GREAT game. Amazing graphics, great gaming mechanism.

Now *this* is a good game. Presentation is flawless, although it is a bit annoying how it runs differently based on your screen refresh rate, might wanna point that out. Graphics are cute and functional, music is catchy, the fact you guys put in a rebind keys option says a lot to how much effort you put into this.
My one hangup is, it isn't the most original use of the theme I've ever seen. But even then, I'm hard pressed to say this isn't spectacular. Great job!
this game is fantastic. the platforming is very tight, and the levels are difficult while still remaining fun. it also looks fantastic, I especially love the 3D background. I do however wish the "Ultimate Lifeform" got at least one more level, he didn't really get much screen time in the game. Also I noticed that on level 11 the sound effect for when the switch turns on doesn't line up correctly for when the switches do turn on, which does mess up with my timing a little bit. this also isn't exactly the most creative use of the theme. great game regardless.
Amazing game! Great graphics and gameplay. Music is fantastic. Overall amazing job!
I'm really impressed with the final stage of this game. Looks like a gold version! This one I want to follow to see future updates.
And the invisible tutorial was perfect. 5/5
Amazing level design and graphics!! the gameplay left me a little lost but the game is fantastic!
Wow, this is an amazing entry! The graphics and level of polish on this one are above and beyond. Great tight platformer, and it even has secondary objectives! Great job!
Great work across the board. A beautiful game from graphics, sound, platforming, and level design. Overall, very polished and engaging!
Wow. Just wow. I am just in awe of the polish showing from a game made in such a short time frame. Bravo! Reminded me of super meat boy. Difficult, but not in a bad way. The controls are tight--the level design superb. Nice!
It's hard to believe this game was made in a single weekend, great job guys! I would say the difficulty is a *bit* hard. I couldn't get past level 10 and to be honest, I'm surprised I even made it that far lol.
pretty interesting game. took few minutes to get past test chamber, but then it got alot more difficult. graphics style is excellent. overall well executed game concept, and pretty fun to play.
Kickstarter for lab creature plushies please!
I probably shouldn't play games like this at 7am when I'm half-awake, I couldn't even beat Level 3. I couldn't get the hang of the wall-jumping mechanic, it feels like it takes you slightly too long to stick to the wall so you can make the jump.
The difficulty is probably my only complaint with this, though. Overall, it's extremely well-polished. The graphics are excellent, the sound design is excellent, and there are even little touches like remappable controls and secondary objectives. A very good game! Just wish I was better at it so I could see more of it :P
Couldn't get past the wall jump on level 3 either :/ not sure what I was doing wrong.
A very hard platformer with cute graphics and clever level design, and a high level of polish. Awesome music and graphics too ! I found the last character controlls kinda frustrating, especialy for the last level. Overall a very solid game, well done !
Also, rebinding of the controls was a very nice touch !
Game concept is wery fun!
This game is as cute as it is hard XD
funny game
The graphics in this are incredible. The levels are really unforgiving, but I can definitely see how they're possible - I'm just not very good at it lol. I feel like the wall jumping could use some work still? Just to make it a bit easier to navigate.
Great game. The audiovisual style is simply gorgeous - it's just not possible not to enjoy it. The controls are bit hard to master (especially the walljump), but apart from that issue, it's a very fun game to play.
I was waiting for this when I saw it on the discord. Didn't disappoint! Absolutely gorgeous graphics, adorable characters, great platformer mechanics that fit well with the theme, and the challenge was just right with the ducks to offer more in terms of challenge. Controls are slick and tight. One tiny nitpick is the wall jump felt a little counterintuitive at times where you'd get caught on a wall and start wall jumping in the opposite direction. Otherwise a really cool game, and managed to complete the game (the ducks are an entirely different story though!)
nice game, the graphics are great, the "platforming" feels good although it's hard but not the "controls fault" hard, which is good. really enjoyed this, especially with the different types of characters abilities, well done.
Edited to say I'm still playing it
Very innovative and varied platformer, would be lovely as a longer game where the difficulty ramps smoother. Also loved the graphics! Having a 3D background gave a sweet feeling of depth rather than parallaxing flats. Great entry overall. Nice work!
This game is really good. The pixel art style is very colorful and appealing. I enjoy all the cute designs for the various characters, and they're all so well animated. I like how all the different characters control, and combining them all together at the end is a neat idea. That said, the final character did feel a bit difficult to control, since all of the special moves are mapped to the same button. I felt like I always wound up fluttering when I wanted to dash. That aside, this is a very beautiful and well made game. Nice work!
Really well made. Loved almost everything about it. Bit more innovation wouldve been nice
Excelent work with animation's, controls and background, everything works really nice! amazing job!
Probably the first game that made me think that this site needs a 6th star, great submission ! The effort on the art is outstanding.
Really fun game with excellent polish!
That was really good! I always love a good platformer.
My main complaint was that the wall jump felt kind of clunky, although I've been playing Celeste, so I think I may be a little spoiled about that. Aside from that, the music was good, the sprites were cute (although it would've been nice to have different creatures instead of palette swaps), and the gameplay was pretty fun.
I got all the ducks!
clean game, i love the main menu title art movements
Awesome game! I has been a well-spent-halfhour .The music is great. I felt like playing megaman.
Amazing game, probably the best I've seen so far! Well done! Art work is amazing, levels are challenging and I'm very impressed with the amount of mechanics there was for a jam game. Great work! :)
I managed to beat the game somehow. And the game told me I failed 108 times and it was 'Not bad.'. Oh you! I love the retro-style and multiple-creatures feature. I can't be friends with the controls and timings. Also I've got a couple of glitches at the last level and that was a really hard level.
Here is my playthrough:
https://youtu.be/4ysiKlKhQ44
What I like: - Wonderful art and audio. - Cute, lighthearted theme. - Easy to grasp gameplay. I like how I was able to jump right into the action.
What I don't like: - Questionable control: you have to keep pressing against the wall to wall jump, which is quite different from most platformers. - Collision box is off, leading to frustrating fall/mistep. - The game is hard enough without the water filling mechanic. It didn't feel like a part of the game.
its coool and it looks good but the controls are some times a bit wired but overall its a good game
This is spectacular! Beautifully polished graphics and art! Wonderfully diverse gameplay with multiple characters. I wanna play a full game ;)
Beautiful game, fits in the theme, have a beautiful mechanic and level design, it is challanging and perfect.
Great challenging game. Small side-note that the game did run more than twice as fast on my 144Hz monitor.
Music is good, graphics are great. The controls just aren't great on keyboard and that makes it way to hard to really get into. You're relying so heavily on wall jumping and if you want to do that it really has to be super tight, if not it just kills all the fun. It's a shame because clearly a lot of work went into this, but shows how utterly absolutely important the controls are for a platformer like this.
Really cool. Music and graphics are great. The dragon character is really nice. Only real problem is that it seems to take to long for the character to "attach" to the wall in order to be able to walljump. This causes me to often press the jump key when touching the wall, only to find myself falling in the poisonous (I presume) waste below, because I had pressed the jump key too early. I feel like it would do the game good to work on making wall jumping more tight, in particular by making it possible to jump from a wall almost immediately after touching it.
This was quite a challenge to beat. On one hand it is a nice touch that you can adjust the controls, but it don't really help to get better, even with your favorite platforming settings. The wall jumps were a pain for me, but accept your mechanic and had to deal with it, and I did, it just took bit more time. Overall you did very nice job, the animations and art in general are great! And music is also very suitable and helps to build the mood. Great job guys!
I saw this on the itch.io page and the banner drew me in, haha. The art is great, I like what you did with the level backgrounds and the small details. I liked the crawling/walking animation.
I was able to beat it but I missed one duck on one of the middle levels (I tried dying on purpose but accidentally beat the level).
Overall the platforming is not bad but there are a couple things that made it pretty hard for me.
First is the wall jumping - You have to press against the wall to jump on it, even though you'll stick and slide down the wall anyway if the arrow isn't pressed. I would usually try and press the arrow in the opposite direction as I jumped off which would make me fall.
The double jump blocks were a bit confusing at first as I had to jump three(?) times before the blocks would alternate that correctly. Perhaps designing the level in a way where this happens naturally and then the player can figure out (The next red level did this a bit better I think by placing the duck across the gap so you jump twice).
For the jelly blocks, more often than not I would get bounced off the side of them. The bounce was also pretty strong that once you hit one and then bounced off another one it became very hard to recover from the bounces.
The hit boxes for the flying creatures also felt a bit big for me.
Anyway, keep up the good work! I like the amount of art polish you were able to get in.
A very high level of polish. Very professional. Very enjoyable and well presented as well. The sound guy did awesome here also. It seemed that the red lizard had lost the wall jump mechanic though.
Amazing work guys!
This has a distinct NES style to it from the graphics to the music which is all well done.
Very good. Controls felt a bit janky at times. It sometimes felt as if I was controlling a bipedal creature with a different sprite. Still a solid entry though.
This game looks incredibly well made, I love the music and the dragons look adorable!
Neat concept, solid graphics, fairly solid execution, but one of the **VERY** few games that inspires genuine frustration in me while playing, especially in Level 10. I'm a veteran of the N series (N/N+/N++) and went in expecting to be able to use most of that knowledge, and sorta got to. The wall cling is a bit too delayed and sticky (especially for the ridiculously fast pace you're supposed to go at), and the little lizard/dragon/whatever looking like they're dying/drowning so often definitely got to me on a psychological level. (I'm a huge sucker for "cute furry things", and little dragons are close enough.)
Frankly would've liked a more slow, puzzle-based ending that'd let you fight (and overcome) whoever runs the labs, but was glad when the end came nevertheless. Not going back in for the collectibles.
Most of these criticisms are probably on me - it *is* well-done and fairly polished, the pixel art is solid, the audio works, it has a nice enough set of levels, and so on.
really well made game - the controls need a little tweaking but i cant complain really - thanks so much for making it
Awesome game and execution! The audio is great and very fitting. The graphics are well done and very cute. I like the added details like the turn animation rather than just sprite flipping. The bumper blocks were the most frustrating mechanic, but overall well done.
Incredibly impressive. Loved the music, character design, pixel art and gameplay. Difficulty was perfect, even though there weren't too many levels. Only problem was the huge delay before you can walljump, but that's probably since I'm used to playing platformers where you can do that immediately.
Best game I've seen so far, honestly.
Great game! Loved the mechanic and the level design! One of the most fun games I've played this Ludum Dare, I'm sure you'll do well (and hope my last minute score will help push you even further towards winning :) )
A few small notes: 1) I felt the last creature was a little bit hard to control (it was hard for me to figure out when it will upwards dash versus when it will float). I feel like this is just because I didn't have enough time to experiment with him in easier / more relaxed levels. It might be nice to have a few more levels using the last creature, before the finale. 2) On my mac laptop there's no "del" key, so I wasn't sure how to reset my save data.
Good luck!
One more thing! The game ran more than 2x too fast on my system because my monitor refresh rate is 144hz. Wasn’t too much of an issue because I just switched PC, but worth mentioning.
