Getting a 404 from the itch.io link

rongo-matane 2022-04-05 08:05

argh, the classic blunder of not setting the itch page to public, and thinking it works because i can see the game page. Fixed that now, thank you for the info. Even documented the error on Stream https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1445947787

zimny11 2022-04-05 12:51

This is way beyond Ludum Dare game! Amazing job as always everyone. Let's go one by one: - Great idea for the game. - The mix of mechanics are fun and give the player nice freedom to try different connections and stuff to figure out on its own. - The monsters are creepy and the suspense in the game is nice. - Art style is phenomenal! Just jaw drops! - And great music, as always!

I see Rene was so tired, that he did not set any text or graphic in the LD and itch.io page, yet XD

johanhelsing 2022-04-05 14:40

This is an incredibly deep, well-balanced and innovative game for a game jam!

It was a bit hard to get into, felt a bit frontloaded with info. Perhaps consider locking away some of the options somehow? (like what you did in dome romantik, which was really clever)

Once I understood I had to click the buildings for info (and read all the hover tooltips), it went from confusing to incredibly engaging. I played this for over an hour before I beat it, which almost never happens for me with jam games.

The town center said something about upgrades when you get orbs, which I still don't understand (unfinished feature?).

I love the art-style, and the music is really fitting and easy to listen to.

My favorite game so farm. Great job!

arzi 2022-04-05 14:55

This is quite an achievement for a Ludum Dare game, even for a large team. The game looks amazing and the gameplay works well, even if it takes a bit of time to learn everything. My only gripe really is that it's pretty time consuming to play, which becomes a problem when you want to rate several entries a day.

Great work!

haayaargh 2022-04-05 16:19

At first, I was a bit lost as to where to look for what. The least intuitive for me was the road system, but I had to pay a bit more attention and to just throw away my previous experience with this kind of games where more buildings = faster production and plan differently. I liked that.

The art is a strong suit here. Putting those AoT like creepy monsters next to those cute villagers made me want to protect their potato heads even more (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)و

Overall I'm very impressed with this game. One of my favorites this season.

dangribanovsky 2022-04-05 18:47

The game is not that intuitive, yes, but it's so beautiful that you want to spend some time and learn. You all should be very very proud of yourself

marvis 2022-04-05 18:49

Wow man! this is amazing!

fidrik 2022-04-05 18:53

For some reason the bottom Ui bar was missing the first time I played, so I was completely lost on what to do. I reloaded and it was there.

think its an awesome game, the art and music and great, and I really like how you have to plan where to place your buildings around the approaching enemies.

I didnt really understand how to get my guys to attack a specific enemy, if thats possible?

but defo one of the best and most polished games ive played this jam

webox 2022-04-05 18:53

Omg this is amazing!! How did you mange to build all of this?? The art is top notch, the idea and game design are awesome, music and SFX are incredible too.. This is serious contester here. The universe feels so cohesive, the creatures are creepy, scary and funny at the same time. Just perfect, congrats to the team!!

polymathld 2022-04-05 19:01

Wow, absolutely love the production values on display here--art, graphics, everything. Creepy Attack on Titan vibes plus city/civilization builder. Fine work!

notnasiul 2022-04-05 19:04

It's The Settlers meet Attack on Titan!! I LOVED the Settlers, the original one, which had a road mechanic quite similar to yours. Impressive work for a jam!

tengusheath 2022-04-05 19:09

Highly polished game for a jam. Would love to see this turned into a full game with more refined rules.

wetburritosupreme 2022-04-05 19:10

Wildly well done, glad I followed you from last year, this was a great entry! Super impressive style and feel, it spooked me out having that pressure on me. Great job to everyone involved! Musics stuck in my head and I won't be forgetting the spooky purants. Awesome game!

pickyburrito49 2022-04-05 19:12

Fantastic concept and I have almost gotten an orb so many times but the mobs always crowd in and kill my roads and despawn the retriever unit. I really like the original Warcraft/Starcraft vibes the game gives. It is one of the few I have bookmarked to come back to a play again. Any tips by the way on selecting the buildings to assign units? The one struggle I had was 'grabbing' the building as it would try and just build whatever I had last selected.

alex-mulkerrin 2022-04-05 19:17

Been looking forward to seeing this entry ever since I saw the in progress screenshots on the website feed :D

Fantastic work everywhere for such a fitting game for the theme. That your team was able to get everything done in such a short time is testament to your organisational skills, congrats!

Thanks for doing a twitch stream of playing the game too. It was very cool to see the game played all the way through. There was even some live bug fixing and the game kept running after being frozen. Is this the power of Godot? Wow :O

cyzaine 2022-04-05 19:39

This really stands out. Its tricky and a tutorial is badly needed, but when you give it the time it deserves, it is a fun experience. Art and music is particularly standout. I hope you guys intend to extend this into a full game.

seniorwombat 2022-04-05 19:47

This game is fantastic!! Idea is brilliant and gameplay is very addictive. It certainly has the potential to be a full game!

I would suggest adding some instruction in the future though - it took me a while to understand all the rules in game

davision 2022-04-05 19:53

Really cool to see such a more complex game and the art style is lovely! I found it a bit frustraing through. Mainly because there is no clear overview of what is happening, building can be hard with finding place and then connecting the roads but also an interesting concept. When the baddies already closed in a good amount and destroyed stuff it feels kinda hopeless to keep going. Maybe if they would vanish when they destroyed something and there are pockets of space where you can build again it would feel better.

tamagotchi 2022-04-05 19:57

When I first opened the game and saw the title screen and menu I was already impressed, after playing it I can confidently say that his game is absolutely outstanding. Was a bit difficult at the beginning, but the challenge makes you want to come back and learn how the game *really* functions, what the best strategies are for getting the orbs, and what you should absolutely not do unless you want to die quickly.

The art and animations are very cute, I love the little orbles ^^ The Purants are quite scary, I love how you can feel the weight and impact as they get closer, you really conveyed how important their approach is! Very nice music and sound effects, it sounds very cute when your orriors attack.

So far this is the best Ludum Dare game I played, you did an incredible job!

nardandas 2022-04-05 20:05

Really impressive game, took my a while to beat it! The art and just like, general setting was so cute! I love AoT style monsters. The music as well was really nice and fitting.

I found it was kinda lopsided in its difficulty. Getting started was very difficult but once you built an economy and secured some land you were pretty set. I think a lot of the difficulty in the beginning was just getting the dang things to do what I wanted. I ended up on my winning run deleting all of the starting buildings to build something more efficient.

At the very end I was having a lot of lag spikes. It wasn't impossible to play but it did make it sort of annoying.

filgru 2022-04-05 21:10

Amazing game!! Cool graphics & music! The game is difficult, but enjoyable! Impressive work!! Now, I'm going back playing it!

okamit 2022-04-05 23:16

Really well done game, as always! Art is amazing as well, as always! The only complaint I have is that it's a bit overwhelming at first, which is hard to balance while trying to give feedback to a lot of people. But, because of that I will return to it again later, and definitely after the jam is over.

Great job and thank you for sharing!

beefsock 2022-04-05 23:24

I agree with others that being thrown in with so many options in the beginning was a bit overwhelming. That said, WOW. Wonderful pixel art and animations. Really enjoyed the attention to detail like the waving canopy of the watchtowers and glimmering water within the wells. Beautiful.

simplepotential 2022-04-05 23:28

First off, the game looks amazing! It took me entirely too long to figure out how to play though but once I did it was really quite enjoyable. Nice job

griggy 2022-04-05 23:31

Very strong Attack on Titan vibes from the surrounding enemies. Very cool game.

sasquatchbstudios 2022-04-05 23:42

Really impressive entry! Can't believe you managed to bang this out in a weekend. Audio was really on point and responsive, I liked the naming conventions for everything, and liked the story. Super intimidating to start with such a huge mob surrounding the city.

It had a STEEP learning curve. I had to restart the game 3 times before learning to right click or press esc to exit out of a build state (for example, when I wanted to 'cancel' out of path building, I kept clicking the path building tool thinking that would do it, only to think the game was bugged when it didn't do what I expected.)

I found it a bit slow. The huge mob made me frantically want to build as many soliders as possible but it seemed a bit slow to get them built up, making me feel a tad frustrated...and once the mob circled in on my city 2-3 times I felt like giving up and starting over since there's so little space to work with.

Overall though, SUPER impressive entry, and I'm wanting to keep coming back for more to do better. Can't even imagine how much work this would have taken. Congrats on getting this massive feat pulled off!

ismael-rodriguez 2022-04-06 00:04

Fantastic work, everything is amazing. I played this for longer than I want to admit, especially because I'm terrible at it lol. I never figured out how to produce soldiers fast enough to keep my village safe, but it was a lot of fun to try! Great job everyone!

baronb 2022-04-06 00:05

This game is really cool! I think I had a bug and couldn't find where to build stuff at first. Once I got into it, I really enjoyed the strategy. I immediately dumpster most of the beggining stuff and rebuild! lol. I wish there was a pause function.

lako 2022-04-06 00:14

A really well made game. The visuals are really great and are surprisingly fluid. The music is good, there seems to be not many sound effects however. The gameplay is very difficult, but you learn more and start to progress on the goal. Your team did a great job making this in only ~72 hours.

apphons6 2022-04-06 00:37

12/10 amazing game, nothing to add, great art Cyangmou, charming music and difficult gameplay that leaves room for mastery

andreia 2022-04-06 05:50

This is incredible! Very nice finished game. The enemies were so creepy, it created an intense suspense as I played. I am just amazed at the level of polish for a game jam. Great work :o

tanner-shelton 2022-04-06 07:48

This is epic! Very deep and very put together. Definitely felt like a settlers game. I also really liked the audio and the graphics. It was fun seeing a thriving little city.

kobahawk 2022-04-06 10:11

Pretty cool litle game, very polished.

wlqwos 2022-04-06 14:16

The game is just almost perfect for the jam but I think it lacks a bit of initial free space and time to figure everything out and build economy. Art is superb of course, thanks to Cyangmou and music is absolutely lovely!

hadesfury 2022-04-06 15:54

Awesome game .. Pretty hard too. Well polished.

sipfindel 2022-04-06 16:41

Why do I need to be so bad at strategy games. even with the guide I had hard time understanding what am I doing wrong. Although I love the artstyle the most.

adangtran 2022-04-06 18:04

Great concept. Cohesively presented.

It took a bit to figure out how the economy worked, never really got it bustling like the gif. Warrior AI sometimes went too deep into the baddies.

landberglife 2022-04-06 19:39

Great submission, I had a hard time understanding how to get the orbling warriors going, but after watching your twitch gameplay I was ready to go. The audio, gameplay-tempo and graphics created a great atmosphere. The theme adaptation was great, I really did try to delay inevitable win condition just to keep building my lovely little village.

mechanicallife 2022-04-06 19:59

Real cool, took me a few retries until i finally beat it. Very well polished and concise, I would have loved to rotate building, but I understand that would have been a bunch of additional assets to make  Also just starting new path where ever you want would be nice. I did realize that if I connected a hut or something and then removed it I could achieve the same thing but it felt a bit hacky to do so. Anyhow great entry overall and an amazing little game, well done!

emmatw 2022-04-06 20:41

Very impressive and well polished game! I really liked the art, the buildings look amazing :)

rongo-matane 2022-04-06 21:56

Wow, so many responses already! Thank you all so much, the feedback is really valuable, both for the game and for our hearts, and i'm very thankful for it! It's intensifying the wish that i'd have had more time to introduce the mechanics, but it also felt like we had nothing to cut. Some systems could have been simplified i think saving 2-4 hours. Maybe next time :)

On the amount of work - it was a ton. I recorded day 3 for my part https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1445947787 and i know cyangmou worked about as much. Cameron also a ton, 16 minutes of music!

@zimny11 thanks zimny, always love your quality feedback!

@johanhelsing hehe, yes, upgrades are actually implemented but i didn't have time to add the upgrade popup actually opening.

@fidrik if you played in the browser, it might have been scrolled outside of the screen. You can direct your Orriors with the watchtowers - they'll go off to fight monsters near them.

@webox going full force 3 days with a great team :D

@pickyburrito49 oh yeah, grabbing to "copy" is a super smart UX thing!

@alex-mulkerrin <3 Yes, the power of Godot. Super fun engine, it can really go wild while the game keeps running.

@davision i had hopeless situations too, but they recovered. When your area shrinks, so shrinks the border you have to defend. Every level of economy has a natural border it can sustain - kind of self balancing. Anyway, i mostly wanted to say again: i love your avatar :D

@nardandas yeah, the most difficult thing is the start. After that, the settlement is not at risk anymore, mostly.

@mechanicallife you can start a path anywhere. Just click the path button and then a free field in the map :)

odiovock 2022-04-06 22:42

Amazing game, it's addictive. You really have to think about positioning and how your prioritize your production, as well as the path placement. It is a hard game, well for my skills anyway. Making the soldiers go where you want them to go is kind of anoying. Overall I really enjoyed it and kept trying

danield 2022-04-07 02:37

Amazing, great, amazingly great. The best game jam game I've ever played I think. Well done.

unmagical 2022-04-07 02:49

Great Game. Not too hard to understand what I have to do, but will definitely take some time to learn how to master it.

agrimes 2022-04-07 03:40

Most of my 80 warriors would just stand in place in front of the forts, but the rest managed to tear the enemy apart well enough. Great concept!

rongo-matane 2022-04-07 06:40

@agrimes Hm, that means they are garrisoned at watchtowers that don't have any monsters near them, so they don't move out at all. You can destroy older watchtowers or place new ones, that should help. But the mechanics should be changed a little, so that towers that see no action for a longer time are not garrisoned at all.

tomssuli 2022-04-07 11:07

Great and very polished entry. Couldn't find any bugs whatsoever. I loved all the pixelart and music was fitting. There could maybe have been more sound effects but like that it also had it's peaceful mood.

I liked the settlers-like game mechanics although I couldn't find a balance that would produce steady flow of warriors. Maybe it has to do with the maximum users per road. I tried it several times. Great idea and implementation of a strategy game in so little time (We made an RTS too and didn't get even nearly that much content in :open_mouth:).

This entry had very professional overall impression about it. Great job!

osh-studio 2022-04-07 12:45

Favourite game of the jam so far - I love it! Can't stop playing it.

shivart 2022-04-07 18:06

Wonderful job!

yorsh 2022-04-07 18:45

Really cool take on the theme, the monsters are really scary. I really, really want to delay them :) The game is super deep and insanely polished, great job !

gaming-night 2022-04-07 21:08

Yes indeed, very solid and impressive game! It almost feels like a whole complete game. As I read above, the monsters feel scary and funny at the same time, they made me think of a Ghibli movie character :) Not much to say, but congrats!

woahitsjeff 2022-04-07 22:29

So polished, very impressive! It looks good, it sounds good, it plays nicely. My only pain point was that the resolution started massive instead of small and letting us put it fullscreen, but this is super minor. I had a lot of fun trying this out. Well done!

rollyrollin 2022-04-07 23:51

This has very impressive art, but I'm not sure what to feel about the gameplay, I played multiple rounds and each time died, I don't understand how you'd win, maybe I'm just bad at the game :/. Anyways, super impressive visuals with hard gameplay.

unitedfailures 2022-04-08 03:41

One of the best takes on "Delay The Inevitable" that I've seen.

The description drives home this point - but this is a game that will take a bit to fully understand. But once you get past that learning curve the gameplay is really nice.

The strongest point I would give this game is how it sets up such a cool mood. The character design dichotomy of the little orblings compared to the scare big (AoT-esque) giants, coupled with music that gives off a vibe that says "shit is serious, but if you play it smart and you'll make it".

This game rocks, and I strongly encourage the devs to keep with it after the jam.

peachtreeoath 2022-04-08 08:07

I failed this game at least a dozen times, but I'm really glad I stuck with it. I actually scanned the comments here and on Itch but none of it was particularly useful. You sorta need to just tinker around with the economy until you figure it out, unless you need an exact walkthrough.

My advice for anyone struggling: pay attention to your resources and how they pile up. From there try to figure out what would be an efficient way to move all your resources along and keep things occupied. The mistake I made was treating this not like a supply chain game. I was taken in by the theming and spectacle, but ultimately your strategy fundamentals will save you here.

Since I played 40m+, needless to say I thought this game was amazing. The turnbased movement of the titans works extremely well here. They are able to move in more predictable ways which keeps you calm while at the same time imposing huge threat onto the player. This concept was done in They Are Billions, but I think this style works much better because you aren't taking constant light damage all the time on your walls and can focus on the grand scheme of things.

Finally, I loved that final stretch of the road when you go for the orbs. Sure by then you probably have an efficient economy going on, but just seeing the flashing titans + your slow, big headed carrier run around gave me a sense of dread that it might fall apart still.

This was a brilliant idea and probably a top 3 entry for me this jam!

shigor 2022-04-08 11:43

Very impressive, even for a larger team. Going to save this one for later, to try to find how to actualy beat it :) (the only problem I have is that although I have sort of economics running, after few tries, I still don't know how to actually push my warriors in areas where I need them...

zsharpfire 2022-04-08 20:53

An incredibly good and polished game, with fun mechanics and an amazing gameplay loop. Impressive how you guys managed to finish this in such a short time.

One of the best entries i've seen so far

ursagames 2022-04-08 21:22

Always look forward to playing your teams games on jams! This one was no exception, great stuff! I do wish the towers felt more impactful over increasing the area your orriors cover. Like if they could be manned by 1 orble as an archer for example and helped prioritize titans that are close to a tower. I think the biggest issue I had was when my orriors would run off into the crowd of titans. That being said, the economy mechanics are really solid and once I figured out I could stop roads anywhere instead of having to connect them I found it a lot easier to organize my buildings. Had a blast playing! Didn't actually get all 3 orbs yet, but I'll try and come back and see if I can later when I have more time :)

link270 2022-04-08 21:55

Amazing game! Had a great time playing it. I played and failed and played until I beat it, taking me at least 30-40 minutes. haha I loved the ideas and how everything worked. It was a blast once I figured out what was going on.

Some notes, There were a few bugs I ran into while playing, nothing that killed the game, but it felt like it was struggling towards about the halfway point when I was working towards my second orb. The game would freeze and stutter a lot, especially if I tried to increase the speed. I was playing the web version, so this may partially why. It froze once and I thought it was going to crash, but it recovered okay.

Another bug I noticed with my orriors, unless I wasn't understanding the mechanics, I had a few watchtowers setup in the top right to go for the last orb, but no one was coming to attack, the towers said they had a bunch of guys garrisoned as well. When the enemies were really close to me the flood gates opened and all the orriors that should have been there flooded out and once and slaughtered haha It was funny to watch, and I'm glad they came to the rescue, but a little weird they took so long.

It's totally understandable to have bugs like this for a jam game. The bugs didn't really affect my experience and won't affect the rating at all.

For anyone struggling I found that just getting a ton of farms and huts out early was really important, once you're flowing with little guys you can more easily get orriors out of them. The mine areas seem to put out plenty of recourses, I could have 3-4 forts from one mine and my bottleneck was just waiting on the slow orblings to show up, they move really slowly, so if you have a big flow that helps. Don't go for the first orb to early, the enemies come in really hard when you start and harder when you get one, so wait until you have a good amount of space before attempting it. Finally, use the watchtowers, place them where you need your orriors to go, and delete the ones you no longer need. The guys seem to spread out to the watchtowers, so if I needed more on one spot I would place a few there to encourage them to go in that direction.

Took me quite a few tries, but I'm glad I got it. Nicely done!

metzkermeister 2022-04-08 22:54

I want to love this game but there are too many issues. The buildings shapes make them very akward to place, especially because you cannot place road crossings adjacent to each other. The pathfinding is aweful, Orbles wander around the entire town to get to their goal and carriers often refuse to pick up recourses while the attached buildings are starving. Orriors keep standing in front of their barracks, not moving out, while Puritans are almost at an Outpost. These things combined with multiple crashes made for quite a frustrating experience. I really wanted to love this game, i played for over an hour and almost beat it twice, just to have it freeze up (the last time just before getting the 3rd Orb). I love the Art, i love the idea and i did enjoy the game when it was working as intended, but sadly my experience was not a good one in the end.

dodormeur 2022-04-09 08:55

Really cool game ! I really like the mix of attack on titan and strategy ^^ It took a bit of time to adapt to the construction pattern, but once it was understood, it was really cool ! I also wished we could order the defender to defend a certain zone, it can be a bit frustrating to see them clear a zone far away from your camp when titans are ravaging the other side X) Apart from that, an incredible entry, very polished, with beautiful graphics, outsanding music and fun gameplay !

voidsay 2022-04-09 12:47

I almost gave it a pass, cause I only saw a windows link. Glad that I still clicked.

I think that the key to winning is to understand the production ratios and the fact that you can remove and add Bearers. 2 farms 1 house, 1 mine 2 barracks (I read the logs, I know these are barracks and not forts, you can't fool me ;^] )

Voidsay's gameplay remarks :tm:

- Didn't feel like the watchtowers did anything. Oriors just ran wherever they wanted anyway - I sometimes wished that they would attack the enemies that was closest to the buildings and posed the most risk, but they ususally went off into the thicket - After I got about 100 Orbals I removed most of the houses to combat the lag. I noticed that you put a limit of 80 Oriors, is there a limit on Orbals? - After establishing 6'ish forts, I felt pretty safe. I wish there was some sort of mechanic that made it harder near the end. Even the speedup when collection the gold didn't have me worried.

Voidsay's QA corner:

- Oriors (not sure if I should hug or slap whoever came up with this one) sometimes get stuck hitting thin air. You can see two of them in the picture near the bottom mine. The killed the enemy, but didn't update their state for some reason.

- There seems to be a stutter either when building roads or right before the enemies move (it's inconsistent, so I'm not sure)

- Had a glitch that killed the game, not sure if you can make anything of it. It occurred right as the enemies made their step and I think I was collecting the second golden orbal. Here's an image and a link to the log. Screenshot from 2022-04-09 13-02-18.png https://gist.github.com/Voidsay/f03d19904d3456e126dfbf3fbdcd689c

snowycocoon 2022-04-09 16:08

The game is great. One of the best on the jam. Instead of writing down the things that I've liked, I'll write down the top 3 issues that were a little bit painful.

1. Game is very laggy after a while. I can't say that it is unplayable (because I've won the game), but It is destroying the experience.

2. I don't get how the game relates to the jam theme. You're not delaying the inevitable, you can straight up win the game and the "inevitable" is gone.

3. Some Orbles were just doing nothing instead of moving the materials around. In the end, I've just started to keep the road count as minimal as it could be. Just Fort <-> Mine and Hut <-> Farm.

dgspitzer 2022-04-09 19:39

Wow an easy straight 5 stars game! I managed to clean up all the monsters on the map, super fun! WeChat Image_20220409152156.png

rongo-matane 2022-04-10 08:55

Thank you for all the feedback, i love it <3

@unitedfailures awesome, that was really what i was aiming for regarding the dichotomy: Contrasting the cute and pleasant Orbles with overproportionate horror.

@peachtreeoath Nice, the game being about a supply chain is a great observation i didn't put in words before. I wanted a settlers 2 game which is about the strength and output of your economy, with a lot of scaling, not something where you need every building once or twice and then are mostly set. Supply Chain game is a great term for that.

@shigor they'll attack the Purants in the area of their tower. A new Orrior checks which tower has the smallest garrison and checks from there. So ideally, you can remove towers that are safe, as they'll be garrisoned but the Orriors will only idle.

@ursagames my man :) Thank you!

@metzkermeister The Orriors will only stay at the fort, if their tower has no Purants in range. Ideally you delete the towers the are not really relevant anymore, freeing up those Orriors. Sorry to hear there were technical issues - with the complexity of the game it couldn't be made water tight. But it's definitely something that is better in the download version, which is the one that should be considered for this jam (and the only one linked from this page).

@voidsay hello again, thank you for the quality feedback :) The screenshot is epic, really funny seeing them all step. Limit was intentional, as the game surely would not live to see 2000 Orriors walk around. Suttering came from the path finding of the Orriors being slow.

@snowycocoon the idea is that the Purants are inevitable - no matter what you do and how good you fight, they cannot be stopped, only delayed. This is what you do until you can finally escape them by, in a sense, changing the rules of the game. You know you can't stop them, so you flee from their world. I think the other option of ramping them up until they finally crush you might be too disheartening for a building game like that, seeing your nice settlement slowly overrun. But maybe it would be cool, even more fun.

once I understood the mechanic (took about 15 tries lol) it was extremely satisfying to see all the littles fellas walking around and the orrior counter going up. This is nothing no one has mentioned, but the graphics are just great, and the winning screen was also really good, great game, thank you all for making something this good (:

What can say. This is just incredible. You're so experienced and prepared guys. My respect

holyblackcat 2022-04-10 20:52

This has to be the second-best game on this jam! :P I'm getting Attack on Titan and Factorio vibes.

Managed to clear most of the map and win. Didn't experience any lag in the web version.

The only thing that threw me off a bit is that having < 3 orbs had only negative effects, so I just delayed getting them until I controlled most of the map.

jirushi 2022-04-11 20:21

The default layout of the buildings was unnecessary confusion. But was it fun? Idk, I just played for a few hours.. lol But phenomenal musical experience and great artCapture.PNG

Good effort on a settlers game in 72 hours. Found it a bit hard mainly due to the initial conditions. It's hard to get the first few soldiers out there.

ossi 2022-04-11 22:32

It took a few tries but when it finally clicked I was hooked! I really like the daisy-chain mechanic of getting your workers to gather and pass off the resources from one to another. It really gave me an "ant simulator" type vibe which I love. It was pretty difficult but once I optimized making soldiers it started to become a lot more manageable. The art and the music are great! Probably the longest time I've spent playing one game jam game so far!

Thank you so much for taking the time to appreciate the music and leave such kind reviews! It was definitely a challenge to pump out 15 minutes of music in ~60 hours but it was a ton of fun :D

If you have any interest, I have it up as a free download here: https://cameronpaxton.bandcamp.com/album/orbles-ost

Thanks again, and happy jamming!

Great Game, congratulations

apples-mmmmmmmm 2022-04-12 10:05

A very cute game for how deceptively difficult it is. Interesting to see that the only real resource are the orbles that you manage and the limited amount of roads spaces that you can use to tie together all your buildings. Definitely a lot going on between how many people you should put on each road in each location at any time or where to have watchtowers to thin out the bad guys enough that they don't stomp over your much needed sections of the city.

sakura-magika 2022-04-12 20:17

@cameron-paxton oh wow, thank you so much!

kingofspill 2022-04-13 16:13

Wonderful graphics, the creatures that are attacking look horrifying. I spent a lot longer with this game than a lot of the other jam games, it's really hard, but satisfying to play with and try to figure out. Nice work!

A very interesting take on RTS games. I like the dooms day Attack on Titan scenario. Very cool.

team-choo-choo 2022-04-13 22:19

ok so there's no way i'm gonna believe you guys did this in 72h only ^^# but it is incredible i'm floored

great attack on titan inspiration fully-fledged gameplay i could play this for hours :o <3

the travelling bunch get blocked every now and then it's fantastic you can build as many buildings as you like - pretty novel and fresh i'd argue it could be a bit better to be able to delete everything you want as soon as you've selected the delete tool

yeah very very impressive gg y'all, keep it up :D

Awesome take on a survival, RTS type game! The art and sounds are great. The UI was pretty intuitive, but I wish the paths auto connected. It was quite difficult to understand how everything worked at first, I probably started over 10 times to figure it out. Eventually I was able to generate fighters fast enough to push the hordes back and beat the game. Great entry!

pashaloban 2022-04-18 07:04

Amazing game

oillen 2022-04-21 18:30

after playing it almost 30 times, I would say it belongs to my alltime favourite games from ludum dare - although I am more a Settlers 3 child, I liked the Settlers 2 mechanics. I could say the enemies might do more, but I didn't do so in my game, so I have nothing to complain left. :dvd: :dvd: :dvd: :dvd: :dvd:
