Seems like it could be good fun. I would definitely swap the left/right controls though, I spent most of the time fighting against that rather than the aliens!
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD46 → You Can't Die!

Nice game !! :D I really like the feeling when playing it ! My highscore : 1150
Fun, really satisfying to get kills but the controls are REALLY hard ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯
Once I got the hang of the controls, it was pretty cool!
Weirdly, i never even noticed the controls were inverted. They are coded after a flight sim style game, which is the reason. Maybe a bit more playtesting was needed.
My only problems with this game are the controls Left makes you go right and right makes you go left? why>
Love it! Really great game, the punches are super satisfying and hitting ships into ships feels great! The controls take a few attempts to master but feel great when done. I wonder if the superhero followed mouse position, would it be easier to grasp? Anyway, super great work!
Good game. My highest score was 790. The visuals and pretty neat and elegant. I had no problem with the controls, once I got the hang of it, they felt fine.
I think the ray UFO's have too much health (it took like 8 punches to bring it down) so when I focus on bringing it down peasant UFO's keep shooting. Also my personal preference would be that the general speed of what's going on the screen would be higher so you could really punch through stuff and feel more immortal.
Good point, that could be interesting to test.
Took a bit to figure out how to kill the second type of UFO. Once I got that figured out I did a little better. Giving the other side a superhero is cool.
Audio got annoying kinda quick.
Graphics are simple but incredibly effective. I liked the destroyed city and smoke.

How can I kill this ship ? Seems indestructible. Oh! I understand, I think, they should get hit indirectly ? (In some game, it's hard to make a combo for kill them)
[I tried several time](https://static.jam.vg/raw/3a3/c2/z/2d54c.png). I found (personal opinion), controls are a little frustrating (~~maybe absolute controls instead relative controls should be more easy?~~) and the conditions to kill *boss ship* could be little hard to get but your game is still a great game ~~but little bit frustrating~~ !
Nice game! I like the understated visuals a lot. The palette works really well. Other than the unfamiliar control that others had mentioned, I found that the combo numbers look a bit blurry. Perhaps you forgot to use nearest-neighbor for them?
I think your right. I was wondering the same thing when developing.
Good game! Loved the graphics. Liked how you can actually punch the UFO into each other. Somehow killed the big one, but not from the first punch. Awesome!
Controls feel wonky, I was also getting stuck in the corner couple of times.
The inverted controls are very frustrating to get used to and getting stuck on the ground is difficult to recover from but otherwise this is a very fun arcade-style game. Great art style and audio.
I think controls are supposed to be that hard to master, otherwise game would be very simple. Hitting enemies feels really good and visuals are simple but effective. Good job.
City on game over: I dont feel so good...
the game is fun but controlling the super hero was hard the turn is backward did you mean it?
@jonathanjoseph no, I didn't intend that, but it's to late to change now. Thankfully, you can get used to it.
@chertkov good point actually. You are probably on to something, but it wasn't intentional.
A rare LD entry that has both tight gameplay and great art! Really nice work.
I really, really liked your game! The gameplay is hard to control, but I guess this is the whole isn’t it? Love the graphics, love the concept! Congrats! If I have one thing to say… I still don’t understand how you’re supposed to kill the “laser vessels” but I feel like I could understand by playing the game more
@sticmac thank you so much. To kill them, you have to knock a regular UFO or super villain into them. They are supposed to be reinforced. There was also a mechanic, where the player would be knocked away when hitting them. Which for some reason disappeared when exporting.
@nirose Ok! I honestly thought I had to charge my punch for longer time, but even that didn’t succeed… Anyway now I know how to kill them! But maybe you should try to make that more explicit, if you do further versions of the game  Still one of the best entries I found so far though!
Controls are no longer inverted. Thank you everyone for the feedback. Much appreciated.
I really enjoyed this game. Got a highscore of 1650!
Good graphics and SFX, plus interesting control set-up although quite hard at first. My only concern is the implementation of the beam laser ships. They do sure damage and unbreakable until a ship hovers near it. Feels bad to rely on a little bit of luck.
@lykawolfie Glad you've liked it. The idea with those ships was, to force the player to think about the direction which they attack, but you are right. If you miss then those ships will punish you for it. You can actually block their laser with your player character, stopping their attack. But i agree, the ships could be rebalanced a bit.
Fun little arcade game
Very nice graphics, and interesting gameplay, a nice new take on a Space Invader style game.
Outstanding Art minimalist game! really fun, y score 1350! you should be proud of your game. overall a great game. See you in the next jam
I really loved playing this game although I'm terrible at defending a city from aliens lol Great work!!
great idea of an indestructable hero but fragile city (I think a bit like one of the Superman games from the 90s). Graphics were a little bit too minimalist for me to easily tell which direction I was facing after being knocked away from a UFO. As someone suggested, this would work pretty well with a mouse control (fly towards the cursor; left-click to punch, right to boost?).
Love the theme. Love the art. You kind of combined Missile Command with The Avengers, and it works.
Good job!
Good job! I really like the art
Fun little game. Some sounds are a bit nervewrecking, but its motivating to kill those evil aliens!
@koemeterion thanks, i agree. The idea was to make you wan't to kill them faster, but I took it a bit too far, they are a bit annoying.
@nirose I like the idea and the art-style. The game is fun to play.
It was hard at first to figure out how to control the character properly. I guess, this part may require more polish if you decide to develop this game further.
Overall, it's a great jam game!
Greetings from Reddit! I saw this game and HAD to play it. I'm probably the only person who quickly adjusted to the controls and "got" it. A few notes if you decide to add on to this game.
Being hit with the ship that requires another ship to hit it, is hard enough. Having that alien super villain come as well as ANOTHER one of those ships, seems impossible to recover from.
I don't think I was able to kill that super villain at all. If there's something missing there, please let me know.
Do you plan on expanding on this game? If so I'm very interested in playing again. :D
@mrtroy thank you very much for the feedback. Currently, I have no plans to further develop the game, because I want to focus on smaller projects for a while, to practice and further develop my skills. That doesn't mean I won't return to the project one day though.
Nice visuals but controls feel a little bit counterintuitive.
