paced score chaser experience with a weirdly strategic layer over the top. The art and audio were a little rough but hey it's a compo entry! Would be very interested in seeing more of this funky little arcade game.
I'm usually not a huge fan of the PICO-8 graphic style, but you pulled it off really well with this entry. Very tight and addictive platformer gameplay. It was a clever use of the theme to use lighting as a core mechanic and there was some very interesting things you did with it, particularly with the waterfalls. My one major gripe would probably be that the lighting coupled with the low resolution often made it difficult to navigate the stages, and that was pretty frustrating given the tough-as-nails/pixel-perfect platformer gameplay. But overall this was a very fun game that kept me hooked through to the end :)
Very cute graphics and sounds. I enjoyed playing this game, quite addictive!
@blaiserascal Thank you and thanks for checking out the game! :) So in the first image, that is an intentional rule of the design. The egg can be called up through platforms but not down through them. So the correct solution would be to hold the egg and jump down through the platform.
Now as for the second image, that is in fact a bug! The radius for calling the egg is a bit tricky. Being a 72 hour jam, not everything is going to be perfect, right? Haha But the good news is, I have just uploaded a new build with fixes for this specific issue and a few other collision-related glitches! Calling the egg is now much more responsive :D
Big thanks to everyone who has played the game so far! Thank you all for your kind words and feedback :)
@herman-chau Yeah I'd really like to build the game out in the future with some Super Mario-style 'Worlds' to sort of group the mechanics and flesh them out more individually. Add some new mechanics and bosses too!
As for tools, coded in GMS2; art was made in Aseprite and Tilesetter Lite; I used Abundant Music generator for the music with a Gameboy soundfont applied through SynthFont; and I made all the sound fx with bfxr :)
Neat little platformer you have here! Very stylish :)
First off, the pixel art is fantastic! Just a great retro vibe all around with some great color choices. The art is also really well accompanied by those wonderful chiptunes and sfx!
However on a more critical note, I felt the game was lacking in a few areas. Namely the controls were a bit strange (1 to shoot?), and could have used some in-game prompting. Might just be my machine but the movement of the player character was also rather... stiff? sudden? Something about it just felt off and I couldn't get my jumps right. I'll also say the game was rather short, would have liked to play a bit more :/
Keep up the good work!
Great little mashup of two arcade puzzlers here! The graphics and audio were great, just a really fun and colorful retro atmosphere. I felt that the paddle control was a little wonky and required too much of an accelerated mouse swing to really influence the dude's movement, but when it did influence it, it was way too strong of an angle. Coin collection was nice and juicy. But overall a very fun and cute idea I'd like to play more of.
This is a great concept and I liked the core gameplay. The pace of the game was very hectic and difficult, and I feel this clashed a bit with the relaxing mood of the game. I agree with an above comment who recommended the use of the mouse wheel to keep the flow, but under the circumstances what you have implemented works fine. Nice polish and I loved the shoutout to your gf along with the pic. With a bit more work, this could be something really special. Great job :)
Art and music is super polished here! Very fun retro experience! This one had a great atmosphere, and some sweet mechanics to play around with (those cannons!). This could just be personal preference but it felt like the player movement was a little too fast/floaty. Could use a smoother acceleration on the run perhaps. I also think the game tried to fit the theme of the jam but fell a little short. The battery recharge mechanic was pretty underused in the game and was probably the least fun mechanic. I think overall the game would be a more enjoyable experience without the draining health aspect. Really great work though, extremely polished for a jam game :D
Well, hello fellow egg game maker!
Really liked the concept for this one (obviously) but felt it was a little lacking in execution. Controls were a little strange but that's a common issue with many jam games, understandable. I think the throw controls might be improved by having the action button do a forward throw by default, and down+action drop the item.
I enjoyed the fast pacing of quick deaths/restarts but felt the overall difficulty was rather steep from the get-go. I got as far as the blocks that come up and down, but could not seem to throw the egg to safety over the gap without breaking it. I don't know if I was just completely missing the correct solution, but it seemed like the egg was just a bit too fragile. The physics/movement/collision of the objects felt very smooth and satisfying though. There are many neat mechanics here that iterate on your core idea, and I think with a bit more polish to things like control/difficulty/graphics/audio it could become something really neat :)
Incredibly adorable game! Really novel use of a typing game mechanic. The general theme of the game feels very relatable right now! Overall, a really fun and polished entry :)
Woah! This game rocks :D
What a great entry. So polished and the most straight-up fun entry I've played yet! The gameplay loop is super satisfying and just feels buttery smooth. Very innovative take, feels like I'm playing some weird version of Plants Vs Zombies but with real-time action..? Very cool.
Graphics and audio are top tier as well and make me feel like I'm playing a forgotten gem released on the GBA or the DS. Bravo!
besides the footsteps being a bit loud, I enjoyed the game and the cinematics throughout it. The different endings encourages re-playability and I liked the look of the title screen too! :)
Wow this game was super fun! A really neat blend of two puzzle classics that work surprisingly well together. The art is very polished and has a nice cohesive style to it. Really chill and mellow atmosphere that gets me into the puzzle-solving mindset. I especially liked the levels with spikes where I was doing pathbuilding ahead of time or building reactively to keep up with the Lime, that was a very cool twist on the game's core mechanic.
Overall an awesome job and I think this game has a ton of potential for expansion! :D
Controls were a little confusing at first, but once it all clicked it into place it became very addictive and satisfying flow! Graphics and music were gorgeous and make me want to go out on my own adventure :)
Fun concept but I found the gameplay to be rather frustrating. I tried sitting on the couch to avoid the manager but it just gave a harsh error sound and the guy wouldn't sit. On the topic of sound, it was overall a rather unpleasant experience. I think some softer sound effects for interacting with things, as well as some background music could really improve the game. I will say though, there is some fun humor here and the hand-drawn art is very charming!
A simple yet fun little tower defense game. The units seemed a bit unbalanced but it was a very charming gameplay loop. I liked the simple graphics and audio, very cute. Could use a bit more juice with regards to animation and UI to keep the player engaged while playing.
Good use of the theme and great sounds effects. I feel if you guys had a bit more time to fit in a tutorial, that would of made the experience a little less frustrating at the start. This was fun to play around with, good job for your first ludum jam :)
This was fantastic! Just needs audio :D
