I wish I had a player 2. Game looks great! Since I can't really get a good idea of the full game, I assume the theme is in when your own Dragon gets fed he gets bigger making him a easier target. Don't know why you wouldn't want to feed your own Dragon though, he is adorable.
You can try to feed him yourself and see... 😀

Nicely done! really cute art style and game works well and fun. A portable option would've probably been ideal but the game is worth it. As far as feedback I think maybe having more items aside from freezing would have varied it up more :)
I absolutely LOVE the theme and art style of this!! It doesn't look like a game that was made in 48 hours at all, and that's a great accomplishment! Seriously rad, awesome work!!

But few things was a bit awakward for me: - msi installer and no webplayer version - it's kinda hard to throw sth with this short stick :D - game didn't go fullscreen for me (there was edges of my desktop sticking out) - resolution 1920x1200 - no exit button and no GUI - this one is really bad!!
Overall it's really great and fun entry! :)
@bartosz Thanks for the feedback, we were not sure about having the exit button on the in-game window, and didn't pay attention on greater resolutions than 1920 * 1080.
This will change for future versions :)
@reality-blind what game engine did you use? It would be great if you had only exe file without installer :)
@bartosz We are using GameMaker Studio, I'm not really a programmer so I have a lot of things to learn :) I changed some options on the project and it should launch in fullscreen now, could you test it when it will be online ? Again, thanks for your feedback :)
EDIT : I found how to export just the .exe, the exit button is now located in the room and the new build is online

Art is fantastic! Music goes really well, and it sounds clean. My main complaint is how hard it is to get food in to the opposing player’s dragon. It’s not even so much that the other player is defending, it’s that the angle and flame just seem to clash more often than not. You end up with a lot of food just right next to the enemy dragon. After 2 players not landing any shot, it starts feeling a little ridiculous without progress.
If there was a way to better aim or interact with projectiles, this would be awesome! It’s like air hockey, but with food :).
An amazing game , really cool for your first LD , i really like magicians' sound (special mention for " ocupocus") , your caracters are really cute , love this .

Game looks really great! Haven't had the chance (yet) to play this with a controller, but the keyboard controls did feel a little awkward to play. Not sure if the player instantly resetting to its former position is something I have to learn, because it made it harder to ideally flip the food towards the dragon. I do see a great potential for a couch multiplayer game!
Outstanding artstyle, graphics and animations! Feels very, very juicy. The soundtrack was also nice.

@dat-man-lu @tobiasnl Keyboard controls are not as good as controller's one, that's sure. The problem was to find some keys in common between AZERTY and QWERTY to allow two players on the same keyboard. The rotation keys are the main problem I think, if you have any suggestions don't hesitate to submit them :) @lhouyez Ahah, le Hocus Pocus est mon préféré aussi, on a enregistré tous ces sons quelques heures avant la fin de la deadline et on s'est bien marrés :D @xclementx Merci beaucoup, les dragons et les sorciers viennent d'une madame par contre (ma copine) :D

Interesting concept, but it's really difficult to keep things on the flying brooms that spawn.
Nice art, music and concept. But hard to play, it's easier to feed our dragon than the other one ^^

really love the visual art style and animation which is easy to understand. Maybe you need to add the timer to the fire, cz the game is endless. If food will have different physics params it will be more fun :)
@sepjani Thanks, what do you mean by adding a timer to the fire ? Food had different physics at first, but we ended up globalizing depending on the size (little or big), but retrospectively I also feel it's missing that little randomness :) @peppersalt I fixed that, the brooms now spawn with a little rotation (as it was the case before but was scrapped for an obscure reason), allowing the food to travel through the screen, particularly hilarious when you spawn a freeze potion that travels to your opponent :D
@reality-blind timer like in fighting games, every round has, for example, 3 minutes. And when the timer is closer to 0 sec - the fire become bigger and bigger. If the game ended with a draw - fire eats all player.
@sepjani That's a good idea, it could make its way into a post-LD build :)
Lovely visuals, but gameplay-wise it didn't really click with me. The fact that your broom snaps back immediately as soon as you release the rotation keys makes it really hard to reliably send snacks towards your opponent and ends up feeling weird.
@spierek No problem, we wanted to work more on that but ended up having no time to fix this, so it stayed the way it is now, but that clearly will be fixed in the future
Very nice art and animations! It's pretty hard to hit the food towards the other dragon, but if you can get that feeling better I think this would be a fun party game. Good job!
@aeveis Have you played with a controller ? Keyboard controls are really harder to get but with a controller and a little practice it's pretty easy to reach the other dragon :)
I just loved this game, very cool!
I tried to stream your game but something happend that i never seen before. The stream was able to see the game but for me everything was only black. I heard the music i was able to click on the language selection but i seen nothing. Maybe your game does not like 2 monitor setups. Try to add a windowed mode next time. Thank you and sorry

Very impressive entry, visually wise is absolutely fantastic for a LDJam entry: coherent, colorful, funny, well animated and with lots of personality. Really dig the art. Fun experience too for 2 players and clever interpretation of the theme. Maybe adding a basic AI wouldn't be that hard, I'd love to see a complete version of the game! Congrats in making this, I really enjoyed it.
Nice idea and funny game! In the beginning i got a similar problem as @szekeres-szabolcs when i started the game (also 2 monitors), but some tabbing in and out fixed it. I like the art a lot, it is really consistent and gives a great atmosphere. Well done!

Awesome game, I really dig the way the game looks and feels. It would be awesome to have an AI to play against when you can't find a player 2.
It's a shame that it's only multiplayer, since I didn't have anyone around to check it out. Regardless, the art style is fantastic, and the mechanics looked very fun for a game night session with more people.
Yeah, there's not much I can add to it that hasn't been said. Game does look polished and a lot of fun, and that it can be played with a controller is a big bonus. It feels just right, even though I can't enjoy it to its full extent. I'm sure that my team would have a blast if we could sit down around to play it. Anyhow, keep up the good work! :whale:

Very good graphics, presentation and audio, but the gameplay needs much more tuning. The rotation of the witches should be made faster and throwing food at enemy needs to feel much more like a "shooting" a ball. Faster movements and better physics would make this game a great two player "sports" game :)

Had a really fun time playing this with a friend, although it crashed the first time I launched it (when i clicked the in-game cross in the top right corner) and froze my computer for a good 10 min. Anyway, one of the best entry i've seen so far. Awesome graphics, fun idea of overfeeding dragon, need some dexterity to play. Great job.
@sheepking Sorry for the inconvenience, the only code the cross has is to quit the game, that freeze is really strange

Awesome mood and graphics! I found the controls a bit unprecise though. It was really hard to actually aim where you throw the food.
@pepri Have you played with a keyboard or with 360 controllers ? We are aware that the keyboard controls are not good at the moment, but with controllers it must be much better :)

Yeah I don't know it launches to a black screen with no sound and just sits there. I wish I could give more info but thats all I can get it to do. I tried running as admin and the same.

@weeping-rupee Thanks a lot for your patience, I tried the build on itch and had no problem launching it, that's strange. The next build will not launch on fullscreen by default, I hope it will solve your problem !
@Reality-Blind Come to think of it, it very well could be that its launching in full screen -- I have had issues with game maker launching in full screen so maybe its something with my graphics card or my computer and not just with game maker. Thanks for the quick responses, I'll keep an eye out for that build.
@weeping-rupee Yeah, GameMaker often act strangely with fullscreen for me too. The last build is online, with no fullscreen launch, if you need one try Alt + Enter. Thanks for your interest, I hope you will like the game :)

Really cool game, just wished I had a 2nd Player with me or a single-player mode. But I love this concept and the art is fantastic!
Those dragons growing up with feeding was fantastic, and it was a very neat idea! The art is pretty awesome too, while the sound does its job. Great entry overall!
Cool concept. It's was a little difficult to get the hang of but once I had the controls down it was good fun. I really like the artwork and the audio was spot on.
The concept is nice, i love the graphic and humor sense from your game! I can't wait to see from more incoming features such as power-up items, and more particle effect to improve the game experience, well done!

I especially liked the introduction screen where you were still able to try out the controls.
Initially, neither of us got how to "throw" the food and we started just putting the food on the brooms. After finding out the throwing trick it was a blast though!
@tobia88 We have really cool ideas for new potions, mostly inspired by bugs we experimented while bug fixing x) @lexi We wanted controls to act how you would play a flipper table, we tried different things but what we came up with was finally a good way to do it I think :)

Hey so I finally got it working late last night, but had to wait until this morning to give it a proper go with my girlfriend.
Pros: - The look, obviously - The conjuring of different foods is a nice touch - Good set of instructions and xbox controller support - wonderful animations and character designs
Cons/Suggestions/Observations: - I wish the spin move was more impactful so I could like lacrosse toss my food at the other baby dragon. Maybe have the player rotate the stick so they could wind up and really slam that food across the screen OR do it with finesse and shoot it up and over like a basketball. - Being higher up than your opponent seems to always be an advantage. - What is that thing that's freezing me when I conjure it? It seems to happen randomly.
Overall this is AMAZING for a first entry, excellent job guys.
@weeping-rupee - Thanks for the feedback, the spin move could fasten up the longer you press the key, that's not a bad idea :) We had some tests where the food got an impulse from touching the broom, we should maybe reimplement it.
The thing that froze you is a Freeze Potion, it has a 10% chance (or 15 I don't remember) to replace a food item when you use your spell. More potions are planned, and they will be easier to see !
When I saw the cute wizards and dragons, and heard the light beat and owl hoots, I felt amazed and enchanted! If you continue to develop this, when there wasn't a bot to play against, I didn't take the opportunity to seek out a second player. Playing by myself, I didn't succeed in getting a piece of meat to the opposing dragon.
This was a really cute and fun game! I absolutely love the visuals and audio; it looks and feels so clean! It can feel a bit strange at times, with food sometimes falling right through the broom and with the lower boundary feeling so restrictive. Great entry overall though! My girlfriend and I had some real laughs while playing! =)

@joe-sycalik Yup, falling food through the brooms happened with our last bug fix, as we changed physics properties and rotation speed of the players sometimes collisions shapes don't really collide, it will be fixed. Did it happen often ?
For post-LD version I will start again from scratch, and the player will have two separate collision shapes, one for the broom, and one for the wizard so the broom will stop changing the position of the player when rotating against boundaries :)
This was incredible ! So much fun to be had with this game, the mechanics are intuitive and innovative, of course the game sounds and looks beautiful... This is great work ! Congrats :)

Beautiful art, gameplay very good, good control support and very good mechanic, it is very charming game
Very fun. The owl sound effects really work well with the background, and the music is nice to listen to. It did feel a bit easy to prevent my opponent from feeding my dragon though, and somewhat difficult to launch food to the other side.
The art in this is fantastic. Loved the way the dragons would grow as you fed them. Was nicely done with really smooth transitions. Liked the uniqueness of the two player gameplay also thought it was well done and an interesting take on the theme.
As everyone is saying, the visuals are stunning! Even with that morbid obesity running wild I still want to feed my dragons, they deserve it since they're so cute! You guys did an amazing job!
The art style is brilliant and the game play has all the makings of a sweet game with some tweaks. by adding a super food that gives extra would be a cool addition
