I don't know how i can rate for this game. But it is awesome board game :dog:

BTW There is one bug i found too, when you roll the dice, then the number screen shows up, but you can still use "Roll" button.

aaranos 2018-08-12 23:30

@kindogrec, I thought I caught that bug early on but I guess not. Thanks for playing and letting me know. I'll get that patched!

winnie33 2018-08-13 04:34

Very fun graphics! A 3d blocky world feels awesome. A shame the player characters aren't more interesting than a cube though.

Also, I feel like a very simple AI could've helped here. Very little raters here have another 3 people next to them ready to try this out, so it might've been more fun trying to play against bots (or even, multiplayer?? :p)

Some of the wordings were a bit weird. For example, how can you "draw" a magic? Or "fight" a rest. It seems these are depended on the type of event but a small change in words could be handy.

The items themselves are creative and the concept is also really great. And almost forgot to mention it, but this is one of the few games I've seen which actually uses music, and good music at that. Very cool game overall!

frontlinesaint 2018-08-13 04:37

nice music relaxing and its a nice little game good job

madar-games 2018-08-13 04:37

You have really high quality music: I am actually blown away at how good it is! Although the main menu theme is a huge contrast to the game play theme. I will say I really like the art style. I got my brother to play a round with me. I think you did a really good job making it. I just wish there was other things you could do with the items besides sell them. It would also be nice to be able to choose how many players are playing.

shinysteel 2018-08-13 04:38

I like the relaxing atmosphere of this game (how board games should be). It would've been nicer if the characters weren't just cubes though! No bugs on my end, just a pretty clean game. I also really like this simple art style.

kultisti 2018-08-13 04:40

As winnie33 said, the 3d-world feels so cool! And the music fits in pretty well, good job!

aaranos 2018-08-13 04:41

@winnie33, thanks for giving it a shot. I barely got the game ready in 48 hours, a basic AI player was meant to be included but I had to skip over it in favor of getting the game playable for at least the 1 player. The wording is mixed up due to the Encounter deck having buffs mixed in. I added the buffs in within the last 1-2 hours of the compo so its very rushed. Without it, the players would get wrecked every time they draw an enemy encounter though.

aaranos 2018-08-13 04:51

@frontlinesaint, thank you for playing. Please look up Kevin MacLeod for the music composer, he makes many free to use tracks. This submission is opted out for Audio.

aaranos 2018-08-13 04:53

@madar-games Thank you for your comments, I'm happy to know you enjoyed it. Your suggestions are already at the top of the feature list. Coding a flexible board game just isn't for a 48 hour compo though

pancakevader 2018-08-13 04:53

Like the blocky style you have going. The music is super relaxing and I have it on even when writing this . The humor is really my style of humor. I kind of wish there was more variety with the encounters and items but I can understand the time constraint makes that really hard. Could use multiplayer support but that's very rarely possible within a game jam. Overall a really nice experience

nam-nguyen 2018-08-14 18:57

I don't have any friends, so I played the game alone. I think it's kinda hard to remember what I have and what other players have as the inventory is only displayed during one's turn. I think it would be better if you have indication of the inventory in four corners, you do have space for that. Just my opinion. Otherwise, a nice game with cool art style and fits the theme

rodrigo-molina 2018-08-14 23:53

Hey! Very nice idea, I think this game its great yet it needs a lot more content, which I understand its not possible in 48 hours, also I understand what you did to make it relatable to the theme, but as I played the game I did't feel or saw anything that resembled the theme well. Apart from that liked the 3D world too!

Nice Job!

nolanfa 2018-08-15 00:34

I like the idea, it's an issue everyone encounters when playing rpgs (some at least; in others you could fit a house in your pocket), but it lacks interactivity for me :/

You probably already saw, but there is a slight camera hitch when a cube gets to the same place as another one.

echo-team 2018-08-16 03:24

Ok, this is going to sound weird, but when my sister was like, 6 years old she played this Winnie the Pooh computer board game. I stayed up one night and played it solo all the way until the end. Kinda reminded me of that.

Anyways, the camera controls are a bit too twitchy but otherwise I like it.

t8kk 2018-08-16 05:42

Hey aaranos nice small game, It's refreshing to see a board game with rpg elements. The music was really well done, the graphics were minimalistic and functional with crossy road vibe and the core idea was great. If you develop this idea further it would be great to see characters and encounters emerge visually as you battle enemies! Well done!

babyking 2018-08-17 03:21

I feel this game has a lot of potential and I know that the time constraints of Ludum Dare are tough; @doctormozart and I definitely had to scrap some ideas due to time. It would be nice to get a little more feedback on when an encounter is happening, maybe even a little interaction in there (perhaps simply another dice roll) would be a great help. I love the idea and originally had floated a similar idea to my partner but he shot it down :( guess I'll have to make that game on my own time ;)

aaranos 2018-08-17 05:18

@babyking, I'm currently still tinkering around with it. I agree that the turns pass without any big notice that its over. The big things I am working on now is adding player options.

Keeping with RPG elements maybe I should rethink the Attack stat and maybe break it down into number of dice and size of the dice. Then you can properly roll to see if you win an encounter aside from having the larger number.

It's definitely a lot to do in the short window, your partner probably had the right idea haha.

endurion 2018-08-17 05:19

Neat idea actually :)

What I'm missing is a overview of all players and their stats. It's hard to remember other's stats if you want to compete. Also, the extra click for the roll irks me.

It feels like there's a game in there wanting to come out. Something you really should try to build upon.

noxbuds 2018-08-17 09:08

Interesting idea. Though it was a little weird playing against myself :P It would be nice if there was a short pause after the dialog box saying what happened, just so you can take a second to check your stats. Good graphics though, and a very unique idea with the board game.

lastleaf 2018-08-17 17:16

Great! Bring back my childhood memories. I think it would be more fun if made as a complex board game and play with friends on tables.

The concept is really creative and interesting, and I love the art style. I would like more combat and trading details (48h is too limited for this kind of game). Great job!

del-nordlund 2018-08-25 03:13

Cool idea! I ended up having to play against myself haha, but other than that it's got a lot of potential!
