LD39 — Running out of Power

Shoulda, Coulda but Didn't by Budaniel 2017-08-01T19:08:20Z

You know what bud, it took med 15 minutes to get to this god damn store, I don't give a flying falafel if you want to go to a different store!

I did enjoy your voice acting, it would have been nice with more :) The game felt hard, but not..... Challenging if you know what I mean. There were what? Two powerpacks? And even if you only stayed on the main road you barely made it. It could have been fun to have to go through some more challenging areas to get the powerpacks. Another thing was that I did not feel like I knew where I was going or how far I had left. Once my car flipped over and after that I did not know if I was going backwards or forward, maybe adding a minimap or a "distance left" meter. On one of my tries I think I ran into a bug, I tried my breaks in the middle of the road and after that my car would not move(I had about 25% power left)

Loved it, it's like those old brousergames where you could your own "robotwars" robot mixed with octodat :I

Galvanica by icxon 2017-08-01T18:00:55Z

I really liked this game, the graphics were kind on the eyes and the humor was actually quite good. I noticed that I got stuck on a lot of walls but it did not upset the game flow too much since it is not a very stressful game. I thing the only part I disliked about your game was that the ambient sound and music was a bit high pased causing me to become a bit stressed out and skipping a lot of the text. I guess it made the game seem like it was on a timer and that there was no time to read all the text. Which is a shame since you seem to have put a lot of time and effort into you text and dialogue. I know I contradicted myself in this post but I hope you understand what point I was trying to make, fun game, sound made it feel more stressful then it actually was, all in all good game...design.

Messages In The Void by Olowynd 2017-08-01T21:41:51Z

I... don't get it, I liked the graphics, the audio but I have noidea what to do, i just kept running and texting and running and texting, i could jump but i dont know when i needed to jump. It sounds stupid but reading the texts while holding down "a" was too much at once. Unless im missing something was there a point to the controles. Is it a resource management game but you have to keep pressing "a" too?

Chimster Gigafactory by Xarras 2017-08-01T22:44:45Z

I loved the art and the humor, great work! It's abit odd, the gameplay is quite intense but not so intense that it becomes challanging but enough for me to stop listening to the entertaining tv shows going on in the background. So i guess I felt like I got half of two games.

!SMARTBOTS by mechanicallife 2017-08-01T20:36:22Z

@josehzz Unfortunately we did not have time to implement a tutorial which i think the game severely needed. The best tip I can give you in text format is to places you Walker at a resource dispencery or your core and then trying out how far the comands takes the robot. The first mine only requier one bot. The mine to the left has a distance of 5 seconds, So a good code could be "Moveleft(5) pickup() moveright(5)" then adding a "goto(0)" at the end to create a loop :)

Rush by Shinmera 2017-08-01T21:20:59Z

I liked the graphics but i felt like the walljumping was unsresponcive. I did not get that far into the game before i gave up because of this.

Tales of a Hamster: A Clickable Journey by 0uicmoi 2017-08-02T21:43:57Z

I liked the graphics and the music was neat. It's abit embarrasing but I did not get that I had to buy a wheel for like 5 min. Restarted the game three times before I got it. Maybe that could have been there at the start of the game?

Turtle Jam by LeFayGames 2017-08-02T18:32:03Z

I liked this game, simlpe management, it was abit stressfull actually. Im guessing I'd have to play perfectly to recive 100%. The art was cool, abit southpark-esk. It might have made more since to have a Top-xx or avrg ratings like in LD instead of the MetaScore. I love the idea of recording these sounds! Good job to the to all three of you :)

Super Helpful Man: An Old Man Super Hero Handy Man Simulator by Poffle 2017-08-03T19:19:34Z

Great game, unlike some other narrative driven games I have played during these last few days I did not get bored and played it all the way through. The art style felt cozy and so did the dialogue and the music. An absolutely delightful experience, but I agree with @Mars the gameplay is more of a roadblock than a story enhancer. I'm also not sure why you decided to use different buttons to go back, sometimes there was an arrow and something a button with the text "back". All in all solid entry, great work :)

Lantern by Kaban 2017-08-01T18:15:24Z

God job, simple and... Frustrating, this is the first LD game that made me slam my table. I love/hate these types of games, I know I can get a higher score! One more try, you get the drift :) I do have two negtive-ish thoughts though, the ambiant sound gave the game a spooky but calm feel, but the gameplay quickly becomes stressful and messy but the sound remained calm. Also the ghost coming from the top were harder so see since the player sprite was blocking them. idk maybe this was intended.. Top ghost too hard. Good work :)

Light Switch Crusader by TedScottPilgrim 2017-08-01T20:10:34Z

I loved it, I don't care that the controls are bit clumpsy. To be honest the only thing I didn't like was the "gta - Wasted" slowmo death. It just meade it seem like the game was laggin, or maybe it was just lagging when i lost? It gave me a good laugh! The voice matched the characters look perfectly. There were also some lights that passed through walls, sure it helped me finding them but maybe it was not intended :) Good work :)

Funhouse Blackout by AndideBob 2017-08-01T19:51:51Z

Whoever voice acted this is not welcome anywhere around me! I loved the audio, the first time I died the horn squeaking killed me, I did not want to hear more, dropped my headphones and all. The jumpscare was a bit unnecessary, the audio did a better job of scaring me. Even though it was scary you managed to fit some humor into it! Questions: Is the mapLayout the same every time I play? Im guessing to win I will need to memories the roots to the key and the door? Because there is no way I can find them both in on try just looking around. It took me 4 tries before I even found the door, the key is still missing. On some attemps I was not sure why i was killed, had had plenty of pattery, are the some rooms that are instant death? Overall nice work! Also f*** f8

The Kleptocracy of Rodentia by JemSmith 2017-08-01T18:46:10Z

The graphics are really impressive, especially considering how little time you had. The game is very ambitious and for a game with such a large scope you have done excellently. However the AI does not really seem to work properly. The cats keeps getting stuck in one room. Sometimes they can't get through doors etc. Some heist the game get really easy because if this and sometimes its impossible. At the start of some heists my character spawned in a room with several cats already in it, making it impossible to get to a hiding place.

Abandon Ship by Futil 2017-08-01T13:14:18Z

The game was nicely made, with nice, simple graphics and a clean HUD. The sound worked well with the Sci-Fi horror theme. It made me feel like a facehugger.

However, the easiest way to clear the course was not by strategically plan the attack, but rather to just sprint carelessly towards the enemies and possess them, making guns and 'playing dead' seem like redundant features. There were also a few annoying bugs. For example: when I possesed an enemy while standing on the elevator I fell through the elevator and died. I was also not able to shoot over the dead bodies with the gun, as it seemed like there was still a large collider over the body. Lastly, which has also been mentioned by many above, the ingame hotkey instructions were incorrect.

Despite this, the game was still very enjoyable to play, and would there be more levels to clear along with some minor bug fixes I would definately play more.

Abandon Ship by Futil 2017-08-01T19:15:03Z

@futil No problem, this it really is a good game and I do hope that you finish you planed levels even if the Jam is over :)

QRTTNBPBYTROAYALID! by Pip Turner 2017-08-01T15:01:18Z

Hello, this is a very cute game. The graphic and audio is light and friendly unlike a lot of other darker games. The gameplay was fun for a short time but I did not feel like there was a learning curve to the game, maybe there could have been a different obstacles that needed different movement to avoid or get over. Also I loved the animation at the very start of the course.

The Breach by Vlad Chechyotkin 2017-08-02T12:57:57Z

Great game, loved the graphics and the slow progression, my corpes helps me see how much further i got each time! Great idea and it fit the theme really well. One note though, sometimes I did not know which door i opened when i plugged in the power, maybe adding a short cutscene to show me where the open door was? I also think abit of audio would have gone a long way!

Powerless: Trump Teaches Typing by RootPew 2017-08-01T21:06:13Z

Game was fun, and slightly addictive to play, with simple enough gameplay to understand and play. I understand the need for shorter words and phrases but it would've been fun to write out his real tweets as well.

And I must say: You covfefed the theme very well

LD42 — Running out of space

Blow the Hen Down by NickZangus 2018-08-14T20:45:54Z

Great entry! It's impressive that you, in just 72 hours, made more gameplay in a priate game then sea of thieves did!

Where Stars Belong by NORRIMO 2018-08-15T20:29:05Z

Hello sasinka and Norrimo, I really liked the game you put together, I'm not sure if I finished it or not though. A nice confirmation on when the game is completed would be nice. I hope i did not miss anything. Another thing I would like to add is that since you game is very bright and you have a white text it could at times be hard to read. Maybe add a border to the text or something similar to make sure that the players don't miss out on your story.

Spacetime Landlord Tycoon by mechanicallife 2018-08-14T20:25:03Z

@tinykidtoo This is a bug that has appeared and been, or as we tough, fixed may times. We will take a look at it. In the meantime try restarting the game and see if that helps :)

Spacetime Landlord Tycoon by mechanicallife 2018-08-15T11:14:18Z

@thibaultar Hello, I'm Niklas, You can let me in by opening the schedule in the top left corner, then clicking my Icon in the bottom left corner and assigning me to a timeslot by clicking or dragging.

Spacetime Landlord Tycoon by mechanicallife 2018-08-18T22:23:56Z

@shozou Thank you for taking your time to play our game, I completely agree with what you are saying. I think the "tenets arrival rate/time" was put that fast was for debugging and we forgot to put it back to a normal pace. Changing it after post would however feel like a content update and would go against the spirit of the Jam.

Spacetime Landlord Tycoon by mechanicallife 2018-08-19T21:33:25Z

Hello @brallex we made a web version just for you. You can find the link up in the description. Have fun :)

Better Than Thanos by Vekstr 2018-08-14T19:14:50Z

This I like, there are always loads of spamclicking games here on ludum but you actually did something different. I like that it made me stressed, in a good way, the audio was great idk how far you can actually get my best was just 40. I wish i had some toolkit to help me out when i played, like a bomb or thanos golve. Great work!

The Hero's incredible Chronicles by Gaming Night 2018-08-18T22:17:19Z

Are you F** kidding me!? I've seen this game posted about several times!! Hyped me up real good, and you give me this sh*t. Some people actually try to make new inovative, creative achivements in the Game jam and you just do this???? the sh*t!!!!

10/10, 5 stars would recommend to everyone.

Darkest Shade Of Night by Bartosz 2018-08-14T22:29:30Z

My feelings towards your game are mixed, I like your graphical style and the mood you manage to create with the lighting and the audio. However the gameplay loop feels a bit empty. All I do is run back and forth between my camp and the other villages. This would be fine but I have no real intuitive way of planning my routs nor do I have any idea where all of the camps are. Keeping all of them alive seems way to hard but just keeping 2-3 of the alive got repetitive quite quickly. Maybe let the player get two or three cans of oil for each trip. That way I can plan my routs and start solving the game. I think some type of map would also improve my experience. A game like yours, with the atmosphere you have created makes me want to explore the world. Not run back and forth between 2-3 points. That's my x-cents. Overall great job. Also rest in peace YamiFive!

This is my life now by Reivert 2018-08-14T18:14:30Z

I really liked the aesthetics of the game, and combined with the audio it gives you game a really calming mood. This does however not match the gameplay very well, witch is just me frenetically clicking my mouse. Then again Im not really one to enjoy cookieclicker-esk game.

Burnout by PapriGames 2018-08-14T18:49:44Z

This game fits the theme perfectly, the fact that it was short was verry nice since a death ment having to start over. And i did.. alot. The two first Skyscrapers looked like they had doors which was abit misleading.

Dementia by Kjetil 2018-08-15T21:49:08Z

wow, solid entry! A rare take on the theme. The art was very uniqe and the sounds just added opon that. Im not sure if the platformer-esq addition fit the game. To me it would have played out better if i just recived it as a visual novel. But that could just be me since i died from the birds and the rocks about 7 times. Unfortunetly there were som bugs that made me miss some of the content :/ I never got the see the "buillies" but they were mentiond in text. Some of the textfields just showed up for a fraction of a second and all i got was the scribling sound. There were also some texts where the entirety of the text did not fit/scroll so i missed a few line. All in all great work!

Satellites - Running out of Space! by TheOmelet 2018-08-14T20:19:21Z

This was actually extremely similar to an idea that was pitched in our team, however we were worried that there would be to little to do. I think we were wrong. Just finding the patterns to get as high of a coverage as possible is interesting enough to get me to play for 10 minutes. IÂ’ll probably come back if one of my friends manages to beat my record :) The art is great, IÂ’m a sucker for nice globes. The SFX and UI was clean and great to!

Space Balls by Shafournee 2018-08-14T19:06:43Z

It's a good game, a game when floaty jumps are a part a of the mechanic. The idea of haveing "earth balls" in space was also a pleasent suprice and i wish you would have played with it more :) The fact that you had time to make a leveldesign where i was free to choose different paths is impressive!

LD46 — Keep it alive

Fire Keeper by mechanicallife 2020-04-21T19:44:07Z

@deylinia Hi Deylinia, i'm glad you liked it. There is a way to restart a level early, we just forgot to tell the player about it :/ If you press "esc" or "start"(on a xbox controller) there is a pause menu with a restart level option.

Fire Keeper by mechanicallife 2020-04-21T20:26:30Z

@disperse Hello disperse, Yeah I think I am the only one on the team that playes with keyboard. One of our artists, mechanicallife, recorded a trailer for the game in which he played some of the levels. It is uploaded now :)

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

@denzil-gomes You have almost broken the loop, i believe you have missed something in the bathroom :) Well done on making it that far!

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Drawn Out by mechanicallife 2022-04-06T20:04:41Z

@martta Thank you for your feedback and kind words! I was really happy with the result, we usually scope our games way to big and don't finish everything planned. But this time we felt like we finished with a great end result!

Our idea for the theme was for the player to avoid "bloating the deck" for as long as possible. In card games such as Slay the Spire I tend to pick way to many cards that after a while makes the deck worthless. So we wanted to play with the idea of making deck bloating a forced mechanic. That was the idea at least, I do agree that the end products connection to the theme was not as strong as we had hoped.

Orbles by Rongo Matane 2022-04-06T19:39:11Z

Great submission, I had a hard time understanding how to get the orbling warriors going, but after watching your twitch gameplay I was ready to go. The audio, gameplay-tempo and graphics created a great atmosphere. The theme adaptation was great, I really did try to delay inevitable win condition just to keep building my lovely little village.

Extreme Plant Sitter by suvi 2022-04-08T21:48:27Z

Welp I guess I'm just as bad at taking care of virtual plants as I am taking care of real ones! I can see by previous comments that there is a lot more content that I never got to experience due to my lack of ability to keep plants alive. It's a solid entry, great artwork, everything works, easy to understand but hard to execute. I know the theme is to delay the inevitable, and thus the game needs to end, I just wish it was a bit easier to delay it so that I got to see all the work you put into this wonderful project!

To Build A Fire by ugly_robot 2022-04-08T21:13:19Z

Honestly, this game was too hard for me, fortunately I had a real gamer stream their gameplay via discord. That experience was completely different. While I tried to play it on my own, it was just frustrating, just like surgeon simulator and it's like. But by watching another person play, it was a relaxing experience. Like a ten-minute fireplace video with a nice calming audio track. The stacking of wood as not as smooth as I would demand of an ASMR game/video, but we can always get what we want :) The psychopath hands did not make it calming either. I'm not sure what you aimed for, relaxing or frustrating, but you got it both ways :)

Wait For It ! by Forgin Bits 2022-04-06T20:40:11Z

Really fun to play, having a few friends to compete with made it even more fun!

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Waves by RiptideStudio 2022-10-04T17:18:43Z

Great adaptation of the theme! The music agrees well with the tempo and visuals, the combination has created a calming atmosphere. Unfortunately, I couldn't locate the third battery. I felt like a knew the level by heart but could not find anything. I appreciate the effort made with the yellow highlighted doors/entries, but I would have needed more help. Perhaps you could add a few extra yellow dots to indicate where we're supposed to be going? Or maybe a sound that originates at the battery site.

Did you really add three batteries? At this point, I feel like you removed it as a not so funny joke!

I understand that you do not want to spoil anything for the other players, but if you remember me in a few days I would appreciate a hint so that I can finish the game!

Waves by RiptideStudio 2022-10-04T18:18:06Z

@riptidestudio You moved the one I already picked up! But don't sweat it, I found the last one. I_did_it.PNG

Roadeo by Krzyhau 2022-10-04T18:51:19Z

Good job! It was easy to understand, I felt like I got further every time I played. It was challenging for the right reasons, nothing felt unfair, every time I failed it was my own damn fault. The music matched the graphics nicely, but it didn't match my heartbeat:) The only thing I felt was not on point was that while playing I did not have time to look at your barking system. So while there was humor in the game I was unable to enjoy it, I simply had more urgent things to do. My best time ended up being 5:13!

Polyhedron by Skeptes 2022-10-04T19:13:05Z

Solid entry! I was quite proud of my score of 60, but WTF @maxthedoom 161!? The difficulty spikes took me by surprise, very creative take!

In addition, a warm welcome to Ludum dare! I am eager to see what you produce in the DL52!

LD52 — Harvest

Elonkorjuu - Live Harvest by Tutti Ankka 2023-01-13T20:50:42Z

Great submission! The art was fantastic! The range characters made the game a lot more fun. I would have liked to be able to change the mouse sensitivity. It was insanely high and made it significantly harder. After each level I didn't really know if I had made a good time or not. A "possible best time" or bronze/ silver/ gold after each level would be an excellent addition to an already great play. Keep up the good work, see you next jam :)

Elonkorjuu - Live Harvest by Tutti Ankka 2023-01-13T21:02:19Z

@jormarysky It even said so in the main menu.... I'll give it another try once the par time is added. I got a total of 350 in my run, but im guessing it can be done alot faster .)

LD53 — Delivery

The King is Dead by Beep Boop 2023-05-07T20:04:20Z

Great game! I am sure I am missing some sort of tactics since I can't get past the king of wolves! The only issue I had is that it's sometimes hard to deselect a card which forced my hand... Love the physicality of the cards, top notch UI. Did some similar work in a Prev LDJam, I remember having a slight "card sound (swhuish)" while drawing and hovering over the cards gave it that extra something!

Even without the swhuish sounds this was great! It was easy to understand but i'll have to play for atleast a few hours more before i'll even get close to beating it :)

LD54 — Limited Space

Cozy by mechanicallife 2023-10-03T18:43:42Z

@kgeib Thank you for playing! We had the client requests as a streach goal too :) We also had the idea to add a "feng shui"-score based on your designes eg "bed faces the door" would give a better score, but it turned out to be a lot more "gruntwork hours" then we had :)

I also notices we did not describe the "next level/next room" button on our page. Was the the icon clear enough for you to press it, or was it completely missed?

Cozy by mechanicallife 2023-10-03T20:08:53Z

@kgeib Nice! Was a bit worried that everyone only got to play the first room :) Thank you for letting me know!

STOP BURYING ME ALIVE, BEAUTIFUL! by robobarbie 2023-10-03T19:45:55Z

I was left to die in the hole... :/ !>Guessing I was grasping at any straws i could find to survive. Was playing both sides not in my favor?

At first i felt like I was a hostage trying to convince one of my perpetrators to let me live and manipulate other to save me. But after a while i felt like I was in a dating simulator trying to attract anyone who would save me. Great entry, enthralling story and beautiful art!

LD55 — Summoning

Throes of the Javelin by MatterLinx 2024-04-22T18:47:52Z

Super cool entry, the "Thor's hammer mechanic" is a excellent take on the theme. The mechanics different utilizations were quickly learned but had great depth. I found the difficulty curve and the length of the game excellent for a Jam, I never really got into a "flow" where i could fully utilize any momentum, but that's on me. Even so *almost* all of the puzzles were solvable without any momentum. But the massive knockback made any step by step solution very frustrating.. I guess you were trying to force us to "get good".

A notification that the game had ended would have been great, I tried to pole vault out of the "collectable room" for longer than I care to admit. But hey, its a Jam. Great work!

@chocolat-endive @slay-a-stone I did a reupload of the game from my account. https://niklas-landberg.itch.io/critters-vermin I think it could be an issue with new users uploading games. Sorry for the trouble.

@arkatme Yes, @mechanicallife and @emmatw created the characters in the game. The environmental assets are 3D scanned objects we found around the house we stayed at during the JAM. We used our phones to scan the sticks and mushrooms :)

It looks and sounds awesome, unfortunately there are still quite a few game breaking bugs. My first and third run the chopsticks got stuck together, only taking movement input when i held the mouse button pressed. My second round I got quite far, but one night, when they gathered around the campfire, they just stood there doing nothing, never to return to their daily activities.

This is to be expected in a Jam but given the long game loop, it's quite annoying. If you do take the time to fix these issue please send me an @ and I'll be glad to try it again.

What a fun action/puzzle concept! Super good difficulty ramp, I was a bit worried that the levels would be too simple since we had no restraints on spawning the different creatures. But at the later levels, with the spheres, I realized it was more of an action-puzzler :)

The audio/graphics suited the game nicely, well done!

Extremely pleasant visuals and audio, it created a great mood. I was very confused on how to progress until i read your description. Even if the game-loop was not finished it was still a very impressive entry via the visuals and audio alone, verry well done!

Fun entry! The intro was verry well done!

It did not seem like the zappy hands upgrade worked. Nothing happened. When I got the other hand upgrades the screen got white and yellow until it just turned bright white, is the some excessive VFX going on?

I'm guessing there is not an end to the game, got to 22 before the screen turn white.
