LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Enchain by PowerSpark 2017-12-06T16:33:40Z

Very well done game, love the retro 3D shooter vibe in this one, visually it works perfectly. Controls are really smooth, although I found jumps to be a bit too punishing (found myself falling every now and then). Other than that, it's a really really good entry. Congratulations on making this!

Babies! Babies! Babies! by Local Minimum 2017-12-05T19:27:11Z

Whoa, this was unexpected. Kinda creepy, but at the same time fascinating and engaging. Reaching the coffee with so many babies on top is impossible mission in the end. Particularly loved the art style and the parallax scroll. Everything fits together really well. Congrats on this.

Whatever Floats Your Boat by testudor 2017-12-06T20:03:10Z

Simple yet fun and addictive game, with a smart use of the theme. Found myself playing for quite a while, it gets pretty challenging in the end! Controls are spot on and the bow works really well, although I found the best weapon is basically thworing stuff over the board (being careful not to go behind them!). Congrats on this!

A Platformer for Ants by Elendow 2017-12-07T15:54:21Z

Incredibly smart implementation of the theme, one of my favs so far! Visually pleasing and super original. Congrats on delivering this :) Enhorabuena por el juego, me ha encantado la idea.

Maurim: Unepic thief by bakudas 2017-12-05T19:55:16Z

This is a really above-average entry, graphics are incredibly polished and the gameplay is direct, simple and fun. I'm particularly fan of the soundtrack, it's groovy and fits the action perfectly. Long live greedy treasure hunters!!!

EARTH BLOSSOM by Zarkonnen 2017-12-05T17:57:58Z

Very nice game, I specially enjoyed the ambiance and atmosphere, Moving around is fun per se, which is a very complicated thing to achieve. Gets hard pretty quick though! Congrats on this one :)

Student Loan Simulator 2017 Ramen Edition by smbe19 2017-12-05T19:21:00Z

Damn it's hard to be a student on a loan! Pretty cool concept, definitely fits the theme... the bigger the loan the worse it is! Miss some restart button to try again without having to reload the page (unless I've missed it!)

Grammar Dystopia by Xarras 2017-12-05T15:41:37Z

This game is nuts, I absolutely loved the concept and the presentation. Mixture of real life image with graphics was a great and fun idea. My only comment is that I find the difficulty curve to be a bit steep (that, or I need some more sleep after the LD ;) ), but with some patience you end up clearing the challenges. Shakespeare would be proud!

DUI: The Game! by AfroAnt 2017-12-06T16:42:08Z

Very clever take on the theme, definitely the more the worse! I specially enjoyed the graphics, with simple yet solid models and cool effects when drunk. I found it to be really polished for a jam game. Worked really well in WebGL version too! Congrats on the entry!

Ascension by Roberto Romao 2017-12-05T15:36:11Z

Very cool mix up between a clicker and an adventure game, the idea really works, giving you some pause time when events pop up and leave your wrist to rest for a while! Congrats on delivering this.

The Luckiest Businessman by mortus 2017-12-05T18:59:09Z

Very cool concept with a unique presentation I love the police getting suspicious of my incredible luck and buying stuff to make me happy! Almost like in real life... except for the incredible luck :P Maybe I would have added a fast forward or skip button in order to develop more quickly (specially while traveling from location to location), but other than that I find it to be a really solid entry, Congrats!

Dimension Leak by muumeroinen 2017-12-05T18:54:05Z

Very nice and tight controls here! Pretty demanding game, but as a lover of retro platformers I had a blast playing it. Like a lot the metroid-esque ambientation. Personally I didn't have the shift issue (using OSX here), but I do miss some sound. Buts it's a LD game anyway. Congrats on this!

Party Penguin by LiquidBrain 2017-12-05T20:03:24Z

Had to give it a few tries until I got the hold of it, but partying went smoother and smoother with every gameplay. Overall I found it to be a great concept, simple gameplay yet rewarding and an enjoyable experience. DJ Pego's music was simply great. Vivan los party penguins!

Quest for Harmony (Audio is required) by unfinished 2017-12-10T20:16:53Z

Man, I almost jumped out of the chair when the game finished loading and heard the scream for the first time! Hahaha, Overall I found it to be a very cool concept with texcellent audio production values, but it took me a while to get a grip of the controls and the vocal reactions. Maybe a bit of speech reforcing the players actions or objectives would have been great for an easier experience. Obviously there was probably no time in a jam entry, but would love to see a more complete version ;)

Problems? by Viza 2017-12-05T15:22:57Z

Can't belie this was made in such a short time, it's a very fresh concept and works surprisingly well. It took me a bit to understand how it was played, but it got me hooked up for a good while. Minimalist but super coherent presentation. Congrats on this!

Drift Punk by CremaGames 2017-12-07T15:31:15Z

Vaya juegazo os habéis vuelto a marcar para una ludum tíos! :) Seriously, this is probably the most polished game I've tried on this LDJam. Visuals, controls, atmosphere and gameplay are just spot on. Pure simple arcade fun. Enhorabuena Cremas!!!

Hellrena by LeFayGames 2017-12-10T20:25:52Z

The idea behind this is pretty good and the scope and amount of content of the game is really impressive too for a LD Jam game. However, I felt the controls to be a bit sluggish and made the experience a bit slow. Would love to see an improved version of those, I think the game experience wuold benefit enormously!

Crazy Cat Lady: Full Throttle: Reloaded with a Revengence(?) by Shaolin Dave 2017-12-05T19:36:25Z

Love Peggy and her cats! Fun how when you manage to get lots of cats they slow you down and can even lock you down in a room blocking the exit. Sound effects are hilarious and graphic-wise the game is great. Congrats on this!

Dish Rush by WirkilichKeinBaum 2017-12-06T20:29:17Z

Very nice entry, fits perfectly with the theme! Found controls to be very food, even though the game gets hard pretty quickly. Visually coherent and with tons of humor, which I love in a LDJam entry. I will take my date to KFC! :D Congrats on this!

ARTIFACTS by Fran Segura 2017-12-10T20:06:19Z

A very nice entry. The atmosphere is great, thanks to the beautiful graphics and the relaxing soundtrack. Both these aspects are incredibly polished for a jam game. Controls work well too, but in some occasions I felt "missing" some joint points with the hook which I felt I targetted correctly. This probably happened when scrolling fast. A "magnet" feature to lock the aim when still hanging on another joint could be a nice thing to try!

Overall a pretty impressive entry, had a great time trying this one out!

A Short Story by iamtalin 2017-12-05T19:50:23Z

This game looks and plays great. Glad to see more narrative experiences entering the LDJam, the amount of work involved in making something like this is really above average. Congrats on your entry!

Horny Bunny by Thomas FUentes 2017-12-07T15:04:13Z

WTF XD Fun idea, hilariopus expressions and great art-music setting for the theme. Had quite a laugh playing this one, it's hard as hell to make progress with all those horny rabbits around! The only problem I found was that sometimes the rabbit got stuck while jumping on platforms (like diagonally). Other thatn that, had quite a hilarious experience :)

Kittea Party by JPiolho 2017-12-05T19:32:30Z

Man, Gertrude does know how to hold a tea kitty party! Great game, fitting perfectly the theme (who would resist adopting MORE and MORE cats?) with a simple yet engaging gameplay. Graphics stand out, love the pixel art and the warm home-like color palette. Congrats on the entry!

Fat Puss by Gama Croma 2017-12-10T19:56:53Z

Nice little game with a cool idea fitting the theme perfectly! The art was definitely my favorite aspect of the game. Controls nicely, but it would be cool if you could keep going even if you're fat. I mean, that you could avoid the obstacles even when superfat.

Lamattractive by Pandanym 2017-12-07T15:08:28Z

I LOVE LLAMAS! Especially attractive ones... O_O Very nice interpretation of the theme, with a really lovely art style. This would work great on mobile with some leaderboards, would love to see a complete version of the game!

LUGO by Bonelazy 2017-12-06T16:55:33Z

It's really, really impressive you managed to make this for a Jam! I personally found the editor a bit hard to use, but the results were great once you got a hold of it. This has definitely a lot of potential for a full release, I would love to see a complete version. Congrats on releasing this Played it on Mac.

Jewel Shadow by dimesto52 2017-12-10T20:30:47Z

At first I was confused with the controls, but when I figured them out I found it to be super interesting. A very original control style. Managed to complete the run, but couldn't manage to figure out the enemy behavior. I understand the more diamonds the more enemies, but coulnd't foresee their movements. Overall a very satisfying and interesting experience congrats on this!

Dodge the Death Coins by JustMars 2017-12-10T20:22:33Z

Very interesting game mechanic, loved the idea of playing with the body dimensions ir order to make progress, adapting to the environment. Found it pretty original and engaging! Coins were a bit a pain in the ass though, found they weren't as interesting as other obstacles since avoiding them was just plain 2D platforming gameplay. The other part was more fun and original :) As said before, transparent obstacles once the camera got closer would have made some bits easier, but for a LDJam game it's really nice. Congrats on delivering this!

Multiple Escapees by rargrave 2017-12-06T20:24:43Z

Don't know why my comment went published anonymously, but triple jump rules ;)

Back To Shelter by Matcheryt 2017-12-06T16:50:57Z

Hey this is a really solid entry for a 48h game! Controls good and feels great. The atmosphere, as said before, is definitely it's strongest point and what kept me playing. It's hard to see, yet I somehow managed to keep pushing forward, I can see there was quite some level design involved in creating the map. Congrats on the game!

Captain Capsize by Lance Krasniqi 2017-12-07T15:28:28Z

Love this one, it's a really solid piece of game for a ludum dare. The artwork is specially remarkable, kinda reminds me of Wind Waker, one of my favorite games. Would love to see this "universe" expanded in a full version of the game!

Sugarplum Summit by Michael Clavell 2017-12-07T14:44:14Z

Nice little surprise, it's not very common to see a shump as a LD entry and much less a christmas oriented one! Had quite a lot of fun playing this one, controls are pretty smooth and the following angels kinda remind me of Twinbee. Music is a bit high for my taste, but the remix is very cool. Congrats on making this!

The Amazing Game 3.0 by DjeyCreations 2017-12-07T14:52:05Z

My god, that tutorial got me on my nerves, hahaha! Kove this kind of parody, done smartly and with humor (and lots of patience!). Visually simple yet working perfectly for the mood. Congrats on delivering this, specially impressive as a 1st LD.

Interview at Cacophony by Christoph 2017-12-07T15:14:48Z

I love this kind of entries, it was nothing I would have expected. Fits the jam's theme perfectly (the more instruments the harder it gets to recognize them). Such as simple, yet super original idea which works like a charm. As a music aficionado I really dig this one, found myself playing for quite a while.

My only suggestion would be being able to "cancel" listening to your selection, as many times you realize pretty fast that it was incorrect, yet you have to listen the sample completely.

Congrats on delivering this, one of my favs so far!

DRAGLUTTONY by Reality Blind 2017-12-06T19:51:37Z

Very impressive entry, visually wise is absolutely fantastic for a LDJam entry: coherent, colorful, funny, well animated and with lots of personality. Really dig the art. Fun experience too for 2 players and clever interpretation of the theme. Maybe adding a basic AI wouldn't be that hard, I'd love to see a complete version of the game! Congrats in making this, I really enjoyed it.

Lose weight by kingswind 2017-12-05T15:17:01Z

Funny little game, fits well in the theme and controls... well, just as expected form a flappy hungry bird! :) Quite challenging actually, took me quite a few tries to make it pass the first few waves of enemies. Congrats for the game!

Infortune by Pacha 2017-12-07T14:55:48Z

Very nice and solid entry, there's quite a lot of content for a LD Jam game! Theme fits well and controls are spot on. Visually it's very pleasing, although I'd suggest adding some basic shadow beneath the characters, so that they would integrate a bit better on the backgrounds. Would love to see a complete version of this. Congratulations!

The wreck of the Pulstar-VIII by Oceanosaurus 2017-12-05T19:22:08Z

Thanks for the comments!

The wreck of the Pulstar-VIII by Oceanosaurus 2017-12-06T16:29:46Z

Thanks everyone for the comments! @iamtalin Yeah, it's hard to find the balance between too much and too few information. You can always use the skip function though! ;) @jungle Thanks a lot, really glad you liked the art, took my almost one of the 3 days to make all the assers.

The wreck of the Pulstar-VIII by Oceanosaurus 2017-12-07T14:57:45Z

@local-minimum thanks a lot for playing and for the feedback! Actually the original idea included suspicious progressing (as in the characters would become more aware of your actions after the 1st murder) and also suicide-possibility (being able to successfully complete the mission by dying). Unfortunately had to cut both off due to time restrictions. Would love to update the game in the future!

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Small God by Wevel 2018-12-04T14:18:37Z

Very neat idea and concept, managed to get my worshipers build a couple of nice pyramids! Found to be best played with the speed at maximum level, love how to see my little society growing quickly... only to drop a fireball! Makes me feel evil :zap: UI was a bit confusing at first, but grasped it in a few minutes. Congrats on the entry, had a great time playing.

Fruity Madness by thomz12 2018-12-04T14:57:06Z

Controls are great in this game, loved how fruits would get dizzy if you spin them too hard, looks really polished. Glad to see some light hearted approach to the theme which plays so well, you can even take out a fruit from the blender if you made a mistake. Loved the pixelated-censored fruit sacrifice, congrats on delivering this!

Sacrus by Drury 2018-12-04T14:38:08Z

That jump is hard to handle but I've enjoyed making that sacrifices with that I awesome guitar! Good job.

Spacebrawl by sobakaduka 2018-12-04T15:26:28Z

Good job! I think you understood the theme better than anyone by sacrificing your ship to defend it. It's a hard game but I've enjoyed playing it.

Deadly Debt by superjai 2018-12-31T13:45:17Z

I love games that can be played just with one hand while I'm eating ^^ good point

Back at Valborgne Manor by Greet 2018-12-04T15:15:06Z

A really ambitious entry, the scope of this project seems really big. Loved the background story and ambiance on this one, I would have liked the font size to be a little bigger though, so the notes you find would be easier to read. Music was absolutely great. Congrats on delivering this!

Tiny Crusade by HellSquirrel 2018-12-05T13:48:14Z

I felt nostalgia playing this game. It was a bit hard to me and I just won two battles before I died but I like it, good job.

Demon Rising by GerardB 2018-12-04T14:32:36Z

Great little game! Had a lot of fun playing this one, enjoyed the sick soundtrack and really tight controls. I found the shooting enemies to be quite hard to dodge though in comparison with the swordsmen. Impressive for a one man team, congratulations on this entry!

Rift Plugger by Mikeliosus 2018-12-04T15:36:52Z

The dancing deer is one of the best things I've seen so far in this LDJam. Just look at his groove! Art and music for this one are absolutely great, the overall presentation is impressive for a LD entry. Controls were fine for me, but maybe I found it a bit too hard (those flying enemies always end up hitting me!). Congrats on this really solid entry!

Pecto by rodel77 2018-12-10T13:55:57Z

HAHAHA ok! I died in the game and it kinda happen the same to my game (there wasn't enough time to make a restart function when you finish the game). Good game, I like it the "sacrifice" system, it's one of the most original and the player care about that.

Sacrifice my farm!! by xenop 2018-12-04T15:47:45Z

Really nice presentation, bouncy animations were hilarious and the bunch of angry farmers too. Is there any way to get around them though? They always end up getting me when they come in a bunch! Congrats on the release!

Humanity Hero by Guilb 2018-12-04T14:56:22Z

I like the visuals and the mood of the game. The gameplay remembers to paper please but the consequences of rejection makes the game more fun. I've enjoyed making sacrifices!!

The Cold Remains of Warmer Days by TheOneThatNeverWas 2018-12-05T14:05:51Z

I love to play this kind of games. I'm always looking for experience like this on LD. It gets a lot of fun in the typing sections, I was all the time pretending I was really typing what it was writed. Good job.

Jingle Bell Rocket by nucleartide 2018-12-04T16:36:58Z

Gotta love a Pico-8 entry! This mechanic has a lot of potential, I'm with the previous comment, it could work very well as a platformer where you have to collect stuff scattered around a room by cannon-jumping yourself around. Enemies could be there too as the cannon serves as a weapon (and one should be aware where to fire because of the recoil). Presentation-wise I think it looks great, would love to see more of this!

Sheepy by FROG5TAR 2018-12-10T17:27:05Z

Not bad. I know how difficult is to make games but it has a lot to improve. I've enjoyed so I'm going to put a decent score. Not going to say nothing else cause you already have a lot of feedback. Keep working.

Dazle Islands by Leandre Renouard 2018-12-04T15:05:51Z

This is a really impressive entry. Graphics and presentation are absolutely great, controls are good and it's working perfectly on HTML5. The camera hides the hero sometimes behind the bushes, but I guess that's an easy fix. I found hearts to be a bit hard to pick up, maybe you could make its collision box bigger sou the hero would pick them up when he's close to them. Overall a wonderful Jam entry, keep up the good work to turn this into a full adventure!

Stupid Sacrifice by Oneki 2018-12-10T15:07:07Z

I had to play it two times hahaha.

Alpaca's Redemption by Oceanosaurus 2018-12-04T16:27:07Z

Many thanks for all the comments and feedback! Keyboard controls seem to be a common issue, maybe we should upload a version with control remapping so it's more comfortable to use without a gamepad.

@dudum-lare @lerpish many thanks for sharing with us the sacrifice order, it's really cool to get to know how people made their progress

Tough Hunt by vojtiman 2018-12-04T16:21:54Z

Interesting concept, choices are always tough to make. I enjoyed the setting and ambiance, but aiming with the bow was a bit hard for me (playing the HTML5 version, not sure if it had something to do). NPC characters add some background story which is great to see in a LDJam game. The bear was deadly ;) Congrats on delivering this!

Suicidal Knight by Corbak 2018-12-04T15:57:07Z

Really solid entry, we also thought of a similar idea of sacrificing abilities and it's great to see another take on the idea ! Presentation was great and controls tight, would have been great to orientate the character with the mouse too, so you can attack enemies while walking in a different direction! Sacrificing eyes in exchange for a darker view was a good one. Congratulation on your entry!

Istenek by Fenderbate 2018-12-04T14:27:07Z

But I already have 15 children! :smirk: Loved the humor in this one, my kingdom ended up falling though (damn devil). Interesting sound effects for the clicks, they are strangely hypnotizing. Congrats on the entry!

Kaiju Attack by zaza 2018-12-04T16:16:38Z

This one reminded me of King of the Mosnters, I loved that game! Really nice presentation, the game is fun to play and controls are easy and smooth. The low res (playing on browser here) gives it a retro feel that I loved. Simple and very entertaining entry, congrats on delivering this!

Tim's Christmas Nightmare by Zombie Virals 2018-12-04T14:50:04Z

Tight controls and nice graphics, 1-hit death by saws was a bit ruthless though! Quite hard to grab all of the presents... I like nice creepy Christmas atmosphere going on. Congrats on the entry!

Pyme's Genocide by HermesEs 2018-12-04T15:13:26Z

WHOAH!!! I can believe that you made this in just 72 hours. Congratulations. The best I've played today.

Sacrifice Yourself by Weiiswurst 2018-12-04T14:40:29Z

Interesting concept. I'd add some kind of mini map in order to know where you're located and some kind of feedback on the attack, so you can see you're damaging your enemies, and on the sacrifice, so you know it worked. Managed to survive up to level 3, but monsters end up getting me if I get close to attack. I see the game is beta, keep up the work!

Ranch of the Gods by Vodish 2018-12-04T15:20:36Z

I've been cracking up to the sounds of this game during the whole gameplay, they're just hilarious  loved them! I'm now probably the favorite peasant of the gods and also a huge cow slaughterer! Beautifully presented, funny and entertaining. Music is relaxing too! A really solid entry, love this type of LD games, congrats!

Son of Cthulhu by spidamoo 2018-12-04T16:33:02Z

Very cool gameplay idea, I really enjoyed swinging the tentacles while swimming, especially in the first area with the smaller fish it felt really smooth. Sacrificing your tentacles was a nice take on the Jam's theme and, more often than not, I ended up being a tentacle-less son of Cthulu! Sharks were really hard to beat! Congrats on making this one.

Blood Balance by t1a2z 2018-12-06T15:29:23Z

Good Game. The art was fantastic and the game is really consistent. Good job.

PuzCol (Solo) by harshyyness 2018-12-05T13:35:16Z

It's too short! Make more levels please, I like the way that switches works.

Views by arnau 2018-12-05T13:40:45Z

Nice job guys, love the feeling of crushing some real estate speculation in the coast! Couldn't get over the 2K mark in score though, 10K seems impossible for my lousy mouse skills ;) Congrats on the entry!

KingGame by staxx6 2018-12-05T13:51:08Z

Interesting concept, I will be forever remembered in the Cube Kingdom as King Cubic III, the Peasant Slayer  Controls were a bit confusing at first, but once grasped it works well. Found a fun "bug": if you position your king in the path of a servant you will block his way... but he will continue trying to go that way. So if you block several and then move, of they go all together! Cool stuff, congrats on the entry!

Damn Grinches by adriagonzalez 2018-12-04T15:38:40Z

Ok, that elves are scaring to me XD A really dangerous weapon. Use it with caution.

RespawnPlatformer by Hangacs 2018-12-04T14:30:34Z

I really sucks playing this game but it's a really original idea. Been the player and the platform at the same time is something I've never seen before. Good job.
