Fun game. Really enjoyed sound effects, especially epic wave announces, reminds Mortal Kombat series. Good job.

Fun game. Really enjoyed sound effects, especially epic wave announces, reminds Mortal Kombat series. Good job.
The gameplay is original but hard. Good job!
I liked the unique gameplay, was quite hard to track all the bugs. A unique take on the theme. Graphics style was a bit inconsistent (3D keyboard and realistic bugs and pixel UI). Overall a great game, really innovative.
Simple and easy to understand. Lots of fun  good job guys ^^
Would be great to see everyone's scores, so please share if you can! :D my score as of now:
Score: 28490
Bugs Killed: 293
Bugs Escaped: 2/10.
This is such a good idea, and very intuitive too ! The sound design is funny, overall I'd say the inspiration behind this game is great !
It also looks like you had fun making it :) Congratulations
I did not think about making a screenshot of my high-score... :x
Amazing work! The art is quite good, and the game is fun! It's truly an innovative idea and creative execution works wonders too! The MANY, MAAAAAAAANY puns really helped put your game up there in humor (Especially the pun on the theme), and the audio is great too! Amazing job, and good luck!
Cheers! - The Koala Squad
Really enjoyable and fun game. The gameplay is great and it can be very challenging. The audio is awesome and it fits the game perfectly. The graphics are good too.
Overall enjoyable time killer with some challenge. Well done!
Thanks for all the feedback, guys! @cheetah haha thanks, Mortal Combat was indeed an influence
take that @goda
BOW TO YOUR NEW KING!!
Score: 28730 :crown:
Bugs Killed: 293
Bugs Escaped: 2/10
Oh man, this was tough! screenshot.png
I had a blast playing this game! Very unique idea and a great use of the theme. Graphics are good, audio is hilarious, and the game is challenging. On my first playthrough I experienced an exception right when the game ended but it didn't happen the second time around. Good job! bugs.png
@thunderawesome - touché! I now realise I wasn't in a position to critique your game as hard  Great work btw - you're now the user highscore holder!
@balance686 - sorry about the exception! I now realise I shouldn't have disabled a thing during building.. Will fix asap, thank you for bringing it to our attention and thank you also for the kind comments!
Excellent game driven by an innovative concept that makes it quite thematically adequate !
Pros : - Great concept, and innovative take on the theme - Addictive score system and bug-free (???) implementation - Polished graphics and audio give plenty of feedback to the player - Hilarious voice over - Balanced difficulty curve
Cons : - By definition, harder for non-qwerty users - Restarting a game takes a little too long
All in all, excellent work !
wow, nice entry ! there's a good feel to it. is the game infinite or it their a certain number of waves ?
I usually hate bugs and try to avoid games about them, but I'll make an exception for squashing some. While I think it's 100% worth it to use the idea that you had given that its hilarious, it's not really using the theme and the possibilities it offers.
Doesn't change that its the near perfect jam game given it has a great length, fitting audio and music, a unique concept and gameplay idea thats perfect for the given format and a terrible pun in the name. It's all very cheesy and knows that it is, which made it a great experience.
i liked this game so fun
Nice game! Really cool and interesting! :D
Hey, I think I beat the user highscore haha. One of the most fun games that I've played here on Ludum Dare, amazing!! I was going to comment about the theme not fitting it, but then I realized the pun: THE BUGS ARE ACTUALLY RUNNING OUT OF THE SPACE BUTTON!!! HAHAHA! Very good, clever.
[highscore.png](///raw/cc8/81/z/1a238.png)
Interesting and fun idea :D
Very unique idea! Graphics were well done, so I hated them ;) I thought the concept overall was well thought out and well executed. I don't think it hit the theme all that well, but it was a good game nonetheless.
Oh wow! thank you all very much for playing the game and giving feedback! Funny to see how some people think we did good on the theme aspect, some don't. I wonder if it's not too clear we mean the bugs are running (moving rapidly) out of the space key?... Or maybe it's not as clever as we hoped and people just think it's silly :D either way, thank you for telling us whichever way you think
@jlv - I wish it was bug free.. But I am happy you didn't encounter (or notice) any! Thanks for the kind comments, I think you definitely appeased @mackandrius , our audio man. Regarding the cons - adapting the game to more varied keyboards is in the pipeline as is also making it restart properly, not to the beginning of the splash.
@tymus - thank you for playing! there are 10 waves and thanks to your comment I realise we haven't made it clear, so thank you for pointing that ou, i'll try and adjust the description.
@peringo - damn, I wish I knew how to write such well constructed critique/praise in one comment! Regarding the theme - when they announced it on twitter, Mike attached a pic of a cluttered warehouse so it was obvious most games will deal with resource (space) management. We thought it'd be cool to "think outside the box" so interpreted space as the space key.
@eduardo-yukio - I think you had attached an image, but I can't see it anymore.. Any chance you remember your score? I can't add you as the champion without it:/
@joe-sycalik - as with others - thank you for playing and giving feedback. Just out of interest - was it clear to you that the bugs are literally running out of the space key (hence fitting the theme in our opinion)? I'm not justifying our theme interpretation if you think it's not that great, rather I'm trying to understand if maybe we haven't communicated it well.
Actually I played it again to try and beat my own highscore, woah, didn't remember how intense it was! Here is my new highscore!
highscore2.png
@eduardo-yukio - we are humbled that you would replay the game! Thank you, Eduardo, and it is no surprise you are the new highscore holder (now official as per the description) and hence gain the title of Bug Squashing King :crown:
@erikiene HAHAHAHAHA, AWESOME!! You guys are great
Very original and fun to play. I like the twist you gave to the theme.
VERY FUNNY AND ORIGINAL!
Very nice game !
Easy to understand and pickup but yet very fun to play !
The voiceover is epic on every level !
Can I get some thoughts and prayers though ?
I was rushing through the heat of wave 6 and I lost track of my fingers on my keyboard and... I accidently pressed F5 and refreshed to game...
The music is catchy and effective !
Overall, nice one guys !
This game is fun and hilarious. I can honestly say I haven't and will not see another like it, haha! I love that typing too fast has consequence but doesn't make you lose the game. Nice coding on getting the bugs to move around and everything else!
[EDIT] Oops! Sorry! I rated the wrong game here!
As a non-touchtyper I found this pretty challenging, cool idea overall.
@gonzalol @doubleblackstudios - thank you for playing and the positive comments! :bow_tone1:
@maksime - daaaaaamn, no idea how that's not something we thought about... Thank you for bringing it to our attention! Not sure if we'll be able to do anything about it, but we'll try. And thank you for the kind feedback :v_tone1:
@drums - thank youu! Rarely do we see comments that say something good about the coding directly, so very heart warming to hear that.
@wahooney - I was about to say you might have discovered some hidden level of which none of the devs are aware  Thanks for playing! We hope challenging is good in this case.
... [why no way of deleting an accidental comment?:(]
No more room for bugs! I like the take on the theme coming from the space bar it's cheeky :D something I can see myself playing a lot more of.
Disgustingly funny game :) It would be great to have clear instructions in the game itself, on the first try I tried to smash bugs with a mouse. Then I read the instructions and had some fun. Yes, it has some potential to break keyboards :)
Very fun game! There was something deeply satisfying in pushing the correct button and seeing those bugs get squished :D I noticed also that it helped me remember the correct button places without looking which is a good application for it if you decided to make it a commercial game or educational one. The music and sound effects were hilarious which add a special flavor to the game. The only down point was that it took me some time until I understood how to play so maybe add clearer instructions in here to make it easier for other people. Good job :)
yeee.png
That was loads of fun. The music on the higher waves really ramped up the tension. Nicely done people. :D
Excellent! This was flippin' great xD The audio was a constant win as well as the visuals. I thoroughly enjoyed smashing those bugs. I also love the extremely literal interpretation to the theme. Brilliant Job!
Simple but lots of fun. Loved the sound effects and voice acting! My only problem was the ` key since it's in a different location on my keyboard, but aside from that, it was great!
@figjig - and we won't be stopping you from doing so! Thank you for playing (in the past and possibly in the future?)
@roman-petrov @furiouswitch - we were hoping the controls/goal would be fairly intuitive, but as evident from your comments - they are not. We will try and add some sort of instructions soon. Thank you for pointing this out! And also for playing the game and taking your time to give us feedback.
@furiouswitch - that is a very interesting suggestion about a prospect of an educational experience. I've noted that down and the team will discuss if there's any way we can make this an educational game/device. thank you for the suggestion!
@cr0w - you might not have expected this when you posted your score, but congratulations, you are the new highscore holder!!! :trophy: The recently released bug fix meant getting a higher score has become harder (as it should have been from the start), so unfortunately for the previous title holder the highscore has been reset (sorry @eduardo-yukio! I invite you to try and reclaim your belt if you're not yet sick of the game ), and you, cr0w, are the new heavyweight bugsquishing champion of the woooooorld!
@ratherjolly a big thank you for playing and taking the time to comment. Such comments as "enjoyed smashing bugs" mean so much to us as they let us know we did something right to make the gameplay "feel" somewhat good.
@goudagames - yep.. and I'm personally very sorry for that. We realised that key is different on some keyboards a little too late and I unfortunately didn't find the time to code in a handler for all the possibilities. Fixing this is on top of the priority list, so hopefully we can take care of it soon. I thank you for playing the game, rating and pointing that fault out. You guys help us in improving not only this game, but our general line of thinking and processes.
Nice game. I was planning to spam my keyboard but you already took care of this possibility  I like the idea and I truly love the funny voice acting. Good job.
PESKY BUGS!!!
I played it again, funny and challening as always. Here is the score!!
peskybugs.png
A new challenger appears!....no...wait....it's........it's @eduardo-yukio!!! :scream: He's back to reclaim his title and I'm sorry @cr0w, but this guy is on another level by now. That is impressive, man. I haven't reached that score myself, but will make it a mission to do so. I want to see someone beat your score so that you come back and be all like "fools, this isn't even my final form" and get a score that's not even mathematically possible :fire:
@yetman - thank you for playing and the positive feedback! The finger breaker mechanic was added wayyy too late in the development and I'm scared to think how lame the game would be without it.. I'm glad we managed to add it on time.
Really liked this, the voice overs were cool and reminded me of the old arcade days, it was really fun and i enjoyed the style you went with it just seemed to all work together perfectly, and the UI fit perfectly with the arcade feel. Overall i really liked it and you should be proud of it!
Nice work!
