Feels nice and refreshing to play a text heavy choose-your-own adventure, really makes it stand out among the jam games. :D I am impressed at the amount of text and it was very well written though (and this might just be me) I found the background colour made it a bit unpleasant to read.
Good game! :D

Hey, very nice story! Fitting soundtrack and audio effects, pretty good options (despite they're never enough for who is playing, we always want more lol). Also, it was good to be able to try the other story branch ("Go back") to see how it played out without having to restart the whole story.
I just felt it was way too short, even exploring the other branches -- but this is a Ludum Dare thing: we never have enough time
@axelrinaldo Noted on the colour! Can't have a text-based game that's hard to read. Glad you enjoyed the writing. I appreciate the feedback!

love all the funny names :D As soon as I got to Nullepart I was sure I was home :P The writing is really good and engaging with a funny twist at the end. Great job!
Nice little game! The background music, picture, and typeface all fit the noir atmosphere. Appropriate that today in the USA (April 18) is officially the tax return deadline this year! Good job!
@mirianbr I was worried that it was getting too long, to be honest! I'm so happy that you were interested enough that you looked at the other branches.
@nullval Thank you! Glad you liked the name and the twist.
@saintchristopher777 Glad you liked the game! But if you're considering any tax shenanigans, you don't know me, okay? 🤪
I throughly enjoyed this! The writing was brilliant and I loved the ending! If this was a "full game" with a long campaign and achievements it would be so cool! <3
@anna-constable Thank you! I'm glad you liked it, but you really shouldn't encourage me to make it longer; I'll never get something like that in a jam deadline!

Good game, made it to the end a few different ways. My mother is not proud of my choices...
Well written and imaginative. Very creative writing. Would like to see some visuals and maybe some puzzles attached to the choices, some way to engage the player a little more.

This game is great! It was fun to explore and see what happens. I like how the player can choose to accept the inevitable at almost any time, or futilely try to delay it. Since it's so easy to go back when you "lose", it really encourages you to explore all the possibilities. The little twist at the end was great, although I don't know how you can keep the story straight, I've told you like 20 versions! :)

I don't know why but I feel like the narrator doesn't like me.
A fun story with interesting branches. Being able to quickly undo a decision is a nice touch that homegrown interactive fiction frequently lacks.
@joe40001 Well, so long as she doesn't disapprove, I'm sure that relationship can be mended.
@a1stakesauce Thanks, and noted. Something I wanted to add to the game was an "inventory" the player could see. I was keeping track of that behind the scenes, but making that visible to the player had to be cut. Adding puzzles as well would be an interesting idea, too.
@rose I made the unfortunate decision to use a numbered array to store each scene of the story, and by the time I realized that was a terrible idea, it was too late. I managed to keep track, though, so if you think I can't keep track of *your* 20 versions, oh ye of little faith...
@ldjq Adding that back button was something I needed in order to test the game. I don't like punishing the player (because I don't like that sort of game myself), so it stayed. I put all that work into adding branches and writing scenes, it would be a terrible idea to not let the player explore. (And some of the failure scenes were the most fun to write!)

Interesting. At least for some of the text having it typed out typewriter style would add to the mood even more.
