LD49 — Unstable

A boat in the storm by jacqueslelezard 2021-10-20T17:52:00Z

Pretty fun. The graphics go a long way for being so simple. It would have been good with some anti-aliasing on the boat, though.

First Flight by defectivemelon 2021-10-04T21:27:35Z

Pretty fun game. I really like the way is looks. All of the levels were a bit too simple, though. It would have been fun to see this idea explored a bit more.

Brainxious by ancient-pixel 2021-10-19T17:10:30Z

It's really impressive how well you managed to convey something in such a simple game. I really like these kinds of games. I think adding some sound (maybe even voice acting to replace the text) would go a long way to make the game more impactful.

Unstable Towers by mrnannings 2021-10-19T16:57:29Z

Pretty fun, but also very difficult. Some pieces, such as the + piece, were basically impossible for me to use.

Procedural Spider by Darthdeus 2021-10-19T16:24:32Z

The animation is really nice. Also the music sounds good with the overall tone of the game. I wish there was more to it, though.

Tilt by PTSnoop 2021-10-20T16:23:11Z

Pretty decent. I feel like a lot of the cubes push off the other cubes on the board, which is a bit frustrating. Nice concept, though.

Impulse by phatphaux 2021-10-04T16:55:33Z

Your link seems to lead to a 404. Maybe you forgot to publish the project?

Impulse by phatphaux 2021-10-04T18:21:43Z

Pretty decent. It took me a while to realize I had to tap the buttons to make the drone move the way I wanted to. The visuals were quite nice, especially the death animation.

Newcomen Atmospheric Engine by axelrinaldo 2021-10-19T16:46:06Z

Pretty fun. Interesting to learn about a machine. The game got a bit tedious after a while, though. I managed to survive for 200 seconds.

Uranium goes BOOM! by Dilem 2021-10-19T16:53:36Z

Pretty fun, but I wish it was a bit faster. The springy car in level 4 was fun.

Cesium Factory by Flightless 2021-10-19T17:41:28Z

Decent game, but I think it could have been significantly better with some very simple modifications. First of all, a countdown to the water would be nice to have. Second a button to manually activate the water. Currently it's a bit frustrating having to wait, only to realize the solution didn't work, and then having to wait even longer when trying a new solution

Atlas The Clownlifter by Croped 2021-10-04T21:21:27Z

The game looks and sounds great. I like the idea and it is relevant to the theme. However, I played for a few minutes and did not manage to get a score higher than 1. I definitely think the game could have been easier. Also I think the camera is a bit too zoomed out. Other than that, though, it was good.

THE COVID RACE by Aarre Entertainment 2021-10-19T16:37:54Z

That's a really creative approach to level design. I like the way each element contributes to the overall vibe of the game, from the music to the crt-effects and the colors. Some checkpoints would have been nice, though.

Tipsy Toddlers by Wyatt 2021-10-05T20:07:24Z

Just as terrifying as in real life. The game is pretty basic, but also very polished. The music was really good. My only complaint is that the cursor sometimes feels a bit inaccurate when trying to pick toddlers up. Great game!

Pirelli's Potions by Boon 2021-10-04T16:52:45Z

Pretty fun. Definitely gets a bit stressy after a while, but the difficulty curve was nice. The visuals were nice and the music contributed to the atmosphere. Overall a very solid game.

Badly Designed Cargo Delivery Pad by jka 2021-10-04T17:30:45Z

This was a fun game. It took a while to get used to controlling the thing, but after I got used to it it was fun. I thought the third level was way to difficult, though, especially when compared to the first two.

Ludens Fortuna by deniskazantsev 2021-10-19T18:11:54Z

This was a really fun game to play, but I feel like it may be a bit too easy. Also, I feel like it would be nice to have some numbers at the top for convenience to see what kind of instability you can survive. Overall, though, this was a really cool and innovative game and it feels like something I would play in a physical form if it was available.

Un-Star-ble by Raivk 2021-10-04T16:00:34Z

I really enjoyed playing this thing. I think it would have been great if the player had the ability to zoom and pan the map, so you could try to navigate to different parts. That would probably also make it feel like more of a game. In any case I had a great time blasting off into space and trying to find all of the encounters.

Reacto by magus77 2021-10-04T20:49:13Z

I really liked the atmosphere in this game. The graphics and lighting were nice and the mini games gave the game a lot of flavor. There seems to be a lot of issues with the HTML version, since my controls froze three times, but when that didn't happen I had a decent time.

Neon Saber by Kaish 2021-10-04T21:22:09Z

The game appears to be password-protected.

Neon Saber by Kaish 2021-10-05T17:04:42Z

I really like the overall presentation of this game. The visuals are nice, and the beatboxed music and sound effects really make the spacey/Star Warsey vibe strong. I do, however, feel like the game was a bit too difficult for me. It took probably five attempts to beat the first level. I think the game would be improved if the entire game was slowed down by a bit. I really like the fact that you took the time to write a little story to go along with the game. Great job.

Sticky Wheel by TopperVideoGames 2021-10-04T16:37:06Z

Surprisingly fun game! The wheel-only navigation has a bit too little friction, which makes it feel a bit slippery, but with the sticking stuff the movement felt more natural. The fail cymbal was a bit too loud, however the victory jingle at the end gave me life.

Unstable Emotions by Kieran Clements 2021-10-04T21:01:21Z

Pretty nice idea, however I felt that the platforming was a bit too slow for my liking. Also, the camera angle made it a bit difficult to know where the cube would land when I jumped. I think the game would have been improved by a lot if the emotions had some more in-game representation, rather than just colors.

Barn House Bananza by Frozen Spirit 2021-10-04T17:03:17Z

I get some kind of error when I try to run the game

Unstable States by ELBIDEV 2021-10-05T20:00:29Z

Yeah, I couldn't really figure out what the goal was or if there was any goal at all. The idea of movement changing at random was pretty interesting, though. The visuals are also nice.

UN's Table by Ekoxe 2021-10-05T16:53:32Z

When I first read the title of this game, I laughed. I laughed enough to generate a non-subtle sound in a public place. Luckily no one was around to hear it.

When I started playing the game I was immediately greeted with a scene directly delivering the politically charged message the game very proudly and boldly exclaims throughout the rest of the game. It can clearly be seen that the strong anti-UN narrative is directly referencing the recent indie hit Umurangi Generation. However, instead of delivering this message from the perspective of a civilian, this game subverts the expectation of the player by making the entire game take place within the UN headquarters. With dialogue displaying the juvenile nature of the UN, paired with masterful voice acting, this game knows what it wants to say and it says it with confidence.

The visuals of this game are rendered in a way that is reminiscent of the indie Flash game era of the early 2000s, which is appropriate considering it is very similar to political games from that time period. The graphical style pair nicely with the overall lighthearted and juvenile tone of the game, while simultaneously being complex enough to hint at the incompetence of the United Nations.

The gameplay is relatively simple, and contains some exploitable flaws, clearly being a reference to the loophole-based politics we are used to seeing in the modern age, especially regarding the UN. The obvious exploit is that it is possible to cheese the AI by moving the golden cans to the middle of the table using the normal cans, which makes it impossible for the AI to win the battle, much in the way discussions often go in the UN. By forcing the golden cans to stay in place, the game could have been more traditionally enjoyable, however I believe that the authors made the choice deliberately in order to convey their dismay with the United Nations.

To summarize this game is a golden example on how to create an effective satire to convey a strong message regarding global politics. However, I am disappointed that Italy is not a playable nation, so overall I'd say it's about a two out of ten.

DRILL by dodori 2021-10-04T21:58:00Z

The visuals are great. The gameplay is solid, however I feel like it takes a bit too long for it to get good. The beginning of the game is too slow.

SHORT FUSE by ToxicHouse 2021-10-04T16:43:47Z

Pretty simple game, but the execution was good. I really like the drawing after the final level. At times it was a bit difficult to know which rocks you could fit between. Also I think the game was a bit too easy. I managed to beat it without exploding quite easily. The music was pretty decent.

Space Ace in: Meltdown Madness by dreamscale 2021-10-19T16:32:08Z

Pretty fun. I liked the sound effects, and the fact that you managed to create all of this in such a short time is impressive. It was kinda annoying that you couldn't hit enemies close to the border of the screen, though.

Green Leaf and the Garbage Truck by Cookie_CHR 2021-10-04T20:33:53Z

That music is intense, which is appropriate, because recycling is also intense. The core gameplay was nice, however it would have been better if there was some progression, for example if the trash got faster as the game went on. The graphics were nice.

Ropy Woply Doo by Jackaljk 2021-10-04T21:33:17Z

Actually really good. I love the sound. The weird camera rotation actually made it feel like balancing on a rope. The difficulty was good, but I feel like the cannonballs should have had slightly more weight to them.

Full Tilt by Kiet 2021-10-20T16:30:27Z

Really cool idea, and the fact that it works so seamlessly is impressive on its own. I don't know if my phone's the issue here, but sometimes when I tilted my phone heavily it went in the opposite direction. Also, I feel like some kind of in-game feedback of the direction you are currently turning in, like an arrow, would be nice.

RadioFrog by Dylen 2021-10-04T21:43:06Z

I like the way this game looks. I think the vibe could have been brought to the next level if there was sound, though. I also think it was a bit too difficult. I think this problem could have been fixed if the enemies moved slower. The explosion was cool.

Dranker by mihail 2021-10-05T17:11:51Z

Pretty fun game, but a bit too simple for my liking. I really like the cutscenes in the beginning. The music, while jarring at first, actually fits extremely well with the gameplay and style of the game. The scoring system was a bit confusing, but I managed to score four points, which I think is pretty good.

Orchaostra by Bruno Cafe 2021-10-04T15:48:33Z

I like the visual style of this game. I think the controls could have been more intuitive if the keys were placed next to each other, for example Q, W, E, and R instead of A, D, left and right. Also I think the song got a bit too difficult relatively early. Overall I think it was a very well made game, especially in terms of sound and graphics.

Hack N' Shoot by Jake Summer 2021-10-05T20:14:27Z

I like the way this game looks. It reminds me of Pony Island quite a lot. The idea of adding cheats was interesting. The aimbot cheat made the game playable without a mouse, which was nice. I think it would have been great if you fixed the issue where enemies spawn too close to the player.

Happy Glasses by VarunDevs 2021-10-04T16:22:34Z

Nice idea, pretty good execution. The music sure is... something. It would be fun to see this idea explored more in depth. A few small things could be improved, though. I think the background would have been better if it was a darker color. Currently the contrast between the blue droplets and the background is a bit low, so it's hard to see if you drop any. Also it feels like the level with a long line of spinning squares is impossible. I have not been able to get more than 128/130 droplets into the glass, even when I check to make sure I don't spill any.

Unstable Block Stacker by Kraxxi 2021-10-19T17:46:57Z

I was expecting another generic stacking game, but the physics and wobbliness in this one made it so much better than I expected. Also, I like the sound effects

Ouch! by Gabriel Chan 2021-10-04T20:14:12Z

This game gave me Disaster Report flashbacks. It looks fantastic and the music is neat. I like how the levels have different music with similar melodies. I think the game was slightly too easy, though, and I feel like it would have been more fun with a more responsive physics system.

the end by Dennis Magnusson 2021-10-04T17:39:26Z

@Furfel Haha, sorry for making you look at my awful jam-code :P I have considered making a set of utils to make this kinda thing easier, but I have just been too lazy. I probably spent like half of the time this jam to make the cutscene things work properly.

the end by Dennis Magnusson 2021-10-04T17:40:30Z

@ludokultur @biped-potato @thesedatedprince Thanks for playing my game :) Glad y'all enjoyed it.

the end by Dennis Magnusson 2021-10-04T17:56:14Z

@jka Thanks a bunch! Glad you liked it.

the end by Dennis Magnusson 2021-10-06T20:07:41Z

@betamorfosis Thanks for playing! I originally planned to add jumping to the game, so WASD and IJKL could be used, however I felt that it didn't really fit so only the left and right keys for each hand remained.

Riot City by metalboyrick 2021-10-04T18:13:09Z

Pretty fun idea. The music is a certified bop. It took me a while to figure out that I could pay the mobs, but once I did I had a great time. However, when the anger level gets too high I found that it was basically impossible to pay the mobs in time, which made it basically an instant game over.

Lord Glutton by Spolarium 2021-10-04T17:36:39Z

Very good presentation! The game felt a bit basic, and the music didn't really fit the gameplay, but the graphics were great.

Save The Core! by electricicebird 2021-10-04T21:38:06Z

Nothing seems to happen when I press X. Other than that, the game seems fine. It looks pretty good. Would have been good if the music loop was longer.

Leap Frog! by FALKon2246 2021-10-05T20:21:04Z

Pretty fun. Definitely a challenging game. It was difficult to figure out where the frog would land at first, but once I got used to the jump it got a lot better. Would have been nice to have some music in the background and maybe a bit of a difficulty curve.

Ball of Chaos by OmegaFalcon 2021-10-04T17:18:26Z

This is probably the best game I have played so far. You had an interesting idea and explored the heck out of it. I was expecting like five levels, but there were so much more. A few of the levels seemed to be beatable in a "non-intended" way, but most of the game was well-designed. It did run quite poorly on my ancient laptop, though, which made it difficult to play, especially on the later levels where you are being chased. Overall, though, very good game!

UNSTABLI by ALAN001 2021-10-04T16:09:57Z

Pretty interesting game. It was a bit difficult to figure out how everything worked at first, but once I figured it out I had a decent time. It was definitely a bit too difficult. I think it would have been better if the enemies HP was decreased a bit. The visuals were nice.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Revenge is Inevitable by minibobbo 2022-04-06T10:52:30Z

Pretty good! I like how it's designed to be played fast, but it still worked fine if I wanted to play it slow. No issues playing with a touchpad instead of a mouse. Also the soundtrack is a certified bop and really gives me Persona 5 vibes. My main gripe is that sometimes too much precision is required and the character doesn't always move like you expect him to. Sometimes when I would click on a wall he would run instead. Otherwise, though, great stuff!

CRAB IS INEVITABLE! by luthwyhn 2022-04-10T20:08:31Z

Crab is indeed inevitable! Took a while to get used to the controls, but once I figured it out I had a good time. Would have been nice to have some sound effects.

Color Clock by mixon00 2022-04-04T08:53:46Z

Simple but effective idea. I could see myself playing this on my phone if I was very bored. The visuals are good, but I think the indicator arrow thing could be replaced by something more punchy, for example by making the section glow or something.

FYI there appears to be an issue where both the background and some sections of the circle turn black when you retry many times, making the game impossible to play

CRASHLANDING by cleitoneldorn 2022-04-04T13:15:27Z

Kind of a simple game, but it works! I really like the music and how it transitions when you beat the game. It could definitely have been an interesting game if there were a few more mechanics to use instead of just dumping the cargo.

Can't Escape Your Past by Marcenat 2022-04-05T21:01:27Z

I think I played the first 8ish levels and I think this idea has great potential if expanded and refined. I like the way the music speeds up and slows down when you're in the zones.

My main complaint with the game is that the timings often feel too tight. In many cases I understood what I was supposed to do, but I couldn't because I would get caught in the last second, which is frustrating. I feel like the game would have been much more enjoyable if it was a bit more forgiving.

Inevitable by orukinawa 2022-04-04T12:31:28Z

Great take on the theme! The game looks really cool with the background and intro screen. I like the way the projector slows down when the inevitable happens.

Sir Blocksalot by jhandsy 2022-04-05T21:46:59Z

It took a while to figure out what I was supposed to do, but once I understood I had a good time. It would be nice to have some score or something to keep track of how good you're doing. I don't know if it's something weird on my end but the music seemed to only play in the left channel? The sound effects played in both the left and right channel, but the music seemed to be stuck on the left.

Also, I did softlock the game a couple of times, when I spawned in a place where I couldn't move.

Pass The Torch by Dan Smith 2022-04-04T15:33:48Z

The graphics are amazing. This feels like it would fit really well as a slower section in the third act of a long story-based game. It is really slow, though, which would fit well in a real game, but for a game jam it's just a bit annoying to play. I understand that the slowness is for emotional effect, but playing the game is just kind of a pain. I think this issue could have been remedied if there was some more mechanic to manage other than just holding D, for example a system where you have to ration food to the travelers.

Overall, though, great atmosphere. Definitely the best-looking game I've played so far.

Lava is Deadly by OadT 2022-04-04T08:46:58Z

I like the idea, it's a really fun twist on the theme. I really appreciate that you went for an "explain by doing" angle to level design, however I felt like I didn't really understand the block pushing mechanics in the later parts of the game. Also the direction of the banana slip took me a while to understand. The music is actually nice and calming and fitting, so don't be afraid to turn up the volume a bit.

Also FYI, I got an error at one of the later levels that said "this.level.grid[i] is undefined". I think it was the third to last

LD50: The Mages Massacre by LMB 2022-04-15T14:31:36Z

Very good writing! It's difficult to make a text-based game fun, but I think you did a good job. It would have been nice if the character customization had a better user experience, but it's serviceable.

Weed it & Reap by JavaSaurus 2022-04-05T21:21:11Z

Dang! That's a real charming game! Basically the opposite of what I expect a game jam game to be: really polished and kinda basic otherwise. My main complaint is that the movement felt kinda slow and delayed, which is a shame given that it is the main activity. Everything else, though, is great! I loved the voice clips and graphics. It's impressive that you managed to create a functioning leaderboard. I'm happy to say that I managed to get into the top 8, but I feel like that was mostly due to luck.

M.A.D.D. by Flying Dog Fish 2022-04-05T22:20:11Z

I managed to beat the game. It was a bit too easy when I figured out that I could just build a wall around myself and win. I felt like the turrets weren't very effective compared to the walls. Anyway, I like the unique control scheme. Avoiding bullets with a mouse felt really good. I also really liked the way the music got more and more intense over time, which fit with the theme of the game.

You Are The Snooze Button by stasm 2022-04-04T10:11:00Z

The visuals in this game are on point. The idea is funny and the game controls well. My main complaint is that the hands kind of come out of nowhere, making them very difficult to avoid. It would have been nice to have some sound as well.

Also I feel like the jump is not useful in many situations. I think it would be better to have something like a short temporary boost instead of the jump. That would also fix the issue with avoiding the hand.

AI: Raining Cats and Dogs by zc74560 2022-04-06T12:27:32Z

Pretty fun game. A very accurate depiction of working in ML. Really required a lot of focus. When the red text started appearing it became a bit too difficult to keep up. I think it may have been better if there was only like 20% red texts instead of 50.

Pellet by Austin Sierra 2022-04-04T12:09:55Z

Interesting idea. When I saw the screenshot I assumed I was going to be playing snake but in fact the snakes were going to be playing me. I liked how the music and sound effects.

My main gripe with the game is that it takes a bit too long for the games to get interesting. For the first 30ish seconds you can basically survive by doing nothing.

Overall, though, very fun idea and a great take on the theme!

Macler by Teun de Vries 2022-04-04T12:21:33Z

Fun game! It took me a while to figure out what I was supposed to do, but once I got it going it was a good time. I survived for 249 seconds. I like the drawings and animations. They fit the theme of the game perfectly. The sounds and music were also nice.

Overall nice game! I appreciate the effort of putting in an online scoreboard (even though it doesn't work on web) I hope Macler is not based on a real person... :)

Space Voyager by IzhVaryag 2022-04-04T08:15:25Z

Pretty good game. I like the audio design, it feels very atmospheric. I feel like the game would be more fun if it was more fast-paced. Currently you are rewarded for going very slow, which is not very fun. I got 6 planets on my first try.

🐸 Froggy Thunder: Toad-al Recall 🐸 by MEGA Marlon 2022-04-05T22:09:01Z

I love the cursed PS1 game aesthetic. Like the other commenters, I could not figure out what I was supposed to do, but I liked what I played. I had some issues where I would get stuck on the geometry and it took me a while to figure out that I could only turn while moving forward.

Anyway decent time. Looking forward to not sleeping tonight, because that thing will haunt my nightmares.

Loose screw by Codexzier 2022-04-04T19:46:46Z

It took me a little while to figure out what to do, but once I got going it was pretty clear. I like how the music builds up over time. It would have been nice with some sound effects, though.

IBYH!? by Trabasura 2022-04-06T11:05:58Z

I like the idea, but some details made this quite difficult to play. I feel like there is some visual clarity missing, because I couldn't figure out how to do a few of the games and they all felt impossible to complete on the first try. If there was a slight pause before the game for the player to figure it out it would have been better. Also it would have been nice if the time between games was slightly shorter.

Overall, though, nice game! I liked the music and visuals.

Debt Train (card construction game) by Christian Zommerfelds 2022-04-04T09:49:58Z

Interesting game. Unlike in real life, my main problem in this game was that I had way too much money. Also I had way too many stations that I couldn't do anything with. I think the game could be pretty fun if it was more difficult and more balanced. I think if the amount of rail cards and debt cards were increased in the deck it would be a more strategic experience.

stop some of the bullets by nathanoc 2022-04-04T19:59:13Z

This is a great game! It looks good. It sounds good. It feels good. The length/pacing/progression is good. I managed to survive for about 1:20.

I did find a minor bug, though. When you collect an expand powerup while shrinking from a previous expand, you don't expand again. I think every time you collect an expand powerup the expand time should be reset instead.

The Third Age by szym 2022-04-04T12:43:11Z

Great take on the theme! Really reminded me of the time when I worked at a retirement home. I thought the game was a bit too slow, though. Also you barely make enough money to actually use the shop within a reasonable amount of time while playing the game.

The visuals and audio are great and really fit with the game. With some more balancing I can see this being a really fun game.

Try to Die of Old Age by Dennis Magnusson 2022-04-03T20:20:35Z

@beardmachine Thank you very much!!! Glad you liked it!

Try to Die of Old Age by Dennis Magnusson 2022-04-04T08:55:54Z

@jaune4ttendgd Thanks a lot for playing! :)

Try to Die of Old Age by Dennis Magnusson 2022-04-04T09:05:34Z

@wavertron Haha, yeah sometimes you have to make compromises when you can't figure out how to draw animations.

Try to Die of Old Age by Dennis Magnusson 2022-04-04T09:30:24Z

@yamzho Haha thanks! I keep telling myself that I should actually learn how to draw, but it's so difficult.

@ath-ai lol, please don't lower that grade when you realize how bad the sound effects are.

Try to Die of Old Age by Dennis Magnusson 2022-04-04T09:36:27Z

@danashrulez hehe, yeah I probably made the last level a bit too difficult. There is no RNG, though, so you can just learn the patterns by heart.

Try to Die of Old Age by Dennis Magnusson 2022-04-04T18:25:24Z

@mohammad-aldehayat Thanks haha, The last level was probably too hard, so I might just upload a video of the ending :)

Try to Die of Old Age by Dennis Magnusson 2022-04-04T19:26:41Z

@mohammad-aldehayat @danashrulez Okay I uploaded a video of the last level and the ending if you want to check it out ;)

Try to Die of Old Age by Dennis Magnusson 2022-04-06T17:00:04Z

@guy-girmonsky Yeah, as you can probably image I was pretty annoyed with the audio stacking while developing the game, so I definitely considered doing something about it but laziness got the best of me.

Try to Die of Old Age by Dennis Magnusson 2022-04-06T19:05:46Z

@flying-dog-fish YOOOOOOOO! You are the first god gamer! Thank you so much for playing the game! Glad you liked it enough to beat it!

@lmb OOOH YEEEEAAAAAHHH! Another god gamer! Thank you so much for enjoying my game!

Try to Die of Old Age by Dennis Magnusson 2022-04-18T15:24:28Z

@tubadude99 YOOO! Great job! Thanks for playing! I definitely did have some Undertale boss fights in mind when I made this game. I also noticed after playing the levels that there are quite a few ways to cheese them. My favorite was always the bottom right corner.

You shall not pass by Senso 2022-04-04T09:28:09Z

Pretty fun game. Love the voice acting and sound effects! There is some clever level design in some levels, but I feel like a few of the first ones were a bit too simple and could probably be skipped. I got to level 15, where I finally got sick of those gosh darn purple things.

Overall, very good game!

Stay Afloat by Fredrik Rosell 2022-04-05T21:57:58Z

I had a decent time. The difficulty was reasonable for a game jam game. I liked the twist at the end. It would have been more interesting if the power output mechanic was used for something. Also the fact that you changed the name because it didn't look nice on a title screen is very relatable :)

Kessler by EagleV 2022-04-04T12:02:51Z

Pretty fun game! Played a couple times, survived for 57 seconds. The visuals are really impressive. The fact that it's a 3D globe with lights and shadows is cool. I like the O2 and O3 tanks on the side.

The music is a bit harsh on the ears and the camera gets a bit wonky when you fly around the north pole, but otherwise, not much to complain about!

Delay the inevitable - Death by sephyr 2022-04-04T19:38:01Z

This idea has some potential. I feel like the game would have been much improved if there was more sound (even though the sound that is in the game is amazing). Currently, though, the game is a clever base that you could probably make something fun out of.

4&1/2 Lives by Tristian Tee 2022-04-06T12:41:29Z

This was pretty good. Kinda gave me some doodle jump vibes. I did have some issues where it was impossible to keep going. Only being able to double jump after reaching the peak was a bit annoying at first, but it worked out once I got used to it. Also, after a while the walls on the side disappear and the side movement get really slow. I don't know if this is a bug or a feature, but it caused me to die twice. I think overall it would have been more fun if the sideways movement was faster.

First LD by jaune4ttendGD 2022-04-04T09:02:00Z

I love the way the player and the monsters look in this game. The idea is pretty good and the difficulty appears to increase as you progress, which is nice. I did have some issues where the monsters spawn right in your face when you collect the star, which makes it impossible to survive.

Otherwise though, good job. It's impressive that you managed to make this within such a short time of learning Godot. I remember having lots of difficulties learning it when I tried Godot for the first time.

Distract The Cat by danashrulez 2022-04-04T10:18:38Z

Cute game! I love the sunglasses on the cat. I feel like the game would be better if there was some more progression. Currently I felt like it was a bit too easy and I probably could have gone forever.

Also while playing my eyes were focused on the laser so I couldn't pay attention to the distraction meter at the bottom. If the distraction gauge was part of the background somehow I think it would have been easier to guess how well I was doing.

Anyway great game. Loved that pixel art.

Delay the Raptors by Jared Lomangino 2022-04-04T20:48:18Z

I've probably played 20 jam games in the past day, and this is my favorite, but I can't articulate why. There's just something about the weird running animation, the way people give you tasks and the music that has not been quantized and thus feels kinda off that makes this feel a bit like the open-world part of No More Heroes.

The minigames were fun. I enjoyed beating up the kids. The dog minigame took a while to figure out, though, but I got it on my third try, so I managed to get to heaven.

As some other commenters have pointed out, the timer is a bit long (unless you have failed a mission and have to read the weird text)

The Boar by SergioPoverony 2022-04-04T09:59:04Z

Fun game! I like the visuals. Goats are scary. I survived for 1:30. The sound effects were a little bit harsh on the ears, but I appreciate their inclusion nonetheless.

Time's... Up! by Waysneighborgo2 2022-04-04T13:06:01Z

Great execution of the idea! It fits the theme well and the graphics and music work very well together. The dash sound effect was a bit too loud, though. I think the normal difficulty was a bit too easy. The hard one was more reasonable and should probably be the default.

Gary by Mohammad Aldehayat 2022-04-04T15:54:24Z

My highscore is 20.92. Really good use of the theme. I like that the game is fast to play, however I feel that the result may be a bit too RNG-dependent. I think it would have been more fun if there were more kinds of items, so you had to prioritize which item to pick up.

Anyway, great game and the mission to "stay alive for as long as possible even though life is suffering" is a vibe.

LD54 — Limited Space

Astrolabing the Arctic by sebbernery 2023-10-09T20:54:57Z

Very simple, but it gets the job done. The music is... music. I wish there was more of a challenge to the game. I like the very subtly placed message at the end of the game

Awesome Spaceship Dude! by BangKerpow 2023-10-04T18:36:59Z

Good stuff, bro! Really fun idea, and you did a good job executing it. Pretty difficult at first to get used to, but after a while it feels great! One minor complaint is that the speed boost is a bit too effective. Like, having more than two is just unconfortable. Also, while I like the music it would be nice if it had more than one bar repeating with two power chords. Also, I feel like sometimes the turrets and speed boosts don't connect with the ship when you expect it to. Is it because you can only mount them on the edge of the ship? Anyway, this game is a real one! Enjoyed it!

Diana's Magical Journey by GameDevTraum 2023-10-03T20:29:20Z

Pretty good! The little story was cute and the graphics were very impressive. I wish there was more depth to the gameplay. Introducing some additional mechanics instead of just fetching stuff would probably make it a bit more fun.

Pandalele by owca 2023-10-04T18:15:11Z

This is really impressive for a compo! Very polished and lots of small details, like the wind in the plants make it feel very alive. I really like pandas, so this game really spoke to me on an emotional level!

Dwarf Monastery by hotaloca 2023-10-04T18:54:28Z

It's a bit hard to figure out the game. I got the first level, then at the second something is probably wrong, but I can't figure out what it is. The game looks really nice though, and the sound design is nice, however some of the sound effects (like the pickaxe thing) makes me feel really uncomfortable for some reason. Maybe it's just my headphones. The sound when you move the text to the timetable is also weirdly bassy, which also makes it feel like a bone in my neck is cracking or something.

Misplaced Tie by knexator 2023-10-09T20:58:57Z

Pretty cool! I expected it to be a lot easier than it actually was. Good job with the art!

Limited Heart by Dennis Magnusson 2023-10-01T15:54:05Z

Limited Heart? More like Limited FART!

Limited Heart by Dennis Magnusson 2023-10-02T16:59:40Z

@frogman Thanks for playing! I realize it was a bit rude of me to not make the impossibility of the last level more clear, so I wrote a little note on it in the text thing. I'll blame the hexagon thing on Unity being annoying. As for the space rant, you didn't miss much, unless your name is David.

Limited Heart by Dennis Magnusson 2023-10-02T17:02:57Z

@endurion Thank for play! This may be a controversial opinion coming from a european, but I actually like the random interruptions in American sports. Like, I went there and saw a baseball game and it was actually kinda fun! But yeah, it's definitely not for everyone As for the rotation thing, it was written in the instructions on the itch page, but I edited it to make it a bit clearer.

Limited Heart by Dennis Magnusson 2023-10-04T15:32:30Z

@queenofsquiggles Very funny that you mention the audio sync because the audio was recorded separately from the video! If you pay attention you can tell that it's just the same like 13 video clips repeated and recycled. I did that to make the sound better and editing easier

Limited Heart by Dennis Magnusson 2023-10-06T07:04:33Z

@henk hmmm, that's weird. I did use slightly different export settings on that video for reduce file size, so maybe that's related. I did also record it on my laptop camera, while everything else was done on my phone, so maybe there's some weird Apple codec used

@designernap Yeah, is weird how no one else does it, because it's a great way to tell a story when you suck at drawing. It's actually the second time I've used FMVs in jam games (though the first one was probably better)

@ciaranw Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it. I agree that the audio mixing want optimal, the mic gain was way too low for the whispery voice and I didn't take the time to mix it on multiple headphones, which probably would have helped. Also seeing the number of comments about the last level makes me kinda regret that decision, but oh well, there's nothing I can do about it now

Craftship Ltd. by pixel-fabian 2023-10-03T21:37:38Z

Took a couple attempts to figure it out, but I got a score of 140. Really interesting game with a lot of strategy involved. It would probably help the game feel more "alive" if there was a little bit of movement on the screen and maybe some ambient music. Overall, though, it's a pretty cool game!

LazerPhaser by EvilMurlock 2023-10-03T21:18:32Z

Neat concept! It was a bit tedious to get anything done, and I really wish it was possible to pick up mirrors that you've already placed, but the puzzles are very well designed and they're never to easy. I got stuck on level 12, but up until that point it was a reasonable challenge level, though the enemies are a bit annoying at times!

Considerate Inferno by AidanBacon 2023-10-03T20:57:49Z

Excellent game! There's a clear artistic vision here that is executed very well. One small issue is that when you press N to skip a level you don't get the camera shot or the text before, so if you skip one level it can be difficult to understand what you are supposed to do in the next one. Nevertheless this game is really good game and everyone who complains about the framerate are probably annoying PC gamers who haven't played EDF. Although I wish the fire spread a bit faster, but that's because I'm an impatient little shit. Good job!

It Gazes Back by Sylvic 2023-10-16T15:33:07Z

I like seeing something outside the box in these jams, and a VN certainly fits that label. Well written and interesting. I wish there was more sound effects, especially in the first half of the game, but given the time restriction I think you did a great job!

Bikepacking Planner by MozokEvgen 2023-10-04T16:40:33Z

Nice! Simple game, but it does what it needs to do. I love the relaxed jazz improv in the background. Normally I would probably complain about the fact that the sound quality is pretty bad and I can hear a person breathing, however it kinda fits with the artstyle of the game. A couple extra costumers would have been nice, to make the experience a bit longer.

Dwarf Life by arvis 2023-10-14T13:25:58Z

Pretty neat! It gets a bit slow and consfusing once you run out of explosions, but it was a pretty good time anyway.

FYI this game (and other Godot games) works on Mac. You just have to use Safari and right click and open the game in a new tab. Kind of annoying, but it does work, and I played it on a Mac without issues.

Mediterranean Smuggling by TTKayttis 2023-10-04T16:32:29Z

Props for making an actual serious game. Took a few turns until I figured out what was going on or what I was supposed to do, but once I did I enjoyed the experience. I feel like fact that the game is very unbalanced and unfair is accurate, given the situation it is based on.

Defrag by henk 2023-10-04T19:07:15Z

That was fun! I managed to get a score of 62... out of 54? But yeah, the game is fun! Though I feel like the sound effects feel kinda random. Like I don't know when they are supposed to trigger and I rarely hear them, but there are clearly sound effects in the game.

I feel like the controls could be made a bit more intuitive. It takes a while to figure out how to do things at first and having to move your mouse all the way to the "clear selection" button takes a bit longer than it should (it could, for example, be mapped to a right click), but once you get used to it it's pretty fun.

Defrag by henk 2023-10-05T06:45:32Z

@henk ah, cool! I'm using Orion on Mac, which is basically just Safari. As for the right click, I actually didn't try it, I just assumed it wasn't in there, and that it would be a good idea, buy it's great that it's in there, would definitely make the experience nicer!
