Pretty spot on on the theme, nice job overall. Took a while to understand the mechanics

Great take on the theme! Really reminded me of the time when I worked at a retirement home. I thought the game was a bit too slow, though. Also you barely make enough money to actually use the shop within a reasonable amount of time while playing the game.

The visuals and audio are great and really fit with the game. With some more balancing I can see this being a really fun game.

Wow, caring for people in an assisted living home with death being inevitable, wonderfully dark yet also light and fun.

gonzo13 2022-04-04 23:51

Sorry but Mr. Sasaki is dead. Good mechanics. The game started like easy-clicker but it's going complex. Good entry!

Very fun concept, I managed to have enough for a TV ! Yeah :) It was fun to play, graphics were really nice. Well done

Great fit for the theme, very polished visuals, audio and gameplay mechanics.

larsdu 2022-04-05 16:54

Very sophisticated mechanics. Well done!

Very complex game for a compo game in the good sense of the words! Managing old people it's a very good (dark-humor) take on the theme. I would make it a little bit more quick at the beginning but overall it's a superb entry

bauke-regnerus 2022-04-05 20:48

Fun management game that slowly picks up the pace. I think the character info would work better with a hover popup instead of having to click the close button all the time. Good job!

alexascher 2022-04-06 10:06

A very solid game with room for improvement. A permanent ui with character information would be nice. Good job.

sdelay 2022-04-06 14:18

good management game with dark humor, love it :black_joker: The popup modal to have a resident is not ideal to display informations. I made 252pts !

I enjoyed this entry! Good resource management game, nice graphics and sounds. It fits the theme well and has a certain mood that all works together. The balance was reasonable.

Some suggestions would be to make the needs more visible. The window over the board isn't ideal. Perhaps a track along the side where they stay. More variety in the residents would also help distinguish them. The background track could have some variation so the looping is less evident.

All around I like it. Great job making a game in 48 hours!

@blockerz @sdelay @alexascher @bauke-regnerus Thank you all for your feedbacks. It's much appreciated

I indeed had most of that in mind. Stats on hover, more residents sprites, some juicy particles for when you fulfill a need & much more (a bit overscoped for 48h ^^)

I'm already implementing most of it & will release a post-jam update.

Thanks a lot for playing

@szym I'd add that your itch site inspired me to up my game and clean mine up. :)

The inevitable march of time consumes us all.

damn this is hard and mess me up. take me a while to figure out I should rearrange the starting furniture and let the elder enjoy as much item as possible at the same time. Having said that, this is a really solid entry and I love the complexity of this game, it feels great to find out a good pattern to assign the things and try to save those old guys as long as I can

Interesting take on a management sim. I only wish I could click on furniture the same way I can click on residents to see what needs each bit of furniture will satisfy. A couple of them weren't very obvious, and you could just repeat the icon so I didn't have to guess.

Smart idea and well executed. The only annoying thing is having to click on each resident to see their stats but overall the game is super polished! Good job !

lmb 2022-04-16 21:08

Solid compo entry, feeling very complete and polished. The graphics are _really_ nice, except for one thing: I found it a bit hard to interpret the small icons in the resident stats (especially the chess board and the plant). The interpretation of the theme is spot-on (if dark)! The music felt repetitive quickly, but it is more than good enough for a compo game. I like the gameplay too, it's different from what we see most often in Ludum Dare.

Thumbs up!

Nice idea and polished execution! Had a hard time to figure out what some of the stat meant and how to deal with them. Also, the shop is too expensive so you can buy very little stuff. Looks great for a compo game and the music fits well, nice job!
