Hey! I really enjoyed your Game. Cute Graphics, nice mood, great gameplay!
this is great! i found the movement speed was a bit too slow, but everything else is superbly put together. The art is especially great given your artist left. good job!
Pretty simple and basic game. It had a good feel and mood and well you shoot around with light. It's pretty good honestly and with that awesome music the game is there. I just feel it's a little blend unfortunitly. It's too short for the mood to really blend in and there's no real danger. My flame pretty easily didn't die out ( and i'm glad about that ). But I think a real notion of danger would have me more involved
Otherwise its pretty juicy and that's a real plus, too bad balancing and parameter tweaking couldn't make it in time ( I guess ? ) Or play testing.
It is still a lovely and very high quality submission artisticly speaking
Nice and cute game! I like the atmosphere and graphics. Also those octopuses are really tough guys :D great concept to push forward.
Simplistic yet fun experience. The pacing is on point and it is well coded. Has a familiar feeling and is easy to learn.
Good game. Though I will note that I did NOT do zero art (I was the artist who left). I did some but for one part of said art I saw I did not have enough time to make it, which I mentioned and I was told that what I made would not be used so I left because I wasn't needed anymore. I'm really sorry to have let you down so much, all I wanted was to have a good time and make something but things just came and took up my time. And honestly I think you did better in one day than I did in 3.
I love the art and atmosphere of this game.
Really GREAT Game ! The atmosphere was nice and the sound effects were really good !
Simple, but I enjoyed. I'd like more game! LOL I missed more elements on de HUD. Keep with this project!
Enjoyed the atmosphere and graphics.
I feel like the timing on shooting might be a touch off. I found myself trying to shoot often with no result which didn't feel great. However when you do shoot it feels nice.
@squeg-inc thanks! there was supposed to be a speed powerup :)
@lukas-tamayo Yeah, balancing was pretty scarce, also it's one of the side effects of a randomly generated map. Sometimes it's really easy and sometimes it's really hard. Finetuning something like that would've required too much time sadly, thanks for the feedback!
@maksym ghost octopuses ;)
@eggy0 Thanks for the comment and the feedback, but I'm not sure this is the right place and time to talk about it . If you want to discuss it feel free to message me on discord.
@rodrigo-castro "I missed more elements on de HUD" what do you mean exactly?
@ryan-harriman "I found myself trying to shoot often with no result" as in pressing the button with no results?
No it always shot. Just it was on a cooldown. I think I meant I would like to shoot faster or at least everytime I pressed the button
Pretty cool, could use a little of variety in terms of upgrades or enemies but i had fun! :)
I really liked the game, the art style was really cute and it looked well polished. What I'd recommend, is adding a little UI part to show the player they have to leave the campfire, and campfires could be really rare, which made surviving a lot more difficult. Health on rng is kinda weird. Great game tho
There were great ideas here. Pretty good stuff! Really. If you invest time on it, many things can be made. Really enjoyed the music. The first time the door slammed was a surprise, so it's good thing. As already said, it will be a cool experience to try balancing it all out. Not easy task, but if fine tuned, can be a pretty solid experience!
Let me add, I think the interaction with the bonfire should be automatic. I got a bit confused by pressing E and the game doesnt letting me move the guy around. Making the fire the life is genious too. It would be great if the guy wasn't a walking flame, but a cool char with a flame on top, or somewhere. This emotional music make me feel that this flame is important somehow!
Why not make a story about a cute safety match style guy that wants to take this fire somewhere (like a mission). The player doesn't know where he is going, but it could be a very emotional thing like, in the end, he was taking this flame to someone in top of a mountain whose bonfire was extinguishing, so he had to go the way down to take a blue flame of sort. Could be his son, or his family. Something like this. Aside from that, there are many rpg style stuff that could be implemented, but those are the obvious ones. xD
Great game, I really liked the effect of the light dimming as the flame went down
Looks nice, feels a bit slow in general but that doesn't hurt it too much. Solid game!
Fun! I enjoy the art and the audio was well suited for the atmosphere of the game. The controls were simple so that was great too. It even stuck to theme perfectly.
I would've liked for the game to still be visible up until the life bar depletes, but it actually gets pitch black with some life to spare which was unfortunate.
I would love to see this as a full fledged game
Really nice looking game, plays well and is fun! I especially liked the dimming flame and random generation. Good stuff!!!!
Fun game! I almost feel like you got the fire dimming effect done good enough that you didn't even have to include the health bar. Good work
The game is really nice! I love the arts (even though you told you rushed them) and the music/audio  The game overall is very fun as well, awesome you got to make a whole rogue like in such a short amount of time  If I had to same something, I kinda feel like the core mechanic of having less light when your life goes down is a bit of a downward spiral. The more you lose life, the more you lose light, and the more you lose light, the harder it is to see enemies and the more you lose life… So maybe it was intentional, but it bothered me a bit ^^ Otherwise, very nice game! That’s a great entry and you guys made a great job!
@sticmac We decided to develop a full game and we actually thought about this problem, our solution was to make the enemies attack you only if they're in your light. What do you think? ^^
Other than that thanks for the feedback!
Thansk for the game. I like how light system works and the general idea of keeping the fire alive. I'd like to see a bit more dynamic shooting mechanics. Wish you the best of luck :)
The game looks good and what's notable is that it has by far the best implementation of a tutorial out of all the games I saw today. Well done integrating it into the gameplay!
It seems like a good game in general. Unfortunately I was unable to play much because of problems with the camera that often did not go to the room that I entered or that was slower than me causing me to get stuck in the walls. Pixel art is simple and neat and the soundtrack leaves the atmosphere with a lot of suspense.
Congratulations!
@euler-moises that's weird, you're the only one so far that had something like this, I wonder why. I'm really sorry for the bug tho! Were you playing the webgl build?
Nice little game with some neat pixel art. Music track is quite nice, even though I'm not sure how well it fits the mood. Number one thing the game needs is more visceral feedback when hitting enemies: sound effects, animation, screen shake, stuff like that.
Loved this game's atmosphere :) Just wish you had time to make better graphics. Here's my playthrough of it: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/600641772
Very good atmosphere, fun concept, needed a little more map variety and slightly tweaked sound mixing.
This game is really fun, the graphics and art are fantastic, well done! Favorite game so far!
Thanks for bringing your game for me to check out on stream! If you'd like to watch again, there's a highlight at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/606399374
Great game! The art and audio build a beautiful atmosphere.
I think it would be a good addition if the flame (sprite) would also decrease in size as the fire diminishes. Not in a linear way, but just a little, so that you would just about notice it.
Also thank you for playing our game on your stream and showing us how you did the flicker effect!
Cool little game. Loved the warm atmosphere of graphics and music combined. I didn't really figure out the magic bullet but managed to finish anyway. Hope you make more like this in the future. Keep up good work!
