It took some getting used to, but it was actually quite enjoyable when i got out of the jail cell, haha!

Very simple and gratifying when you beat the prince! There are a few quirky humor bits that make it quite entertaining as well. Good Job!
It's all about timing. I like that. It adds to the difficulty of the game. And I found the game humorous. I mean, c'mon. You're throwing food at each other and trying to catch it. Also, sweet tunes. They are catchy (no pun intended)!
First time spawning i was surrounded by snowmen lol. Needless to say i didn't last long. Difficulty is quite high. But, once i got it down I got 16 presents!
@ThatsMyJam Web Player should be fixed! Sorry about that.
@mutatedsoftware Thanks for the feedback! After some testing, I believe I fixed the issue with the context menu popping up in the Web Player build.
@PinPickle Thanks for the feedback! Try using Left CTRL to toss bombs and Left ALT to swing the bat. Not sure if that makes it easier instead of using the touchpad. Thanks for playing!
This made me laugh quite a bit!
Difficulty scaled quite well. I cheated and hid close to a wall waiting for my victims to walk around and get whacked by my melee, haha. But overall it looked great and felt great. I'm not used to twin stick shooters, but it felt pretty smooth even a I was getting used to the controls.
I was a little confused by the + signs being enemies. I initially went after them for health until I realized they were the death of me lol. Besides that, it was challenging having the cursor be at the center of the screen and angle my shots right. But that was what added to the challenge of it.
Maybe add some sounds and make it more obvious what heals you and what hurts you and I think you'll be golden.
I like the art and animations. The game increasingly became more frustrating as I neared completion of it. So there is that going for it. I can see this becoming quite competitive if a score system were in place.
Either way, it was enjoyable!
A nice twist of events! Takes a bit of strategy to take the hero down. Definitely a good base to work off of. I can see a JRPG about enemies being built off this framework.
Hey monkeybit29! Which platform of the game did you play? The web version?
Thanks for the feedback!! I'm actually updating the game outside this competition. Going to put it on Android and iOS. So, any feedback helps!! :)
@garret-cooper Agreed! I had a bit of trouble getting the controls working throughout the whole game jam. So that's all I could muster towards the end. Thanks for the feedback!
I wish I could fully turn around and look. Being locked to a small range to look around proves difficult. And the red cube is so random that it makes it super tough especially towards the end to dodge it. I don't doubt it's possible to win.
I appreciate the super literal translation of the theme.
It's a well made game. Lots of beautiful art and easy to use controls. However, you kind of get screwed over and have to restart races if you completely blow up parts of the track that would allow you to finish a lap. Not sure how to design around that or if it is intentional to force players to reset; however, overall it was a fun game that proved challenging and fit the theme well.
Oh man, this was tough! screenshot.png
Dang... dark ending. But it was a well-made game.!
Definitely matched the theme! Very click intensive though! Playing in the browser was super laggy. Game was straight to the point and the art looked polished for a ludum dare game. Not bad!
@johnyf I agree! I did a last minute change to the sfx and I feel like I accidentally made it imbalanced. Thanks for the feedback.
@probe2 Glad you like the look and feel! I love voxel art! Haha, yeah the music I last minute added as well. It was fun to jam to. But maybe it would have made sense to add some forest/wood theme.
@balance686 Yes! I did use MagicaVoxel. I will list that in my description of the game above. Forgot to mention the tools I used. I struggled to find a good idea that matched the theme. My mindset with this one was that you are duking it out with the snails fighting over your turf in the woods. Slugs/Snails eat decaying plants and stuff on the ground. So, it made sense to fight waves of enemies in a cramped play area. But I hear ya. Not quite focused on the theme. Thanks for the feedback!
@erikiene Thanks! I mean, why not use salt in a battle between snails and slugs? Haha! I actually wanted to go more in depth with their animations. I used some basic wobbly physics to make them feel more bouncy and alive. But I REALLY wanted to make them scrucn up their body as they move like actual snails/slugs do. Ya know? They inch forward but kinda of bend inward then stretch out to move. But didn't have time. I agree about the health as well. Enemies were too tough to defeat.
@jeke I want to expand this game as well! Polish up the movement a bit more. I can see it being a fun, simple game with a bit more work. Thanks for the feedback!
@vekstr I hear ya. I was trying to figure out what would feel most like a slug/snail. So, I went with tank controls. Might change it up later.
@vekstr and @estudios-y-producciones-gusa what kind of controls would you prefer? I'm hoping to figure out a better control scheme for a game like this. Any feedback is welcome!
@mertios Sorry about the sound issues! I didn't notice any high pitched noise. I've played through repeatedly and even played the music tracks separately from the game...but I can't hear any high-pitched noise. Yeah, I agree with you about the gameplay. It took a while to figure out what I wanted to do for this game jam. The theme didn't inspire me at all and it actually hindered my creativity. I'm sure if I continue working on this I'll change the gameplay drastically! Thanks for the feedback!
@chicomcastro I hear ya with the controls. I wanted to make it feel like a slug moves which is mostly just in a forward/backward direction and no strafing. Glad you got to play it! Thanks!
@annie-owl any recommendations of what you would like the controls to be?
@detectivelosos Really valuable feedback! Thank you for that.
@annie-owl Ah yes! Strafing. I can see how that would feel better. Separate the strafing from the rotation with the mouse and it would feel a lot better. Good idea!
@paulie-b yeah, I'm definitely thinking adding strafing would make it feel way better.
@merpader I hear ya. This theme wasn't very inspiring for me. It actually blocked my creativity.
I need to find me a brow-trimming Capybara! It is no easy task to keep those uni-brow hairs from growing.
Quick-paced game. Was tricky trying to avoid capitalism!
So depressing. But so well-done. Here's my playthrough: https://youtu.be/Jjy_hu5Wgto
This game has so much depth. Honestly. It was amazing to see how well it pulled of the aesthetic it was going for. Simple graphics, simple controls, simple UI. So simple! But there is so much around it that made the simplicity of the game have so much context and awesomeness to it. Great job!

I feel like I got a tiny bit smarter after playing this, lol.

Not a fan of fetch quest stuff, but this had an interesting pressure to it. The world is literally falling apart. So, it made it more challenging trying to collect all the stuff I needed. I may have messed up and replaced the crowbar with the crank piece...so I didn't know what to do after that.
But, yeah the 3D/2D art mash up was pretty cool. And the dialog voices are funny.
Sound fx were a bit piercing on my ears. I was spam clicking like cookie cutter but realized pretty soon that I would need to have a better strategy.
So, this reminded me of tetris! Good job!

I instantly laughed once I heard the boat sfx! Hahahaha!
A jolly good game, sir! The voice acting is really well done. Got me pumped up to take on my new role as Slap Elder!
@ehtd Thanks for the compliment. Definitely interested in fleshing this out more (without a time constraint).
@hajpappan I hear ya! The cool thing about the design of this game is that it is data driven. The downside to that is that we only were able to crank out 50 or so of the "tweets" so a lot of repeats showed up in the timeline.
I considered making a "tweet" generator system that autogenerated 1000s of tweets and users and interactions between one another. But given the time constraints @ratherjolly and I left it as it was.
We're pretty proud of how extendable the core systems are. We could honestly expand the game quite easily thanks to its architecture!!
Appreciate you playing!
@thegrandpa love the username! It fits the game well, haha!
Woo! Totally stoked that I could help with this eyebrow madness!
