LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

180° Past Pluto by Brassawiking 2014-12-09T21:50:00

Very nice. I think yeah the controls are tricky because the player doesnt have an obvious facing. But given the simplicity of the "reverse for pickup" mechanic, that may work in the games favour. It might be too easy if the player was an obvious space ship icon? hmmm, perhaps just making the player a triangle instead might be a little kinder to players?... Anyways, nice game with a simple focus.

Who cares Entire Game? by bukt 2014-12-20T12:07:00

5 stars for theme. It really is every part of the game on one screen, menus and all. Unfortunately its kinda unplayable. Not sure if serious :D

Precise Shot by TimBeaudet 2014-12-20T07:33:00

Nice game. Kinda fun getting a power shot/great shot. The Master Bow felt odd, just inaccurate/random. Perhaps moving targets would be a better idea?

Blue Cave by NuSan 2014-12-08T08:45:00

Nice concept, but the flails were just a little hard to use. Some sort of attack button that gives the flails a sudden vertical force/thrust would have been nice to help use them. Most of the time they were stuck on that middle rock pillar when I moved to the right side of the screen. Music had a suitably 8 bit NES/SEGA feel. Great job.

Wavy Jumps by Mefteg 2014-12-08T10:47:00

Interesting idea. Graphics very clean, a sort of simple elegance to it. I felt like it needed a little more complexity in the mechanics.

Laundry Day by Omiya Games 2014-12-18T21:46:00

I found this game a little odd. I found myself waiting a little too much. eg the first cycle took like 2 minutes+ and I had nothing to really do. The text messages were a little slow and locked up one time. Still, there is a certain charm to this game.

Save the Giant by drkrunk 2014-12-21T08:45:00

Great art. But too buggy to play

Boss Rush by Nick Weihs 2014-12-17T09:40:00

Pretty good, although the audio was a little odd. Did you record your own voice? Great job overall, the animations in particular were really good.

Afterlife Tesla's Disco Party with Flat Buds by Menesetsu 2014-12-28T08:39:00

Odd game. Couldnt quite work it out if I'm honest.

Alt-Tab by robopossum 2014-12-17T09:45:00

Theme 5 stars. The character controls were a little sticky/unresponsive. But otherwise gave me a chuckle. The coins "in-game" affecting your boredom out of game, really great idea.

Pyramid of death by KedumeBits 2014-12-08T09:32:00

Neat little game. Cant give any ratings though. Did you Opt Out of them all?...

Worms by longloaf 2014-12-08T09:00:00

Have to admit, I was wondering what would happen at the end. Was not disappointed. Humor, Mood, 5 stars.

The Battle of Yelms Keep by martymon 2014-12-08T09:37:00

Nice art style. Little tough, cause the targets are so small.

shootAbox by skulioskarsson 2014-12-08T11:45:00

Congrats on finishing your first game.

ARENA++ by undefinist 2014-12-13T05:32:00

I'm gunna give you 5 stars for Theme.

[shameless plug] I actually used a Game Border mechanic in my LD31 game too (http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-31/?action=preview&uid=45908) - however in mine you need to expand the border fully to exit the level.

I really like your contracting border crushing the player idea. This game does need some refinement but you've got a solid concept to run with. Good stuff.

Snowman Invasion by Jaloko 2014-12-10T10:43:00

The basic elements of a Tower Defense game are all there. I think though some sort of funny twist or unique mechanic is needed. I bought an Ice Turret, it didnt seem to do anything. Was kinda hoping it would do something, even if it was silly. For a Jam I think you can take a risk and throw in something a bit crazy. Solid effort though.

Mind Words by leffe108 2014-12-22T11:06:00

Felt a bit like a learning game/brain training rather than a pure game for fun. But a beautifully simple concept. I think it could be refined a bit more into something more fun. Definitely some whiz bang sfx and sprites could help, along with some extra mechanics beyond the matching (for some reason I'm thinking of that Bookworm game). Nice job overall.

Trench War by rjhelms 2014-12-22T11:17:00

Nice little game. Seemed a little tough. But it looks like you got a solid core concept that you could build upon post LD31. Good job

Blipt in the Dark by PurpleApes 2014-12-20T00:21:00

Innovative idea but the execution let it down a little. I would suggest removing the lighting/darkness effect - I think that hurts the gameplay and doesnt really add value. The 3 planes/layers is the innovative bit you got going on here, and that alone should be enough for a solid puzzle platformer to be built on. The player will benefit in being able to see it all. I reckon you can focus on just this layers aspect if you wanted to develop it further. Good job overall though.

Jungle Night by BitOfGold 2014-12-08T10:53:00

Really great look to it. I just wish you could hold down the mouse button to shoot repeatedly, too much clicking. Maybe one alternate/powerup weapon would have been nice to add some variety. Graphics 5 stars, nice and distinctive look.

All Is Lost by plauk 2014-12-08T08:11:00

Wow, that was cool. The mouse controls were a little odd when moving. Then I discovered the zoom, and mostly just sat in one spot shooting, but it was still quite fun. Graphics and Audio really nice. Great job

Against All Odds by billrizer 2014-12-15T11:04:00

Nicely polished game, and the death zoom in was sweet. Quite hard

MRBOX by karlipoppins 2014-12-08T21:38:00

Nice one. Just long and tricky enough with a good mix of save points.

Santa's Reindeers by frokes 2014-12-12T22:09:00

A little underdone, but what LD game isnt :D
This has a certain charm about it.

Dry Land by funkysquid 2014-12-08T08:03:00

I won! Little easy. The fish sprites are nicely maniacal looking with their chattering jaws.

Visibility Zero by molecats 2014-12-18T21:37:00

My first "Mood" 5 stars rating, along with a bunch of other high scores too. The mood was great, and for brief moments I really zoned out and was in the game world.

Agree with some of the other posts, that it can be a little difficult to navigate and having no real defence against the enemies wasnt so fun.

I wanted to walk over to that big arch but I'm guessing its just a backgroung/skybox and not part of the world :(

I think its an awesome concept, and encourage you guys to explore and refine it further. Awesome.

One of the best LD31 entries I've played.

Party Pleaser by Matthew Rayfield 2014-12-08T09:25:00

5 Stars for humor... but only cause it spurred funny comments!

I can see why the protagonist looks so depressed. All he does is fetch food and beverage and take out the trash. Its like having an apartment full of bad girlfriends.

The Unfettered Arrow by inkeystring 2014-12-28T08:51:00

Seems like a solid idea. Nice ninja/samurai characters, I guess the apple seems a little out of place by contrast. Didnt quite understand the choice for the redundant key mappings (left x 3, right x 3). Left and Right arrows would work fine.... although if the player controls multiple arrows in future, I can see the need for multiple left/right mappings. Anyways interesting little concept.

The Shelter by Alter 2014-12-08T08:32:00

Pretty neat. I quite enjoyed taking really precise sniping shots at a zombie behind a person. Quite satisfying to make the shot.

Ludum Dare Pinball by iShadow 2014-12-28T08:56:00

Not too innovative, but a really solid game. I quite liked the audio.

a TV Show or a One Screen Game by Si1ver 2014-12-17T21:10:00

I'm giving quite a few 5 stars for this one. Really liked it - although I could only see two family members? Are there more?

I'm an English speaker and the Russian(?) voices added to the mood for me and I think works better than if I could understand it, and detect the looping in the audio easily.

Great use of Theme. You should run with this further, go for other ideas, objectives etc: eg making kids leave the room to play outside by changing from cartoons to news, or switching to a medical story when a family member starts choking on food, all sorts of crazy stuff like that. And I'd probably go with objectives that are not spelled out - keep it unsaid, so that the player has to observe and work it out themselves. Just some random thoughts.

Great job.

Helga Kills Everything by mutatedsoftware 2014-12-20T07:38:00

Quite fun and humorous. But the bear killed me everytime :/
Nice game

Border31 by wavertron 2014-12-07T22:14:00

Note, this game is not friendly to Mobiles. It will run fine in Landscape mode, but with the WASD controls, well, you wont be moving anywhere.

Border31 by wavertron 2014-12-08T08:51:00

**To Complete the Level** you need to go inside the spinning green box when it goes bright green.

Border31 by wavertron 2014-12-08T11:13:00

@badlydrawnrod Heheh, great to watch that youtube vid of someone playing it. Thanks for sharing

Border31 by wavertron 2014-12-09T08:07:00

@Blue Thumbs Gaming
yeah the score only gets tallied up and added on after you complete a level.

Super Color-o RGB: Legend of the Several Stars by Soron 2014-12-08T07:37:00

Like Vulture Tamer said, its a bit tough to play with so many colours and keys to think about - although admittedly that does allow a large scope for player skill.

Project 327 by jn327 2014-12-08T10:15:00

Little hard to rate the Fun factor playing against myself. An interesting little game. Almost an odd mix of real-time (ie asteroids keeps moving) and turn based play. Sfx would have been great just to give the lasers/bombs a bit of grunt.

InstiGator by SolomaZ 2014-12-20T00:14:00

Yeah its a little easy but fun. Could benefit from some other mechanic to break up the running in circles with a mob chasing you. But then, I guess thats kinda the appeal. Perhaps more variety of people.

What is in the end? by goro 2014-12-28T08:33:00

Hmmm, the WASD controls, I couldnt really see how they worked :/
Sound and Art are nice

Much Adoge about Chocolate by Arpeggiatura 2014-12-09T08:20:00

I thought dogs were colour blind :D

Feels a little too incomplete this one.

Nap Quest by sanojian 2014-12-08T10:33:00

The anti-quest idea was good - I didnt realise it at first, then the name NapQuest and I was like, oohhh I see.

Yeah probably time spent on the lighting effect could have been better focused on gameplay mechanics, though it came out looking quite nice (if running a little bit slow). That will be useful code you can use elsewhere.

A Place in Space by lokijki 2014-12-10T07:30:00

Awesome job. Just the screen shaking when firing a lot was a bit of an eye-strainer. But otherwise, really cool

DOS Defender by skeeto 2014-12-08T21:45:00

DOSBox - neat idea. Didnt quite feel like I was getting hit/dying from the enemy bullets, but that DOSBox. Back in the days when there were no Windows, and all you had was one screen. Who woulda thunk it.

Cool The Cats! by aeveis 2014-12-11T11:55:00

Really good. I normally get kinda sick of puzzle games pretty quickly, but I hadnt seen one with this mechanic before, and played through to the end (time 6:49). Great job. I would encourage you to try taking the concept further.

EGoOS by alwaysinbeta 2014-12-15T11:10:00

Fun game. Recoil was cool, though the character controls are a little jumpy. Great job

LD33 — You are the Monster

Takodemon by Split82 2015-08-24T15:24:00

Damn... this is pretty slick for the compo. Great game, innovative controls. I got stuck on the seesaw level then frustration got to me. I found the letter sequence a bit odd, didnt quite seem to roll fluidly on the keyboard, but perhaps thats just my lack of time playing.

Great game, definitely worth developing further.

Klonos by Azlen 2015-08-24T06:49:00

Had a nice mood/graphics, but it felt a little slow paced. Couldnt jump while moving? A little parallax scrolling in the background with the moon and maybe add a middle layer would have given the graphics just that extra bit of polish without too much more effort. But nice work overall

Ghost and Ghosthunters by Linus Lindberg 2015-08-24T15:36:00

Was a good looking start.

Safari by Parappa 2015-08-24T06:35:00

Heheh, ya know I had thought of a Hunter game too at one point, very topical. Despite the basic graphics, I found it kinda fun chasing that lion around. Damn hard to aim though. Would have been great if you stuck some trees in there for the lion to hide in, and made the lion leave footprints, then there would be more of a hunting aspect.

The Wrath of Gandhi by greysphere 2015-08-24T06:41:00

Fire ze missiles! LOL not bad. I got a little bored trying to find the civs, glad I stuck with it.

Road To Hell by Hyoga-3D 2015-08-30T20:32:00

Quite hard, which is ok. The tunnels felt a little cheap though, would have been better if once you enter them they go transparent. That way you cant plan ahead when you see them, so they still present a different sort of challenge but at the same time aren't just pot luck. Well done overall.

Bloblivion by jackrugile 2015-08-28T06:58:00

Nice little shooter. The "sit bottom left, shoot top right" was a pretty easy cheat though. A delay between shots, or maybe a limited burst that reloads fairly quickly would have been a nice way to add a little more nuance to the mechanics. A little bit weak on the Theme, and for a Jam entry I would have liked to have seen a little bit more depth (ie variety of enemies/moving patterns, or deeper shooting mechanics), but really great job overall. Quite juicy too.

The Endangered Death Falcon by dingotime 2015-08-24T07:07:00

Wow, that was great. Took a while to master the flying and being mindful of the talons, but that was really neat. Towards the end I was swooping down without flapping, scooping up a car and that had a nice graceful feel to it. Yeah its needs some refinement, but for 48 hours Compo, awesome work. And the music was gravy, really set the mood.

Wake the Monster by Zerkruemler 2015-08-24T14:58:00

Not too shabby. Controlling the player at the start is a little confusing though. Nicely done.

Sucker Punch by Shaw 2015-08-24T22:32:00

I couldnt quite tell how I was getting hurt, but chaotic fun none the less. Cool.

Adula by conormn 2015-09-14T20:01:00

Just a tad short, not a lot of "game" in there.
Great minimalist art style

Gravity Snake by lessmilk 2015-08-27T01:10:00

Genius little game mechanic there with the snake body. Well done

Volcano Charge by Pantelis Petsopoulos 2015-08-24T14:41:00

Interesting little game. Screen res was a little small, hard to see on my small screen laptop. The charging mechanic was quite nice, needing some practice to judge the distance and not slide off but also not fall short and get hurt.

Fortior by rudra 2015-08-28T07:24:00

Maybe it was the Web version, but the screensize was quite small, made it hard to play

The Basement by AdayMC 2015-08-27T20:31:00

Neat mechanics. Took a moment to realise you have to wait to swallow before just vacuuming in everything, which was a nice touch to add a little more complexity to it. Looks like a good base for developing further.

The Real MVP by cheapmecha 2015-08-24T23:43:00

Not too shabby. I like the reversed aspects, ie moving right to left, level 3 to 1, cant open chests. Gratz on your first LD entry.

Reflux by wavertron 2015-09-03T08:38:00

@inbetweengames, yeah the difficulty isnt well balanced after the first level or two, and I did run out of time before I could do more art and polish...but thats the compo for ya! I only really got 1 solid day of development in.

BuzzzzOff by LordKawaii 2015-08-25T20:36:00

Heheh, not bad. The human does get stuck sometimes. For the audio, it would have been great to add in the occasional muffled cursing or something by the human to inject a little more humour. Nice little game.

Elevator Monster by MrKOHCEPBAHT 2015-08-24T14:36:00

Interesting control scheme. Neat

Boss Stomp! by MrDave 2015-08-24T08:50:00

Awesome. Great graphics, innovative controls. Nice attention to detail with the brief flashing immunity when the hero gets hit, the clanging of the two fists together, subtle screen shake. The audio fits nicely. And a little humour with the bunny swarm. Great job.

Shadows and Cats by MoreRPG Team 2015-09-14T19:53:00

Growing larger was a nice touch, kept me interested. I "eated" 78 peeps, then it seems to break. I also found a few big clusters of peoples spinning, bit of a bug yet it was fun to eat them all in one go :D

Snacker by ToloaGames 2015-08-24T15:08:00

Kinda fun, little odd at first. Your bullets and enemy bullets colliding was good, made it harder to shoot the tanks. The graphics arent too bad. A little more time on monster would have helped, since its on screen at all times and being controlled by the user. But overall, fun little game. Congrats on your first LD entry.

The Devourer by bwafflecone 2015-08-24T06:55:00

I cant say it was a super fun to play, the mouse movement was a little clunky to control, but great non-violent, non-typical use of the theme. Graphics were good, simple but clean.

Sly Slime - Revenge On All Players by reckhou 2015-08-28T07:16:00

Wow looks great. Performance wasnt so great on my laptop, made it a little hard to play and the crosshairs moved really slowly. But stellar little game overall. The voxels are great.

WICKED SK8 by goet 2015-08-24T14:47:00

Not really feeling the theme, but yeah the 2d peeps in the 3d world looks great. Maybe a current speed indicator would be good too.

Underwater Secrets by Wolar 2015-08-24T08:36:00

Graphics were nice, but I couldnt tell if the light had any mechanic other than the visual, ie does turning it on attract red things? Nice mood (lighting) :D

I'm a Monster Rawr! by bakakyo 2015-08-28T06:43:00

Graphics were nice. Great job for a 1st game

Stay Away From My Coins! by redzero 2015-08-24T23:48:00

Pretty good, I would have like an extra mechanic in there to add a twist, perhaps something around recovering coins? Nice job overall. Huge swarm at the end is fun.

Aliensche! by HiVE interactive 2015-08-24T06:28:00

Pretty cool. Nice graphics and audio matches well. Outside of a jam, this could really be expanded into a bigger game (ie variety of enemies etc). Great job.

The Mammoth: A Cave Painting by inbetweengames 2015-09-02T19:51:00

Wow great. Less "game" and more interactive story, but still fantastic.

Doom, Death & Destruction (Tycoon) by WhoIsNoahGames 2015-09-14T19:44:00

Wasnt able to play the Web version :/

UFO by Polyganz 2015-08-31T19:32:00

what @jwin said.

LD35 — Shapeshift

Shape Collector by Jogy34 2016-04-18T05:20:00

Wow really good. You should refine this outside the compo. I'd would have liked a border edge showing the extent of my territory but its not really needed. The fact you can't pick the same shape as the AI, thats a good little tactical nuance, you should look for other ideas like this. Maybe add a little Player/AI Lock icon over the last shape picked so its more obvious. A running count of squares held during the VS game would be good. Great work with such a simple idea.

Phil Fortier by icefallgames 2016-04-19T10:03:00

Really nice game. Feels quite complete. I got stuck about level 5 or 6. Not sure exactly. At one point the repeating rolling ball on the left went crazy and started coming out in multiples (bug?)

Morph Ranger by mrnannings 2016-04-18T12:29:00

Great game. Nicely done with teaching the player as you progress.

Dawning by Ludipe 2016-04-23T00:36:00

Neat little game. Music and sfx were spot on.

Starshift by jacklehamster 2016-04-18T03:20:00

Starshift - yeah that was looking quite interesting, I got into it a bit. The shapes at the bottom are a little odd at first. Great job for 1 day effort, shame you didnt have time more time to refine it

Spooky, Scary Shapes by Tater_hater 2016-04-18T03:06:00

Audio was great. The game felt a little too incomplete, but thats the compo for ya

Infinite Ronin by stefenism 2016-05-04T12:22:00

I enjoyed it. As Linver said, a meditative type of play. The issue was the stacked enemies that can't beaten. What would have improved this was a ramping up in difficulty, where the distance between enemies progressively got shorter/harder (but not the unbeatable double stacks).

Splitter Critters by GertJohnny 2016-04-28T10:30:00

We might just have a winner right here.

Without any doubt, get the controls working for touch screens, then get this sucker packaged up and into the App stores pronto!

Fast Dungeon by Andreas Brandt 2016-04-22T10:08:00

Great art. Would have loved some sfx when attacking/hitting (even just some basic placeholder sounds) and as others have said... better controls. Did make it feel very rough tbh. Still an exceptional base to build upon post jam

Promethium by Postcursor Laboratories 2016-04-19T08:53:00

IMO a little too much particle effects. Some sound effects would have really added to feedback/feel of the game when firing/getting hit etc. But great job overall.

Shape Assault by thomz12 2016-04-19T10:42:00

Sweet glowing graphics, lots of juicy-ness in there giving player feedback. Felt very chaotic. Great game.

Battle of Britain 2 by SuperChihuahua 2016-04-18T06:09:00

Interesting. Maybe too ambitious for the compo? The pathing didnt really work too well for me. The green towers I assume are aliens. I think its a good idea overall, just needs some time and refinement. Also, I wanted to click/hold the mouse wheel to move around the map, rather than WASD. Maybe cause I've been using Inkscape the last day or two, haha.

Impulse by Docjekyll 2016-04-21T11:53:00

Yeah its a little easy but as you said it was aimed for someone as young as 3 to play. I guess for older audiences some sort of skill element could be added. Perhaps just simply awarding an 1 to 5 stars rating based on how fast the puzzle is solved would help to give that reward feedback? Nice game overall though.

Drift Shift by Bailman03 2016-04-18T05:08:00

Really good. You could refine this some more into something really nice outside the compo. Juicify it to give it more feedback to the player. Sound effects obviously. Maybe some more visuals like when you pick a shape gear, all those particular "shape gates" go green and other shape gates go red. Passing through a gate, fire off a satisfying sound as well, etc.

Key Quest by SigmanZero 2016-04-22T10:40:00

I like the art, simple but crisp, clear and consistent. Like a few others have said, the camera felt a little close in. And the controls a little too floaty. Nice job including the mini-map, they are fun to implement with a little math and really have a nice impact on a game.

Shapeshifting Slime by pianoman373 2016-04-22T10:45:00

Yeah not very complete.... But I think you might be onto something with that mechanic, interesting indeed. Definitely worth investigating and prototyping further, see what you can make of it

Little Big Robot by tsedate 2016-04-23T00:18:00

Nice clean graphics. I'm not a big fan of endless runner games though mainly cause I just get frustrated. I was playing the Web version, and it suddenly crashed. From reading the comments perhaps this was when it was suppose to switch to 3D? I didnt see that happen but would have liked to.

Endless by fakeyou 2016-04-19T09:11:00

Really cool visuals. A chilled out music track in the background would be sweet. The terrain reminded me of water. Perhaps an "easy" level could be an ocean-like blue terrain with less height change. Or perhaps the terrain starts calm before getting more violent and changes colour. Lots of options to expand upon if you want to refine it. Nice

Falling Sky by Kirstine 2016-04-19T09:24:00

Heheh, simple but I had fun. I didnt think the shape shift would have much impact but it was satisfying to go large to easily collect a stream of gems before switching back to small. But my eyes are hurting from the speed once it got faster. Great effort for a first game.

BIRDROCK by murraya2 2016-04-18T05:34:00

Birdrock is the word. Great game, simple and intuitive controls. Awesome stuff. "the definitive bird rock artist..." yeah that made me LOL.

Fandangos team by adrianolobo 2016-04-19T09:06:00

Nice little concept with the spinning wheel for shifting. I found it a bit hard to guess what the enemy was. I'd suggest that the game start a little easier, ie slower movement, slower wheel spin. Then after a half dozen successes and the player has learned, it starts speeding up and getting harder.

Shoop-da-Poop by Dia6lo 2016-04-18T05:26:00

Bizarre, interesting concept. Frustrating a little cause I couldnt quite find a pattern to the movement of the food items. But really neat idea overall

4E: Four Elements by Redpillgamedev 2016-04-19T08:23:00

Great game, with a good amount of polish. The only problem I had was the controls, didnt realise it was in the screenshots (suggest you add a note to description to check them). But once I got going, cool game

Quadripartitus by Phantom Lab 2016-04-18T03:23:00

I didnt quite see the point of the different heros, but perhaps you ran out of time? Good concept though, and nice mood with the audio and cramped dungeon size

Realm Shifters - Collect Orbs Edition by mkghoster 2016-04-28T10:36:00

I didnt quite see the point of the viking. But the realm shifting was nice. I think its a great concept, but needs polish and more refinement in the game mechanics. Graphics were sweet

Ereptile Dysfunction by sexypudding69 2016-04-19T09:15:00

Played the browser version. Couldnt master the climbing ability :(

ShapeThief by Monkey Foundry 2016-04-19T08:59:00

Agree the controls need a tweak, yeah it feels like driving a car. Solid concept otherwise.

LD42 — Running out of space

Demonologist by Ghen 2018-08-13T08:01:26Z

Feels like an old C64 game, neat little game.

Nuclear Arms 6: Waste Wizard's Tricks by Logicon211 2018-08-14T01:31:35Z

Awesome. That champion was too tough for me. Audio was fantastic. I was getting a Black Sabbath vibe from that title announcement, can't think what song (But you've disabled rating for your audio sadly). The story was quick to grasp and really added to the mood. Great job.

Mind Space by ysty 2018-08-13T10:56:19Z

Very cerebral game ;) Audio and Mood was fantastic, felt like a retro sci-fi dystopia.

HexaGlitcher by JOrbits 2018-08-13T09:34:08Z

Hmmm i dunno if I like the visuals or not. I think it like it, but maybe would have appreciated a slightly more subtle image warping effect (my eyes my eyes! :D ). Mechanics are solid. Great entry.

Space Factory by mrnyarlathotep 2018-08-13T00:33:54Z

Hmmm it gets super dark on my screen, I can barely see most of the buildings. Not a bad little idea though. Could be easily expanded with an end goal, and events like a meteor strike, space plague, etc.

As the world burns by super8bitrafa 2018-08-13T00:45:03Z

Music and sfx fit perfectly. Really makes this game shine, 5 stars for audio. Fun to play. Losing the gun upgrade after level change made me sad though

Running out of Keys by OadT 2018-08-13T10:14:17Z

Very clever idea. I just wish the keys were labelled but perhaps that makes it too easy. Maybe a countdown timer to add some time pressure? Great job.

Rick Dervish - Space Cadet by coldfire83 2018-08-13T03:38:29Z

Tough, good use of theme. Great job.

Dashing Joe by CzarSilvestrini 2018-08-13T00:59:01Z

Nice music

Party Person by DrDolan 2018-08-13T10:45:34Z

Is it wrong that I enjoyed punting people out of the house? :D Fun concept.

Foto 5 by wavertron 2018-08-13T03:56:15Z

@coldfire83 Original intention was centering the photo would increase value (done) + trees/rocks blocking an animal would reduce the value (didnt get time to implement). Something that would make you lose money, hadn't thought about that but yeah good idea too.

Foto 5 by wavertron 2018-08-13T07:49:34Z

@shinysteel @gary-beebe Fair enough RE the theme, its obviously very subjective :D My thinking with the theme was "running out of space" is a common warning when you're running low on memory/disk space, so I applied that to the camera hence the limited 5 shots left.

Foto 5 by wavertron 2018-08-13T09:43:37Z

@akros haha, cause a rock is boring ;) Yeah I had intended to include more types of animals but ran out of time. Audio was just recording my voice or whistling and then a few tweeks in Audacity.

@naemis :D

Foto 5 by wavertron 2018-08-14T11:03:07Z

@guardhei @nexusviper yeah I had originally planned to do a bird, bear, deer and rabbit + bigfoot, but ran out of time unfortunately.

Get off my shelf! by OnePlusOne 2018-08-13T10:37:25Z

Strange concept, silly but fun

Quadrata Minima by mccarlp 2018-08-13T07:55:41Z

Pretty cool. I'm not a big puzzle game fan, but this is well polished, easy to understand, and potentially frustrating - what all good puzzle games need to be :D

Stomacho by louckousse 2018-08-13T10:19:41Z

Hmmm. It loads for me. But there isn't anything to eat? Bug perhaps? I just see six empty buildings, and my stomach/timer/score on the right hand side.

Collector by Serious07 2018-08-13T03:45:43Z

Interesting concept. You could explore it more to really develop the puzzle aspect.

Bob's Budget Bomb Disposal by Dark Roast Studios 2018-08-13T09:54:27Z

Pretty cool. Dropping the crates is a little frustrating, sometimes inaccurate (it go into the square further away than expected). The conversion mechanic Red->Green->Yellow is a great idea, nice and simple but increases the complexity.

HANA by Conspite 2018-08-17T12:24:36Z

I can only imagine the serious math wizardry going in that cell growth code. Fantastic entry.

Claustro by Taimidori 2018-08-13T04:56:14Z

Congrats on your first jam. And congrats on the game. Fun to play, simple but effective graphics, music sets the mood. The "visibility loss" mechanic is a clever interpretation of the theme. Great job all round. Lastly... Bats, argh!

Invaded Space by jessifin 2018-08-13T01:11:55Z

OK, at first I was bored. The controls felt janky as hell.... Then the wormhole thing happened, the music kicked in, I felt like I was in the 70s trippin on magic mushrooms. Yeah I didn't know WTF was going on, but I was smiling. Great entry.

Trial by Fire by CorgiRam 2018-08-13T11:22:13Z

Congrats on your first game jam. Graphics were simple but nice. The cracking effect on the player was nice additional visual feedback.

Pyramidion by Matank 2018-08-14T07:42:33Z

Jumping snakes, made me chuckle. Great use of theme with ascending the pyramid. Mood was very good.

Zlinx by frontlinesaint 2018-08-13T05:14:52Z

Great little game. Simple ideas. Tough. Nice work.

Oh no! This is monsters! by Alexey Akulovich 2018-08-13T10:23:43Z

Very nice, well done.

Not Enough Space by Madar Games 2018-08-13T03:30:28Z

Pretty cool. Good use of theme. I really wish there were some sound effects (probably would have been better to spend your time on this than the music haha), as that would have given the game a more responsive feel. Google "Bfxr" for an easy way to generate simple sfx super quick. Also the first gun has horrible aim (not sure if intentional). Good job

the shitty shooter by Peterr 2018-08-13T01:06:38Z

Neat mechanic that fits the theme well.

Flame VS Water by Taner 2018-08-14T01:17:22Z

Pretty neat. Did you try making the "dead" fire block your shots? That would have added an extra mechanical element (would need to re-tune the difficulty though). Good job

ASCII CAVE by George Darling 2018-08-13T03:32:48Z

About as old school as you can get. Shame you couldn't get further with the game mechanics.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Color Clock by mixon00 2022-04-04T08:32:17Z

Simple to play, kinda a classic mechanic.

Perhaps you could have worked the theme into it more. Eg: Have a countdown timer, when it gets to zero its game over. Then every time you pick a colour successfully, the timer gets extra time added. If you pick a wrong colour, the timer gets a penalty amount deducted. The goal being to keep picking colours correctly, keep adding time, and lasting as long as possible. Hmmm, I wonder though if you could have reworked it into a "count-up timer". eg some steam is building up inside a big boiler, you have to keep hitting the colours to let steam/pressure out, but eventually it will explode.

Earworm Jam by ursagames 2022-04-06T03:26:18Z

Bizarre :D

Last Breath by Adrenallen 2022-04-09T10:23:59Z

Really cool. I wish it would scale up when maximising screen though. Great idea you could build on.

SUPER 2 Late by ilikescifi 2022-04-05T09:53:35Z

Darn its too short. Fun little game, great idea for the theme.

Grounded! by ajpl 2022-04-08T22:57:09Z

Congrats on your first entry

Lava is Deadly by OadT 2022-04-04T08:10:33Z

Took me a little while to understand the delay mechanic, but quite a good one for a puzzle game. I dont know that the mechanic truly works for things like delaying a banana peel slide, perhaps it could be reskinned into something more suited. Neat game

Lag Tha Magma by wavertron 2022-04-04T08:57:49Z

Hi @robowarrior1982 yeah I battled with the fullscreen and mouse issues but wasn't able to fix it in time. The best I could do was prevent resizing as that reduces some issues. Try disabling dual screens temporarily and also set any Windows display scaling to 100%.

UPDATE: I managed to fix the screen scaling issues. Play V1.1 if you have screen/window scaling issues.

Lag Tha Magma by wavertron 2022-04-04T09:12:32Z

Hi @kleszcz, you get a build block from digging. Its not obvious, but in the top right corner, you can carry up to 5 build blocks. Thanks for the feedback, I'll update the instructions. I should have made that more clear. The reason was to make it a little more challenging to build up. Perhaps not the best mechanic.

Lag Tha Magma by wavertron 2022-04-04T22:39:23Z

Hi @rolly. Did you play the Windows EXE or the HTML version? The HTML version will lag much more than the Windows EXE.

Lag Tha Magma by wavertron 2022-04-05T20:43:53Z

Hi @glayson, that is a great idea regarding the music, I was struggling to think of what would work. I'll look into it.

Lag Tha Magma by wavertron 2022-04-05T20:51:33Z

Hi @jupiter-hadley thanks for recording and sharing your gameplay

Later... by Kizu 2022-04-05T10:27:24Z

Not really challenging but perhaps cathartic for all us programmers, just mashing away at the keyboard mindlessly and stuff gets done - now thats some next level intellisense. Great game. Top notch art

Spores & Suffocation by IvanPavlov 2022-04-05T06:44:16Z

Great graphics, sound and mood.

The Greedy Pirates by Rolly 2022-04-04T09:52:22Z

Impressive art and sound, solid mechanic. Great job

Childhood Memories by Alexthehuman2 2022-04-05T06:20:16Z

Pretty neat collection of minigames

Too Cute for Space Fights by YogurtTheHorse 2022-04-05T10:49:28Z

Really great art, solid game mechanics. Perhaps just wish the sounds of battle were more visceral/exciting, but then maybe that wouldnt fit the cute style you were going for. The plugin/out felt a little bit slow, but then maybe that was by intention. Fantastic entry.

You Are The Snooze Button by stasm 2022-04-04T10:02:12Z

I do wish there were some sounds, like a slap noise when the hand hits would have been neat. Oh and some screenshake if you were near a hand when it hits the ground. Great job though.

Immune System "Engineer" - Can you Delay the Inevitable Skin Breach? by Aarimous 2022-04-04T03:16:32Z

Simple idea and well executed. Nice job. Played on PC with mouse but this would work well on touchscreen mobile.

Try to Die of Old Age by Dennis Magnusson 2022-04-04T09:03:15Z

hahaha, well done on the "now I will transform into an Orange square...", made me laugh out loud

It's time to die by ScootalooZamyslona 2022-04-05T22:06:36Z

Tough game. Perhaps the shooting speed by the enemies could have started slow then ramped up, I didnt last very long. Great 2-bit(?) graphics, audio matches, and music. I wish there was full screen option, it was a little hard to target the enemies when everything was so small on my screen. Great job

Burger Nightmares by robert18 2022-04-04T08:53:02Z

Gotta love a "Fired-o-meter". I actually found it quite tough to cook the meals. Good job

Timeless by shmador 2022-04-05T10:05:21Z

Kinda half the theme, very strong on the "delay" but less so on the "inevitable" part. But other than that, hard to fault. Fantastic game. Nice job

Wait For It ! by Forgin Bits 2022-04-04T09:06:56Z

Great art and soundfx, nice little bunch of minigames. Short and sharp.

Day-leave-ry by Nidel 2022-04-05T21:57:19Z

Oh man, brutal ending that cant be avoided. Fantastic entry.

Meteoroid Menace by raedeo 2022-04-04T10:07:39Z

Solid base. No doubt some tricky math with the orbits etc. I would have preferred keyboard controls, more realistic than being about to turn super fast via the mouse in any direction. That outer edge blue stuff looks really neat, some sort of shader? With more time, I reckon you could spruce the graphics up quite a bit. Great job for a compo entry.

Loading... by pixel-fabian 2022-04-04T09:37:56Z

I like the reverse/looking out of the monitor thing. Hmmm, perhaps you could have made the movement controls reversed to fit that theme (but maybe that would play poorly). Nice work.

Lava Land by kleszcz 2022-04-04T08:24:21Z

I did a Lava thing too (mine is a sideview platformer thing).

Wish you had more build options, perhaps you ran out of time? This could be expanded. A quick thought, for example, having different shaped structures that you can rotate before placing, a bit like Tetris. So the goal is to pack them in as tightly as possible and not leave any space. The next structure spawns randomly (like Tetris) to make it more difficult.

Drama Crusade by Stenblood 2022-04-05T06:27:33Z

Audio and mood was great.

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Gamma Protocol by pianoman373 2022-10-03T04:51:49Z

I think you could have made it auto-attack (I just held the fire button down the whole time). Pretty sweet little shooter, nicely done

Viam in tenebris by Bewelge 2022-10-03T02:02:31Z

I wish the player moved a little faster but perhaps it would be too easy then. Really nice art and sound.

Bug Out by wavertron 2022-10-03T02:55:49Z

I originally had the Exit move every 10 seconds, but that was too hard. So I changed it to 30s, but that was too easy, so I settled with 20s. Always hard to get balance right in a short amount of time.

Bug Out by wavertron 2022-10-08T02:03:11Z

@milq thanks for the kind words. For pathfinding I'm just using my own AStar implementation (I call it GridStar, but its simply AStar with the assumption that all adjacent cells are connected, so all that really matters is cell weighting, ie a wall is weight 9999, empty cell is 1). In hindsight, I should have looked at using a Dijkstra Map. Right now each bug calculates its own path to the player fairly frequently, and I think that might be the main source of lag in the web version as more and more bugs spawn it starts to struggle.

Bug Out by wavertron 2022-10-08T02:10:58Z

@ben-barsdell thanks for the feedback. Yeah absolutely I wanted to get in some music, but I left it too late. I had about half-hour left when I started to use beepbox.co, but I'm a total noob at music making so trying to make a high tempo action background song in 30 minutes was never going to happen

Binaria by jordantanner 2022-10-06T20:45:51Z

I wish the difficulty was harder, it was very easy to avoid getting hurt. Great art and sound fx, controls solid, no obvious bugs. The 10 second looped music was a neat way to warn the phase is changing and helped set the mood. Really good entry.

Cubical Mayhem by pepnou 2022-10-07T22:34:32Z

Audio was good but it needed a longer loop as it got a bit monotonous. Great graphics, interesting concept. Well done.

Jam Session by Guardaro 2022-10-03T01:58:28Z

I wish there was sound effects when hitting the notes, perhaps you ran out of time? Nice clean art style. The level rotation stuff is really neat.

Asteroids: Driving Home by Rokevicius 2022-10-03T04:42:17Z

Maybe a 1(?) second time where the gameboy screen is completely black would have added to the impact of the theme. The limited-palette low poly artwork is top notch.

J-Menuing by nyxkn 2022-10-06T10:14:20Z

Good use of theme.

Nuke Yourself to Alpha Centauri! by Josh Roby 2022-10-03T03:16:56Z

Area 51 by Bdiaztobarra 2022-10-05T09:57:56Z

You werent lying about pressing E before 3 seconds, I got a big error message popup and the game crashed  I like the graphics and the intro font was nice. Wish you could hold down the button to shoot. Nice shooter, good job

Back for Seconds by Bit Flipz 2022-10-05T10:02:42Z

Interesting choice of music, it kinda doesn't fit the zombie necromancer theme yet it gives the game a certain oddball charm. Nice.

Feed the Deep by Matt Green 2022-10-03T01:45:08Z

Took me a while to work out where to drag the food to (into the lake, which makes sense given the title!). Still found it quite tough to survive long. Nice art, nice music and SFX. Wish the text and icons were a little bigger, hard to read. Very neat idea though.

10-Second Bomb Squad by SpeakWithPlants 2022-10-03T01:52:12Z

Brutal when you die and have to start all over again! Great theme, art, sfx. Really well done

Pandora’s Box [WebGL/Win/Touch] by AJ Studio 2022-10-06T20:59:11Z

I think you could have made enemies/obstacles one hit death, that would have increased the challenge as it was a bit easy I think. Controls were pretty solid to me, maybe a little slidey but nothing unplayable. Graphics and art were nice. A solid entry, well done.
