Wow the art is great! The sounds are great too!
I made it as far as the red area (Hell?) with all the towering demons and accidentally used all my soul by being a bit to keen with the sprinting
The art and sound really make this the best "mood" entry I've played so far and I think it'll be hard to top in that area. Great job!
The art style is amazing, and the sounds really add to the atmosphere, I like it. The level is quite huge also detailed for a 48-hrs game, it is a great work.
Art is amazing. Amazing job.
Awesome atmosphere and visuals. I do think the game turns into a bit of a walking simulator, where you walk, stop, walk, stop and so on. And why not just run all the time? But very cool.
Why health if there is no way to avoid threats? Also, do not make long empty spaces if the player is forced to stop every 5 seconds. But the graphic style ... I fell in love!
Very nice mood/atmosphere! Was the 3 spears the end, or did I just ef up? Loved the graphics :D Very nicely done.
@incd021 yeah that was the end~ In case you managed to sneak past (which I personally didn't manage, but just in case xD), you could then sacrifice yourself to a pit of doom, where you would die while falling.
I just wanted to thank everybody for their nice comments and feedback! I really appreciate it, I'm really happy to see that people think it's cool!
Congratulations to finishing first solo run!
The artstyle and sounds are great, but I didn't like the "demon tentacle bushes". You could maybe focus more on the story? I wonder if Dark Souls or Limbo inspired you?
@scintillae-creations Thank you ^^ I kinda started with the idea of these Gothic windows with the light coming through (the opening shot), from that I wanted a darker world, and I am sure that dark souls had some influence there yeah :D by then end I think some diablo may have seeped in too. I whould have likely done some more story focus, but with my limited programming experience of only a year it just took a long time ^^' Good suggestion though, I agree~ Edit: when it came to the entire theme, I thought of someone with their soul in their hand, like a flame, if they were to run to quick it would fizzle out. thus came the dark sombre tone to mind. then the art stuff popped into my head.
The aesthetics and audio was really nice. Just as a suggestion, maybe have something chase you as well so your pressured to keep moving. Other than that, great game!
Nice Game!
I really liked the art style. It is really impressive how many assets you created. Sound works great to support the atmosphere as well.
However, the game felt a bit empty in some places and could use either some more gameplay or story elements. Though this emptyness did intensify the dark atmosphere, so it kinda works the way it is :)
By the way, you asked me to be notified when I uploaded a dependency free version of my game. It did that now :)
I think the game was a bit buggy for me, like the sprint didn’t use my soul at all… or maybe I wasn’t using it well ^^ I didn’t understand how to get through the tentacles without taking damage though The graphics are neat! I like the level design as well (would have loved it even more if i understood how to overpass those tentacles XD) But yeah nice game!
I like the art style! But the colliders of the obstacles are too wide and I didn't feel like I can dodge it. Also maybe try to add some animation for player movement or just don't use the suffering pose. However, congrats on making a stylized game!
@tom-kun Hey Tom, I had a question, you mention maybe adding some animations for player movement and maybe not a suffering pose. What exactly do you mean? There are animations in the game, and I was wondering if this is a type of bug, or if you meant something different entirely than to what I'm thinking? I made a little playthrough vid, would you mind checking it and seeing if things are the same? I'd like to know what type of bug it is, in case of that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWBq0Z2qK4g Thanks ever so much ^^
Cool concept! Got me dark souls vibes! In second half i was lacking of obstacles! Overall very solid entry! =D
I really liked the progression with the visuals, although the mechanic left me with mixed feelings, it's like there is a thing that I want to do (move forward) but I just have to stop from time to time which feels kind of arbitrary. Maybe if you flip it could feel better? Like pushing player to go forward instead of pushing him to stay in place. Nice entry!
Excellent graphics and mood here. I liked the balance of movement vs drain. Nice design.
Hey there! I really liked the art and atmosphere in this game. The art felt really original, and fit into the idea really nicely. I do feel like the player felt a little bit limited in what they could do. If you let the player jump it could be something that makes you use Soul which could make it feel more strategic. Also the player could push things and that could use Soul too. You also could add in some more creepy noises like maybe some growls or screaming so it isn't the same kind of noise all throughout the time you play. You probably thought of these things already, but in the time we had we couldn't put everything into the game. Anyways, I think you did great and I'm going to be hearing that noise in the background in my head for the rest of the night, so well done!

@thecrancher I had genuently not concidered pushing blocks, Which is kinda weird concidering how much that happens in 2d games :') Thanks so much for your compliments and feedback, I appreciate it ^^
