LD51 — Every 10 seconds

MAGIC-281: Intro to Alchemy by ninjacreeper47 2022-10-14T16:50:06Z

I'm going to complain to the academic affairs office about this course. I'm here to learn the pure alchemy, but one third of the exam is about history and I almost flunked because of it! (′Д`)

To be honest, it's an amazing try. Connections between a game and a course may be numerous. According to a friend of mine, gameplay and education can be viewed as the same thing. They are both to understand a system more and more efficiently, developing interest through step-by-step feedback. Will they go across in the future? We'll see. This game is an inspiring example of it.

Base Defense by pvg 2022-10-12T06:19:29Z

Cute game. The audio effect is very passionate. It's a good idea to let players keep alternating two operations in a short time, and the operations of planting turret and collecting shards are well simplified. The turret attack doesn't seem to be so aggressive, and the beam absorbs the shards too slowly so it never lasted more than 40 seconds. The balance here can be improved but I believe it won't be a problem in further development.

Space 10 by R3L0ad1 2022-10-10T17:24:55Z

Nice game with cool style, and the design of guidance system is good looking. The enemies are pretty tough, and frictionless in the universe with recoil make the fight even harder, but I kind of enjoy this feeling being out of control.

SOME LEVELS! HERO by Rs11s21n 2022-10-19T16:57:44Z

Great game! I've played half an hour and become invincible, and it's fun to make the bullets rain. I like the graphics style. QQ图片20221020005313.png

Relaxing Roots by SharpLoaded 2022-10-11T20:08:09Z

How the root grows is very well displayed visually, and I do feel relaxed with the music and graphics. The beginning of the game may be a little slow as you only need to control one branch. Soon we have to manage 4-6 branches in a hurry. When I see a large and complex system forming and multiplying, I guess that may be what the developer wants! img.png

Dodgex by chingle 2022-10-11T19:49:55Z

The game is fun, and I enjoy moving and jumping in the style of pixels. The feeling of jumping can be designed better. And the fire of laser guns may change their ways of shooting so that the gameplay would be more fun.

Sequence Run by sbackman 2022-10-12T06:42:38Z

Pretty cool game. It's not easy to make good visual effects in a short time, the game seems to use simple way of drawing, but it turns out to present well, and I love it. I feel like most of the difficulty comes from the feedback of controls. In particular, the player may not get enough visual feedback during the gravity conversion. The levels themselves is not that difficult. The rotation channel in third level is a fairly good idea. If subsequent development improves the sense of control and retains the characteristics of gravity conversion, it will be definitely a great game. Good work!

PolyGone by LabToast 2022-10-04T17:26:03Z

It's a good try of gameplay, with very logical levels. A lot of ways of playing can be developed based on this. The actions of character (as a box) are also interesting

Superline Hotami by jcg 2022-10-10T17:09:54Z

Totally a nice try. I love the sound get low and high when my motion changes. The components used are simple but the visual effects appear to be very good. The overall tone may be a little dark, but it's no doubt a great job!

Natural Snek-lection! by Falk Hoeppner 2022-10-14T13:25:53Z

This game will leave a very deep impression on me. The graphics and audio have their own styles, and the gameplay is also very fun. What's more interesting, I feel like the theme of "every 10 seconds" limits the play of the gameplay instead. Due to the low frequency of dominant genes in the population as a whole, 10-seconds would hardly be enough to choose a good, suitable mate before we die. (But maybe that's just life!) 30 seconds may increase the operability of the game. Overall, I like this game very much!QQ图片20221014211328.png

Break-New-Fast by Lsy 2022-10-10T17:47:22Z

It's the first time we've really made a game. We used an engine we've never touched before (Cocos Creator),and try to practice some technique while learning them like Dragonbones. We wanted the player to experience the world getting more absurd and incomprehensible every 10 seconds, starting with a normal breakfast. At first There was a game objective to meet a dietary balance by having various kinds of food, which would be harder to achieve when the food gets weirder and weirder as the news and events goes on. Due to time limit, the food score system wasn't in the game. The axe hanging from the cover is shown rotting and falling to the ground in the ending. This actually comes from an ancient Chinese story that symbolizes the rapid changing of the world. Although the game is not finished well, I enjoyed the feeling of studying actively to complete the game. It's nice to experience making a game for the first time in Ludum Dare!

10seconds by xhz636 2022-10-11T19:19:01Z

The loop from level 10 to 1 is fun, but I didn't seem to satisfy with it and tried to find a solution for both slimes getting to the flags. It seems that level 10 doesn't have such a solution, or does it?

Meteoriseten by Igor Morgun 2022-10-11T19:23:12Z

The music and graphic are so cool!

LD52 — Harvest

Call of the Harvest by Iak 2023-01-25T08:40:04Z

The mood of the game is very attractive, although I don't really understand the story of the beginning and ending scenes, it's still very interesting. The map interface reminds me of Don't Starve, which is a very clever way of using 2D components to represent 3D environment. I also quite like the fighting part, and it would be better if I can fire by holding E (like the 東方Project Games). Well done!

Public service announcement by kuro 2023-01-25T08:21:06Z

I read all the text, The slow flow of words and the wind-blown wheat fields and hair give it all a rhythm or something. Fortunately my gaming experience isn't cancelled ^-^

A Harvest Story by gord10ahmet 2023-01-25T14:54:48Z

The story has a nice feel and seems to convey a bit of philosophy. I've found that if I choose not to sit down but to leave, the path goes in a loop, this little detail also became part of the philosophy. Well done!

Pollen Angel by Madbeagle 2023-01-25T15:36:37Z

A very cute game! The style of play on an old console is very different. Due to inertia, the bee will bump into thorns or monsters if not careful.

Mustered by arron-fowler 2023-01-25T16:24:51Z

I do enjoy this game. I believe that most people can learn the game without being introduced. Harvest seems to be instinctive when connected to a specific situation, and the development in it can bring real joy. I've experienced this in other sandbox games where you can hoard resources. So I think that it's another Zen aspect in this game (or several sandbox games of this kind).

Well, it's not just joy. When my land became larger, I started to be unwilling to close the web page. I know the world in the game can go on forever, but life can't. Life doesn't rise forever, it must rise and fall and need a good end. When I play sandbox games like Minecraft, I always felt this contradiction and thought a lot about this, but this is the first time I write it down. Overall, thank you for letting me play this for this long.

Data Miner by Geek5510 2023-01-25T08:56:02Z

The game's visual effects are great, but it's also a little difficult. I'm not used to this kind of move control so I didn't really clear this game, but I see it's done very well!

H. (A Harvest Puzzler) by ditam 2023-01-14T16:05:09Z

This game reminds me of several very abstract puzzle games (like Baba is You and Understand). The concept of "finding rules while playing" always give me very interesting experience. When I start to play, I associated the five colors with an ancient Chinese metaphysics: the Five Elements. This metaphysics also formed in the agricultural labors of people. But I soon recognized that the five colors aren't symmetric. To find the real rule, I have to work by trial and error. The time of one try will be longer since the size of level is bigger. Sometimes I solve a level with a false rule I imagine, and I will pay more to fix it in the next level. So a restart button may help a lot in this situation.

The randomness of pest may not be appropriate for a puzzle game with static rules. And the color indicator doesn't indicate itself but the following color, is it a bug?

Overall, it's a great try, and I do enjoy it!

Moon Festival by Teto 2023-01-25T13:20:53Z

I really like the mood of this game. The pace of the game is a little slow, and players may not be able to get through the levels if they don't make a good card group. But on the other hand, the slow pace seems to represent the relaxed atmosphere of family reunion on Mid-Autumn Festival.

It's also a bold attempt to combine shooting and deck. The sense of shooting operation is mainly reflected in the fireworks. To extend the sense of control, make lanterns or other cards operable after firing.

KICK by taxol 2023-01-13T07:50:27Z

It's a good epitome of the feudal society and full of humor. There are still a few bugs like if you submit the grain before the KICK calculation is done, the current grain will still be submitted and cause the failure. Overall, I enjoy the game and the idea of it!

Pflaenze by shiny Elster 2023-01-26T13:30:24Z

When I saw the seed saying "I don't understand" for the first time, a sentence jumped out of my mind and made me laugh, for the beginning of this game reminds me of two famous puzzle games.

I enjoyed almost everything in this game. The visuals, mood, and humor in every dialog. The only problem is that the root grows too slowly, it may turn off some players. When I finished all the exploration in mud and saw the ending, I realized that the sentence I just thought of may well fit this game:

QQ图片20230126211504.png

"You don't Understand, but you Witness."

Melon Guardian by tsuyurikuraudo 2023-01-14T16:14:46Z

@zluca Thank you for your earnest comment. Due to time limit we didn't make a smart AI. we are going to explore more talented AI for the two kinds of pieces. We also wanted to set a mode that both sides have harvesters and beasts.

Melon Guardian by tsuyurikuraudo 2023-01-24T15:18:19Z

@bradu We appreciate you for so much constructive comment. I was obsessed with Flash when I was a kid, and it's quick to implement small ideas with Flash. We were in a bit of a rush, so we didn't fix some UI issues that we have noticed. Clearer representation of the end of a turn and pure mouse/keyboard controls should make the experience smoother.

The graphics of this game used the image in a famous Chinese story: a boy raised a steel fork to drive away the badgers from the melon field. I tried to make the image more interesting, but it turns out to be a little noisy.

And thank the anonymous of caring about the comment progress! Your advice about table-top is enlightening. I actually quite like to design table-top games. We just discussed whether the table-top version should be delicate or simple (like those Print & Play games).

Normal harvesting game by Rezioz 2023-01-15T13:26:56Z

It's a very cool game. I enjoy the mystic feeling when playing. It also leaves some suspense to us like how these monsters can be harvested and why are they need to be harvested. The humor rating isn't open, but I think there's still humor in this game. The background audio in combat is a bit noisy and I have to turn down the volume.

Traumascape by Qooorti 2023-01-25T08:14:27Z

You've got a good concept to start with and I'm interested to see where the story goes. It's a great start! There seems to be a problem with the full screen display, where the text goes off the screen.

LD58 — Collector

Tiny Museum by Keith Wang 2025-10-09T14:15:03Z

Very cute art! In gameplay, the difference among all the collections is price and earnings. It would be good to add more dimensions of how the collection affects the performance of museum, so that the players might be more motivated to collect them all. (Maybe extra reward of collecting a whole series of collections or increasing character's ability? I feel the speed a bit slow after opening floor 2)

Tax Hans! by rascar_capac 2025-10-09T13:44:50Z

At the beginning I didn't understand how to break items and tried to drag them by mouse to smash the ground. It's quite humorous that the smallest chest contains a valuable ring while the biggest one contains a worthless love letter (perhaps most valuable for Hans). In this aspect I agree with @ellaris that Hans may have different emotion of losing ring or losing love letter.

Shaman by tsuyurikuraudo 2025-10-09T12:56:08Z

@ira-baciu Sorry and thanks so much of pointing out! We made a mistake of disabling rating when publishing. Now rating should be available.

Shaman by tsuyurikuraudo 2025-10-09T13:14:09Z

@archimagus @starduster Thank you for the feedback! We are uploading a fixed version enabling WASD to move. The withdrawal of a single monster is a little difficult for the current code structure and we will be working on it.

Call Hector, Organ Collector by TheLastSlowpoke 2025-10-12T13:37:34Z

Award Name: "Game respecting blood type O the most on LD58"

Really great game visually and atmospherically (also in sense of humor)! Impeccable graphic art. The difficulty is indeed a bit high (I only cleared the level for AB blood type).

Gun Nut by ThisIsSpy 2025-10-09T15:31:38Z

I found the quickest way of getting money is scapyard, although it won't provide high level weapon. It might be better if there's any extra reward when collecting a full series of weapons.

The style of guns reminds me of Madness Combat and gives me a sense of memorable.
