Really great game overall!!

bredera 2018-08-14 08:28

Love the Artstyle and the audio design of the game! Fun and intense little game!

bennet 2018-08-14 09:13

Is really fun to play but to easy when you increased the brush size. Graphics and music are very good.

mateusboga 2018-08-14 09:15

idk why but the menu buttons don't work for me

zlabya 2018-08-14 09:26

great graphics

mutskun 2018-08-14 09:27

Really good job at making a fun game xD

vekstr 2018-08-14 09:39

@bennet Yeah it was overlooked in the final hours :smirk:

In hindsight we should've probably made it constant in size with timed "frenzy" modes with bigger size after destroying a certain amount of buildings. Thanks for the feedback

monkosum 2018-08-14 09:40

This game has a lot of potential. i'm not the biggest fan of the gameplay, but this could be improved by making differend types of shots. for example an ice one which can't destroy anything, but can prevent them from extending.

The 3d-models are a bit simple, but they have this low-poly-cell-shading, and i love it. The menu is also pretty good. from there you can see what you are going to do, but it's also great as a normal menu. The music is short, but i think in this case that's a good thing. it just creates even more pressure.

Like i mentioned, my biggest problem is the gameplay. it's just not fun clicking as fast as possible. If you would be able to charge a shot are something like that, it would be good. You should really develop it further.

vekstr 2018-08-14 09:48

@monkosum Actually, that was the intention at the start; thought about natural disasters with different area/effects.

But alas, we ran out of time, hence the simple click mechanics with variable brush size (which itself is also a design problem). Thanks, great feedback!

mrhankey 2018-08-14 10:08

Very pretty game and a fitting idea. But why would you ever not use the largest brush size? :>

vekstr 2018-08-14 10:32

@mrhankey Personal challenge, maybe? :sweat_smile:

zoltancoccyx 2018-08-14 12:37

Pretty nice, even if I would have prefered to drag rather than to click :) I guess that it could have been the specificity of one of the natural disasters that you had planned

inworks 2018-08-14 12:52

Nice work on the theme but it gets easy when you put the brush on the largest setting

chronodrax 2018-08-14 13:12

Cool looking game, the gameplay works fine, but like the others said, the balancing of that brush size needs some work ^^ Impossible at smallest brush size and too easy with the largest. At first I didn't know you could increase the brush size so I desperately tried to keep a small zone clear but it didn't work long, heh. I also tried to click on the volcanoes or lava, somehow thinking that it would improve the destruction power. That could be the solution ? Like, clicking on a volcano sets your brush size to maximum then in shrinks with each use, and you have to click on a volcano again to increas the size again (maybe with a cooldown on volcanoes ^^); well just some afterthoughts. 15.05s at my 4th attempt :) (max brush size obviously!)

vekstr 2018-08-14 13:29

@chronodrax Yup, it was the intention to make use of the planet's features (tsunamis, volcanoes, etc.). Sadly it couldn't be implemented in time. Thanks!

adrianfl 2018-08-14 13:41

Hey, what a great looking game! Congratulations on that. I personally didn't enjoyed it too much, because only having one attack felt like a clicking game at the end. I've read in the comments that you planned to add more attacks and the posibility of using the planet's features, that would improve the game A LOT. But anyway, overall is a good idea, very original one, and if you improve the mechanics I think it has potential, so if you decide to continue it I'll gladly play it again.

darylsteak 2018-08-14 13:43

A very simple polished game that I enjoyed quite nicely. Although I admit that there isint much to do than click. But other than that, nice game.

Thanos OP plz nerf

titos2k 2018-08-14 15:30

nice graphics and sound!

Feedback: - something else to do than click, would be a nice addition - any advantage of small brush? - maybe add some places that you *cant* destroy? like reserves or forests

vekstr 2018-08-14 15:45

@titos2k Thanks! But having the ability to destroy everything is kinda the point, isn't it?

And yeah, the whole click and small brush thing is not how it was intended to be at the start, too bad.

pass-me-the-controller 2018-08-14 16:21

I had some problems hitting the "Play" and "Exit" buttons in Windows mode but once I switched to full screen it was all good :).

I enjoyed the game and found it a bit addictive. There's something about destroying everything in one click that's very fun. I think there's potential to expand the game, and I hope the developers look into ways the game can obstruct the player to increase the challenge. Good game :)!

vekstr 2018-08-14 16:46

@mateusboga @pass-me-the-controller I've uploaded a bug fix, would you mind testing it? Thanks for the feedback, and sorry it took a while to find the culprit

mateusboga 2018-08-14 16:55

@Vekstr Thanks for the fix! I like the game. It definitelly makes me feel more empathetic towards Thanos xD I found no bugs and the gameplay is really challenging and really smooth. I would like to see more features, like maybe powerups or meteors or something like that. Great work!

vekstr 2018-08-14 17:08

@mateusboga Nice! We're currently in the talks about continuing the game in the next few days, hope it goes well

frostbyte4k 2018-08-14 18:50

Some screen shake and physics for the buildings when they're destroyed would make it just that little bit more engaging. It also wasn't challenging if you upped the brush size and it was impossible if you didn't. If you worked on this bit more this game could be pretty fun.

landberglife 2018-08-14 19:14

This I like, there are always loads of spamclicking games here on ludum but you actually did something different. I like that it made me stressed, in a good way, the audio was great idk how far you can actually get my best was just 40. I wish i had some toolkit to help me out when i played, like a bomb or thanos golve. Great work!

liven 2018-08-14 19:24

well done!

Maybe the rotation control is a little bit fast

atillagallio 2018-08-14 19:33

The world moving control felt super smooth, I really liked that!

Some feedback here: ->I feel there is no point on using a smaller brush size instead of using the bigger one. -> The particle when you destroy something should be more "triagular", like the movie one.

hyprgloo 2018-08-15 00:26

I like it! The graphics were smooth and the whole experience felt polished. It could've maybe used a bit more variety in the destruction methods, but it was a fun, short game.

rubixnoob13 2018-08-15 04:38

Nice game, although I agree with some of the other comments, once you make the brush size bigger, it's a lot easier :)

nikyaer 2018-08-15 04:46

I DID IT - I SAVED THIS PLANET I SAVED THE WORLD.jpg

sarneh 2018-08-15 08:24

Unfortunately I can't play your game :( Could you create a build also for Mac?

disco 2018-08-15 08:54

Very nice overall visual style, found the gamplay a little dull. I may have broken my mouse. XD Great work.

shinysteel 2018-08-15 09:00

Great game but your not really running out of space unless your not doing anything. Graphics look really nice though and the music makes it really intense. The UI is very informative and well positioned, much appreciation for that. Great game overall.

bentekiller 2018-08-15 09:54

It became a very quick game when I read the comment's that you could change the brush size, and am I the only one who felt like the rotation of the planet was wrong and when you press op you want to go towards the top and not rotate the planet to the top! Apart from that a fine game!

2018-08-15 17:09

The concept fits the theme really well and I really liked the music. However, I felt that the planet rotation was counter intuitive and hard to control. Maybe some more variation would be good, such as objects that you have to avoid or that create chain reactions. The trees at the end were a nice touch.

cameron-dunlap 2018-08-15 21:43

Simple, and I feel like there could've been a bit more difficulty to it. It's not that hard with the power of the infinity stones at your fingertips, I guess. The music made it seem a bit more intense than it actually was, too.

mitjmcc 2018-08-15 23:55

I enjoyed the art and found the game humorous. The particles that come out of the brush felt a bit out of place with the rest of the art.

sharky3188 2018-08-16 00:52

Great little entry. Really nice art, and good polish on the menus. Audio was good. Controls felt responsive. The option to scroll to make the mouse larger felt a bit pointless why not always have the largest brush on (not sure if it gave you more points)? I think it would be cool to have objectives that make your mouse larger. Fit the theme well, so great entry!

paulhocker 2018-08-16 03:01

really great but my arm got tired - thanks for making it

vekstr 2018-08-16 06:26

@sarneh I just did, sorry it took a while.

Actually you can now play it on the browser (although I don't recommend it if your system is low on memory), but do you mind testing it on Mac? I don't have a Mac available so I just built it on my PC and hope for the best

vekstr 2018-08-16 06:31

@bentekiller @capernoited Thanks! It felt more intuitive this way for me, but yeah I should have made the option to invert the controls..

@atillagallio @mitjmcc Right, the particles could also use some improvements. Definitely one that was overlooked when finishing the build.

ronchiko 2018-08-16 09:59

Nice game, really enjoyed it. I agree that when the brush is bigger is much easier

tuism 2018-08-16 10:14

Really pretty, nice graphics, cool music.

Gameplay wise: - Is there any reason to not push the "brush size" up to the max? If there's no point why not set that as default? Is there any challenge to pushing the mouse wheel up a bit? - Is there any challenge other than clicking quickly and finding everything and destroying them as quick as possible?

vekstr 2018-08-16 10:30

@tuism I'm afraid the answer to both questions is none

We didn't get to implement the challenges we planned in time. The brush was originally made to help debugging the victory condition easier/faster, but we left it in the final build without much consideration, so yeah..

gamescalation 2018-08-16 15:31

Pretty good jam game, but would be too less for an actual game. i feel as there will be a physical limitation on how fast you can click vs the speed the population grows.

devio 2018-08-16 15:42

I don't see why there is a brush scale option, but other than, The game can be quite addictive especially when there is a score competition element. The audio was great at first but got repetitive. The overall good game, and could go further if you continued working on this. May I suggest a GLOBAL Leaderboard.

thunderawesome 2018-08-16 17:57

Definitely matched the theme! Very click intensive though! Playing in the browser was super laggy. Game was straight to the point and the art looked polished for a ludum dare game. Not bad!

saoi-games 2018-08-17 06:47

Thank you for sharing your game with me. I played it on my stream tonight at https://www.twitch.tv/saoigames

I have rated your game, but all of my feedback was captured in the stream.

You can hear my comments in the archive at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/298329090

drskort 2018-08-17 15:01

Good idea. I enjoyed being better than thanos. The music is very fitting and the graphics and models are really well made. Great Game :)

n-feofentov 2018-08-17 17:55

Little fun game) Gets better when you read instructions (why would I need a smaller brush size?) I wish rotation was inverted: it's a bit confusing at the beginning.

jamesolivermusic 2018-08-17 21:58

Check that the audio is looping properly, there is a slight skip as it returns. Keep working on it, it's a great concept! Adding extra variables to the challenge might help to vary the gameplay, as well as other forms of defence to give the clicking hand a break!

randomphantom 2018-08-18 11:51

Hectic clicker and my poor mouse finger. Was a little confused by the controls for spinning the world. Graphics are great and gameplay was pretty straightforward but fun.

haberworks 2018-08-18 20:03

awesome concept - i was a pretty wild world spinner so it took me some time to get good at controlling that and flicking everyone off.

i wanted to flick the volcano to make lava pour all over those poor people and increase my kill rate

jerripo 2018-08-18 23:37

Why would anyone choose a smaller brush size? This was actually a lot of fun, I replayed it at least 6 times trying to beat my own score. It was satisfying cleaning off the sphere. Imagine how satisfying this would be if it was pimples on a face. Took me a while to get used to the controls but, I guess it would be far too easy otherwise. Love the low poly graphics, and the intense pumping music. Fun game!

rayne 2018-08-19 01:03

I laughed at this reference. Cool game!

aug 2018-08-19 08:19

I enjoyed the spammy gameplay and what you were going for, but I think starting at a certain brush size and being able to gain powerups would've been much better game design, since currently it's basically "choose your own difficulty" with the smallest being impossible and the biggest being way too easy. Lots of fun, though!

zicboy 2018-08-19 09:48

Awesome game. I was pleasantly suprised with the overall mood of the game. Hope you develop a post jam version for this!

dyzzyd 2018-08-19 12:52

Great game. I am not a fan of clickers but I enjoy this one because ... you know ... Killing people :D

terrapass 2018-08-22 21:38

Didn't realize it was possible to win until after returning defeated from my first couple attempts and preparing to start writing this comment, when I noticed previous commenters talking about some brush size. Brush size? Tried again, figured out I could make the brush waaaay bigger, cleaned up the whole planet in the first attempt.

The sphere shaving mechanic is interesting at its core, though I do wish there would be a bit more to it and that it would be a bit easier on my index finger.

What deserves all sorts of compliments, though, is the presentation and level of polish in your game. I feel that everyone in your team must have done their part to produce such a well-rounded  game in limited time afforded by the Jam.

Well done!

jeplmr 2018-08-23 01:39

Interesting game. Clicking to destroy the population is oddly satisfying ;)

nihilaleph 2018-08-24 08:37

Nice satisfying game! Don't have much to add, since many have already commented on the brush size and clicking mechanics, but alas, it is a jam and it's hard to get everything on time :smiley_cat: Glad you had fun in your first LD! Welcome!

Cheers!

vekstr 2018-08-24 09:17

@nihilaleph Thanks!

And congratulations on being the 100th person who rated the game (not that there's any reward or something )

nihilaleph 2018-08-24 13:37

What an honor! :confetti_ball:

coal-creek-game-devs 2018-08-24 16:06

Cool game. Tsunamis and volcanoes would have been neat. Maybe next version.

joror 2018-08-26 12:25

Cool core of a clicker game! Would have loved a bit more (side-) objectives to be had. For example, keep diversity, or only kill one specific color, etc. The scalable nuke did make it a bit too easy, would have been interesting to tie growing that to some mechanic.

kmce 2018-08-27 19:01

Fun little game, different ways to destroy the buildings would be cool if added, something to blow up a larger area. And it might have just been me, but I felt that the controls should have been reversed.

hellsquirrel 2018-09-04 13:48

cool!

ursagames 2018-09-04 13:59

Ah looks like I missed the note when you submitted this to my stream. Still, very impressive game! Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 0:30 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/300724241
