This is my compo game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/space-honey-the-adventure-of-little-bee

thefunattic 2017-04-28 16:25

I like the concept. Graphics and music are nice ! Cool work ! :)

matoux42 2017-04-29 15:42

Nice Game !

Your concept is nearly like ours . You can test it here : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/ultra-ninja-vs-falling-zombies.

burgee 2017-05-01 12:03

Played it a few times and managed a high score of something a round 575.

The game controls nicely and I think you have it set up well as far as run speed and such. The difficulty ramps up nicely as well. Really I don't have any complaints about it at all. It's an enjoyable way to spend a few minutes playing which goes a long way in events like this =)

Nice work!

dragojt 2017-05-01 21:55

Thank you guys! @burgee My record is about 450 XD

smeax 2017-05-01 22:00

Nice little game =) Graphics looks good and the controls are very smooth. Sometimes the meteorites are spawning a bit to near to the planet so you can't get them but thats the only complaints I have. Well done!

spaceman 2017-05-02 00:54

I liked the difficulty curve. It didn't get too hard too quickly.

abhimonk 2017-05-02 01:19

Really nice job. Nice and simple, with great, intuitive controls. I see a lot of people doing the "circular walking" controls very clunkily, but this game controlled very smoothly. I also liked the music, although the loop was a little short. Nice character animations and explosion animations. I thought the ramp-up in asteroid spawns was perfect too (I only got to 404 points though haha). I think this type of idea was implemented a lot this ludum dare, but I think you did a really good job with it.

red-fan-games 2017-05-02 01:23

Ah, buttery smooth controls paired with appealing animations. A treat indeed. Asteroid spawning timer was spot on. A solid game overall.

subwooferx3 2017-05-02 07:03

The only complaint I have was that the game did get a bit disorientating after a bit of playing, but it wasn't unplayable or anything. Enjoyable and far from bad.

fiote 2017-05-02 15:53

Nice entry! For a high score, my tip is to spin like crazy. That way you have more chances of actually seeing the meteors coming ^^

dragojt 2017-05-02 22:13

@smeax I'll try to fix the meteorit spawn near the planet. I thought about it.

@fiote Thanks for the tip, maybe I test it in new updates!

Thank you all for the feedback :)

aaranos 2017-05-03 00:26

There is some random chance of a meteor spawning right near the planet with no time to block it. I like the idea of the game and the visuals. The music is also a nice touch.

The background really brings out the spinning effect and lends to the experience.

orquigames 2017-05-03 02:05

I like you game! It's very addictive

yoanndeplo 2017-05-03 20:15

Nice little game, my best score is 374. It would have been better if the meteorites spawned further.

tylerraz 2017-05-03 20:16

Fun and quick, the art and music go well together. I think the difficulty is well balanced, and asteroids that spawn on the opposite side that are hard to get are fine; but as @aaronos said, its pretty frustrating when the asteroids spawn under the player's level.

nevaermorr 2017-05-03 20:19

Good, simple game. The controls are easy, everything works fine. What it could use is something that would diversify the gameplay. Nevertheless it's a solid base for a game, good job!

secret-tunnel 2017-05-03 20:22

Great job with this! I had fun with it. I think the game would really benefit from having a square aspect ratio so that you never get the situations where they're hidden by the top of the screen. Great art and music!

annet 2017-05-03 20:31

Nice game. Simple and relaxing

geckoo1337 2017-05-03 21:05

Simple. Addictive. Well done. A funny entry. Bravo ++

dragojt 2017-05-03 22:26

Enemy spawning near the planet solved! :)

occultone 2017-05-04 01:02

I Played this on Livestream Today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_6NTcovuI0 (The game bugged and couldn't be recorded by the livestream)

I think my big complaint was the Camera. Making the camera spin on the Z Axis made me very sick to my stomach. Maybe make them parallax instead? Everything else was super solid.

rockhoppergames 2017-05-05 09:39

This type of idea seems rather popular this Dare, but that's understandable. I did find the rotating effect a little nauseating, but perhaps that's something you can lean into? There's room for games that feel unpleasant out there too!

My high score was 741, by the way, if anyone wants to challenge that ; )

nightshadow0 2017-05-15 21:18

This is really cute, i love the art style and the sound effects. The gameplay is solid, though i did find the movement speed too fast, to the point of being a little disorienting, and sometimes meteorites would spawn really close to the planet and be impossible to reach. Nice work overall though!

dragojt 2017-05-15 21:19

Thanks all of you for the feedback! I'll try to upload a new version changing the background speed :)

dragojt 2017-05-15 21:21

Almost 20 ratings on everything, come on! :)

superbusyrobot 2017-05-16 04:42

Not too bad. I recently saw another with similar mechanics, and it also kinda suffered from multiple space objects eventually spawning to the point of being undefendable, which ramps up the difficulty real quick. That is avoidable, and you could do other things with the game if you allow players to live longer, but mechanically speaking it's sound for an arcade-style game.

buteratosgames 2017-05-16 10:51

Nice idea! Very cool! 5 stars!

hackschnitzel 2017-05-16 18:36

Very nice game... Liked it. I did not play the other Background speed - but I guess this is now fine. (My stomach is fine ;-)

pascalman 2017-05-16 19:43

I not have Windows but game looks really good! I like tiny worlds! Great job!

rubel-nmb 2017-05-16 21:30

Thanks for playing my game! I rated your game too how I promised.

Nice simple game, great!

furiouswitch 2017-05-17 23:52

Great game! I love the style very much and I think it has the potential to be something much bigger.

mateus-trigueiro 2017-05-18 11:56

Nicely done! A simple yet fun game is a great way to go in a Jam. The art is good and the rotation of the background and the planet didn't feel nauseating or unnatural - maybe because my focus was always the character or the asteroids. The music was nice too - there was variation enough for it to not become repetitive.

The speed of the player character is nice - but the problem is that you sometimes can't see the asteroids coming. Maybe widen the camera a bit and make them spawn from outside of the scene (they sometimes spawn right next to the planet)?

I think the only thing I really missed was another mechanic to spice the game up a bit. Maybe some powerups that also fall like meteors and have to be collected before they reach the planet or they'll be lost? These powerups could offer help in later waves, when the asteroids become faster and more numerous.

Great job overall!

PS: I scored EXACTLY 666 on my first run. Just a fun fact :)

lucentbeam 2017-05-18 16:00

Tightly scoped and very complete little game! Nice work. Sometimes it seemed like the asteroids spawned very close to the planet, though, and didn't feel like I had a chance to respond. But, given a widescreen resolution with a radial and centered game, that's understandable (in fact, the game we made suffers the exact same issue).

chumasquito 2017-06-08 19:51

Nice! :D Mi récord ha sido de 546 en el primer intento y ahí se ha quedado xd Visualmente muy chulo y la música mola un montón! :D Para la próxima vuelve el DreamTeam jajajaja
