LD49 — Unstable

Puzzled Love by Yaroslav Kravtsov 2021-10-07T07:15:05Z

Great game. The story was simple but immersive, I was able to connect to the characters quickly and really felt bad that it didn't work out for them in the end. You could see them both struggling.

At first glance, it is just a puzzle, but there is much more to it. I like the fact that the shapes and sharpness of the pieces reflect the mood of the picture. Every time a new puzzle dropped I had a quick look at what they present and I was like "oh no, they are going to fight". I thought it would be great if a player had more decisions on how the story goes, by introducing puzzle pieces with a different drawing on them that changes the story, but I realize that would increase the production time tenfold with all the branches in the narrative.

The theme is not in your face, but it is there. The instability of their relationship is delivered in their small remarks and behaviour. I like that.

Overall great job, one of the best games I played in LD49

Wreckmate by posho 2021-10-07T07:47:15Z

I feel like you have very few options to play the game. You can do nothing wrong and still get locked between an enemy and the edge of a ship and just wait to die, because a treasure chest or another package dropped from the sky. Inability to jump makes game even more difficult.

I assume the anchors were suppose to put weight to either side of the ship to prevent toppling. Cannons were suppose to shoot enemies, although if an enemy is between you and the cannon, then it will shot you out of the ship. Couldn't figure out what Lightning does.

Overall I like the idea of running around the ship, pushing and placing counterweight, but the execution this time wasn't there. At least art is good and funny and music accompany everything pretty well.

Hey guys! Great work, really well finished. I loved the simple idea and crisp pixel art.

Deathrail by Hotowlgirls 2021-10-09T18:38:50Z

FUN FUN FUN I loved the quick restart after you dropped off the rail because, oh boy, I dropped a lot. Loved the music and the well executed simplicity. I hoped a bit for more after Journal #3 but I guess that's the end.

Plundering Boy by HaaYaargh 2021-10-06T19:39:19Z

@yaroslav-kravtsov and we foolishly opted-out from Audio category because we had one CreativeCommon song and I felt like that should exclude us (according to guidelines) ;(

Plundering Boy by HaaYaargh 2021-10-06T19:40:15Z

@yaroslav-kravtsov @wyl-team thanks for kind words! It was our first LD jam, but already can't wait for the next one!

Plundering Boy by HaaYaargh 2021-10-06T19:58:43Z

@kobrasadetin I opted out because we had one song and ambient from the net (CC) and we read guidelines and didn't know better. Next jam we will go full original audio! I have half year to learn an instrument :guitar:

Plundering Boy by HaaYaargh 2021-10-17T17:50:26Z

Prefabricated Highrise by belickim 2021-10-06T07:40:40Z

Well done lads. Although I bit too fast & hard for my taste I liked the idea and the execution. Brings back memories of my Polish childhood 🏬

Cargo Frog by Kobrasadetin 2021-10-06T20:11:14Z

Loading part feels a bit time limited on the 4th or 5th try, but otherwise great. Theme perfectly in both stages of the game!

Wurst Angst Apple Joy by Alexej 2021-10-09T18:15:12Z

As other had said, good concept. I found it difficult to read all the unformatted text and while I understood the mechanics of sad/happy personality I rarely did change on purpose to achieve some of the talks.

Tick Away by jackiex9527 2021-10-09T18:25:43Z

Mood, music and graphics all work together very well. The short story was intriguing at the beginning, but because I had to focus on the bomb I missed what the text was saying during walking stage. Mini game and the end was adequate, although I was rather disappointed by its simplicity. All in all I like it.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Riposte by pickens-inc 2022-04-12T19:29:41Z

Hello! I played your submission on my [HaaYaargh](https://www.twitch.tv/haayaargh) stream the other day.

I heard that the creator had only one day to make this, that's why it doesn't have a lot of content, but I found a lot of fun playing it. Entry level is quite high, but once you get a feel on when to do the riposte it becomes a very fast, very smooth simple reflex based game. Restarting is super fast which is a great thing for this kind of game were you die very often. Visuals, audio and colour theme compliments each other greatly.

Definitely not a great contender in theme category, but it was engaging, replayable fun :crossed_swords:

Hello! I played your submission on my [HaaYaargh](https://www.twitch.tv/haayaargh) stream the other day and oh boy.

I don't know if I played badly or if the game is murderously difficult, but I couldn't finish it on stream. After some time I started getting the hang of it and I found it is a very compelling game, with a lot of buildings, lots of content, and a fast tempo. Interesting premise of the rotating world and the night that consumes all. The building's models looked neat.

There are some questionable decisions there, like having to click collect so many times and not being able to choose which resource to focus on. Some particles are too big, and buildings lack radiuses. Combining lore trivia with a fast-paced game made me skip most of the text so I don't get distracted from my goal that was slipping away. But that's what feedback is for. But in general, this one is one of the best strategy/RTS games I found this year on LD.

Well done! :space_invader: :night_with_stars:

Orbles by Rongo Matane 2022-04-05T16:19:47Z

At first, I was a bit lost as to where to look for what. The least intuitive for me was the road system, but I had to pay a bit more attention and to just throw away my previous experience with this kind of games where more buildings = faster production and plan differently. I liked that.

The art is a strong suit here. Putting those AoT like creepy monsters next to those cute villagers made me want to protect their potato heads even more (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)و

Overall I'm very impressed with this game. One of my favorites this season.

How it Ended by dxk2294 2022-04-07T14:36:18Z

Pretty good. Those kind of games are my cup of tea.

There was some trial and error here and there, like until now I don't if (- money) from an event will be deduced from cash or my income, for one month or forever, or if (-1 clock) per three years will reduce it each time for 3 years, because it didn't seems like it? But as for UI heavy games that's not a lot of misunderstanding, everything else is pretty clear, soo good job there. The game is difficult which makes the inevitability the theme fitting.

What I found slightly disappointing that accumulating green leaves or decommissioning coal doesn't really do anything good? Unless events are based on their numbers, then it okay. Probably would be cool to know that so I can change and plan my moves accordingly. Also, is that a bug that deleting a building will permanently remove "staff" at some places I had one building but 0/8 staff because I decommissioned coal plants.

Honestly I would love to see this game without the inevitable theme. Where I would be able to chill and build stuff in peace around the planet and restore Earth. Current version perfectly fits the theme, but it is so depressing :(

Anyway, I hope I didn't come off too harsh, it was great a experience! :earth_asia: :earth_africa: :earth_americas:

The Lars Mission by Honest Dan 2022-04-12T21:01:08Z

@elysiagriffin :tada: :medal: :confetti_ball:

I tried to rescue Lars and his fellow researchers on my [HaaYaargh](https://www.twitch.tv/haayaargh) stream the other day.

Beginnings were difficult because there was a lot to learn. The tutorial page was helpful but didn't feel like I have enough time to read all of that carefully once I was in the game. After the first fail things become more clear and I began to have more fun hastily walking around doing various tasks.

Mini-games were on point and varied in difficulty and time necessary to complete them. Typing commands and rocket aiming jobs were most unique for me, if it was co-op, I would be on typing and aiming duty constantly! :) Slider thing was a nice simple touch. Refueling was most underwhelmed as it didn't even have a mini-game like water pumping, despite both being liquids of some sort.

The visuals and sounds were great. The sounds were very funny, especially cutting vines. I can tell you all had a lot of fun making these.

I would prefer a more top-down view, not entirely from top, but a slightly higher camera, because sometimes equipment obscured my vision. Visual language telling me something is about to break up wasn't clear for some time to me, later I learnt that it has blue and red/orange alarm, but in a general nervous atmosphere, it was easy to overlook. Sometimes plants visually looked like they are ready to be chopped or at least pruned a little, but you couldn't do any preventive work on them before they grow large enough.

Overall, great game (even though I had so many complaints above). Definitely co-op potential if you ever decide to continue the project. I will keep my fingers crossed for that :fingers_crossed:

Ydunian Prune by MateusBoga 2022-04-12T23:38:27Z

Incremental (but not so much clickers) are my cup of tea so I enjoyed this one. As many before mentioned, being able to have x10 or x100 clicks would be great. What I would see is an ability to see detailed tooltips, I know this is a mix of a clicker and a short narrative, so exact multipliers are not that much important, nonetheless, it would be great to know what to click to get fruits most efficiently. As for the army, on the first run, a second after I got an army interface, I was attacked without being able to do anything and lost, so I think there either should be a warning on the upcoming attack or some delay after the army is unlocked. I don't think the theme is particularly strong in this game.

I won't go into detail on pixel art as it is simply superb.

Eventually, I managed to get a True Ending, so I'm pretty happy with it. Great job overall :apple:

Hairless Soon by Beebo Studios 2022-04-19T13:59:55Z

Very unique idea. I wished there was more behind the lice village because it is soo good. It looked like it could be from a lice city builder game. If you are planning that, let me know, and I will play! Visuals and animations are great, good pixel art is always welcomed.

I was having a hard time knowing where I plant normal hair, especially without clear boundaries of a "farming area". I was running around right-clicking hoping that it catches on, sometimes only after a third click on the same spot, it finally planted something.

I didn't feel the theme during the gameplay. I assume the inevitability is that of baldness? There was a growing bald patch in the middle our the head, but I could very well plant around it, didn't know what will happen on the 10th day, how much I need, etc.

Overall, nice job! :ant: :ant: :ant:

Different Strokes by Scott Steffes 2022-04-06T22:59:17Z

I played your game on stream today and it was different kind of experience from other games. I'll be surprised if it won't be high on innovative! Playing it on stream made me kind of rush things, but I will definitely come back to draw something else.

I drew a pirate with a parrot and a lizard on a hat. Can't find it now. If found, please report it! :(

Apocalyptic Romance by Shakedimus 2022-04-12T21:56:44Z

It was an absurdly abstract kind of experience when I streamed this game xD

Who would guess that taking a poo on the street :poop:, picking plants :herb: and getting new shoes :athletic_shoe: are the best things you can do to avoid creeps and feelings of guilt. It was an enjoyable experience despite its simplicity. I like when creators go crazy with their games

Faces of the Beast by stamestratagem 2022-04-06T22:38:51Z

I played your game on stream today. It was really fun. Fast fun. The faces were really cool. It was great to spot some actors, historical figures and especially meme characters. As we talked, it would fare well on mobiles but I understand it takes a bit more time :) Good job!

noproblem mrsnowman.png

(I don't think you should be thanking me)

Simple but very innovative indeed. I felt the theme with my heart there, I wanted to run somewhere, to find the water, find the ice, but I was never too fast and had to go back to shade Mr. Snowman, I felt hopeless.

At least he was able to fulfil his dream to see :camel: :dromedary_camel: :camel: :dromedary_camel:

There was a point just before sunrise and sunset, where there is no shade yet, the map is dark, but Mr. Snowman is already melting. I think that was a bug, or at least wasn't very clear what is that. Also, before the sunset, player is naturally behind Mr. Snowman to keep the parasol there, but we can't see what he is saying, because the speech bubble doesn't rotate to player and is invisible from the "back".

Heal me, please! by Andrey_Zhukov 2022-04-19T14:23:14Z

Your game has a clear and simple concept and is well executed. It was clear from the beginning what I have to do, and in UI-heavy games, it isn't always obvious. I didn't understand everything; I don't know what this 5/5 or 8/8 meant? It is like health and reputation? It never dropped below 4/5.

I didn't feel the theme there, to be honest. Narratively you could say that they are sick so you delay their inevitable death, but there is nothing like this in the gameplay.

I can see a lot of potential there, given some upgrades and further development, so if this is what you want, then fingers crossed :fingers_crossed:

I'm on a boat - Anxiety Simulator by Sopata 2022-04-06T23:11:14Z

Hi @sopata I played your game on the stream today and it was great experience. I don't think it was fun because it was supposed to make me sweaty and pressured and it did. I liked sinking boat concept, liked characters (somehow the BigGuy™ resonated with me more), humorous approach and overall experience.

That game is definitely something you should be playing in local co-op, unless you are like ambidextrous or have galactic brain. For things that messed up my experience was definitely collision problems, perhaps accepted range of enabling activates and being able to start action when it was already too late. But that's nothing that can't be adjusted.

At the end, my ship might have sunk, but my heart will go on :notes:

Battery Low by Milestone Games 2022-04-12T20:02:44Z

Hello! I played your submission on my [HaaYaargh](https://www.twitch.tv/haayaargh) stream the other day.

Beautiful Pixel Art entry. The rover Rovar looks like it has its own personality, a bit of Wall-E vibe, definitely wouldn’t allow myself to let him run out of batter on Mars. The whole game looks visually pleasing, maybe the scanner and text could have been more clear, but overall one of the strongest points of your game. It was fun to discover those scientific artifacts on Mars like a scooter, Maneki-Neko, or a Maoi statue.

It was cool to read from the Devs on the stream’s chat that I “discovered” a new path. Later on, I tried a couple of different pathing, some of them worked, some of them didn’t. The game remembers your previous tracks, so it definitely puts it in more puzzle genre rather than an arcade one. That’s why I think the counting time at the end was a bit unnecessary, but you know, it doesn’t matter that much to me.

I think the game has a great potential to be expanded into a full-fledged project. If that’s what you want to do, then fingers crossed :fingers_crossed: :alien: :robot:

DeePenguin Boreal Offensive by Bruyère Alice 2022-04-06T22:43:16Z

Fun visuals and setting for a tower defence with throwing pop-sickles. Couple lovable characters like the Penguin Chad, and Dee Penguin. Unfortunately game is heavily unbalanced in favour of the player. After 5 minutes of game you can't lose. Balance is not something unfixable, so don't feel discouraged. Good job :lollipop:

Rifthoppers by Kimberly 2022-04-06T22:51:32Z

I played your game on stream today, and after couple initial early deaths I got the grasp of what is going on. I had some issues with not being able to click fast because that would auto buy Power Ups when they popped out, which could be mitigated by just holding LMB, but then you walk slowly so

Overall pretty great. Music was spot on with a fast paced tempo of the game. There are definitely couple of ways to build your character, surely some are better than others, but there is fun choosing your build. Some are more risky, some more safe, some straight will almost kill you, but that's good thing. You learn the game, take risk, die fast and try again. Great job :muscle:

Volcano by ABRDs 2022-04-12T22:11:03Z

Itadakimasu Volcano-chan!

Fun idea, it was cool to run around and gather all the trees, carts and marbles from the plaza, and later going outside for big rocks and more trees. I didn't really feel the theme there as the game was pretty lenient with Volcano-chan getting angry, especially when there was no ticking anything or a progression bar. But perhaps that's why it was so cute? :volcano:

Super Mowser Bros by Guilloteam 2022-04-19T13:22:36Z

There could never be enough praise for the art. The splendid job there. Please compliment the chef for me. It might be stupid, but I always laugh at slightly changed copyrighted names, like Bario and princess Cheap, I hope I can play it on my Bintendo Glitch console.

I won't be going into details on the pre-jam version, because it looks like you addressed some of the issues raised in the previous comments.

What I don't like is drag&dropping things, especially when I'm building something on the right side. I would consider having the unit resources be put somewhere universally close, like top or bottom, so when time is pressing I don't have to move from left to right many times when I'm building my castle. From UI, I had also a hard time following Bario progress on previous maps, so I had to click all the time.

I haven't managed to understand things like what strength Bario has vs Goombas or Spiky Turtles, whether he will die or will storm through the obstacles without a sweat. Knowledge like this would help me to plan better, whether to speed up the next Tower building or could I invest in the economy on the next level. Your game has some strategic decision-making, but without crucial information like this, it is difficult to choose the right option.

The theme, in my opinion, is not very visible right now. I don't feel like I'm delaying the inevitable, I'm kind of just playing the game until I lost.

Overall great game :mushroom: :mushroom: :turtle: :japanese_castle: :mushroom: :mushroom:

You Are A Bomb by Benjamin Halko 2022-04-12T21:53:02Z

I'm not very good at fast games like this, but I felt the inevitability of my end all the time. The gameplay is fast, smooth, and easily understandable, although there is still a space for some decision-making as to which bombs are not worth picking up. Well done :bomb:

Witch's End by Roikku 2022-04-06T23:49:43Z

I played your game on the stream with almost a success at the end. Managed almost to get to the end of the world with a defensive build. The inspiration from Vampire Survivors is clear but it was a good shoot and the genre (can we already can it genre?) and I had a lot of fun because of the setting and the tempo. There are definitely more than one build to try, so it encourages trying again, enough times for a jam game. Playing Witch's End you need to pay attention because it is not so hard to die, which happened to me when I was a bit distracted.

We discussed a bit about what I like and dislike and future plans, so I will just mention that movement was something I had to get use to, especially when both movement and "attacks" are on the same button.

But overall, a great game :book:

PS: My favourite witch waifu was a blonde :)

Definitely not Titanic by Charles Viau 2022-04-12T21:44:13Z

Hello! I played your submission on my [HaaYaargh](https://www.twitch.tv/haayaargh) stream the other day.

Cut-scene at the beginning and ending masterfully set the mood for the rest of the game. Gameplay is simple but engaging. I would give the level a pass on staircase visibility because at the beginning it was difficult to guess where is the exit, I tried many times to run over the stair-looking part of the ship on the top deck. Given more time I would also allow the player to explore rooms, or place more obstacles on the floors so they don't look as empty.

I've been lucky enough to find the hammer, but unlucky enough for the hammer to spawn on a floor that didn't have any holes in it, so it ran out before I could get on another floor. Need to pray to RNGesus more  Delaying lasts seconds kept me on my toes, I could get as low as 1 second, but lucky streaks of barrels and holes awarded me 15 more, and then it started ticking back. Thrilling.

The audio was 10 out of 5, which made running back and forth hella enjoyable.

Overall great & fun job :ship: :hole: :hammer_pick:

PS; now looking at the game, cut-scenes and audio I think it actually might have been a Titanic

Cards of the Cosmos by popesp 2022-04-06T23:23:11Z

I played your game on my stream today and I managed to beat the infinity. Thanks for the suggestion that you actually can do it, it was rewarding to find a way for that. This was actually a kind of scary way to delay the inevitable. Perhaps it would be better to die than to wait for eternity for the opponent never finish. It was a really clever ending!

In the card game itself I like that it was just that. A card game, like e.g. MTG. I found art on cards to be very fitting into the Cosmos theme. The only thing that confused me at the beginning was the concept of "energy", might as well be "add one more move to a turn" or something similar.

Overall, great job! :black_joker:

The Assessment by Okamit 2022-04-06T23:32:03Z

Thanks, now I hate sushi! :sushi:

I played your game on my stream today and found it cute and engaging. Quickly changing games I didn't have time to get good at kept me on my toes. I was just praying not sushi, not sushi. At some point theme went to the side for a while, but I didn't mind. Enjoyed the humour and sound effects together with unique visuals. Laster on I spotted Fresh Lady in the Art Gallery game. Cool find :)

Also I love how you made the game on itch.io page seamlessly merge with the store page background image. Overall great job and keep it Fresh! :rocket:

The Hero (...Always Wins) by Link270 2022-04-06T23:39:09Z

Hi! I played your game on my stream today so some things were already discussed. Most issues I had can be connected to poor communication. But that's is something that is hard to gauge without playtesting from other, and that's where all the people come for :)

After trial and error at some point I understood the game a bit. I liked different towers and buildings and how they work. Rarely you can see towers that send units across whole map. Probably with some time and trying different builds I would be able to stop level 4 hero. A nice surprise for me was a long map, that's something new for me in the genre.

The humorous switch from hero to villain was a nice touch. The hero can't be hated even if he makes me lose the game, not with that quips and HUZZZAAAH :)

Overall good job! :european_castle:

Gods of Divine Stuff: RAgnarök by Anaxie Studio 2022-04-06T22:33:54Z

RIITA by wobs 2022-04-12T19:11:13Z

Hello! I played your submission on my [HaaYaargh](https://www.twitch.tv/haayaargh) stream the other day.

I very much enjoyed the Finnish folklore setting. It is a huge plus in my book when someone incorporates architecture, clothing, instruments, music, lore, or customs from their country or region in their game. It just feels fresh, unique, or simply different, and you always learn a thing or two. Like I learnt what a [Kantele](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kantele) is.

The visuals are very cute, the hooded characters looked lovely and the two main bards were quite distinct and fit to their sun/moon domain respectively. It is a shame you can't zoom in when you are in the village view or don't really have time to enjoy the view because the sun/moon are going down. I guess the theme had to have an impact somewhere.

There was a good variety of melodies to play, although it would be super nice to have a chance to choose the songs you want to play. But perhaps otherwise I wouldn't leave the swamp. Also, I was hoping for Ievan Polkka :) Fingers crossed it will arrive in the next DLC!

Great game overall. Congratulations and I hope to see you next time :notes: :guitar: :flag_fi:

For people looking for a quite different experience, I recommend holding your keyboard like this while playing. WIN_20220412_20_51_48_Proq.jpg

Carrot Grove by Ehon 2022-04-12T22:48:17Z

Top-quality waifus and husbandos :purple_heart: I really wish I had limited edition Marzanna figurine

Great to see a game that uses Ren'Py, I used to play around with it some years ago, but it was always a lack of art that didn't allow me to progress further.

The story is light and fun, doesn't get boring or cringe at all. It was unique to see Slavic settings (I'm from Poland as well!). All characters are quite interesting although their quality and art style varies. You had so many artists that it is understandable, but I think it is nice that you get to make a game with so many people, you seem like a group of friends.

Unfortunately, I got BAD ending on my first try, but at least I have a Save before the ritual, so I hope for the best. Good luck with your future endeavours!

I was Reincarnated as a Middle Aged Dad Protecting his Son's Sand Castle by mcmuniz 2022-04-16T13:30:57Z

Good attempt as for your first game, congratulation on joining Ludum Dare! I like the Light Novel/Anime vibe in the title  I think your idea for the game fits the theme nicely. I also have memories of trying to build walls that were constantly being washed away by waves, it was fun back then :)

I managed to finish it but I've encountered a couple of bugs mostly with the disappearing progress bar, because of that it wasn't always clear if I'm doing something or not. Clarity is something to work on; I was never sure which wall will crumble on the next wave. When is the next wave coming? Is small trash fish lower risk than a trash can?

Personally, I think the game would become more lively if you speed up the character, and lowered the time on sand gathering, like in an Overcooked game, it is fast and crazy. There are much more things to add, I encourage you to work on it post jam because it has potential.

Overall good job, I'm looking forward to seeing what you cook up next time :ocean: :hourglass_flowing_sand: :european_castle:

Journey in Spacetime: A Text Adventure by shortCreative 2022-04-12T21:34:25Z

Cool little text game. As people already mentioned, it was a bit difficult to understand what is this blurred text when I read it, but perhaps it was confusing on purpose, so the player has a revelation at the end of the game. The ending I think could be more clear than it is now, for a second I thought it just misremembered my choices until I read the ending "name".

Thank you for your submission and hanging on the stream @shortcreative

WE ARE DOOMED by andrground 2022-04-07T10:38:27Z

A bit pessimistic for people to die out before they ever enter the Bronze Age. But maybe I wasn't clicking fast enough :)

I liked the concept, it fits the theme very well. As you mentioned in previous comments you were short of time but what we have now, shows clearly what you planned. I liked that as the time progressed more human camps and settlements popped out. Even if not intentional the game was writing new history each time; "wow, this times first humans settlements emerged in Scandinavia, but were destroyed by meteors" was fun thing to say when I was playing.

As for the problem with rotations, perhaps simply switching to keyboard for a rotation might work?

Overall, good job! I hope you will continue with this project for a while to add some things you had in mind :) :earth_africa: :earth_asia: :earth_americas:

LD55 — Summoning

Unpacking Armageddon by notnasiul 2024-04-27T14:47:35Z

I like that instead of "thinking" puzzle you made "action" puzzle. It's technically the same but feels different to play. At the beginning when I was still in "this is puzzle, so you need to think" mindset I didn't like the fact you don't have a timer on summoning circles, but later, I felt like it worked for the rush feeling I had when I was moving the last candle into the place.

Very enjoyable, fast paced game

Summon craft: Ritual Simulator by Xakkar 2024-04-24T19:39:50Z

The game was enjoyable. Summoning by drawing and placing ingredients was neat and thematically on point. It works with drawing tablet  First time I placed five of the same ingredients and it failed, but I figured it out pretty quickly, that it has to be all different, and sometimes a special ingredient is needed (like horse hair, cat's paw, etc.) Eventually I managed to reach day five with 110 gold and 17 reputation

It was a bit disappointing to get the same events couple of times in a row. Like summoning dead cat of the same name (well it was a bit funny), perhaps a list that depletes and then renews when reaches the end would ensure less chance of events randomly appearing twice?

What another things I would like to see, is to have easier access to my ingredients, somewhere on the bottom perhaps, because it was a chore to open the bag and scroll each time, especially when you have scroll all the way to the end to pick Malachite and Incense.

Overall a cool game! I left a decent score :peace:

Spirit, are you there? by namnam 2024-04-18T16:19:07Z

Very enjoyable. Cool characters, I liked them despite being able to see only their hands. I played couple of times to explore more paths and my favorite is a plot twist where I'm haunting Ben's room because he killed me :scream:

I was wondering, did you use a tool for branching dialogue (like Twine or Ink) or did you make it by yourself?

Only thing I could complain about was that it was weird to move back and forth the marker if I wanted to say yes (or no) twice in a row.

Tristram by Rongo Matane 2024-04-26T22:15:04Z

Audio, graphics and mood are world class quality. It was very comfy to hang around the village to the point I was a bit sad to learn there is very little to do there, but I did roleplay a bit walking around, and waiting for my heroes to rest (even if it wasn't necessary).

For the combat phase I wished I could do something as they battled. We play as an old sage, so I though, like a Gandalf, I could send some inspiration for my heroes to fight longer or stun the enemies. I understand this is an autobattler, but I would gladly welcome some form of limited player's intervention, as you don't choose items, or order a formation. On the topic of formation and squads, it was difficult to "manage" parties. I guess it was part of the design to limit swapping, but I often wanted to have "proper" adventuring parties with tank, barbarian, rogue, healer and a mage, but often it wouldn't let me do that and I ended with 2 tanks and 2 healers that couldn't deal any damage but wouldn't die or flee for a long time.

By the way, congratulation for getting featured in Rock Paper Shotgun and fingers crossed for another Dome Keeper like success should you wanted to push this further!

Emperor's Gems by Togis 2024-04-20T23:21:52Z

I managed to get down to 1m30s time left, but I still see the room for improvement. Very enjoyable game, a bit of theory, a bit of numbers, and a bit of fast clicking. Little dudes are adorable. rekord.png

What I found a bit confusing was that I intuitively assumed (and I had a hard time to get rid of that assumption) that left/right assistant is from the perspective of tax collector not the player, who doesn't really have left/right more like up/down. But perhaps it is just me.

One other thing is that, given already nice shape of the panels (with speed, carrier number, mana generation etc.), perhaps those could be buttons as a whole? It would be easier to click on them than to aim for the little pluses.

Bean and Brew by RunicPixels 2024-04-22T22:29:09Z

Not my favorite genre but it was quite enjoyable, at least couple first levels, later it was too chaotic for me  Obviously comfy visuals and setting :coffee: :frog: :goat:

Arise, QWERT! by niterich 2024-04-27T19:49:19Z

There is a good deal of potential here, but currently, sadly, it gets old pretty fast. I played it for some time and I couldn't figure out what is correlation between letters and powers, even if there is any there is no reason not to rotate between AAAAA or BBBB that offer good power, rate and hit radius.

I tried to think of demon names and type them, but most I could think of weren't 5 letters long, so I went on Wiki on Demon Names page and tried to type some, hoping for some good combos, and I don't know if that's coincidence, but some demon names had a different image, but in most cases weren't as good as AAAAA, so on that front I'm pretty disappointed.

But as I mentioned, the base for something cool is there. I keep my fingers crossed for an updated version :fingers_crossed:

Demon At Duty by TevasLiutauras 2024-04-25T21:56:00Z

Good choice for those three enemies; spearman, archer and berserker, each had a different way to deal with them.

I found that running isn't very helpful, even made the game harder for me. I think it is easier to just stand in place and "move" using dash. With that I was able to, quickly and without a problem, finish the game. My upgrades were: heart, pepper and heart again, but it looks like it doesn't work twice (would be nice to have that mentioned somewhere). I wish there could be more levels with more enemies incoming and being able to buff myself even more, but I couldn't press anything on the end game screen.

I didn't expect "going home" for the first time so it was a surprise. The way you get upgrades by cooking and take care of the child by swinging it, was funny.

Overall a very enjoyable game :smiling_imp:

Fries&Bones by ArtoniX 2024-04-27T22:13:34Z

I didn't max out everything from the shop, but maybe I will come back and try to do that. Good thing you added a short tutorial on the website, because first seconds were confusing, but afterwards everything was clear.

I'm a fan of cooking/delivery games so it immediately caught my attention and it was enjoyable experience. I wished there would be more reason for movement than it is now. In my game I kept just walking in circle passively collecting stuff that was automatically dragged into the counter, and I feel like I might not even needed to be there. Some games of the genre make you walk to customers, to the tables, bring ingredients or clean up etc. Obviously it is a jam game, so it is not like you haven't thought about such things.

Overall a fine game, I had a good time :hamburger:

10/10

Orion by Ben Toosey 2024-04-18T15:34:55Z

There can't be enough praise for the art style; absolutely gorgeous. 6/5.

I read about what you didn't manage to finish, and it is a bummer, but what you have achieved alone is very commendable anyway. Heads up! What you planned to do sounds great, especially the lines creating constellations. People in the comments are throwing cool ideas too. I wish you enough motivation to finish and polish your game :)

I have some feedback for the auto-battling part though. The way it is resolved right now doesn't enhance what I thought would be desirable player behavior of building specialized units using different-colored stars (tanks with blue, and damage dealers with red) and reshuffling their position on the board.

It doesn't happen for two reasons:

1) Given a 2 vs 1 scenario, the unit in the 2nd position won't ever attack until the unit in the 1st position is alive. So if I manage to create a 2/8 attacker, it won't have a chance to shine until an 8/2 tank dies, and then it dies too because it has low HP.

2) Given a 2 vs 1 scenario again, the enemy will be able to attack twice, so again, having a 'glass cannon' attacker at the back doesn't work.

Personally, I would see that each unit, starting from the center, attacks once the closest to them enemy until everyone made its move, then repeat until only one side is alive.

Good luck!

Middleman Summons by Jvdwijk 2024-04-24T20:06:06Z

I reached 7th level :confetti_ball:

So it won't be a surprise if I say that the game isn't polished, but despite that it was a fine puzzle experience. By reading your responses in the comments it seems that you were aware of some problems your game had, and it was just the lack of time, which is understandable :clock:. I do encourage you finish it though

One thing I thought would perhaps be good, is the ability to rotate the conveyors when the game is running. That would allow for some dexterity challenges and varied game play.

Demonic Panic by Guilloteam 2024-04-24T21:54:08Z

While I'm far from getting into leaderboard I had a blast playing. Demonic Panic easily one of the best, if not the best game in this Ludum Dare in my opinion. Very well done.

Only thing I might want is to get better feedback when being close to death, because it sometimes comes unexpected.

Also it is nice to see your team making great games almost every jam. I remember your Super Bario Bros and Count Down Dracula. Looking forward to what will you cook next time

Spellbook Shuffle by ice9 2024-04-28T17:05:38Z

Mashed 150 monsters before ending early.

I like the concept of figuring out combination, sending summoned creatures against opponents they have advantage over, but I don't think I was good at it. I had two or three combinations more or less deciphered out, but usually I just spammed intuitively, which kind of worked as I lost only one portal health, but that's because I lost focus for a moment.

So as I mentioned, I might be bad at it, but if I were to work on this more, I would try to make the rules clearer to obtain, communicate more what is what and then reshuffle every new level/round.

Overall, pretty enjoyable game, pretty innovative. Well done! :rainbow:

Summoner's Sanctum by Prismapunch 2024-04-28T16:21:48Z

Visual style reminds me of old cartoons, love it. Music also fits this happy dungeoneering.

As many previously mentioned 5 archers strategy seems to beat everything, I managed to get to 27th level without enemy even hitting them once. While I assume units were supposed to counter each other; slow golems < archers < flying skulls < barbarian/knight < skeletons < knight/barbarian < slow golems but currently it isn't finely tuned.

Overall, enjoyable experience, well done!

TERRIBLE TILES by oatsbarley 2024-04-25T22:15:57Z

I feel like it was a lot of RNG when it comes to what will be rolled on the tiles. Sometimes with just one move I got 9 points (3x3), and other times I struggled to get 5. What I often thought would be nice; is to place temporary modifier on the tiles like "unmovable row/column" or "for next move this counts as green/blue/red" but I understand that those ideas are cheap to write, and not so when you make a Compo game in 48h. Are you planning on working on it a bit more, or you consider it done?

Overall quite enjoyable puzzle

Not very thematic, but I guess you know it, because otherwise you wouldn't opt out.

Summoned Memories by Flying Butter Studio 2024-04-27T21:28:50Z

Very touching story, I love short narrative games like this. It is refreshing to see an entry that is not about demons, but a gentle, but sad story about summoning lost memories  Losing memories must be horrible feeling.

Choosing memories and colors to paint is very innovative, I haven't seen anything like this before. That being said I think the bolded hints, thoughts/memories words and journal definitely need another pass and more work. There were only couple layers where you could reasonable solve the riddle, but many hints or memories were counterintuitive or even misleading. I saw in comments that you didn't have enough time for text polish, and that's understandable, after all you did participate in 48h Compo, not 72h Jam.

I compiled a list of suggestions and feedback for each layer, but I don't want to paste it here to save spoilers for others. If you would like me to send it to you, and perhaps if you needed help with English translations and polish I could gladly help. I followed your Twitter, so reach out if you need anything.

Hellmouth Pizza by FunnyPumpkin 2024-04-20T22:24:56Z

As a connoisseur of cooking games on PC and mobile, Hellmouth Pizza is quite enjoyable. Comfy music, cool visuals, my favorite customer; tentacle lady :heartbeat:, everything is light and humorous despite being "hellish". What I didn't figure out was whether the signs on the scroll mean something

Couple of things that bothered me were: - It is difficult to see what's on the order pizza while it is slowly showing up, but the time is already ticking. - I feel like it would be an improvement if we could place the same ingredient multiple times. - In games like this, clients usually wait in front of the counter as you prepare their meal. I think it would be nice to be able to look at those characters for longer than a second while they are picking up their order, because otherwise their cool design and art are wasted.

Hell's On Hold by OblivionCreator 2024-04-21T14:27:01Z

Very innovative approach. At first I was annoyed that callers don't even state what they are trying to do, so I can look up a solution, but then I realized it is because this is a real-life experience of help desk people

I enjoyed browsing the book, especially because every time I flipped the page, there was a small animation of us doing so behind the desk. Loved that  Sticky Notes are also very cleverly done. The game reminded me of Strange Horticulture, which I very much liked as well.

A bit of feedback: I feel like you could have had the whole scene zoomed out a little bit, because currently there is a need to scroll left/right, especially when you can't really see two things at the same time (the book and a computer).

I feel like there should be an option to "Change Something" without going in to ask about any particular topic. A couple of times I figured out what's wrong while being outside of conversation, and had to ask about a thing I knew about (lowering their patience), then tell the customer to change something.

Sounds of typing, and the speed of letters appearing were a bit annoying to be honest. Similarly, I didn't find the music very fitting.

Get Away Your Pitchforks from My Oak! by Hammerer 2024-04-22T22:08:11Z

I managed to save the oak from pitchfork on the second try! It was fun and engaging, constant action! But the way I did it shows there is some issue with the balance. I found out, that just spamming wolves and walking around the tree is the easiest way to win with no damage to the oak itself. On first try I tried to summon more expensive creatures, and while they seem powerful, the mana cost is too great and because they are bigger, they seem to get stuck more often (especially next to the oak), while many wolves can quickly cover whole area and eliminate enemies before they will even show up.

Ideally there would be different types of enemies that are weak against one type of summons, and strong against other, so you don't do what I did, but of course I realize that is another heavy load of work for 72h jam.

Rune/Glyph drawing was very fun, despite me repeating one spell over and over.

Overall very enjoyable submission. If you plan on finishing it up, is there a way to "follow" you somewhere?

Cooking with Satan by derfl007 2024-04-28T18:00:36Z

After reading the description of the game I was hyped. The Twitch chat culture was perfectly recreated! At some point I thought that I'm really streaming! Very well done here!

The gameplay though wasn't great to be honest, or I didn't understand it. Correct me if I was doing something wrong: 1) I was clicking fast on the ingredients that float on the screen, each ingredient has three states; "alive", "dead", and "prepared", with the exception of chili peppers that have only two states. Challenge here was to aim and click fast on quickly moving objects and each ingredient had to be cut twice otherwise it was unusable. 2) Only when prepared you are able to start summoning, and then based on the combination of prepared ingredients, something can come up and make the chat go full Poggers. 3) If the combination of ingredients is wrong, you get a poo. If it is correct, you get something. 4) Recipe book doesn't work currently?

I managed to get melted cheese with chili (cheese/chili) and some nachos/fries (cheese/potato/chili), but I've tried many other and nothing worked; tried potato + salt hoping for some fries, tried meat and salt, meat/potato/salt, meat/chili, meat/garlic, cheese/potato for baked potato with cheese, many different combos. I tried to look into the chat for hints and I it scrolled too fast (like in real life) or their suggestions were unclear like infernal veggies? Sounds like potato/garlic (veggies) + chili (infernal) but it didn't work.

First time I won even when I didn't summon anything other than poop, so it was still possible to do that.

Obviously time was a constraint during the jam, but I would like to see changes to main clicking mechanic, make it like a timing or a rhythm challenge to cut something properly. Use different tools for stuff etc.

So the gameplay was a bit disappointing, but the idea of it being a stream, the chat, sounds and alerts, text-to-speach comments, subscription and the whole streaming framework were absolutely delightful.

Cheddar Chaser by magus77 2024-10-17T13:00:55Z

Loved "Epic Fantasy Final Boss Battle Music" when cats are chasing. Overall pretty fun game, a little bit of stealth, a little bit of intense running with some cheesy humour.

I wished there were more ramps and placed to run. Getting on the couch, table or climbing the cords of the TV to reach higher places. But I understand well time constraints.

The Roach is a scumbag :(

Wrath by MadHumster 2024-10-17T13:38:59Z

Pretty wonky, but pretty fun game. Obviously Meteors are most satisfying power. It was great to gather like 15 of them, zoom out, and click around in rapid succession to see proper Armageddon and fire from the sky. The buildings destruction was satisfying, sometimes a bit unintentionally funny when the whole house jumped when a mine nearby exploded.

I didn't really get the idea behind Scare Mines. At first I thought they make poeple gather together (like they are scared and look for other people) so then you can blast them with a Kill Mine or a Meteor, but that doesn't really work.

A couple quality of life changes would go a long way: - don't make me use every power before I want to restart a level. - don't make me spend everything in the shop, I want to get to that meteor.

Well done

Springtail by KeithSwanger 2024-10-10T21:48:18Z

I'm obviously aware of time constraints, but I feel like the level would gain a lot, if more platforms actually resembled furniture and household items, there were couple of shelves and one unjumpable rack, but the rest was pretty abstract.

I reached without cheating until slippery shelf right at the end, then I returned there and enabled checkpoitns. Too bad I was called out for doing that.

It was fun experience, I loved moments when I managed to backflip and land on my feets.

Tiny Economy by Hawkin 2024-10-16T22:20:52Z

I filled the map with 5 tiles left, was it possible to use them all by placing other tiles differently?

If this is just a casual build-your-own-village game then I had fun. Made a sea, then the river with plains around it and the forest around the mountains. On the other side of the river there was a quarry. I didn't aim for the resources because I quickly learned you don't use them for anything.

Obviously it is clear you wanted to make use of resources, but such is a nature of jams and never enough time :) Solid entry

One thing that bugged me was unnecessarily large music box that couldn't be closed or minimized.

What Is This, An Empire For Ants? by Jaco van Hemert 2024-10-16T21:55:23Z

I'm glad I found it, right up my alley. Very simple yet engaging. Failed many times, then completed each level on Easy and Normal.

Playing on Normal right from the start wasn't a good decision. And I agree with an earlier comment, that Australia is more difficult on Easy and Normal than Euroasia or South America. It doesn't matter a lot, because you can play it in any order, but tiering it 1-3 suggests difficulty spike. I would argue that South America is the easiest if you are lucky enough for enemy ants to focus on each other.

You probably thought about it, but I would love to play different types of ants to employ different strategies. Like Australian ants are good for early aggro plays, and Samurai ants on focused attacks to regain their numbers after conquering a colony.

Do you plan to work on that a bit more for some kind of extended version?

Utter chaos, love it. Salute to all the teachers around the world that have to deal with this on a daily basis

Should you want to polish it a bit more, then I feel like going through readability of items and interactables could be helpful; what's the range of electric discharge, better feedback when the healing is happening improved, timers on candies or homework etc.

Newspaper headlines are genius, but during the game, players might have too little time to pay attention to them. How about you showcase them in more detail once the shift ends? Successfully or otherwise.

Great that you included some of that social commentary in form of parody into your game.

Overall, very solid entry

Tiny H.O.C.'s Pro Creator by ltostes 2024-10-11T16:57:01Z

The general concept of having little dudes interbreeding to make more variety of little dudes is great. It works fine to some degree, I was able to create some strange creatures, although not always those I wanted.

Weakest part for me is UI, shop/inventory and lack of explanations, but I understand there is never enough time. I didn't understand what makes the "order" for the creature worth, I didn't get why which features will the child get, didn't get why you have to spawn the meat in the middle of the screen and then activate it. Buying only horizontal platform is often worthless as little dudes tend to jump off them :(

Overall, despite my complaining, very solid entry

Microbe Mayhem by NeroLee 2024-10-16T09:47:44Z

We had a similar idea but we decided to proceed with something else. I'm glad someone took it and turned into something nice.

I appreciate more "scientific" approach to design instead of doing simply "bigger eat smaller" kind of thing. Visuals and music are comfy and fit into the game.

BUT I don't really wholly get the game, a lot of elements is confusing for me even after reading the picture tutorial. What I tried was to approach Docile Bacteria by touching their blue receptors with my blue dots, trying to avoid their red receptors because my blue dots die upon contact (not sure). It goes well for some time, but then my blue dots start to spread, not keeping around Bacteria core and I keep losing them quite fast because they keep touching something outside my camera view. I don't know how should I handle this, if this is intended or a bug.

But for those couple minutes before this happens, it plays well.

Ink Rebels by perka 2024-10-15T12:36:52Z

The artwork is beautiful and original, but that something everything agrees on. The game plays fun and comfy.

There are some areas that could use polishing like among others readability of hitboxes (falling down, knights and eyes hits), layers ordering (sometimes my dudes are "behind" the carpet).

I've checked your profiles and I've noticed you are all new accounts, so congratz on your Ludum Dare debut, very solid entry and promising start!

Very comfy game. Reminds me of a slower pace Firewatch game.

Got myself into the Leaderboard at last place :sunglasses:

It was fun. Stealing give it a bit more depth, than I originally thought it would have based on the thumbnail picture. But to be fair, I didn't get the rules of the game clearly. Even after winning I don't know: how high the stack should be to score, what are scoring rules, how to crush the opponent, whether movement is sometimes choppy on purpose or not. So some explanation would be great if I were to chase the score.

But overall, very fun game  Well done!

Wow, really impressive! I'm not very good at Worlde kind of games, especially not in my native language, but it was a fun experience. Cleverly designed features like scoring, shops, upgrades, progression work together very well. Good job!

Unfortunately I died around Zombie level as I had spent all my paper to heal myself and had very few upgrades

You should really start rating/promoting your game, because as of now, you only have one rating out of twenty necessary.

The Crab's Kingdom by Carbs 2025-10-09T11:13:19Z

Refreshing, hand drawn art style. I played couple of times to see what the next level of our sand castle would look like.

I didn't like not very clear hit boxes of stomping feet, as well as not being able to prolong play-time, e.g. each completed sandcastle level gives you additional time.

Overall, well done

Webbed Up! by Fractal 2025-10-18T13:57:49Z

Amazing game. Great idea and design, great polish, beautiful art. Feels like something straight from a mobile game store. Very well done

At first I didn't understand that one bug icon means to catch only one of that type, I thought I need to catch all bugs of that type only. I think it could be better explained. Especially on level one when you catch all of them in one go, the game doesn't register this as loss, but you can't progress further.

Another small thing I encountered was then I was trying to close the web loop, sometimes pressing very close to the end of the web didn't connect and I had to press couple of times in place.

Trash Catchers by mira 2025-10-09T10:55:34Z

At first I totally misunderstood the game. I thought it was something like the game Chained Together, where the rope between both ships can't go through rocks and it will cause collision with obstacles, and you have to pick up trash with ships, not that the rope is some kind of net  But that's on me.

I like when there is even tiny bit of story and characters, it always gives the game more personality. The pixel art was very fine, and playing with both hands engaging. I wished the dragon was introduced earlier, because 3-4 rounds without anything new were a bit slow.

Very well done game  Cheers!

QIZI: Flag Collector by YurisCat 2025-10-10T17:14:04Z

I like how the game looks and general idea of a battle game in a Chess Board.

Although it wasn't very clear to me that I only can move my whole army, and can't move singular pieces separately, despite the enemy being able to. There is definitely work to be done, if you want to develop this game further, on UI and tooltips to better explain the mechanics.

Overall, well done

@fan interesting feedback about map being too large. My observation is that the map isn't too big, but it's too cramped, so it's difficult to navigate around the bushes, rocks and buildings. Thanks for playing!

@woona thanks for encouraging words. That's true; sounds, visuals and vfx can make a game better, much more than somehow "balanced" gold increase formulas that I spent too much time on  I'll try to prioritize better next time. Thanks for playing!

Impressive amount of content; all the item sprites, descriptions, characters etc. I saw you already explained it in the comments, but I was wondering about the calculations during the game, and I wish I could just show one item, without the need to fill all three slots, especially when the bully had only like 1 hp left.

Also I had a bit of a problem with recognizing icons at first glance. Some of them were very similar to each other and had to look over tooltips constantly, but at least you had tooltips! That doesn't happen often :)

Overall very well done :heartbeat:

I don't care who the IRS sends by BlueDandelion 2025-10-18T13:38:59Z

I liked it enough to spend a lot of time to make it to the finish  Well done

I don't know if that was a design decision, but I'd prefer that opening upgrade shop, either defense, money or collectors items would pause the game. I ran one game without trying to win just to read up the descriptions. When the game isn't paused, you loose all the appeal of collectible items visuals, funny descriptions etc. that you must have spent time to make them pretty. If you can't pause, these are just numbers.

Some dialogues with portraits add so much to games. I need to remind myself about this every time I make a game. Bag mechanic was a bit wonky, but really fun idea. I never broke it, but I drove carefully  which was difficult because the hoover is very fast.

Web version on itch seems to have a lot of freezes. Eventually I downloaded Windows version and everything was alright there.

Very well done

Artifactologically! by JiPark 2025-10-14T11:18:18Z

I like it. Obviously very beautiful 2D art, very clean, and consistent art style. Both art and gameplay reminds me a bit of Strange Horticulture & Antiquities games.

I do have so questions regarding some of the puzzles, because I'm a bit confused: - First when we see a little pendant of a miniature bird god, the description says its "four-legged" so I thought it was a mistake/forgery, because it has one leg and 4 talons/fingers, but it turns out it was all good. - Then we see bigger statue of the same bird god and the picture in the book is very different; one is sitting, another is standing, so it is definitely wrong, but somehow only selecting the foot correctly marks a mistake. And here we see 3 talons/fingers, as opposed to 4 in the miniature version. - Last photo we have a description that people took "everything they could" but also left behind a lot because of "terrain" I assume was difficult/rugged. But the photo shows people without much baggage, walking on a flat terrain, and the post sign says Gorad N. which is like "New City"? I don't get why that would be a mistake in that case? Because the Migration thingy seems like an ancient event, and this is a modern alphabet?

Crown Crow by ThDudk 2025-10-10T18:27:41Z

One of my favourite entries. Polished controls, great visuals, cool music, and very likeable characters :)

But at first I was a bit confused, as I didn't see the C on the walls, and thought I need to dive the shinies when they shine, and when they hide it is already too late. Later I revisited controls on the page. Also if I didn't see someone here in the comment section mentioning the Crown, I wouldn't know there is one, but I liked the game this much that I would farm 10 000 gold anyway

Counterfeit by Reglisse 2025-10-17T20:55:06Z

Unreal builds are always so large, but I had no problem extracting

It was fun spotting the details and missing pieces mentioned in the description, but it was difficult to read it from the Guide. I feel like each collectible deserves own page to be able to look quickly without scrolling. A button to open/close like Tab would also be very helpful when in need to quickly check something.

Some 3D models were funny, like smiling Aristotle :)

Well done

Beaver Bailiff by dr-braur 2025-10-10T20:27:00Z

Very distinct visuals, props to the artist. Same with UI, it felt polished.

I enjoyed raising development of the town. Walking around, checking how small shacks are turning into proper mansions. To withhold the tax collecting when the house was close to an upgrade, and reap the benefits later. It is similar idea I had in my own game, with delayed gratification. Really cool.

What I found lacking a bit, is the Shrines and combat. The first didn't have any visual radius, didn't shoot anything, just damaged on proximity, but you never knew if it is close enough or, whether one will be enough.
