LD38 — A Small World

A lot of life in a small world by smdeveloper 2017-04-28T20:21:08Z

It's a good idea but you need to keep working on execution. It could develop into something great ! How about making your resources, like Meat, appear on screen ?

Feel free to check out our game : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/bubblenaut Have a nice day ! :)

Crunching Creatures by Evan Overly 2017-04-28T12:13:47Z

This is a bit messy, and I don't see a clear objective... The idea is nice however, and I like the camera placement.

Maybe rework the graphics to make the game clearer ?

This world is mine! by Sergigd 2017-04-29T16:03:21Z

This is nice ! It ended up crashing on my PC, but I played for a little while. This is great work for a single person ! :) Maybe lower the selecting sound a bit, it tends to get unnerving. Apart from that, the graphics are nice, music is as well, and the gameplay is simple and efficient. Nice job !

The Tiny World We Live In. by steven-pinto 2017-04-28T11:46:24Z

This is nice, I like the artstyle and music. The game lacks depth in gameplay, as narrative games tend to offer some choice to the player, I don't see a lot of choicemaking throughout the story... It's more of an interactive short film. The writing is good but a bit simplistic maybe. Also, the game seems to bug towards the end, I just get stuck in the 1998 room with no character appearing, I don't know if this is normal... Overall you did a decent job. :)

Firus! by MoienSaboohi 2017-04-29T16:15:35Z

This is nice ! I like the Spore-like vibe the game gives. The ambience is cool as well, nice job ! I don't see the goal of the game beyond destroying every cell... Is there anything further than the initial 5 ?

Daily Routine: the smallest worlds are the ones we get stuck in by Samurai Spark 2017-04-29T15:01:30Z

The graphics are incredible ! I also liked the gameplay, although maybe every action shouldn't take as long, if you expect the player to stay for several days... Maybe add some music, too ?

Great work :)

LD39 — Running out of Power

Tax Rebel by LeReveur 2017-08-08T21:51:44Z

Hey !

That was very fun. The concept is quite original, and even though simple, very fun to play with. I especially liked when I had to figure out if the best was to run for it or be patient.. :p

Well done !

Running from Power by dirkinz 2017-08-03T20:47:59Z

Hey !

Nice pun.. :D

The game itself is alright, controls are very responsive and it's quite smooth overall. Graphical style is nice.

I had some trouble confusing the guard, jumping over holes didn't really do anything to him, just slowed me down. I guess there's something I didn't quite understand :(

I suggest you add powerups, then you'll have the perfect espace style game experience ;)

My Dream by Local Minimum 2017-08-03T20:58:51Z

Hey !

Your game might be simple but it managed to mess my brain up just fine ! ;)

Interesting story. It's quite hard to decipher what's really happening. Like you're trying to picture it in your head but then it doesn't add up with the next sentence you get.

Overall very interesting idea !

Invaders From The Next Planet Over! by SimplePotential 2017-08-08T21:37:13Z

Hey !

The concept is really simple, yet it requires good multitasking. Well done !

If I may suggest, don't play the "alert" sound on loop, but rather only once every 30 seconds. If you absolutly want a constant cue so the player knows his energy is low, make it a visual cue so you can ignore it.

Otherwise, nice game overall. As was said above, it does get repetitive quite fast, especially seeing how forgiving the game is of spam. It's very easy to just missile barrage the whole screen and hit all enemies and collect all the bounties at the same time. Maybe the power absorbed by each shot should increase with a "heat" value ? Not sure.

Great entry :)

Feel free to check our game out : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/berzerk-hunt We need some criticism too !

Superbman by coomzy 2017-08-03T19:38:16Z

Hello !

All I can say is this : neat concept ! It reminds me of super meat boy quite a lot, yet it is very different, so good job on that front.

The graphical style is pretty nice too. All I can say about it is that the red spots on which you die stand to be improved (maybe replace them with spikes ?)

Audio is the only thing I think this game does lack, but what the hell, it's LD. No time to mess around with everything at once. Definitly look into it if you wish to keep working on it, tho !

Overall, a good entry :) Good job !

Crownless by Galan 2017-08-03T19:03:23Z

Hey !

Pretty cool game. Very original graphics ! The animations were pretty neat aswell. However, I did suffer a lot of framedrops at times, but that might be my PC. I'd say the gameplay could be hugely improved by allowing you to jump at anytime after starting an attack, handy if there is an archer right after a melee guy.

Player in the Dark by loyance 2017-08-08T21:45:16Z

Greetings !

Very nice little platformer, I didn't expect much when I read life was calling during the jam :D But I was surprised !

The only thing I have to say, appart from "well done", is that the game is waaaaaay too difficult and more precisely, too unforgiving of mistakes. It gets very close to a "die and retry" kind of game, except you don't die because of the traps ahead of you, but rather because you checked if there were any with your suicide flashlight ;) Otherwise the controls are fine, maybe increase the jump height a bit ? Some jumps were hard to make, the first one for example.

Good entry !

Feel free to check our game out : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/berzerk-hunt We need the criticism too !

Wreckage by cogcomp 2017-08-03T19:10:00Z

Hey !

Game looks and sounds pretty cool, but I had a very hard time playing it as most objects appeared very dark, which is not easy to see in space. Still, the concept is great, and sticks with the theme really nicely. I'd say fix the visual (although it might be on my end), and maybe tune down the energy loss for colliding with things a notch. Good entry otherwise :)

Keep your sanity by Lorthal 2017-08-03T19:32:33Z

Hey there !

Neat game. I like the concept of losing your sanity, it really does add to the "horror" side of the game. I was pretty spooked in my dark bedroom.

I know there's little point to suggesting changes, I can't know if you'll keep working on it, but what the hell ! The idea behind the game is cool, and the execution of that idea could be vastly improved upon !

- Randomly generate the layout for extra replayability. - Add some random events like jumpscares to knock the player off-balance. - Balance the combat a bit more or lower the spawn rate so that you don't get overwhelmed early on. - Add a reward for killing enemies, like extra sanity : right now the best seems to be to avoid them and run for the next door.

There you go mate. Great work indeed !

Defend Home: Mars by sgt3v 2017-08-03T18:57:34Z

Greetings !

Pretty cool game, it's 3D, which is pretty rare. Overall, the game works pretty well, controls are simple (tho it was kind of hard for me since I don't have a QWERTY keyboard). If I could suggest something.. hitmarkers ! The game could use more responsiveness when firing at enemies, letting you know you hit them. Otherwise, the concept is pretty simple, nothing to say about it :)

Spacy adventure by egordorichev 2017-08-03T21:03:32Z

Hey !

Good entry ! Everything is good, all I can say is that the controls of the ship don't feel very responsive, but then it might be a game design decision (to make dodging more difficult ?), can't really know.

Brings me back to when I played tons of flash games on my computer, I'd find tons of "space shooters" like this one. This one does stand out tho, with the shop system.

Great job ! :)

Electronic Supremacy by damdoshi 2017-08-03T20:17:10Z

Hey !

Very cool entry, I love management games :) Although I could really have used a tutorial of some kind, I got the hang of it quite quickly. I'll start with the cons, and then the pros :)

- Game isn't smooth, which is quite a big problem when you need to do so much optimisation in your building order.

- Robots should arrive right away, and we should start with basic defenses (maybe the core itself ?), so that we know what to expect. On my first game I was really wondering how many defenses I needed to build to survive. I didn't build enough :(

- The "cannot build it here" message is useful, yet not precise : there should be a text message appearing stating what was wrong. ("No power connector", "No mineral"...)

Now for the pros :)

- The concept is pretty neat, mixing puzzle and management game is something I have never seen before. - There is a feeling of exponential growth at the beginning of a level : you set up your first power plants and reserves, and it just goes quicklier and quicklier. Feels great ! - You managed to make an entire management game with a lot of wondering what to do next, with only 5 buildings. Well done !

I hope you'll keep working on it. Better graphics, audio, and smoother framerate would bring that game into something you could sell !

Robots from 1991 by dminsky 2017-08-03T20:54:32Z

Hey !

Great entry ! I really love the doom-like graphics and gameplay, and also the fact I didn't have to download anything :p It's just too bad it doesn't really fit the theme, but I guess some people weren't inspired by it. It's all good either way, the gameplay is quite enjoyable. I also like exploration being rewarded with extra health and ammo :)

Power Runners by Steel_Dev 2017-08-03T19:55:53Z

Hey !

I like the concept a lot. Brings a certain rythm to it all. I couldn't really find any bug, and controls worked alright.

Here are a few suggestions :

- Tune down the demon spawn rate a bit but increase their health, that way the game isn't easier, and you have more time to go pick the items up if your generator is not going to get back on anytime soon.

- Make the light from the flashlight clearer. Sometimes I wondered how I was damaging an enemy.

- Randomly generated levels ?

Overall, a good entry :) The idea behind the game is quite original, too !

Charged Up by reecer9714 2017-08-03T20:33:27Z

Hello !

Cool game :) At first it might seem like a classic "protect it" kind of game but the extra "charging the core" mechanic makes it quite original indeed. The idea itself is very good and I have nothing to say about it, but I have a few suggestions about the executions, should you want to keep working on it ;)

- Work on audio. Audio might seem unimportant because it's just for the ears, but audio is very important for a game's responsiveness and general feel. Enemies should make a noise when spawning, taking damage, attacking... I know you had limited time for the LD, which is why I'd say the sounds are pretty cool for a LD entry ;)

- I had a low framerate (about 20 - 30 I'd say), which made the game feel unsmooth. Not so bad here because it's not very fast paced, but it could use some looking into.

Overall, a very good submission, I liked it a lot. It fits the theme greatly. Good job !

Feel free to check our game out : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/berzerk-hunt

We could use the criticism too ! :D

A Robot's Final Stand by Demandooda 2017-08-03T19:18:12Z

Hey !

Cool game overall. The concept is, I think, very damn original. Could be expanded upon a lot, which is why I think you should consider continuing the work on it and try to sell it maybe. Expand on the graphical and audio aspect, as it's where the game is lacking the most (but it's pretty good for a LD game !), balance the systems better (I could basically survive forever with shield + magnet systems on), and finally get some progression in (module upgrades / modifications, more enemies...) and you got yourself a very nice, yet simple game with quite a lot of replayability.

Berzerk Hunt by TheFunAttic 2017-08-04T16:05:20Z

The dash, the attack and the projectile are all directed towards the mouse cursor. I realise it might not be easy to spot on the web version, but you can download the .exe which contains a custom cursor that is much easier to spot.

Imperium by Studio 310 2017-08-03T20:22:57Z

Hey !

Very good entry overall ! Graphics are neat, audio is pretty good (I like the voice acting :D) and it all feels quite responsive.

The big downside of this game, I believe, are the controls : maybe using the mouse would have been better ? I couldn't really say honestly. Also, it seems like stabbing is better than slashing, because of the extra range.

Otherwise, I liked it quite a lot. I wonder, the names you can see on the list... are all these names created by players ? Or is it all pre-made with yours then being added to the list ?

Cheers for the good work ! ;)

< Mr. Plug > by Drachmor 2017-08-03T20:00:48Z

Hey !

All I have to say is that the lack of audio is very unfortunate, but I'm sure it could be easily fixed. I think some... electrical music would do ! (see what I did here ?)

Otherwise, I like the concept. I did have some trouble controlling the character, as the game had a pretty low frame rate on my end and wasn't smooth, but that might just be my computer. Overall, this is a pretty good entry :)

Jazzy Beats by Moski 2017-12-10T17:59:27Z

This was really great ! The game is beautiful and well-presented, even the itch.io page is cool-looking ! Gameplay-wise the concept is interesting, maybe the UI is a bit overwhelming from the start. Also there was no alternative controls for AZERTY keyboards, so I had to restart after changing...

I had some fun and enjoyed the music, too ! The game may lack some sound design, especially impacts. Otherwise this is one of the coolest entries I've seen. Congratulations :)

Flirt the(m)all by themarioga 2017-12-28T17:24:47Z

@RobinHoodPT thank your for your constructive feedback. I will soon update the game, taking it into consideration. About the delay thing : it's a rare bug, you're unlucky to have gotten it :/ usually, each wave comes after 10 seconds of waiting. Try downloading the game to get the real experience ? :)

Technologis by TheFunAttic 2017-12-27T23:43:55Z

@SecretPocketCat

Thank you for your constructive feedback ! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

About the delays : sometimes the game starts with this bug, it takes insane amounts of time for the fruits to come out... This is indeed a bug which I can't seem to fix. If you want the experience as it was intended to be, try to restart the game :) new fruit batches should come every 15 seconds or so.

Winter Sleep by cenullum 2017-12-28T17:28:27Z

Farms and Polders Tycoon by sebbernery 2018-08-17T19:25:57Z

This is quite nice, I like the Tycoon feel that connected with me instantly. It took some time for me to get a handle of it (especially the water mechanic which I don't know if I fully understand it still) but gameplay is smooth and agreeable. Graphics fit well with this genre and rythm.

I'd also like to comment on the quality of the music, which really helps catching on at first !

Good job :)

Humans Need Space! by Ayxs 2018-08-24T11:12:04Z

Hi ! This is a lovely submission, I like the concept behind it, it's pretty original and fun to experiment with. It all happened very fast so it took me some time to understand what strategy to adopt, but I found it overall interesting.

Graphics and sound design fit well together, and give off a vibe I haven't seen elsewhere... It's a bizarre take on space, which I appreciate. The sound effects are quite funny :) Congratulations !!

Growing Out by superpokeunicorn 2018-08-18T11:26:13Z

Really cool !! Obviously the retro graphical style and soundtrack are excellent, achieving perfectly what it set out to do - the use of color is particularily effective. I'd like to note the quality of the level design. It's really witty, the same level changes as you gain abilities. The layout alone is a pretty impressive feat, I'd say ! The game is really intuitive and interesting. One of the ones I played the longer, too, it got quite a hold on me. Congrats for your work :)

Cronus' Tomb 2 by Mr_Field 2018-08-18T09:57:03Z

This is really impressive on several points, not only the sheer scope of this adventure, but also the variety and quality of its content ! It really feels like a RPG, but reduced to a minimalistic and perfect pulp - one minute bits of everything the player expects from a game like this. Graphics and sound design suit this very well, simple but very efficient. The "clue" mechanic is cleverly designed - it calls for a ton of implicit choices, despite (again) the scarcity of information. This one mechanic is the link between everything else in the game, which I find makes the whole a beautiful piece of game design.

This is one of the few games that I can't really point out weak points in - it does perfectly what it wants to do. I could only wish for it to expand further :)

FIND - A - MOLE by Siridakis 2018-08-17T20:03:43Z

Cute game, simple and intuitive mechanics that got a hold of me for a few levels :)

Maybe something should differenciate dirt and stone in their behavior ? Making them different mechanically would go along well with their graphical difference. What's the mole's name ? :D

Super Responsible Parent by dietzribi 2018-08-24T11:31:15Z

This hooked me from the start and I couldn't stop !! Everything works really well, the graphical aspect is funny in itself and the scenario makes it a hilarious submission. Gameplay is innovative and intuitive, with just the right amount of difficulty over time. This is deceitfully well done. Congratulations :)

The Swarm by Wahooney 2018-08-21T17:29:11Z

Man, this game has some seriously worked-on ambiance... It struck me how well the graphics, soundtrack and gameplay style fit together. It's tense and eery, just what's needed for this kind of game.

I enjoyed this submission's gameplay as well, it's quite fun and addictive !! I wish there was more ennemy variety, and such other things you might have thought about that would expand the game further... Anyway, this is high-quality work for a 3-day jam, congratulations ! :)

Flesh Packer by nervous-composers 2018-08-24T10:44:23Z

This is a pretty cool vibe to it, very dark yet humorous. Graphically it resembles Plug&Play, if you've heard of it :)

Mechanically I think it lacks innovation from the player, meaning that whatever the player does he's going to end up in the same situation, doing things in the same order... I'd like to see more possible actions and ways to conceal it all !

I really really like games with a strong intention and this one certainly has it, it's very unique and I can feel a strong artistic drive behind its creation. Great work !

Bug Squasher by erikiene 2018-08-16T17:09:54Z

This is such a good idea, and very intuitive too ! The sound design is funny, overall I'd say the inspiration behind this game is great !

It also looks like you had fun making it :) Congratulations

I did not think about making a screenshot of my high-score... :x

Last Piece by WetBox 2018-08-16T16:46:58Z

This is a cool submission ! I wanted to show you the great city I built, but the game crashed when I alt+tabbed... :( I had great fun though !

The really strong aspects are the atmosphere and soundtrack, which is very catchy despite its simplicity, and charming graphics and UI. It all runs very smoothly and building is a pleasurable experience. Overall the esthetical experience was well executed.

The concept is really original as well, so I'd like to make some remarks about the game design :

1. The game seems to point to the Reactor as the reason why the player should accumulate resources : upgrade the reactor, go faster, get there quicker. However : - speed does not affect anything other than the time of arrival - survival solely depends on the ability to re-build the island, not on speed - the ability to re-build the island (blocks) costs the same resources as upgrading the reactor, which is really expensive

This all makes upgrading the Reactor a really poor choice, despite it being central to the island. A far better strategy is to never touch the reactor, and build rows of resource-producing buildings until you can re-build the island faster than it falls. Then, speed never matters again.

This could be avoided in two ways : either remove the Speed mechanic from the game altogether, and increase building/abilities diversity, or make it have some crucial importance during gameplay. Maybe speed gives momentum which holds the island together ? Or it makes resource buildings function faster ?

2. Energy and metal are different names for the same element : a resource you accumulate every second with buildings, and that is used to build more buildings (I am aware that the reactor costs energy only, but its cost is negligeable). Maybe both resources should vary more.

I am aware of the time constraints though, and this is very well done for a 3-days (solo ?) game. Congratulations !!

6 K by pataya 2018-08-17T19:52:16Z

Not only is this an exciting game, it is most of all the perfect kind of entry for this format. It's easily accessible, understanding the mechanics takes seconds, then it goes on for 5 minutes of juicy fun - enough to entertain thoroughly, giving satisfaction before there is any chance of getting bored.

Its esthetical side is also enticing, the FXs and sound design making for a spectacular experience... Again, a lot of good stuff happening really fast. I'm bluffed !

Blocks by Anubhav Kashyap 2018-08-23T18:08:38Z

This is quite unique, it really stands out from anything I've seen with this camera angle... It's also pretty fun, I lasted 1.22 :) This achieves very nicely what it set out to do, given your time frame it's quite a big feat ! Congratulations

No Destination by TheFunAttic 2018-08-15T14:55:36Z

@goda Thank you for your feedback ! I will release a small tutorial fix later today, can you tell me the parts you found hardest to understand at first ? thank you ! :)

No Destination by TheFunAttic 2018-08-15T19:28:53Z

@narudgi Thank you :) I'll try to improve on the tutorial later

About the waifu... You might want to try "Extreme" mode ;)

No Destination by TheFunAttic 2018-08-17T09:17:17Z

@firepit-games @mackandrius Thank you so much for your heartwarming comments :D about the characters animations, we did think about it but lacked time... Perhaps in a later update for the game ? I will look into the audio issue you are talking about. Have a nice day !

No Destination by TheFunAttic 2018-08-17T18:40:25Z

@boumusic @somuch @sebbernery @kubenexion @heidi Thank you @somuch for your appreciation !! I am glad you got into it despite the initial complexity. I am thinking about a reworked, slow-paced tutorial that would make the game more accessible, but I can't release it before the jam ends, as that would be kind of cheating...

Anyways, thank you for your support ! :)

Penguin Odyssey by ventura 2018-08-24T11:19:47Z

This is very short and simple, but it gets so much right ! The difficulty curve and mechanics are very intuitive and varied, every level really is different. Graphics are very cute and efficient, and serve the gameplay perfectly. I'm really surprised by how much I like this submission after playing it, I don't why but it put a smile on my face :) good job !

Final Voyage by Simon Rahnasto 2018-08-21T17:09:18Z

Hi !! This is a really cool submission, I like how it all feels like the original Starcraft... It brought back some happy memories :)

Maybe I would have liked to have more information on how to win the game, as this was pretty difficult to figure out. Otherwise the game is well balanced and fun to play, I had quite a good time !!

Graphics are nicely done, and the audio part is awesome. You did a tremendous work on the voicelines, which really makes a difference in my appreciation of your game. One of my favorite so far I'd say :) Great job !!!

No One's Land by tenshi42 2018-08-17T19:08:52Z

I'm really really impressed with this game's audio - of course the music being the main part. It makes it all really engaging. I spent some time idling in the menu just to hear it... This would work as a standalone musical jam entry. Great work guys !

The rest of the game also works preeeeetty well, graphics are simple and nice - the UI and input customization menu is such a great feature. Gameplay-wise, those mechanics are really simple to apprehend and this feels like a great basis for a party game. It also runs smoothly, with an impressive absence of bugs... This is really well made, congratulations !

MondrianCraft by kromeboy 2018-08-24T14:10:23Z

This is a really imaginative game, I struggled with it for what felt was just the right amount of time :) The concept is novel and the Mondrian theme fits just perfectly with it. I admire how creative this is. The only aspect I'd really like to see improved upon is sound design... Other than that this is a really charming submission ! great work :)

Bloody Hooligans by Natwomb 2018-08-18T11:08:06Z

This was so amusing !! Game feel is excellent, once big crowds attack you it's pure fun, while remaining very challenging. It's also intuitive as hell. Controls are smooth and seem fair, this is a game with a high skill cap, and it shows. It's really good gameplay-wise :)

Graphics are also quite well-done for a jam game. Hooligans may lack variety, but the car and decorum are really well done. Sound design makes hilarious references !

I really like this submission, congratulations :)

Oddblock by Joe Sycalik 2018-08-24T11:49:12Z

Hey ! I really liked the mood in this one, it kind of remininded me of Spore, I wouldn't know why... Gameplay is fun and inuitive, its runs very smoothly and breaking blocks is a pleasurable experience. It gets really stressful and enticing, I played it for a few games and had real fun :)

It's all very simple yet polished, and the soundtrack is fantastic ! Well done :)

Consensual Love in a Dungeon (NSFW) by darefus 2018-08-24T10:28:31Z

This is so good !! First of all dialogue is brilliantly written, it's witty and interesting, it alone kept me hooked ! I see a lot of potential in this writing...

Esthetically it's very well done, the backgrounds and characters are diverse and it all feels very fresh. Not many people are commenting about this, but as pornography it's also made with great taste - not falling into the overly explicit, eroticism serves the narrative well.

Overall this is one of my favourite entries, I really enjoyed your work :) Congrats !

XORN: The Fallen God by ThibaultAr 2018-08-29T12:48:33Z

Hello ! this is pretty impressive graphically, I like the atmosphere and characters design :) I found the gameplay slightly confusing, especially upgrading... But it's really juicy and fun !! Simple to understand, I jumped into the action directly and had a blast.

This is a really cool submission, congrats :)

Personal Space Invaders by The_Icy_One 2018-08-24T10:07:05Z

Hello ! There's a few things I'd want to see improved about this game, for example more tutorial elements (I died trying to pick up the red thingy ennemies left behind, believing it was a powerup...), faster gameplay, smoother control... All of this made it tedious at first, but once I got a hand at it I had fun !

There is a good balance between gameplay, graphics and sound design for such a small amount of time. Good job !

Pool Watch by Plukers 2018-08-21T17:23:42Z

Once I got it figured out, this was really fun and addicting !! It's quite an innovative idea, I can't think of any game that is played like this. I like how it feels like a table pool game, while set in a real pool :)

This has me entertained for quite a while, I thoroughly enjoy this submission, especially its creativity and treatment of the jam theme. Great work ! :)

Oh No ! More Food : A Vegan Story by Maksime 2018-08-24T10:55:13Z

Hello ! I've spent some time playing this, I appreciate the simple and innovative core mechanic, it's truly challenging :) Maybe there should be some way to regain HP ? either by eating special objects, or getting to the next level. Besides that the game is very fun and quick to understand !

I enjoyed the heterogenous graphics and humor as well :) This is a cool submission, congrats !

Youber Driver by Firepit games 2018-08-16T16:59:57Z

I don't really know if I went through everything... I managed to deliver three guys to their destination, then explored the map but didn't know what to do.

Graphics are nice and simple, the size of the map is impressive and assets are varied. It kind of gave me a Lego Racer 2 vibe.

The car's a tad difficult to handle, most of all being really slippery. Have you tried increasing the drag of the rigidbody, if you're using Unity ?

Otherwise I found this interesting, filled with nice details like the T pose statue ! Good job :)

Dessert War by Krapht 2018-08-18T10:54:26Z

Hey !

This is a very interesting twist on the Go game (which I assume you drew from). From it arises a whole set of new strategies, I imagine that the potential meta would be very profound. The execution is quite well done, though I find movements to be a bit fast to understand. Graphics are cute and serve the mechanics well, being very clear, notably with a coherent color theme. Overall it's a well-done game with a great idea beneath it :) congrats !

Alchemist Dungeon by hexkritor 2018-08-24T14:26:14Z

This is quite a good submission, everything is pretty solid, from the cute graphics and retro soundtrack, I like the overall feel of the game. I didn't see much reason to keep collecting coins after 40, but I did it anyway and stopped at 200 :) I found that the game could be a bit harder, maybe by limiting the player's health. Otherwise I had fun discovering your level ! Is the point of gaz apparition random ?

Congratulations for this charming entry !!

Elevator Operator by Evan Charfauros 2018-08-17T18:56:01Z

This is a charming entry ! Its concept is well thought out, and it does look like something programmers came up with :)

The idea of the elevator itself is quite a nice justification - I don't really understand its connection with animals, but it does fit together nicely in the end. The universe draws from the absurd anyway (which comes particularly from your dialogues), so it doesn't really matter - on a purely esthetical sense, everything worked pretty well. The music is also catchy enough to not become boring after a full game, which is definitely a plus.

About game design, it does seem like there is a lack of punishment if the players wastes too many "rounds" - someone could complete the game one animal after the other, and get more or less the same feedback from the game. I ended up with a score of 38 : did I suck ? or was it a good score ? I feel like the game would really gain from indicating the quality of one's effort.

This is a really nice idea and a effort to go along with it~ Congrats ! :)

Exodus Terminus by somuch 2018-08-17T19:41:11Z

I'd like to note the soothing atmosphere - which produces an interesting contrast with the topic of the game - as if your work, sometimes consisting in letting children die - was a calm and relaxing experience.

The idea behind this is interesting, it reminds of Papers, Please (which I believe must be your inspiration) and gives off the same impression of being an unvolontary monster. The morning news, notably, achieve this really well, as well as creating a narration efficiently.

This is a well thought of and well executed game, I salute your effort and your cause ! It's still kind of rare to find clear political statements in videogames, and yours seems to be particularily aware of what makes someone act in an "evil" way - being presented with a choice between two bad outcomes.

Congratulations on this thought-provoking entry !

Running out of Space by tom7 2018-08-18T10:47:23Z

Graphics are derpy and fun - I like how the human seems as empty as the space he's staring at -

I had a lot of trouble understand what I had to do at first - maybe some instructions in english could help towards that. Then I found it was a decent, short point&click experience.

Good work ! :)

Hot News, Good News by RiptideStudio 2018-08-21T14:56:06Z

This is a very original concept with unique graphics, this game really stands out ! Despite some issues with placing items on the newspaper, the gameplay it quite intuitive and challenging - I found the balancing very on point, I never felt the game was unfair to me. I like the graphics a lot, I'd like to see them expanded upon, maybe with more variety in the newspaper items, if you can come up with more funny headlines :)

The music, as well, is really fitting the whole, providing a soothing atmosphere that makes it all a relaxing experience. This is well done, congratulations !!

Thanks everyone for your kind comments !! :)

Collatero by TheFunAttic 2018-12-14T13:32:24Z

Thank you everyone !! Your comments are very encouraging !

@digitaldude555 Thanks for your rating, we did have issues scaling the game's difficulty once the player's skill became higher. This game is meant for one or two playthroughs, after which it's a bit easy, and waiting does get long. Glad you enjoyed it anyway ! Have a great day

Documentia by Pandanym 2018-12-09T00:02:12Z

Not only is this a very well thought-out concept, it's also an impressive feat of programming, narration, art and sound, for something made in a few days by 3 people. I find the game to be masterfully self-containing, it really feels like a small world of its own, and it knows himself to be. One can attach himself to this universe just before he has to destroy it. You really know what you're doing !!

Of course, everything from character design, dialogue and soundtrack is really well-made, and neatly falls in place. Nothing seems like it's missing, and there's many question I ask myself about what this could be if the scope was larger... What if characters didn't have only good intents between them ? What if they took decisions on their own ? What if file manipulation could be taken further ?

I found the secret ending ;)

Congratulations !!!

Death Metal Crowd Pusher by WizardOfOzzy 2018-12-05T22:39:40Z

Cool submission ! It looks very nice and polished, your art is excellent. The music also goes very well with it all.

Gameplay wise I found it kind of confusing : I just mashed the left mouse button until the game was over, not quite sure about what strategy to adopt.

I would love to see future improved versions of this game !

Congrats, Have a good day :)

Vikrifice by Lucidus 2018-12-05T22:49:23Z

Cool little game, no aspect has been left out which is nice. Both the music and sound design are enjoyable, gameplay is classic but effective ! The controls are especially agreeable, which is a hard thing to achieve when it comes to platformers.

Making several levels also is quite impressive given the time you had. I commend on that.

Something I could find to criticize is your coherence : what do vikings, jungle tribes, cats and pigs, etc... have to do together ? Maybe you would gain from defining your universe more precisely.

Good work, congrats :)

Total Party Kill by adventureislands 2018-12-13T15:22:37Z

Excellent submission ! The idea fits the theme well, and execution works without adding anything superficial. The impressive level variety makes for a very solid experience ! I feel like the only thing that could have been more fleshed out is the music, but all the rest - from game design to level design, character and everyronment design, is quite perfect for this scope !

Congrats !
