LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Mini Dungeon Tactics by Joror 2022-10-05T22:09:44Z

A fun idea well executed. Nice!

I really like the graphics, but the ui for moving actions around is a bit slow. I really wish I had drag-n-drop!

It would also be cool if the engine was deterministic. I tried playing the same plan twice where I died in only one of them.

Anyway this was really fun to play - thanks for making it!

Step Up by Cambryx 2022-10-05T23:07:24Z

I really like the bars around the character, that show the time.

The first handful of levels were very nice tutorial levels. I like that you managed to teach mechanics without having to read a bunch of text. +1 Good job.

It gets really hard further in though. I enjoyed making it as far as I did. Right now I'm stuck at level 11.

Overall, it's a nice, polished puzzle platformer with a unique concept that fits the LD51 theme really well. It's great. Thank you for making this.

Sprawl: A cyberpunk interactive graphic novel by m11 2022-10-04T20:18:16Z

Great idea, great execution!

I love that it's an interactive PDF. It has a lot of novely, and it's intuitive and works well.

The diffusion images are hella cool too.

I agree with your own take on it. More interactivity would be awesome. But that's of course a lot more content to make.

Having high res images that take up the full screen would be dope too. That's just a question of getting a gigantic GPU...

Blind Jump by TsFreddie 2022-10-06T12:52:55Z

Love the concept. I guess lit really is quite similar to our idea, like you mentioned in chat.

It's interesting to see how similar ideas can evolve differently.

I really like the graphics and audio.

CVC Presents: A Button by The Enigma 2022-10-05T21:33:45Z

What an absurd and futile game.

You do a really boring job for a while - and then you get fired.

I played this game all the way through three times. Just because I hoped that if I actually managed to press the button each time, I would get another ending than getting fired.

I didn't.

Instead, I found myself cheering when 998 people died of something uncomfortable, because it made my counter go down faster.

What an absurd and futile game.

Escape Earth by Batsphemy 2022-10-04T18:19:53Z

Played four times, finally won on the last round. 704 survivors!

Really original gameplay, although I didn't understand how it works at first. It's not that intuitive. I guess I should just read the manual more thoroughly.

I wish the number of surviving persons would be more visible. If this is the main success criteria, it should be communicated much more clearly to the user when they're doing the right thing.

Fatal Desolation by Lukas TAMAYO 2022-10-06T20:03:02Z

I love 0G games, and this one was a lot of fun. The malfunctioning booster makes it really difficult to control, which makes it go chaotic fast.

The control scheme is a bit unusual, but I liked it once I got used to it.

You Have a Call by dp3rucha 2022-10-04T19:41:16Z

Awesome game! Great theme, and fun mechanics. I also found it really funny, in an overwhelming and confusing way.

One thing though: I can't read that fast!! The 10 second limitation is tough here. That adds to the chaos though, so maybe it's fine.

Digital Bacon's Every 10 Seconds by digital bacon 2022-10-11T13:44:43Z

Difficult to understand; I had very little idea of what effects my attacks were having, and how much I was damaging my enemies.

Seems like there was some some solid ideas in this game though. With some more attention to communicative UI, and perhaps a smaller scope- this could become good.

Oasis Escape by Zerbu 2022-10-06T14:38:34Z

Nice and simple. The jump feels a bit underpowered.

The flat graphics give a unique feel, and is probably a smart compromise when you have limited time.

The pond & the stars by Chocolat-Endive 2022-10-03T22:40:17Z

This game looks and feels beautiful! It took me a moment to figure out the controls, but they were ncie when I got them. Although I wish I could use keyboard instead of the mouse.

I don't think I've ever seen a game with watercolor aesthetics before. It's really well executed. I like your idea of having the main character be a vague over-the-shoulder silhouette. The music is amazing!

The writing is lovely, but I didn't get that much story out of it. I didn't really figure out a concrete plot, if there is one - maybe it's meant to be more of a poetic thing? I also skipped reading a bunch of the fish.

Either way, well done!

Cubical Mayhem by pepnou 2022-10-12T14:36:35Z

What a wonderful game!

The graphics and animation are top-notch. Props!

I really like the concept - probably because I'm partial to rubiks cubes already.

It could maybe have been explored a bit more. I really hoped that I would have been able to rotate the squares myself, and that their relative positions would have more importance than just what's visible to me.

On the first playthough, my run was ended by this bug: I dropped an engine factory on top of the item bar, and it just got stuck. I couldn't move it or pick up another engine factory (and I needed one to keep playing).

bug.png

So I reset the game. about to go play another round.

Cubical Mayhem by pepnou 2022-10-12T15:19:54Z

yay.png

I did it! Yay!

I think the most interesting place for this game to go would be to integrate more rubiks cube stuff. Allowing the user to make their own moves is a great state. Cube rotations would be nice.

Maybe factory could need to be directly adjacent to the resources they consume. Maybe there's a bonus to solving the cube, or to solving a single face? /shrug just ideas...

@maxds98 This goes away if you full-screen the application. Same thing happens on my device.

10 is The End by TrueVacuum 2022-10-05T23:19:03Z

I like this a lot. It looks great and communicates really well. I really enjoyed figuring out what to do without reading any text.

I got stuck at level 5 though. It just displays a zero and reacts to nothing. Not sure if it's a bug or if I just can't figure it out...

Gravity by Asue 2022-10-04T10:43:47Z

Beautiful game! I love the graphics for the planets.

It seems like sometimes if I miss (or fly through a planet), I can just keep on flying forever, while just collecting infinite points?

I can somewhat easily get many hundreds of points, once I kan start flying infintely. It probably adds up to thousands if I just leave it running for long enough.

The concept is really string though - if you could balance it out so it's more "fair", I think it'd be a really satisfying game to play.

Rockatoo by AdamCYounis 2022-10-05T21:11:21Z

Nice game! The graphics are beautiful, and I love the setting/mood.

The actual gameplay isn't *that* innovative - the blank spaces are kind of like the wide bars in guitar hero. But it's still a lot of fun to play, because it's well executed and nice to look at.

Thanks for making this!

Reboot by Astrydax 2022-10-05T22:44:11Z

Fun to play, and a great unique setting. Thanks for making this!

I still can't get past the level with the single box with a purple counter above it... Wonder how to do that.

Sir CaffeineALot by Neisha 2022-10-04T19:55:59Z

Fun game! I love the concept. Like a *very* tight timeloop game.

I can't get past the second cup of coffee, though :(

Trashpunk by Pomo 2022-10-06T15:40:33Z

This game looks great! But maybe it would be a bit more playable if it were a little slower? Just a thought - might not be right.

It wasn't obvious what the rules / scoring system is, just from looking at someone playing the game.

10 second switch (aka help my pain) by damedevy 2022-10-12T15:43:57Z

Neat little game!

The art-style is consistent at neat.

Gameplay doesn't win huge points for innovation, but it was fun to play.

I like the jump sound :3

Potat-OS by JMad 2022-10-05T22:24:24Z

Stressfull game with a fun aesthetic.

I still don't know how to beat ChampagneShower.exe - so I presume that's what kills me errytime.

Thanks for making it!

What is that sound? (Repeating every 10th second) by airwaffle 2022-10-05T22:35:51Z

I can't figure out how to get past the very first input :( I tried 'help', 'stand up', 'get out of sleeping bag', 'wake up', and all sorts of other random combinations.

It looks cool, though. Wish I could play it!

What is that sound? (Repeating every 10th second) by airwaffle 2022-10-06T18:26:18Z

With the risk of spoiling your game, what was the intended answer to the first prompt?

Drunk Wizard by Nbrowning5 2022-10-04T19:45:04Z

This game was hillarious. I love the whack powerups. There's not that much gameplay, but I lol'ed.

Thanks for making it!

ItGrows by Jim jagers 2022-10-06T13:32:43Z

The colorscheme is great, and the music is fun - but it's a bit difficult to play. Not sure if it's just on my machine, but some of the pixel render a bit fuzzy.

Chaos Pigeon by jabsatz 2022-10-03T22:23:10Z

This was fun! I like it.

I still have no idea how to "destroy the pacifists", though - and the timer for a round feels a little long.

Making Connections by PostFrog 2022-10-06T18:58:03Z

The characters are funny and unique, and fun to talk to!

The colorscheme is a bit harsh, and the map is blocky and sparse.

Still, it seems like this game has a lot of content. Well done.

Decrypt by Gabriel Chan 2022-10-04T18:50:02Z

Looks and feels great, and is fun to play. Great.

I really like the theme, cyberspace hechyeah. The concept of a stacking word game is fun.

I wish that there would be a line indicator, where I'm about to drop the letter. I think that could make it a lot easier to move the letters around. But I understand.. we all made this in limited time

Birdwatching by Iguanana 2022-10-04T18:26:54Z

This is a fantastic idea! I love typing games, too. So this is perfect.

The addition of having bird facts between levels is great. Although I wish one had to type those, too.

I wish that it didn't force you to start over on typos. None of the other typing games I know work in this way.

Birds that come from the left are so much harder than from the right, since you have to wait for them to enter the frame completely to see the first letter.

Animating the bird wings would make this game feel amazing, I think. But that's obviously out of scope for LD.

Great idea. Thanks for making it!

T&T - Trips & Ticks by Pentaworks 2022-10-04T10:10:20Z

Nice game! It works flawlessly and fits the theme well. But it could maybe be more challenging?

At first I didn't understand when it was supposed to end, because I could just keep playing for a very long time without hitting a trap.

The game wasn't really intuitive to play. I had to read the guide again to figure out how to play.

Once I figured it out, it pretty much became a game about counting, and then remembering short sequences of integers for short amounts of time. Not too difficult, unless you get distracted.

Maybe I just need to go for longer play sessions...

Machine Yearning by Daniel Username 2022-10-04T20:06:53Z

This might be the best Ludum Dare game I've played thus far. Really original concept, and it's fun too! It's pretty, and it's well executed. Well done.

I love the name.

Are there more concepts than just colors of shapes, if I would get further? I hope so.

Brb, gonna go play another round.

Machine Yearning by Daniel Username 2022-10-04T20:14:35Z

Just turned on sound, and the music slaps too!

Farming Game by Anatintti 2022-10-03T22:09:38Z

It seems like it's missing a link? How to play this? :)

Sokobyo by Roroto Sic 2022-10-04T17:50:40Z

Cool game. I completed all three levels by trying like 2-3 times per level, so the difficulty curve is perfect.

I wish there was some more reward when I complete a level. I would also have liked keyboard input, instead of having to aim and click my mouse.

Bus Upon a Time by Sylf 2022-10-03T22:54:30Z

Works great for me. Failed miserably the first time, but figured it out on the second try.

...sort of, anyway.

I still haven't done better than just running away with the money immediately. I don't really understand how the bus routing works. I feel like sometimes passengers who have a valid route just don't go there. I also still don't know how to avoid bus collisions. So eventually I just succumb to that and die.

Lab Slime by Cheville 2022-10-06T20:44:16Z

This game is excellent. Fun tight gameplay loop, that gets sort of addictive. I like the addition of endless mode. That's a good challenge, and fun to play. The art is consistent, and pleasant to look at.

The camera moving sharply on each move is a bit annoying and disorienting. I think it would benefit your game a lot to improve the camera.

Thanks for sharing! I enjoyed this.

What's Under The Teapot? by thegamearchitect 2022-10-04T18:39:57Z

Neat game. Not so original, but it fits the theme, and is executed well.

I haven't tried, but it looks like the game supports mobile. If that's the case, that's super cool!

It's a little bit too slow for me. I could play for 300 seconds first time without failing. I like to think that I could do better if I play a bunch of rounds, but I'm not going to try :/

Maybe it would be nice to put the teapot back immediatley when the player clicks an item? That could make the game faster (without ditching the 10-second criteria).

Run, Slime, Run ! by Dahut 2022-10-04T20:32:58Z

First try completion: 21 corpses in 3m57s

The corpse jump idea is fun, and the art is great. I like it :D

Timeslime by asbjorn 2022-10-05T14:40:34Z

@austin-sierra I have quietly thought about how this could work on mobile.

But I'm not sure how the controls would work, though. Swiping could work for movement, but how about shooting?

On screen buttons kind of suck, right? :/ But maybe that's a necessary compromise...

Timeslime by asbjorn 2022-10-05T20:13:17Z

@mikoziq I think maybe the record of 204 you got was on an in-development version of the game, before we applied a -1 point penalty for missing a shot. There was generally a handful of really cheesy strategies that involved shooting a lot.

If you could just shoot a shotload, you'll eventually become invincible and rack up infinite points. But once we introduced the miss penalty, that strategy is broken.

I agree that a lot of deaths above ~70 points feel pretty unavoidable. Maybe this could be adressed by enemies shooting more rarely and/or much slower. The 72 hours are over now though, so I'll just leave it like this until the rating period is over - then maybe make some adjustments after.

Thanks for playing our game, and thanks for the awesome feedback!

Timeslime by asbjorn 2022-10-06T13:24:00Z

@tsfreddie That's actually a great idea!

For a post-jam version I kind of want to fix up the death screen. Having a ghost of your character repeating the moves of th last non-fatal loop could be really cool.

Congratulations on 88 points! That's actually a really good score.

Timeslime by asbjorn 2022-10-06T13:30:32Z

@labtoast This shouldn't be happening. It really should play every move every time. Can you reproduce this reliably? I haven't experienced this bug.

Meteoriseten by Igor Morgun 2022-10-06T14:35:55Z

It works, and looks like it has fully original art! Nice!

I think it's smart that you scoped so small for a first entry. Keep it simple, stupid.

Thoughts by Question 2022-10-06T14:19:29Z

The characters look great, and the warping animation style works surprisingly well.

The setting works super well, but the gameplay is so-so.

I don't understand why there needs to be a time limit, and I kind of wish there were more difficult ethical dilemmas. Right now it feels like a pretty straight-forward good-against-evil thing. It ends up feeling a bit black-and-white, or a bit strawman argument-y.

Still, I had fun beating up transphobic monsters with *rhetorics*.
