@swerky sorry about that, you caught us in the middle of the submission! Game is up now, give it a go! :tada: :rocket:
This is a fun little entry, and the gameplay there is solid. I liked the variety present in the upgrades, and would've loved to see that in the base building as well. I'm confused though: you haven't opted out of the audio and graphics category, and have an artist listed for your team... But you also say that the music, sfx, and models were all bought? What exactly was done by the team, and what was purchased? I can't really rate those categories if I don't know what the team actually made, and if the answer is nothing for a given category, then you should opt-out of ratings for it.
3D assets are really good. With lightning of the scene - everything looks delicious. Moving tanks are wobbling which is a lot of fun. Did not catch how this game is connected to summoning. But I am overall positive.
This is probably my new favorite from the Jam. It's so well made and fun I just wish it was longer. The one thing I didn't see in it is just the theme. I don't know how well a tower defense about tanks and processing oil goes with the theme of summoning.
Overall very nice, and a great job by the team!
@bloodyaugust I'm glad you liked the game! Artist here. Just to clarify on the visual side of things, the only thing I've used from asset packages are the low-poly rocks against the cliffs and 2 ground textures (rocks and sand). Everything else is made by me. We updated the credits to make this more clear, and we also removed audio from ratings. Sorry for the confusion :)
It's a fun tower defense game, and I like the idea of the player directly controlling the strongest part of the defense. The short timer between waves and the player having to actually drive to where they want to create towers meant that later on I wasn't able to actually plan much, and I feel like it discourages the player from using more than a couple towers. Overall it also feels more like building than summoning in regards to the theme, but it's still a good idea (the tank upgrades between waves was fun to see even if the UI for selecting them wasn't working when I tried it).
Graphism is on point! The game feel of moving the tank is very cool. Gameplay wise we lack a bit of control and a way to win healthy
Incredibly good looking game for a game jam entry. love the very clear UX work with enemies red, built turrets green, player blue. Had a ton of fun and good luck in the jam!
great models and innovative gameplay!!
I love how everything bounce around! Even your tank is bouncy  One thing I can complain is that I find myself constantly holding shift since it has no drawbacks. Maybe going fast could be the default. Overall game is pretty fun though!
Looks and feels really good to move around.
Fantastic job! I'm always blown away by what people are able to make in just three days - the models and animation of the tanks feels especially impressive. I feel like I haven't seen a lot of "active" defense games before (a neat mix between strategic tower defense, bullet hell and bullet heaven) and I love the concept! Being an active participant incorporates a lot of neat ideas into the experience, like being able to compensate for the weaker side of your setup, having to run around and choose what upgrades to pick with limited setup time, and even being able to draw enemy aggro away from your base, turrets and oil drills by strafing around enemies or tanking hits close-range. Regardless of whether or not all these subtleties were intentional, this is a really great concept that I could totally see myself playing a more fleshed-out version of in the future (with more weapons, levels, the ability to control your own aim, etc).
wow!!very cool game
THAT TANK IS SO CUTE. I NEED ONE IN MY LIFE. Thank you.
Fun game, and it looks very shiny! First try I got backdoored hard on wave 4. Second try I made it to the last wave, but I did not stand a chance  I had most upgrades, so perhaps that one was a bit overtuned
Neat little game - maybe not exactly fitting of the "summoning" theme  but hey, you are "summoning" towers and oil rigs, so maybe that counts :v:
Could be even more strategic and interesting if you could place turrets/towers anywhere and if the enemy armor had weak and strong points, so you would have to position yourself carefully to do the most amount of damage.
Overall, nicely done, but it could have been longer - I didn't want it to end!
Really enjoyed the graphics. The tank is super cute. Gameplay was fun and balanced and didn't drag on too long. Very impressed.
For the theming I see you also very very loosely adhered to the theme :)
Great little base defense game with a very polished look and great game feel.
The blue tank is incredibly cute!
Absolutely phenomenal entry! Love the aesthetic, from the models and lighting to the shaders and animations. Sound design is well thought out too, and the gameplay is simple but very satisfying. I could easily see this as a complete game with a more fleshed out building summoning mechanic and more content. Absolutely amazing for only 3 days work!
The Graphics, Particles effects, combat, look and feel of this game is absolutely amazing for a game jam. Reminds me a lot of Thronefall. Well done!
The graphic style is impressive and dynamic! I appreciated the topic of conscription into the army :D
No source code?
it's just amazing. Was this actually done as part of the jam?
amazing!
Very nice entry, really liked how the tank tilts on the edge when it moves, the graphics also reminded me an older obscure favorite of mine: State of War.
Amazing game!
Hey guys. Thronefall vibes indeed, but with this art style and the juicy bullethell elements it is just so satisfying to play. The tank is amazing, it has so much personality that it feels like a character.
Some notes on mechanics: The timer to the next wave doesn't seem to be doing anything for the gameplay, I felt time pressure only once in the beginning when I was reading what the upgrades did, and the rest of the time I was simply spawn camping the enemy wave and waiting for the timer to run out.
Holding down a button to go faster did not really make sense to me since I never let go of the button, there is no reason, at least that I can see, to go slow.
the oil feels a bit one dimensional, as in it can only do two things, upgrade turrets, or invest in more oil. Other things it could be used for from the top of my head would be, to repair the tank, or to spend on drawing more upgrades for it. Just to allow the player to decide on how they will play the next wave, will you spend more on turrets an then hide behind them, or do you heal and go tank, like the chubby little tank that you are :)
Being able to jump of the cliffs, is a really great mechanical addition with a ton of potential. I allow you to tackle verticality in a way the enemies cannot, and has the potential for some very interesting level design to be built around it. Due to the floaty gravity and lack of response when landing I feel this was not planned for, but is definitely an awesome addition.
Very nice entry, again that tank is so Good!
EDIT: I just noticed that by holding A you can speed up the timer. So I no longer have any notes on the timer mechanic. :) I also found out tankz can fly when you stand on a building, which is awesome!
Cool game, i found it really funny that one gets knocked into the air when building a tower underneath oneself :D Couldn't beat the game, no idea how one is supposed to win the 6th wave, its too hard x.x Overall well done Game, good job!
Sooo good! Amazing little game!
I fond this game is amazing, than I found the game company logo looks familiar, I your your page than boom!!! you are the devs of deep rock survivors ,I cant believe that, deep rock survivors is amazing ,so does this game
Loved this. So polished and really fun, good difficulty, loved the cute tanks!
Love to see polished games! Gameplay also pretty solid. I cannot really see any summoning, but overall, chapeau for doing this in 72h. Great entry!
Extremely polished graphic & animation, I'm not sure if it really fits the theme tho. The need of holding down shift is a bit not needed (if it has no downside). But overall this is an amazing jam entry!
Incredible, it reminds me of Supercell games. I love the animations, models, and particles. Overall, I like everything related to the art, hehe. Additionally, the waves show a certain level of increasing difficulty, and the enemies are really good.
WOW, great work. this is so good. Make this a mobile game and id totally play on my lunch break.
One of the most graphically polished entries in the jam and the mechanics work pretty nicely too. I finished the game but had only a small sliver of health left on both my tank and my base. Agree it's not really to theme, but it's a neat game all the same. I had a good time with it all the same.
Couldn't find a direct match to the theme, but definitely had a lot of fun playing the game. The difficulty curve is quite steep, excellent graphics, and decent gameplay. Good job!
Fun and pretty, theme match is quite a reach though
How did you guys managed to pull that off ? :D It's amazing for a jam game I really don't have much to say, well done
Wow, the game looks fantastic! I'm sure with more development time this could actually come to a full release. I very much liked it and want a longer version!
wow, great graphics. gameplay was also fun and satisfying. sad it was so short, but for a jam game still long enough. congrats to the great entry.
Awesome game, I love the artstyle and the gameplay is so much fun. I got pretty far and I'm not sure if there is an ending. If there is I would love to give it another shot.
Great movement, good graphics and very cool concept. Found a glitch where the enemy tank got stuck in the place where the turret is supposed to be. Quite hard with no healing but still great game.
Fun game overall, the graphics and animations was very nice, combat felt good as well. Not sure why the building location is restricted, I feel like it would be better if I could place turrets wherever I want. Also had some issues with the ui not always showing up when it should, so I couldn't build or upgrade.
very beautiful graphics and the recoil from the shots from the tank, the lighting itself and the selection of the color palette are quite local and I really like it! I think if you refine and make a full-fledged game it will be very cool! good luck with the development of your project!!
Wow nice graphic. I love it. It can be full game on steam. This animations and moving just amazing. I really want to see full version of this game
Nice graphic and animation, so fluently and the game feel is good. probably one of the best this time I've played so far
Great graphics! Well done!
Great game! Fun, good controls, looks great, and was challenging the first time through.
Nice graphics and mood. I liked the upgrades and level of challenge. Thank you for the very fun entry! Great job!
One of the best entry I've played for now. The thing that really make it hard is that there is no heal. But very fun !
Really nice and well done for just 72hs! great job!
Thank you so much for all the great feedback, and lovely messages! We're still working on the game, and plan to release a new version in a few days! We're making notes of all the suggestions too, so please, keep it coming!
I'm shocked. That's awesome.
It was really fun, but I would love some harder levels after the "final level". Maybe a really difficult boss fight, or a way to find a strategy to beat said boss (different types of turrents? or an upgrade path where you choose the upgrade?). Great entry overall though, the visuals were probably the best I have seen this jam so far.
I somehow sent the same comment twice and can't remove it. So I edited it with some more feedback: - SFX felt great - It took me a moment to figure out the controls for shooting - sometimes it just didnt shoot - Maybe add the ability to buy upgrades while enemies are coming? I missed my chance the first time trying to figure out the controls. Then again, the time pressure is nice.
Graphics are great, controls feel good. It did feel a little repetitive on the second level with the big tank. (felt like a bullet sponge)
Super polished game, I love all those animations and cute graphics, explosions, and audio... it doesn't feel like a game jam. Extremely well done!
Awesome tower defense game! Amazing visuals, fun game play. I wish later waves were a little more balanced in terms of difficulty. The first couple of waves have enemies coming from single direction then suddenly the game jump to great number of enemies coming multiple directions. Still, great entry!
Proably the best 3d graphics i've ever seen in a LD game, amazing
It's an amazing submission for a jam. The simple mechanics make it really fun, and the possibility to fight with your own tank and not only use towers make it really interesting
Juicy and cool! Nice visuals. Awesome work!
really good entry, maybe one of my top 3 so far! awesome
Great game! The game was intuitive. I had the instructions but i already new what to do. It keeps to the genre but still feels original at the same time. Great mobile game in my opinion. Graphics, audio and effects were great. I made the tank launch in the air but then it didnt seem to come back down untill I moved. Would have been cool if it crashed back down, but i know this has nothing to do with the game. Great entry into the jam. Good job!
I love the art and solid game play mechanics. How does one pull this off in like 3 days?? =)
Everything is so great in this game except for one thing and that is tank controls. IMHO it's not how a game vehicle, particularly a tank, should be controlled. It should be more like a wheeled car but with the ability to spin in place. See Tanki Online as a reference. Or any other major tank game, e.g. World of Tanks or War Thunder. Sadly enough, current controls make me suffer. Other than that, a great game! Rock on!
For me, this is one of the best games of this edition of Ludum Dare! It absolutely deserves to be among the top! Everything is magnificent, and the fun is maximized. It's very polished, and the gameplay from start to finish is engaging. I'm a big fan of tower defense games, but the fact that I can control a tank and also be part of the defense against the horde of enemies makes it special. And all this was achieved in less than 72 hours! Spectacular game, I love it!
Very polished and complete game. I've had a nice time playing it. Good job!
Really fun, good game!
Thanks for all the feedback! We've updated the game to improve controls, added a couple of new enemy types and made waves opt-in. Summoning buildings are now more open and in less fixed positions.
Thank you so much for everyone leaving comments and feedback - we're reading all of it and will keep improving the game based on your feedback!
Cool game. The only thing that bothers is low amount of information about different stuff, f.i. buildings, what they do and how it upgrades if I upgrade them. It wasn't really obvious from the beginning that it is Tower Defense. But I like sounds, visuals and the balance
Really liked the visuals on this one. Love the tank design, was it inspired by metal slug? Sometimes buying or upgrading was a bit buggy when two buildings are close to eachother. Good and complete game, doesn't relate much to the theme tho.
The polish on this is wild. Audiovisually it's incredibly impressive, kudos! It didn't run perfectly on my browser (a very minor gripe), and I would have liked a bit more information so as not to be so clueless when starting off. While the summoning aspect isn't especially prominent, the vibes were on point, and most importantly, the game was really fun. Definitely a highlight of mine this LD.
It is almost a finished product rather than a jam game. I especially liked the hand painted looking art style. The movement animations of the tank and the particle effects look really professional. Upgrading and building systems add much to the gameplay. Excellent job!
Wow, this is really good. Visuals are great, and gameplay is really polished. I loved how the tank wobbled around when accelerating/cornering. It would be fun to have a "survival" mode to see how many waves of increasing difficulty you can survive.
Cool game with an astonishing visual. I really like how the tanks move - it is like a floating dance. The main gameplay is fun - "casual" I would like to say. After I upgraded the turrets it's too easy. I guess that there is a little misunderstanding or a strange way to interpret the theme - summoning is not surrender (maybe it was your intention). I don't know. No quit button. You should create a custom crosshair. However I had fun playing. Thank you for this entry. I wish you the best ++
This is a very cool Thronefall-like! I love how you're constantly facing a choice between building more oil drills and building more turrets. And it's a great detail that all upgrades are actually displayed on the tank's model. I was unsure how most of them trigger though - I bought rockets and machinegun, but didn't find a way to activate them, to do the fire automatically?
"Build a turret" prompt goes away away when you move close to another turret and never comes back.
The game was very fun to interact with in terms of juiciness and polish, but a bit too easy in terms of balance - I understand it's probably meant to be casual, but I wish there were different difficulties. It's a very, very solid entry overall, I'm looking forward to what it can become!
@nick-blackwood the upgrades are triggered automatically; only the 'main' tank shot is manually directed. Thanks for the bug-report regarding "build a turret", we'll make sure to fix that in an upcoming update!
Love the aesthetics of this game! Those little chunky tanks and that little wobble when they move and stop is just great! A very polished look and feel to the graphics, and the game overall!Great Work!
Amazing entry! The graphics and feel from shooting is soo good! The gameplay is also well balanced. The only criticism I can think of is that the AI of the tanks is sometimes a bit weird when prioritizing buildings over your tank.
