LD42 — Running out of space

Delivery Boi by JCMonkey 2018-08-13T04:13:29Z

"Get off the road you animal" That was so unexpected that I actually snorted. Are the people walking on the street just mugging me if I walk into them? Why are the packages being dropped off across the street seems inefficient lol. I really like the sound design of the game and the interactions it adds between the player and the environment. I do wish it was a bit faster paced. I also like the art style you went for! I'm not sure if the white outlines were intentional but I think they add a bit of flavor and make it feel like the world is made of paper.

Shrinking Panes by Pennycook 2018-08-13T03:27:37Z

I love it! I think the story is actually hilarious. This is the best game I've played so far! At the end I let the blue block live in hopes that I would get a funny dialog. Disappointingly I didn't. But I really truly loved it! The only thing negative I noticed were the decals when you shoot the glass float off of it and the red block looks like it's behind the glass if it gets away from you at a certain angle.

Out of Inventory Space! by aaranos 2018-08-13T04:37:54Z

You have really high quality music: I am actually blown away at how good it is! Although the main menu theme is a huge contrast to the game play theme. I will say I really like the art style. I got my brother to play a round with me. I think you did a really good job making it. I just wish there was other things you could do with the items besides sell them. It would also be nice to be able to choose how many players are playing.

Stack Rush! by smirnov48 2018-08-30T04:22:43Z

I really like the music! I managed to get to 1250 without cheating. I love the line clear effect! I do wish you could move around a bit faster. Also during my third play through a box fell on me and didn't kill me but when I jumped I died. Good job!

Borderblast by C0nst4ntin 2018-08-13T21:16:37Z

I like the art style. Reminds me of one of my favorite youtuber's art style. I will say that I found that you can walk to the castle after touching the gray bars and you will beat the level. It's a nice short game but I do wish there was music. I think the player movement does feel floaty but I don't mind that since you do jump pretty high.

Packboy by piece ofcheese 2018-08-13T04:18:42Z

Love the art style! I wish there was a simple toon to go along with it. I also really like the color scheme and how clean it is. One thing I noticed though is that it seems people don't me packing their things with other peopel's things. Very unrealistic 0/10! Overall it was a very good submission and I don't have much negative to say besides the music thing. Very solid entry.

GRAVITY by Stellary 2018-08-13T04:07:06Z

Took a few tries before I got it but it's a very nice concept. I love how you used real planet data. I also like the art style despite it being so plain and simple, I think it fits well. It reminds me of those "sand" games. The one thing that was a bit counter intuitive was that the velocity line wasn't inverted like most games which sort of sent my earth plummeting into the sun. I do wish there was some sounds and it was a bit easier.

Merge Machine by matt-tuttle 2018-08-13T03:15:05Z

I really like the sound effect of joining the joints? Wrenches? Together? It did take me a few tries to understand how to play, as I couldn't find a controls file or guide anywhere. I do like the minimalist design but I think you should add a "predictor" field where it shows what orientation would come after the current item I place. I lost a lot of space because I had no idea what was coming up. I also couldn't figure out how to expand until the option to came up at $450 and I failed to get to $450 the first two times I played. I can't get the things to intersect like in your picture at the top right. Also do the slanted things act as both vertical and horizontal things or are they their own thing?

A Bunny's Tale by undefinist 2018-08-13T04:43:34Z

Your logo screen is just *mwah* buenisimo! I love the art style that you went with: I'm a huge sucker for pixelated pixels. I also think the music is very fitting for the art style and I like it a lot! I like that you implemented an auto save but at the same time I wanted to restart so that I could retry something and turns out I can't go back, maybe add a menu to let us restart the level? I didn't get the carrot generation mechanic however, could you explain your reasoning behind it?

A Bunny's Tale by undefinist 2018-08-13T04:54:01Z

@undefinist I decided to click through and I beat the game. When I bought 3 jumps and there were still more I felt like I just got trolled. If I'm honest. Good joke. But only because I beat it.

High Castle by Wheffle 2018-08-13T21:42:16Z

I really liked this game. It was very engaging. I think you should have made the island crumble more as it didn't really affect me besides making one of my crystals impossible to use as a tower. Really like the audio aspect of them game. Story was surprisingly also pretty good for what it is. Why do the green snake things listen to the pirates?

OVERLOADED by rainysolar 2018-08-13T03:21:58Z

This is a really polished game for the most part. I really like the graphics and the sound effects when you click on the people's numbers. What I'd change is rather than clicking the number let me click on the person. This would make it easier and much more fun to play. What is your efficiency? Mine was 161 I believe.

Stack City by HEXIEZ123 2018-08-13T03:37:21Z

I love the idea of dropping the buildings on the ground and letting them bounce to see where they land! I'd like to imagine the more artistically the building lands the more money the tenant pays despite living in absolute discomfort. Is there an end game or can I make money infinitely? I wish their were some meaty impact sounds for the buildings hitting each other. Also the graphics menu's sliders have a graphical glitch where the sliding portion flickers and disappears.

Zombie Invasion by YamiOG 2018-08-14T03:55:04Z

I really like the music and sound effects. I also really like the character art style. let me ask you a question: do you see the zombies as destroying the land or as infecting it? When I shot an enemy if my first bullet hit I think the next ones, if the bullets would have hit the zombie, don't fly out and apply damage without hitting or maybe just teleport. I couldn't kill the ghosts without using the super power. Is that on purpose?

DON'T RUN OUT OF SPACE by Paden Shorey 2018-08-13T03:47:33Z

OH MY GOD! The graphics! The sound! The non intrusive UI! Fantastic! I love it! I absolutely love the art style you chose and I love how the rather than making me read text you let the player figure out how to erase colors! It's the color behind the character! I didn't get it at first but when I realized it I felt like a genus*! The music is fantastic! The one thing I would change is spawn the color changers close to the player. Because at a certain point they become impossible to reach.

Countdown by Elnu 2018-08-13T03:07:19Z

I really like the sound design when you die and also the way the camera zooms out. I would make the zoom out shorter or add a way to skip it. When I first played I was confused at first because I assumed the blocks that turned black and disappeared became voids. I didn't realize until my second play through that they created solid blocks that you could stand on. I also really like the idea that the player standing in a spot speed up the counter. That's a great way to make the wait a lot less boring and it adds a nice element of strategy.

Judgement by -Synth- 2018-08-13T03:00:15Z

Hey I liked the idea of your game! Running out of room in heaven and hell is an interesting idea! I also actually quite liked the music. It's not exceptional but it's something very cohesive. Before I rate game play please note that after filling up both heaven and hell the game turned into a black screen. I sorted 5 people into heaven and 5 people into hell, where were the 'served in the army' supposed to go in your opinion, and ended with a score of 31.

@josh-ayres Have you tried jumping on their heads?

Not Enough Space by Madar Games 2018-08-13T03:32:33Z

@coldire83 thanks for the feedback! It was a flint lock pistol and it is meant to be inaccurate however at the last moment before building I made it even more inaccurate which I completely regret.

@wavertron I tried to make sound effects but they were also so so bad. Worse than the music probably. And yeah the first gun is really inaccurate I changed it at the last minute for the worst.

Not Enough Space by Madar Games 2018-08-13T03:34:43Z

@ilseroth Ya, after I submitted it I did some math in my head and realized I messed up the wave spawn system. The higher the numbers the longer the spawn time between them. Seems fine. But I accidentally made the time basically exponential rather than log.

@tiberiusuciu Thanks for the advice! I did tailor the ammo to be scarce, but I designed it around me and I got to practice my game for roughly 36 hours. And I happen to know all the ins and outs of it.

Personal Bubble by 4thwallstudios 2018-08-13T03:42:30Z

I really like the music in your game. It is super loud but it was worth. I also love the idea that you took the time to program an AI that competes with you, love it! My only gripe with the game is that it's really hard to tell if a bubble is bigger or not and it felt like I unfairly died even if mathematically I totally deserved it. Oh and the camera goes through walls which can be a bit hard to combat.
