Maybe a bit too clever. Having to play an adventure game in an alien language is a bit much for me. I figured out the verb meanings but didn't have the desire to work out the entire alphabet (letter substitution).
I'm not smart enough. I got the fire out, got the keycard, and found the thing on the wall. I wasn't able to pick it up though. Figured I had to put eggs down where it looked like there were spots for them, but i couldn't figure that out.
Funny idea, to have an alien workset to figure out. However, I couldn't really finish it - I think I understand what I should do, but I didn't manage to. Maybe thus I don't understand how this is related to the theme. I really like the styling and animations.
Mild hints: It may take a little patience to figure out the interface (having some familiarity with genre conventions will help a lot), but you souldn't need to do any 'translation' of the alphabet.
If you're impatient (which is fine :)) you can open up the console in your browser, which acts as universal translator. Control-shift-i in Chrome.
Abit too difficult to understand
Thanks tom7 for the Console trick, I wouldn't have had the patience otherwise.
I didn't quite get the "Running out of space part" till I got to fitting the last object, nicely done!
Really nice game! Reminded me of games like Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion. Took me a while to translate the alien characters and even longer to figure out how to get to the upper deck, but I completed the game eventually!
Good job @andy-d ! (And @ixio even if you peeked under the hood :))
@andy-d, I translated it too but I still can't figure out how to get to the upper deck, any hints? [edit] never mind I figured it out [/edit]

Nice! Quite an interesting puzzle to solve, though for me it just felt like trial and error most of the time. (It actually took me a fair bit to figure out I could walk places, I assumed it was just clicking on objects at first.) It was a bit frustrating until I sort of got the hang of what the options were - though I never figured out what the second one was and the latter two seemed like very similar item-based interactions. There were enough a-ha moments of funny environmental interactions that kept me playing though. I liked how the inventory tetris difficulty ramped up until the "final boss" of sorts. Graphics and music are on point as usual, though I craved some more music during the actual gameplay. Nice work! :D
Some other random notes:
-the peapod looking thing on the lower level was a bit of a red herring (and annoying to walk around), I thought I was supposed to lay my eggs there at first. Still don't know what that thing is supposed to be!
-why can't I just kill the dumb captain? (pulling the guy down made me think I could kill at will)
-method and apparatus for opening the airlock: patent pending :musical_note:
@adhesion Yes, the pea pod thing was just there for me to test the path planning in the presence of cycles (and annoying to walk around specifically because the path planning doesn't deal with cycles well, ha), but I was running out of time on Sunday so I didn't get a chance to make it look like anything useful, or clean it up (among many many other things I wanted to clean up!). Similar answer for everything else you mention, naturally! Thanks for sticking with it even in frustrating parts. :)
Very neat! I like the adventure game style, and the art style goes great with it. I did find it pretty confusing to try and figure out what to do next, especially escaping the basement. Aside from the basement escape however, it was pretty okay, it's just that one part that I really struggled with. In terms of concept, I think it's awesome that you made an alien language for the game! In terms of gameplay, it was a bit off putting at first, but using the console solved that. I was also initially confused about the pea pods, but once I realized you couldn't interact with it it was fine.
I did however encounter an odd edge case where somehow the player got stuck in the pea pods and couldn't move until I reset the game. It only happened once, so I assume it's a rare glitch.
Overall, very nicely done! It was a fun experience, and I wouldn't mind seeing this fleshed out further into a bigger game.
It took me a long time to figure out that the words at the bottom were clickable, I thought it was just one sentence. Then after that I almost gave up before getting to the upper deck, I ended up figuring it out randomly. Pretty enjoyable otherwise, I heavily relied on the console because I kept forgetting what each button was as well.
Funny game! I enjoyed it!
Graphics are derpy and fun - I like how the human seems as empty as the space he's staring at -
I had a lot of trouble understand what I had to do at first - maybe some instructions in english could help towards that. Then I found it was a decent, short point&click experience.
Good work ! :)
Sorry, but i clicked around 500 times everywhere and nothing happened (except for moving from 1 place to another). Also - i don't speak that language. Couldn't really play the game :/
kinglon, it remembered me when I didn't know english and I had to discover what do what XD. Although I got tired I think is a cool idea to apply in the voice of the character. The menu is difficult if you don't give any tips.
@fork0 Nobody speaks the language except the alien. :) I added some rot13 hints in the game comments in case people get stuck and want to see how it progresses. (But the true hero perseveres.)
Beautiful! In a weird way, it reminded me of how I used to play adventure games with my siblings when we were kids - they were all in English and none of us spoke it, but we still loved playing them, so a lot of the time we solved the puzzles with the tried-and-true "use everything with everything"-method. So too here! The inventory puzzling was also very enjoyable, once I understood it was meant to be a core part of the gameplay (otherwise you could've just had a 'drop these useless items'-thing).
SPOILERS:
That one of the verbs was solely "lay an egg" was pretty confusing at first, since the other one was clearly "use x with y" - but I guess that was there just to, exactly, sow confusion :P I'm assuming the verbs were: interact, look (since it didn't do anything ever), lay egg x in thing y, and use x with y? Also, am I wrong or was the keycard not used at all?
Anyway, really great work!
@wolfrug Oh wow, I love that story! I was exactly going for that feeling of finding an "alien" game and being able to play through it anyway.
Regarding the SPOILERS:
Yes, I think you got everything: Third verb is "OVIPOSIT" (actually misspelled OVOPOSIT), which means that. It's deliberately separate to be mysterious, since part of the joke is that aliens might consider this a fundamental action in their worldview. The second verb is "TALK" but it barely has any effect. Keycard is unused. There were a few things in the plan that I had to cut because I ran out of time, which is the reason for some of the loose ends. Thanks and thanks for playing! :)
It's really cool that you made you own alien language, but I didn't have a clue about how to decipher it. I did figure out how to pick up the fire extinguisher and put out the fire and picked up the ID card. I didn't know what to do at the back of the ship with the two guys.
took me a while to figure it out! pretty cool!
Hi cool game idea to play the alien. I didn't get very far even with the help of the console. Not escaping the lower levels.
A tip about spoilers. The markdown supports `!> Spolier`

But you need to leave extra blank line after a spoiler or else it will be included.
I couldn't open the grate and I couldn't pickup the weapon nor did I figure out how to drop anything so I got stuck. I would have liked depositing my eggs in warm bodies.
With regards to the language. Since the player is the alien, I think it would have made more sense and perhaps been more fun if I understood the alien but the human English was all weird.
I liked the Graphics, and the Gameplay was fun, Nice Game.
