Nice ussage of tetris mechanics
So, this reminded me of tetris! Good job!
Here's my playthrough: https://youtu.be/dydqnCOo3cQ
Combining the lunar lander mechanic with tetris worked really well. There's a few issues, such as the 5-wide blocks causing an unavoidable game-over if they're your first block, but this idea has a lot of potential.
I like the game concept and the art. Wasn't too sure if I winning by landing on the landing pad and then going straight to the intro screen. The same thing happened when I crashed so maybe I wasn't doing it right. Over all a fun concept.
Nice game! I had a bunch of fun with it. Flying the rocket felt very good and navigating the structures you previously built is a fun challenge. I did feel like most blocks just gave you terrible, but not necessarily *interesting* options as to where to place them. I ended up putting all of them on one side, producing a corridor that you can simply fall down in; there should probably be a disincentive for this (maybe add wind at higher altitudes?). Even then, I really enjoyed this!
Thanks for the feedback. I've added the 5 piece to make players zig zag a bit more when in lander, I was supposed to add coins/fuel for that reason but didn't have enough time. Also lander is a bit too difficult, but that's another problem
intro screen after landing is a lost game. I should've indicated it better
Took me some time to figure out what's going on. In the beginning I was loosing all the time, until I realized that tiny landing field at the bottom. Was not so obvious I have to say. I also initially thought that I have to group same pieces together. And then the rocket minigame!!!! Haha what a nice idea. So you actually have 2 contradictory games - that's pretty innovative. 5 stars for Innovation category! Well done, that was quite unexpected!
first 10 tries I had an unavoidable 5 block insta kill. All blocks fell down at a very fast pace, I see that this is not the case with other people playing it, not sure what is going on. Either way for in my case the game was pretty much unplayable. However I love lunar lander and the take on tetris is a very interesting approach!
Took me a few tries to understand. A pretty good game overall. I loved how you combined tetris mechanics with a rocket navigating game. Good job!
That was a really cool game! Nice concept that has a lot of potential. I love it when games mix different mechanics like this into one thing.
Had some issues figuring out how to win but it was fun !
Liked the idea of combining Tetris and the rocket. It changes how you would place blocks and its and interesting twist. Currently its frustrating with some pieces being unable to be rotated vertically. And it's a good idea to let the players get used to the rocket before having them land since most likely they will crash and feel frustrated at not knowing the controls and having to lose the level they spent time preparing.
Like other people said, I had to retry a few times to understand what to do. I was always sent to the intro/menu screen after landing on the pad at first (maybe I landed too fast or was the rocket too tilted?).
The 5 block wide insta-kill got me as well lol
But overall fun game, I like how you have to fly through your own design. Good job!
For me it was like for the others, a bit unclear what I had to do. Once I saw the tetris like mechanic I instinctively tried to press the up key to rotate the block by 90 degrees but then i remembered that the instructions stated only y axis... that was a bit of a let down.
guess 48 ain't enough for 90deg rotation.
Excellent concept, one of the best ones I've seen in this Ludum Dare, I love it!
There were several issues: You die if you get a horizontal line as a first piece. No feedback about whether the ship landed or crashed. No time to realise I have to switch from tetris control to rocket control, which ends up in an instant crash. The gameplay is very poorly explained on the menu page, you should put the description you wrote for this page inside the game :P
I'd like to see your game become something bigger, good job!
Interesting idea, but as i didnt read your description, and played it immediately, was a lot hard to me to understand your game. AFter that, i think i beat your game 2 times. Is it possible that your first block already 'block' your landing pad? I think one time this happened :/
The concept is rather good. With a little work this could make for a fun game. However it has some problems that need to be fixed. Start first with the control description in the UI. Its a bit hard to understand and could use some images to better define the controls.
Next issue is that controls are rough to use. Rocket took several tries to learn to fly and due to the hard handling was very difficult to land.
To go with this issue there seems to be no way to rotate the blocks. Only rotation seems to be to invert the block over the y axis. This makes it impossible to play in a few cases. Especially when the first block is a wide block that will block the landing pad.
Overall its a decent start and could be enjoyable with more work.
