LD55 — Summoning

Bergmål by Ava Skoog 2024-05-02T19:22:07Z

It would be really unfortunate if I did not encounter this one. Visual style is one of the most stylish games in LD55 I've played. I like the gameplay which is reminiscent of Ace Attorney and Danganronpa. As for the ambition part, I am a victim too, so I feel you. Jokes aside, it's quite complete for a jam game. Excellent job!

Summoner Story by Nicso 2024-04-19T12:57:16Z

Art style looks really refined. I liked the idea of an alchemical puzzle with cards. Last but not least, the lighting effect is adding so much to the enigmatic atmosphere of the game.

You Have Been Summoned by Frederika 2024-04-27T15:58:34Z

It’s one of the most refreshing interpretations of the summoning theme in LD55. The Courtroom sketch style is brilliant to convey the story which I really enjoyed as a long-time visual novel reader. As for the audio, the game was silent but it can be an issue with the WebGL port. Great job!

Protect Forest by wdebowicz 2024-04-24T21:07:55Z

I’ve never watched the show, but as an ecologist who spent years studying the impacts of global environmental change on biodiversity, I can say that the game is extremely satisfying and cathartic. Visual style is nice and the music fits the mood. Excellent job!

Advanced Algebra IV by mvasko2 2024-04-21T18:19:09Z

A Cute and funny narrative. I liked the art style, especially the texturing. Character designs are awesome. Scattered notes about hell culture and history are hilarious. A crosshair in the middle of the screen could be highly beneficial to detect intractable objects. I really enjoyed it! I think our approaches are somewhat similar. My game is also a 3d first person narrative too.

A Tale of Six Rites by graebor 2024-04-21T00:03:17Z

It is definitely one of the most polished and complete games I've encountered in LD55. Visual style and sound design is astonishing. I wish it was not six but sixty rites.

The Summoner, serving justice by tinykidtoo 2024-04-20T23:34:23Z

It is quite awesome and ambitious! While hitting, shooting or even touching could be perfectly acceptable to eliminate the enemy, inclusion of shot to slow down and button mash to eliminate mechanics are admirable! Great job!

Readybuns by rosypenguin 2024-04-18T12:57:59Z

The minimalist visual style of the game is really charming. I wish there were more levels.

Virtua Bob by MSolomon 2024-04-27T11:55:59Z

It is a really fun and polished game which brings back the memories of virtuacop from deep past. The humor is relatable, choice of weapon is great and the voice acting is cool. Excellent job!

Shadow Summoner by Tommy 2024-04-28T21:38:34Z

I like the rune placement and leveling the summons to the tiers which is quite a novel game mechanic. The minimalist art style and animations are really lovely and well crafted. Difficulty is somewhat brutal after a point, which is not a big deal and can be adjusted. Nice job!

Pact Factory by tukisboolukis 2024-04-21T13:11:17Z

The polished art style and an intricate summoning system is admirable. The tutorial level, which is not very common among the jam games, is highly beneficial to explain the mechanics of the game. Luckily, I didn’t encounter the bug you mentioned. Definitely deserves to be developed beyond the jam. Excellent job!

The Weaver from the remote hamlet by Tyrannas 2024-04-26T12:20:59Z

It's not like a jam game, The art style is gorgeous. The narrative aspect of the game is admirable, one of the best I've played in LD55,. Every choice and interaction feels meaningful. Music and effects fit the mood nicely. Excellent job!

Unpacking Armageddon by notnasiul 2024-04-21T19:50:34Z

Gameplay is quite enjoyable. I liked the guitar tune and the incantation of the summoner. Art style also matches the humorous vibe of the game. Good job!

Demon Phone by BoxedMeatRevolution 2024-04-24T10:57:38Z

First of all, the art style is gorgeous, and looks like it's from an art exhibition. The mechanics of stations used in the summoning process are quite interesting. Dialogues between the demons and the summoner are well crafted. The only thing to nitpick, micromacroscope could be a little more informative to detect the features of the demons. Excellent job!

Summoner's Arena by Kurakurture 2024-04-23T23:06:00Z

Art style is lovely. Low poly models, toon shader and slight chromatic aberration looks fantastic. I especially liked the idea of disposable weapons which makes the game a very interesting sort of puzzle. It’s not a major thing but a dashing ability could be nice since the enemies are quite punishing by causing both weapon loss and stun. Great job!

Chicken Slayground by Zettelkasten 2024-04-22T21:51:49Z

Hand drawn sprites are adorable and the leveling up mechanic is satisfying. Based on the rest of the game, I am sure that you can create a far more appealing UI. Not a major issue but a more prominent visual cue for the rune paths can also be beneficial. Great job!

Clone Stacking by CrociDB 2024-04-26T18:33:27Z

It looks quite polished with the right amount of game juice. Levels and puzzles are well crafted. Art style and music matches the retro vibe of the game. I especially liked the menu which is too good for a jam game. Excellent job!

Runic Summoner by freamdev 2024-04-24T18:51:26Z

The game loop is quite enjoyable. Intricate back story and a presence of a lore is really nice. I like the voxel art style. It is not a huge deal but the character animations could make the game look much better. I did not encounter any bugs. Good job!

If Only by Le Slo 2024-04-18T17:57:21Z

I am not particularly good at puzzle games but art, music and mood of the game kept me playing till the end. Brilliant.

The Culling by unless games 2024-04-25T00:16:59Z

All I can say is that it is really impressive. Loading screen, voice effects, creepy-cute characters, game loop. One of the most polished and stylish games I've encountered in LD55. Also as a colorblind, I appreciated the settings. Excellent job!

Monster World Domination by RilleP 2024-04-21T11:42:02Z

Under simple structure, it is a quite engaging game and even challenging at some points. With a little polish and juice it can be much more. Nice job!

Fiend-Zone by gord10ahmet 2024-04-24T12:00:49Z

I liked the idea of unfriendly autonomous summons with distinctive mechanics which represent the seven sins. Game loop is satisfying. I played both jam and post-jam versions. The most appreciated feature in the post-jam version is the exit sign, (i couldn't find where to run in the jam version). Some sort of ambient background audio could be cool but I’m not sure if it would break the retro vibe. Good job!

The Ghost of Leo by kabloosh 2024-04-21T11:13:31Z

Such a bittersweet narrative game on mourning and closure. Definitely goes to my personal top 3 in LD55. I don’t why but the guardian of the cemetery, despite being a dog, made me remember my precious late cat.

Dreamcat by nidjo123 2024-04-27T00:00:42Z

It’s about a calico cat with an idle animation looking into my soul and all that happens in a cat’s dream. I can’t imagine something cuter than this. Levels, especially the "catnip" ones were well designed and more than enough for a jam game. Excellent job!

Cards of Angels in the Manor of Demons by JustMars 2024-04-27T20:10:12Z

It’s a very interesting take on the tower defense genre. Environmental design is very elaborate and polished. I liked the music which reflects the tense atmosphere nicely. The tutorial level is a huge plus since it's a game with its own rules. It certainly has potential to be developed further with more variety. Excellent job!

Panpidech by Jeffez 2024-04-27T00:35:14Z

The art style is pleasant and the gameplay is intuitive. I also appreciate the environmentalist undertone. It is not a major issue but maybe procedural generation of the level or even randomizing the location of the wastes could be highly beneficial for the game. Good job!

An Old Song by Lestat 2024-04-20T23:41:59Z

It is nice to see another narrative game in LD55. I really liked the enigmatic atmosphere of the game! And also I know what you mean when you explain your initial aim to make it "much more elaborated and emotive". I've been here too with a similar aim to create a narration, yet it is jam with limited time. Great job!

Sminer by LightningST 2024-04-27T12:33:48Z

It looks like an authentic retro game with its visual style and music. I like the layout of the elements. Gameplay is quite novel and engaging. Good job!

Summon Traffic Controller by Ben Albert 2024-04-26T23:14:41Z

It is a really fun game which makes you want more. I like the simple capsule character with hat and staff, which is cute and well animated. Disposing the excess creatures is a nice addition to the main loop of the game. Good job!

Summoning a Memory by ScrapMetal 2024-04-23T20:21:19Z

I liked the charming and moody art style. Memory summoning is an interesting mechanic and has potential to create intricate platforming puzzles. The gameplay is surprisingly challenging. I encountered some minor bugs involving summoned memory which is understandable for a jam game. Good job!

High School of Conjuration by fumybulb 2024-04-28T20:44:48Z

It is fun and engaging. Deciding the best strategy to run from the furious little demons is surprisingly tense. Art is pleasant, and I especially liked the backgrounds. Also the implementation of enemy AI is admirable. Great job!

Rituals by nelow 2024-04-21T10:58:25Z

Alongside the creepy atmosphere and delightful low-res aesthetic, the best thing about the game is how immersive it feels. I hope you expand it into something much bigger.

Summons of the Sovereign by Hare Software 2024-04-26T00:32:20Z

It's a quite polished hidden gem that I'm delighted to play. Availability of a player vs computer mode is admirable. Tutorial level is also a huge plus for a game with its own rules. Isometric pixel art and the music fits the mood well. Last but not least, voice acting also adds a lot to the overall experience. I wish I was good at such games. Excellent Job!

Arcane Anagrams by edj99 2024-04-24T12:13:33Z

It’s a lovely little game with a potential to be loved by many players, especially on mobile platforms. The game play is engaging as a mind exercise. I know it is connected to the internal theme of the game but the runic font is a little hard to read and needs a while to adjust. Nice job!

Crystal Defense by Wieczny 2024-04-24T16:30:20Z

The concept of the game is brilliant. The spells with combined effects are admirable. Audio can be improved but not a big deal for a jam game. With a little polishment, it can be far more than a jam game!. Excellent job!

Labyrinth of Fiends by jcbeaureg 2024-04-24T10:44:53Z

It’s a lovely game with a coherent art style and somewhat like from the so-called good old days. Procedural dungeon generation is a nice touch. Audio could make it more polished. The repetitive feeling, mentioned by the other players, could be broken with some trick by recoloring and resizing the same enemy sprite to create different types with varying speeds, damage, size, etc. Good Job!

Stars Align by cassowary 2024-04-28T17:03:10Z

The lizard wizard and its spellcasting animation are adorable. Despite the simple and easy to learn rules, it’s quite deep and well crafted in comparison with many other puzzle games. Great job!

Shenanigans at Schmendy's by Cope 2024-04-20T16:06:56Z

It is extremely satisfying to beat the annoying wizards and clean their mess with a single broomstick! Good job!

Soul Weaver by GreenRadiation 2024-04-24T13:48:51Z

The Rune drawing mechanic is awesome which made me feel like I was actually casting some spell . Art style is pleasant and polished. The current state of the game can be the basis for a larger project after the jam. Excellent job!

HTON by deniskazantsev 2024-04-30T21:46:19Z

It is quite an interesting hybrid of god simulator and narrative game. The minimal art style and the writing is delightfully haunting. Excellent job.

The Summoner's Apprentice by magus77 2024-04-27T14:43:01Z

I might be a little partial to this one since I used Godot for a 3D game too, but the visual style looks great and the mechanics to conduct the summoning rituals are quite immersive. Also the humor is a nice touch. Several minor issues involving physics are acceptable for a jam game. Excellent job.

LD 55 - The Great "Sum"-moner! by Nwoknu 2024-04-26T19:08:52Z

The game captures the feeling of educational games perfectly which is nice to experience for the sake of the good old days. There was no sound which could be a problem on my side but still I was able to hear sound effects and even music in my head :) Good job!

Court Date by sillyman987 2024-04-26T18:23:30Z

The naive art style is charming and I really liked the idea of controlling punches with the keys which is quite a novel approach. Gameplay is quite enjoyable. Nice job!

Beastkeeper by Starlex3000 2024-04-24T14:23:53Z

This game is among personal favorites in LD55. Both in-game voxel art and the art of beast icons are adorable. The cutscenes with camera movements to signify the points of interest are a nice touch. Certain minor bugs such as some text are unreadable behind objects and navigational problems involving beast are totally acceptable for a jam game. Excellent job!

Summoning altar by stamestratagem 2024-04-23T19:02:17Z

One of the most visually distinctive games I've encountered in LD55 so far. Maybe I am somewhat partial but collages with a touch of vaporwave are delightful. The upgrading system is satisfying and gameplay is smooth. Nice job!

Naturevenge by Igoreshka 2024-04-26T11:27:02Z

The tower recycling is a novel idea which makes the gameplay more dynamic than an ordinary tower defense game. Art style is charming. Last but not least, As an ecologist, I am always partial to the games which I can play on the side of nature :) Great job!

Save Baby Cthulhu by Cloistered 2024-04-19T19:27:48Z

Simple yet quite enjoyable game. I especially like subtle humor involving the baby Cthulhu cries over such serious music.

Infernal Covenant by AXLplosion 2024-04-19T23:18:38Z

It is visually stunning and game play is quite intuitive. It could be great as a full fledged game with more complex rules and a storyline.

In My Image by Big_Chalupa 2024-04-20T14:53:21Z

Presence of a narrative which involves a cast and an engaging game mechanic is a killer combo. I liked the mysterious vibe supported with art style and music. Excellent job!

Penguinology by Smidgens 2024-04-28T20:59:52Z

In my first run, I was highly doubtful whether I played it as intended or not but, after several tries I got good enough to fall into oblivion from the cliffs. Jokes aside, the audio was great and I liked the dreamy post-effect. Nice job!

Ordinary Wizards Doing Ordinary Things by Fupi 2024-04-22T23:47:09Z

Humor is great, gameplay is addicting and programmer art is delightful. Now i go back to play some more. Last but not least, thanks for loving me.

Geekmancer by Gonzo13 2024-04-25T19:47:51Z

The game has one of the most distinctive art style/aesthetics I've encountered so far in LD55. Gameplay is surprisingly rich with the provided shapes and weapons which leave room for tons of experimentation in each run. The music fits the mood nicely. Not a major issue for a jam game but some sort of tutorial could be nice. Great job!

Summonion by KeithSwanger 2024-04-20T00:23:01Z

Surprisingly complex and well balanced game. But a tutorial level to explain onion production, summoning and using the slingshot could be highly beneficial.

A cake from beyond by Nuanda79 2024-04-30T02:00:02Z

It’s an adorable game which looks really polished. Art style is charming. I liked the cartoony backgrounds and character designs of the girl, granny and the doggo equally. It’s a huge plus that the puzzles are intuitive and don't require pixel hunting. The humor is cute and the music fits the mood of the game nicely. I know it's a jam game but I wish I could play a much longer version. Excellent job!

School is Hell by Gizmo199 2024-04-20T00:01:55Z

It is not like a jam game but a polished product with cute art and music. Gameplay is engaging and enjoyable. Great job!

Delightfully Devilish by CORRUPTOR2037 2024-04-26T19:37:39Z

Delightful is the right word to describe both gameplay and art. I like the experimental nature of the game. Character designs are lovely. Both music and the sound effects capture the vibe nicely. Great job!

Autobahn to Hell by Revetoon 2024-04-28T17:28:23Z

The visual style of the game is stunning which I can say that it is one of my favorites so far. I like the multiple distinct levels with different music which are really good and fit the mood. Also the backstory is a nice touch. Not a huge deal for a jam game but sound effects could add some more game juice . I hope you can develop it further after the jam. Excellent job!

The Ordnancer by ForceElementZ 2024-04-20T23:03:21Z

Satisfying combat with a good selection of weapons. Well utilized audio and visual effects with matching visual style. Good job!

Muddy Wars by betovf 2024-04-26T11:13:38Z

Surprisingly enjoyable. Limited ammo and time, together with challenging controls, makes the game some sort of dynamic puzzle which requires some planning in each level. Nice job!

Summoning Detective by hamsel 2024-04-28T14:13:29Z

It's a quite refreshing experience to play a pen-and-paper game which is quite nice to see in Ludum Dare. I took a few re-reads to grasp the rules but the game was great. Excellent job!

Summon in the Dungeon by TijmenD 2024-04-20T23:18:22Z

Levels are well designed and the art style is cool. I especially liked ambience which is created with background sounds without music.

Summon Get It! by Chrispy977 2024-04-20T15:56:42Z

The low poly aesthetic and the clunkiness of the game made me remember the games that I played like crazy aeons ago. Congrats that you have captured this feeling successfully!

Demanager by satacat 2024-04-23T18:03:02Z

It’s a refreshing approach to identify the demons (which are really cute and well selected) based on the summoning materials. Obviously not a huge deal but it can be more punishing. By the way, my favorite demon was 999 among all, it was really funny :) Good job!

Invocation by FullSaphir 2024-04-19T13:30:37Z

The Art and the audio of the game are pretty and fitting the vibe of the game. I appreciate the game design that the combinations to summon demons are intuitive and mostly don't require moon logic.

Creepy Crawlers by Alpha Wolf Studios 2024-04-22T23:12:11Z

The crawlers are cute and the cards are delightfully creepy. The levels are nicely designed. While the experimentation with the cards is enjoyable in itself, some sort of tutorial could be highly beneficial. Nice job!

Faemori by EllieRaev 2024-04-28T14:05:39Z

The pixel art of the minions is lovely and the animations are well crafted. Music fits the retro vibe nicely. The variety of minions makes the gameplay quite enjoyable. Good job!

Mansion of Dreams by saintchristopher777 2024-04-24T18:23:04Z

It was a delightful experience. Minimalist art style was quite distinctive and voice acting was a nice touch. To be honest, if there wasn’t that cheat-sheet, I couldn't finish the game, but once you get the idea things begin to make sense. Good job!

Phasebound by Kepsert 2024-04-25T01:09:43Z

Design of James/Lisa/Burt/Custom the Giraffe is adorable. Humor is great, puzzles are enjoyable. Themusic and effects fit the lighthearted mood. One of the most polished games I've played in LD55. Excellent job!

Siege Wizard by CemKaanU 2024-04-26T20:06:07Z

I like the seamless transition from main menu to game play. The control scheme which relies on only the mouse is brilliant. Some sort of tutorial could be highly beneficial but not a huge deal. Good job!

The Kings Summoning Man by D3kryption 2024-04-19T19:19:36Z

Everything looks gorgeous and polished. The voxel characters looks really expressive in the cutscenes. So many things can be built upon the current state of the game.

Mage Summoner on Royal Duel by TentacleDream 2024-04-24T20:18:20Z

It’s a really novel battle system. but requires some familiarity with the summon circles, runes and the formulae which makes the game a little bit hard to access, due to the fast pacing nature of the battles. Art style is cute and the music fits the magical mood of the game. Good job!

Fiesta De Las Quimeras! by Jean-Francois 2024-04-22T23:32:27Z

I really liked the art style. Music and effects perfectly fit the creepy-cute atmosphere of the game. Orchestration is lovely and the xylophone is a good choice for any bony occasion involving a graveyard :) Rules are intuitive and gameplay is quite engaging. Great job!

Djimm's Revenge by player04 2024-04-27T15:20:33Z

The pixel art and the animations, which are reminiscent of Prince of Persia, look quite polished and the Gameplay loop is nice. Not a huge deal for a jam game but some variety for the attacks could be great. Excellent job!

Gods of the Forest by Dan Allison 2024-04-23T17:28:29Z

The art style is great. Backstory and dialogues are well written to set the mood. I really liked the original approach for the spell casting which is the most distinctive feature of the game. Not a major issue but, a little game juice applied to the spellbook, can make the experience far more impressive. Great job!

Siela by Gnum_ 2024-04-18T12:37:12Z

The visual style and the mood of the game is really impressive. Gameplay is rather soothing. I did not encounter any major bugs. I hope you can develop it further to be a full fledged game after the jam.

Aphantasia by Bitlytic 2024-04-25T00:51:40Z

It’s a really polished game. Art style and character design is gorgeous. Puzzles and the skills are well crafted. I wish there was more to play. Last but not least, cool zoom, as its name suggests, cool. Excellent job!

Creature Conjurers by Tao Yuanyue 2024-04-23T10:46:56Z

It is incredible to see the well taught outcomes of each combination. The delightful art and humorous item descriptions are just great. It can be the basis of something far bigger. I hope you keep building over it after the jam. Great job!

Unstable Elementals by sdelaney 2024-04-20T14:42:18Z

Gameplay is really engaging. I forced myself to stop playing to write this. Art style of elementals is both cute and eerie. as mentioned above by another person, they could be a little bigger to shine. Great job!

The Curse of PentaCastle by Lila Pause 2024-04-27T20:40:39Z

I liked the pixel art style and character design. Parallax effect is a nice touch. Variety of enemies is admirable. The spellcasting mechanic is quite enjoyable and satisfying. There are some minor issues (which are acceptable for a jam game) I encountered. The pentagram goes out of screen when the cursor is close to the corners. Platforming is sometimes challenging (which is prominent in level 3) and may need some adjustment to colliders. Excellent job!

🐑 S.H.E.E.P - Sheep Hell Emissaries, Eradicate Purity 🐑 by Shenoit 2024-04-27T21:09:01Z

It’s one of my personal favorites in LD55. Gameplay is extremely addicting. Art style is cute and polished. Skills are well designed. One minor issue I encountered, blur caused by Kraken makes the selections hard to see (which can be an intentional design choice to lead to a trade-off, I am not sure) Excellent job!

Datema by Jack Bingham 2024-04-20T15:30:42Z

I liked the hand painted aesthetic of the art and the ethereal music which are quite befitting the style of the game and I can see the potential. With a little polishing it can be far more accessible. For instance, some kind of indicator for the mana catching device in dreamscape and better explanation of the ricochet mechanic can be beneficial. Also, it could be much better if the resources are not wasted in a wrong summoning process.

Don't get seen. by RRADU 2024-04-24T12:38:16Z

I really liked the overall ambience of the game which is a result of the color scheme and low-poly/low-res aesthetic. Humor in the tutorial is a nice touch to set the mood. One-shot kill gives a puzzle vibe to the gameplay. Audio can be improved but it’s not a huge deal for a jam game. Now it’s time to find the 7th guy that I couldn't find.

Impatient God by dardasaba 2024-04-28T23:23:16Z

In my first run, I couldn't understand but then i realized that it's a game which requires learning and planning through the runs. I like the writing and humor. The quests and the NPC’s are quite elaborate for a jam game. Pixel art and music fit the mood nicely. Good job!

Party Wizard by braktheman 2024-04-21T00:38:36Z

To be honest, I couldn't play it properly because of the wizard guy. Whenever I looked at him I just laughed. My favorite in the humor category so far. Great job!

Evocation by kanity 2024-04-20T17:48:37Z

As a long-time visual novel player, I really liked this game. The art is gorgeous and works great with the lo-fi/distorted voice acting over the eerie music to create an enigmatic atmosphere. Also the memory based rune game is a nice touch. Great job.

Haunted Cartomancy by Norah 2024-05-01T00:58:46Z

It was really a great experience. Every visual element is gorgeous, both 2d and 3d. Story is crafted beautifully and the puzzles are intuitive. The music fits the mood perfectly. One of the best in the LD55. Excellent job.

Bony Barricade by Philocode 2024-04-24T14:02:17Z

It is a well crafted game with a nice variety of units and aging up mechanic. The voxel art style is a nice touch. I am not sure if it is a balancing issue or intentional design choice, but it was a little challenging for me. On the other hand, I am not experienced in tower defense games, so it is probably me. Good job!

Necrogirl by Constance 2024-04-26T18:14:32Z

It’s a surprisingly challenging game with engaging gameplay. I like both the in-game and cover art style. Not a huge deal for a jam game, but walking animation for the characters could be highly beneficial. Good job!

Trinity by Loka 2024-04-28T13:48:18Z

The gameplay is quite enjoyable and the variety of minions is admirable. The visual style is pleasant, and I especially liked the overlay of elements. Good job!

Frame Wizards by AlezJL 2024-04-19T19:40:36Z

The art style is quite charming and gameplay is enjoyable once you understand the idea, but some button to un-summon excess products can be highly beneficial to avoid cluttering.

Big Fire Restaurant by DuduBertolDev 2024-04-24T16:12:33Z

It’s an enjoyable game with engaging gameplay and lighthearted mood which involves violent foods and heavy metal. The upgrade system and weapon variety is a plus. I didn’t encounter any bugs. Good job!

Summoning for Suckers by Hobscure 2024-04-24T15:02:03Z

It is an interesting example of the match-three genre. Best word to describe the art is uncanny which is a combined result of art and animation. Back story is a nice touch. It is a minor issue but the intro could be delivered in a more polished way, maybe with bigger fonts. Good job!

Demonware Incorporated by hamster cheeks 2024-04-19T20:48:00Z

I found my personal winner of LD55, and it is not just about excellent gameplay, mood, music, etc. It is much more personal. It is the reflection of my nightmares about my future.. And yes, I have a PhD in ecology...

Demonware Incorporated by hamster cheeks 2024-04-19T21:34:09Z

@hamster-cheeks *Unfortunately* not insect ecology.. Computational ecology and modeling, but still.. :)

the Crowd by silverash 2024-04-20T15:41:08Z

Art style is phenomenal. I can say that it is in my personal top three among all the games I played in the LD55. Gameplay is smooth and polished. Puzzles are not too challenging which is a plus for me, since I am terrible at puzzle games:)

@TheMaskedMan I can not thank you enough. Turns out Godot "embed pck" didn't embed anything at all :) I reuploaded a zip file which contains both the exe and pck files. So the problem should be fixed now (fingers crossed).

@megh-menghani Thank you very much for playing! Can you elaborate on the render issue? Are the textures/shaders looks wrong or the following scenes (Monkey's paw cutscene then the corridor scene) are not triggered to be loaded? Your feedback is very valuable!

Ballad of Lead Shroud by KrummSakura 2024-04-18T13:50:46Z

@megh-menghani Thank you so much. Obviosly a good old collider problem. I'm trying to recreate issue to fix it.

Ballad of Lead Shroud by KrummSakura 2024-04-18T13:57:00Z

@TheMaskedMan Thank you so much for playing! Was the issue you encountered in the first run falling through the floor?

Ballad of Lead Shroud by KrummSakura 2024-04-18T15:16:14Z

@TheMaskedMan and @megh-menghani, Thanks to your feedback, i fixed the issue caused by the wrongly triggered toilet door which was not intended to be opened :)

Ballad of Lead Shroud by KrummSakura 2024-04-21T18:52:58Z

@tykenn Thank you so much, your kind words and the way you interpreted the atmosphere made my day! Also it is not nitpicking, I totally agree that the text expanding from the center was a bad design choice. It somehow works for short expressions, but makes the longer sentences hard to follow. Noted for the next time.

Ballad of Lead Shroud by KrummSakura 2024-04-21T18:53:27Z

@lestat Thank you so much! To be frank, I am also not pleased about the “letter by letter” approach, and totally agree that it feels cliché - even with the “click to reveal all then proceed to the next'' option which is common in many narratives/visual novels. I will definitely try different options for upcoming projects.

Ballad of Lead Shroud by KrummSakura 2024-04-22T20:53:20Z

@ilbini Thank you so much! In fact, all the things you pointed out, corresponds to the corners I cut during the jam. I recorded more musical material but time wasn't enough to add them in a meaningful way. I didn't want to just cut the ongoing music without implementing a mechanic for a proper transition. Flashback scenes were also among my intentions , especially for the corridor scene to explain the former events caused by the first two wishes… I plan to expand the story after the jam.

Ballad of Lead Shroud by KrummSakura 2024-04-23T10:30:44Z

@k-toll Thank you so much! You made my day! My intentions were more intricate aural shenanigans yet time was not on my side. I plan to develop the game further after the jam, I hope you play that version too, when it is ready. As for the matter of resurrection… BOOONNNG.. (the answer is unheard under a deep A5 chord, then the scene fades out…)

Ballad of Lead Shroud by KrummSakura 2024-04-23T21:54:53Z

@kurakurture Thank you so much for your detailed feedback which contains highly beneficial points to improve the game! I am aware of the problems around the text. I should follow the classical method in visual novels/narrative games (first E to reveal the text and the second E to skip to the next line). Also, I totally agree that there should be some visual indicators to distinguish the protagonist from the band. I will definitely improve those in a potential post jam version.

@jebouin Thank you so much! It’s not nitpicking! It's valuable feedback which points out something that I didn't realize. I will definitely fix it.

Ballad of Lead Shroud by KrummSakura 2024-04-23T22:25:28Z

@human Thank you so much!. It is valuable feedback! You point out something that I overlooked. The doors on the left side of the corridor open out of the room. I will definitely fix it!

@freamdev Thank you so much for the feedback. Glad that you liked it. I agree that it was a design mistake for a narrative game which was pointed out by players. So I uploaded a new post-jam improvement version to avoid the skipping text.

Ballad of Lead Shroud by KrummSakura 2024-04-25T22:09:19Z

@linus-lindberg Thank you so much for playing and the feedback! I wish I had more time to add interactions with the objects. It was really painful to let the objects be mere props after spending a huge chunk of the time to model them. Another unmet goal was adding flashback scenes for the events mentioned in the corridor scene. After the jam, I plan to work on an extended version.

Ballad of Lead Shroud by KrummSakura 2024-04-27T00:13:39Z

@justmars thanks for playing and the detailed feedback. I totally agree that there is a balance issue between the details of the environment and the objects. It was a combined result of the available time for modeling/model optimization and the performance considerations. After all, the environment is sacrificed to summon the game :)

Ballad of Lead Shroud by KrummSakura 2024-04-27T00:18:39Z

@surfa Thanks for playing and the feedback. Glad that you enjoyed it. The time was a huge constraint to implement the exploration/interaction elements beyond the main line of the story which I initially planned.

Ballad of Lead Shroud by KrummSakura 2024-04-27T21:32:39Z

@hare-software Thank you so much for your kind words. But it's not as impressive as implementing “vs cpu” mode in a card/strategy game as in your case ;)

@smidgens Thank you so much for playing and the valuable feedback! In fact, until the post-jam version, walking speed was reduced to 20% to create slow motion effect combined with reduced mouse sensitivity, but to avoid some rare bug leading to erroneous triggering, I reduced it to 2% (aka practically no motion). Totally agree that it doesn't look fluid. Also, thanks for the warning. As you say, In the current state, the mouse is not captured properly, once clicked outside the game window. Noted to be fixed. Hopefully, I will expand and improve the game after the jam.

@nuanda79 Thank you so much for your kind words! Glad you enjoyed it!

Ballad of Lead Shroud by KrummSakura 2024-05-02T23:54:42Z

@unless-games Thank you so much for playing and the valuable feedback. I’m aware of the mouse capturing issue which is quite annoying, but couldn’t find a chance to fix it. I'll try to implement a better way to display texts in the version I plan to develop after LD. As for the book and the record, these are the unfortunate examples of the corner cutting due to the time constraint.

Ballad of Lead Shroud by KrummSakura 2024-05-03T22:07:18Z

@ava-skoog Thank you so much for playing and the valuable feedback! You are probably the only player interacting with the unintentional easter eggs which were not designed to be so :). I guess I should make the head bob optional which is a cool idea. I plan to expand the game after LD to add some depth to the characters and events. Hopefully you can play it when it’s done.

Manku the Magician by PorChor 2024-04-18T18:04:47Z

Simple but addicting gameplay and gorgeous art. Implementation of the scoring is brilliant. Definitely in my personal top 3!

HolyCrash by YANGSANG 2024-04-18T15:55:14Z

The art style is really distinctive and the isekai reference is hilarious. As a suggestion, if you prefer to develop the game further, please consider implementing a color blind mode.

Slimmoning Bounce by GiomomoGiovanna 2024-04-19T19:05:05Z

The visual style and audio are charming. I am sure it is fun with 2 players but a single player mode can also be implemented (maybe with a timer?)

Summon & Chill by Flogram 2024-04-21T00:17:53Z

Waiting for the words to fall, strangely feels like tetris. When a simple “et” doesn't arrive at the time it is frustrating but when a line disappears, it feels great. Simple but best kind of simple. Great job.

rotator by Gallant_Dev 2024-04-24T19:38:07Z

The minimalist art style is really nice. I am sure that there are other similar card games but it reminded me of the card game called E-card from famous gambling manga *Kaiji*. Good job!

Book of the Ghosts by laszlotimar 2024-04-22T22:52:04Z

The shaders look fantastic. Despite some camera issues, gameplay is quite nice. Also the color based attack concept is a nice touch. Good job!

Experiment 44 by kolaz koleso 2024-04-22T22:41:31Z

It's a really cool idea and made me remember Hypnospace Outlaw. The artwork and choice of music fits the mood of the game. I liked the well crafted backstory. I have two minor suggestions. First, the text in the mails could be a little bigger. The second one is about the text, expanding letter by letter from the center, in the intro sequence. I also used a similar approach in my game (which you are more than welcome to play) and according to feedback I've got from the players, it is a little hard to follow, especially in the case of longer chunks of text. Great Job!

Unpetrify by Jawdan 2024-04-24T13:18:42Z

It’s really impressive for a jam game. Game play is satisfying which can make the player keep on. At least i couldnt stop for a while. With some environmental challenge or at least a resource sink but building, could make it much more engaging. Excellent job!

Fedora Fury by Vantalogic 2024-04-19T12:37:07Z

The humor, the art style, presence of a non-fedora, voice of the players conscience and “run stupid”. One of the best I encountered in LD55!

Succubi Slayer by Lonthy 2024-04-24T21:21:27Z

Despite the lack of a game loop as you mentioned, it’s surprising how enjoyable even a single solid mechanic can be. It is a good starting point. Good job!

Phasmophile by Joschino 2024-04-18T12:46:47Z

I really like the underlying idea. It has quite potential for further development. Good job!

TANKZ by Funday Games 2024-04-26T18:50:33Z

It is almost a finished product rather than a jam game. I especially liked the hand painted looking art style. The movement animations of the tank and the particle effects look really professional. Upgrading and building systems add much to the gameplay. Excellent job!
