It may be a problem with viewport sizing… light is not centered. Then letters are very difficult to read. Only left side of the screen is visible.

But, out of this, it is nice.

xahon 2024-04-15 16:57

I didn't manage to play this game as it was intended. You should set allow fullscreen option on itch because I only see the corner of the game scene. Graphics on runes though looks high-quality

congeesetador 2024-04-15 16:59

As of right now the game is really confusing on what to do, I spent 10 minutes just messing around but couldn't figure anything out, and only the bottom corner of the screen can be seen, please let me know when it's fixed so I can rate your game! I really love the soundtrack though!

paroxysmal 2024-04-15 16:59

Not sure what exactly what I'm suppose to be doing. Along with some graphics issues.

pauljs 2024-04-15 23:07

Could you maybe add a description of how to play? Will love to come back on it once I understand what I am supposed to do!

edj99 2024-04-16 00:14

@misoukun @xahon @congeestador @paroxysmal @pauljs

Seems like there was a graphical issue when I uploaded the game late last night. It should be fixed now!

edj99 2024-04-16 00:17

@congeestador @paroxysmal @pauljs

I've added some instructions on this page for how the game works

pauljs 2024-04-16 00:20

Thank! The game is a bit to big en Itch, I could not see both the letter and the space where to click them! Also a version where we can type with the keyboard would be great (even if maybe it would make the game a bit to easy)

477! The typing concept work well and the musics goes well along, congrats!

edj99 2024-04-16 00:28

@pauljs for now if the game canvas is too big on your screen you can fix it by zooming out in your browser

falk-hoeppner 2024-04-17 02:59

2063! The soundtrack is a banger, and you manage the transition back and forth between regular play and the danger zone really well. There's never any question of you status in the game. I would be nice to be able to see your score go up as you play, or to see the list of words you made along the way, but this is a great little package. Would play this as a mobile game for sure.

dams333 2024-04-19 20:04

Really beautiful word game, I like it

aj-atkinson 2024-04-22 19:02

I am baffled that people are having trouble figuring out how to play this. It seems pretty straight forward. Unless maybe some people are having trouble recognizing some rune-like letters?

You just spell a word, and then click the check. I love the simplicity of the game and the design.

This honestly is feels like one of the most polished games I've played in the jam so far. It's really well done, I haven't encountered any bugs, and I absolutely love the effect that you add to the audio as letters build up, as stressful as it is haha!

Great job! I genuinely loved playing this!

*Edit: it seems like most issues people are having is with the viewport. Not sure if it's been fixed, but it was fine for me. As someone else suggested, try playing with your browsers zoom if you have this problem.*

samboyer276 2024-04-22 19:51

Very fun to play! The music speedup when you start to run out space was perfectly tense. I got to 2,610 :) The input scheme would work perfectly for a mobile game, but one suggestion for targeting PC users would be to allow keyboard inputs, such that if that letter is available on screen it's selected, and otherwise you have some timeout penalty (to discourage spamming)? the game still works fine with clicking though - i might just be lazy haha.

Great stuff overall!

krummsakura 2024-04-24 12:13

It’s a lovely little game with a potential to be loved by many players, especially on mobile platforms. The game play is engaging as a mind exercise. I know it is connected to the internal theme of the game but the runic font is a little hard to read and needs a while to adjust. Nice job!

cgraen 2024-04-25 08:16

Its a fun idea and game, although I struggled with the font a little bit. Its hard to keep track of the runes because of it if there are many. Otherwise its great but I am bad :D

hatmajaster 2024-04-25 08:44

For such a simple idea its very very cool:P Though I am terrible at such games I got 2526. I guess the letters come at random, maybe its a good idea to have them a bit better hmm "statistically organized"? Though this probably would've made the game go endlessly... So I guess maybe its perfectly balanced. The only issue i have is with the clicking:/ I miss-click often when a new letter is spawning. Also I think the game really needs a "revert" button - for example right mouse click. Often you just want to remove the last letter, not all of them.

edj99 2024-04-25 08:57

@hatmajaster thanks for the feedback!

The letters are actually statistically organised based on frequency of letters in our dataset of words, so the most common letter will be 'E', etc.

If you wanna reset a letter you can actually click the staged letter at the bottom of the game screen!

hatmajaster 2024-04-25 10:17

Wow, so its me that's stupid xD Maybe you write it on the "How to play" :) I thought that something was strange because I almost did not see the letter "Y". Well good job then, and explains why its very good to play

alessandro2024 2024-04-25 10:30

Actually a surprisingly fun game! thanks!

edj99 2024-04-25 11:19

@hatmajaster great suggestion, I will do that now, thanks :)

geckoo1337 2024-04-25 14:12

Very good use of the theme for a very good game. I really like the main gameplay and how you manage the music. Your entry is addictive. Simple and clever. Bravo ++

lllarso 2024-04-25 15:09

A really cool feature of this game is the increasing speed when you get more letters. Nicely done! The design of the letters or runes is good. But I feel that the two buttons in the corners (the undo button and the submit the word button) could be designed in the same style. Now they are in a low pixel-style, which does not fit the runes. The gameloop is very simple, but it works well. I had fun playing this game.

frank-gevaerts 2024-04-25 16:33

This is fun! I played a few games and spent an enjoyable 20 minutes or so. It's not the most complex game, but as it happens that was exactly what I was looking for :)

The music and sound really do enhance the experience, and they don't get annoying!

I like the look of the runes, but I'll admit that while I did get better at reading them, I still had to *really* focus to recognise the letters. I'm not sure that's ideal.

I think I'd have liked using the keyboard for submit and cancel, but I can also imagine forcing mouse for that to be intentional, not sure.

Overall a very solid game!

dekisenpaitm 2024-04-25 16:48

Indeed a very fun little game, can get very frustrating if you only get 'O' over and over again p.p

aviv-levy 2024-04-25 21:08

I like this game a lot, loved the challenge and the speed/music increase, and the art is very nice. It feels like it was designed for a phone though - the buttons are too far apart and no hotkeys (unless I missed those?). It was also a bit difficult to "catch" the runes, so I would've appreciated if they were a tad bigger. A fullscreen option would've been great too! Very cool entry nonetheless.

ajpl 2024-04-27 20:49

This turned out pretty cool, and hard! Loved the idea of music changing, that gave nice feel for when its close to fail. Bummer that I suck so much in word games, especially in english

aeveis 2024-04-28 05:48

Like the word game, but the runes end up being hard to hard as letters when there's a lot of them and they are spinning around. The music made me pretty nervous until i eventually ran out of time. I kind of wanted see the words I made perhaps in the end or so? nice job!

cananaman 2024-05-04 15:01

I got 3076! Pretty fun game :)
