Ey whatup fam its yo boy, gameboy94 here
This was absolutely awesome
Cute game! A little bit short maybe
I loved the art, very cute - and also cat
@ghostdev708 Everything is very much bitcrushed :)
And yes - the game is definitely extremely loud and chaotic I think the mainmenu being quiet in general is actually more of a case that I discovered a bug where our "mainlevel" just ignores all the volume options and "please don't be extremely loud" settings we had. At the end of the day we just went with it.
Thank you so much for your nice review!
Edit: I will strike my co-developer on the finger for not normalizing the diagonal movement ;)
@Tudvari Thank you so much for the nice words <3
@potatofinch @drgcandle Hell yeah, thank you so much <3
@pelmanable No way, I think you're the first one to reach S tier!
THE SCORE OF THE GOOOODS
@sargonius Thank you so much for letting us know :D !!
@janinna21 @orbitaldot @matthewdrake @drgcandle Thank you so much :D This is going to put me in a good mood for the whole day!
@artemy-zen Thank you so much for those nice words!
@theheheo THE SCOOORE OF THE GOOOODS You're the second documented person ever to reach that far! Well done!!
@baluj There's always tomorrow!! Thank you :D
@cainetinyarms @sstyles93 Thank you so much :D
@pegasys Thank you so much <3
@alexis-brochec <3 Thank you so much We made our own voice lines!
@nishikku Wooo cats!!! 😺😺 makes any game better!!
@alxander Absolutely! The cat-screens were a last minute addition, and I would have loved for our artist to have as much time to make a pixel-art beautiful version like the menu - but we ran out of time
@risminator Yeah, it goes crazy at the end, thanks for playing!
@akusan Cheers man! Thanks for playing our stupid game!
@pattedecanaard Hahaha thank you! The graphics were often times the programmers throwing in random stuff and then our one artist trying to keep up replacing our placeholders with pixel art - in the end - he couldn't replace it all
@pres2300 The holy killdozer!!!! I made that!!! I love you hahaha thank you so much for appreciating our dumb game! The spikes are absolutely unclear, that is valid criticism! Next time we will do over and do right!
@trevor-lentz I also did the leaaaves!! Sorry about the options, they only work in the menu haha, I didn't have time to bugfix it! The volumes are tied to the "max of master" and it's also unintuitive. Your quote is word for word perfect I believe from memory!
@klemen Thank you so much!!!
@bjornstenlund The voices are always with me, I'm just introducing them to everyone else <3
@zablas Honestly we just threw the spritesheets together in photoshop and used the paper flipbook thingie, but we have a great artist leading the way in @isacb!
@hadik Thank you! Yeah the audio kind of goes too far, but I feel like that's almost part of the charm
@lancejz Sorry about the windowed shenanigans but then again you got to hear the B-theme which is one of my favorites - RISE OF THE CATMANCER HEYY, RISE OF THE CATMANCER HEYY
@utopia @lixiao Thank you so much for playing our game!
I loved that! Great voice acting! I felt like John Wick with a stapler.
Cute game, but I feel like the gameloop could definitely have been expanded upon, really liked the idea of chefs and your graphics were great
Such an amazing mood!
Wow! I can't believe you did all this in a weekend!
Cute :)
I loved this game! Love the "income engine" and thought it was super chill! More trees for the people!
Loved it!! Absolutely banger!
I LOVED the filter - this was really dope - medieval martial arts - who would've thunk it !
Your artstyle is the best so far - such a mood and I love the idea
I can tell that you didn't really have time to finish off the game, but the concept is 5/5.
Great game!
The randomization made the game a bit easy at times though, but great efforts (and great grade)
Beautiful - in all regards. Loved the game-loop <3
Loved the audio effects being part of the demon information, finished the game!
Overall great! I do think maybe the game could be a little bit tighter if you would lower the "wrong information" and just lower the timer a lot so that you got rewarded more for memorizing the correct information - but that's just a minor thought, overall it was a great entry!
AMAZING innovation with the drawing - loved that aspect Just wanted a lot more of it! Great music!
Had some bugs, but loved all in all
This is a 5 out of 5 from me - loved it! Screw Devin! Gave me Norm mcDonald vibes, perfection
Cool game!
My favorite so far! Love it! chazm.png
This is my favorite!!
Rukker were maybe a bit overpowered! [worm.PNG](///raw/384/43/z/6477a.png)
piano.png
Very cool game! Like many others I did feel like it would be really cool if I ended up playing a song instead of random sequences, but this was a great tech demo and really nice art!
Cute game! Bit short
So gorgeous, such an amazing artstyle and audio was lovely
I was very confused at first though, all of my stuff was going wrong because I had a hard time seeing the "cheese". Loved it though.
Berg!!
Cute game!
Very cute!
I loved the CRT effect! Crazy that you did this in your own engine, mad props!
Unfortunately my computer seems to destroy the .exe file once I reach 5 minutes in for not being an accepted program licensed by microsoft w/e - but I can see the work you've put in and commend you on your brilliant little game :D
Sooo good! Amazing little game!
I thought this was a fascinating game. I was a little bit confused about what was happening at first - but when I got it I loved it. I think you said it best with describing the game as contemplative.
dna.png I won game after game against the opponent with this distribution - I actually think the perception might be a disadvantage - the winning strategy seems to be to just flood the petri dish with as many splits as possible without getting distracted.
Game looks sick! Loved the in-depth tutorial, way to go the extra mile!
perfection.png
You're the clear winner. It's a 5/5 in all categories from me. I wanted more. I'd buy this. Please make this into a real game on steam.
@stalemeat Thank you so much for the praise! I spent way too much time on reinventing the concept of animation blueprints for a silly doom joke
@supersayafynn So glad to hear you enjoyed the game! The drunk driving truck is for sure one of my favorite late additions, a shame to hear that you suffered from it - but a vigilant chicken farmer must always be ready for ghost trucks!
If I remember the points correctly that must be A-tier or B-tier? That is an amazing score! I think that's sort of where my own record ended up - and I played a LOT of times to reach that score!
Also thanks for the sound effect praise 😊 it's 90% my own mouth
@joror Are you implying that my 2D programmer-art isn't as good as the 3d art from actual artists??
Jokes aside thanks for playing! The game gets insanely hard in the end - the throw instead of drag actually got in the last day, so I think the tutorial might be off, sorry bout that
Thanks for the praise for sound! I will gladly let that go to my head!
@nevercontent People weren't ready for the microwave oven either. Me and Björn are the new Steve Jobs of the fling-like genre.
So quiet down, Wozniak.
@bastelbasti Thank you <3 We had two amazing artists in @isacb and @daniel-c that really made some magic happen - I'm also incredibly jealous of their ability. I made the farmer-head and grade screen. As you can tell my art-skills are much more mortal.
@vladmirps Thank you! That means alot!
@heiden-bzr Oh wow! Thank you so much for those lovely words! I had a lot of fun making the music, especially when everyone else was setting up everything!
@noah-mazard Thank you!! 🐔
@pacelin @onabing will be over the moon to hear his tutorial being praised - truly one of those tasks that are sorely needed but not very fun to do!
Thank you for the lovely words - I was debating prioritizing putting the volumes in - but at the stage of making the options menu there were 150 sound assets that would need to be categorized into their separate BUS settings - and I didn't want to chance someone turning off my glorious music - so I instead wasted time on putting in way too many screen resolution options to make up for it.
@pacelin You're of course right, the smart thing to do is to implement it as one of your first things and just build new sounds upon the cornerstone of already in-place foundations.
@julesleech Thank you so much! The real assets were the friends we made along the way. And my sounds.
@beadyeyes That's alright, that's clearly the most vital feature of the game anyway.
@ryzhovalex Yes sorry the brown one is the rooster and the egg is mostly actually to get you unstuck if you mess up
Thank you for the lovely words - there's way too little management games in my opinion!
@komarebi Thank you for the lovely words - we were definitely up against the clock with this one and it's a very hard game in the end. Thanks for playing!
@hexstart My fling-like sibling! I fully agree that the game becomes so dang hard in the end that there's barely any time to think about anything except "oh shit oh shit oh shit". Right now the "needs" of the chickens degrade faster and faster with the difficulty - which increases every 45 seconds - and honestly maybe the game becomes hard enough even without chickens dying unsupervised in 5 seconds just because you played for seven minutes, but we were up against the clock and didn't test enough!
Thank you for playing and the lovely feedback!
@tetracold Honestly I made the game and I can't get higher than a B, I think it's just a bit unbalanced. A C-tier is a great score and probably more like a B+ at worst.
When you say that they ran off-screen do you mean that they moved to a place where you couldn't reach them even if you moved the camera? I don't think we're too transparent with the fact that we have quite a lot of camera movement freedom. But if you did reach C-tier - it's also possible that the chickens just became so dang fast. Their speed scale with the difficulty quite a lot.
Thank you so much for the feedback and thank you for finally calling out my stupid doom-joke 👌 I put waaaay too much time into that piece of code.
@tetracold That's certainly not your fault - we never mention it anywhere - the tutorial was made midway through and never updated because there was always other areas to work on!
I definitely believe you could achieve the B-Tier easily with that bit of info!
@eerongal I agree with you about the chicken meters - it's actually tied to the timer - so after a few minutes it becomes almost impossible. I think the game would be way more awesome with a day of just polish and balance. Thank you for your kind words <3
@ziobob A c aint much but its an honest score!
Good job and thank you for the lovely words <3
@serenewind We definitely suffer from a bit of feature overscope - as you say - it is definitely a bit unclear your first round and the tutorial was made too early and didn't fully reflect everything. There is of course also a ton of different visual polish we needed to add. With one day more the game would've been great - ( but isn't that every game jam? )
@budaniel Yes, you're absolutely right. I loved B&W growing up, and it's probably no coincidence that the game reminds you of it. The main difficulty of the game is definitely that the chickens become almost impossible to keep alive after 5~ or so minutes, and we needed a balance pass - but thank you for the lovely words!
@ember44 I agree with everything you said - and it's something we also said in our internal post-mortem afterwards. It's the classic issue when you have an eager team that loves to add cool funny features up until the last second where you end up with a game that's great fun once you figure out what is even happening!
Thank you for the lovely review!
@nazariglez Thank you so much!! I think we're just looking forward to bringing the teachings into LD57 and call this one a nice little project that turned out pretty good with room for improvement next time - we had a great time, but I think the little project is done and I think it kind of goes against the game jam spirit to go back and change it retroactively after the bell has already rung imo, not that I think less of people who want to make their games into the best games they can be
@ember44 Haha yes I ageee! Next time for sure!
@ryusui Thank you for the feedback!
We did dabble in having the gauges be visible at all times - but at a certain point it felt a bit overwhelming for the player. I think the best option would maybe be to have it be "toggle-able" in the options - but we simply ran out of time for those quality of life things.
Personally I really like the flinging - but it obviously transforms the game into a "flinging-game" more than an actual management game - so it might be a matter of preference. You might be right in that a bit of a makeover of the game balance and features would result in a better game - but there's just so many hours in three days and we definitely worked up until the last minute.
@zeias Thank you so much for your lovely review! That warms our cold chicken-frying hearts.
@rohun Thank you so much for that lovely feedback! I fully agree with the game only making a lot of sense once you've played it - and it's the fault of us not doing a proper enough tutorial I think - and don't feel bad about losing your chickens - it's 100% part of the game loop!
@byshla Thank you!! What lovely words! Wow! <3
@dangitspang Thank you so much! If you enjoyed the rating system with the music you can feel free to play our previous entry "Rise of the Catmancer" from April which introduced the beloved feature that we also love internally in our little group :D
Thanks for the lovely feedback! Look forward to have you play our future games!!!
@literato-games Thank you!
@zhu-guangle Wow! Thank you :D
winner.png
Such a well deserved win. I feel like I was playing one of the historical greats when the first smart-phone apps came out. Pure dopamine hack.
I thoroughly enjoyed the north star powerup.
This was so damn good!! I'll give you 5/5 across the board - I loved this. WELL DONE!
Damn that was amazing! 5/5! No notes!
That was absolutely great. So cute art. Mood was for sure 5/5. Wish the music was a little less repetitive.
This game was so cool! I love love loved the idea! Really want to play a real thing of this.
I just wish the AI was better - it never felt like I was in any danger of losing.
"Frooog. I'm a frog that helps you jump hIGH!"
This sound will haunt me from now on. What a great little game, great work!
Cute little game - I love dorfromantik and you nailed the feeling.
Wish there was a high-score or gameover-condition or something, but I liked it a lot.
Great and powerful game.
Made me feel like listening to Mount Eerie again. Feels sad man.
This was such a sick game - it's a 5/5 from me - loved it. I would pay for an extended version of this!
I thought it was really cool!
I would love for there to be more of a "you can only unlock the next track if you reach an average 10th place for each racer" or something, but what was there was brilliant.
It's obviously a 5/5 for mood - the game is also beautiful and sounds beautiful. Maybe there could be some more "gamey" elements - to flesh it out to have more of a game state - but you definitely achieved a nice little time that transported you to another world. Nice game :)
So good!!
Really cute game - I really loved the meme you posted. I had some issues "dropping the box" and I think your game could really use a "restart on R" hotkey - but that's just small things, great game for the jam.
ace.png Did it! With only an ace in the hole!
Such amazing animation! And the whole chess-theming was great - especially for telegraphing enemy movement and HP bar. Honestly, the game isn't very long but the time it lasts is so polished and nice that I can't not give you 5/5. Reminded me of castle crashers in a great way.
Holy holy holy shit. I did it.
I give you 5 / 5 in everything, I honestly dont care. What a blast.
screenshothihi.png
@thomas-higgins Hahaha well worth the insanity it almost caused me to make them!
@noodlehoof Thank you!
@slow-chaz Thank you so much for playing our game! Here, have two health packs for the road: [ :heart: ] [ :heart: ]
@vangrail Hooray! Super glad you enjoyed our game!
@beebster-games Sorry to hear it, yeah UE5 is a power sucker.
@profugo-barbatus Dang!! Thank you so much for those kind words! Happy you loved my deep thought generator!! It took over 10 hours to make with everything that went into it!
@mamboman Thank you!
when im in a "ramble like a dumb nerd about laser pointers competition" and my next opponent is @bjornstenlund images(1).jpg
@bjornstenlund :heart:
@ssakuray Thank you kindly!
@genesis That's a shame to hear, hope you had some fun anyway
@broco One must embrace madness and burn it as fuel on your journey for truth. Pot and beer will merely guide you.
@karenchik Wow! Thank you! I think you can probably get an S if you keep going, I believe in you!
@scoobysnacks I'm so happy everyone seem to be enjoying them haha I thought I was going insane myself for a bit there
@kamuniaft Yes, the gameplay can feel a bit clumsy, I kind of agree, but you should have seen it before haha, our own @bjornstenlund made it feel ten times as good as its first iteration
@hernandack Thank you! We wanted to do a unique take on the theme!
@ezard94 Wooho! Glad you loved the conspiracies! I do too!
@anderson-job-loeffler Thank you!!
@mestrerothld We accidentally set a value wrong and spawned a gajillion geometric shapes in a row instead of say "four" haha
@pppppppp A trade! This sounds perfect for my minion @bjornstenlund as I'm currently in Japan on a phone network desperately updating my own gamepage for new comments.
I SEND THEE.
@gamurmakesgems Woo! Thanks for that! Yes, the music is a little cool system that I keep remaking whenever we make a game!
Essentially you have a couple of random arrays of instrument stings that all go together - and then you just have level one play one instrument randomly looping its segments and adding another instrument on top for each level. It's so much bang for the buck, honestly!
@jormundly It's a hard game and / or we all kind of suck at it aswell. I reached S-tier once out of lots of attempts.
@on100ruykajop Oops haha - but also part of the trip, no?
@xpoho Thank you for the magnificient compliment, we aim to please
@surweaver Thank you for the lovely comment!
I agree that the gameplay becomes a little bit muddy when the game throws everything at you, but then again, there's kind of where our difficulty lies, haha
@floppynub "[Did you know that] [I once read on a mongolian fabric forum that] [Carl Sagan] [Always used to rant that] [the Spotify Shuffle Algorithm was actually made by the NSA to measure global mood loops?]"
Thank you for the lovely review and best of luck in your stoner mission!
@braeden Yes I would kind of agree haha, turns out making a dropper game is kind of hard. It really does work in first person, but then we wouldn't have the funny green-haired dude which is ultimately just a prize too high to pay
@silkworm-sweatshop Haha yes they are actually modular so they're built up in [Intro] + (50% chance)([Pre-Character-Sentence] + [Character] + [Post-Character-Sentence])([Pre-Writing-Sentence] + [Writing] + [Post-Writing-sentence])) + [Argument] + ([Therefore] + (50% chance)([Pre-Character-Sentence] + [Character] + [Post-Character-Sentence])([Pre-Writing-Sentence] + [Writing] + [Post-Writing-sentence])) + [Argument])x[how-many-extra-paragraphs-you-want]
I then had to break this down to a binary format and parse it through a meta sound file where it plays about 30 minutes of my voice acting. I think the vast majority of our filesize is just my crazed late night rambling
@guitarbro Open your eyes to the truth, bro, it aint theories, them's facts.
That being said, super-valid criticism
@empyreans Right on, brother, you've seen the light, welcome to Nirvana and the REAL world Neo.
Thank you so much for that lovely review!
@knarf Thank you so much for your lovely review! I love that you cracked how we did the deep truth system haha, it's definitely the one system that has the most potential for the [Unnecessary-Black-Hole-Of-A-Development-Time-Sink] haha!
Cool that you liked the trippy music too! That's also on me messing around with side-quests before we even had a game loop lol
I absolutely agree that if we had more time some more bonuses would have been super cool, but as for the difficulty I think we made it somewhat hard on purpose to have you play more short runs rather than one long round
@deadroach Haha thanks again for playing! The critique is super-valid, and you were definitely not terrible getting an S and everything!
@joror Right on, man. Your eyes are open.
@outstar Hahaha, thank you! Good luck with those pesky toe nails!
@antoine-bodin Thank you!!
Noooo! You can't end me on a cliffhanger haha! I want to know about The Hollow!!
Great job, I can't believe how much writing you must have done haha! Solid game!
Really cool game. Made me yell out of rage. Several times. In a good way. The best way.
@nomelu So the slow update for the shop is a shame and it has to do with the way we wanted to slow down time when you entered the shop - which unfortunately caused some of the updates to be CPU-dependant which is a shame. Classic jam-mistake. Essentially the delta-time has become 0.01 Maybe the children didnt use delta-time, which is also a mistake, but the timer and hunger + what not is at least not ticking
Yes the conversion of candies were deemed a good to have at the last day - but we didnt quite have time to polish that input - I agree that holding would have been a super nice thing to have!
And about your F-tier - that's so sad to hear, and actually it may have to do with you buying every upgrade, the score is a bit unfair like that because its calculated with every bit of candy you have when the game ends. If you used the conversion to turn all your candy to buying upgrades - you likely used up all the candy and ended up with a lower score. That's obviously not fun especially since we don't tell the player.
If we had another day I wish I could act on all your feedback <3 this was a great comment! Thank you for playing our game and I hope you had a good time anyway! If its any consolation, I think the F-tier image is my favorite piece of graphics that I made in the game!
@adam-konig Thank you! Yes, we unfortunately didn't explain score vs upgrades too well, but essentially the best player in the world could end up with F if they spend it all
@someone It's almost like one of the programmers stressfully threw together 36 unique icons for the upgrades haha Absolutely fair take
@mahalis Thank you so much!! And thank you for reading the Candypedia! We had a backend system-programmer who hadn't worked too much in Unreal and he worked on everything he could, like json databases of candy, until he in the end dove headfirst in!
@kayrum Thank you for the lovely feedback!
@sergs-workshop Yes it's not obvious that you have to leave the shop physically, but anyone complimenting my soundwork makes my heart soar anyway!
@arwen-sylveck Thank you!! Yes, honestly I think it's probably close to 200 man and woman work hours!
@kaba Thank you so much, I did my absolute hardest making that music and system for it!
This is my favorite game of any Ludum Dare. I was completely hooked. Would buy for real. 5/5 in all categories. Loved it.
Really really cool game idea - this was a sick jam idea
I just wish there were some upgrades or such to really tighten the game loop - I imagine what you could have made with one more day of jamming. Really really sick.
This was amazing! What a game! Great in all regards!
Super lovely game!
Very cute game! Nicely scoped! Great theming!
Cute and minimalistic
YES.png
I will say this in the nicest way possible - FK this little gremlin -
What an amazing game - took me three tries - and I was EXTREMELY invested. Great grades all around!
Okay dude. Let's walk this through.
At first - art, mood and audio had me gripped immediately. The first battle - I was incredibly confused and didn't understand who I was playing as or what I was doing. As soon as I got it - the gameplay became very nice as well.
I definitely thought the atmosphere was the heavy carrier of this game - and I didn't get the humor or theming - up until I got the ending.
Ending? Masterpiece.
5 / 5 in all categories.
@awalone Thank you for playing and calling us HD haha - we are unfortunately not Catmitts - but I can say from the bottom of my heart that I wish I were.
@kseniya I love that so much, thank you <3
@universeflow Thank you! We lost our usual 3d artist friends this year - so our very creative programmer had to step in with his trusty pen, pad and scanner!
@bambutcher Hahaha you might have a point there!
@theg I actually 100% agree with that assessment - I think with one day of just tightening the game loop we'd probably have killed it - but that's the jam-life
@profugo-barbatus Oh my god thank you hahaha - and yes - this is the same ramblings of a mad man - but this time I put way too many hours into the radio instead of the deep truths
@eeva Hahaha thank you! SPACE PAWN, SPACE SHOP!
@axlplosion Oh we definitely aim to please on that front hahaha - thrilled to hear it
@conduit Oh thank you so kindly, it feels great to know that my spazzing with a guitar into the mic and wasting 12 hours into the radio feature wasn't wasted hahaha - the graphic style actually came from a decision where our 3d artists couldn't make it this time - so one of our programmers just brought out pens and paper and scanned it all in!
@apt-prose7 Well said man, haha - hopefully we left you relaxed
@VenomousMouse Thank you for that lovely comment!
@ionhaven Hahaha thank you! Super-polished we might not be - but handmade and charming we certainly got in spades!
@cptnero Thank you!
@mr-relanium Thank you!! So happy you liked it!
@zhangzhimu Haha thank you also! We definitely tried to stretch the word signal into different ways! Glad you liked it!
@tomssuli Thank you enjoying my soundtrack!
I cant speak for the Kalevala hat, but my artist no doubt might have inspired by the great and mighty Finns as they are our neighbours to the east!
The gameplay I agree could become a little bit frustrating and there's a ton of little rules with the alien races that may not have been as well described as possible - such as the snails just lying, and snakemen always wanting fair-trade and plastic - even when they say the opposite. If we had more time, maybe we'd be able to get that across better and just ban them from asking the things that their ruleset overrid anyway.
Thanks for enjoying!
@alexandr-gerya Haha yes, you figured them out!
@alex-o Thank you kindly!
Did not expect the ending! Fun game!
Really cool idea! Loved it!
This was a very cute game - but there seems to be one single solution for all the levels
This was my favorite game! Very satisfying loop!
There seemed to be some sort of lagspike when reaching the end of day 3 - it seemed to me to be the bullets from the "big bullet gun" that maybe didnt despawn when going off screen - because suddenly the game became very laggy - but other than that - almost 5/5 in everything from me!
Very cool game! Great theming!
Amazing! This was so tense!
You absolutely killed the mood part - this was crazy. Very human.
Very cool graphics! I like the way you implemented the theme!
Wow! That was incredible!
