Good sounds and graphics, i love this game, one of the best game actually !!! It's very cute and it let me think of slime rancher ^^

ps: blood from de jetpack could have been funny

essence 2018-12-04 14:18

pretty well made with cute graphics, really fun to suck in a lot of animals and use them as jet fuel

jibbs 2018-12-04 14:43

Unfortunately I could not download the game ... Could you add a WebGL build ? (I am assuming you used Unity, so it is not that hard) It would also make it available to Mac and Linux players ;)

juan-hust-novella 2018-12-04 14:46

@jibbs pls try this link https://gamejolt.com/games/pymes-genocide/383086/download/build/645920

WebGL versión will be avaliable as soon as posible.

tadpolily 2018-12-04 14:57

This looks great! I'll be on the lookout for a mac or web version if released.

johnnyginard 2018-12-04 14:58

Best Ludum Game I've seen so far! :D

jaimuepe 2018-12-04 15:03

@jibbs @tadpolily yes, I'll make builds for other platforms! Yesterday I was too tired for that and needed some sleep :)

camille 2018-12-04 15:12

Waw really love the graphics, the main character is very cute, the lands and others creatures too!

oceanosaurus 2018-12-04 15:13

WHOAH!!! I can believe that you made this in just 72 hours. Congratulations. The best I've played today.

f4kethis 2018-12-04 15:17

I absolutely adore the art, it's so vibrant and joyful, it's like blowing a bubble made of rainbows over a candy forest, and when it pops it was full of the happiest little rainbow critters. I found the whole aesthetic delightful, and mechanically it reminds me of Slime Rancher (which I loved).

Needing to collect so many of the little guys got a little tedious when all I wanted to do was get to the next platform, and the transition between jumping and jetpacking felt a little delayed. I also found the shooting mechanic was a bit unpredictable, sometimes the critters would just fly off in a random direction, but the game was fantastic overall. Amazing job putting this together!

hydezeke 2018-12-04 15:28

This was awesome! Breathtaking visuals and audio for a game jam. The models and animations are super fluid, and I love the aesthetics. The concept is awesome too.

I think the level design could be tweaked to be more forgiving- some short ledges look like you can jump up them (saving on fuel) but are /just/ high enough to require the jetpack, which is sorta frustrating. Level design is hard to pin down in such a short dev period, so this is completely forgiveable though.

Good job !! !

jeffrey-newton-evans 2018-12-04 20:47

Any chance of getting a Mac build? Looks incredible and i'd love to try it!

juan-hust-novella 2018-12-04 20:52

@jeffrey-newton-evans Soon, our programmer needs some rest ^^

jeffrey-newton-evans 2018-12-04 20:55

@juan-hust-novella Haha, no worries! Rest is our friend!

anstabo 2018-12-04 20:59

This game is a good example of the type of game that made me want to work on video games. Making a jam with a lot of people can be difficult sometimes especially in 3D so congrats for making it ! You nailed every aspect of slime rancher that makes it good. Your game is a bundle of fun with cherry on top :cherries: Could use a little bit more feedback(other than sound which is amazing btw) and a bit of shader work :surfer:

yureiokami 2018-12-04 21:13

This is great for a 72 hours jam!

Faced some bugs with mons not being sucked in after some time. Probably just some prefabs getting defective. But I only really got to the point it started to bug because I was that invested in it. Besides that, it was charming and very well animated. With the bugs fixed and a bit more polish in the physics department, I can easily see this as a solid base for a high quality product.

rasmus-clausen 2018-12-04 21:28

what a lovely game  i love the graphics and shading. It is hard to know where to go, I just ended up running around having fun flying and shooting.

guillaume-baril 2018-12-05 00:04

Wow ! The graphics are amazing !! It was very immersive and the quality is very high ! I honestly did not finish the game and I start jumping and running all over the map :P Good job !

jibbs 2018-12-05 00:34

I finally could get the game, and it is awesome ! I almost finished it but it became more and more difficult to pick up mons, and eventually my character could not fly anymore :/ Anyway that was very fun, well done :D

ladyknight1825 2018-12-05 00:39

This was an awesome game! Very well made and fun to play. The only problem I ran into while playing it is that less and less of the cute creatures could be vacuumed up making it difficult to complete! Overall still an amazing game!

tayl1r 2018-12-05 09:41

When Slime Rancher goes bad! I really enjoyed this.

adventureislands 2018-12-05 10:59

Amazing graphics! Like many have said before, reminds me a lot of Slime Rancher.

The game is super cute, but collecting the critters is pretty tedious, mostly because the vacuum seems to be working in little wonky way, I can run into huge pile of critters holding right mouse button but it barely sucks the creatures. And getting anywhere seems to require full tank always.

mateusboga 2018-12-05 14:16

Heeeeeeeey guuuuuuurl, that's a nice game you got there. If there was a cuteness score this would be a 5 star. I just think the game has some collission detection issues. Also in the pause menu the mouse doesn't show up. The jetpack also doesn't seem to work very well.

I also think "Genocide" is too strong a word here xD Amazing game though! Beautiful art!

jantaaa 2018-12-05 15:10

Audio-visually awesome, Controls are tight and very functional, overall feel really easy - empowering the positive chill mood. Love the dreaming carefree mood, even tho you sacrifice those poor bastards to fly around that made me laugh :D And the exploration, very much reminded me of the Slime rancher. Love those cute creatures aaaalmost felt sorry for them :D

Maybe encountered a bug: when there were really a lot of critters near the spaceship, I wasn't able to pick most of them just a few.

niterich 2018-12-05 16:49

Personally, I found this game to be a mixed bag. The audio-visual design was fantastic, some of the best I've ever seen from a game jam. Everything is just so cute and everything just fits so well together! But I felt the controls and the gameplay didn't have the same quality. I wasn't really sure where I needed to go next, I would randomly fall off cliffs that I felt I perfectly landed on, and the jetpack seemed to only boost my height when it felt like it. Lastly, if you're making a 3D game with camera controls, I think it's a good idea to include a slider to adjust mouse sensitivity - I personally found it to be too sensitive, which really hampered my control of the character.

jaimuepe 2018-12-05 17:00

@niterich yes, there are some annoying bugs in the jam version we couldn't patch on time, we are working on a postjam version to fix them. We are also adding some basic options, like mouse sensibility, volume and a couple more things :P thanks for playing and the detailed feedback!

jaimuepe 2018-12-05 17:07

@yureiokami @jibbs @ladyknight1825 @adventureislands @jantaaa yes, there's a very annoying bug that causes the monsters to stop working and you can't grab them anymore :( But we got that fixed in a postjam version we're working on, if you wanna try again once we release it :D

jantaaa 2018-12-05 18:07

@jaimuepe nice, I was wondering, can we post a post jam version here, and if so when? I suppose adding a link on the game website might be counted as cheating even if mentioned, that it is not for competition :|

jaimuepe 2018-12-05 18:33

@jantaaa hmm I don't think there's anything in the rules against that. I've done it and seen it other times and people seems to be ok with it - most people upload a couple of builds of their games to fix stuff or polish the game, but you flag it as a postjam build so i don't see that as cheating, people can still play the original

virtual-turtle-studio 2018-12-05 19:58

Wow guys. First of all, you did all did SUCH a good job here. I can't even believe this is a jam game to be honest! Everything is polished, there are cute sound effects, the mechanics work really well, and guess what? The game itself is even very fun too! You hit all the marks for me! Of course, I didn't want to leave the planet, because who wouldn't want to stay on an island with tiny creatures with tiny hats?? Very good job y'all!

fzillo 2018-12-05 21:00

I like the artstyle and the 3d characters, also the controlls feel very responsive, good work!

sodaraptor 2018-12-05 22:37

Awesome entry for a 72 hour jam! Like other people have mentioned, the art style and graphics are cute, stylized, and just nice to look at. I love the concept overall.

My biggest complaint is that the platforming in general is pretty clunky. Jumps are jittery, getting to higher places can be incredibly difficult, and some of the spring-boards will bounce you in a misleading direction. I found myself falling off the world often because the jetpack mechanic seems to have varying levels of push-up, making it hard to tell if you have enough fuel to cross a gap.

Something else fairly frustrating was the lack of instructions. I had to guess that shooting the green crystals would remove the shields, and some of the crystals were too hard to reach. Destroying the crystals was also overly difficult because there is no real way to aim the suck-cannon to shoot creatures out. They seem to shoot out in random directions.

I feel like with enough polish, this is something that could look and feel great to play on a console, like the Switch. Overall, excellent work.

coleslaughter 2018-12-06 09:53

I think the cuteness of this game gave me hardcore diabeetus.

This game has a LOT of potential that makes me excited. The style and tone of it remind me of old-school PS2 action-adventure games. The premise is unique and interesting, and with a little polish, could really be something special.

There are a few things that I think definitely could be improved. First and foremost, the physics were a bit too unpredictable for my tastes. Particularly when jetpacking next to a wall, I would often get flung either down or outwards, causing me to waste precious critter fuel in the process. Secondly, I think some of the platforming challenges were a bit too punishing, particularly one where I had to climb a really big tree while maintaining enough critters to break the crystal at the top. Falling near the top of that (or making there without enough ammo) meant falling a long way back down, spending several seconds sucking up more critters, and making the long, arduous journey back up, hoping things go better next time. That loop is just a liiiiiiittle bit too long, which can lead to frustration

All that aside, though, I'd say the point of a game jam is not to make a perfectly fleshed-out game. Instead, a "proof of concept" is far more realistic, and I think you guys accomplished that with flying colors with this game! I hope you guys continue to work on it in the future. :)

fenixdev 2018-12-06 11:26

My nose is bleeding because of the cuteness levels. You guys did a great job on this project and the result talks for itself.

I will only point out that I missed the backpack looking in the direction where the camera is looking while you are moving too, not only when you are standing.

Details appart the game is really enjoyable.

PS. Me alegra ver jammers Españoles por aquí.

hermeses 2018-12-06 12:07

Thanks a lot @virtual-turtle-studio @fzillo !!!!

@sodaraptor yeah, we were working on it for the post jam version that we are going to upload soon. We wanted to make it much better to play thanks to all your feedback, thanks!

@coleslaughter hahaha, very apreciated! the post jam version will be easier and the plataforming has been improved, I hope you enjoy it even more!

@fenixdev thanks!

AND thanks to all that comented and voted our game, we were really exited about all your comments.

sapphiris 2018-12-06 16:54

This game is WONDERFUL! The only think is I think the camera control is too responsive. But everything else is absolutely perfect! Great job!

thomas-lagana 2018-12-06 17:47

Amazing Game ! Nice Art Direction !!

xarras 2018-12-06 17:48

loadsofmana 2018-12-06 19:42

This might be the first Ludum Dare game I've given 5 stars across the board. I wouldn't be surprised to see this get at least top ten in several categories, the art is gorgeous and cohesive, the gameplay is smooth, the theme interpretation is great, even the level design is fantastic.

xarras 2018-12-06 21:22

@hermeses Sois la la pera.PNG ^-^

jeffrey-newton-evans 2018-12-06 22:19

W O W. I am blown away by the love that's been put into this. Not to mention how pretty and well animated everything is! Is this all made from scratch? If so, this is by far the most impressive entry this Jam in my opinion. Also thanks so much for making the Mac build! I've been anxiously waiting for one since I first saw this. Very Ooblets, VERY slime rancher, and the colours are even a little No Mans Sky. Excellent pallet and everything has so much charm. Hope you're all very proud!

dob 2018-12-07 06:00

The art, music, and sound are just delightful. The color palette is really fun, and it's lit very well. I enjoyed the game, although I found myself wishing for jumps that were a little easier and a jetpack that didn't drain so fast. After a few deaths I respawned with no animals and zero fuel, so I was kind of stuck. I'm so impressed with what you put together. Very nice work.

jaimuepe 2018-12-07 07:04

@dob thanks for playing and giving us feedback :) could you tell me with version did you play? Jam or post and platform?

dob 2018-12-07 08:16

@jaimuepe I played the post-jam on WebGL via itch.io, using Chrome for Windows. There were no speed or performance issues, just the weird thing where no animals spawned.

jaimuepe 2018-12-07 09:58

@dob thanks dob, I'll check it out later. Also good to know it performs fine on web, I tried it on Firefox and it was kinda low FPS

konsumopfer77 2018-12-07 13:56

Colourful and impressive Gurrrrrl!

awix 2018-12-07 17:46

Good)

ninnec 2018-12-07 19:51

Graphics are great! The music and sounds are great! A very cute game!

konomizure 2018-12-07 22:58

Lovely game! Pretty cute art and nice idea!

rodel77 2018-12-08 05:42

Its so darn cute :cat: it reminds me a lot to slime rancher

hermeses 2018-12-08 09:24

Thanks! @konsumopfer77 @awix @ninnec @rodel77 @rodel77 yeah! One of the main references was Slime Rancher, thanks for noticing!

raindrinker 2018-12-08 11:48

Incredibly aesthetically complete! Controls is the only weak link in an amazing videogame. Congrats!

coatline 2018-12-08 15:08

Not exactly the most fun game I've played, but the theme worked and the graphics were very cute. Overall, pretty good!

mmason 2018-12-08 18:58

Very well made game with a nice full level. Good job

acaral 2018-12-09 07:40

It remind me the old platformers on Nintendo64 and mario sunshine on Gamecube. perhaps this is your inspiration. In any case your game is so polished and so professional. Wow!

drauthius 2018-12-09 10:10

Amazing entry!

prodigalson 2018-12-09 14:01

An in game fly through of the level while waiting on the main menu? Very nice touch. The music emphases the colorfulness of the world, the sound effects add to the cuteness, and the attention to detailed such as the menus and how you navigate through them are all beautifully executed. Very nice, very nice. Yes, like others I immediately though about Slime Rancher but with like a Mario Odyssey (Luncheon Kingdom) twist to it :D

matt-fabius 2018-12-10 02:01

Cool game! Love the art style and the music! Cool concept behind the gameplay too. Only issue was I couldn't get the Web version of the game to work (running in Chrome on Mac). WASD wouldn't move the character, no matter what I tried. Anyways, great work, guys!

zugai89 2018-12-10 18:55

Really cute game, love the style :D There were only very few issues: the trampoline with the penguin on the highest platform seems to have an invisible collision above it, once you shoot the penguin aside (free floating? part of the tree?). Also at some point, after playing for quite some time/dying a lot, no more tiny critters would spawn. Dying again did not fix the issue, only reloading the page did (web version).

jfraser314 2018-12-11 15:25

Super cute. I love the color palette you went with. And your main character looks pretty cool. Web version slowed down at a few points but I bet the Windows version worked great. Great entry!

color.gif

ivan-garcia-filho 2018-12-12 02:20

Freaking cute!!!! i poke rainbows everywhere!!! i would just improve the color pallete of the scenario or improve the "user guidance" of the level design... it's almost like a sandbox without clues of where should i go ... The springs could be improved by reacting to protagonist's jump instead of immediately throwing upwards, would increase the user aiming control and antecipation...

d954mas 2018-12-13 07:08

very cute=)

shieldgenerator7 2018-12-13 21:12

cool game i didnt understand how to play and the jumping felt buggy. I couldnt figure out why the monsters stopped spawning or why i couldnt get to some platforms. Very cool concept has potential if you put more time into it

hermeses 2018-12-14 18:34

@raindrinker Thanks! If you play the postjam version the controlls are a little improved.

@coatline @mmason @acaral @drauthius @jfraser314 @ivan-garcia-filho @d954mas Thanks a ton!

@prodigalson Yeah, now that you mention it, it has some resemblance to the Luncheon Kingdom xD thanks a lot for comparing our visuals in the game with such a great game as mario oddysey!

@matt-fabius Yep, web version doesn't goes that well, is much better if you download the mac version!

@zugai89 Yes, there are still a few bugs that make that, we were trying to fix it soon, but with all of us having jobs and all that is difficult

@shieldgenerator7 It still has some bugs, but you can play it from start to end. The postjam version resolves some bugs if you want to try!

rkuhl 2018-12-15 13:47

I love the graphics and the cute creatures, really amazing game

randomphantom 2018-12-16 17:15

Really cute and love the artstyle, and great work doing this in the jam! The platforming was a little clunky as the fuel was always not enough and I got to a point where holding the jump button wouldn't activate the hover any more. The squeaky sounds and great music added to the mood lots. Relaxing and fun game!

hdugmag 2018-12-24 01:36

Beautiful game! The art-style and audio direction are just excellent, and really contribute to the fun yet calming mood. This was one of the greatest experiences I've had.

However...there are a few minor gameplay issues which do need some tweaking. First of all, it felt like fuel ran out fast, like really fast, and whenever I try to jump (w/o using the jet-pack) the fuel has to decrease by a couple percent; and in the case when fuel is scarce and runs out fast, that issue gets pretty frustrating. For example, w/ the tree part, I invested too many tries to climb up it, simply because I had no fuel by the second branch; and the loop of falling and looking for monsters to absorb every time got pretty annoying. Also, even on relatively short ledges, there's no way to jump onto it without sacrificing a bit of fuel. To absorb the creatures you had to be very close to them and try to get the ledges out of their way. I would've also appreciated it if the player had more air control and there was audible feedback when the jetpack is about to run out of fuel and when it fills up to 100%.

I understand if this critique felt a bit harsh, but I strongly believe the pros outweigh the cons, and I'm pointing out all these issues simply 'cause I loved the game and want to see something bigger out of it. Well done!

jesse-santana 2018-12-26 01:43

Such a polished idea, the animations (and their implementation) feel so great! The character shows personality and the colors bring a nice environment. The controls were nice (although I think I experienced a little bug after flying once, but after reseting the game it didnt happen anymore). Also, good take on the theme! Well done.

inkie-inc 2018-12-28 12:36

This game is nothing but incredible, especially for something built in such a small amount of time!

hermeses 2018-12-28 17:02

@rkuhl @randomphantom @jesse-santana @inkie-inc Thanks a lot!!

@hdugmag Whoahh, thanks! We really apreciate all the feedback you gave us, but now I'm not sure if you played the post-jam version or the first one, because we improved a few things that you mentioned. Anyway, thanks for the comment! It would be cool to continue the game a little more, improve other things and all that, but unfortunately we probably won't be able to do it T.T

knarf 2018-12-29 11:40

Super cute experiment, the visuals are amazingly cute and good looking with all these colors and polish. The SFX and music are very well executed too. I couldn't really understand what I was supposed to do as I felt somehow stuck after a few platforms, and always felt into the void, but I enjoyed wandering around and throwing all these cuteness at random. Maybe a little more explanations and guidance on the player's goal would be welcome :) Good job! Cheers!

bonelazy 2018-12-29 19:52

I found the game from itch.io, and after playing I had to double-check if it was indeed a Ludum Dare Jam game. Graphics and audio are nothing short of awesome, and the gameplay and the content you made available in such a short time is amazing. Great job to you all!
